Oh my Mattie Sue.....be careful being a "street walker"....

been so tired since my sleepless night Wednesday night with the storms....I did get outside for a few minutes today and trimmed some trees and cut back some of the hedge..

Been sleeping a lot and laying around reading...have 4 books to read to be sure they are appropriate for our church library..

been listening to crying and screaming most of the day...one or the other of the girls have been either crying or screaming nearly all day.........sure gets nerve wracking and tiring...Nala (16 months old) is bellering again right now........UGH!!!!

What a sensational, wonderful day! I sat over coffee with my daughter this morning, then let my friends lure me out - even though I'd planned to sew all day - and we had a wonderful time. Got home around 2 p.m. and turned on the "oldies," cranked up the music, and sang along while I got busy on the quilt hanging - completed one panel and worked a bit on the second. Then my NY grands sent me pictures and texts from the beach, with promises to talk tomorrow. This evening, I tried to teach Kilean to skip - and Oh how I wish I had a video of that to share with you (Not me. Him) It was so funny! Now, I am going to get my audiobook and knitting and spend an hour or two settling.

Mattie, serve your husband the same foods you would serve a toddler learning to self-feed: anything that can be picked up with your fingers. You can help him by cutting his food into bite-sized portions, sandwiches in quarters, etc. Lots of foods you normally eat with a fork can be eaten "by hand." Just ask me - Kilean is self-feeding these days and I'm remembering what I learned 30+ years ago - LOL.

Camey, when they come up with a bionic brain, I'm volunteering!!

Doris, good deal on the Gevalia! And it's wonderful your daughter is now well enough to go fishing and enjoy her life again. emoticon

Mary Lou, those good fairies have been neglecting my house, too! Not only that, but I suspect the little people are coming in and messing things up, hiding things, etc. when I'm not looking. Most annoying! emoticon It sounds like you're having lots of fun, though, and that's terrific. I'm happy for your sister too - I think we're like her flowers; we blossom when we're cared for by others, don't you agree?

Barbara, poor poor Simba! I hope the vet can help him quickly. It's so hard to see an animal suffering when they don't understand what's happening.

Lee, yay for sleeping in! We all need that once in a while.

Leona, are you embroidering the pillowcases? Sometimes, Bed Bath and Beyond has pillows BOGO - I got some Laura Ashley pillows that way and they are lovely.

Betty, you are a wonder! Pictures of the gossip bench, please. I'll also take a piece of that apple fritter bread if you can email it. emoticon

Maureen, that OMS is a good deal. I remember, when I first moved to Toronto, being surprised that Canada Post was in drugstores and retail shops, etc. Now USPS is talking about doing the same.

Have a wonderful, wonderful time at the beach, Dot!

Goodness, here I am babbling away again! My knitting is whispering in my ear.

Have a lovely night.

Peedle happy for you.

Thanks Lee...Still have a burn when I go but then it goes away. He doesn't know why. Think it got inflamed and red with the infection and has to work its' way out.

Walked 45 min and did bike for 60, but seems my knee is starting to give me problems and I have a kink in the groin. My gf did and had a hip replacement. When I had talked to the doc he told me when it starts in the hip then it is time. I went 4 years ago and he said there was arthritis there and it was wearing. So who knows what will be next. It is a mystery. Have to wait and see. Well, when I go to Heaven I will be all bionic. LOL

Hello,
Oh, Mary Lou, such good news for you..I hope your next visit will find it even better..You are a fighter..

I am just here for a few moments to say that I did get my flu shot last Sunday at CVS and had a card for five dollars to spend in the store on that day for anything they sold..It was great and I bought Gevilia coffee for that because it was on sale and if I bought two, I got a four dollar saving and so, can you believe, each bag of coffee came to only four dollars per bag., which became a twelve dollar saving, delightful...

I do love a bargain..

I will find something worthwhile to say next time..This is just prattle..

.My daughter in Wisconsin is planning her fishing vacation there at a nice resort starting next Friday for 12 days..I am so hoping that all will go well. She loves to fish at the lake there with her husband. I just had an e-mail from her. She is the one who had Pneumonia so seriously this spring and into summer.

Off to get something accomplished..I am having a lazy day here... Love and good wishes for the weekend. Doris. emoticon

It's Saturday and I have a list a mile long of things to do. Hah! As if I will get even half of them done. First day I have had at home since last Saturday, so what can I expect? I waited and waited for the good fairies to come and do my housework, but they didn't show up. Isn't it terrible that you can't depend on the good fairies any more??

Good news.....prayers do work! (which we already knew). My lung cat-scan yesterday showed one of the nodules is slightly DECREASED in size and the other has not changed.

Afterward, I went out with the Golden Girls and had a wonderful Chinese buffet, then went shopping. I bought a pair of shoes I just love, but they are a little big, so I don't know if putting the little curved foam pads in the heel will take care of that or not. They were on the clearance rack for $9.99....I could hardly believe my eyes. Only pair they had that I really wanted, and they didn't have them in a half-size smaller, which is what I probably need.

I came home aching and tired, but it was a good tired. Only problem is I awoke at 4:30 this morning and got started playing Words with Friends on the I-Pad and ended up not going back to sleep. Will undoubtedly doze off while doing my bible study homework. Or when I read the paper. Sitting still and reading when I am tired is almost a guarantee of dropping off. Oh, well, I refuse to feel guilty. It is just one of the pleasures of old age, and Heaven knows, we need as many pleasures as we can grasp. Right?

I read the posts and it seems we are all a busy, busy bunch and I think that is what keeps us young. Even tho we could be considered old in years, we are young at heart.

Another milestone reached with my sister: She is now getting into flowers besides a couple of plants her dd had put out for her, but they died out. She actually bought some double-rose moss seeds and planted them in a pot and was so pleased with them that she is planning for next year. She had never planted flowers from seeds (hard to believe!) and I think she was amazed at how simple it is. And she has bought 2 or 3 potted mums. Her attitude is much improved from what it used to be. Sr. center and being with people, plus some kind of interest besides TV and puzzles is making a good change in her.

She will be coming here this Wednesday, so I am doing my usual....cleaning, planning meals, making shopping list etc.

So as much as I would like to just sit here at the 'puter, I guess I had better get with it; at least for a little while. I work in spurts.

Playing catchup again. It takes a while. You girls are chit chatters.

Little Simba is back at the animal hospital for the weekend. They can't seem to make his pain go away. We went to see him and he is really out of it. I think he was glad to see us. I put food on my finger and he ate a little. Very little. We was getting agitated so they took him back. $1600 later and he is the same. No improvement.

Between DH and the dog I don't know who to worry about.

Well the other two dogs are sitting there staring at me. The want me to take them for a walk.
Seems I don't have a life of my own.

DD has lost 18lbs on her new diet. I have been on WW for the same amount of time and I have lost 7 lbs. I don't think her diet is that healthy at lest she is under a doctors care.

