Yeah guys.....ain't a good idea to cycle with sandals. I was just running over to my friends place for a bit and I figured "What can happen over 12 blocks?". Well, when I leaving his place I was still in a high gear and instead of downshifting I got up on the cranks.....about 5 revolutions in my sandal slips off the pedal, crashing into the pavement....the crank spins back around, forcing my leg and foot further down. Then I slammed my crotch on the top bar, and fell face first into the asphalt, skinning my face, almost breaking my nose (may have broken it....it sure does hurts) and chipping my front tooth off. I dislocated my big toe and had to get 4 stitches at the ER.
I seem to be recovering quickly and should be back in the saddle next week...this time with appropriate footwear.
