Good Morning on a Saturday.....

Nothing much happening, Sara is with us and DH & I are enjoying every moment with our DD....we hope she decides to stay longer. The weather has cooled off, the temps are now in the 60s, it gets really windy in the early evenings and then starts raining, intact yesterday I had to get a shawl to cover me up as I could even feel a bit chill....the unpredictability of the weather...sheeesh.

Frances the Squash and zucchini sound delicious and Kilean gave you the thumbs up by relishing it.... very satisfying when the children enjoy what we make for them...

Dot, how lovely that you could reach you DB to wish him and make his day.

Nora, most definitely you have been missed and wonderful to hear from you.

Helen, sorry about the loss of your friend and thank you telling us about your blog....loved your story and cried reading it and then shared it with my DD too and both of us cried again.... but it was lovely...Thank you for being our Sandpiper for the day....

Leona, the romantic story was sweet and finally they are both American citizens... all's well that end's well

Lee couldn't agree more about the internet age.... I get to see our GGGS Zubin in London, every Sunday on Skype..... it's such a pleasure... though we get to see the child only every 6 months, the 6 year old is very familiar and comfortable with us....we aren't strangers to him....PTL.

Marlene, doesn't take too long to distract the children though.... being the wonderful GGM you are I am sure he won't be missing home for too long....

Mel, your diet sounds wonderful.... well for a couple of days in a week I have crushed granola bars in Yougurt, this was my DGGDIL's invention for me.... she pounded the granola bar and soaked it is Yougurt for an hour, to make it easy for me to chew and it tasted good too.... I have it as breakfast or sometimes as an evening snack.... works well. I too have gone vegetarian and don't really miss my meat. That could also be that without my teeth the meat would also be a bother to eat.

Doris your refrigerator all stocked up sure sounds healthy and tempting.

Jean, you do have a very creative child in Sloan.... another thing that is safe, as to how I initiated my grand daughter's into crochet is making a chain without using a crochet hook as there is always the fear that they might hurt themselves with it.... just putting a slip-knot and looping the thread in... you wouldn't need a needle.... I still remember Edna doing this with multiple colors of wool and using that as a braid in her hair...

Have a great Saturday....

hugs & prayers to all

Hi Everyone,

So happy to see so may of you following a good diet. I am still very involved with the Oxalate diet. I am allowed only one cereal Corn Flakes can you imagine. I have not eaten corn flakes since I was a child. However lucky me they are low in calories. I eat bacon and an egg three times a week and that is my breakfast. Lunch is a cheese or meat sandwich made with Rye Bread...thanks to jean and Lee I am now happy with the Jewish Seedless Rye. Dinners are still a problem for me. I am allowed so few veggies. Meat, I can have all kinds but only 4/6oz. Have been filling up on wild Rice. Can have many fruits so my snacks this week have been fresh cherries and yogurt - love them. Have an appointment Tuesday with the Urologist who put me on this diet and hopefully I can talk her into letting me add some of the Medium diet foods.

Nora we miss you and hope you get the computer fixed soon.

Doris love that picture and Marlene you were beautiful then and now. Give that boy lots of loving hugs if he is homesick ~ that will cure him.

Hey I am in the middle of doing laundry and had better get back to it. Went through my closet this morning and have clothes all over my bed to take to the thrift store. The storms finally past over today. It thundered all morning.

BBL,
Dot

It was such a lovely morning, I decided to walk a bit further. I ran out of aspirin (I often take one at night for general aches and pains) so thought we could hike to the CVS near the edge of town. I was glad I did, for we saw 2 little spotted fawns frolicking through the fields that surround the Valley Museum. So cute and actually not very timid as I was able to take several photos before they moved away. On the way back, we stopped at a school playground so Kilean could run off some of his energy - after which, he napped the rest of the trip. We did just a tad over 5 miles and I'm sure I must have sweated off a pound or two??

