Mattie so sorry your DH is having problems breathing. I know that must worry you when you can see he needs the help the oxygen would give him. You vent whenever you feel the need..we are here for you.

Glad you enjoyed the exercise tips I posted today and you had a good idea to save them for future newbies. Will do that.

Thanks Lee glad you are ready for the storm...my freezer is also full...hope it falls apart before it gets to Florida.

Hugs and Blessings,
Dot

Hello all:

Yes I was busy today. Besides wash I got to stores early. Not to stock up (I have food in freezer that needs to be eaten) But to beat the crowds. I heard they were tremendous later on.
Unfortunately I have to pick up a script tomorrow or would be done. I feel prepared, with hopes that Erika fizzles. I did take advantage of good BOGOs.

Just rain across the street to take some dinner to Sonny. She had bladder tumors removed Wednesday. Kept it light and didn't stay long.

Yes Mickey, I really have enjoyed the Kindle Paperwhite. You can read it in dark or sunlight.
Only problem is I don't like to read "pocketbooks" now. Can't adjust the print on paper. emoticon

Leona, Barbara Karnes also wrote "Gone From My Sight". I don't believe she has a corner on the market of what I am doing though. Mine is mostly about Caregiver experiences rather than grieving.
I agree that we can disagree without being disagreeable. So many now try to push their
thoughts on you and can get downright ugly about that. It used to be that government would get along to help those they represent. I miss that and hope it comes back for the sake of those we leave behind someday.

Dot, thank you for sending on the nice writing of Sarai. I can tell your are a nurturer Sarai.
Stick with us and you'll get tips like Dot just passed on today. Thanks Dot.

And thanks for explaining the tracking Vahina. I do wear a pedometer. That helps.

Did take a power nap this aft. and with that I'll go start some supper.

Hugs all,
Lee

MJ next time you don't get those clothes out of the dryer. Wet down a towel and throw it in with the wrinkled clothes and turn the dryer on for 10 minutes. They won't need ironing. They might need a few more minutes of dry time. I dislike ironing too and never do it. Use my hands to press and smooth.

Have a good evening.

Forgot to ask: For those of you that have grandbabies, I am crocheting a baby dress. We have not had any babies in the family in quite some time. I am doing the dress just in case one of the nieces or nephews decide to start a family and have a little girl. The dress is six to nine months and is thirteen inches long. It looks so small to me. Should I add another row or two to make it longer? Or have I just forgotten how tiny a new baby is? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thank you for the tips for exercising. I certainly can incorporate those into cleaning. I had looked up "ironing" on the tracker but it didn't recognize the activity. I had just spent several hours getting caught up and was bummed I couldn't get credit for it. Of course, if I hadn't let the clothes sit in the dryer so long there would have been no need for ironing. Bad Me!!!! I hate doing laundry!

Mary Jane...you asked if house chores were counted as exercise...the answer is yes! They even have a "Find 10" Challenge...Clean to get Lean...I took these notes for all of us that clean our homes. Scroll down on your SP page today and you will find a group of 21 day challenges. I made notes on one of them...hope it helps.

Lunge. When you vacuum, perform some walking lunges. Remember to keep your knees directly above your ankles, your back straight and your abs engaged. You will know this is working by feeling it in your thighs and glut's.

Go big. Instead of making small circles when scrubbing the shower or cleaning windows, make long, sweeping movements. For example, when you are cleaning the shower door, take long swipes from top to bottom, squatting (not bending!) to reach the lower spots. This will give you a hearty shoulder workout and engage your entire lower body.

Clean to the beat! Turn on the radio or your iPod while you clean. Feel the beat and dance around a bit. Make sure to use some fast music so you'll be encouraged to pick up your speed and break a sweat.

Step it up. Use a stepladder or step stool when you need to reach high areas. You can simulate your own step aerobics class this way! ( I do not climb on any step stools or ladders, fear of falling and breaking a hip at my age keeps me safe.) So please ignore this one. Thanks.

Twist and shout. When you are loading or unloading your dishwasher or dryer, add a twist-and-reach move. This movement will serve to strengthen your core and target that "love handle" area around the obliques.

Take a swing. Instead of vacuuming your rugs, take them outside, hang them up, pick up your broom and swing away to beat out dust and dirt. This will involve more muscles than vacuuming alone and help you get some fresh air.

