Doris I hope they keep Janny in hospital until she gets rid of the worst of the pneumonia so that it does not keep recurring. Prayers included.
Lee hope the Rep. made it to the appointment today and things will improve very much.
Frances things are extra busy in your world today. Good to know all is well.

Mauitn, I love Nashville. I went there years ago to BMI to record my songs, which later two were in a 45 album.

Mel, 60 today and I walked with DH and Hailey l5 min in the morning and l5 in the afternoon and then did my bike for 60 min. I need to get these 4 lb.s off again. Winter I can't walk as too cold for me, so bike does not do much. We are getting cards from Humana for free gym. They should be here in ten days. Getting active now that spring is coming.

Dot I wish I could drink coffee, but acid forms and I end up taking an acid. I used to drink tea, coffee, hot chocolate with no problem before.Getting old things have a way of changing.

Hope the sun is out tomorrow as it is suppose to go to 70 and I want to get my walking in while I can. I think we might get some rain Sat so I will not go walking. I did take my cane just in case and did use a few times to steady myself.

Ah, DOT, that's terrible! Hate the blahs. For over 5 years now I hovered around depression with no explanation. Had the flu since before Christmas, and it has just been the last two days that I feel "normal" - like the chain that has been keeping me down finally lifted. I can't explain it. Was it all the zinc I had taken with my Vit. C? Maybe my body was lacking it. Eating a whole lot less? Certainly nothing great has happened in my life to make me over-joyed! Just hope I never go back to that hole - where it took all my effort just to pick up the phone to make a call, etc. Cleaning the house? Forget it! If it's just a slump, Dot, and it won't last, just take it easy for a day or two. Sometimes we just over do stuff and don't even realize it.

Doris - so happy the emergency with your daughter is over! What a relief for you.

Thanks for that big cup of coffee!

Helen Good Morning you and I got a late start today...I am even later than you! Hope you have had a good day. This is the second day for me to be feeling blaa...it seems like everything takes to much effort. So I have been reading and recuperating. How about you. Hope this horrible mood with lift by tomorrow. The weather matches my mood. Cloudy, raining on and off and no sunshine. I am not sick or anything just the BLAA's

All the best to everyone,

Iím still trying to recover from the weekend with visitors and yesterday taking a neighbor into Nashville for hand surgery. A long day of driving, sitting in a hospital and getting her back home and settled in with a sitter for the night. Today, I hope to get out in the yard and do a bit of clean up.

I was amazed to see in Nashville a certain type of tree in full bloom. Iím guessing it might be a flowering cherry. Not sure. Beautiful.

Frances- Is this travel for business or military? He will be tired. emoticon

The fog lifted about 9 AM and I was finally able to see across the lake. emoticon

Yesterday. I told my kids we might see trees getting leaves and today I saw that I have some bushes by the lake that are getting buds. This is February and not April. emoticon

We are getting rain now and it is only in the 30s. emoticon We are getting spoiled with the 50s and 60s, or at least I am.

Did not get here yesterday as I had a busy day getting ready for card players. All went well and we had lots of laughs as we played Hand and Foot from 6 until 10.
Today is a visit with the Tax man and then dinner meeting with a club before going to play more cards.
I don't think the scales will like me next Monday.

Frances, wow, you have very busy family today. Flying all over the world. Pray their trips go well.

Doris, I hope they keep Janny under care until she is truly over her Pneumonia.
The HOA problems are sad, but hopefully will be solved. My HOA has been doing some expanding of our club house and refurnishing the interior. This is causing problems as they did not budget enough and then had to ask for more money. A continuing saga.

Camey, sounds like nice weather in your part of the world. Enjoy.

Lee, good luck with your appointment today. I know you have been working on this for a long time.

Leona, you are really having some weird weather with fog and a winter storm watch. I know my relatives in WI, said it was 70 last weekend and this next weekend they will be having snow.

Sharon, sounds like you are in the same weather pattern as Leona.

Betty, my advice when they lay the tile. Make sure they seal the grout. As you may recall, I just finished sealing and painting my grout as they did not do it when the tile was laid. If it is not sealed it really can get dingy looking over time.

Elsie, hope the sunshine is appearing in your life today.

You all have used so many different words to describe this group. They are all true.
So I am going to say my word is DITTO. to all of them. It is a great group.

Time to close and get busy.

Just a really quick pop-in as things are busy around here. My son is probably on the ground in Dubai about now, before heading on to Bangkok and then Laos. My son-in-law is in the air somewhere between D.C. and Puerto Rico. So much going on!

