I decided to have something different this morning -- mainly because I was talking on the phone with my daughter and didn't want to turn on the noisy VitaMix. So I made myself a breakfast sandwich, which I used to LOVE! Bacon, 100% whole wheat bagel (thin) a piece of cheese and a bit of egg substitute, which I fry hard -- I do not like soft eggs.

It was delicious, but only for a change. When I saw it was just over 400 calories, I was shocked! My protein smoothie never goes over 350 and most of the time is somewhere between 250 and 350. It all depends on how much stuff I add in. I love to add PB, but it's so high in calories I don't do it often.

I love these and I think I am addicted to them.

My usual protein smoothie, this time with fresh blackberries. It seems odd that they are in season -- don't know where they come from. I have blackberry bushes at our summer home, so next summer I imagine I will be having blackberries a LOT -- maybe I'll try them in muffins for variety.

Had not planned ahead and we are seldom at this house, so it was hit and miss. I did have milk (probably about to go bad) and coffee, plus I have one flavor of protein powder down here, but no banana; so I used 1-1/2 cups coffee, cup of non-fat milk, 1 tbsp. peanut butter, and a scoop of blueberry muffin protein powder. Tastes great. I threw the rest of the milk out just in case.

This morning I did a slice of toast with peanut butter and a sliced banana on it. Served it with a glass of milk. Think I'm getting tired of the smoothies all the time, even though I know they are healthy. It's like anything, no matter how good it tastes if you consume it too often, it gets tiresome.

Tried a new Kashi cereal that is really crispy and crunchy.

And while shopping at Costco this morning tried a new veggie burger. Had never tasted one before, it's made out of seeds, spinach, kale, and stuff -- actually tastes quite good and only 45 seconds in the microwave to heat up. Had that with pickled beets for lunch.

In a very low mood this morning so indulged myself with about 4 of these little things called Pastry Bites, filled with raspberry filling -- topped it off with a cup of coffee. Not all that healthy, and it didn't do a thing to improve my weight.

Lunch was much better for me, a big green salad topped with baked chicken breast.

What do you use to mix yours with, Suzie? I normally use 1 cup of coffee and 1 cup of the Diamond Almond Milk.

That's what I had, but I skipped the blueberries today.

I made myself a delicious protein smoothie with 1/2 banana & 1/2 cup of blueberries. It was very filling. emoticon

As I was short of time this morning I didn't eat before church. By the time I got home it was close to 10:30 and I was really hungry. A protein smoothie is the quickest thing I could think of so that's what it was.

It is so nice to now have the option of choosing between Cinnamon Swirl and Chocolate-Peanut Butter.

My hubby made a fantastic breakfast for us this morning. We had English muffin, scrambled eggs, shared a kiwi, a banana, & had 3 super delicious strawberries! Very filling & satisfying. emoticon

Heck, Kathy, all you need to do is stick dinner into your breakfast slot, then eat breakfast as your nighttime meal. You know, lots of people eat breakfast for dinner, so it won't be hard to do. See if it helps you sleep better. Hubby being gone is probably the reason. Isn't that what hubbies are for -- to blame things on?

This morning I tried mixing the two protein powders I have, so a little bit of chocolate and a bit of the cinnamon swirl mixed in with my other ingredients -- it's great, so satisfying! Plus I put my calcium tablets in with my smoothie and that's 2 pills less that I have to swallow. I tried doing it with the vitamin C one time, but it changes the taste of the smoothie.

Eve - your smoothy sounds so good.

I'm having trouble sleeping, too. I wonder if it is the weather changing (I always blame the weather for anything), the full moon approaching along with a moon eclipse, too much happening in my life, hubby out of town... My response is to eat too much later in the day. I just can't seem to stop myself.

However breakfast and lunch are in control. I'm having hot bran cereal with added ground flax and cinnamon and some scrambled egg substitute.

Just could not go to sleep last night. At all. Got up at 2:30, ironed clothes and cleaned until 4:00 back to bed. Still couldn't sleep, so up about 5:30 stayed up a couple of hours, then back to bed, slept until the phone rang and woke me about 9:00. Took a nap this afternoon for 2 or more hours.

While I was up this morning I tried a new protein powder I bought called Cinnamon Swirl, so yummy with almond milk and about 4-5 inches of banana.

I had my usual cholesterol down breakfast with a few added fresh strawberries.

I usually have a soy/fiber protein drink for lunch. It's another part of the cholesterol down program. I usually have an apple with it or as a snack a little later.

I'm allergic to so many foods that my friends have gotten used to eating while I drink a glass of water and visit when we go out. You can train your friends to do the same and still enjoy the social interaction if you want.

From articles that I have read and what my doctor says, you are right to not worry much about your little dab of overweight. It will give you a bit extra if you get really ill and lose weight because of it. My doctor reminds me that I've got more than a dab of fat and need to really work on it.

I'm sure it is a very filling breakfast, Kathy! I find if I don't start my day off with the protein smoothie I have a hard time getting enough protein for the day. And it is so easy and quick to fix, and carries me through the morning without yearning for something.

I look back on my days of going out to eat quite often for breakfast, lunch or dinner and I know it's no wonder I had gained weight. Now I kind of resign myself to putting on a pound if I eat out with a friend -- that's why I don't do it often. And with the way I eat I seem to maintain more than lose, but it's OK. At my age, it's not my ideal weight, but I look presentable in my clothing. There are still little spots of fat here and there, if it comes off great, if it doesn't -- I can live with it.

SCOTTMAMA - the banana/yogurt protein smoothie sounds good.

I had my usual cholesterol down breakfast - 1/4 c old fashioned oats, 1/4 c oat bran, big dash of cinnamon, hot water poured over to "cook". 1/8 c ground flax seed stirred in after it has cooled a bit. 1/2 c egg substitute for additional protein. 1 liter or more of hot black and green tea.

It's a big breakfast, but it gets me off to a great start and when combined with what I'm supposed to do, it helps keep my cholesterol down without meds.

"pancakes" made with egg substitute, a few drops of vanilla flavored stevia, and oat bran, with sugar free orange marmalade on top. A pot of hot tea to drink. Yum!

After shoveling snow for an hour and a half I came indoors to make my fave breakfast. I had a mashed hard boiled egg mixed with my homemade avocado-buttermilk-ranch dressing (1 tsp.), with whole wheat toast, a blood orange, fresh pineapple, & my coffee. Still trying to warm up! emoticon

Sounds like a nice healthy breakfast. I had a yearning for a cinnamon roll, then in an hour or so I made my smoothie so I could get enough protein for the day.

A protein smoothie with extra peanut butter -- I needed something that would stick with me.

And, yummy, it did, I did yard work all afternoon -- about 3-1.2 hours! Needless to say, it will be a 'short walk for Amber tonight.
