I'm giong to look that one up. I've also been hearing more about the olive oil too.

Here's the thing: I think people are just "conditioned" to the plastic look of today's media. Women are still beautiful 40s and beyond...skinny or plump they are. But I just can't look at a plastic person and say "oh that's so pretty" What ever happened to flat chested women? Remeber JoBeth Williams in Poltergeist? That woman had NO boobs and is very attractive.

If she were doing that again today you can bet they would've stuffed silicone in her body to make it more "pretty".

Ugh

I have 3 words for you.... DRY SKIN BRUSHING!!!! Google it!!!! I am new to your group and been on SP for about a month and I dry skin brush every day! Be sure to use a NATURAL BRISTLE brush. I got mine in the health and beauty aids at wal mart for 98 cents! No turkey neck for me! IN addition I use pure extra virgin olive oil on my skin. Hey God reccomends it!!! I keep a bottle in my shower and just pour a small amount on a wash cloth and rub it all over my face and body. Then it's all used up and none gets in the tub.

It is WELL known that the Skin is the LARGEST Organ in the Body, and is responsible for one-fourth of the Body's Detoxification each day, also making it, one of the most IMPORTANT Elimination Organs! The Skin is also known as the "3rd" Kidneys and the Lungs are known as the "2nd" Kidneys. TOXICITY can gather beneath the Skin's Surface from such COMMON Influences such as IMPROPER pH levels in Body Soaps, Skin Creams and Anti-Perspirants, plus Synthetic Fibers worn NEXT to the Skin with ANY of them contributing to a variety of Skin Problems and Conditions.

When you do Skin Brushing, you HELP your Lymph System to CLEAN itself of the TOXINS, that COLLECT in the Lymph Glands. You use a Simple Technique to IMPROVE the Surface Circulation on the Skin and KEEP the Pores of the Skin OPEN, encouraging your Body's Discharge of Metabolic Wastes, and resulting in an IMPROVED ability to COMBAT Bacteria, plus HELPING your Skin to look and feel HEALTHIER and MORE RESILIENT! Skin Brushing is a PERFECT Treatment for SELF-HELP Enthusiasts.

Benefits:

TIGHTENS Skin.

HELPS Digestion.

REMOVES Cellulite.

STIMULATES Circulation.

INCREASES Cell Renewal.

CLEANS Lymphatic System.

REMOVES Dead Skin Layers.

STRENGTHENS Immune System.

IMPROVES Exchange between Cells.

STIMULATES the Glands, thus helping ALL of the
Body Systems to perform at PEAK EFFICIENCY!

Praise SP! We are all here wanting to feel and look better! You said and we all seem to agree that turkey neck is no fun! However, the more exercise you do, especially lifting weights, you'll see a tremendous difference in how you look and feel! Less fat on our bodies has got to feel more awesome than a little waddle. Give yourself the gift of fitness and you'll be so fabulous you won't think twice about a turkey neck! Be good to yourselves!! Be fabulous! emoticon

I Have turkey neck and I hate it. I'm hoping with my weight loss goal it will go away. It has made me feel terrible about my appearance and thus unattractive to my husband. This is a
big obstacle for me to get over.

Hi Bigmamma... I'm with you all the way on this... in face, when I got down to 160, I panicked because of all of the crepe paper skin under my chin and the little excess skin that had accumulated in my belly area. There is comfort in knowing that I'm not alone in this.

And you know what? I am proud of you, and you are beautiful in spite of it all. Now this really sounds goofy and new age, but sometimes I think that we need to hear that we are perfect with our imperfections. Heaven knows that we aren't alone in having them, right?

Big hugs to you!!! Keep up the great work!!!

Holly

Hello Bigmamma I am with you on looking old. Alls I can say is when you loose the weight you will feel better and if you drink plenty of water and eat right you will even feel more awesome. take into consideration when they go for the real age test some of those people on Biggest loser take years off their lives and LBs off their bodies. There are few things you may want to try to stay young looking other then great nutrition I am sorry I do not know any
I am in fear of the turkey waddle myself so I use extra moisturizer and I try to do friming exercises for my neck. Good Luck

I don't know that anything I say will make you feel better, BigMamma. If it's any consolation I feel your pain. I get up in the morning feeling just as good, better maybe, than the woman who crawled out of bed 20 years ago at the age of 28. Then I look in the bathroom mirror and reality stares back. The gift inside has improved with age, like fine spirits but the wrapping has become a little battered.
As far as making the choice to forge ahead with your weight loss I can only tell you my experience. I've decided that my physical health is more important than my ego, and let me tell you, my ego is really healthy. You want a long, active life and you want to enjoy it and the people in it to the fullest. If this is true then gloss over those features you find less than perfect.
I mostly ignore the wattle and try to focus on the new shapely calves. ;)

I've done a lot of soul searching lately and have come to the conclusion that one of the reasons I haven't lost the weight I would like to lose is... I am afraid of looking old. I see on the Biggest Loser, the older women who lose weight look soooooo old! Wrinkles, saggy skin, turkey waddles. Ewwwww. Every time I start to lose weight the skin under my neck gets all crepie (sp?). I put creams on it, but it still freaks me out. I have never been thin and I'm not at all sure I want to be thin and wrinkly. BTW I'm 53, post menopausal and still FEEL young! Any words of wisdon? emoticon