I couldn't decide what to fix for dinner tonight, either. Finally opted for a selection of salads: I'm making two pasta salads - one with tuna and one with veggies, a chef's salad, a cottage cheese and fruit salad, and a chicken salad. I think, with some fresh rolls, that will be enough.

Hurray, Nora! So glad you're back - even if it's temporary. Hopefully you'll get your computer problems fixed soon.

Doris, all your fruits and veggies sound wonderful. I eat semi-vegetarian, and try to stay low on the food chain. My daughter insists on organic when it can be gotten, so I try to accommodate her, even though I find it rather expensive.

Jean, I love your Sloan stories! I'm glad you're teaching her to crochet, for I've heard that if you learn crotchet, knitting comes much more easily - and that the opposite is not true. (I can't attest to it, as I never learned to crochet).

Glad you're losing, Mel - and doing it with popcorn!

Helen, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. It's sad that they didn't notify you at the time, but nice you reached out.

Sweet love story, Leona.

I think I'll try to squeeze in a little knitting while Kilean plays and dinner chills. My son-in-law will be back tomorrow and I can go back to my "normal" routine - and guess what? I survived! LOL.

Sue, came to the computer to do some searching and saw your message.
I use Ann's House Soy Energy Blend on my salad of lettuce and cabbage.
It has 7 g of Protein. It contains soy nuts, almonds, pumpkin kennels and cranberries. It is high in calories. 150 per 1/4 cup. Also has 7 g of sugar which is high. I get it at Costco-36 oz for about 8.00.
I guess I am craving crunch in my diet with this mixture and popcorn.
I also mix a little dry cereal in my yogurt in the morning.

We have had nothing but one storm after another. Really scary with winds and trees falling. Trees in the mountains do not put down very deep roots so wind is definitely the enemy.

Marlene, I love your picture of the past, but you are still as lovely as this picture!

Nora, so sorry about your computer. I can certainly relate to that problem. You have been missed.

Frances, I am so happy you found a dog house and await your results. This is such a sweet effort and I know will be appreciated by all who see and use it. I have seen this for adults as well and it goes over really well. A good way of not wasting good writing. If your week was long, then mine was short. It went so fast, I could hardly believe it was edging on another weekend so quickly.

emoticon Shirley. I am so sorry I am late with my wishes, but do pray you had a very special day!

Doris, I have always loved that picture you have put on your profile. Do hope DD's are doing better.

Mary, thanks for updating us on Arell. Sure hope he gets home.

Helen, I had never seen the Sandpiper story, but it was so heart-wrenching and one I shall never forget. So sad for you about your friend.

Joy, it is such a joy to see you here! Keep coming back and let us get to know you.

Elsie, such a lovely gift...quilts are made with such love.

Leona and all those who commented about Sloan wanting to learn to crochet....we did get started and she was happy with me for taking time to show her. We shall continue when she is here. Neither of her GM's crochet, so I feel this is an opportunity for me to leave an impression on her. Funny, though, her one GM does knit and even though she did not know what it was called, she kept telling me and making the motions of "two" needles rapidly knitting. Since I do not knit, that will be left for someone else. I am very careful with anything we do...watch her every move with the crochet hook and she is also learning to cut with scissors. I bought her ones with blunt ends, and never leave her alone with them. She does a great job of cutting paper...the only thing she is allowed to cut...especially since the first time she used them, she cut her hair!!! Good thing her mother is a hairstylist!

Sorry I made this so long.

Hugs emoticon
Jean

Good afternoon.
I spent my morning shopping for vegetables and fruits. I found some great buys, nectarines, blueberries, red grapes, cantaloupe, organic bananas and then romaine, red and yellow peppers, organic grape tomatoes and a seedless cucumber.
Now I am all stocked up for days. This is basically what I have been eating now except for some low-fat cottage cheese, a small amount of yogurt each day and very little protein, I do have an egg for breakfast every other day and use oatmeal or bran flakes for the other days, I keep a bit of deli roast beef in the refrig. and eat a slice or two when the spirit moves me..
Last night, I did make a wonderful stir fry by using only one lean pork chop and have enough for one more day. This method has lost me the pounds that I have been wishing to lose and it makes me feel good and energized.
I think that each of us has to find the right method for our own body. We are certainly not all the same when it comes to metabolism and to will power.
I have cut breads out entirely and although it was the most difficult of all, I believe I have now beat the craving.

