Waiting for the 60 degrees they say we are getting today. Later could get thunder storm. Figures when we get warm weather it has to get spoiled. Been to church and now have to start lunch and feel Hailey as my mattress is suppose to come this afternoon and we need to get her in the cage before he comes.

Tomorrow saying hi 70, could be 78. But then rain at night and clearing Wed. Not sure what to have for lunch yet. May bake later or tomorrow. Right now beds are stripped and sheets in dryer. Tomorrow have grocery shopping so thought I would get it out of way today.

Hope everyone is having a nice day.

Good morning all:

Elsie I do hope the little one gets successfully off the oxygen and feels better soon (is better)
Thanks for the update Wow you really got in the exercise yesterday.

Leona, I sure didn't take it you were annoyed with Camey, just upset with your situation. Certain things can bring back the pain. Keep on being you!

I am serving communion today and then will come on home after church and veg a whole lot.

As usual I wish each and every one of you a blessed and peaceful Sunday.

Hugs,
Lee

I want everyone to know I did not think Camey was being personal. She was not after me or anyone personal. I guess it just hit me. I know so many of us who have lost loved ones wish they could have lived longer without pain. I have never liked these lists.

Take care.

Dot....so sorry you are having a down day. Hope you pick up quickly..

Lisha is still in the hospital and has been on oxygen since sometime during the night on Thursday. Today they were going to attempt to wean her off from it and then maybe they will discharge her.

Nala, the 2 year old, also tested positive for the virus but so far hasn't had to be hospitalized. She seems to be doing a little better today.

Spent most of the afternoon with 2 other Spark ladies at a park in Springfield, MO. We walked their trail for about 2 hours. At the back of it we found a pretty bridge over a stream with a free flowing dam. The park was pretty but a little difficult to find. Anyway, enjoyed the company of the 2 ladies.

Leona------you are doing well with your grief. It took me almost 5 years to even be able to get past our anniversary and his birthday without getting all nerved up. He died in December 2004. Besides having pancreatic cancer, he also had myelodysplastic syndrome which is an incurable blood disorder. He was told on Wednesday that he had cancer and died on Saturday. Take care and big hugs to you.

Take care.........Elsie

Hi All,

I am really feeling down and depressed and ill...so you won't hear from me for a while. The only thing I decided I wanted to do today was change my sheets and take a good hot shower...I just got out of bed to post this. Drinking lots of water and eating soup and resting.

Hugs and Blessings,
Dot

HI all.

And welcome to the "champ". Please don't hesitate to come in and chat with us.

Dot I am sorry you are having that "bug". Patrick said it is a mean one. Hope yours doesn't turn out that way.

Frances you go gal. The answer you should give (I do) is why do you ask??? emoticon

I'll keep this short as I spent too much time helping at church. Came home took a tylenol an ice pack and then a short nap and I am back in good shape. Yippee.

Mel you are an angel. Glad your DS found a house you both like! I get what you mean about laughter and fun. I never joined golf or bowling leagues and just wanted fun as well. So I understand. Glad you are finding that fun in between helping your kids.

Hope you had a break from Avon this weekend Maureen but think you rarely do, am I right?

Leona. I joined that Telmut site. Thanks. It is fun. I probably won't get a gift card for awhile as don't sit too long at a time. But I am over 800 pts so I figure a month maybe?

After that lunch I am not really hungry so I will just eat a bit so I don't get hungry before bed. Leftovers as I hate waste.

Too all enjoy what is left of your weekend.
Hugs,
Lee

Camey, if I happen to live to be 100, when they ask me how I did it, I fully intend to say "By saying exactly what was on my mind all the time, telling people off when I felt like it, drinking like an elephant, eating like a pig and never getting out of my chair if I didn't feel like it."

Not true, of course, but really, how in the world does one know "why"? Can't imagine what makes them ask such silly things.

I am back. I did get my DD's car repaired to the tune of $600. I just want it to last her another year and then her DS will be going off to college and she can move into an apartment close to public transportation. Anyway that is our plan.

Then I have been helping my DS find a house in Louisville, Ky. He would email me the areas he was looking and some of the houses he was interested in. Then I would look them over via the internet and tell him what I thought. That was fun. He made an offer on one last night and they accepted it. So he is in the midst of becoming a home owner. There will be a guest room, so I will have a place to stay when I go visit.

This morning I served at our community breakfast. Won't be doing that for awhile as they are remodeling the kitchen starting this month. It is suppose to be finished in Oct.

We are getting warm weather now. It hit 101 in Phoenix yesterday, but I am out aways and so it only got up to 97. But, I did turn on the A/C and have it set a 78.

Frances, it looks like you have some fun things happening in your part of the world. We slow down in the summer, but I know a lot of the country back east get busy this time of the year.

Maureen, enjoy the car events.

Irish, happy to hear your computer problems have been solved.

Lee, no my group never gets serious about the cards. i use to play a lot of bridge and that is too serious for me at this time. I need people who laugh.
Praying the the report on your lungs will be good on Wed.

Dot, sounds like you have that terrible cold that is going around. It last about two weeks.
Just eat chicken soup and get lots of rest.