Guess I am going for a walk.

Hugs Barbara

Hi all:

I slept late this a.m. and it sure felt good!

Camey glad you no longer have the bladder infection.

Mattie Sue hope today is a better one.

Betty I know you are looking forward to seeing the rest of the family. My goodness you probably did all that while I was still sleeping.

Oh dear Frances I should have know you wouldn't have subjected to little Kilean to child abuse of walking 5 miles. Or...have had him get out and push you. Bet he would have if he could have.

Leona, I got my flu shot over a week ago and it will soon be effective.

Maureen I am thinking you have quite a big following with your Avon business. Good for you.
They like you and your service and they stick.

Mary Lou, you have such a great attitude with the constant pain you have.

Oh Doris I am so glad your son found a Dr. he is comfortable with. Caring compassion goes a long way and hope he can find a way to help.

Looks like rain and I had planned to run to store, but it can wait.

Have a good Saturday.
Hugs all,
Lee

Happy Feet, I get heartburn from Juice, fruit, sauces, coffee, tea, tonic, etc.

Traveling Mama, I not only had fun but with all the walking and then doing my bike and walking up my street and back, I lost a lb. yea. The man had done that once before with half price. It could be because we are seniors.

Good morning all.

Busy group and lots of walkers. emoticon

Yesterday I got an email from a close friend. They both have the flu and he was in the hospital. Reminder to get the shot.

Almost finished with 4 pillowcases for my son and his daughters. For the great grandsons, my son suggested I get pillows for them also. He said he found some at Walmart for only $2.50. I have 2 of my kids that say their dishtowels are worn out so I may start dishtowels for all of them. Mine are also very thin.

Getting colder and the trees are changing fast. Time to bring in the pontoon and get the plants brought inside. I already have some inside.

Need to get busy.
Have a good day and take care.
Leona emoticon

Here I am . Late as usual. Dot have a safe trip and enjoy the beach. Will be looking for you back. Frances , Avon Canada has a contract with a Company called OMS and they charge us a mini amount for the deliveries no matter how many boxes. If I have to return stuff when it has to be exchanged to suit the customer the fee is $5.00 . Before the changes I used to have to send it by Canada Post and depending on the weight could be anywhere from $10. to $15.00
This way is really good.
I know about living where there is always a hill to climb to get home as our town has lots of hills too. Well it is late so will say Good night and God Bless emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

5.62 miles again this afternoon plus running around the playground. Kilean sneaked in a second nap on the way home, but there was no one to push me so I had to stay awake. LOL. And I say again: never live at the highest point in town - no matter the views! Wherever you go, you will always be climbing hills to get back home. emoticon emoticon
I did get some knitting done during naptime (the first one), but my focus for the weekend is going to be on the quilt. I'd like to finish it, but it'll be another week, I think.

Camey, glad the infection is gone. It sounds like you had a fun day with the fair and lunch out. That man was nice to give you the discount.

Doris, good job walking for 2 hours in the market! Sounds like you'll have a fine table - both gastonomically and visually - for your group.

Mattie, sorry you had a bad day. I'm sure tomorrow will be better.

Lee, I'm the one who should have strong legs. Kilean just rides in the stroller - at least when we go long distances. And yet, he can outrun me any day! LOL

Nas, I hope the parties were fun and worth sitting in traffic.

Marlene, enjoy the retreat!

Leona and Jean, good to see your posts even when you're busy.

Betty, have fun with your family tomorrow!

Mary Lou, you are sharp! (and funny).

Wow, Maureen, UPS must love you at this time of year!

Going out with friends this evening, so I need to go comb my hair. Have a pleasant evening and a restful night.

Whew!!! I was here on the 17th and cannot believe how very much you girls have written since..

I scanned all of the posts since then but truly could not read them all for full content..
It was a busy day for me here..

I used a cart and walked in the supermarket for a total of two full hours. This is the way my doctor says that I should exercise and so was happy with myself although I will say I bought too many 'special ' foodstuffs that way. I am having our writers monthly critique here at my home on next Thursday evening and so was choosing many interesting items for that. I do plan to have a caramel topped NY style cheesecake and lots of dips and chips etc plus many fruits etc. I found a Pie Pumpkin for the centerpiece for the table. It is so sweet, just the right size for the decoration.
I do always buy fresh flowers for this group too.

My son saw the neurologist this morning and he prescribed a pain medication for his headaches...the first doctor to do so... and will be giving him an EEG on Tuesday for the small lapses in his mind that he has experienced..Finally perhaps we are on the right track...Carlos seems to like these new physicians and that is most of the trials of hurting so.very much, the confidence that someone really cares..

I do have to go now as I again have worked at this computer overlong...

Good wishes to everyone...I will try to get back tomorrow.. My best and emoticon Doris ..

Good news for a change. The bladder infection is gone. I asked the doc why I still have a slight burn and he couldn;t give me an answer. Maybe it has to work its' way out. Do feel way better than before. Drinking lots of water.

Tired as we went to the fair at the sr. center and came home with pencils, pens, pads of paper, shopping bags, stuff for your hands to moisten or keep bad stuff away. Pads to open jars, articles to hold in had for arthritis and grip, etc. Then we went and used the coupon for half price on one and the owner told us he would give us half price and to save the coupon for another day, so we lucked out there. When I got home did 60 on bike, 40 and went back later for another 20 and then walk up and down the street, and laid down to relax.

When our lunch came we got two big pieces of salmon, broccoli and I had rice and the places were big with toasted bread and butter. It was only 24 dollars and you did not have to tip he said. You pay and they bring the food out to you. It is a small restaurant. Now, next week will call for therapy apt. Probably two days a week for 8 weeks. End of month have eye apt for membrane with reg eye doc. He is going to use a machine to check something. Still only half has come back in the right eye, but can see with two.

Hi all:

I think I accomplished some things today. Made a good start in clearing out dresser drawers and tossing and rearranging. I have a dresser and chest in my room and a double dresser in the guest room. Things accumulate.

Martha. I think you are a brave soul using a chain saw. Nope not I said this little red hen.

5 miles wow Frances. You and Kilean will have the strongest legs in town.

Sue, no wonder you are tired. We hope you and ailing foot can get some rest.

Missed you Jean. Nice you were doing good works.

Dot I do hope the weather cooperates and you and your sister can have a peaceful time even if just watching the ocean. You will be missed.

I am on a roll so will get back to the drawers.

Mickey what are your weekend plans. You usually do such interesting things.

Marlene I hope the retreat is all you expect it to be and you come back rested.

Mattie Sue, you are always busy!! Fix your Dh's arm and then chill out.

Hugs all,
Lee

I don't mind at all having my leg/foot passed around, just bring it back in 3 1/2 weeks.

