I was wondering the same thing on the so called recovery ride. I think the next time I will take one of the kids with me to force me to ride slower.

You sure it's not your race numbers?? emoticon

Seriously, maybe you overdid it. Cramping is a major problem and you may just have aggravated them during the tri and afterwards. You said you didn't do much running so that may have been a cause.

Also, I'm not sure 16 miles is a recovery ride, so you may have hurt them a bit more. A recovery ride is SERIOUSLY SLOW and short. After my Oly Du I went for a 45 minute recovery ride and only covered 15k.

So RICE your calves, take a couple of days to recover and everything will be fine once again.

Congrats again on the tri!

Arnica not only helps with soreness but banishes bruises fast. Normal? I haven't heard of this before so can't say on that question.

It does not hurt and it is not sore .... I just noticed discoloration in that area on both calves.

I'm sure a little ice will get it to go away!

Usually the treatment for sore muscles is RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression (Ace bandage) and Elevation.

Hope you get better soon!

Hey Guys

I noticed some bruising on both calf muscles. Could this be from the result of the Sprint Triathlon I did???? Remember I almost cramped/charlie horsed both calves. I ran on my heels to stretch the muscles out. Did I injure them now???

Also, I went for a 16 mile recovery ride the next day

What did I do and is this normal???
