Hi Ladies. Mickey so wonderful to hear from you. Prayers continue here as well. Enjoy the day at the shore and also your vacation with your DD and DGD. It sounds like a wonderful break for you and DH.
Mel hope Drew is alright and your DGS finds all the paperwork needed.
Lee, thanks for the insight into bones. Guess I am very lucky. I remember what my DS was like when cancer was in the bones and DR called hers swiss cheese. .
Busy day as usual here, have most of the deliveries out and more set up in the order to arrive next week after the Canada Day celebrations. Keeps me out of trouble for the most part. LOL..
Like Mattie Sue says time to find my book and relax for the night. Good Night and God Bless. Sweet Dreams emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Checking in. I had great grand kids for a couple days,They went home a couple hours ago. Then last week a family reunion traveled quite a way for that. My son drove my car and took me, Also took a couple of his grand kids with us. The rest of the time just doing the normal every day stuff.

I am having a patio put between my house and garage and they are coming tomorrow to tear up my yard to get ready for the cement. It will be just off my deck. I hope I am not making a mistake.

My toenails have been giving me troubles. One is loose from the cuticle. Not sure what caused that. I see the podiatrist Friday. She hurt my toe on my other foot last time I saw her. She said it was ingrown. Told me not to go barefoot but I think shoes and socks are what made my toenail pull loose. Just my opinion.

I am invited to a surprise birthday party this Saturday. It is getting so busy with reunions, church camp and etc.

I don't keep up on the messages, seems time gets away from me.

Yes, it is definitely good to hear from you, Mickey. Enjoy your trip.

Mel, how sad that our teens live in a world where other teens commit suicide; life might have been hard when we were growing up, but I never heard of anyone taking their own life, especially teens.

Doris, I, too, love petunias and of my dozen or more containers, at least five of them have petunias in them. I also have snaps, periwinkles, zinnias, double-flowering moss, begonias and a few others.

I must tell all of you about the marvelous day I had yesterday. A friend, and neighbor, asked me if I would life to go to the Mo. Botanical Gardens with her (she has a season't pass) and I hesitated because of the walking. she assured me we could ride the tram, so I said Yes. Well, we got off the tram at my suggestion to go through the Climatron which was featuring a glass exhibit mixed with the plants........it was walking, but I loved it! When we got out of that building we no longer had our tram ticket (we had to turn it in when we first got on) but she saw one letting some people out and asked the driver if we could get on since I had so much trouble walking and we had exited the Climatron on the far side; thankfully, he let us. So we rode back, then left and went to a little restaurant in the Italian section of town for lunch. The weather was perfect and I had such a wonderful time.......I just love the Gardens and didn't think I would ever be able to go there again and I am so grateful to her for inviting me! Legs are a little sore today, and I stayed home from exercise class as I had my third night of waking very early; 4 this morning and 2 the previous mornings. So I start to doze off every time I sit for any length of time. So I did two loads of laundry just to make myself move.
I learned that another woman I know from craft class passed away last week. If this keeps up, soon I won't know anyone my age anymore! She was a sweetheart; 93 and she just kept going until she fell six months ago and broke a femur. It makes us aware we must be careful not to fall. I saw her about six months ago, and she was still driving, and didn't walk with a cane yet!

Time to call Charter (Spectrum) and tell them there is a problem with my cable. It seems I have to call them ever few weeks. It is so aggravating! I have been trying to get it to work for hours, but kept putting off calling them thinking it might 'fix itself'....silly girl!

Makes my day to see a post from Mickey. Nice to hear you have some get away plans.
I continue to pray for you and the family.

Doris, safe travels as you travel on the interstate. I also don't like all the big trucks. But, without them, we would not be getting shipments for our needs.

Carol, you are doing well with 8k. I usually only aim for 5K per day.

Rosie, enjoy your day off.

Sharon, you had a busy day yesterday.

Betty, I am sure they will be pleased to get the lady bug table.

Maureen, I did enjoy the card game. We got a lot of laughing in between playing cards.

Lee, I am due for a pedicure and Happy feet. Hope Brian gets good results from his test.
Good luck with your paper shredding.

I see where Mattie has not posted lately. Hope all is well with her and the family. Hopefully she went off on a trip to visit her brother.

My DD, Drew had a bad day yesterday. She is going to summer school and one of her class mates took her own life. She was only 15. Drew was devastated. She called me today on her way to school to make sure I said a prayer for her friend.