Love the game idea, Mary Lou! I will add SYMBIOTIC. I'm often amazed that so many diverse people from various places around the country and the world can come together here in such a friendly, supportive, positive way.

Have to run but promise tonight or tomorrow morning I'll post more.

It was too late last night to post as I had a Home Owners meeting at our library in the evening, However I did hear from my granddaughter and daughter at a little before five last evening.

It was a surprise as it was Janny herself on the phone for just one moment. Her voice was very weak and she only wanted me to hear her voice to let me know she was o.k..I know her so very well.

She told me that the doctors said it is double Pneumonia as we all surmised and she said it is worse than the original bout she suffered in mid December. (I do believe that it never left her.)
She was still in the ICU and had not been out of bed since Friday. Then Adrienne got on the phone to tell me that she was staying with her from early morning until after dinner hours and then travelling back to Janny's home one hour distant to sleep.

She said that she must fly back to Miami on Sunday or she could lose her teaching job but Al, her dad, would take over, leave his job of tax preparation until Janny could get home.
I do worry that she will be alone then, but suppose the hospital will not let her be released until she can do for herself. Adrienne said that she will call me again tomorrow to keep me updated. I do feel helpless in every sense of the word but I would be no real help for her there at this age, probably only a hindrance She lives in a two story home with the bedrooms upstairs and I do not do stairs well...I so wish I was younger and stronger right now..

That is all that I know except to say they both see very confident that this hospital is doing all it can for her and she is satisfied with their care..

I will keep you updated after tomorrow again.

Our meeting of the home owners for our condo was all about funds and how we will pay for the repairs to these buildings that were so shoddily built. (The originally owners filed bankruptcy.) They are only ten years old and have had tremendous problems in the construction that must be remedied It is going to take much money to do this and in the meantime so many crucial housekeeping items must be let go (as they have been now for well over a year) because the HOA just does not have the funds and we are paying a huge monthly fee that they say must be substantially increased to cover repairs..It is a sad state of problems. Had I known when I bought in, I would have looked elsewhere..Our property values have gone down severely because of the problems.

My interior here is lovely and I have no problems here .It is all in the exterior and ground water seepage that is the problem..

I will not outlive all of their long detailed items to be rectified anyway but in the meantime, it is so discouraging as to the huge amounts of funds we must come up with..

Oh, well, as my dear husband always said, "It is only money.!"
Enough of my worries..

I'll check in tomorrow....Love and keep smiling, no matter what... Doris. emoticon

Hoping to get my hair cut today, pay excise bill and mail books to my girlfriend. Then want to do lunch. Yesterday took my first l5 min walk and hope to do another today as weather is going to be close to 60 and no wind. Wind bothers me walking. I also did my bike and what did I lose?
I only lost .1, big deal. We had pizza yesterday at least I didn't gain. i lose better when it is spring and summer than in the winter.

I am usually bloated in the morning and can't get rings on, but then it goes away. Don't know what is doing it? Been catching up on sleep, and so happy spasms stayed away. But never know when they are going to react.

i put away a bunch of slacks too long for me now where I shrunk. With my hands can't sew hem. As for tape, I have to pin up the hem first and that is also hard to do. But I do have some I can wear that are short. Want to get into some of my size small again, right now in medium tops. I range from size l2 to l4 depending on mfg.

It is so nice to see the sun. Rest of week is suppose to be in the 50 and 60 range. Sort of a Jan thaw but in Feb instead. Be nice if spring came early.

I didn't see how this started but my word for the team is "caring".

Thanks all but Pam called me before I was ready to go to say the advocate had to postpone til today as his daughter's car broke down and he had to help of course.Rescheduled for today at 11 and I am hoping the rain doesn't put him off again. an hour's drive for him. 15 minutes for me.

Thanks for the dump cake recipe Betty. Methinks I should stay away from it but copied it anyway. lol

I agree with Dot, we all have various setbacks that don't let us do what we used to but
my theory is move it (safely) or lose it.

I did use my extra time yesterday to finally dust (Helen) among other things.

Off to shower and dress and hope we can make some progress on this SSA thing.

Hugs all,

Hello all,

I would say this group is "active".

I finally left a little after 10 AM yesterday and had thick fog for about 35 miles then the sun peeked out. My son called me a little before 10 AM and said the sun was out in Minneapolis. We are supposed to have fog again this morning. I will see when it gets light.
We are in a winter storm watch again.

