Hello all,
Thanks for all the encouragement and prayers. It is a change of life for me. The service yesterday was beautiful. Lots of friends and his family were all there. The vocalist sang Ave Maria and she did a beautiful job. So many friends said to call them when I need someone. Our kids did a wonderful job and they have helped me so much.
Give an extra hug to your loved ones today and cherish it.
The urn two of our sons made was beautiful. They also made a cross of brass and copper to put on top. When my husband designed it, he said it was for two.

Thank you for letting me share with you. It really helps when I read from others who have been through this. You have no idea how much it helps all for us.
Take care
Leona

Well hello there! Long time no see.

Funny figured how to get on here with my phone but it was so small. DD came to the rescue and let me use one of her I pads. Much better. Still miss my computer. We are taking it to Apple today to see if it can be fixed. Gosh I hope so do not want to need to buy another one. I am a very fast typest and this thing has really slowed me down.

I see you are all little busy bees as usual. Sure missed you all. Hugs Barbara

Stopping in to wish you all a blessed and peaceful Sunday.

What a day Marlene!

Mel that brought a tear to my eye too. What a sweet soul your son has.

I imagine many will watch the game. I used to watch football a lot when my 2nd husband wa alive. Now I just watch playoffs and Super bowl. Fair weather friend.

Enjoy the day all.

Love and hugs,
Lee

Kathy, somehow your letters got changed to white instead of black, white would work if the background was black. I do not know how it got changed, someone could have done it or you could have done it without knowing. Or maybe I did it when I made the sheet. It is changed back now.

It has been one of my days where I start something go in the other room and see something else that needs done, then think of something else I have to get done now, then back to one of the other things and etc. I think I finally got them done. Things including reading my daily Bible, I am reading through the Bible on chronological order, counting out my weekly pills, putting a roast in the microwave to thaw, making the bed, getting dressed instead of cooking with my pj's on, back to put the roast in the oven, back to reading my Bible. My son came for lunch(dinner at my house) and my nephew came. I made brownies, scalloped potatoes and etc. I did finally get my chapters for the day read in the Bible. The dishwasher took care of the dishes and I have not done a whole lot since.

Mel, I leave a small light on because Hailey is all black. Why not get that thing you put around your neck, safety first?

Frances, My oncologist didn't give me a pill when I had the cancer because my estrogen was low but she said I didn't need to put anymore in my body, so I am staying away from any products that have it and there are plenty. Look at all the weight you will lose. It is also in Oven baked potato chips. Now, why? They are not fried, so why put oil in them? My dil's mother's oncologist also told her when she was alive too. And she was middle 70.I noticed it in bread too. I eat the egg white cookies with sugar as nothing in there and a lot of other foods say nothing in them too, like Oatmeal.

Mel, that is quite a story, and a beautiful memory to hold on to.
You and I have something in common, in that our dear ones passed on the same day as each other, so I always think of you, as I count off the months.
Do you still have those agonising moments happen, where you have this deep yearning just to be able to touch his dear face or lean against his shoulder one more time ?
I wonder if it is because I spend so many weeks at a time on my own, I don't think I am quite so bad when my DD is back here in her part of the house upstairs, but they have their motel to run and they cannot just turn their back on it because of me.
I have a security alarm hooked up, and I wear a thing round my neck when I am home, so that if I were to fall I would just press the button and the "voice" on the other end would come on and find out what was happening and send ambulance or whatever was required.
Also she would advise my family, whose numbers she has in case any of this happens.
It has been a worthwhile expense, (not very much per month) in that it gives me and the family peace of mind.
Still very hot here, we had a couple of cooler days during the past week, but today is a "doozey" !!!!

Lunch went well today. Some of us ate at 1 and some a little later. But, we did not wait this time. I sent most of the leftovers home with the two DDs.

Then discovered my freezer door is not closing all the way. It is a side by side, so I took a bunge cord and connected the two doors so it closes. That will do until Monday and I can get a repair person out to repair it.
I might even lose some weight as I won't be getting into the refrigerator so easily.