Had a sleepless night so I was up early, showered and dressed by 7AM, now I am into the laundry. Maybe I will get a nap later.

I have not read your posts so will just say I hope everyone is well and healthy. I shall be back when things slow down some.

Frances I make a stir fry of pasta, broccoli, mushrooms, onion and chicken Perdue and I use basil, oregano and paisley and sometimes, I put gravy over it and grated cheese.

Well, only going to 59 today. The house is warm at 7l, whereas before installation I had heat on. So guess it is working. The seniors have a health fair and we may go and then have lunch out as we have a half off coupon.

I sent the story out again and have not heard from the publisher yet as to if she wants to read it yet. Started another.

Hope everyone is well. I probably won't hear on culture until Monday. Hate the though if I have to take meds again. I want this over with so I can start therapy on shoulders.

I got to Curves yesterday and than stopped at the fabric store to pick up some fabric for the gossip bench seat...today, I will attempt the paint the sunflowers on the bench. I get a massage this afternoon and tai chi this morning.

Got a heads up from my dd in NC that her dd, dh and Georgia are to be in town for a wedding and will be at my house Saturday morning for a couple of hours. So need to get busy and make a quiche and coffee cake and get the coffee pot out...It will be fun to see them and hope some of the family can come by...

Wishing you all a happy, healthy day. Smiles, Betty :)

Frances,

I'm sure Sue doesn't mind if we pass her foot around.....I suspect she'll get a 'kick' out of it!

And with that said, I will take my shower and retire (aren't you glad?)

Another busy day but only a little really accomplished..
Betty hope you get a few more dancers to keep things lively. Will be waiting to see how the gossip bench turns out.with the sunflowers on it. Mickey hope it is a safe trip and nice weather while you are there.
Frances 7 boxes are only the start as what I saw for Christmas coming in the next couple of months for Christmas shopping there will likely be more boxes in each shipment. That will keep things hopping.
I had to laugh with you at all the notes from Lee and Mary Lou. It would seem the government has to get in on everything.!!! Helen have fun reading away the weekend.
Sounds like Kilean kept you busy walking all day and up and down the stairs after his nap.
Martha were the trees damaged in a storm or just overgrown and needed trimming.??
Time to shut this down before I write a long story about nothing. Thoughts and prayers to all .Good Night and God Bless emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

My goodness it was a long day today - and very busy as always. Beautiful weather too.

Dot, it will be strange to come home to your "empty nest" but probably much easier than being there while Chris is moving. I think we enjoy our solitude much more as we get older, too - although I usually only have my "quiet times" in the late evenings, I do look forward to them.

Barbara, congratulations on breaking that barrier! emoticon It's a worry that Simba isn't getting better, isn't it? I hope your daughter will return soon.

Camey, I had a German Shepherd that jumped through the glass in a storm door when it thundered! Such big babies!! LOL. How about using veggies, garlic, herbs and oil on your pasta? I like that with shrimp or clams, too.

Lee and Mary Lou, you must have heard me laughing all the way to your homes! What a hoot you two are! Sue, I hope you don't mind us passing your foot around the countryside - LOL! emoticon

Mary Lou, you have such an active social life, I know it keeps you young! Women who maintain close female friendships always seem to be the most upbeat, I think. I know I value my women friends greatly.

Martha, I'm picturing you running amok in the woods, slashing randomly at trees with that chain saw! You surely are having a good time.

Sue, I don't think Kilean comprehends that a new baby is coming. I expect he'll be surprised when she arrives.

Enjoy your Bookworm Weekend, Helen! emoticon

We had a lovely walk today - a bit over 5 miles total, plus all the running around on the playground. Then we went out again around 4:00 to walk up and down the 27 steps in front of our house - several times - whew! I did get to knit through Kilean's naptime and for about an hour this evening.

As soon as she finished work, my daughter baked a batch of peanut butter cookies, so that will offset any calories I burned. LOL. Oh - and apparently, the calendar I checked for the full moon was incorrect. We already had September's moon! The full moon for October is on the 8th - 3 weeks away. That would put her almost exactly at her 40 week mark and it's also one day after my oldest granddaughter's birthday. Well, I guess she'll arrive when she's good and ready!

Time for "Project Runway" - and a little more knitting. Have a wonderful night!

Could do with one of those rolls right now Mattie. What kind of rolls are they I presume sweet of some kind since you are eating them as a snack.

Last week I made some Banana Bread with Barley Flour which I can have on my Oxalate diet. It was really good. But I gained a pound by eating the whole loaf in about four days. So won't do that very often.

Mary Lou so good to see you posting. Thank goodness Chris and I get along fine. He does allow me to Mother him...he never does what I suggest but he always acts like he is listening. I am glad he will be moving this weekend while I am at the beach. It will seem strange coming home to an empty house but I am sure I will get used to it very quickly.

I am almost packed. Tired now and ready to call it quits for the night.
Have a good restful night.
Hugs and Blessings,

Get the coffee on the last one is in the oven as we speak. I waved my magic wand over them and no calories . How is that for a late evening snack You would not believe how many times having one in the freezer saved my bacon , A pop in that I had not seen in a long time not once but several times ,
I have got to let this last one cool a bit and will finish them tomorrow .
I got a good bit done today no kidding and have hair in the morning and something else can not remember what will take a look at my trusty list,

Frances, I remember my other GS who tried to climb the tree after the squirrel and hurt his paw and he cried.

Alfredo sauce is bad for cholesterol. I had mine checked and I am 200 for main number, 55 for HDL, l30 for LDL and l70 for Trig, so need to get my trigs down. I like to put grated cheese on it and then again too much a cholesterol thing. I do not want to go on satins.

Call doc today on bladder infec and he sent me to lab to be checked. Probably won't hear till Monday. I think it is a lot better and maybe has to take some time to go. I remember a doc telling me after you take the last pill the medication stays in your system for a week working, so we will see.

Tomorrow senior club has the health fair so may go with dh and then have lunch with a cupon we got out of the paper, half off one entrée.

Lee,
And I'm just weird enough to go along for the ride, whether with you or with Frances!! Love crazy, imaginative chatter sometimes.

Mickey,
Glad you had a good trip. Yes, I'm sure Thursday traffic would be lighter than Friday's.

Still haven't gotten that bite to eat; too nosy.
Guess I had better go eat before I faint from hunger.

Hi everyone - one of our easier rides up to NH. I'm thinking we should come up on Thurs. more often - traffic was lighter than when we come on Fridays.

We are going with our DGS (8th grade) to his school tomorrow for Grandparents' Day. Breakfast is at 8 a.m. and then we go to three of his classes with him: Science, Geometry and Justice - should be interesting!

Sounds like everyone is doing okay - even with the aches and pains, etc.
Martha - welcome - I've been lax about getting on line every day - but welcome aboard.
Careful with that chainsaw!

Take care.