I am leaving here soon to go pick up her brother and bring back to my house so he can print out some papers he needs for getting into Jr. College. Their printer is not working.

Thoughts and prayers are with you Mickey. Great to hear from you and that you are holding your own. Enjoy the day at the docks by the sea. Good that you will be getting a change of scenery and will spend time with your teenage GD. Know you are looking forward to that.

God Bless you, keep looking up.
Hugs and love,

Hi Friends,
I wanted you to know I am holding my own. It is a gorgeous day here and my DH said he would drive me out to the docks so I could enjoy the sea air and sun. Of course I need to wear long sleeves and a hat and sunscreen but it will be worth it.

Was suppose to have my next chemo treatment July 4th - but they are closed, so they gave me an extra week off. Back in Nov. I rented a house with my DD in Chatham, MA and it was for the week of July 2nd. So my DD will open the house and make the beds, etc. and my DH and I will go up for 4 days. The change of scenery will do us both some good; esp. that our 13 yr. old grand daughter will be there too - she has a great personality and a lot of fun. She learned how to put short videos together (from U-tube) and sends me one every day so I know what she's up to.

Take care everyone - welcome to the new folks. I'll try to post again in a few weeks.

Hi, emoticon
Just stopping in before I travel down by elevator with a pail of water for the flowers at our entry. Many persons have commented very favorably at the beauty they give to our building and so must not let them strain for water. they are mostly petunias which are hearty and need litttle care. I do like the condos to look welcoming.

Nas I will research your country more fully. Thanks for the information.

As I said yesterday, today we have a critique meeting at two and so will travel there with another member at one-thirty. Living where I do, we usually have to take the Interstate to every venue. It seems that each time that there are more and more huge trucks on it and I wish that was not so..Even getting on it is now intimidating sometimes.

Off to do my watering...
Have a good day . The weather here is about perfect today...Till later...Doris emoticon

Morning ladies,

Flying through this morning. Going for dental cleaning, thank goodness she had a cancellation because I couldn't make the last appointment and usually you have to wait 3 months.

Will get in my steps for Fitbit challenge with friends. Seems the maximum I can do is 8K steps, any more than that and boy does my arthritis kick in and I ache head to foot.

Have a healthy day

I had another good day yesterday. Did get my 60 minutes of walking in and lots of things going on all day. It was sunny, 79 degrees and very windy. We finally got a really heavy rain about 1 this morning. Not sure how much but will see on the news. I had a technician here at 8 yesterday morning to start my day by doing the annual maintenance on my air condidtioner so that is good to go again for this summer and then I got out and did some hand weeding and hoeing in the garden. After lunch my daughter Tina and ex sister in law came by for a visit and they ended up staying for 2 1/2 hours and that screwed up my whole afternoon. It was nice to catch up but I was late with my medicines and that messed me up. I then went out to Wal-mart with Barb and then we went to supper. I was glad to get home and get relaxed.

Good Morning everyone,

My tappers don't smile too much when they are dancing because they are concentrating on the steps so I prompted them to smile for the pic. Just thought I would share it with you so you could see what I talk about all the time.

Off to guild today to deliver the lady bug table...they have a room to store it in until Mercyfest.

Wishing you all well...smiles, Betty :)

Hi all. I know I am late. I had Happy feet today (the ingrowns were obstiinate but feel happy now).

Brian finally got to see Urologist yesterday and liked him. First Biopsy date open i for July 26th.
And so we wait.

I came home and got back into the files and realized that I didn't need to hold on to my old
letters to the editor, or Car service going back so car service going back so far. I have a 4 door file cabinet and thinking I can get it down to two drawer as I keep going.

Keep records for 3 years from the date you filed your original return or 2 years from the date you paid the tax, whichever is later, if you file a claim for credit or refund after you file your return. Keep records for 7 years if you file a claim for a loss from worthless securities or bad debt deduction.Jan 24, 2017 Mel I googled this as I remembered my accountant told me I only need to keep 3 years. I need to call him to see if 7 for me as I think we have been declare ina stock loss.

What a day you had Mel. I hope being with your friends helped.

Betty I love the picture of "your dancers" Sweet.

Thanks Leona..I knew you were busy and I am in no hurry.

Well if I am going to get in me time. I must stop.

Doris I have bone scans every 2 years and to have osteoporosis in some places ad "penia" in others. Good luck with your results.

Hugs to all.

Home again...The test was so easy and I had a delightful girl do the testing. I did quiz her on why she thought it was useful and she agreed that perhaps the doctor really wants to know all she can of her patients and is studying each case fully. I get the results by letter within a week and I really feel that I am just fine
I was home within an hour.