Mickey- emoticon

This time I baked the dump cake in two 8" x 8" pans and sometimes in the large cake pan. I measured the cake mix into two batches so it was even. I buy my pie filling mix at the dollar store and it is always good. I use a lot of the pie filling for my Rhubarb Delight so I always have some on hand.
I am more of a baker in the summer than the winter.

Maureen-I love Avon products. They do keep you busy. emoticon

I will stay home today but will need to get some milk tomorrow. Prayer shawl meeting tomorrow so I will get the groceries then.

One son called last night on his way home from work. I rarely see or hear from him during tax season. He used to work for a major tax company (over 25 years) and decided to go on his own a few years ago and is doing good.

Need to start the day.

Take care.

I usually have the"cake in a cup" mixture. I don't think I do right now. My great grand kids like to make their own cake in a cup.

Still not feeling the best so I think I will head to bed to read or watch TV or maybe even sleep?
I did go for a walk for about 4 blocks

Doris-the Elon lecture sounds like it was interesting. I know the waiting to hear about Janny has to be difficult. Prayers continue.

Helen-I am happy my DS does my taxes. He told me that since my stuff is organized and that he uses turbo tax -"It's no big deal."

Betty-I forgot about the 3-2-1 cake, will have to try it again.

Marlene-I got to see our tulips one day last year before the deer ate all of them emoticon

Lee-hope you had a positive outcome with the SSA advocate.

Leona-I loved that video. When my son was at college, he kidded me that he only read my letters closely when it had money in it. The following week I put in a single dollar. He happened to open the letter in front of a group of friends and the dollar bill fell out, then he had to explain it to his friends. Guess he really got razzed.

Flo-we don't always respond to all the posts-depends upon our day, etc. sorry to hear you didn't feel well today.

Take care.

Hi everyone-my one word is 'Capable'. My dump cake or crazy cake was classified as a depression cake.

3 Cups all purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 Cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp white vinegar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 Cups cold water

Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda and cocoa together in a large bowl. Make three wells, put oil into one well, vinegar into second and vanilla into the third. Pour water over all and stir well with a fork. Pour into 9" x 13" pan (I grease the bottom) and bake at 350* for 30-40 min.

He should be short the way he dragged that poor shepherd on the cement with his tractor.
I hate seeing that. You should be able to find it on the U tube as they said it was all over the computer.

Well, got the grocery done, then put stuff away, made pizza, and feed Hailey and took a walk with dh and her for l5 min. Then came and did my bike. Then laid down for an hour and Hailey came and got me up as she wanted to eat. She will not stop barking if she is hungry.

Tomorrow, off to cut hair, I hope and mail book packages to my friends. My gf is sending me one. I love books.

Thanks, ladies for the cake recipe's, and yes, if I walk outside, I will use a cane, I have a couple of them, that my hubby, had, my osteopathic Dr. that I had b4, said if I walked, that I should use a cane, I did a few times last year, to walk around the block.

Doris, prayers for your daughter?

We had a beautiful sunny day here, you could go without a jacket and some had shorts on, bu, looks like we have a storm coming on Friday, I hope they are wrong, but, then, this is only February, we have lost a lot of snow, though, a lot, as it is almost gone

Hi,
No news yet but I just thought I would tell all about the Elon lecture of today. Our professor was so awe inspiring..He is still a young man but with so many honors to his credit, Masters, PhD etc etc, and yet he was raised in Missouri of parents who did not complete high school and yet he went on to the military and then just kept taking class work for his future until he teaches at Elon mainly in Sociology. . He takes his group to Peru each year where they are exposed to many challenges like climbing, tenting and getting to know each other and just how they feel about life and what it holds for them, that is, about getting along in life without prejudice of anyone..Anyway, I was glad that I did go and now I am just waiting for the call about Janny.

Thanks again for all your care... Doris emoticon

I just want to mention that I try to go to new members' pages but find when I try to click onto their image here, it doesn't seem to work for me. I wonder if others find that problem too.

Mickey - I too am waiting for stuff to come in so I can get my income tax done.

Dot - Believe me, you are doing well. I agree, wee can't compare ourselves to others here. Each one of us is different and putting up with "old" age in different ways.

Marlene - Do take it easy. Please don't push yourself unnecessarily. Sometimes we have to take time out to recuperate.

Now, did I miss anyone? Please forgive if I did.

Again, special prayers going out for Janny.

Helen

Here is one for you to try....Sounds like this recipe would fit into our life style these days..

3, 2, 1 CAKE
These individual little cakes are amazing
and ready to eat in one minute! They are perfect
for whenever you feel like a treat without all the fat
and calories that cake can have. Ingenius idea!