I have not heard from my daughter, Laura, today as yet, but she is three hours earlier there and so may not until later today. They fly tomorrow and I so hope all goes well.

Nora, Do know that you are missed. I trust you will be back with us soon.
Mani, Have an enjoyable time with Sara, You can cheer her, if anyone can!

Lee, You sound as though you are doing well...Much love. The same to Dot. What a joy to speak with your brother on his big birthday..

Fran and Mel, You both keep so busy with your projects..I sit in admiration.

Cannot remember all others and must get to my writing....
Best to all and Love, Doris emoticon

I just came to the computer and read the posts.

To see anyone's blog, just click onto their Icon (image) which takes you to their page and then click onto where the Blogs are listed in the upper right hand corner.

So much is going on and I owe many responses but know I have read all your posts. Sometimes it takes me a bit longer to mull things over.

And, is anyone busier than Marlene??? She can't even get her post written without a zillion interruptions. But long as they are happy ones.

I am losing weight and getting almost excited. Found a eating pattern that is working for me.
You will find it strange but here is what I eat. Yogurt for breakfast, fruit for snack, salad for lunch with a soy protein mixture in it, fruit for snack and a BIG bowl of popcorn for my evening meal.
Might have a fruit snack in the evening. So far I am not graving meat. Will keep meat for when I go out to eat. I am also doing some floor exercises and using weights at home. Sometimes I go to the pool and walk in it for an hour while sitting on a noodle.

Lee, I forgot to tell you how happy I was to hear about how well your surgery went on Wed.
God is Good!!

Helen, so sorry to hear about your friend. It is always sad to lose friends. it is like another chapter on our lives that is closing. Blogs use to be posted on sparks page along side of our post. Now there are ads. So how do I find your Blog? I looked at the Blogs on the Sparks main page, but did not see yours.

Leona, what nice love stories.

Nora, happy to hear you are ok. Computers can be fixed or renewed. Looking forward to your future posts.

Dot, wow, 66 years. What a milestone.

Frances, my tomato plants hit the dust. Too hot here. I did pick the ones that were on the vine and put them in a brown bag to see if they will get ripe. Your veggies sound wonderful.

Mani, thanks for the info on Yoga and the ovens. The SUPW sounds like a wonderful program.

Elsie, your strawberry rhubarb cake reminds me of a recipe from my DH's family. They loved their rhubarb custard pie. Do you grow your own rhubarb?

Welcome Linda, hope you join us in our chat. Great group.

Time to go do my floor exercises and get on with the day.

I had read the Sandpiper before and knew how it ended. But I read it again and cried again. It is such a sad but happy story,

I was trying a vegetarian diet but it was not what I wanted so will stay heavy I guess. Seems it was too confining, I found myself hungry for meat. So I will try to limit starches but not entirely and eat lots of fish and chicken along with vegetables. I like vegetables and fruits but I think a balanced diet is better.

Opps! someone at the door.

Back again. I have chicken vegetable soup cooking for lunch. And I ate a tomato that came off my vine in a pot on the deck.

Oh, the door again, this time it is my SIL and he is going to weed eat and mow. He brings his step grandson with him. He is 12 and will be 13 next month. I sent him to the garage to work out on machines or the Wii. He is here for six weeks from Orlando Florida. He will be going to church camp before he flies back to Florida. I think he is homesick.

Yesterday, I talked to my friend about her son-in-law. He finally got his visa and green card to come to Amerca. This is a love story. She was with her daughter on a Nile cruise and her daughter fell in love with an Egyptian. They got marrided and they have been trying for 4 years to get him here.
I have another one; I was in England with a group of travel agents. As we pulled onto the property, an agent kept looking at a young man and he kept looking at her. We were at this property only 2 days but there was roamnce the air. She flew back to England and they married. emoticon

Good Morning, Friends!