Take the stairs. Instead of making one trip up and down, make multiple trips with the clean or dirty clothes. Remember, the goal here to make more work for yourself, not less.

Not everyone is convinced that housework will do much to help you shape up; however, approaching cleaning and chores this way will certainly burn more calories and help improve mobility. The American Heart Association does count housework as moderate exercise. Again, it isnít going to get you prepared for a marathon, triathlon, or climbing Mt. Everest, every little bit adds up!

Vahina thank you for showing us how to track the fitness activities.

Even at our age we can include some of these exercises. I have found several 10 minute walks or exercises that work for me on Spark People and have them on my bookmarks and do them in front of my desk top.

Hope this will help all of you today to exercise more.

Hugs and Blessings all,
Dot

Hello all,

Sairah- That was a nice letter you sent. Thank you for taking care of our children teachers are special. emoticon

Dot- Thank you for posting. emoticon

I see your saying from Winston Churchill. We were at his gravesite years ago and it was so unkempt we were surprised. When I checked to see the town I found this link and glad I did.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Mar
ti
n%27s_Church,_Bladon

Mary Jane- I count housework, etc as some exercise. It is better that sitting all day. Even a little at a time counts for me.

MSK- used to make jelly (grape also) and pickles. I also made applesauce with all the apples we have in Minnesota. I froze the packages and my kids would only eat mine and not from the store.

Today, I made more oatmeal cookies and also made the topping for my rhubarb; I keep it in the refrigerator. I try to pull out the flour, etc as little as possible.

Vahina- Thanks for the info. M.J, I am also still learning. emoticon

Marlene- I so appreciate the farmers and ranchers. emoticon emoticon When doing my husband's genealogy, I found his grandparents were farmers.Tax a cow because it emits gas?? emoticon

I was thinking of yesterday and how all of us have problems but some much worse than I do. As I was checking out at Goodwill, a lady hit my cart and I looked up and she said "hello" to me and I said "hello". She asked " how was I" and I said "good". Her caretaker behind her said to move on and she said " we are visiting because she did not come to see me" I said I would come later. She asked it she could give me a hug and I said " yes" and she gave me a strong and long hug. This sweet lady was in her 70s and had a mental condition. The caregiver emoticon was so patient with her. I told her I would see her soon hoping she would forget. The lady was happy though. I just wanted to share because she has been on my mind.

Take care,
Leona emoticon

MJ, you can track any activity. Go to "my fitness" under my trackers. There are several choices. Start with the search area, you fill see any number of daily chores that are listed. Click on one and just fill in the blanks. If you don't see what you did, just pick one that is similar. It will give you calories burned and a little other information

MJ I use sure jell with less sugar and what I make is for my granddaughter any way. I think it has 3 cups of sugar compared to double that for regular sure jell easy to make and because of less sugar every one likes it . I could use splenda but chose not to may use than when I make more
I have got to round up my precious grandson he did not tell me if he would be back for dinner but we shall see

Marlene.......my goodness, you and your husband were two very busy people with 2000 acres to farm plus all that cattle. What would our country (and the world) do if we didn't have farmers like you? I know it would have had its trials with weather, insects, machinery breakdowns etc plus all the government interference. I for one am grateful for what the farmer does.

Msk.......I hope your grape jelly turns out well. Years ago, I made it with Welch's grape juice but that certainly wouldn't be acceptable with all that sugar now. Sure tasted good though.

Camey....once in a while it's cookies or else!!!! I fell into some fried chicken a few days ago. Trying hard to make amends now though.

Sarabi.....Each journey starts with the first step. How nice you were a school principal. We have a little in common as I was an elementary teacher in past years. I am retired too but not from teaching. I left teaching and entered office work as an administrative assistant.

Wish someone in the group could keep me on the straight and narrow with exercise. I have good intentions but don't always get to actually doing some. Can I count house cleaning, cooking, laundry...all of the everyday things that are more or less done automatically?

Stay safe from any storms for those of you in the south.

Don't think the storm is coming my way but one still has to take precautions. I had just gone to the grocery store so had food already. did not have water so went to get it. The water ilse was packed with customers. That is one thing you have to get quickly otherwise it is all gone. It has been ten years since we have had a hurricane...but sine 1956 I have prepared for a good many of them. We have been blessed - ten years ago had one of these storms cause me some damage but it was minor and an easy fix.