Leona, I know what you are going through. I play could of, would of all the time in my mind.
We ate healthy and exercise, but my DH's heart still gave out on him. He did not enjoy being helpless and ask me why I was keeping him alive as he was ready to go. That about tore me apart and I told him that Heaven was not ready for him yet. But 3 weeks later, he was gone.
Some nights, I toss and turn. May is a rough month as he went under the care of hospice just two years ago tomorrow. He then passed on the 28th.
Hang in there, it does get better, as the memories are turning a little better after 2 years.

I think I need to get off here, before I start crying.

I hope others did not get offended with that list. I saw it and copied it and thought I would send it, but like other stuff I send, did not wish to offend anyone. On the Today show they have people living for l00 years and some say they drink brandy with their coffee. LOL
I know each of us have a genic and you go when God calls you even if you take care of yourself with healthy foods and exercise.

I didn't think you yelled Leona at all. I just saw your opinion to what someone wrote, which was not mine.

Today is going to 60 but windy. The wind goes right through you. I did not sleep well and woke with aches and pains, all over. Finally, got a mattress coming Sunday. Can hardly wait and hope it takes care of my problems. Mine sags in the middle right now.

Been having a slight problem with Norton Security with back up. Sometimes, it will go all the way and sometimes, my machine will stop. Does not stop with anything else, just when I do that. Never happened before. Will have to see if I can talk to someone live. It did come in with something saying fix it and I clicked on it.

Tomorrow, 78 they say or is it Monday, but 70 tomorrow, after 46 start. Can hardly wait.

Good Saturday morning! Today is the "big" festival day and it should be a spectacular one. All the apple trees (and many other fruit trees) are loaded with blooms and it's going to be in the 70s and sunny all day. Some of us are planning to attend the huge arts and crafts fair in the park and the hours-long parade this afternoon. There are 2 carnivals and lots of other events all day long. Should be lots of fun.

Betty, Mitzi is so beautiful. Sorry your car needed so much upkeep but important too. (Did you notice they "typo" where you signed your name?! LOL)

Barbara, what in the world could that animal be? I don't know anything that "hops" except rabbits and kangaroos...

Dot, I hope you're feeling better this morning. Wish you could rig up a "bird cam" so we could watch your doves.

Lee, you seem to have an excellent health team - really staying on top of everything and keeping you well. And I know you make certain they do!

Ei, glad you got your computer fixed and can stop in and chat again.

Maureen, you must have enjoyed getting the Belair on the road again. I know you're looking forward to "car season" and all the drives and shows.

Leona, you are OK. You didn't "yell" and, in fact, I thought the list was a bit silly, myself. No one can "do" anything to make them live to be 100 or any other age. I expect it's partly genetic and partly circumstances that are out of our control. I know that doesn't make it any easier, but your kids are right.

Mickey, you mentioned your hydroponic herbs being "weak." Dried herbs are 3 times as strong as fresh (hyrdoponic or not), so if you normally use one teaspoon of a dried herb, you need 3 tsps of fresh. They get stronger when dried. We have a vendor at the farmer's market (in NY) who grows hydroponic vegetables and they are so fresh and flavorful! My son wants to try gardening that way.

That reminds me that next weekend is the big garden show at the state arboretum - which means it's time to get ready to plant. Last year we got all our herbs and vegetable sets there. Guess I'd better "touch up" the garden beds this week!

Camey- I did not mean to bark at you but my kids have spent 4 months trying to tell me I did not kill their father. I tried to give him good food, helped with his exercises and tried to take care of him with love and caring. I am sorry I yelled.

Elsie, Keeping your granddaughter in my prayers.

Lee, thanks my son fixed my computer. He said was in a Sleep MODE. So now it is fine, amazing how he knew what to do.

Frances, TWC was here several times and even put in a new modem. They checked all the wires and outside and in. So they tried. Anyway my son figured out the problem and so glad.(-:

Lots of talk on here, do hope to catch up to every one. Do take care all.

Hi all:

Unfortunately Patrick had to cancel his trip this week. Dot he had the same thing as you seem to have. I said what a bum way to use a vacation and he always positive, said. Well at least I got a lot of much needed rest Mom. I hope you feel better soon Dot.

The sayings attributed to my mom and dad are what I call momisms and dadisms. The were always coming up with things like that. Fond memories.

Thanks for your concern Helen. all my appointments seem to come in groups as every one is keeping an eye on me. It will get worse as Cardio and Primary want to see me every 4 months now. I do go for a Dexa Scan and the newest pneumonia shot on Monday.

Results on lungs on Wed.

Unfortunately the heart echo wasn't what we would all like it to be but all moderate leaks now (all 4 valves) and at least not severe No need to go into the rest now. I thank God for a cool breeze and the fact that my Hospice for tomorrow cancelled as the whole family will be there.
I said yes as that is what I do. However I have to admit I was grateful as this was late afternoon and I have a Church Women United Luncheon I committed to. I do not belong but it is being held at our church and only right to support the women who do go faithfully. (I admit I am going kicking and moaning all the way) Sitting for 2 hours in hard chairs. lol (what a martyr for the cause) emoticon

Mickey I am glad the back pain is easing. And yes the difference is marked. I will wait for my consultation with Pain management until I decided what to do. For now, Joint Flex seems to ease a bit and let me sleep. I'm with you, NO surgery. Heck why put more burden on the heart. *G* Take care. I know the long trips don't help you, but the fun does. You go gal.

Kathy waiting to hear your report.

Leona, you are so right. One size doesn't fit all. You are doing a heroic job and it is painful. No getting away from that. One day at a time. Trite but true.