Frances that is a bummer with your wrist. Hope it gets better soon. Take care.

Camey, I have heard of so many people getting injured when they get up in the middle of the night. I try to be careful when do so. It is scary when you live by yourself and you know if you fell, there would be no one to pick you up.

I do not have a favorite for the game tomorrow. May the better team win.

I shed a few tears today. We have a monthly magazine for the complex I live in. A friend I met wrote an article about my husband and it came out today. He did some very heroic missions in Vietnam and they had been written up in another paper many years ago. I had showed them to Howie and he wanted to share it with others.
It ends by telling how my son leaned over to my husband during his last hours with us and told him, "Job well done sir".

Watching more basketball, it's pretty much non-stop today. This and the ACC tournament are my favorite time for sports.

It's been a slow but steady pace today. Did some major bedroom and bathroom cleaning. I'm at the point of time to leave the emotions behind and get rid of stuff. Look out Good Will.

Travelingmamma, take care of yourself, only one hand with a little one is work.

I still haven't completely gone all white yet. I do see more white trying to find a spot to stay but with my brown it gets covered up when I comb my hair.

Ed, lucky 28 we had l2 and going to minus numbers Mon thru Wed and a possibly of another ft. of snow coming. As for soy, I guess you don't know soy can give you cancer because it has estrogen. Not sure about men with it but women it is a problem. My oncologist told me to stay away from anything with soy. Check out my blog.

As for the Seahawks, know they have a good defense but so do the Pats. Of course, you know who I am cheerng for. Just have to watch those deflated footballs. LOL

Mel we are also waiting to hear the bad news with the snow.

I am washing clothes and towels again and probably will Monday before anything in snow hits us. Always worrying about electricity going out. We have wind and the house gets cold when it is windy.

Well, what a surprise lost a lb. this week. Yea for me.

My exercise is done except bike and off for breakfast now and then bike and then other chores.

Got an email one of my friends got up to go to the toliet and fell and hit her head on the bed and did damage to her hip and is now in rehap. They are not sure yet if it will heal by itsself or she will need to go under the knife. She is 73.

Good morning all:

Sorry about your wrist Frances. And not at all will we be glad not to see your long posts.
Quite the opposite. You help keep me up to date when I am rushed.

Mel, yes I can relate. I asked Pam if she would be willing to try to get her cadiologist
for Brian. I know it is free, but free doesn't help fix him if they don't even look at the tests
they put him through (especially the day before Thanksgiving). Sorry about your
DS trouble. Doesn't that all seem par for the course.

Leona many here have experienced what you are going through. I dare say all in
different ways with different coping skills. Have someone to talk to is a good thing and we are here and mindful that each person is different but all care.

That goes for everyone. I know I need to vent on here once in awhile. emoticon

Hope those with snow are getting some relief! I must get showered as meeting Liz at church to once again change out fellowship hall table decorations. Shouldn't take much more than an hour.

Hugs all,
Lee

Saturday morning: cold 28 degrees. I hope everyone is doing well. There has been some sad news out there for some folks....thinking about you.

AARP work is taking more time than I thought and I'll be going to training sessions learning how to listen and to respond yet not react. Going to Raleigh on Monday-Tuesday for an annual meeting of the AARP Legislative Contacts to review what the NC Legislature is doing and planning to do. I also will be getting together with the AARP Rep who is responsible for working with the Latino population to see what his initiatives are and to see how I can jump in and help. At the same time I have to keep up with my court assigned cases. This is going to take some juggling. But, that's what keeps us young and vibrant....yeah, that's me, young and vibrant.

I tried my hand at Mahi-Mahi last night. Soy sauce, sesame oil, sliced pineapple and lemon juice. Baked at 400 for 15 minutes. Served it on a bed of Birdseye Steamed Southwestern Rice with a large kale salad and ginger-lime dressing on the side. All less than 500 calories with not too much fat. Deanna thought it was pretty good and cleaned the plate really well.