Lee know you will be preparing for the storm will not know until Saturday which way it will be going and what category. It will be. Do hope it will be a tropical storm by the time it reaches south Florida.

Hugs and blessings, will be praying.

I did step 1 on the grape jelly read the directions and now will wait a while to go to step 2 .
That means I have not done one thing but get the juice out , I am using the less sugar recipe and it is different so will think about it for a while before I do another step .
Now I will finish getting the house in a little better order too and Ethan is here so wont get too much done .
Vicki said they were going to a football game tonight and we have a ton of clouds blowing up from storm I guess , Lee and Dot are either of you in the path>???????????? Looks like all of Fla. will get rain and this part of Ga. too

Morning everyone, I had the following message on my Spark Page and thought I would share it with you. Hugs and Blessings, Dot

Thank you dear lady for the warm welcome to the team.

I am a newbie to Spark. An 80 year old, from India. I live in a city called Lucknow, very close to Delhi. Live with my husband of 63 years. A mom of 6, grandma of 19 and great-grandma to 40 on last count.

I weigh 218lbs and for some one who is just 5 ft tall, it is obese. I have mobility issues and use a cane to move around to keep me up and doing my house work. I am a retired school principal. Retired in 2000.

Since then spend time babysitting my great-grands.

Well so much for now, hope to get to know you well and learn from you

Love
Sairah

Mary Jane, I am not sure how many acres I have for crop which is wheat. When my DH was alive we farmed over 2000 acres but it was not all our land we just farmed it for the landlords on a percent. We have a lot of acres that we took out and put into CRP but now it is just grassland as CRP was getting too demanding on what we could do with our land and a penalty if we did not do it right. I have my land leased to a farmer on a percent of the crop basis and he takes care of everything like going to the insurance office, and to the government offices. Lots of red tape being a farmer. The price of wheat is real low and all the upkeep comes from profit if any and right now probably not much. We also had lots of cattle but sold them off in 2001.

I am working on a few things yet on the house, I left my bathroom till last. I will shake the rugs and do the floor but as far as the rest may have to wait until in the morning, like taking my things I use daily off the counter and putting them inside the cabinet. I also have the deck that needs swept and the glass top patio furniture needs cleaned. It was so dirty yesterday with the high gusts of wind that was not something that needed done yesterday. Patio window on the sliding door needs shined and a few other things. Other than that I am about done. I baked a cake for my niece's birthday. She will be here tomorrow so we will have it at lunch. It is her favorite an applesauce cake with brown sugar frosting that was her grandma's recipe(my Mother in law).

Now to get back to work, Marlene

Mel, congratulations on losing those points. I had 5 cookies with my coffee yesterday and gained .2, but it was worth it. Now, tomorrow, the kids party with fancy Italian pastry, my downfall and my doc apt. the 9th so have to watch it. I am making the conoli with Ricotta to take over. I got the little one two outfits. Boy clothes are expensive for kids.

Took Alexis out yesterday for supper at 99. She is doing tryouts for Volley Ball for school and they are making them run. I never had to run when I played in school. She hopes to make the team. She has been so busy with school work and so has the boy. I don't understand why teachers give assignments on summer vacation. Then she has 8 hours in church Sunday before she makes confirmation in Nov. So now they go back the 8th and they will be so busy with school I will get to see them for l0 min when I go up there.

Happy birthday Maureen and Frances. They seem to come each year and make us older.

The man next door did not come home so must be with his son because he can not cook. I haven't heard if they got all the colon cancer from his wife yet. I will call hospital and see how long she will be in there before I go. I don't want to go too early. She has a big family and I sometime wonder if I might wait till she is home.

Well, exercise done and now got to go make out those nasty bills that keep coming in.

My son's friend, the plumber, fixed the dryer and used it yesterday, problem he tightened the switch and I can not turn it off like I used to, in case I have to. Dh put d40 on and he is going to try and loosen it. Scares me because when the gas leak started I could turn it off and not worry. Is there every anything in life not to get you upset?

I would think by now I would hear from all those publishers, but nothing yet. Sometimes, they do not even bother to write back, and sometimes you get a nice one who will either send you a form letter or a quick note. Haven't been doing much writing lately. Just been too busy with other stuff and at night tired.

Tips for Writing welcomes new members. We have changed our logo so people will know we are not only a writing board, but a weight loss one too.