I did purchase two books today. I found the last complete short stories of Alice Monro, the Nobel winner for Literature in 2012, I believe, and a novel by Anne Tyler who I know to be a fine writer. Only $2.00 for both and some summer reading for me.
My friends purchased many books, all of the paperback writers as they find them good reads. I just never found those interesting but that's what makes us all individuals, isn't it.
We stopped for light refreshments afterward and I was home in just over three hours.
A nice afternoon.

Nas, you certainly live is an area that I know so little of. My curiosity peeks. What book would you suggest to get me to speed with your country and the area in general. Any ideas?

Nora. if you are looking in. We certainly miss you and are so sad for the loss of your dear friend. It is so heartrending to lose the companionship of many years...Prayers and come back to us when you can. Please.

Off again to see about dinner, although I do not usually eat until at least 6:30 to 7:00. I must check a recipe for some inspiration. I have been so unimaginative lately. .I do have a third of a cabbage and a cole slaw might be tasty. What with it.??..Oh' living alone poses such problems sometimes.
The Cubs won last evening and that was great..I will have the game from Washington on my I Pad again tonight....Go Cubs!

Have a good Wednesday. I will travel to a writer's critique at Liz's home at two.
Best to all..... emoticon emoticon ...Doris

Helen, thanks for the update on Nora. Hopefully she will connect with us soon. The last we heard from her is that her family was taking her on a trip.

Nas, since my DGS is dating a gal from your part of the world, I found out that there are many differences in the region.

Maureen, hope the sun shines soon.

Doris, good luck with the test. I have not had one done is a few years.
Yes, I have tried the Gelato. We have stores that see nothing but Gelato. Yummy.

Carol, enjoy your busy day. Sounds like a fun day.

Leona, I hope you enjoy your new iPhone. Always nice to keep up with technology.

Betty, loved the picture of the tappers.

I hope today is a better day for me. Yesterday I took my DGS to the foot Dr. But, his mother gave me the wrong address and I did not have the name of the Dr. Then took him home and found out they had a water problem from their AC. Had to the call the AC man. Sunday, DD found water in the laundry room. Saturday she had a new washer install. Told her to shut of the water to the washer. Called Lowes and still waiting for a call back to schedule an appointment.
Good part is the AC man did not charge me as he had just been there last month to do a AC check up.
Tonight I have cards at my house. Will go to the store to buy something to serve as I am not turning on the oven with our warm weather.

Mary Lou and other who might have been wondering about our friend Nora in Australia.

I went on Facebook and she had posted a picture of herself and a dear friend - who died two weeks later after the picture was taken. That was approx. two weeks or so ago. Maybe that's the reason why we haven't heard from her.

Keep your fingers crossed. . .!

Hi,
Off for a bone density test at the hospital At this age, I don not understand the theory behind having it but since the Dr. ordered it, I am following her order. Perhaps she feels it is important to see these old bones at nearly 90, What do you think?.
Some days now I am feeling the age...but then again there are days when all goes so well that my mind is in my forties once more..Oh, I did love that portion of my life!!! But 'ah the memories, what would we do without them?

Have any of you tried the Gelato that the grocery stores are stocking? When my daughter, Laura was visiting, I bought some, a Caramel, Vanilla, and we both liked it greatly over the usual ice cream..I take only a small portion and savor every bite...

Well off to the appointment. I am going to a book warehouse with some friends this afternoon. I so hope I will just look and not come home with any of them (the books I mean). I have been to this place many times and it is 'dangerous.'..Ha.

Bye for now....Doris. emoticon

Morning ladies,

Betty - that is a cute picture, how long have you been taking Tap?

Leona - lunch sounded like a good time, I always have leftovers for the next day...so much food, almost overwhelming.

Today is busy: this morning we have the annual senior fair sponsored by different health groups. Free testing, information etc. Then this afternoon, the next session of my Stretch and Flex class begins for the rest of the summer. I really love this class!!!!!

Have a healthy day

Hello all,

Betty- What happy group. Thanks for sharing.

Irene- Sounds like you are having a great time. I think Americans and Canadians love to visit Europe is because we see so many ancient things and buildings.

I watched another program on Stonehenge again last night. They keep coming up with new theories. I remember the first time I saw it and how impressed I was.

Camey- Hope you get it soon.

This morning at 6:30 AM, it was warmer at 47*. Soon the humidity will be back so I better not complain.

