Hey, I'm still pretty new to sparkpeople, but I am loving it so far! I did my first MS 150 ride last Sept in Atlanta (well it's the Atlanta ride, but it's down at Callaway Gardens). I didn't really train as well as I should have, but I think my age allowed me to do that (I'm 23). My parent's had participated the 2 years before and now they have me hooked. I'm looking forward to this year's ride again.
I've done 3 MS rides over the years. The ones I've been on were well organized and well executed. Have a great time out there!
Suggestions? Stick to your training. Do all your training and be well prepared. Take sunscreen and use it liberally. I got burned one year and it makes for a very uncomfortable sleepless night in between days. Find some people with a similar pace to ride. There are always people of varying levels out there. Don't get swept up with faster riders. You'll pay for it later in the day.

I'm riding in the BP MS150 ride from Houston to Austin for the first time and I was trying to see if any Sparkers were participating in any of the MS150 rides. I wasn't even an avid bike rider when I signed up for this thing, but I've been going to spin class and taking my bike out. I'm on a team with my job and we're teamed up with some other teams and some vets have to put together a training program. Hopefully I'll be okay. Those hills scare the mess out of me. Have any of you guys done the ride before? Any pointers? What are your experiences? Any other first timers?