Deanna continues to improve and feel better. Her online schooling's first week has demonstrated that we will need to modify our schedules some. But, it is very important she complete her studies for many reasons: self-fulfillment, a sense of accomplishment, job security and promotion opportunities. Been there and done that, so I know what she is feeling. So, the least I can do is make some great meals, make sure she doesn't have to worry about anything around the house, etc.

Well, time to get moving. I need some of that energy I read that some of you expend every day. Send some my way. See you tomorrow. Go, Seahawks. Seattle by 3!

Good Evening,

It was a chilly day here but thankfully there wasn't any wind.

I got several things done that I had been dragging my feet on. Worked about 3 hours on TOPS stuff...doing the weekly treasurer's report and then the monthly one for December. Also updated a form that I use.

So sorry to hear about the illnesses and offer up prayers for healing.

Take care........Elsie

Just popping in so you'll know I'm not off on safari or sunbathing in the Caribbean.

Very busy all day and then I injured my wrist picking up Kilean. So now I'm strapped up and doing everything one-handed. Guess I won't make my quilting class or be doing any knitting for a while. What next?!! Maybe February will be better.

Hope everyone is managing okay and sick/suffering get well.

Ha! And now you're all relieved 'cause my posts will be SHORT!!! emoticon

Checking in, sounds as if everyone has been busy these days. Hope the predicted snow is not very deep.

Mary Lou, sorry to hear about your sister, this type of thing is what just drives us crazy because it is easier if we know what we're facing. With the many problems it is a challenge.
Please know that you are in my prayers.

I am back. Had a nice visit with my friends.

Now getting ready to have the family in tomorrow to celebrate my DGS's 17th birthday.
Making it simple with BBQ sandwiches, chips, coleslaw and he request a strawberry cheesecake for his cake. Told them if they are not her by 1, we will eat without them being here.

MaryLou, sorry to hear about your sister. I know you must be on pins and needles over this.
Will keep her in my prayers.

I have an app on my iPhone that will make it into a magnifying glass and enlarge things.
But, I guess that would not work for you Dot as I think you said you do not use a cell phone.

Camey, hope we are not sending you any more snow. It has been raining here for the last two days. Should stop tomorrow some time. Makes for a damp Super Bowl weekend here.

Lee, I like you new picture. Thought you would identify with this. Took my DD to a new Dr yesterday as her old Dr would not take her new insurance. This new Dr was over whelmed by her problems and wants to refer her to three other Drs to take care of her. So, now, she is looking into changing her insurance so she can get back to her old Dr. Always something.

Mickey, enjoy the beauty of the snow.

Leona, the evening are the worse for me. I slowly got into a routine for the morning and it fills that time. I know you like to read. Maybe you can find a book discussion group. Will be thinking of you tomorrow as I know it will be hard.

Mattie, have a safe trip and sorry about your friend.

Might not get here tomorrow, but will try for Sunday.

Hmm,
I had typed a long post and while I was still typing, suddenly my screen went blank; back to the desktop and no icon I clicked on would come up. I waited 20 minutes hoping it would reappear and then I turned off the computer; then back on and here I am. I have never had that happen before. Is that what they call "crashing"? Of course I lost the post. emoticon

Barb, I hope you will take the advice not to do any shoveling. I know you are used to doing whatever needs doing, but do remember there is only one you! Your dh needs you, your family would be devastated if anything happened to you and your Spark friends, too. Let the dgs and the others take care of your needs. It may hurt your pride, but that's okay. Remember they would have to do a whole lot more if you fell and broke a bone.

I talked to my sis; she went thru all of the prep and was up all night (plus she was so cold even warm blankets wouldn't warm her up); then the bleeding stopped (for the second time)so the dr. decided not to do the colonoscopy. He said he would not do surgery on her as it would be too dangerous. So she knows nothing more than she knew before. Except that the bleeding stopped once yesterday and started up again. But if it stays stopped till morning they will send her home. I am relieved (sort of) but not really. I didn't let her know that, though.