INGREDIENTS:
1 box Angel Food Cake Mix
1 box Cake Mix - Any Flavor
2 Tbsp Water
Makes 1 serving.

DIRECTIONS:
In a ziploc bag, combine the two cake mixes together
and mix well. For each individual cake serving, take
out 3 Tablespoons of the cake mix combination and
mix itwith 2 Tablespoons of water in a small microwave-safe container. Microwave on high for 1 minute, and you have your own instant individual little cake!

KEEP remaining cake mixture stored in the ziploc bag
and use whenever you feel like a treat! You can top
each cake with a dollop of fat free whipped topping
and/or some fresh fruit.

Helpful Tips:
This recipe is called
3, 2, 1 Cake because all you need
to remember is:
"3 tablespoons mix,
2 tablespoons water,
1 minute in the microwave!"
TRY various flavors of cake mix like carrot, red velvet, pineapple, lemon, orange, etc. Just remember that one of the mixes has to be the angel food mix; the other is your choice. The flavor possibilities are endless!

NOTES:
The best thing is, you open both cake mixes into a gallon
storage bag, (one that 'zip locks' or 'self-seals') or a
container that seals tightly, shake the two cake mixes together blend and then make the recipe. Storage of mix is simple, put it on a shelf. No need to refrigerate, since the mix is dry. Always remember, that one of the cake mixes MUST be Angel Food. The other can be any flavor.

The Angel Food cake mix has eggs whites in it. So, anyone who may be allergic to egg whites,
should not consume this recipe.

Smiles, Betty :)

Good Morning Helen and everyone. First let me compliment you Helen on your posts...on the first one you got far more accomplished than I ever can...just changing the bed is enought to make me rest. Then your currant post includes everyone beautifully and I thank you.

Mary Lou like your idea of the one word to discribe the team. Your word " Caring " covers it well. Doris has given us "Loving" and Helen "Complimentary" Dot's word is " Encouraging". Keep those words coming.

Elsie so sorry that Valerie has Rheumatoid Arthritis, know that is so painful. Hope you both are well today and can get the Groceries.

Doris can only hope and pray that Janny has improved and you get a good report from your GD.

Naz we miss you do hurry back to us...hope all is well with your eyes.

Leona, dump cake? Sounds like something I might make to feed a large crowd...to many calories for me. What size pan do you use, will it fit in a bunt cake pan. What temp do you bake it on.

Frances, hope you are enjoying your NY family. Miss your posts!

Lee hope Brian is able to get the help he needs...thinking and praying for you and your family.
Rain is not in the forecast here today...sun and ho

Many of you have mentioned how busy our members are...feel I should mention that many of our members are in their 70's and are still very actively able to walk, exercise, do their house work. Now I am 85, find it a little harder to accomplish so much. I am slower but still do get it done. Remember to move your body...sitting in a chair for long periods of time is not good...so put some music on and move those feet...you can even do that sitting down. I do find I get up with aches and pains not pleasant but movement helps and the body does get going.

All the very best to everyone of you, have a great day,
Dot

Oh how I love tulips. I hope I have some bloom this year. We finally got some rain a couple nights ago so maybe things will bloom before long. My forsythia bush is already trying to bloom and we could have a hard freeze yet. This is just not February weather.
It is another sunny day today. Not real warm yet but it is getting there. I don't feel the best this morning. I slept at least 8 hours last night but I am still tired. I don't feel real bad but just don't feel good.

First, let me thank LEE - I guess I did do quite a bit yesterday. I keep comparing myself to what I used to be able to do and come up short.

Camey - people who abuse animals here have to pay a hefty fine.

Doris - Praying you get good news this afternoon re your daughter's condition.

Mary Lou - Another C word - complimentary. I love compliments! Nothing gives one such a quick boost of positivity.

Nas - if you are able to read this - hope all is going well with your eyes. Looking forward to seeing you back here again soon.

Maureen - You are enjoying our warm spell now. Hope it lasts for you.

Betty - Isn't that wonderful that they can match the tile. Lucky you!

Rosie - I use a cane occasionally - especially when I have to walk on uneven ground like my lawns and if I should fall, no one to see me!

Sharon - Two loads of laundry are my limit - which I will do today. It's the stairs that kill me!

Leona - Can never understand religious or racial fanaticism! How's the genealogy going?

Frances - You are usually here so early. What's up???

Must run now - sun is almost up and need to start moving around here.

Doris praying for good news.