Good Morning

Nora..glad you are feeling better. No fun being under the weather. My sister-in-law will be visiting your country for 17 days in October and is soooooo excited about her visit. She loves the koala and be watchful or she may try to smuggle one back with her.

Betty....sounds like a nice time with your curves friends. Never been to Curves but know it is a successful program. Table is very nice. Are you painting the roses free-hand? Would be very difficult to do that.

Leona.....I am tired of the political nonsense too. I wish there was a solution to all of that. As far as the "Z" gender determination, it is beyond comprehension.

Marlene......enjoy your celebration. I was wondering how many acres you farmed and what crops? I have friends in central Ohio where the land is table top flat who farm 400 acres. Looks like miles and miles of corn when I look across their fields.

Msk....wish I had your diligence for walking. Send some my way.

Sarabi.....I hope all is going well for you.

duh, why didn't I think of using 2 tabs for posting. Sometimes my brain is just out to lunch. Thanks for suggesting it! Works great. I hope...probably still have some goof-ups.

I wish everyone a good day....or evening.....wherever you may be.

I pad still is not working right. I wonder to they get old and give up.

Happy birthday ladies enjoy ur day.

Welcome new member.

I am drinking a new tea for me this morning. It's good earth sweet and spicy. Is it good and smells so good too. I found it at the health food store.

52 here this am. A little chilly. Bright sun now it will warm up fast.

My little garden is coming to an end. Feeling sad. Nothing u buy tastes as good as just going out and picking it. Cukes almost done but tomatoes are really doing good. Cooked some carrots yesterday. Omg. Soooo good.

The Nashville two r back. Guess they had quite a time. My DD met a vendor from her bank and he took them out to eat the whole time they were there. It cost them hardly nothing on this Mini vacation.

I need to vacuum it has been so dark and gloomy who feels like cleaning. So maybe I can get it ,done before DH nap.

Later. Barbara

Good Morning everyone,

I had a nice lunch with my Curves friends yesterday...We were 17 and it is so good that we all still make the effort to see one another.

Still struggling with painting the roses on this table top..hope to get it done today. I need to clean up all the paint supplied and get my house back in order...so the vacuum needs to come out along with the dust cloths etc. Busy day...

Mel: I have a banana that I will put in the freezer and try the ice cream. I long for the treat, but don't dare bring it in the house....although, I do want to get down to Dairy Farmers and have some of their peach ice cream while it is in season...Yum..

Dot: You are such a great welcoming committee for all of us. Thanks!1

Happy birthday to Frances and Maureen. May your day be happy and filled with love.

Marlene..You are the veteran here,,,I have been here 8 years. Wonder what Reba is doing....

Wishing you all a great day and take a little time to pray for peace in the world and the end to the terrible fires in the west.

Smiles, Betty :)

Hello all,

NAS- Thanks for the info on 2 tabs. I take notes but may try this.

The sun is now shining and it is quite warm out.
Amazing what a difference sunshine makes to the way one feels !!
Just heating up some lunch now, I find I am quite hungry, (for a change).

Marlene, we must have joined here at around the same time, I came on here 30 April, 2006.
There are not many of us originals left though.
Till next time,

100 goodie points on the start wheel, now I will have to get busy and spend them. I have so many points after being here 9 years that 100 will not even show up. Wow!! nine years.

I have been busy all day. I read until one this morning and then woke up at five. I got up and vacuumed the living room and have been going strong all day. I think the house looks pretty good. DD was here sitting up the island for Saturday, so I will have to eat at the cafe or out on the deck. She is using my flatware forks so I will have to either eat tomorrow with a spoon or go dig out the silverware that I used when I was taking food to the field. I have a lot of it, too. I am running down from short of sleep so I am closing down.

Hi everyone. A beautiful day here and no rain forecast for about 5 days.

Leona - the cartoon with the pengiuns and frozen computer made me chuckle - thanks.

Lee - do you like the paper white Kindle? I have the original Kindle and I do wonder if I should upgrade if it is dark, I have to use a book light.

Nora - sorry to hear you don't feel well. Hope things get better.

MJ - we have all lost a message at some time or another. It is very frustrating.

Take care.

Hello all,

SARABAI- emoticon Please join us in the message boards. You will get to know the names. We "talk" about almost anything so let us know what you do like hobbies. family and so forth.