I did little things today to keep busy; accomplished some of what I wanted to do, but couldn't bring myself to do the sewing that I planned. My bad!
But since I did balanced my checkbook, wrote a check, made a needed phone call (funny how when you call to pay a bill there is no problem getting thru; try that when you have a problem and are looking for help!) did some filing, organizing, and pitching, I will reward myself this evening by playing on the I-Pad awhile and then crocheting on the scarf I have started to give to the people at church who take items downtown to the homeless. I took a warm coat and some other items to the church for them yesterday. It is supposed to rain and change to snow tomorrow evening (if they are right; remember the New York forecast) and I can't fathom being homeless at all, but especially in that kind of weather. It hurts your heart to think about it.
After dinner I will call my ds and see if he is feeling better. I want to wait until I know his wife will be home in case he is resting.

Dot, I tried all of the things suggested; I haven't been able to get e-mail notices for a couple of years. Even SparkPeople tech couldn't help me; they suggested it was my server! emoticon

As I suspected, I do feel better this evening. Yesterday is a long time ago and we all have to have a bad day now and then.
So mine is now behind me instead of before me! emoticon

Thanks Camey and Helen. I just got three messages so believe everything is back to normal. You really need a magnifying glass to find email/preferences on the SP page. I don't think I have looked for it since I joined SP. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi everyone,

Just realized that I am not getting email from Spark People. Never had this problem in all these years. I must have done something on the iPad that stopped them...anyone know how I can get them back. Have researched and edited my page and could not find anything on getting email from Spark People. I missed email from 70 and am thankful I have 70 on my Bookmarks and just found out you had all posted but I didn't get notified with a SP email.

Mary Lou, so sorry to hear your sister is in the hospital am praying for her. Hope your son changes his mind about moving...that is a depressing thought. Can understand exactly how you must be feeling. But this to shall pass, and some of the things we worry with do not ever come to pass. Hopefully your ds will have a change of mind ~ praying for that...I know how I would feel if any of my children moved. Love your positive attitude....the sun is still shining!
Bless you!

BBL to check if anyone has an answer to how I can get SP email again when one of you posts.

Hugs and Love,
Dot

I'll have to be brief as have to go out for a bit to help a friend.

A note from BARB. Gramp and I think one of the dogs spilled water on her computer.
She got on FB with her phone and asked me to tell you! I just saw the message so I think
it might be a day old. She will be back if and when it dries out.

Mary Lou you had a really rough day! So sorry to hear all that is going on so painfully
in your life. Take a deep breath and I will be praying for your dear sister and also that your dear son decides not to move!!

More later.
Love and hugs,
Lee

Hi everyone - got about another 2" of snow this morning - still have flurries. This is the wet type of snow - the trees look beautiful.

DH did not go on his hike today - so I know his back/hip is bothering him. I think he did it when he slipped on an unseen patch of ice and caught himself, he didn't fall, but I think he twisted in an awkward position.

Marylou - sorry to hear about your sister, hope they find the cause quickly. Tough to hear about your ds possibly moving - hopefully it will work out.

Leona - It has not been that long since your DH has passed; take it slow - my friends tell me that even though their DH was ill and they knew he would pass, it took time to sink and to be able to get out. I have one friend who could not be around my DH and myself at the same time without breaking down - that lasted for about a year. So I would see her without my DH.

Stay dry, safe and warm.

No, Frances, I have not been doing any puzzles. I don't usually work on them unless my sister is here. I have thought of starting one, but then I will not be able to leave it alone and it will take up too much of my time.

Mattie Sue, I am sorry for your loss. I, too, have lost a dear friend recently. It is sad, but it happens more frequently the older we get.

For all of you who have had so much snow, I am glad for you that your power has stayed on. That is always the biggest concern; especially for those who are totally electric.