Nora - Certainly have thought of you, dear friend. Glad to know it is your computer and not you that is not functioning correctly!

I heard some very sad news yesterday. Out of the blue I tried to phone an old and dear friend. The last I heard from her was when she phoned me last summer. We would get in touch once or twice a year and always found something to talk about. When I discovered her phone had been disconnected, I reactivated my Facebook account and sent a message to her daughter. A friend of hers replied and told me her mom had passed this winter. Another reason why not to put things off for too long. . .

Coincidentally, I got a lovely Sandpiper story from a Spark Friend earlier in the day. I deleted it from here but you can read it in my blog. Thought it might be too disturbing for some of you. I found it a JOY!

Mattie we really got the rain today too. It stormed last night and woke me up around 4am then I couldn't get back to sleep finally got up at 6am. We had storms off and on all day and some heavy rains.

Mani finally did reach my brother. It was also their Wedding Anniversary he got married on his birthday. They have been married 66 years. I was sixteen and a bridesmaid. The phone rang off the hook all day and finally I called my other brother to see if perhaps they were away on vacation. He said they were not away...we had a lovely long chat. England is five hours ahead of the US. so I tried once more and he answered...so I started singing...he was really blessed so he said. We talked and visited a long time and then also with his lovely wife my SIL. All the English family had gotten together for his 90th birthday on Saturday and they had a lovely party. This couple never had any children ~ I was so happy to know my other brother and his growing family threw a party for him.

Did not take a nap so am ready to go to bed...will read a while but not to get sleepy. I am sure if I go to sleep now I will wake in a couple of hours and not get back to sleep.

Goodnight, hugs and Blessings to all,
Dot

I took Kilean to the playground this morning - 3 miles round trip - and he had a wonderful time. He loves being allowed to walk around and explore on his own, poking into everything. Of course he was a tired little boy by the time we got back.

The zucchini and summer squash were so delicious - straight from the garden! I sliced and layered them in a baking dish, then made a mixture of olive oil, garlic, and herbs to pour over them, topping it all with parmesan cheese. It baked up beautifully and complemented the chicken and dressing very nicely. I didn't think Kilean would like the taste of the garlic, but he gobbled it up and kept asking for more.

Lee, how nice you have such an attentive doctor. And how wonderful you are bouncing right back.

I hope you reached your brother to sing "Happy Birthday," Dot. Funny about the newspaper article. I did find a used doghouse for sale for only $25, but it was much too large. Then found some online for around $60 that will do perfectly with just the addition of a door. Oh, and no doubt a lot of silly, colorful paint!

Oh Mel, when I am only cooking for myself I also wait until the last minute and then grab something - usually something I shouldn't. It's only because I'm cooking for the family this week that I've been planning out the meals a bit more.

Wow Elsie, all that baking and still losing weight for 6 weeks straight! Good for you!

Barbara, maybe you should strap Buttercup in a stroller. Although your adventures would not be so amusing.

Mani, I hope Sara's mood improves while she visits. She must find it hard struggling with her illnesses. The good news regarding your grandsons is that they all support the same team! Can you imagine if they were divided?

Mattie Sue, it's nice you found a walking partner at last. It's hard to feel motivated when you're on your own.

I've neglected my knitting today - I think I completed 3 or 4 rows - so I am now going to get out my audiobook and get to work! Have a great evening!

Good Morning .....

Just a quick pop in.... have been busy as Sara, has come over to spend a couple of days with her dad and me.... she has been battling poor health since the last 3 months and is almost slipping into a depression, so we thought a couple of days with us would cheer her up. She will be with us till Sunday.

Happy Birthday Shirley emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Kathy, wishes for you and your DH to get over the chigger bites soon....