Barbara- I clipped a coupon a long time ago that had 2 penguins sitting on the ice with a computer. One penguin says "it froze again". emoticon

Mel- I will try the banana ice cream. Sounds good and it would be healthy. emoticon
Best to you on the eyes.

Frances- emoticon emoticon

Maureen- emoticon emoticon

Lee- You are emoticon .

The booklet is My Friend, I Care, The Grief Experience by Barbara Karnes. I took each paragraph and wrote my feelings. I did not agree with all she said but it seemed to help me more for the loss of my husband than my father.

I picked one paragraph by opening a page.

"Healing the wound of grief is allowing ourselves to feel the pain, to recognize "I'm missing her," to cry, to experience the intensity of the moment and then to move on. We wipe our eyes, dust ourselves off and move forward into living the day. We know the pain will come again. It will be felt and experienced again. We will move forward again, and on and on."

She also had a DO and DON'T section that I have seem many times in articles.

I am going to finish a book review tomorrow; the five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom. It is fiction but an interesting read. emoticon

I was gone all day with my daughter. She leaves on Saturday for Disneyworld. She said if it rains it is OK.

My son who is also gone left his oatmeal cookies on his desk. I gave a piece of one to his Parrot and Reco ate the whole thing. I guess I also need to bake for a parrot. He loves buffalo wings too. emoticon

Minnesota State Fair opened today and they say looks like a record crowd. I will go later with some of my kids. emoticon

Sad in Minneapolis as a worker fell to his death while working on the new Vikings stadium. Not sure of all the details yet. A young man with family. emoticon

Take care.

Hi all:

Had to shut down off and on a lot today. Gulley washers with thunder that could move me off a chair.

So came by as he had to go get his meds and he checked the gas for my grill. Assured me I have plenty. I put some more books on Pam's Kindle. I had one before I got the paper white so I can keep in my name and load books to it. She had me load some free ones for Brian and a couple I had bought for here. Her son bought her a tablet. When they have enough $$ I will turn the kindle over to them. I don't need two . I told her about Tewut. She will be faithful to it I am sure and exciting for her to get gift cards. (Thanks Leona)

WELCOME to our newest member, SARABAI I do hope you will jump in and post here so we can luckily get to know you. MJ can tell you it is confusing at first, however, I've been here for quite awhile and still get messages and names entertwined.

MJ you are going quite well with it all.

Nora, I am sorry you are still having a rough time and hope you feel better soon.

Dot I see you are getting rains too and I fear neither of ours are due to ERIKA. If she has to hit her (Monday perhaps) I pray she stays a tropical storm. I would rather she turn tail and go out to see.

Maureen I know you come on early so allow me to wish you a emoticon emoticon HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow emoticon emoticon so you won't have to wait till evening. Hope it is a lovely one for a lovely human being.

FRANCES I don't think you are peeking in but if so emoticon emoticon tomorrow for you as well. emoticon emoticon Same wishes for a fantastic one dear lady.

With that said I am off to do my dishes.

Hugs all,
Lee

HELLO TO ALL

I missed yesterday...not intentionally. Started a post and was almost done and lost it. I was so frustrated that I didn't start it again.

So many interesting comments below and I know I will mess up on names and forget half of what I want to say. I wish the posts would remain so I could look through them as I do my post. I guess I am having many "senior" moments anymore.

I missed the birthday....so happy belated birthday to Vicky.

I think it was Camey that had an anniversary. Congrats for that.

Beautiful necklace, Mel. I'm sure your memories comfort you during this time. You and your DH had many years together. My father was killed in WWII when I was four months old. My mother was 18 and he was 20. How I wish they had had many years together. You were blessed with yours.

Someone was having problems with an Ipad....forgive me for not remembering who. I can relate....technology is wonderful.....when it works right. I am not a techie at all. Anyone that is skilled in the area amazes me. Like another world isn't it?

Doris: I wish your daughter well. I hope she recovers completely and can resume her normal life.

Welcome to our new lady from India! I hope you enjoy your visits with us as we all will enjoy having you join us.

I'm sure I have forgotten many things. Have a good rest of your day.

This morning, my left eye had a laser treatment. Hopefully I am good to go and will not have to have that done again. Now the drops start again for a week.

Sue has not been on here for awhile. I was wondering if her floaters went away?