Had a nice lunch with a son, my daughter and two of my granddaughters. I had a $41.02 e-card from one of my surveys so we all ate for about $10.00 with the tip. My son always leaves a nice tip. He came late so we shared the meals and I still had leftovers. Chili's has a special for $10.00 I got a salad, ribs and a chocolate molten cake. My daughter had the fajitas special for $10.00 and had plenty.

Lee- I will get the list for you. I have not forgotten you.

Today we meet the financial man the bank. I am not happy with him at all.

My son knocked his phone off his workbench and so had to get a new one. He needed one anyway as his was giving him problems. He also got me an IPhone SE. Mine is an old phone and a flip phone and was not holding the charge on the battery. I keep it in the car for emergency. I was not expecting one. My granddaughters were trying to show me how to use it.

NAS- Your Prime Minister, Mr. Modi, was here. He had a meeting with President Trump.

Need to get busy.

Take care,
Leona emoticon

Good Morning everyone,

We had such a nice time at our tap lunch yesterday...We went to a marina down on the river. The river was high so they had planks for us to walk over to get to the boat. We spent a couple of hours there just chatting and having fun. Tap class was fun and I took a pic of the gals that were there...we had three missing, but here is the little group of 5-6-7-8 Tappers.

Another nice day and I hope to get up to the pool later.

Mani: I hope all works out for the best with the dryer situation...It is so frustrating to have to wait. Thinking of you..

Wishing you all lots of smiles, Betty :)

Yesterday was another great day. It warmed up nicely and I did my 60 minutes of walking. I also got 3 loads of laundry washed, folded and put away. I went out and finished weed whacking the back yard and it looks so nice. Hailley got her hair cut yesterday and she is so cute now. It is time to get her in and get her teeth cleaned. Hope to do that next week. Hope you all have a good day.

Popping in before heading to bed. Read the posts and have a couple of things to comment on. Helen we still have Costco here in Ontario. I have a membership and do manage to get there almost once every month. Don't always buy a lot as only two of us and most is more larger sizes .
Lee some of the jewellery is really nice and some is rather expensive once in a while., My downfall is the earrings, not so much the necklaces. .
Rather dull and sometimes wet here today. Not much else happening.

Hello,
I just sent a long message and it disappeared..I am fine and the finger is healed.
I commented on the great trip Irene is taking in Wales and one I am to enjoy in October..I went into long detail and so should learn my lesson to send what I have early before it is lost in space!
Good to hear from you all...I did love the POOH cartoon. Each day of our lives is precious and we must enjoy each one as the best.
Off to get a lunch. Till later... Doris emoticon

P.S. I added my current book as my photo once again for the new folks. The cover was painted here by a prominent watercolor artist. I am very pleased with it. The photo is of my grandmother born on the Isle of Skye and finally lived in Chicago in the late 1800's and into the vey early 1900's. She died at my father's birth and so I never met her. Nas thanks for the hugs. I sure need them. Called for the dryer today and now order coming Thurs.
So sick of this run around. They could not give me an earlier date after I called back and got the 2-inch vent to 4 inches because of code changing for it. I got up and hung towels out before we get showers this afternoon. Such a pain and hope this is the last time. I have sheets downstairs to do but beds do not have to be made until Monday next week so maybe can let them wait.

Mary Lou Do you live in an apt? I live in a ranch we bought 53 years ago and we have a big back yard. We used to have a pool above ground in it before but took it down too much work now.

We have no restrictions. I remember when young the pully from the window hanging out clothes.

Well, bike done and off to bake salmon for lunch.

Hi all:

Loved Pooh Bear Helen.

Mary Lou you never talk too much. I just enjoy your humor, as despite your pain you manage to sound so upbeat. Ice and moist heat are my go too as well. Have the moist heat pad on right now. Glad you make the effort to go when you can. Good for you gal!

Leona, now I know how you find time to do so much. You get up with the birds. I would call that cold there.

Carol I too have step tracker. It is inexpensive and probably not completely accurate but it reminds me to move it.

Sound llke you are enjoying Wales Irene. Enjoy your descriptions.

I had my usual restful Sunday. Church and then a nap. and some TV. Yesterday was the first time I allowed my self to do some more shredding. (getting there)

Dot it sound like you had a good Sunday. Aren't Sunday dozes fun.??

Maureen yesterday I saw the most delicate necklace and just loved it. The gal told me it was from Avon. I had forgotten you carry jewelry. I thought of you when she said Avon.