Jean that's so sweet of Sloan to want to learn crochet.... yes doing the chain is a good idea.... my 8 year old Grt-grt-grand daughter, Zara actually knitted a hair band, just 10 stitches of only Knit on all rows... it was part of their school assignment...they have something called SUPW - socially useful productive work... so all the children were asked to make 2 bands each, keep one and give away the other to a charity the school supports.

Marlene that picture of yours is precious... you look stunning....

Mary good to hear from you and pray that Arell gets out of hospital safe and sound.....

Mickey good to hear that you are having a lovely holiday....

Frances busy day.... cooking, cleaning, knitting, walking and minding Kilean... Phew.. And yes however the Soccer mania at home continues.... both my youngest GGS's will wear nothing but the Yellow T-shirts every day, last week I thought it was their school uniform till their mom told me it was the Brazllian team jersey....

Lee that was so sweet of your doctor, but guess he would definitely want to take good care of one of his sweetest patients.....Good to know you are doing fine...

A very happy birthday tp your brother Dot.... and how sweet of you to call & sing to them ....

Mel I used to do regular Yoga, years ago,but had to give it up almost 10 years ago as I couldn't do most of the Aasanas as I had to fold my knees completely. I am know being initiated into chair yoga for seniors, where I sit on a chair to do the yoga & not on the floor.
And talking about ovens, yes we do have ovens in India... all types..... Convection, Microwave and what have you....Yes we have slow cookers as well as pressure cookers which we use to cook meats in.....

Doris, a relief that you spoke to your DD, hope her trip goes well.... the child continues to be in my prayers... in fact both Laura & Jan & loved your profile pic.

Have a great Friday

Hugs
Mani

Good afternoon.

In the mid 80s now and a little humid.

Had a nice meeting at noon today.

My husband is mowing now and I did my 10 minutes of writing for part of the Novu tasks to be by myself.

Have a good night.

Happy Birthday Shirley. And many more.

Cold here today. Feel nice after all that hot muggy weather.

Finally Buttercup went up the hill with me. We were about 1/2 way up and DH yelled for us to come back. The big dogs heard him and started barking. I never seen Buttercup run so fast in my life. Right back home and left me up on the hill all by myself. DH does not like me to go up go far he is afraid I will fall or something, Maybe some big fox will eat me.

Nothing exciting going on here. Very dull.

You all have a good evening. Hugs Barbara

Hello for a moment...

First, yes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR SHIRLEY... emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon I hope it is a pleasant one..How old? or don't you tell?

Thank you all for the prayers and good wishes for my daughters..Laura called yesterday and although her speech was halted, she said she was feeling a bit better. Her doctor ordered an inhaler for her and told her to have a wheelchair there at the airport on Saturday. She gets into Anderson MD in Texas at midnight so that will be a difficult trip, I am sure, however very important to her Cancer treatment. They told her to plan on five days there at least. I'll keep you all updated..

Lee, I am so glad that the surgery went well and how thoughtful of your doctor to call you in the evening to see that you were fine.

Fran, I am no expert grammarian, that is, I too make plenty of mistakes in the English language, to be sure. I do not look at any of the posts with scrutiny as we all do this very quickly...so as to get on with our day to day lives..

I quickly read all of the posts, but will not comment as I could not reiterate all that is going on in your various worlds. Just know that I appreciate all of your good wishes.....
I will get busy here. Lisa is cleaning as I write and it will be lovely to have the home all nice and neat again . I do not make too much of a mess as I like things orderly, but to have it all vacuumed is so important, as with my back condition, that motion is impossible for me.

Adieu for today. Love, Doris emoticon

Could not sleep, so got up early. I am sure a nap is in the plans for later today.

Hopefully I can get to to pool tonight. We have had storms in the area and did not want to be in the pool. I did play cards, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night. So tonight is clear to go.

Happy Birthday Shirley. emoticon

Frances, it is great the way you plan ahead for your meals. It seems, I get hungry and then look in the refrigerator and say now what?

Mickey, sounds like you are having a very relaxing trip.