Camey. I dropped a few ounces today. But, I am sure it came back as I got hungry for a grilled tomato cheese sandwich. I had one for lunch.
Good luck with your spiral downward.

Nas, yes it is a sad world out there. Sometimes I enjoy FB, as people posts some videos of people doing kind things for others. It is nice that there is some good things happening. They want to ban guns and then you see some one getting stabbed. Just crazy people and I don't know how you ban them.

Mattie, you always find something to keep your self busy.

Saraba, welcome to our group. Hope you join our chats. This is great group.

Nora, get some rest and hopefully you will be feeling a lot better soon.

Barbara, Sorry to hear you are having problems with the iPad. Wish I was there to help you with it.

Betty, hope the table got a nice coat of paint today.

Dot, Lee and others in FL. You are in my prayers that the storm will pass you by.

Maureen and Marlene, may your streak continue!!

Did I tell you about my banana Ice Cream. Maybe some of you have tried this, but I like it.
Slice a banana and put it in a container in the freezer for a couple hours.
Then put it in a food processor (I have a small one that chops and grinds) turn it on and the banana will turn into a creamy dessert. I sprinkle some cinnamon on it. You can top with strawberries or whatever. It is very good and hits the spot when looking for a frozen dessert on a hot day.

My son's friend, the plumber, came and fixed the cable from gas pipe to dryer so I am doing clothes today. He didn't want anything so we gave him l00 and forced him to take it. He is good that way but he can use the money. He has 3 kids.

My exercise is out of the way, but Hailey is barking to eat so got to go.

Lost .2 this morning and another .2 to go and back to l34.9. Hope to go down more because the kids party is this Sat.

Nora so happy to see you back from your trip and posting. We missed you! Sorry you are feeling poorly it sounds like the weather is not helping your down mood. I am feeling the same way, storms from the Gulf of Mexico have been coming my way since 7am it is dull, dreary, thunder and lightening and miserable. It is getting very black out there!

Good morning all.

Good Morning everyone,

I had good intentions yesterday, but didn't get very far with them...I wanted to accomplish so much but started the day late and never did catch up...I will try to do better today. I am meeting my Curves friends for lunch. I do want to get the paining on this little table done today too...that is what I didn't get to yesterday.

Mel: What a lovely necklace and memento you have gotten yourself. It means so much to have fond memories of those we loved.

Nora: Hope you are feeling better...sometimes, it is hard to recover from a trip...

I hate to hear the news these days...someone is always getting killed for no reason...We need to put in extra prayers for peace in this world.

Wishing you all a happy day...smiles, Betty :)

Well another lost day .... I am having a real battle with not sleeping, and now I have developed a dry annoying cough, and just to make matters worse now it has started to rain, it is all grey, gloomy and depressing out there. emoticon emoticon

Feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Mel I love your winged heart necklace. What a beautiful tribute to your 60th anniversary.

Leona was that book possibly "Gone from My Sight". I give it out as well in case someone forgets here in Hospice. I've not read it as I didn't want my booklet to come anywhere near being like it. I do know the poem in it however. And you guessed it. that is my target but more geared to problems caregivers confront and then after that what?

Dot are you getting any rain yet. We had light storms today but nothing to do with Erika.
Do hope it fizzles out.

Off I go again.
Hugs once more,
Lee

Thanks for the anniv wishes. Happy B Vickie. Mel that necklace is pretty.
Lee I use the Writer's Market too. Also search them on the internet to see what books they publish

One of my members in my board lost her youngest son to a bike accident and he was only married a few years, leaving a wife and l7 year old son. So sad.

Today, Landon is here. We made tips again and rice. He asked if he could make it one more time before going back to school the 8th. Next week I am busy all week with anniv, doc apts too and he is going with friend Fri and Mon his mom is home. So this is the last week I will be able to teach him as he comes home with a lot of homework.

Hoping to have a light dinner with Alexis Thurs. She is so busy with school work. Can't figure that out when they are vacation, but she says she has to read two books and do a l7 page report, then she has 8 hours of Sunday school before Confirmation.

Hello all,

Mel- That is so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. It is hard I know. emoticon

IRISH- Yes,both knees have been done and I am so glad my husband made me do it. emoticon The saying come from Woman's World Magazine I find at Walmart at the check-out area. Someone remarked they always have a diet on the front cover as well as a dessert. I do not get all the time but I do like the magazine. emoticon

Mattie Sue- emoticon to Vicki.
Your tablet reminded me of the time my granddaughter asked if I had some water and I pointed to the kitchen sink and said yes. It dawned on me later she wanted bottled water. I have well water and it is good. I keep the bottled for the car.

