May's total 327mi.; yearly total 885mi.

I made part of my monthly goal (300mi.), just not the part about minus 5 pounds. I've got to learn not to eat everything available when i do group rides!

The 6 last night looks like all I'm going to get since the bike decided to dive off the bike rack while on the freeway last night. Must remember always bike home.

Bike shorts really do make a big difference don't they!

Sarah, you are half way there, good for you.

I really enjoy the organized rides (whether for charity or fund raiser). You meet the nicest people and there is always someone who rides at your pace.

My LBS started up a women's ride group this spring. It's a neat group of women and last week we had enough people to divide into two different pace groups. There are also a lot of cycling clubs around here; it's more a matter of finding rides to fit into my schedule.

Real bike shorts make a world of a difference!

Wallybat,
I only got back into riding this spring, but had been doing a lot of cardio. I did 15 and 25 mile rides but was hesitant to go out with a group and commit to 25-30 miles. I talked with the ride leader and told her I felt great after those rides. She said I'd be fine on a 30 mile ride then, and I was! So I guess what I'm trying to say is, how did you feel after 20? Did you still have legs? Plus, my trainer always encourages me to push myself for a challenge, but that is my personality, too. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

My goal for May is to continue on the weight loss path by doing cardio six days a week (at least two days riding minimum 15 - 20 miles) and strength training three days a week.

one of my goals for the summer was to go on a charity ride or something of that sort.
this weekend i'm doing the ACS Walk and Roll, it's only 15miles but i feel i've come a long way from 5miles around the neighborhood.

i'm also doing the Ride the Drive (LSD) next weekend and have the option of going 15m or 30m. i know i can do 20mi but i don't know if i'm ready to do 30 yet.

but i'm very excited to be cycling in a group event. i feel like i've accomplished something.

I feel good about May!! I'm starting the month off with a century this Sunday. I am riding my first mtb race two weeks later & FL state time trials are the last weekend. That would be three events in one month, which is a lot for me. I typically only do 3 per summer!!

May is the real beginning of biking season for me. I plan to ride a Century (100 miles) on May 17. My other resolution is to try to lose at least 2 pounds this month because I am going to Hawaii in June and want to feel really good about myself.

Trying to stay fit, healthy, happy, and motivated

Now that I have a bit of a break from Grad school, I can take some time to breathe and get the 8 pounds off that I gained this year in school.
My goal would be to get out three times a week, whether that be cycling or running, and do strength training twice a week.
My other goal is to reclaim my constitution to be able to go to a party or get together and NOT eat the cake, dips, etc.
Thanks for posting the challenge.

1. Continue to find time to run and bike at least twice per week each - I deserve and need to exercise. Can't take care of others if I don't take care of myself.
2. Sign up for at least two races and one duathlon

Here it is, the start of a new month. I must admit I haven't done well with my stretching, more everyother day than every day, but I am feeling better.

My resolution for May is to continue my 30 minutes daily cardio and increase to 60 minutes 3 days a week. I will also be more diligent with my weight training 3 days a week.

Come on everyone, let's hear yours. It is just for 1 month, you can do this.
