My husband and I are riding in the Collier Lilly Ride4Life on June 6. We plan to ride 31 miles that day.

We are also signed up to ride in the MS Bike Ride at Greenville, SC in October. I plan to ride 40 miles the first day, he plans to ride the century so he should be training a bit harder this summer.

Our local weekly rides website lists others in our area, but there is only so much time available.

LOL, Bill! I'd do a lot to ride with LANCE freakin' ARMSTRONG, too...

Carol, what's the next charity ride you have planned for the Maryland area?

My last charity ride was the ROAR for Autism research to benefit Kennedy Kreiger, at Oregon Ridge Park in Baltimore County.

We are doing the Bike MS - Ride to the River in October. This will be our first group ride like this ever but it is not my first charity thing...I've been doing 5ks for over a year now. :)

There are TONS of charity rides. We do several locally (Maryland and PA). We also have several in New England that we travel for. Additionally, there are also ones with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training -- cycle around Lake Tahoe, or Tuscon, or Salsbury MD, etc. Great rides, great causes.

I'll be riding in the inaugural riding of Pelotonia. It's a ride organized in Columbus, Ohio to benefit The James Cancer Clinic. I'll be riding the century along with Grand Marshal Lance Armstrong. LANCE freakin' ARMSTRONG!

Once I heard about that I was in no matter what. Right now I'm in the fund raising stage. I have to raise $1500; all of which goes to the hospital.

Ride On!

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

If your town/area has a Cycle club they would probably have a list. You could also check www.Active.com. A lot of charities list there rides there & let you register for them on-line - just take a peek!

Good for you! I've looked at that bike several times in the reviews, it looks pretty nice.

We do have charity rides around here throughout the year. My daughter and I are thinking about the diabetes ride coming up in june. Her father is a diabetic in very bad health at the moment.

Good for you! I think organized rides are great fun. You meet the best people and have a great time. DH and I do several rides every year, not all for charity, some are just fund raisers, some are just for fun. For some of the weekend rides in the summer entire families come to ride. We have met people on rides that have become good friends and have planned other rides together. He is going to ride the Natchez Trace in June with some guys we met last year at the GA Bike Fest. Cyclists are really great people.

Our local cycle club puts on a Ride to Remember to benefit an adult day care for elders with alzheimer.

I did the 25 mile loop in 2 hours! I'm so happy I met my goal and enjoyed riding my new to me Giant OCR3!

Anyone else planning on doing any charity rides?