Barbara- How fun. emoticon

Lee- I have a booklet that the Odessa, Texas Hospice gave it to me after I lost my father. I found it and re-read it after I lost my husband; it helped.

Do you agree some commercials are really bad? I like the ones they use music emoticon and animals. emoticon

For those who missed it, some of us are talking about the site www.tellwut.com It is a site that you answer surveys and get points. It is a free site. As I have said, some surveys are pretty bad and some are good. I answer for the points. There is a comment area if one wishes to comment and sometimes I do but not always. I have belonged for a long time and have gotten gift cards for Home Depot., Starbucks (for my granddaughter), Walmart and also Target. More options are available such as Amazon. The first time, I ordered Home Depot after I got 4500 points because I was not sure of the site but I got the card right away and gave it to my son who shops there for his business.
emoticon I talked a long time.

Mary Jane- It does get frustration dealing with medical and government. emoticon

Doris- Good to hear from you. I have a close friend that had a kidney transplant many years ago and her two sons also. They are all doing fine. I will keep sending prayers your way. emoticon

emoticon Camey. Many more.

Marlene- emoticon Cleaning is work. Looks nice when it is finished. emoticon

What a tragedy again on the news about the newscasters. emoticon

The family of the race car driver who was killed gave his organs and a comment tweeted is "he saved 6 lives today". emoticon

Today, I went to Goodwill and got another bunch of books and lots for the grandkids. At 20 cents each, it is a big savings. emoticon
I also found 4 coffee cups that have Mickey and Minnie on them for my daughter. Saturday she will be 50 and on her way to Disneyworld for her birthday. Her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend will also go for a few days. My daughter is a Disney nut and always has been. emoticon

I also found a tin that has a Nutcracker on it and I will make Rice Krispies treats and send them to my college granddaughter in Texas. She was in the Nutcracker Ballet since she was in grade school and until she finished high school. emoticon I make the bars for her all the time and so it is a special treat from me.

I went to the library again to work on ancestry. Anyone else on this site for genealogy?

WOW!! A long one this time.

Take care.
Leona emoticon

Mel, what a beautiful piece of jewelry you purchased for yourself to celebrate the 60th Anniversary. Angel wings, bringing you peace and love. I am sure the love of your life will be very close to you today. God Bless you, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello all:

I really overslept this a.m. While I probably needed it, it leaves me feeling groggy. But nice as I had no big plans.

Happy Birthday to Vicki Mattie Sue.

MJ I can't figure out why the stock market is doing what it is so I just look once and hope what I have in it (not much) will go up and not down as it is currently doing. As Seniors, we certainly have been denied places to have our saving work for us. I fear for the younger generation.

Mickey I don't think I've ever told you how much I admire your work ethic. I do!

Marlene, Enjoy your Birthday celebration!! I seem to get my best cleaning done as well, when I expect people to come to my house. It is then I remember the ceiling fans etc.

Leona I have my first 1000 of my next group of points.

Barb I love the picture in my mind of you and your DH singing together. It is a sweet picture!!

Camey thanks. But when I say self publish I don't plan on using anyone. I will get a few booklets made up and put out feelers. I know my targets. So other than paying for a printer a friend of mine has used successfully, it would be profit minus expenses with no real middle man. If and when I get around to doing it. I haven't decided to let go of my control an send to a magazine? My bible for publishers is "Writer's Market".

I gained this a.m. so need to give myself a talking to and cut back again. I know where I overdid and that stops until a week from today when we have our first Wednesday of the month dinners start up again at church. wonderful food and fellowship. Sept. it is Italian.
and I won't hold back.lol

Have a wonderful day all.
Hugs,
Lee

Today is a hard day for me as I married my DH 60 years ago.
I did do something for myself. I bought a necklace with a diamond in it.

Barbara, that is good that your DH's mind is still sharp after all he has been through.

Marlene, the reason I like to have people over to play cards is the fact I have to clean my house. My house usually looks good, but, needs a deep cleaning ever so often.

Mattie, I wish my DD like to mow her lawn. I am always after her to cut it when I go to visit her.