My hair is still brown at 83. I will be 8 in May. Only a little white near ears. My hair dresser says I will not go white now, if I haven't. My dad turned white at 70. My mom died at 56 with kidney cancer so her hair was still brown. My bro hair was gray with brown. My dad was 93 when he went, my bro 86, my mom 56, so wonder what age it will be for me.

I guess age is what you feel, some have pains, others nothing. Depends on what free line you stand in. You need to read the sign before you step in the line. LOL

Seems the boards are all slow these days.

Mickey never heard of dried cod.

Did anyone see the man with the tractor dragging the poor shepherd on a lease? It is not only on the u tube but also on the news. A neighbor filmed it and called the police. They got the man and too his dog away. It was so sad to see. The dog was choking being dragged. I can't stand people who mistreat animals. Too bad the dog didn't attack him. I hope they put him in jail. When the neighbor spoke to him he said it was his dog, in other words butt out.

Well, a nice week here and I have grocery shopping today.

Taken it easy as did a lot yesterday.

Hello,
As you see, I changed my photo here as we all will welcome springtime and all the hope it brings to us..

I will hear nothing about my daughter until this afternoon as Adrienne will call then. I plan to give her my cell phone number (I just own a flip top cell ) so that she can call me no matter where I am. She calls now on my land line.

I am attending my Elon lecture in a little while. I thought I might not go, but I feel worse alone here, just too much thinking! I do have to keep the phone off at the lecture but tomorrow I am at home until I attend the Praying Needles at church in the afternoon.

Lots of information that you don't need but I am just rambling on..I must leave here at 9:30 and so will not type here very long.
I spent all evening yesterday crocheting the 'Heck' out of my prayer shawl for church. I keep counting the stitch pattern and hope I am on track..It is one that seems to gain, if you know what I mean and yet the count remains true...I think I am working more ' loosely' now if that makes any sense...Oh'well.....

I thank you all for your prayers and the goodies that I have received. It is comforting to know others are praying for my dear daughter...I will let you all know what my grand daughter tells me later today.

Love and good wishes to all and thank you again...Doris

P.S. My one word is Loving....

Hello all,

Did you see the care package a mother sent to her college son? It is on FOX now. She sent him a box full of trash he was supposed to take out. One of the best laughs this week. emoticon

For those who like to make a simple and quick bake, try a dump cake. I have been making these for years. Just put 2 cans of a pie filling and cover it with a white cake mix and then add slices of butter (cold) on top. Bake about 45 minutes to an hour. I made one with apple pie mix yesterday.. emoticon

As soon as it gets light, I will see how foggy it is so I can plan what time I will go into Minneapolis. I need to stop at Walmart and get my thyroid medicine on the way home. My road is getting slippery as the ground is really wet.

Rosie- I use a cane when I get my mail especially now that the parking area is a mess of water and some frozen areas.
Good for you and walking. emoticon

Mickey- I will take the chain to my daughter today and see if it is long enough. Yes, I also use markers and they do help. emoticon

Sad to say that the Jewish center in St. Paul was threatened yesterday. Today, I just saw on FOX that a Jesus statue at an Indianapolis church was beheaded. emoticon

Does anyone do plastic canvas work? I would like to start this work again.

Need to get busy.
Take care, Leona emoticon

Yesterday I did two loads of laundry and that was about it. I just didn't have any energy. Today will be better. It will be nice today and then we will get a cool down and have more normal weather for this time of year. So sorry to hear about Janney being back in the hospital and sure am hoping you got some better news today.

I opened the gift shop at the hospital this morning then didn't do much after getting home.

We had a gloomy misty chilly day here in southwest Missouri. We were going to do some grocery shopping but Valerie's legs were very painful due to the cold damp temps. She has rheumatoid arthritis very bad and in almost all of her joints.

Take care.......Elsie

Good evening everyone - I just read all the posts and made a mistake of not keeping notes on them - so forgive me ladies - most of the time my mind just doesn't remember what I read especially later in the evening. Not been feeling good lately and that also is a reason. It was really nice here today, but I didn't get out to enjoy it - instead - I took a nap. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Hugs to all,
Flo

I wasn't going to say anything but since it seems to be the subject, all I can say is I must be a stump - it took me all day to grocery shop, change my bed (took awhile to find my bed linen that I wanted to use - it was still in a laundry basket by my bed of all places and I NEVER EVEN LOOKED THERE! Started cleaning and dusting off some of my make-up jars, etc. and cleaned out some soap containers, turned on the dishwasher, played solitaire in front of the TV, watched a couple of shows and then the phone rang and talked on the phone for a good hour - and here I am.
And YOU did WHAT???? And the ones who are so active here all seem to have serious disabilities of sorts, or health issues. What the heck is wrong with me?