Elsie the baby is certainly in my prayers. I pray for a quick recovery.

Love that cat picture Betty.

Frances hope you are enjoying your "me" time in whatever is your heart's desire.

Hugs to all.

Mel hope the card came went well and the talk flowed freely or does your group get very serious over their cards?

It is a beautiful day 73* and No humidity cannot believe it. Usually May brings 90* weather. I will take this weather anytime.

Think my allergies have turned into something more. My throat is coated this morning and I am chocking up stuff. Nose is running which is not unusual. No good going to the doctor she will tell me it is a virus and she won't give me a thing to make me feel better. It will finally go away! I hope sooner and not later.

Leona having walked in your shoes do understand. My DH lived 10 months after his cancer diagnosis. He was 43. I have been single a lot longer than I was married. He was the love of my life..the years took the pain of loss and allowed me to live my life with joy and the knowledge that one day we will be together again. May the Lord be with you through the dark days of grief ~ God Bless you I am praying for you.

Mattie you should be having the same weather we are...hope your humidity is low also. It is wonderful to feel dry LOL!

Checked on the birds, they were getting fed. Their are two of them with their mouths open. I can't tell if it was Mama or Papa feeding them. Watching them is so fun!!

Well better get on with my day. Have so much to do and have wasted the best part of the day already.

Camey- I understand what you are saying but my husband had myasthenia gravis and they know of no known cause or cure.
He also had acute leukemia, which could have not been prevented and we lost him in 3 weeks, even though he had chemo treatment .
I agree on eating healthy and exercise and he did that. I also try to do that even though these past few months, I hardly do either. I am trying.
Sorry, it is hard for me at this time.
I do not want people not to eat or exercise properly but there are circumstances it does not work.

Barbara I had l0 operations so far in my life and I don't want to see the hospital anymore.
I suppose when and if it gets worst I will have to do something. I am trying to watch what I eat. I know dry stuff gets stuck so I try to omit that or put something on so it will not be dry.

No sun today, but they say the temp will start climbing tomorrow and by Sun we could hit 70 and have a few days of hot weather. About time. We have a first communion next week and I have to watch what I put in my mouth, as so easy to gain.

So far I am remaining the same and not moving up or down and I so much want to go down.
The fish is working as I find I either stand still or go down a .2 or .4. Those jeans are only about a lb. away, or a .8. Hope I can get to them before it gets too warm to wear.

Want to live to be l00, follow these rules.

1. Your outlook on life is important

Some 61 percent of centenarians view themselves as being very positive, according to the new poll. A quarter believe having a positive attitude is the key to staying healthy. Almost half 47 percent say it gets easier to maintain a positive attitude as you age.

10-year-olds weigh in: Kids are a bit less optimistic, it seems. Only 44 percent describe themselves as very positive.

2. Keep moving

Almost half 46 percent of centenarians say they walk or hike at least once a week. About a third exercise to strengthen their muscles and meditate or seek some other stress-relieving activity. About a quarter do cardiovascular exercise indoors or work in a garden.

10-year-olds weigh in: Three-quarters of kids play outside at least once a week; 60 percent play active video games like Wii Sports; and about half play sports like baseball or basketball.

Read more: Wine, beans and family: Sardinia's secrets to living to 100

3. Smile

Some 84 percent of centenarians say laughing and having a sense of humor is very easy.

10-year-olds weigh in: Surprisingly, kids don't smile as often. About 68 percent find laughing and having a sense of humor is very easy.

4. Don't focus on age

Almost two-thirds of centenarians 60 percent say they do not feel old. Those who do notice the weight of their years say they started feeling old in their 80s.

10-year-olds weigh in: Brace yourselves, fortysomethings. Kids say people start to get old at age 46.

Read more: Living to 100 in Loma Linda, where a healthy diet comes from the Bible

5. Appreciate your younger years

Reflecting back, on average centenarians felt the most attractive at age 31; the most energetic at 34; the happiest at 44; the healthiest at 46; and the wisest at age 49. They felt the most content at 56.

10-year-olds weigh in: At this point, kids are most excited about their "older" years, by which they mean their teens. About 15 percent look forward to being older so they can do what they want. "I will hopefully be able to stay up till 9:45 p.m. without asking," one 10-year-old said.

6. Be around loved ones

Some 97 percent of centenarians say family is important. In fact, being with family and going on vacation are some of their favorite memories. Almost half of centenarians 45 percent say they would rather spend time with their family more than anyone else in the world.

10-year-olds weigh in: Kids have a lot in common with centenarians here. A full 100 percent said family is important. But visiting friends and family is not their favorite thing to do that distinction goes to watching TV and going to the movies.

Even my Mom would not let me touch her flowers , She would let Vicki touch them and Vicki has her violets two that she has are very old and she pets them like they are real living breathing pet.
Got to get my hair trimmed and a few other things done so will be back later

Betty what a beautiful cat. Reminds me of Tinkerbell our cat that just passes. Only difference yours is all fluffy.

MSK I always wondered where you lived. You keep walking even in the winter. I thought you were in Mass.

I don't know what was up on the hill this morning. The dogs went crazy. It was beige and a little bit bigger than the dogs. It would run then hop. If I had seen it out there I would not have let the dogs out. It ran way up on the hill and into the woods. I am glad the dogs lost sight of it. Never seen anything like it before.