I need to hustle my bustle I guess. Need to go to the store.

Hugs to all.

Morning all. . . !

Irene - what an interesting trip! I'm learning about Wales!!!

Carol - I don't think we have Costco here in Calgary. Maybe not in Canada at all! We used to have them.

Sharon - You put me to shame.

Mary Lou - Talk all you want - I love to read your posts.

I went on Facebook yesterday and discovered my sil, Emma, died last Wednesday. Usually I get family news from another sil but I guess she was too busy and that's why she posted the info. on Facebook. Quite a shock b/c I liked Emma the best!

Have a great day!

Morning ladies,

Drinking coffee and on Sparks for a short while. Need to get ready for my Coumadin appointment, then a stop at Starbucks.

Later, we zip (or zoom) to Costco and pick up veggies. They have a huge selection of Organic, love it. Also....walking around to get in steps for my Fitbit challenge. I am in 2 challenges, and 1 of them I am always near the bottom because they are REALLY walkers, huge numbers but it still prompts me to take extra steps.

Irene, love reading about your trip to Wales

Hello on Monday .this weeks chats will be about my week in Wales,
I love touring round seeing things but half aday out is enough now, then back to the alartmrnt to put my feet up.
This morning I thought if you and him yiu would have marvelled at a placr we visited. We were looked for a coffee stop and saw a sign with a cup on it. No words just a cup so took a side track that went into woods , yes we found the cup meant coffee but it was at a site of an Iron Age settlement . I had to ask how old that was! 3000 years ! It was a reconstructed iron age group of huts . They wouldn't have drunk coffee but we did and looked around. It was truly amzing to think we were walking round a place where people had lived so ago. You can dress up in costume wnd hsve photos taken but the big difference is modern people looked too healthy and clean with good teeth. Unlike how they would have looked . But i still loved the experience of being there deep in the woods .

Good morning everyone,

It was a beautiful day Saturday and the shower was outside under tents with lots of good homemade food...It was a real country welcome...The ride home was a bit slow...they are working on one of our bridges and traffic was wending it's way to another bridge..so I had to crawl along for a bit.

Sunday was quiet, went to church and then home to varnish the table..so now it is finished and started on the other table. It had a warped top and didn't know what to do about it, and then I tried one of the tiles left over from my kitchen floor and the tile fit perfectly, so that will serve as a base and I think I will make it a checker table.

Off to tap class today and afterwards we are all going to lunch down by the river. It should be a good time. ..weather is nice.

Wishing you all happy day and lots of smiles, Betty :)

It was a good day yesterday. It was sunny, light wind and it has started to warm up a little again. We got to 67 degrees. I transplanted some Iris and then split the mother plant and replanted it and got rid of the rest. I then finished hoeing and weed whacking around the house. I got the bird baths cleaned and watered the flowers. It felt good to get out and get something done again. I also got my 60 minutes of walking done. Hope you all have a good day today.

Good evening friends. quiet day here . Church this morning and then a rain storm for about a half hour. Heavy but short. Lots of clouds and dark ones on the horizon. Our Sunday night cruise in was very small, only the real core of about 20 instead or the 50 plus the usually show up. Rather windy and cool, so called early by just after 7.30pm.
Helen had a giggle over Pooh and Piglet. So true.
Not much else happening except more rain in the forecast, not needed here., Wish I could send to whoever needs it. Just doesn't quite work that way., up to the Higher Power ...
Time to go and relax , see what is on TV and then go to bed. Good Night and God Bless Sweet Dreams emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Mary Lou - So good to hear from you but sorry about your pain. I hope it gets better for you.

Nice to hear that the book review was liked. Carol-Let me know if you like it.

I started Rembrandt's Angel by Steven M. Moore he sent to me. About New Scotland Yard and art being stolen. Only on page 56. emoticon

We are going to Chili's tomorrow to use a $42.00 coupon I got from one of my surveys. Might as well use it when there are a bunch of us. Should be 5 so far.

Vahina- I think sometimes ministers get worn out. I think the potlucks are a great idea.

Take care,

Today was the first Sunday for our new pastor. If today was any indication, I think we will be pleased with her. At least, we know she is good at this part of her job.

The last pastor we had was very good at the beginning but then he began to change everything and lost a lot of members. Me included, I haven't been to my church for about 3 years because of him.

We used to have a potluck dinner once a month, changed it to every 5th Sunday for a couple of them and then no more. Very rarely had any old time songs, just the new stuff (some of which are very good) but do like the old but good hymns more often.