Hi everyone-nice day today. Didn't do much except to go into work.

Rosie-nice job with the steps. Where do you most of your walking?

Leona-when I have a long chain to crochet, I always use markers. Usually every 10 stitches

Mel-nice to be able to dig in the dirt-we are still snow covered even though it was pretty warm this weekend.

Camey-when I use to make dried cod, once it was ready, we served it as a salad with olive oil, parsley, garlic, and a little lemon juice, served room temp.

Lee-glad to hear you enjoyed your 'veg' day.

Flo-good to see you again.

Doris-prayers continue for you and Jenny.

Hello all,

Doris- emoticon and emoticon .

Doing some more embroidery work on the pillowcases, worked on genealogy, cleaned out some paperwork, did some baking, went through loads of emails and walked on the treadmill.

It rained today so I did not go into Minneapolis. When it rains or snows, even a little, the traffic is terrible.

My chore tonight is to begin an afghan; I have to count about 175 chains across so my mind needs to be quiet and no TV. The first couple of rows are the hardest. My daughter chose her yarn and pattern for it and said she will wait until Christmas to get it.

Mel, I am taking after yu today with the working. After the beds, washing sheets, cooking chicken, feeding Hailey, washing dishes, putting down carpet cleaner as DH did the rugs, washing the kitchen and bathroom floors, doing my bike, reading, I came back to see if any mail and it is 3:24 and I am bored, and tired. LOL

Bit chilly with wind so not going for a walk. Tomorrow need to get grocery done and maybe Wed cut hair. Not sure when the kids want to do lunch, if they are free.

Doris, your family continue to be in my prayers. Pray you hear some good news today about
Janny.

I just finished vacuuming the floors. Also baked a peach and cream pie for tomorrow night.
Rest awhile and then will steam clean the tile floor.
Then will go dig a couple holes in my back yard. I want to plant a couple new plants and thought this would be the time to dig the holes as we had lots of rain the past two days.
I need to get two very large plants and maybe the rabbits will not eat them.

Betty, interesting you mentioned family reunions. At the last genealogy club meeting, they ask people to sign up and speak at the meetings for a bout 5 minutes on a genealogy subject.
I signed up for Oct and then afterwards, I regretted it as I did not know what I would talk about. This morning I woke up thinking about it and decided to talk about my family reunions.
We did some fun things and I think it might help others who might be planning one.

Sharon, enjoy the rain and hope you needed it. I know we always welcome rain in AZ.

Marlene, sounds like you also did nothing yesterday. We need a few days like that in our life.

Maureen, maybe we should start the Lazy DO Nothing Sunday Club. It looks like we had several members already.

Welcome back Flo. Hope you can join us more often.

Rest time is over, time to clean the tile.

Mel, the only cold fish I like is the one in the can, like salmon, tuna, but not fish I cook in the oven. Do you make a salad with it?

Doris so sorry about your sickness problems. We have to go through a lot in this life, but they say God only gives us as much as we can handle.

I have just finished the beds, changing mattress, washing sheets, now in dryer, and kitchen and bathroom floors, wing and a prayer, now have to feed Hailey and start the chicken.
Dh wanted me to go see the kids but I told him Alexis was here Sat and we are going to lunch with both this week and I have stuff to do, so he went. I have to make sure the lunch is ready when he comes back because I told him a certain time and he will say he could have stayed longer. So I better get started while sheets are in dryer.

Thanks all for your prayers for my Janny.

I will not write much today as too upset and I have no other news. I will just be waiting to hear from Adrienne tomorrow.

Thanks Frances for the trophy...I have to admit that I skipped doing the hair last night as I just fell into bed and tried to sleep...I have a clear day today and will try to get some work done in this office to make the day go by .

All of you are so sweet and thank you for your prayers... Doris.

a C Pap or more likely a Bi pap to help her breathing. Of course she is in my prayer as are you for I know how stressful it is.

Glad to hear you will be chauffeured Frances. and hope the cousins have fun together in VA.

I am unable to use the link to post this or copy and paste. It has ways to germinate seeds and they are really great. Frances- Great for your kids. I am going to try some of them.
Maybe you can find it by going into homesteading site.
Let me know if you do it. Cute ideas.

Good Morning everyone,

We are in for a warmer week and I will enjoy it...The birds are singing in the morning and the bulbs are coming up..so here comes spring!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Doris: It is so hard to have someone you love sick and so far away...Janny is in my prayers and I hope you hear good news soon.

Frances: How grand to get a ride with your family...that will be fun!!

