I actually live in Huntsville but will be out of town that weekend!!! Good luck to you and the rest of the group putting it on! Wish I could be here to ride!

It sounds like an amazing event and even though I am too far away to participate, my thoughts will be with you during the day.

Not sure if any of you live in the North Alabama or Southern Tennessee region; however, if you do, and you want to come--please let me know!!

Do you need a way to get moving this coming Saturday? The answer should be, YESSS!!! :)

Join the Kappa Delta's at UAH for our 2nd Annual Shining Safely 5k Bike Race!

This race is held in honor of our late Sister, Sarah Chapman, who we lost in a car/bicycle accident on September 15, 2008. We immediately took action in her memory and set up the "Sunshine Scholarship" in her name at UAH.

At a KD Retreat the weekend before this tragic event, many of the girls were asked random questions about themselves. Her question was, "How would you like to be remembered if you were to die young?" She smiled and answered, "As a ray of sunshine, who brightened everyone's day." That is truly the best way to sum up Sarah. She was an absolute blessing to all around her, and an amazing Gracious Living chair.

She truly is missed and we think of her everyday.

If you'd like to compete in the race it is $10 to sign-up before (by this coming Thursday), and $15 on the day of the race.

The race will be held Saturday, October 2, from 1-4pm at UAH.

Children are welcome to get involved as well! We will have an obstacle course for them! :)

There will also be door prizes and rewards.

I feel you should know about the 1st Place Rider from last year-- he is an amazing young man, a member of Alpha Tau Omega, and he was also Sarah's boyfriend. I was amazed at his strength and willingness to participate in something, it was so powerful to see him ride in to victory.

Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions- I can meet you anywhere with forms and such this week to sign if you want to compete or simply give donations.

Thanks so much!!