On July 9th, we are having a dinner as a welcome for our new pastor. Hope they will continue as it gives everyone a chance to just sit and chat a bit. I must be getting old.

Hello All,

I really don't know where the day had gone. Have not been lurking read all the posts and my goodness you all chat a lot...LOL SMILE!!

Leona enjoyed your book report and sounds like a book I would enjoy. I prefer novels with some meat in them. Don't care for sex and swearing...but can skip the parts that I don't like if the book had been well written and has kept my interest. I don't have to read what I don't like.

Yesterday I watched a couple of the Hallmark movies..dropped of to sleep a couple of times. giggle! I do the same thing if reading a romance book which I must say I find boring. Anyway yesterday was a lovely me day. Today I have done the usual Sunday stuff. Need to run to the store I am out of a couple of important items.

Leona you mentioned our Aussie friend Nora...some time ago I did send her an email...have her email address. She never answered it which makes me think she is no longer with us. Anytime through the years that I contacted her through her email address she always replied. Will try again since you mentioned her.

Good to hear from you Mary Lou, you remain in my prayers for the pain you endure and if the pain pills help and you can get to do the things you enjoy, then I would take them...as long as you can tolerate them. I never could tolerate pain medication did weird things to me...the couple of times I was told to take them after surgery. Can take over the counter medication for most of what ails me when necessary. God Bless you, so proud of you going to exercise class.

Guess I had better stop and get to the store.
Ditto to all that were mentioned in Mel's post. God bless you Mel you are great.
All the best,
Dot

Helen....love that cartoon! Made me smile.

Yes, Lee, I was lurking. Every now and then I like to listen instead of talking; maybe because when I talk, I talk too much.

I managed to stay for church after Sunday school this morning. It has been ages since I was able to sit through both, but I admit I took a pain pill before I left home and another between SS and church. I don't like to do that, and seldom do, but I wanted to enjoy both services for a change. Not sorry I did that, either. Now I will revert to my heating pad and cold packs as is my usual pain remedy.

Have a potluck tomorrow....have to make something today because I have exercise class in the morning. Kind of wish I didn't feel obligated to go; our speaker will be speaking on cancer.
But then I feel like I really should go, as our group is getting smaller and smaller and also because our activities leader works very hard at finding things we seniors can do, or speakers we can relate to. So will probably go when I would rather play Rummy Cube, or Mahjong after exercise class is over.

Carol, you have encouraged me to walk more. I wear a step counter, when I think of it and I always walk more when I wear it.

Camey, how lucky you are to have a place to hang out. It has been many years since I have lived where you could hang clothes out. Most places have restrictions against that.

Now for a cup of coffee and to read the Sunday paper (I, too, prefer to read the news; not on the computer but from the good old-fashioned newspaper.)

Get (or stay) rested.

Mary Lou

Well, Sunday again. I am washing and hanging outside with the sun. No dryer yet. What a pain that is. We finally got the vent to 4 inches as was 2 and somehow they say you can't use 2 anymore. Now, the pain of trying to get another appointment for the dryer. We have been hanging outside and have to watch for occasional showers. Clothes are almost ready to put outside.I did clothes to wear yesterday and today are socks and other stuff, tomorrow towels, hoping the sun stays out. May get dryer Wed not sure.

As for pain, infection gone but still occasionally get burn now and then that goes into the stomach.
When I see the doc I am going to see about Omeprazole which is what my GF takes for acid.
I did not eat anything acid and yet I still get a burn. Makes it hard to tell when you have an infection if it doesn't go away completely.
So much fun getting old. LOL Hope all are doing ok.

Mel still waiting for publishers and agents which I wrote to in April to answer. They take forever and sometimes don't answer.

Lee thanks for caring.

Hailey is developing small pimples that are growing. I suppose it comes with old age. I notice her right hip is starting to give her a little problem. Both hips are bad so don't know how long I will have her but she walks well when she goes on one and still can jump on the divan. She turns l0 in Dec so the snow could be a problem. I hope he doesn't get another dog at this age. I will be 85 next year and he is hurting with back and will be 8l, almost 4-year difference in our age. I think we are too old to have to take a dog to the vet if we get another one. When we have to take Hailey at the end I have to call my son as DH will not be able to pick her up and put her in the car as we do not have a back only a trunk. Hate the thought of it.

Good morning all. Very nice book review Leona. Thanks.