I used Ancestors a few years ago and found a lot of interesting info about my family and friends..but have not done much more. It helped me when I was working on our family reunion.

Need to get up to Home Depot and get a few things...

It's President's Day, so senior center is closed and no tap class...

Wishing you all lots of smiles today...Betty :)

Doris, so sorry to hear about Janny. Hope she is gets better quickly and is home soon.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and it was 56 degrees. I didn't do much of anything except I did get my taxes ready to go over to the taxman. Will call my son this morning and see if he can get them over there. I did some reading and watched some HallMark movies. Nice to relax. This morning it is still 52 degrees and it is raining. We had some thunder and lightning and it is only February. I love it. Hope you all have a good day.

Just catching up as usual. Hope everyone in have a quiet peaceful day. Doris sorry Janny is back in ICU and so ill. Have her on my prayer list as well as the rest of your family.
Frances enjoy the holiday with company coming and taking you with them later instead of having to go by yourself. The youngsters will enjoy having others to play with..
Made it to church this morning and then had a very lazy day at home. Warm and sunny but not as warm as yesterday. Getting sleepy so will say Good Night and God Bless Sweet Dreams. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Frances, I might hit you up on getting genealogy help for my mothers side, I don't have much luck there.,familysearch.org is where I went to through Mormons, my cousin told me that he is Latter Day Saints and his mom did a lot of genealogy, as he said they actually push it.

My taxes I did a week ago and one of mine was back in just a few days, but, my bank is not posting it to my account until, Tuesday, emoticon

Good Evening everyone - I haven't been around for quite awhile - just jump in every now and then, but thought I'd join in and try to see if I could see how everyone is doing. It will take me awhile to get to know you all again as there are some new names. I guess I should upgrade my spark page. I've noticed that a few of you are into looking for ancestors - I was also doing that for quite some time, but it seems I hit a brick wall and sorta stopped. Maybe I should give it another try - I did find some distant cousins which was exciting but not what I was looking for.
So anyway - Hi to everyone and will try and come back more often.
Hugs, Flo

Leona, I have a world-wide membership on ancestry. Let me know if there's anything I can look up for you. I love doing the research and am always happy to help. Have you checked familysearch.org for your father's birth record? They are constantly adding new images so it might be worth looking. And, if you (or anyone else) would like me to do some research for you, you can send the details to me privately, either through Sparkmail or to travelingmamma@yahoo.com

Doris, emoticon this is the International Award for Longest, Most Consistent, Pin-Curler! Congratulations!!! LOL. So sorry about Janny - sending hugs to you and to her.

Mickey, my grands are great travelers - they are often on long road-trips to soccer tournaments, etc, so this trip will be lots of fun.

Mel, it seems very strange you haven't made any connections with the DNA tests. Have you worked your tree outward as well as vertically? I've found that it makes a lot of difference because all of your great-grandparents' children's children's children are carrying some of the same DNA you carry. Their surnames, however, have followed a very different progression. If you don't know who they are, just knowing they are "cousins" doesn't help.

It's amazing how many doctors and potential doctors we have just in this little group. I have a nephew who specialized in geriatrics and is now head of services in a hospital. Also, one niece was a psychiatrist for many years before going back to get a divinity degree and becoming a minister.

Now I'm going to work on my own genealogy for a little while. Have a pleasant evening!

Hi everyone-it was a nice day here. Hopefully it will last for a few more days. Worked on getting all my tax info together for my son do the taxes. But I can't finish them because I still don't have two 1099 forms. They are suppose to be mailed by the 19th of the month-every year there are one or two we get late.

Rosie-my mom's hair fell out after she got the flu as a child; it grew back curly. Mine is as straight as a poker.

Doris-so sorry to hear about Janny. Prayers for you and for her.

Mel-you have two ambitious grandkids. Both professions take a lot of hard work and dedication. Just saw this-don't know who wrote it. Dream+dedication=Success.

Betty-hope they can match your tiles.

Frances-nice to drive back home with people you like. Lots less stress! My mom had one white streak right in front, which is what I now have and my DD told me that's where her gray is coming in.

Take care.

So sorry Doris to hear that your Jjanny is back in the hospital. Janny is on my prayer list and will pray for her many times throughout the following days. Hope you get the good news she is well soon. It is such a concern for you, my prayers are with you and all the family.

Hope by Tuesday when Adrenne calls you the news will be good and Janny will be on the way to being totally healed.