I want to go to Kohls today we have a 30% off coupon. I need to get some glass storage dishes. One by one my old ones breaking. I don't like to store food in plastic.

Be fabulous ladies. Hugs Barbara

Good Morning everyone,

Frances: What an handsome little guy Kilean is in his new outfits. I am sure he will enjoy sporting them with the cars and trucks...right down a little boys alley.

I got Mitzi to the vet and she checked out just fine. She got all her shots and is good for a while.

I also took my car to be serviced..I was lucky enough to get an appt. right away and they got all the preliminary things done, but didn't have time to do everything, so I will take it back next week to get the brake, transmission fluids changed and the front brakes, redone. I need to hit the lottery to pay for it all. emoticon

Today I am going to the guild room to get the batting and backing for the quilt top I put together yesterday...I am looking forward to a nice, warm weekend.

Happy smiles and hugs to you all. Batty :)

A very early good morning! I woke up at 5 o'clock - wide awake and ready to pop out of bed (which is, itself, unusual). Let's see how things are around 2 in the afternoon... emoticon

Thank you, everyone, for the nice comments on Kilean and his new clothes. Getting a 2-year-old to change outfits seven times and sit still for the camera was more difficult than the sewing! LOL. Fortunately, everything fit and he loves the cars and trucks on his new jacket - didn't want to take it off.

Elsie, how frightening to have little Lisha so ill. Sending prayers she will recover quickly with no long-term problems.

Lee, I howled at your mother's "saying" - another one I have never heard before! Hope I can remember to use it sometime.

And now, I'm going to just say "ditto" to Dot's remarks today. Thanks, Dot!

Guess I'll go see what I can get into at this hour and check back later...

Frances loved the pictures of Kilean, what a beautiful little boy he is. You are very talented the clothes are beautiful.

Lee, you told of two sayings that I have never heard before.

Helen sorry you got a ticket in error...I am sure the fellow will work it all out and put it to rights.

Maureen I checked on the doves and they are still alive and Mama is taking care of them.

Mattie Sue, Chris is already seeing tomatoes on the plants he bought, they are still tiny but they will grow. Good luck with them.

Naz keep doing those exercises...so proud of how far you have come. I am doing mine every morning too. Have no pain now ~ to me it is just amazing and I am thanking the good Lord.

Betty you had a lovely day away...it does us so much good just to have a change of scenery. Would like to get away for a few days myself.

Well I am off to bed. Have a good nights sleep, be Blessed.

Nice weather here , and getting warmer for the weekend. Kathy sorry you lost your note but will hope the news was good. Dot and Betty hope the birds are happy and growing. Lee good luck with your tests. Nas keep up the good work . Time to slow down for today . Good Night and God Bless emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

I forgot to display my disabled placard when I parked at the mall today - I still had all kinds of figures running through my head from my visit to the bank earlier. So, when I returned to the vehicle, there was a Parking Ticket for the amount of $200 sitting on my windshield. Nearly had a heart attack. Somewhere in very small letters was a tel. no. which I called immediately when I got home. I was all set to get some disinterested person on the other end of the line and was pleasantly surprised to hear an apology when I told him my story. He said to phone him on Tuesday - by which time he would have all the info. - and he will clear it all up. Huh!

Lee - Seems to me you've been having a lot of tests lately. Hope they all turn out in your favour.

Frances: Love those outfits! You are indeed talented.

Mary Lou - I've been watching those eagles too - and I know what you mean about having to be careful what you pass on that you find on U-Tube.

Mickey -Hope that bear hasn't come back. We get a lot of wildlife here too.

Mattie Sue - Where on earth do you live to have tomatoes already. . .!!!!

Dot - Hope Chris is doing fine and continues that way.

Mel - That woman who wanted to get rid of the contents of her liquor cabinet is going to be pleasantly surprised when she arrives here in Calgary. Weather is just beautiful and warm.

Frances HOW CUTE. He is adorable. I love is outfit you did a good job. Just to cute.

We don't have any leaves on our trees yet. Just buds. We usually don't plant until after the 30 of May. The moon has to be in the right spot. I can't plant anyway I have no way of watering it. Our hose is sill down cellar and we can't carry it out by alone. Someone will come and I will hit them up to carry it up the stairs.

Camey they can't go down and enlarge DH's esophagus any more he is to high risk. You should not be afraid of having it done. Its worth it and you can eat with no problem. DH never felt a thing when they went down on him. He felt so much better afterwards.

OMG the ants are coming in on our cupboard. Between dogs, ants and ladybugs we have quite a family here.

Have a good evening. Barbara

Hi everyone-it was a beautiful spring day. We went to a breakfast put on by our financial advisor. It was at a renovated hotel right on the beach. A fantastic view and the food was good too. I took the rest of the day off and we ran a few errands. I need a new medicine cabinet in the bathroom. I have a recessed cabinet and now the big thing is either one on the surface (and they are huge) or just a mirror. Will have to think about what we will do. Also trying to find replacement parts for our grill, but the store said it might be too old. Guess we will call Weber and find out.

Dot and Betty - glad to hear the baby birds are doing ok. I'm sure they give you a smile.

My back has eased a bit, I usually put an Icy Hot patch on at night when it is bothering me. This feels more like pain from the arthritis rather than nerve pain from the spinal stenosis.