Oh no not my idea Mary Lou. It was Frances who told Sue maybe she could sit with Sue's foot while knitting. I just couldn't resist picking up the ball and running with it. Wild imagination.

Mattie Sue,

I smell those rolls. Hmmmm.....wish I had one right now!

Mani, it's wonderful that you are able to go for walks with your dh. You are an inspiration to me and all the others. With your traction and other setbacks, you just keep pushing onward and we never hear a complaint from you. I admire you, as I'm sure we all do.

Dot, I'm sure you are very happy to have your home back to yourself. As much as we love our kids, it must be very hard to share a home after becoming accustomed to living alone.
And yet, everyone of us would do the same if needed.

Jean, it is so good to have you back with us. You were missed so much.

And Ethel.....what can I say? You surely have bounced back wonderfully since you can ride the way you do. Good for you! It must be that as the mother of eight, you only know one credo...."Keep on keepin' on".

MaryB, just as soon as you feel up to it, rejoin us as you are always welcome. You have a period of adjustment to make, and maybe, just maybe, being here with us may be of some help.

And Wilma, I hope you are doing okay, and will rejoin us regularly as soon as you feel like it.
You were a member when I first started, in 2008, so I remember you well.

Time to fix a bite to eat.

Mary Lou

Just dropped in for a minute or two, and I must say I am interested in the 'foot-sitting'.
Please let me know what you find out after you inquire about the legal requirements
as I would consider starting up a foot-sitting business. I could do it while crocheting or bible-studying or even card-making and bring in a few extra bucks.
Sounds like a winner to me, but I must find out if you advertise? If so, in local papers: on community bulletin boards? I guess when it gets going, you could set up a web-site. Let me know,
Lee, you do have the best ideas.
In the meantime, I will just keep busy lurking and running around, as I seem to do that best.
I started my second exercise class and it is maybe more than my legs and back will tolerate, but not ready to say "quit" just yet. Maybe I will get stronger and after all, that is the purpose, isn't it?
Tomorrow is chest scan (say a little prayer that spots haven't changed and that there aren't more of them) and then meet the "Golden Girls" for lunch out. Name is not too original, is it? But it doesn't matter. Just a bunch of oldies but goodies getting together for a bite to eat and some good old girlie chatter.
My sister is coming next week, and I just don't know when I will find time to get ready for her visit. And I MUST get a special card made for my dd's birthday which is next week, too.
So much to do and so little time to do it in! (It would help if I would just stay home).
So better get busy right now, tho it's much more fun to stay on the computer than do housework.

Hi all.

We never did get the rain yesterday or today yet. fine with me as I plan on going out to clean the outside of my dryer vent and it gets pretty yucky there.

Enjoyed Bible study this a..m. then did an errand and went to the Hospice meeting. So nice.
I did have a half Panera turkey sierra sandwich and just a bit of harvest salad. Calories high but sodium even higher and betting I went over my quota. Nice presentation of new information
and enjoyed seeing so many people. They will be starting up the Speaker Bureau for Hospice to get information to the public and asked if I'd like to join. I said you bettcha.

I have your sister in my prayers for her tests Dot, and of course Chris.

Maureen thanks for your prayers.

I missed that interview on Kelly files, Leona. So sad.

Frances keeping your daughter and baby in prayer. Now as for the Foot sitting license, I am not sure but would assume you would have to go through the Federal , State and Local govt'. pay an annual foot sitting fee and of course if in your home the health dept must be notified (for a fee of course). Oh and have you applied for your in home knitting tax? emoticon

Good for Vicki, Mattie Sue. Nice too that you can got together in the evening to the gym.

Out to the dryer vent I go, before I change my mind. Will be waddling with all that food still in me.

Hugs all,
Lee

I'm just gliding through to let you know I may not be here for a few days - up to my elbows in books to read.

Right now, I can't put down Gail Sheehy's DARING - A memoir - My Passages. It's riveting and fills the gaps other books may have only hinted at, or maybe I just never got the full story. I'm sorry I never gave her the credit she deserved as a writer - and I certainly didn't know all about her life and her writing history in New York City. Wow, wow, wow! That's all I can say and I haven't even gotten to the middle of the book yet.

Have a great weekend everyone! I know I will. . .!

Good morning! Kilean was up an hour early this morning, so our day is already in full swing (with grandma gulping coffee as quickly as she can).

Yes Maureen, many women start "nesting" as they go into labor - cleaning and cooking like crazy - and it looks like that may be what's happening here. Christina says she's probably just bored with being restricted, but she had a very good check up and the baby is over 6 lbs now, so it should be soon. Wow - 7 Avon cartons?! You must feel like it's Christmas already.

Lee, you cracked me up - where do I apply for a "foot permit?"!!

Doris, I'm glad you had fun Googling your old home. I once spent an entire evening "wandering" the byways around the little Irish village where my ancestors originated.

Camey, German Shepherds are notorious "big babies" - not all breeds react so strongly. At least you won't have to go through that again until March. Have you tried using Alfredo sauce on your pasta? It's very easy to make and no acidic tomatoes.

Mattie, good luck with your grill. I don't think I've used one since the hibachi of tent-camping days, but my son and son-in-law are both very particular about theirs. I guess it's an "art form."

Happy knitting, Sue!

Dot, your beach vacation sounds divine! The Gulf is such an interesting area (I saw my first pelican there).

Glad Simba is improving Barbara. That is a lot of work for you.

Betty, how lovely the guild is making baby quilts. I imagine there are strict specifications for construction, but such a valuable gift.

Mickey, have fun in New Hampshire. Are the grands performing this time?

Mani, I'm sorry to hear the traction is so painful. Hopefully, you're feeling better today.

I have babbled on far too long (as usual), and Kilean is ready to go out. Another slug - or two - of coffee and I'll be on my way. Today, we're heading for the "big" playground, which is about a 5 mile walk. Since my daughter is certain she won't be going into labor quite yet, I think we'll be okay. LOL.

Have a wonderful day!

Barbara as much as I love dogs believe me I did not want another at my age, but dh wanted someone to walk with as I can not walk the distance with him. I had 8 dogs and 3 cats in my lifetime and that is plenty.

Mani Hailey is back to normal as had to give her a buffin last night as she hurt her back rolling on the pavement and cut above her eyelash. She bad anxiety when we go to the vet and yet when she comes out she is fine, as if nothing happened. I think she remembers them holding her down and she hates anyone touching her feet. I dread March when we have to take her again for her shorts and her x ray for arthritis. As for the furniture, we have comforters on them and Hailey is enjoying sleeping there. LOL

Well, it was 49 this morning but with the installation we had put in we did not need to put the furnace on. Usually, I would have it on by now.

I think the infec is a bit better but going to call doc to see if he will let me take another culture to see if it is gone. i don't want to have to take more meds if it is and on its' way out.