God Bless you,
Dot

Afternoon already

I read the posts and I will say that my hair has never turned white, gray or any other except the medium brown that I have always had. I guess at 88, nearly 89, it will not change. I never had curly hair and I have set my hair in pin curls every night of my life since I was 14. That might be a record, but then no prize so who cares..

I had some difficult news an hour ago. My grand daughter, Adrienne, telephoned from Wisconsin for she flew there on Friday. My daughter, Janny was admitted to a hospital in another town near her home into ICU as her pneumonia has become even more acute and she was having serious problems breathing. Here in this hospital they have a special Pulmonary unit and she was on a ventilator for a time and now has a mask, so tells Adrienne.
She is on antibiotics again and is naturally upset that she is back in a hospital.
On her last call to me I urged her to get to her doctor as she seemed not to be improving at all at home. This all began before Christmas and she has been so tired all of the time.
The call shook me and I do not know anything else to do but say prayers...I did call her sister, Laura and her brother Carlos and informed them. Adrienne promised to call again on Tuesday to tell me of her mother's condition.. My poor child has gone through life with so much pain...I want to do something but cannot...I love her so..

I did get to church today before all this knowledge, I light a candle for each child and for my dear departed husband and say prayers with all of my soul...Janny was always my fun loving, little girl and jolly as a child can be...

Well I do not feel like writing more today...I will sign off

Love to all and enjoy our respite from the very cold weather. Doris emoticon

This is my day for relaxing. So will watch the church service on line and the do nothing slowly.
I have a good start as I slept in until 10. Stayed up late last night binge watching netflix. Will finish watching the series today.

Camey, I like cold fish. When I don't finish my fish meal in a restaurant, I usually bring it home and eat it cold the next day.

Betty, I will keep my fingers crossed for you also.

I have two grandchildren who just finished college as pre med students. They are twins and they went to different universities. One went with a full ride scholarship and the other put himself through. The one with the full ride has been accepted into a PA school and will start in June. The other is working as a EMT in an emergency room and will soon start to apply for medical school. He wants to be a Emergency Dr.

Leona, I belong to Ancestry.com. I did the DNA and so far I have not found anything I did not know. Sometimes, I think you can find just as much info on Family Search.
I have Smith in my family and a Jones in my DH's family. That makes for interesting searches.
Yes, the spelling of a name can really make some interesting records.

Frances, that sounds like a winner with your traveling plans. Now you can ride and enjoy the country side. I know I am a good driver (no tickets ever), but I am always concerned about the other drivers out there.

Will sign off as I am getting a late start for doing nothings slowly.
Have a Wonderful day and remember who gave it to you.

I have finished the washing and now trying to do mail then may read. Time is dragging as I am finding too much time on my hands today. Other days the time just flies.

Seems the weekend comes so fast and I find myself back in church again. The end of the month I had a mass said for my bro and wife and my parents. I have dh's in Nov. So we will go to that.

Our church is having a pancake dinner. I am not going as I hate cold pancakes. I went to a breakfast there once and they were cold. Then in March they are having a fish fry and again I know with all the people in line and fish in those heating pans it will not be hot. Hate cold fish.
'
The kids have this week off so panning of getting together with the two of them for lunch.
Don't get to see the other much as he can not drive yet, only l5. We do see him when we go there but then he is doing homework. Usually, in the summer he wants to come over for the day and do work for me. He loves money. LOL

Leona, when I started taken allergy pills I started getting plops, of course the doc said that didn't happen because of the pill. But, when I first went to the doc and was not taking an allergy pills none showed up for all the time I went. Then when I took the pill and went to see him I had one in each nose. He put me on steroids and I started to bleed in the nose. He told me I was blowing too hard. Of course, that was not the truth. I was blowing like I always did and had no problem before. Finally, after I ended up taking a 200 dollar pill, which was 500 for the plop to shrink, the nose continued to bleed. Finally, he said I can not take steroids but he did not say I was right. So that is another reason I don't like to take stuff. I took statins once and got allergic to them so I didn't take anymore. My other doc I had before told me statins cause diabetics in some people and he would not put me on them. Just change my diet. When I went for a blood test I asked the nurse what he had said and she told me her husband got diabetics from statins. But, I know if your life depends on it, even with allergies you have to take them and the doc has to deal with the allergies some other way.
I have to make sure they know of my allergies when I get operated on.

How long did your granddaughter have to go to school before pre med? As for the few openings I am surprised. My granddaughter got a l44,000 offer for 4 years if she attended a New York college, I don't know the name. Another college offered her money taken off her bill too, but she wants to go to Univ of Amherst. Said they have a good pre med there. She is writing for scholarship's now.