For my bday I received a small agro grow. I started the herbs in it about a month ago. Well, everything grew well, but I don't know if it is because they are hydroponically grown, but to me - the herbs don't seem to have the same intense flavor as when I buy them.

This is it for now

I've been checking out more about bald eagles. I am afraid I was all wrong when I told you they eat large animals. I should know better than to believe videos from U-Tube without checking. Apparently they eat carrion, small animals, prefer fish, etc; do not usually feed on chickens or domestic livestock. They have a lifting power of about four lbs; a far cry from what I saw on that U-Tube video!!
Lesson learned; be careful what you take as gospel and then pass on.
Anyway, they are still very interesting to watch. I haven't seen the adult birds lately, but then again I haven't been checking in but once every day or so.......I was spending too much time with the eagles.
I stayed home today and have piddled with first one thing and then another; I can't say I accomplished anything big, but the little things have to be done, also.

Nas, I am happy to learn you were not harmed by the earthquake, or our Mani and her family. But still my heart goes out to the ones it has affected. It will be a long time before their lives will be normal again, and for many who have lost loved ones, it will never be the same. Makes one very sad to think of all that suffering. Reminds me of the damage we get here in the US when tornadoes hit, although that earthquake affected so many, many more.

Mattie Sue, a small green tomato already??? And I consider myself lucky to be able to start planting flowers. But then I live where we can get a frost up until mid-May (altho not usually).
Barb, I would say it is a little too early to start most things in the garden for you, except if I remember right, lettuce, green onions, radishes, etc do like cool weather and were among the first things we planted. Peas, too, if I am not mistaken as they do not like the heat of summer. Been a long time since I had a vegetable garden, and memory is not so accurate.
Oh, but the taste of home-grown veggies. I live outside of the city, so will find a farmer's market when the time is right.

This has been a day when I get hungry every few hours. So far I have eaten lightly, but now I am wanting something hearty. Maybe I will drink a glass of water, then eat some fruit salad and then eat the main dish. thinking maybe some home-made soup from the freezer. If I eat it in that order, perhaps I won't overeat. The problem is, I like crackers with my soup. Lots of crackers. It's early yet, so I will just have a cup of coffee for now. Eating can wait.

Frances he looks so cute in the outfit you made.

Well, it got nice and warm and then the clouds came in and blocked the sun, so it cooled down again. At least, no rain.

Had a nice lunch with the little ones and my friend. I love her kids. They are so darn cute and I have so much fun with them at lunch. We played tick tack Toe, How many words out of a big name, and hockey on the table. They laughed and laughed. I missed them when they went back to NH. I will see them again when school is out.

Hi everyone.

Mama Dove is on the nest keeping her babies warm...hope I don't miss them learning to fly...have not seen them getting fed yet. Guess I am going to have to view them more often then once a day.

Don't have any news. Took today off just to read some articles and go on line shopping for a vacuum cleaner. My vacuum decided to stop working so decided I have to have a new one. Thinking of getting a Shark. Has very good reviews. I want the 'light Lift away' so I can vacuum the stairs. I am really tired of carrying the vacuum I have up and down the stairs. They have it in the Target store so just have to get there and pick it up. Maybe I will do that tomorrow morning. Does anyone have a Shark? Would love your input. Let me know what you think.

All for now,
Dot

Ei, I am agreeing that it must be your provider? Glad you keep trying tho as nice to see you here.

Nas sorry your Tyrant had to leave. I have the feeling you miss her when she goes.

Frances, the outfits are so cute and Kilean is such a cute model. He is getting so big and handsome.

Barbara, does your husband have acid reflex? I choke a lot myself. I can not eat chicken dry. I have to put something wet on it, like gravy or salad dressing for it to go down without choking. I have to watch what I chew. Eating peanut butter sticks to the roth of my mouth, and I have a hard time getting it down, unless I use marshmallow fluff with it or jelly. I can be in a restaurant and have someone come over to me and ask if I am alright. Dh tells them I am and it will pass. So I know what your husband is going through. I think you have to have them enlarge something in your throat but I don't want to go through that so I try to be careful.

Mel, I made the peanut butter cookies the other day but dh doesn't care that much for them.
They are in the freezer. I am taking some to my friend I am having lunch with today for her two boys. I covered the top with chocolate and added some peanut butter morsels. I like them better with butterscotch or white chocolate. I am a sweet eater. I rather eat sweets than a meal any day but I have it under control now with the freezer. I can take them out of the freezer and eat one or two now. Just have to have some control. I do not bring anything home anymore because of the soy in them, so I bake and there are times I don't feel like baking so no worry for me about having too many sweets in the house.

No sun but says it will be off and on and maybe an occasional shower and 58. Occasional showers till week end and then we are suppose to hit 70 for a few days. Be good to see. So glad to say goodbye to April.

Good Thursday morning! Where did the week go?!! Although it's beautiful this morning, they've predicted thunderstorms for much of the afternoon, so it will be an indoor day.

The pileated woodpecker visited our feeder today! Such a magnificent bird.

Barbara, I think it's too early to plant. You can start your seeds indoors now, if you want, though. My dad always said you can set plants when the leaves on the trees (maple, I believe) are the size of a mouse's ear. For us, that's about the 2nd week of May.

Betty and Dot, what exciting news from your nests, also! Life is very good, isn't it? emoticon

Dot, sorry to hear about your friend's husband. I'm sure they understood your need to sleep.

