Ditto, re: my Tricross Double & my local bike shop as well: "A large part of my decision was based on the bike shop. They provide free lifetime tune-ups and have helped with any problem I have had (usually at no cost)."

I have a 2010 Specialized TriCross Comp on layaway.

The bikes you are looking at are all great bikes.

A large part of my decision was based on the bike shop.
They provide free lifetime tune-ups and have helped with any problem I have had (usually at no cost).

I picked the Tri-Cross as a sort of do everything bike.
I needed a fast road bike also capable of doing the hard-pack trails around me.

Don't know the answer? Our off-road terrain is so challenging that only the most technical mountain bike racers use cyclo-cross. I'm not good enough and I ride a mountain bike for off-road.
On the road, I ride a road bike.

No racing. I live in an area that's really hilly so I do a lot of climbing. Thanks for the suggestions!

Are you actually CX racing? If not, then best "bang for buck" is the Surly Cross Check.

The Salsa Chili Con Crosso is a great bike too. Also the Redline Conquest. Or the Van Dessel Gin and Trombones.

But every bike manufacturer these days has a CX bike. Give some a whirl and buy the bike that fits you the best.

I bought a Tricross Double this past February and have been VERY pleased with it!

However, I'm using it primarily as a road / touring / commuting bike, not as a cyclocross. Off-road I have to say (perhaps this is more due to my lack of off-road experience) the ride seems a bit rough to me. But for everything ON road I've been extremely satisfied with my Tricross.

Hey all~ I'm looking at getting a cyclocross & have looked online at the Yeti ARC-X, Salsa and got some info from my LBS on the Specialized Tricross. Anyone out there have cyclocross they like or have suggestions on what to look for?