MJ, yes it has been interesting few days. I am glad I got out of the market a few years ago.

Maureen, happy to see your got your glitch solved and back with us.

Mickey, your salad sound really good. I eat a lot of salads.

I don't know if my picture will show on here or not. But, at least I tried.

What a lazy life I have. It's been rainy and grey and so have I. I can spent the whole day and do nothing. Although I did manage to take the dogs for a wet walk. My neighbor had her door open and in went Simba he stayed a short while and came out I wonder if they even knew he came for a visit? I did manage to cut my hair. I cut DHs too. I must of played and sang on the piano for about an hour. DH sang along too. We were going grocery shopping but just stayed home. We just couldn't seem to get going. Today will be different I am getting out of this house!!! Big doings lol grocery shopping

My GSs last gig at Poland Spring. Summer is over. He will be teaching music now. School is starting

My check book is all good again. Hope it stays that way. DH is so good at figures. He can just looks and knows what is wrong. I have to go over each thing. Subtract and add everything again.

Well on with my busy life.

Hugs. Barbara.

Betty, you need to go to your start page and click up in upper left on accounts/email or something like that. You will have to put your new email in there.

Irish Ei, I wake up at six usually, too. Guess that is from getting up to go to work for 40 years and also being a farmer's wife for 58. Kind of worries me as that will be 5 am in November when the time changes.

I thought I was on here yesterday but apparently not as I had to start my streak over. I deep cleaned my office yesterday. I took a lot of things out and now they are sitting in a clothes basket on the floor by the closet. I will sort that out later. My DD is planning a birthday party for me this Saturday with my sisters and nieces for lunch and others at two. I think I have mentioned this before but beings she is having it here at my house I am cleaning. I can always do my best work on the house when I have company company coming. I keep thinking I am going to have someone come and clean but I can still do it so I keep on doing what is necessary. I even shampooed the floor of my office. I did sleep good last night, must have been tired??

Things to do.

Good Morning to all.

Sure has been an interesting few days in the financial world, hasn't it? Makes one wonder what is going on. Each one of us is such a tiny speck in the scheme of things that it makes for a feeling of powerlessness. I guess that's where the saying "strength in numbers" takes on significance. Enough of my philosophizing. (not sure that is even a word)

DORIS: My heart goes out to you. Nothing hurts a mother more than when her child is hurting. I will go online and check out your book for my Kindle. Thank you for telling me about it.

About time for my DH to rise...I won't say and shine.....he has never been a shiner first thing in the morning.

Have a good day all.

Hi everyone, a warm day with all the t-storms missing us. Had to water the hanging plants today.

Betty - I love painted furniture. I have a couple of white painted tables with painted lilacs and green leaves. Brought them back from the Cape a few years ago for the sunroom.

Nora - good to see you, glad you had a good trip.

Doris - prayers continue for your family. I am sure working on your novel will give you a break from a mother's unavoidable worry.

Leona - I work for a small high tech medical imaging company. I have gone from the garage with them, got FDA clearance, etc. however, we are still trying to hit it BIG! I am not high tech, do mostly administrative work, write grants, take care of the boss's emails, etc.

I made a salad of fresh mozzarella, tomato, evoo and basil tonight. It was so good-could make a whole dinner out of it! Be interesting to see what the market gives us tomorrow. Last week they gave us the knobbiest potatoes I have ever seen, but the tomatoes, peaches and corn was delicious.

Take care.

Today, vacuumed two rugs, and polished two bureaus, baked cookies and cooked chicken and I am tired. We watched American Sniper. It was dragged out. The day is coming to an end and may just go lie down for a while. Nights are getting dark early and too hot to go outside, so the night drags on.

The end of August is coming and soon Sept. and my doc appointments. I hate going but that is life when you get old, I guess. Our anniv of 54 years is Wed and not sure where I want to go to eat. Dh doesn't really care where. He got me a card and I got him one. We used to do cards for Valentine and Easter but now just xmas, birthday and anniv.

MJP, I am sure you will get a lot of tips and suggestions from the writers. A lot are self publishing, but some are going traditional.

Lee, I thought you had stuff already published by a traditional publisher.
A lot of my friends are going self publish. Just be carful because one friend spent l000 and never got the money back from selling her books. You have to be careful who you go with.
Check them out on pred-ed.com/peba.ht

You might want to try this for a publisher. They are looking for submissions.