Washing again and will do towels tomorrow. We are going to 70 today but getting a frost tonight so may have to put heat on. Will see what happens and if cold will get up and put it on.

Yesterday didn't know what to do with left over hamburg so decided to make rice and mix with tomato sauce and cheese. Well well, as he did not complain but where I can not have sauce for heartburn, I just had everything else, but.

We need to go grocery shopping. I am hoping this weekend dh can put the other rod up so I can finished putting up the drapes in the living room.

Good evening....

Missed posting here yesterday...as it was a trying day. Was laid up in bed with traction - 4 hours a week and then it takes a good 2 to 3 hours for the sore calves to heal before I can even hobble and actually Bengay or Voltaren gel, needs to be rubbed in at east twice till I can get back to normal. Then DH was upset as I couldn't walk with him because for the sore calves and was a while before I could placate him and get him to take his evening walk with our nurse and our great-great-grands.

Have realised that I have missed on quite a bit, will try catching up....

Lee great news on the Podiatrist....indeed happy feet are here again

Sue, your doc sure has a sense of humour...so are you following doctor's orders... I am sure Frances will be of real inspiration.

Doris, loved reading about your '45 Chicago visit....'those were the days....' Thank you for sharing.

Camey enjoy your new furniture....and wishing you many many good days. So sorry to hear about Haley...

Mickey that news on high BP connected to better mental acuity is very reassuring....I also believe my doc always telling me as we age it is better to have a higher reading in your BP rather than lower. My GP s pretty OK even when my BP reads 160/80, they go by the lower reading plus your age...so soon my BP might be ok with 180/90 too...

Nora cheers to the BP and keep the crosswords and puzzles going...Glad you have your DD to look after you in NZ take care and have fun.

Frances enjoy the baking with the DD & hope the dear girl realises that she needs to take it easy....

Well I know I have a lot to catch up on....have read all your posts and keeping all of you in my thoughts & prayers, DH is getting impatient for his evening walk....gotta go...

Have a great Thursday....

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings
Mani

Just a quick good morning before we leave for NH. It looks like a nice day - sunny but not too warm.

Had leftovers last might - so the refrigerator id empty - have a couple of things in the freezer for the night we return. A friend of mine gave me some chili that had pumpkin in it - DH asked if I got the recipe too - it was very good.

Frances - hope this baby arrives soon and that everything is good!

Betty - glad you enjoyed your tap dance session and that the knee was ok.

Time to lock down the computer and my desk - take care.

Just stoping by to say Hi...it has been a busy time....We had the quilt guild yesterday and a lot of busyness there...The nurse from the baby nursery came to talk to us about what they do with the quilts and how that want them made...it was very helpful...I got all the black coats of paint on the gossip bench and now I have to decide how to decorate it...I want to use a sunflower theme.

Tap class started Tuesday and all went well, although there were only three of us there...hopefullly we will pick up a few more gals.

Hope all is well with everyone. Smiles, Betty :)

Stopped in to say Goodnight before I settle down to read a while. Want to finish the couple of books I have on my Nook and then will be able to download a few books from the library to take with me to the beach on Saturday. I do enjoy browsing at the library. I got two pretty good "Who Done Its" this last time. Hopefully this time I hope to find some Novels that have a little meat in the story....

It rained and not much sunshine so looking forward to tomorrow and seeing the sun again. It was so dreary today and I got very little accomplished. Tomorrow I have to get myself up and going. Do some errands and decide what clothes I am taking.

Have a good nights rest. God Bless.
Hugs,
Dot

Camey I am so glad I don't have a big dog. I used to have 2 dalmatians. I have slid across the lawn on my belly several times. They would pull me over and away we went.

Little Simba I think is doing a little better. He got another shot for pain today. Yesterday he could not lay down at all today I put him in his cage and he took a nap. He is starting to eat. Very little but eating and drinking. He has not gone to the bathroom room since the 12th. My DD is so happy when see saw him do that. He is starting to run away. He does not want to be with us. I have to take him on a leash if we go out. He ran up the hill today I had to run after him and carry him back home. He is heavy. 12 1/2 lbs. He snapped at me when I picked him up. He must be in awful pain.

I did exercises took Buttercup for a walk and mowed the lawn. I am bushed. It hard on your legs and shoulders. It was beautiful outside. Never looked to see how warm it was. Wish I had more energy so I could do more yard work. Got to get at my garden and clean it up for the winter.

Tomorrow we have 3 doctor appointments. There goes the morning.

Well that's my fun day. You all take care and have a good evening.

My gosh you are computer wizes. I don't even know what you are talking about.

Some good advice.

Crimeware

Disconnect

If you're a victim of a crimeware attack you should disconnect from the Internet immediately. If you're connected via Wi-Fi, phone or Ethernet cable, you need to disable the connection as soon as possible to prevent data being transmitted to the criminal. Breaking your network connection is the best way to put an immediate stop to the attack.

You can disconnect your Internet connection by physically unplugging from the router or network connection and also disable the connection on your PC via the following the steps:
•Click on the Start menu
•Click on 'Settings'
•In the settings menu select 'Network Connections'
•Right-click and select the 'Disable' option.

If an attack takes place while you are at work, you should contact the IT department immediately. Your company's IT team needs to know about the infection to stop it spreading or compromising your personal data and that of the company. Your IT department will then be able to take the right steps to recover the damage caused.

If an attack takes place on your personal or home PC, you should contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Scan your PC

It's good practice to have antivirus software, such as Norton™ AntiVirus or Norton™ Internet Security, installed and up-to-date in case this kind of incident occurs. Antivirus and antispyware software are the best tools to protect against crimeware.

As well as being able to detect crimeware threats from your PC, which might otherwise go unnoticed, antivirus and antispyware programs can often remove the threats as well.

In some instances, the software may detect the crimeware but might not be able to remove it. In this case, you can consult Symantec's removal tool listings to see if there's a separate tool which can be downloaded to remove the threat.

Create a backup

It's good practice to create regular backups of your files and folders. While the aim of crimeware is largely to steal information or data, there's a good chance that files may be lost or destroyed during the recovery process.

You can make backups by using backup software, using another hard drive or removable media such as a CD, DVD or flash drive.

Reinstall your operating system

Depending on the severity of the attack, it might be necessary to reinstall the operating system of your computer. Some threats are very sophisticated and can hide deep in the system using rootkit techniques, meaning they'll go unnoticed by antivirus software.

Software such as Symantec™ System Recovery 2013 can return your system to its last stable state before the infection took place. In other situations, the date of infection might not be known, and more sensitive data might be put at risk. In this case, the safest option might be to recover your files and reinstall your operating system.

Online fraud

Close all accounts

If you find that you are the victim of online fraud or identity theft, the first thing you should do is close all affected accounts immediately. If you work quickly, you should be able to close accounts before the thief has time to access them.