Nasfkab, do most people not have ovens in India? Do they use show cookers there? Sometimes you can change recipes that require a oven and do it in a slow cooker.

MaryB, it is great to hear Arell is schedule for release soon. I am sure you will be so glad to get him home.

Elsie, what a nice thing to do - donate your winning quilt to the club.

Marlene, I like the picture. I am sure that brings back memories of your younger days.

Jean, I agree with others. Try to teach Sloan to crochet. It would be interesting to see her do it. My DGD said she was learning to crochet. I ask who was teaching her and she said, UTube. I knew her mother is not crochet and neither do it.

Kathy, hope you are finding relief for the bites.

Camey, I saw where your storm was classified as a tornado. Hope you are getting help with the damage.

Mattie, nice that you have a walking partner now that your DD is retired.

Mani, do you still do Yoga?

Sue, good luck with the South Beach diet. Several years ago, my DH and I went on the Sugar Buster diet and lost a lot of weight. it is a lot like the SB diet.

Time to close as I hear some thunder. Hopefully we will get some rain as we sure need it.

It rained an inch and three quarters early this morning. emoticon
Now the sun emoticon is coming out so it will be steamy but right now it is in the 60s. emoticon but supposed to get in the 90s this afternoon.

My DD, her DH and step grandson were coming down this morning and pick sand plums, they are thick this year. I am not sure if the will come now because of the muddy roads to get to the plums. I think they are still on Skype talking to their grandkids in England.

My sentiments were also expressed by all of you below. . .

Jean - I tho't it a good idea to teach Sloan to crochet too until it occurred to me she could easily poke herself in the eye if not careful but not having kids of my own, I wouldn't really know.

Mani and others - I figured there was such disappointment in Brazil not winning b/c they had such a good team but 2 of their best players were not playing b/c of injuries. And thanks for the comments on my eyes. I have an appt. scheduled next month.

Had to turn on the sprinklers last night - we've had beautiful weather during the Stampede this year but one horse has already been killed from the chuck wagons so the animal activists are out in full force. One rider was hurt and thrown off the wagon when circling the drum or whatever it is called, but I hardly heard a rumble about that! He's okay, by the way.

Marlene - What a great picture! I can see why it was your dh/s favourite.

Good Morning,

My Brother who lives in England is 90 today. I have been calling since 6am my time and no answer. Called my other brother to see if he had gone away, but have been told he hasn't...so will keep trying. What a bother...I always call and sing Happy Birthday to my brothers...they get a big kick out of that.

A couple of replies to a few of you...Kathy the chiggers nasty little things, borrowing in under the skin ~ in SC was told to paint them with nail polish to cut off their air supply. I used clear nail polish as I remember. This maybe an old wives tale. Cannot remember if it helped or not. One thing I learned was to be careful about sitting on anything wood that have been around outside. That is where they live. Don't think we ever had them in England. Hope you get rid of them soon.

Sue I had great success with the South Beach Diet...like you I missed the bread. But it is a very healthy diet. I wish you and DH lots of success with it.

Jean, I agree with Frances if you can teach Sloan to make a chain either she will keep at it or will give up. I think my sister taught me when I was around four and by eight years I was knitting hats and mittens as I remember.

Mickey you are enjoying your vacation and today just to relax and enjoy the view and your book. Sounds wonderful to me.

MaryB glad Arell is getting out of the hospital ~ hope you can get a manicure soon so you will be able to type without mistakes. Guess I am lucky my nails always break off before they get to long. I have always longed for long nails. Hope you hear from you again soon. Miss you when you are not posting.

Frances I was leafing through our weekly local paper this morning. It had an article about the Little Free Library and an elaborate picture of one with a local small city Mayor at the opening on June 30th. I thought it was ironic to be informed not only by you but the newspaper too about the Little Free Library projects. Something that I would have been delighted to be involved with many years ago...when we did not have a library on the beach community where I lived. Now I live a mile from a Million dollar library - that is very busy. Before the Nook I was visiting a couple of times a week ~ now I download my books anytime of the day or night...it is great.

