I name my bikes as well. I started when I was about 13 or 14 doing that, back then I was not a serious bike rider. My bike as a teenager was named Phantom after my love for phantom of the opera and since then my bikes have been named something to do with phantom. My first bike that I seriously used for commuting and riding was Meg(named after Christine's best friend in phantom), My second commuting bike was Emmy(named after the actress who played Christine in the 2004 movie), My third bike that I'm using now is named Jennifer (after Jennifer Hope Wills who is the current broadway Christine). My boyfriend might get me a cruiser bike for christmas it's actually a limited edition elvis love me tender bike but I think I'm going to name it Erik after the phantom himself.
Franken-Snake is doing great -- the new gear shifter has made him feel like a youngster again. Also, I had the LBS put new gel-tape on his handle-bars so he is all spruced-up and ready to go. Thanks for asking.
heehee frankensnake! I have a lovely old single speed cruiser that got me back into cycling. Her name is Betsey. She is going to be sold pretty soon. My new bike has really changed my life and my attitude about cycling (read, brought about the addiction). She is my Electra Townie 21 speed in purple with poetry superimposed on her frame and she is named Tallulah.
Rebcca - I like Firedancer! I had thought about using "Sparky" because it was the bike that was the start or "sparking" of my weight loss, but now that I have had it for two years, it deserves a more prominent name. Firedancer it is!
My first Cruiser Bike I call Pee Wee because I love that bike more the Pee Wee loved his bike in the movies. My second bike was a road bike, which I call Sheila. The Bike manufacture is from Autstrailia. My most recent is called TV because I used the money I was saving to buy a new flat screen tv to buy a mountain bike instead.
If you're crazy then so am I. My 15yr old Univega mt. bike is named Little Red (its red and used to ride around on a red SUV named Big Red). The new road bike is called The Toothpaste Express. Its a Bianchi.
The carbon fiber.... Smokey? That way when the engine is up and running you can smoke all the other riders ;)
I have not given much thought to naming my bike. I do name the muscle car though. I do not have one yet but a buddy of mine has an orange 1970 Ford Torino fastback cobra jet that I affectionately call "PUMPKIN".
As for my Raleigh 450 Technium 1990 .... no clue. The color is Turquoise Blue. I could call it TURQ or refer to it as TANK (Aluminum frame no carbon fiber) or Ole School
I have a 2004 Madone 5.2 that is carbon fiber clearcoat (so, "Dark gray") for my road bike. Light weight and has the potential to be fast, as soon as I improve the "engine"--me!
And my older bike is a 2000 Diamondback cyclocross, that is about to be used as a commuter bike, as soon as the office relocates. It's a little more upright, and a little more durable, even with slick tires. That one is light gray...
Man, my bikes are boring colors!

I haven't named mine yet....I've had it for over 2 years so it's past due I'm sure. It's just that I'm not very creative when it comes to names....my cat's name was "kitty" and my dog's name is "puppy". Real original, right? LOL!
W've named our GPS units...Susan and Janet. Janet is in our Suzuki Reno...LOL..Janet Reno! That's about as creative as I get!
I'll have to work on a name. I have a mostly orange Trek....it's orange on the lower half and it fades into yellow up top. Any suggestions are welome!!
I have been riding for nearly twenty years (yikes has it been that long!!) I have owned 7 mountain bikes and two road bikes. I still own most of them. My bikes have just been named this year. My road bike is Beauty and my mountain bike is Grace. I think that I will name all subsequent bikes these same names because the words describe how I feel when I ride them.
After my post yesterday I started wondering if I'm the only one that names my bikes. (By the way, my Trek Hybrid is named Old Yeller). Come to think of it, I also name my cars. Does that make me crazy? Hmmm....