Spending this time closing or freezing your accounts can save you a lot of time and stress later when it comes to disputing fraudulent purchases made by a cybercriminal. Its always a good idea to contact the financial institution and discuss the impact an attack would have on your accounts and what the necessary steps are to take if the account has been compromised.

Set up fraud alerts

Set up a fraud alert with the three national consumer reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion). Contacting just one of these companies will set up the alert for all three. The fraud alert will tell creditors to contact you directly before making any changes to existing accounts or allowing you (or someone using your identity) to open up new ones.

This is an essential step to control the amount of damage an identity thief can do with your stolen information. This step also allows you to order your credit reports from each of the agencies for free.

Keep an eye on your credit reports

Keep an eye on your credit reports from each of these agencies as the information in the reports might differ somewhat. It might take some time for fraudulent activity to appear on your reports, which is why some agencies offer all-in-one reports or just-in-time alerting services for an additional fee.

In some cases, it might be worth considering one of these quick turn-around reports, depending on the level of threat and the potential impact.

Look for signs of identity theft

It's a good idea to be extra vigilant following an incident of identity theft. Look out for things arriving in the post such as credit cards you haven't applied for, or anything else that seems suspicious. You should also make sure that you're receiving all your utility and other bills that are sent to your home address. In some circumstances, you might be contacted by vendors regarding accounts you haven't opened or debt collectors may contact you regarding purchases made by someone else.

Taking precautions

Security risks online are common and can cause massive amounts of damage when an attack takes place. While we can't control the actions of cybercriminals, we can take the necessary steps to protect ourselves and minimise the risk of becoming a victim of cybercrime by installing good Internet security software, backing up our data and being vigilant.

The vet did give us one to give her before she came but it didn't work till we came back.
She, for some reason, is hard to sedate. When she has her x ray in March for her hips then she will get gas and hope that will sedate her.

Hello
I just wrote a long message to you all about the nice lunch I had with Helen and about my husband's and my great vacations over the years in Florida. Right then my daughter called in the midst of it and I lost it all .She is in California and we talked quite a while..I looked up and it had disappeared.

Just know I am here and busy at the computer and should not stay much longer and so I will save all my thoughts for tomorrow...

Be happy, there is no other way!!! Doris emoticon

Camey poor animal having to go through all that anxiety to have her nails clipped. I am surprised the Vet did not give her a tranquilizer....then of course you would have had to carry her out and that would not have been possible I guess. You do have your problems!

Lee got up to pouring rain, high winds and turned on the weather news in case we were having some really bad weather. No...it has just been raining on and off all morning. Dark and dreary no sun..70% rain today. Tomorrow will expect our sun to be back 30% chance of some rain.

Doris so glad you tried the Google maps and found the Tampa location was still in good shape. I enjoyed your story of your day trip to Clearwater....it was a sleepy little village when I first saw it in 1955. I thought I was in Paradise..the beaches were so beautiful. We fell in love with the area and moved here in October of 1956 with our two boys. I soon realized I was expecting another baby and my daughter put in her appearance in July 1957. Over the years the sleepy villages and townships have grown and more and more people fell in love and came, so did the developers. But whenever I cross the bridges, I still know I am living in Paradise. I am looking forward to my week at the beach and traveling over those bridges and watching the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. I am still so glad we settled here.

Frances, Chris has been moving some of his stuff into the apartment after work each day, this pass week and will be moving in over the weekend. It will seem strange to come home from the beach to find him gone. But it is good and actually I am looking forward to having my home to myself once again. I don't think I will be doing any knitting while I am away...walking the beach and chatting with all the people we see there every year takes up our time. It really is a complete time of relaxation....I love it!

Sue so happy everything is going well with you and that you are getting around so well. Your in my prayers.

Nora do have a good time at the wedding and I hope it will not be to cold for you. Be sure and take your woolies and wrap up nice and warm. God Bless you my dear.

All for now,
Hugs and Blessings to all,
Dot

Good Afternoon,

This morning started on a stormy note with thunder and pouring rain......now the sun is shining.

Not much going on today....paid some bills this morning and have an appointment to get the oil changed in the van this afternoon before going to work at the church.

Tomorrow morning is TOPS. I have all the weekly ledgers caught up from when I was in Michigan so now just have to do the August monthly report.

Meals today will be left over chili so no cooking for me..

Take care..........Elsie

Ah, Frances and Lee, what good friends you are. Watch out I may take you up on your offers.

My friend, Joyce is coming this afternoon so we will knit.

Nora, have a wonderful time away, return home relaxed and refreshed.

Camey, sounds like Hailey needs a heavy duty tranquilizer before nail cutting.

As soon as I get on the computer, DH needs it.

Lee I have one for my degenerated disc and hips and I do the same as you.

Frances, only can see the color when company come, otherwise, conforters on for Hailey. LOL

Well, we got her hails cut but what a job. She took off the muzzel and had a hard time getting it back on as she fought us. Rolled on the ground and wouldn't get up so one of the persons fromt he vet office came out with their muzzel and the 3 or us managed to get it on her and the girl took her in. She was crying and anxiety so bad. 5 people held her while they cut her nails and the vet took some blood. I told her to check the hips and sure enough she will be 7 in dec and she has arthritis starting. In March when she goes for her shorts, another hard time for us getting her in, she will have x rays on hips and remove cyst from bottom of eye.
Dh is starting and saying to get my bp up what type of dog do you want next. I hope this is the last when she goes. My other dogs lasted l4 and l5 and never had problems this early like her.
Also her eyes are starting to age the vet said too. So not sure how long we will have her.

Good morning all:

Mary Lou I think I see the problems. Will try to fix it for you and see it works. (M) got stuck in the middle of your https. will see. Nope even with your corrected link it said "server not found".
Sorry!

We are expecting a two fisted T-storm later. From east and then back at us from the west, Not sure which way first but Dot I don't know if it comes from your side or mine. Rain rain.

Frances the baby sitting of a foot does not permit pie baking if you wish to get a permit.
However, they may let you get away with the knitting. OR if you have an apron pocket, I guess it could rest there! You rock gal. (I hear Sue groaning)

Nora enjoy the wedding! So glad you are posting again.

Camey. I have a permanent handicapped license because of my back, legs and heart problems. However, I only use it when absolutely necessary as I know walking is
necessary to keep the blood flowing for all of the above. My heart rate hovers around 48 daytime, so I need to pump it up. I also realize there are so few spots and so many much worse off that need that space much more than I on the days I feel more capable of parking further away. (Sue you can use mine anytime) *G*

I gained from that meal yesterday and probably will from the one tomorrow but by Monday I will make every effort to have it back down. (starting with today) and tomorrow will try again to pass up cake emoticon

Welcome home Marian. Hope all is well.

Elsie no wonder you miss posting days. You are just too darned busy.