Are some days just worse than others?
Yesterday my sister was admitted to the hospital because of hemorrhaging. So far, they haven't determined why. Today a colonoscopy. This happened to her 2 years ago and they told her she has diverticulosis. Between this and the twisted esophagus, it is no wonder she has lost about 30 lbs in the last year. She has so many health concerns, including diabetes (controlled with rx), severe arthritis so she has to get around with a walker and Parkinson's.
To say the least, I am very worried about her.

Then my younger ds (the one who lives 95 miles away) had to cancel coming to my house because he got the flu. He was supposed to come Wednesday, but his dw had to have surgery for a trigger finger, so he rescheduled to today.

To end my day on the same note, I found out my older ds may be moving out of state. He is the one who lives closest to me and the one I call on for little things, ie. to change light bulbs, etc. I have a dd 45 minutes away, but she is always busy; she doesn't offer help, and without going into detail, let's just say I really prefer not to ask her for help.

I had made my younger ds a favorite casserole from our family days, and was sure looking forward to visiting while he painted and feeding him. I will have to try and find room in my side-by-side freezer which is always full. It makes a lot, and I divided it into two container so he could take one home, but alas, will have to feed him another time.

To finish off the day, I lost one of the lenses from my tri-focals (I don't wear them all of the time). However, I did find the screw that held the frame together. Now to find the lens (hope I don't step on it!).

OK, I have whined enough!!!! Shame on me. I can work up a good case of self-pity if I am not careful.
Instead I will concentrate on the positive: The sun is shining, my back is not giving me fits this morning, the birds have returned to the feeder, and I have the whole day in which to accomplish something. A trip to the bank and to the pharmacy for refills should get me out of the house, and that always helps. I can think of several things that need doing. Sometimes I find that if I do something I have put off, the sense of satisfaction offsets the "down-feeling". I will return to let you know if it worked.
Time to get busy.
BBL,
Mary Lou

Leona how about the senior center? They have lots of activity there and you can make a lot of new friends to keep you busy. Sometimes you can get active in the church too with all their programs they have. Someone I knew worked at the library and brought books to people in the hospital to read and then she would return them when they finished. Seniors in nursing homes love books too if you have any you don't want, take them there. Keeping buys doing stuff keeps your mind off of missing him. It is a long hard journey and friends are always there to help you through it. I am the only one left in my family now, my brother and parents are gone. I still miss them. I think I would rather go first because I don't know if I can take care of myself. Dh drove me everywhere. I don't drive as much now only local. Doing things together even makes it harder to be alone. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello all,

Mattie Sue- so sorry of your loss. emoticon

Dot- emoticon

I am trying to do more on the message boards. The mornings are harder for me. I stay at our daughter's house some. The kids call me daily and ask how I am doing.

I will have to get involved in some outside activities.

The ice houses are really nice to have on the lake because it is activity but they will soon be gone.

Tomorrow we will have a Mass for him and many friends are coming.

Take care.

Well, here we go again, it is snowing and will not stop till Sat morning. They are saying only 6 inches, but 6 on top of 28, makes 34 and then another storm we could get from Maine and New Hampshire on Monday and that is a Northeaster. They are watching that one. Like we need all this cold and snow. Tomorrow is only going to be l9 degrees and Sunday low 20, so I am not going anywhere. Dh got me plenty of water and we got a few things we needed like apples, ice cream for him, bag of chips, can goods, etc. No meat as I have fish, chicken, hamburg, franks and ham in the freezer.

Well,I am totally discusted because now found soy oil in the pancake mix, and also in the cresent roll and pizza dough I buy. I guess I have to check everything now. A woman makes enough estergen and does not need more from soy oil to help her get breast cancer. I can't understand why they use it when they know it is loaded with estergen and it can cause cancer in women. Looks like I will be cutting back on a lot of box stuff I used to buy and maybe do a lot of my own baking instead, like I used to.

Awoke this morning to another .2 making .8 I lost for the week. I hope it keeps up. I got into a pair of cords I could not get into before. Love it.