So with that I will close wishing you all many blessing today and every day.
Hugs, Dot

Almost forgot two things:

Hi all. did nap off and on yesterday then had some trouble sleeping last night but to be expected. thanks for your kind words. I am doing just fine. would you believe the Dr. called me at 8 last night to see how I was. I said delighted. I was impressed that he called from home.
(I have caller ID, lol)

Doris I hope Laura is losing fluid as we speak! Keep your wonderful faith and prayers are going up for all!

Sue good to see you posting, but sorry your foot still hurts. You did a lot all considered!!

Kathy we got chigger bites on vacation i Minnesota when I was young. Big and very itchy.
You and DH must be so discouraged. Caladryl helped the itch.

Frances for feeling tired, you sure accomplish more that a teenager. hmmm do they accomplish? But you do.

Elsie I agree. Nice that you are donating your quilt!!

Glad you are having a good and relaxing time Mickey.

Mel. I hope your daughter realizes it is you who are out the $$ and decides to fight this thing.

Joy, so glad you are posting with us.

Hugs to all,

Good morning! This has been one very long, tiring week - and still a couple more days to go. I thought I would get into the swing of it, but I must say I am really tired. Not planning much today: a walk, some knitting, a little house cleaning. I have a whole chicken for roasting tonight and plan to pick some fresh squash from the garden to go with it. If I have enough apples, I might bake a pie.

Happy Birthday, Shirley! Haven't seen you posting, but I hope you're popping in to see us!

How nice you were able to do so many gift bags, Dot.

Good luck with your new diet, Sue.

Funny about your great-grandsons, Mani. My family are big soccer fans and my son and his friends can get VERY noisy during games! LOL. I was happy Germany won, but had hoped for the Netherlands. I expect the cup will be Argentina's this time.

Kathy, sorry about those chigger bites. Ouch!

Maureen, I don't think you have chiggers in Canada. They're a sort of mite that "hibernates" in the ground - probably too cold that far north (in fact, I don't think we even have them in NY - but not certain).

Jean, go ahead and teach Sloan to make a chain. I was talking to a woman, recently, and she told me her mother gave her yarn and a hook when she was 4 years old. She said she just made chains and pulled them out over and over until she was proficient. She is now in her 80s and makes beautiful items to sell.

Marlene, is that you?! What a looker! You must be about 18 or 19?

Elsie, it's nice you can go to the Y to exercise.

Mary, I hope Arell's discharge goes well this time. Do tie him down if you must! LOL.

Nas, do you use a "tandoor" oven? I think you could make the recipe with that, easily, and just substitute lamb or beef.

Mickey, enjoy your book and the fresh sea air!

Kilean and I are going out now. I want to walk before it gets too hot.

Good morning.

Doris- I do hope all will be firm for your daughter. emoticon

Benham Brothers on FOX now. They say HGTV still helped with the funds for the homes even thought they were fired before they began their show. Strange.. emoticon

Our Marine is still in the Mexican prison. emoticon

Elsie- How nice of you to donate your quilt. It is good to give. emoticon

Jean- I would try to teach Sloan. She will remember the times. My mother helped my daughter learn to tat but since we lived so far away, they never got to do more but my daughter remembers.

We will be gone all day so I need to get busy.

Have a good day and take care

Hi everyone - a quick good morning as DH and DGS are on their 'bagel run.'

Sue - my other fish indulgence will be to go to Arnold's on 6A for one more fish dinner.

Kathy - sorry about the chigger bites - very annoying.

Lee - glad surgery is over and you are ok.

Doris - sorry about Laura - talk about a misdiagnosis; I could see why her M.D. does not want her to lay down. I know of a few people who would start to yell: malpractice suit!

Friend from home who is watering my plants said it is 'ungodly hot' and this is a person who is always cold! Family is going on a 3 hr. kayak tour today-I will enjoy my walk and my book on the deck.

Take care.
Mickey