Speaking of busy, I'd better get off my duff.

Hugs all,
Lee

Thanks Frances for reminding me of Googling an address . Well I was surprised. The neighborhood in Tampa looks quite fine and peaceful. They have built an Interstate highway, nearby but the old trees still line the blocks of nice homes. It was like going back in a way, which we know we can never do again!

I am off in a few minutes to get dressed for the day and meet my friend for a luncheon and so will not write more until perhaps later on...

Have a good day, all...Doris emoticon

Good morning! The sun was a little late appearing, but it finally got here. If the forecast is correct, we will not see 70 for the rest of this week. Good walking weather.

Mickey, I must thank you, once again, for your help with the toolbar. After I removed it, there were still ads and pop-ups and I had to remove FOUR separate infiltrators. Then, I got a status report from my security software showing they had blocked several malware and trojan attacks over those two days! If you hadn't gotten me started removing those, I would have waited to ask my grandson or daughter-in-law, and probably would have wound up with a virus or worse! emoticon emoticon

Mani, all those appointments must be tiring, but isn't it lovely when you get "good news" at each one?!

Lee and Vahina, I noticed when I was working at the library that I would often have lower backache on the days I spent standing at the circulation desk. The days that I was walking around a lot, my back didn't bother me.

Sue, since I'm sitting and knitting, perhaps you'd like to drop off your foot to me. I could babysit (or foot-sit) while I knit and you could borrow one of mine to run around on. emoticon

Marian, I know you're "in a New York State of mind..." these days. It will be nice to get back home again.

Doris, if you go to Google and enter your old address, click on maps and then choose "street view" you can see exactly what your old neighborhood is like. I use it all the time when I'm doing genealogy and love the feature.

Barbara, I hope the doggie gets better soon.

Nora, have fun at the wedding!

Mary Lou, the Roosevelt documentary sounds really interesting. I missed the first episodes, so decided to wait and see if I can pick up the entire program at one time. Your link didn't work for me - I did type it in, but no luck.

Elsie, you are back in the swing of things, I see! Love hearing about your family dinners.

Camey, enjoy your new furniture!

Dot, how is Chris doing in his new digs?

I'm trying to get some things done around here, today - laundry, etc. - and Kilean and I will take our walk later. In the meanwhile, I'm plugging away at my knitting.

By the way, Jean, I finished "The Daring Ladies of Lowell" and did enjoy it. If you're looking for a gritty historical account, this is not it, but the author depicts the times (1830s) fairly well and her characters are light and charming. Now, I've begun "The Pearl that Broke It's Shell" which is quite astonishing (in an informative way) so far.

I'm going to celebrate the arrival of autumn by baking an apple pie. I hope each of you finds something to celebrate today, as well.

Nora I started at 47 when I had my first operation and thus since had ten all together. With each year something new is added. Now, to go back as a child and not have any would be great. LOL

Barbara you were lucky. I had some UTI but then they never came back for years and all of a sudden I get a bladder infection which I never had. Something to do with the Ecoli but I do all the right things. I know acid plays a part in it somehow as I read about it. I have a lot of acid so I can not eat sauce, coffee, tea, tonic, spices, fruit, juice, etc. otherwise I get a burn so I have been trying to stay off the stuff I love.

Well today nail day for Hailey and once she sees the street the vet is on she gets anxiety and I have to hold her and there goes my shoulder pain. Be glad when this day is over and she is all done. Then I get to do it with her shorts and nails again in March. Lucky me.

May go see the grandkids after school is out and bring them the cho marshmallows I made for them.

Sometimes you are not aware of what to open or not. Check here.

2014: The Year of Living Dangerously Online

Vicious new malware tactics require more vigilance than ever.

As you’ve probably heard, 2013 was the year of the mega breach. Cybercriminals unleashed the most damaging series of cyberattacks in history with tens of millions of data records being stolen.* Now, more than ever, you’ve got to be careful online as we face new attacks that are more vicious than ever.

To help keep you safe, we’ve listed some widespread attacks from the past year so you’ll recognize what to look for and avoid them, along with some proactive steps you can take now to better secure your computer.

•Cryptolocker: Ransomware is a new tech variation of age-old crime. Victims often see this extortion play out in the form of pop-ups or emails that relay the dire message like, “Pay up or you’ll never see your computer files again!” It’s a scheme that has likely earned the crooks tens of millions of dollars.

Here’s what to do: Don’t open executable files in your email. Even if they appear safe, delete them. Cryptolocker usually strikes through email with malware in attached zip files. Tough, up-to-date malware security is a must. Often, these are social engineered to appear as if your friends sent them or you’re helping some cause. You aren’t. You’ll only be helping crooks grow richer.

•Gameover Zeus: Also known as “Zbot,” this Trojan horse malware has infected millions of people worldwide since 2011. It’s also often delivered through email, usually as an unexpected invoice. The idea is that you’ll receive an attached bill and immediately open it, wondering what it is. In this case, it’s malware that be used for gaining access to your bank account.

Here’s what to do: Get a suspicious email with an attachment? Delete it. Many of these scams require you to take some form of action and invite the proverbial vampire into your home. Think before acting. If aren’t expected an attachment, it’s highly likely it’s malware. Should you find yourself infected, you can download a removal tool here.

•Tinder Spam: This malware derives its name from Tinder, a popular mobile app used for online matchmaking—and that makes an attractive target for cybercriminals. Its users started receiving spam that enticed victims into providing their credit card numbers. This same scam has now evolved into fake adult profiles.

Here’s what to do: Again, think before acting. As we’ve noted, the success of many cybercriminal tactics depends upon victims taking action, usually immediately. If something seems suspicious, there’s probably a good reason. Delete away and don’t look back.

•Dragonfly: Also known as “Energetic Bear,” this group of cybercriminals rely on reaching out through email with disguised malware (noticing something in common here?) and disrupt—or even take down—energy companies. This is far beyond bilking a few gullible people and shows just how vicious some of these new attacks can be.

Here’s what to do: You aren’t likely to be directly targeted by this group, but you could feel their malware effects. Remain vigilant in your online security, knowing that cybercriminals are now trying new forms of malware that are more hostile and less obvious.

Don’t let your guard down. As a rule, use strong passwords and change them every three months. And trust your gut. If something doesn’t feel right online, it probably isn’t.

Cybercriminals are changing their tactics, and that means targeting everything they can. Norton 360™ Multi-Device keeps you safe and secure on all your devices, including PCs, Macs®, iPhones, iPads, and Android smartphones and tablets. Learn more.

Busy day today; bible study, two stores, lunch, craft class and dentist.

I have been watching the Roosevelt documentaries on PBS and switching back and forth to the Cardinals game, but now time for bed. Or maybe not; Cardinals game is tied up in the tenth and I just might have to stay up a little longer to cheer them on.

