My work week is weird. Thursdays and Fridays are my weekend. Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings are my free time for riding on "normal time."

I'm just this GUY, ya know?

Just did a get together, semi-training ride Sunday.
Yeah...the guys are great!
Nice guys who didn't mind slowing down after hills, so I could catch up. 210 extra pounds is a lot to drag uphill.

I actually did fine on flats and slight inclines, and on downhill sections I,of course, had one heck of an advantage. Now if it was truly downhill all the way... emoticon

32 miles and change. 12.5 mph avg.

Awesome commitment! Having a big goal - and this one is no small feat - keeps you on track and helps get past the days when you wonder why the heck you're on a bicycle!

We still need to meet up and go for a ride!

I don't have the elevation profile for any of this ride.
The route is still in the planning stages.
Last march they went through the Hill Country.
This time they are trying to avoid that area by staying on a more easterly route...Thereby avoiding a lot of climbing. There will of course be a net loss in elevation with various undulations in the middle.

Maybe I'm missing it, but what's the elevation gain like? Saddle time is important, but serious elevation can take it out of your legs in a hurry.

The Group situation is definitely a key factor.

That and the fact that we will be having SAG support if...for some reason... we have to wuss out for whatever reason (and just ride as far as possible each day).

Looks like a great ride and definetly a great cause. Saddle time should help, and riding in a touring group is easier than on your own.

Yep.

Saddle time is the limiting factor.

I love that ride! Let me know how it goes!!!!

Yeah...I figured it yould be a GOOD thing if I was in the saddle almost every day until then.

Now...if they only someone made cold weather gear in my size....
Meh! I'll just have to improvise! emoticon

You'll be fine.... Get the miles in, long rides on the weekend, short hard rides during the week, rest days, gradual increase in miles, etc...

Get the butt on the saddle and the nutrition sorted and you'll be golden.

Mr. M:
You're riding for a great cause. But, unless you want to either really hurt or have to be brought in by SAG, the butt must be put to the saddle often and longer. Good luck!!

Ok...It' time to come clean.
I let my distance riding on the weekends lapse to either nothing or the occasional 20 miler. I had built my distance up to 40+ miles.

Did 25 miles yesterday and it was a saaad sad thing.
I need to start building again, due mostly to my letting myself be talked into considering this:

soldierride.blogspot.com/

The ride is from DFW to Austin to San Antonio where we will meet and ride with the Wounded Warrior Ride.

Luckily we will have SAG support all the way and be going at a slow touring pace.

Time to Harden Up and start logging the miles. emoticon