Betty, your day out sounds so enjoyable - and that burger looks delicious too!

Nas, do what The Tyrant tells you! And, won't you be surprised if, one day, your phone rings and I say "I'm coming over for fish dinner"??!! emoticon

Elsie, you got your workout in the yard, didn't you! Will your blackberry bushes bear fruit this year?

Maureen, if you don't care for seafood, try Arctic Char or Tilapia - they're less "fishy" than most. Shrimp is a good alternative, too.

Leona, you are doing very well - and so aware of your progress and living in the moment. Those "baby steps" are really very significant ones. I think reading takes you out of yourself, whereas crocheting frees your mind to reflect and plan, so the combination is working for you. You should feel proud of your strength and resolve. emoticon

Mattie, guess it's been a bad week for walking for you. Maybe the weekend will be better.

Mickey, sorry your back is still bothering. Does heat help?

Mel, if I knew a way to sew and sleep at the same time, I'd market it! Hope you had fun at the "clean up" party.

Ei, my advice is to get your provider to look at your house - and if necessary, make a fuss. My daughter had a similar problem and ComCast kept making excuses. They did say that the construction of the house (brick) can affect transmission, but she made it clear that it was their responsibility to send a strong-enough signal. In the end, they gave her a "business" quality connection and threw in the entire gamut of TV channels and options - at a slightly lower price than she'd been paying! No problems since then.

Lee, yes - I am getting a week's "vacation" after tomorrow. I'll miss my kidlets, but am looking forward to some R&R. I chuckled when I read you were going to get "on the bubble" to go to the store. I'd not heard that expression before and pictured Glinda in the "Wizard of Oz" movie. Hope you had a nice flight.

Marlene, love the puzzle board idea! Sounds like you're nearly ready for your guests.

Camey, enjoy lunch with your friend.

Kathy, hope the foot doctor can give you some relief.

Yesterday I had a bit of good luck because my daughter had to go to Maryland and they decided to make a family trip of it. They left shortly after noon, giving me a huge block of sewing time! I'm happy to report Kilean's wardrobe is completely finished and Ahnu's is well towards completion. I even made the buttonholes for his jacket and they were a breeze (I'd been stalling as I'd not done them on my new machine before). With an extra push, I may be in a position to declare next week completely "project-free!"

Not much going on today. I have to put trash out to the curb and I think I will walk over and have coffee with the ladies that collect at the local cafe every morning. I usually don't go as I think it as a gossip session but I think I will go this morning. Then I have to get back home and do a load of laundry and sit all day waiting for the Schwan;s truck. Not sure what time it comes, the email said any time between 10 am and late evening. I have things to do and yard work so guess I better get started somewhere....trash first.

Frances the only thing I can think of that the deer did not run is maybe they live up in the woods behind my house and are used to hearing the dogs barking.

I took the dogs for a nice long walk yesterday. The dog that almost died found some deer poor and started eating it. Gosh I hope he does not get sick again because of it. Guess we just should stay in our own yard. Its safer. We did have a nice walk. Just love roaming around up there. So do the dogs.

I started to get my garden ready. I was going to plant some seeds but I was tired so I guess I'll try planting some today. I don't know if they will grow or not. Its so darn cold here. Never plated this early. Just wanted to see what happened.

DARN DH is choking. I hate when that happens. He just needs to chew and he forgets. Guess it went down. Never know when we will have to go to the ER.

Got to go. Barb

Good Morning everyone,

We had a grand time roaming through the beautiful Grandma's Garden...they had many beautiful garden accessories too. I was most interested in the fairy garden section. My dd has a lovely fairy garden and I bought some mini ground covers for her. There were lakes and even goats to see. Then we piled into the car and went to the fabric store in Waynesville, I have never seen so many beautiful fabrics. I picked out a cute animal print and a few coordinating fabrics to make a baby quilt for Tiffany at the flower shop who is expecting in August. Then we went on to the Wildflower Cafe. We sat outside it was so lovely. I splurged and got their burger.

They served it with a mini kale salad...I wasn't hungry the rest of the day. It is so fun to get away for a day.

Today, my kitty goes to the vet for her check-up and I take my car in for service this afternoon.

My little birds on the front door are getting bigger. emoticon

Hope you all find some joy in this beautiful day. Smiles, Betty :)

Goodnight everyone...I got interested in a program on the TV...now I am ready for bed and can't wait to get a good nights rest.

Oh! the dove was off her nest this evening before it go dark and we have two baby doves from what I could tell. Mama had flown over to the fence and was sitting there...the babies look pretty good. When she saw me through the glass window she flew back over but did not attempt to go to the nest. Do hope they make it.

Have to go so sleepy,

Popping in to see what is new. Dot wonderful news about Chris. Mel have fun helping your friend clearing up at the cocktail party. Enjoy the evening at cards. Kathy hope the 2nd opinion gives great news. Betty hope you had a fun day with DD and DGD. The fish recipes did not temp me very much . That is something I have to try and eat more of. Occasionally buy frozen types like salmon steaks flavored with lemon or some other spice.
Yes Frances it does take a bit of organizing sometimes to make sure all get in the correct parcels. Especially one something billed does not arrive.Makes a little bit of trouble, LOL
Time to get off here and get ready for a new day . Nice weather here today and maybe for the next 2 days emoticon Still hearing sad news out of Nepal. Prayers continue.for all as needed. Good Night and God Bless.Sweet Dreams and Sleep Well. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Hello all,

I thought I would check in before I do some crocheting. I am working on a scarf for one of the girls. I hope to make a few of them. I did finish a dishtowel for my daughter today; she wants two for her boat. I also finished my book. A great book and no bad language.
I try to read a couple of books a week. After I lost my husband, it took a couple of months to read again and I still do not read a lot. The needlework helps me more.

