We rode the route last Saturday and had a blast. At least we finished and didn't get lost!
Thank you to those who have sent me good luck wishes. Others have asked about "Tour de Cure" event. My brother has set up our team page named "Road Rash" (yes, that's a picture of his leg). Check it out at http://main.diabetes.org/goto/roadrash
The site for general information and route descriptions is: www.diabetes.org/sandiegotourdecure
Please think of us on April 18th as we take to the streets to raise money for Diabetes research.
Thanks for the informative suggestions. I really appreciate it.
We (my daughter and I) did drive the route today and found out there are a few surprises, yet some beautiful scenery. We are planning to ride 25-30 miles in the morning, do an hour of hills on Friday, then ride 30+ on the weekend. We still have next week, but my daughter will be back in school then.
Thanks again for the suggestions and reassurance. Eating right (before and during the ride) will be one of our main focuses too.
Not sure how often you ride, but when i began last year i would do a ride about the same distance with a few friends a week or so before hand. It seemed to help with my anxiety/nerves. Enjoy the ride......i'm a diabetes educator and hope to do a tour de cure in the next year!
Just wondering if any of you are entered in the Tour de Cure ride on April 18th in San Diego?
This will be my first official ride (30 mile course), as I just started biking Fall of 2008. I'm a little nervous, so I'm going to drive the course (in my car) today. My brother is an avid biker and has registered for the century....way too long for me!