Mickey, I LOVED your remarks about the BP, I reckon my mental acuity must be pretty good right now, as I have had a higher than normal (not too much though) reading for some time.
Must be all those crossword puzzles, reading, etc. that I indulge in.
Camey, join the club, I have had all those pains you mention and more, started in my early 40s which means over 40 years now I have had troubles. In a strange way, you get used to them !!!
Barbara, I can imagine how worried you are about your DD's dog, it would be doubly awful if he were to expire whilst in your care. I hope the opposite will happen, and he gets well again very soon.
Everyone, I read all your posts with interest, and feel for you all when you have troubles.
I will be away for a little over a week, going over to Christchurch for that GS's wedding I mentioned once before. My #2 DD & her DH are looking after me on the trip, and all the rest of the family will be there, so it should be good. Only trouble is, the temperatures in N.Z. have not really reached Spring yet, they are still in Winter, and I cannot tolerate the cold very well at all.
Take Care all, and I shall re-join you again in a little while.
Love from Nora.

Hi everyone-

Barbara - my DD's dog (cocka-poo) got pancreatitis last year - seems to be okay now. Hope your DD's dog gets better quickly.

Mani - just heard a report that a slightly elevated BP (like yours) is good in older people - they do not know why, but mental acuity seems to be more prevalent in those whose BP is slightly elevated.

Sue - guess your doctor's advice is: stay off the foot! That was cute though!

Dot - I'm sure my working is easier than some of you taking care of little ones! But it does keep me busy and organized and luckily my DH is also busy during the day. Both of us are happy that we don't have night meetings anymore.

Welcome home Marian - nice to be home although I'm sure you will miss your family.

This is it for now.

Mary Lou could not get it.

My DD's little dog is still sick. I feel so bad. I hope he does not die. It would be my fault. Gosh I am taking care of him again this weekend. Wish me luck guys.

Camey I have never had a urine infection. My DD's have. Don't know how come.

Sue guess you better start knitting.

Mani wishing you a wonderful Wednesday. Thanks.

DH is in trouble he moved something and can't get it back. Guess I better go help before he breaks his neck. LOL

mini good days are fun bad days are not. LOL

Well, looks like the bladder infec did not go away completely. Altho I feel better, still have burn, so going to call doc for another culture to see if how much, if any went away. There is nothing he can give me, except the same med again and what good is it if it did not do the trick the first time? We must not get discouraged, I know Mani, good vibes are the best. But bladder infec are the worst, just like UTI.

Our furniture came today and they took the old to the tune of 55 dollars, probably remake it with our frame too. Should have taken it for nothing in that case. It is hard to sit on but comfortable, you do not sink. It came with pillows but they went in the other room because of Hailey. We have it covered because of Hailey and if company comes we will uncover it.

Dh put the front window rod up and I ironed the drapes. Now, we need the other window done and then finishe the ceiling in the hall, paint the woodwork in the kitchen, and do ceiling in kitchen and bath. Wonder when that will get done?

Finally here I am..What a busy day...

Sue,, your doctor sounds as though he is the 'jolly sort' and congrats on the fact of getting into the next phase of your recovery so well..Your post sounded up beat and that is so important..Good luck for everything to go as well.

Mani , Nas and Frances, thank you for your sweet words. Yes, the birthday Mass was very moving for me but also very lovely and necessary for my spirit..

Dot, I will tell you my Clearwater story..In September of 1945, when my husband and I were sharing a delayed honeymoon, we had to live in one room basically, of a high school teacher's home although we had the opportunity to use any part of her apartment when she was teaching. She was a lovely single lady who took pity on my dear 19 year old husband of just two months while he went into McDill field each day and I wrote letters and poetry and planned his dinner.'He was waiting to be discharged and finally they gave him a month's furlough while waiting and we tried to see all the sights of Tampa on our very limited budget while we waited. One day he took me by bus to see Clearwater,.rermember it was "45 and the downtown was just a 'sleepy little village. I remember we played in the sand at the ocean shore and rode home on a bus again.
How the years have changed things. I will always remember it that way as it is ingrained in my psyche.. I was just 17 and it was sweet to be able to be with him in such a tropical place.
I had traveled from Chicago to be with him and this woman worked at the USO and while I was on my way down on the train, he was madly searching for some place for us to stay and she took pity on him when he pulled out my photo and she saw how very young I was..Her name was Ms. Manning and I still remember our address 1801 Jetton..I imagine that neighborhood has seen better days. We were only a few blocks from the water on Bayshore Drive and there was a park we could take to the end of the line that held the largest Banyan tree that I had ever seen.. Oh the sweet memories..He was discharged and we traveled back to Chicago on Halloween night to begin our new lives together..

I hope this is not boring..Just a little note from my past.

I will report on the interesting Elon lecture tomorrow. It was very good and I had to rush (on the Interstate) to a book club meeting in the next town at the library It began at 12:00 and I left the lecture parking lot at 12:00. Whew, that was a ride!! I went to the bank and had the car washed on the way to the lecture at 9:30..What a full day.. But everyday that I am able to complete is a bonus for me..I am happy I can do it..Tomorrow I am having lunch with a friend in a nice luncheon restaurant..at 12:00.. Their food is excellent...

Good wishes to all for a great Thursday.....Doris

Just a quick note, I went to the doctor today, staples are out, X-rays are good, doc was pleased. Now I have a new bright blue cast from toes to knee, non weight bearing for another four weeks and then into a walking boot. I asked the doc if there was any exercises or anything I could do now to make the transition to the walking boot easier, he said "KNIT" And then he laughed. Funny man!

Hi all:

I had my podiatrist appointment this a.m. (happy feet and days are here again) and then came home and changed to go to Birthday Lunch for my neighbor across the street who recently lost her husband. It was really nice to see so many in our community I'd not seen in awhile.
She was overwhelmed by the turnout; over 30 attending. It was buffet salad and I had a small salad and a delicious turkey wrap and yes, I did have a piece of chocolate cake. Very nice time.

Vahina I agree about standing. I can't stand or sit too long without back aching. However even though walking in stores I have to come home if I stay too long. Go back later. or next day.

Nas so glad you are getting around better.

And Sue, I do believe you will make it before Christmas.

Chuckle. Dot I was about to suggest you get a different Dr. So glad your BP was only a typo.
Our Bible Study starts this Thursday and then I have another lunch/meeting at Hospice right after. Hope no cake. But they are bringing in something from Panera's and you know that is lots of calories. I'll try to behave.

Dot, sounds like you had a full day too.

Frances, I agree. It starts in the home but then continues with the schools putting up with it.
Pray for America.

Leona nice your "boys" are able to help so much. I saw that interview and agree that after all
that poor young lady had put up with and been through she looks wonderful and peace, faith and composure just radiate from her!

Time to move on.

Hugs to all you dear people.
