Well that does change things a little bit ... you failed to mention that your husband was police sgt .... so yes I would have to agree not in a million years;-) LOL By the way my dad was a drill sgt in the army so I do know what it is like.
I thought I would just throw it out there though;-)
Thanks for the suggestions! Right now my kids and I take turns on the tandem because we're better matched cadence-wise.
J - I would love to ride in the front but being married to an Alpha-male police sergeant, well, I don't think it's going to happen! LOL! That would be like me asking him to take the back seat on my motorcyle!! Never in a million years!
I guess for now it's train, train, train to get my speed up. Thanks for all the great advice!
I don't have a tandem bike, but I have been working on increasing my cadence...wongerchi posted somewhere about lowering your gear speed to increase your cadence to around 90 rpm's so I do my rides in a slightly lower gear to get my legs going...spin classes help alot, I'll hop on the stationary bike at the gym to check my cadence because I do not have a cycle computer and I make a mental note of what 90 rpm's feels like...
time in the saddle will help you improve and make you stronger.
I am bringing sexy back!

I was just wondering if anyone here tandems? My hubby and I have a tandem bike but I have a hard time riding with him. Mostly because he rides harder than I do (his average speed is 18-20 where mine is 12-15) and my cadence is slower than his. I have a hard time keeping up! He is sensitive to this and tries to go slower, but his riding style is so different from mine that I just am not able to sync with him.
I feel bad because I know he wants to go on rides with me, but because of the riding differences, I really don't enjoy it at all. Any suggestions that would help me learn to match up and enjoy the ride? I'd like to brush the dust off the tandem bike and get in a few rides this summer.