Glad you are enjoying Wales Irene.

That's a lot of shredding Mel. I only got one bag shredded yesterday as was watching
Hallmark and reading old Christmas letters I wrote, Also a long description of my sister as a child for my niece I wrote last year and many letters to the editors. So you can see I got sidetracked. Plan to let it go for today. Good for you.

Elsie what a large family dinner and what fun.

I hope all have a blessed and peaceful Sunday.

Hugs all.

I was just doing a survey and it asked if I had been to Australia in the last 6 months and it dawned on me we have not heard from Nora for a long time. Have I missed any messages she has posted?

Hello all,

Cool again this morning. My son called last night to say they had recalled parts of the fireplace and not to use it. I told him not to lie to his mother. He laughed because he knew I was using it and it is on now for a bit. For those who do not know, my husband designed the fireplace and our son built it. It has the metal liners, brass and brick on the outside and a wooden mantle my husband made.

Irene- Enjoy the trip.

Sharon- It is cool up there also.

I need to do the book review on the book I finished last week also. Book reviews are not easy so I give lots of credit to the authors who have written books like Camey and Doris. I think Frances has also written but not sure if a book. Let us know.

My son will be here today to mow the lawn. He takes the lawn mower back and forth to his house and I love it because I get to see him and his daughter more.

I will go into Minneapolis tomorrow and have lunch with my daughter, son and the granddaughter from Texas as she will go home tomorrow night. Her boyfriend is excited he got into this medical school.

Thanks for the remarks on the book review.

Take care,
Leona emoticon

We had rain showers off an on all day and it was cold. I even had to wear a sweat shirt and another open sweat shirt to just stay warm inside. It has been a really strange year for weather. Our rain didn't amount to much at all and more is needed. We need a couple of days with good soakers to get back where we need to be. I did my 60 minutes of walking and just messed around inside. Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning from Wales , a calm gray morning as I sit here in our holiday apartment right by the Irish sea ,
We arrived yesterday a 6 hour drive from home but it feels like another world . So calm and relaxing, a beautiful apartment and so much to see and do, but for now we are settling in and unwinding, we plan to explore a bit later today l.
Yes I had been to Wales before but not this part in .Cardigan bay. There's so much history here castles and traditions . Wales has its own language but everything is in Welsh and English and they speak English generally .
Leona I enjoyed your book reviews , I am In a book club we review a book each month. I find it hard if I hadn't enjoyed the book. I shall have to learn from you to give a fair assessment even if I hadn't enjoyed it, I brought this months book away to read and review .Its a biography of some one I really dislike so I will find it hard to read and be fair about the book,
Have a good day. Irene

there was 20 here for our monthly family dinner.......our numbers are growing.....4 generations here....Valerie made BBQ chicken in a counter top convection oven and it sure turned out delish......not a piece was left.......so moist and juicy plus the grease/fat all drains to the bottom tray so it can be discarded......plus using this doesn't heat up the house.....got quite a bit of the mowing done this morning and had grandson weed whack around the A/C unit..

After church tomorrow, Valerie and I will be enjoying our final free night at the hotel...

Betty---I agree with all the others...that table is amazing...

getting sleepy and yawning a lot........Elsie

emoticon Have had a busy day here. Started laundry at 8am an then was out much of the day working with members of our Car Club doing a bit of a show gearing up to July 1st. Home about 6.30 pm. to finish drying and folding the last of the laundry. A very long day in the sun and warm breeze, Managed not to get sunburnt, as I would have only blistered and peeled.
Mel I'm not sure what kind of book it was but I suspect it came from the U.S. and maybe was a very large book on quilting as this gal is an avid quilter. Also the exchange on our money does not help.. Very tired after all the fresh air so will keep this short and say Good Night and God Bless. Sweet Dreams. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Hello all,

Watching Columbo on the Hallmark Channel today. emoticon

Rosie- I think that is fine. emoticon That is what I would do.

Betty- That will sell. Nice talent. emoticon

Irene- My father's (step) is from Wales. they were Jopling and later changed to Joplin. I have not looked for information in Wales but I do have the Jopling family chart.
We were in Wales for one night when we traveled and never got the chance to go back.

Dot- I also like the salad at Olive Garden.
Nice visit from family.
Kids do grow fast.
My husband's family in Portland, Maine send a picture of a little one who is now 5 years old and so it has been 4 years since we saw her.

Carol- Parades are fun. emoticon

Best to those I did not mention.