Mattie this is a hard time in your life saying good bye to a friend. Especially a best friend. I talk to mine everynight, even tho we have nothing to say.

Well, better get on my bike as my other exercise is done.

I'm sorry about your friend, Mattie Sue.
It's snowing here in Pawling, and it's not supposed to end until tomorrow night! Can't wait till winter is over.
I still have to unpack, so I'll concentrate on that today.
I have been so tired after the trip, so I will take my time.

Have a nice day, everyone.

Most ov the troubles have been covered by Lee and Frances so my two cents would be much the same. Ditto from me. Prayers are always on delivery. Just stopped in to say hello. It was a quiet day at work too, glad to have tomorrow off. Have to wait and see about the snow. DH is suppose to go on his hike tomorrow morning, but I think he pulled a muscle in his lower back. He never said anything, but I saw that his gait was off. Once I asked him about it, he told me how he felt. I will advise him not to go, but we'll see.

Mattie Sue - sorry to hear about your friend. Safe travels.

We'll be home alone this year for the Super Bowl for the first time in a long time. Told DH I would just make some snacks for us, I know he likes my deviled eggs and a couple of others. I will make some veggies too!

Sleep well.

Mattie Sue sorry to hear about your friend. Will keep you in my prayers.

To MD today as follow-up from the fall, all is well. I feel good no pain. It really works when I behave myself and let the healing take place.

Did get out for 2m walk and have had a fair time staying on plan. Some days are tough, received a gift box of teas from DD yesterday, Helps to have something warm on cold days esp. with the "I don't know what I want".

Going to Hospice tomorrow 8-12. Will take crocheting to pass the time. Will be making heart shaped bookmarks as a remembrance for the families.

Sort of fizzled, so will say good night.

Mattie Sue so sorry to hear that your friend Pat died. From what you have written... can tell when you were showing the dogs that you had a very close relationship through the years. It is very hard to lose a best friend. God be with you, as you and DH travel to be with her husband at this time...and for the funeral.

We are here for you whenever you want to unload your feelings.
God Bless,

I'm so sorry, MATTIE SUE! It is so hard losing a good friend. Safe trip!

Thanks Lee.

I phoned Carl few minutes ago and he had to get up to answer the phone - he feels terrible and said he would phone me. So I cut the conversation short.

A few minutes later, his wife phoned from his place (they live separately) and we had a long chat. We get along great!

My regular e-mail is still not working right so am waiting for a call back from my server. Drats!

Mattie Sue I am so sorry to hear bout your friend.

And Helen sorry about your ex. Hope you get some news soon and good news at that.

Brian was in the ER yesterday eve. Couldn't move his arm for a couple days due to pain in his elbow. Xrays showed inflamation so they gave potent med for that and percocet. I told him
the other would do with all he was taking so not to take the percocet. They "think" bursitis due
to his arthritis or gout. Now since he has an appt with the Cardiologist at 9 this a.m. they told him to ask them for a test for the gout. (doubt in elbow). However, time could have been saved if they'd done it there. Still waiting to here from them.

So this a.m. before Bible study I went to bank to make sure they had enough money for
med if they change it. I hope the Dr. warns him about what he is taking and is explicit on how to take it. I have but...

Always something. But some good news too. Pam has been approved already for Social Security disability. She won't get Medicare automatically for two years but the man will send her all info on how to apply to get sooner.. Also he said Brian will be turned down on not enough information since he was turned down. So he is sending forms for Pam (and me) to fill out
so we can send names and addresses of all he has seen since then and there are a lot and a lot more to come, as the Health Dept is going through one of his illnesses at a time. The man said they will hold up on any kind of denial until they can get our forms and get the parties to send them information by fax. Please pray as they both need it so badly.

I too like to use Ground Turkey breast in a lot of things. And since you mentioned it I will get some today as have a yen for some turkey meatloaf and on sale at Publix this week.