Mickey- I agree on the recipes. I put red wine in a roast one time and he did not like it and neither did I so no more. I also threw the lemon pepper spice away. I did have some of my potato salad tonight as I forgot to take it to my daughter. I may bake tomorrow and send to the kids.

Mel- Have fun cleaning her house.
My husband and I traveled all over the world and got liquors from lots of places and we have plenty left. Some we liked and others we collected. He brought Ouzo from Greece and we still have the bottle.

Good news on Chris.

Marlene- I wish we could put out the geraniums my husband brought in for the winter but it can freeze until the end of May.

Lee- The back brace is TENS. TENS is an acronym for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Doctors regularly prescribe TENS therapy because it is clinically proven to relieve a range of pains from moderate pain to chronic, persistent pain. TENS is also widely used by physical therapists around the world when treating their patients for various types of pain.
It may or may not help you.

I felt I accomplished a couple of things this week. I turned off the lights in the family room when I left for the day; I have kept them on so someone will think someone is home. Also, I did not cry on the way home from Minneapolis today. Little things but I need little steps.

Yesterday, our daughter and I saw the financial adviser and he helped so much. I told him to still do as my husband did and he agreed. My husband is still taking care of me and his kids. I say how great my kids have been for me and she said "Dad did a good job of raising us".

Best to those who are hurting. I think it was Dot who lost a friend; I am sorry to hear that.

Take care.

Hi everyone. Glad it is 'hump' day, must be because my back is still giving me grief - but it seems like a very long week.

Ei - as Mel said, your connection interuptions may be due to your server. Haven't had trouble with Comcast but it happened to me with AT&T.

Dot - good news about Chris! emoticon

Betty - Hope you had a fun day!

Leona - my DH kids that if he tells me dinner is so-so that I will make it again trying to get the flavor right. I am more conscious about that since he brought it up a couple of times. If it is not a keeper, I toss the recipe.

This is it for now.

Decided to eat my lunch while I chat with you. I am having a late lunch of a big bowl of fruit.
The leaving at 4:30 to go to a cocktail party before going to cards.
One of my friends from Canada will be leaving next week to go back to Calvary and she wants to clean out her liquor, so we are going to help her.
I made fruit kabobs to take and now eating the leftover fruit.

Dot, hope you feel better and get a good night sleep tonight. One of my apps on my Pebble smartwatch tells me how long I sleep at night. Interesting concept, have no idea how it works. So happy to hear about Chris. Always nice to hear good news here.

Irishe, it sounds like a internet problem. You might have your server come out and look at your lines. Mine went out on me and they found a broken wire.

Marlene, I like you idea of a board for you puzzle. I tried to find one in my garage before my DGD started a puzzle last week. Could not find the right size, so now it sits on my coffee table waiting to be finished.

Camey, I would end up with a freezer burned mouth if I had cookies in the freezer. Cannot keep sweets in the house.

Kathy, hoping to hear good news from you after your Dr appt.

Frances, when you said you were going to hand-sew during nap time, I had visions of you sleeping as you sewed. I thought what a wonder woman and multi tasking at that.

Leona, I also saw the mother who went after her son when she saw him throwing rocks at police. She should be made Mother of the Year. Need more like her.
My DH ate most everything I cooked. But, I miss his remarks after tasting a new dish.
He never complained, but would say this is a keeper or you don't have to make this again anytime soon.

Barbara, enjoy the deer. We use to live up north and had them in our yard and it was fun to watch.

Nas, the fish sounds very good. Thanks for sharing.

Maureen, I too find water is a great way to keep from snacking. Once I have my two cups of coffee in the morning, my water mug gets filled and is with in the house. When I leave the house, I always take a bottle of water. I like cross body purses as I can get a bottle of water in them to carry with me.

Mickey, that would be scary with the bear. Maybe if he liked what he found in the bag, he will be back tonight knocking on their door for more.

Lee, I sure hope you get a good pain management Dr. But, knowing what a good Dr you have, he will find the best for you.
You sure do have a lot on your plate. I do have my DD's and their kids to help, but I am in pretty good health myself. (Knock on wood)
It is good you have a high tolerance for pain.
I will have whine and cheese with you anytime.

I think I finished my fruit and had better get up from the computer and move around.

Had a funeral to go to at 10am. Had a really bad night could not get to sleep. Woke up at 9am and rushed around to get to the funeral. It was for a 91 year old husband of a close friend at church. It was a beautiful service. The family was going to the cemetery and then coming back for the meal. I was feeling so bad I came on home. At noon I laid down for a nap and just woke up...I am still yawning.

Going to get something to eat and a cup of coffee.
Hugs and Blessing to all,

Even though I got a new computer, my Internet has been going in and out for the past 4 weeks.
Then they put in a new modem and tried many other things, still the WI FI goes in and out. I have to restart it to get the messages to come through again. My son who lives out of state is going to be here and will look at it on Friday. I sure hope he figures it out.
It is not the equipment they said, since I took it back after a week and had it tested and all is ok on their end. This is quite a Mystery. Hope it is solved soon. Has become quite a chore daily to use it. emoticon emoticon
Hope all are doing well and eating healthy. Take care.
hugs, Ei

Hi all:

Dot that is just fantastic news about Chris. I am so happy for you both!

