None for me either. But I've had a bad cycling summer...

Ugh, it's supposed to be cold and rainy all weekend. No biking for me I guess. Bummer.

I had to laugh at that comment--people don't believe me that heading north to PA is slightly up hill. So you don't need to really predict when you are "halfway" exhausted! Coming back really is easier. But just FYI, it starts heading downhill (similar slight grade) once you cross the PA line.
I didn't end up riding on Sunday--instead I spent an absolutely beautiful day at the Renaissance Faire.

27 miles on the NCR trail today. It was the first time I'd gone from Monkton to the PA line (and a little past). I did notice that, even though there's only a slight incline, I can really tell how much easier southbound is.

The weather looks promising for the weekend so I hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy it. I think I might have to bike one day and hike the next...gotta suck up the last of the summer sun.

Heyputhatdown and DRC, thanks for the advice. I hadn't factored in the rest stop points in my ride. I now have a better plan....actually...I now HAVE a plan!! LOL You guys are the BEST!!!

I have a hybrid bike I love but it only has 8 gears and is heavy. I've rented a road bike for a 26 mile ride tomorrow with a co-worker. She is 20 years younger and 40 pounds lighter. I always get in a good workout while riding with her.
I'm most excited about the weekend of October 23rd. My sister and I will be spending three days of biking and two nights of camping on the C & O Canal in Maryland. She's biked the trail a couple of times on her own, this will be my first time there. Just reading tales of the trail on the web has me very excited.

There isn't usually much to miss (except the miles) when you choose the 62 mile option vs. the 100 mile option. The good rest stops (e.g. Amish pies ... mmm) are included in both. In the case of the Seagull though you have to do the 100 to get out to Assateague to (hopefully) see the ponies.
NewSpirit: looks like there are rest stops at 17 and 38 miles for the metric century leaving 24 miles to the finish. Make sure you stock up leaving the second rest stop.
BWI Loop -- I like clockwise the best. You can turn right onto Dorsey Road and avoid the wooded path behind the Dixon observation area (too much foot traffic). BTW, there are a ton of rides one can do using the BWI loop as a jumping off point.
I'd rather be sitting on my bike thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my bike ...

A metric century is 100 km, or 63 miles (as opposed to a full century which is 100 miles).
Seagull has such a great reputation for it's route, but is know to get a little windy. Good luck with the rides!
As for yoga, I guess it's still unique to find men in classes. I found a great yoga instructor who focuses on yoga for athletes (although I have gone to many classes), so she ends up with quite a few men in her classes.
BWI trail: I've tried it both clockwise and counterclockwise, and think I like clockwise better. I think it's better marked (just my opinion--it's been a while).

I'll be riding the full Sea Gull Century. It's a great, flat, easy ride. Looking forward to another great one.

I am planning to do my first metric century on Saturday. The event, Seagull Century, in Salisbury, MD. I am very nervous as I haven't had much saddle time over the past month. I will just enjoy the experience and hopefully I will complete the 62miles.

My best friend, who is a guy, would like to know why, as the only male in his yoga class, the instructor must heap attention on him. It makes him very self-conscious.

BWI Trail -
Which direction is easier, if any? i have always gone clockwise but last Sunday was the first time I went counterclockwise. I think the beginning of the counterclockwise is easier but after that, I thought it was the same.

I have only been to the NCR Trail once for an 8K race. It was shaded the whole time, really nice.
I would like to ride it before the season is out but it's 45 minutes for me versus 15 minutes to BWI Trail.

Ooh, hills. I've been looking for someplace to practice some hills. The NCR is so flat and everything else is busy road. I was pleased how I did on the few during the Tour du Port though. I had biked Antietam about a month before and thought I would die. I'll have to check out the BWI trail.

I like the BWI trail. It's paved and has some hills, so a little more variety than the NCR. The NCR is more protected from the weather (especially on a hot summer day), and the BWI/B&A trail is a better surface after a rain. BWI is a loop, and from one point in the loop, you can head south on the B&A to Annapolis.
I end up at NCR more often because it is more convenient for me.

I love the BWI Trail; it’s one of my favorite places to ride. It’s an 11-mile loop around BWI Airport. For newbie riders, it’s not an easy 11 miles but it gets easier. There are inclines and hills but they are not too bad but experienced riders (not me) still consider it easy and relatively flat.
I think it’s a great ride and workout. As you build miles, you can connect to the B&A Trail. That rail is 13 miles each way from Glen Burnie to Annapolis.

I know what you mean about cold weather .... I live in Oshkosh, Wi which is east central of WI. I guess today is supposed to be our best day and rain tomorrow with the temps dropping starting on Fri throughout the week end and next week I guess.
It looks like cold weather gear and layers as well for me.

Weather isn't looking too promising here in Northern Illinois. Sure wish I lived somewhere warmer! Sunday is looking like my best day for a ride so far. Probably only a 25 mile ride - unless I find myself some decent cold weather biking clothes before then! I know, I know... layers!
Saturday, I am volunteering for my running club, and then taking my young one to his football game, then basketball tryouts, then my older one to his football game. I guess Saturday is not good.
I plan to ride the BWI Trail on Sunday and then head over to the B&A Trail (the trails connect) for a long run afterwards.

Anyone in the Chattanooga, TN area that might be up for some road biking in the Battlefield with me this weekend?

I have to work on Saturday from 8 - 2, but don't have anything scheduled for the rest of the day--or for Sunday--yet. I wonder if I could get out to the NCR as well... It sounds like such a good plan!

I have a 6th grade tackle football game to assist in coaching and a 30th surprise b'day party to attend to with the Dw. It is Dw's co-worker. So i think a ride is out for Sat. On Sun. there is no Packet game so I'm hopeful it is supposed to be cold though. Mon I have off for Columbus Day so I'm hopeful for another ride then. I have off on Fri as well so I'm hopeful for one then as well ....but i have to finish closing up the pool and organizing the shed. I also have to drop the dog off to the vet to have her spaded and drop the car off to have rear drum brakes adjusted and go to the college to bring the son a pair of gloves and a warmer jacket
Wow when did I say I could get a ride in again???;-) LOL