Dot so happy you had such a loving and good Birthday.

Frances, glad you are having a good day!

Hope the snow goes soon for those who have it.

Hugs all,
Lee

Good Morning All. . .

Just had a session with my server - have been getting e-mail notifications (8) telling me my e-mail hadn't gone through and all the addresses were in the U.K. She said these are sometimes gotten randomly. But, anyway, it's all cleared up now.

Frances - thank you so much for your very kind concern about Carl, my ex. I sure learned a lot talking to his wife on the phone. I phoned the hospital last night and got his extension so I can phone him later today. But the nurse didn't give me much information. His wife didn't get much either when she talked to the surgeon - just that it was very hard getting through. Whatever that means.

Funny/strange thing - Yesterday, I opened up an envelope from The Monastery of Mount Carmel Society of the Little Flower (St. Therese, the little flower) and inside was this beautiful deep red rosary.
On the packet you can slip the rosary in was the name Walter, my dh. It was like telling me "Don't forget me"! Course that is just my sense of humour at this time. So I will send them a donation. Just love the rosary!

Really feel for you Camey and for all that are living in snow country. WOW! .2 this morning. We had 45* when I got up a little while ago. north of us they had frost...showed some picturess.
Every once in a while it does get really cold here. But snow..that is very rare and doesn't. Stick. Think i can remember just two or maybe three times have I seen snow here. Hope you get dug out real soon. Praying that the power will stay on.

Have errands to do today and also want to make more soups...so had better get with it.

80 degrees in OK City???? How can that be? Not fair!

I use ground turkey exclusively; chicken-apple breakfast sausages or JD's Turkey Sausages. Almost never have bacon. Use lots of spices and seldom salt in anything I make. Lots of beans, veggies, salads,

But, Panera is my downfall. They make great salads, bean soup....but the pastries kill me...no will power when faced with a freshly toasted bagel with cream cheese, hot sticky bun, cinnamon roll...you get the picture.

Chemo has got to be a real bear to experience. I've seen so many folks on chemo and I do not ever want to experience that. You folks who are care-givers are real angels.

Good brainstorming session at lunch with AARP counterparts. I have contacted a local Director of Health and Wellness at our medical center....we're going to lunch very soon to see what programs the center is providing for the community and to see how AARP can assist and support. NC Legislature continues to toy with the idea of expanding Medicaid in the state. Lots of financial pros and cons on this argument, I know. But I come down on the side of the elderly who need medical resources and don't have the financial means.

It is 29 degrees outside; the morning paper was frosty and crackled when I opened it. Jax doesn't care; he is ready to go for a walk and is pestering me. He recognizes that I have finished breakfast, my coffee and the crossword puzzle. I'm posting on Spark People and that means: brush my teeth, take my pills, and get dressed for the walk.

Deanna is much improved. Thank goodness.

Take care of yourselves. Be active. Work the muscles and the brains. See you all tomorrow.

Morning everyone. Awoke to -2 this morning. Burr but sun is out and may go to 30 later.
I am washing clothes before we get more snow tonight into Friday morning. Then a Northeaster is heading for Maine and could hit us on a backlatch, so they are telling us. Hard to believe them because they didn't do too well on the big storm with the winds. The Cape got the worst. Hope for the best and know another storm coming for Valentine Day.

I did all my exercise by my bike. I have to have breakfast and make out a grocery list before the storm tonight. Hope it is just a little as we are still digging out.

Been watching Tuner Classics, Night and Day, Gary Grant, To Sir with Love, Potter, You were never so lovely, Fred Astaire, Top Hat, Fred Astaire, Look who's coming to Dinner, Potter, so many good ones. I have forgotten them as I saw them years ago.

Did yu see the commercial ad about the dog and the horses and when the dog came home after being lost they sold it, only a ad for supper bowl, but a lot of people did not like it and it is on the talk show and that part of the ad was pulled.

Well, I better get going as he wants to get started on grocery shopping early.