I gave the book a 5 star rating. It was a really good read and I just had to put up with the language. It did get better. emoticon
Lake Superior is a very favorite spot of mine. I think I will get one of my kids and go up there this summer. it has been over three years since I have been there and it is only about 1 1/2 hours away from the cabin.

We have had sun, rain, a little hail, wind and clouds today. I had to get the chill out of the cabin so had the fireplaces on for a few minutes.

Take care,
Leona emoticon

My review on The Lightkeeper's Daughters. Leona

Book review of The Lightkeeper's Daughters by Jean. E. Pendziwol

From the back of the book:

Though her mind is still sharp, Elizabeth's eyes have failed. No longer able to linger over her beloved books or gaze at the paintings that move her spirit, she fills the void with music and memories of her family—a past that suddenly becomes all too present when her late father's journals are found amid the ruins of an old shipwreck.

With the help of Morgan, a delinquent teenager performing community service, Elizabeth goes through the diaries, a journey through time that brings the two women closer together. Entry by entry, these unlikely friends are drawn deep into a world far removed from their own—to Porphyry Island on Lake Superior, where Elizabeth’s father manned the lighthouse seventy years before.

As the words on these musty pages come alive, Elizabeth and Morgan begin to realize that their fates are connected to the isolated island in ways they never dreamed. While the discovery of Morgan's connection sheds light onto her own family mysteries, the faded pages of the journals hold more questions than answers for Elizabeth, and threaten the very core of who she is.

Expected publication: July 4th 2017 by Harper Collins.

ISBN
0062572032 (ISBN13: 9780062572035)

Leona's Review:

This is my first read by Jean E. Pendziwol. I received a complimentary copy to read and review from the author.

Morgan was caught spraying graffiti and was to sent to a senior citizen home for community service. Her first project was to paint a fence.
Morgan met Elizabeth and they became connected by Morgan reading the journals of Elizabeth's father since Elizabeth is blind.
Elizabeth begins to tell Morgan the story about the life and her family at the Porphry Point Lighthouse. There are chapters that take the reader into Canada on Lake Superior. This is a book of fiction but has many historical places. Some are Trowbrige Island, Port Arthur, Sleeping Giant Island and Pie Island in Ontario.
What a read this is about a mystery of a family. When Elizabeth was telling her family history, I had a hard time putting down the book.
Elizabeth and Emily are twins. Emily does not talk but has a special talent of drawing and connecting with nature. Elizabeth takes care of her sister and understands her.
I have to say I absolutely did not like the language used by Morgan. I have problems reading books with the f word and the a** word.
World War ll is part of the history of the book. The brothers of Elizabeth, Peter and Charlie, are in the war.
Some of my notes that I took are the garden, collecting gull eggs on Hardscrabble Island, World War ll, shipwrecks, maintaining the lighthouse, a found wooden cross, Fibber McGee and Molly, winter, storms, collecting plants, dragonflies, Canada Dominion Day, Great Depression and foster homes for Morgan.
The assistant lightkeeper, David Fletcher, brought gifts for Elizabeth and Emily. Books for Elizabeth and paints for Emily.
The Lightkeeper's Daughters kept me interested until the end and I was very surprised at the many turns in the book.
I am giving it a 5 star rating even though I did not like some of the language. It is a good read.
The opinions are my own.

Carol, that sounds like a fun weekend.

Lee, I got rid of lots of paper last night. Filled my shredder twice. My DH kept lots of receipts and bank statements. I now only keep my tax info for 7 years. It was interesting to read the bank statements and to compare them over the years.

Camey, good luck with the book.

Helen, a good day for you also. We need to stop and smell the flowers in our lives.

Rosie, enjoy the sun while it is shinning.

Betty. the table is beautiful. Good job.

Sharon, we all need days of relaxation. Enjoy it.

Irene, what a great get away. Have you been to that part of the country before?

Maureen, $100 on a book. Was it written in gold ink?

Today, I might do some more shredding. I also have to go to the grocery store to pick up a few items, purchase my weekly power ball ticket and that I might spurge and buy myself a Ice cream cone from McDonalds.

I might not be on here tomorrow as a friend asks me to go to a play. It is something about a boy and a dog.

Morning ladies,

Flying through as we have a parade this morning, DH is working w/police dept on the sidelines and I am going to watch. It is our city's 60 anniversary. Heard the fireworks last night, and there is a 3 day Summerfest.

Will get in my steps and have a few errands to run.

Waving to all emoticon

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

Don't make todays choices be tomorrows regret