Oh my goodness Mickey that bear would frighten me to almost the brink. In Yellow stone
Patrick and I walked up to the general store to get things to cook for breakfast. As we were walking back a bear came behind us. I told Patrick (only 3, not to turn around or run). I took out the bacon as I was sure that is what he smelled and yes he stopped to enjoy it.

Now I wouldn't be that brave or generous for that matter.

Kathy good luck with your second opinion.

Frances, do I assume wrong that your time will be your own for awhile? Hope so. Don't think I'll babysit to ward of ALZ...will take my chances.

Leona how many books do you read a week to review. Are any just not worth the read?

I need to get on the bubble and pick up some stuff at the grocery.
Hugs all,

Sun is shining and work to do. I am working in my room full of plants. Looks like a greenhouse but it is just a room full of plants. I am cleaning the dead leaves and then going to vacuum up the mess and dust the shelves. Then that room will be ready for company. I also have an on going puzzle on the table that I may have to put somewhere if I have more people Sunday than I have eating space elsewhere. My puzzle is in a special board that my dearly departed brother in law made years ago it has edges and then felt on the bottom. It is just wide enough to be able to go through the doors and push under the bed to hide it.
I have things to do so better get with it.

Well, today the sun is out but going to be only in low 50 and cool. They say Mon of next week we will start to hit 70 degrees. Can't wait to get out of April.

Barbara, if you love cleaning closets be my guest and clean mine. LOL

Leona, I am fortunate my husband will eat what I give him.

Frances, today I want to bake some cookies but I am too lazy at the moment. I have gotten that way as I started the journey into the 80 range. LOL

Nas. I know you can not bake, but if you make flounder it cooks up so fast, frying. When I bake it takes l0 to l5 min. Frying it you would have to keep an eye on it. On any fish I bake, which I do not fry, but you could fry a lot of different kinds. I put on top grated cheese, bread crumbs and dots of butter.

Helen, I freeze my cookies because I have days when I might get upset and eat 5 or 6 or them at one time. If they are in the freezer I only take out one or two. Usually, when I cook I make enough for two days and I might make it on a Monday and then have it again on a Wednesday, and have something else in between.

I am hoping to be able to get my hair cut today and go to lunch and have a fish dinner with dh.

Tomorrow, my friend's children have vacation so she is coming down from NH for lunch.

Exercise done and now off to do some stuff.

Today is the day I have been waiting for and now it is here. I will see the foot doctor in Asheville to get another opinion of my problem and I am very apprehensive. I couldn't get to sleep until after 2 AM I think and was mostly awake after 7 AM although I stayed in bed for awhile. If she says I need surgery that presents many problems and if she says Peripheral Neuropathy that also presents many problems cause I cannot tolerate so many drugs--like Lyrica and Neurontin.
Not only that, but one winds up unable to walk. Oh well, I must go up there prepared to face the music. Later.

Good morning on a gorgeous, bright day! I filled the feeders and the birds are feasting (also some squirrels). I could sit and watch them for hours. One of the nicest things about this time of year, I think, is being able to sleep with the windows wide open. I rest so much better with the fresh air. In summer, the a/c is on and in winter, it's generally too cold.

Leona, it must be exciting to watch the eagles. We don't have them here - or at least I've never heard of them. That Baltimore mother is the best! I think modern mothers pamper their boys too much, as many of them seem to lack character.

Barbara, it's interesting the dogs didn't frighten the deer.

Mattie, you've had a lot of rain lately.

Betty, have a fun trip! What a great day for it.

Nas, your description of the fish makes me hungry for some.

Maureen, imagine it's a job to keep track of all your orders when they come in piecemeal like that. You must be very organized.

Mickey, how scary to have a bear that close! He sounds like a smart one, too.

Dot, what wonderful news for Chris! So glad he's passed that hurdle. You and I must be sharp as proverbial tacks from watching grands, right? Now... what was I saying??? emoticon

Helen, I have no will power when "goodies" are around, either.

Marlene, congratulations on completing all the cushions - and your daughter is great to pitch in and help. "Many hands..."

Lee, I'm so sorry for your back problems. I know you'll work with your health care team to find the best possible solutions, though, and pray that you can be pain-free in time. (And don't even think about whine - I would be much, much worse)

Camey, when I was young I used to like cooking dishes from different regions and cultures, but find my palate is not as adventurous these days. Or maybe I'm just getting lazy. LOL.

Mary Lou, Rhoda is an example for all of us! What a good friend you are, too.

Kathy, libraries are the best places to work. Good for you for helping out!

It's so nice today, we are going to have to get outdoors for at least a while. During nap time, I'm hoping to do some hand-sewing (finishing work) and then, later, I'll start cutting patterns for the rest of Ahnu's outfits. Several of his garments are done as I worked them at the same time as Kilean's. Tonight, there's an "Oldies" concert and dance as part of the festival.

And May will be arriving...

Hello all,

We have some eagles here and I watched one swoop down and grab a fish the other day. My daughter had one near her house and she was always worried they would get the cat but Charcoal would walk along the edge of something when she was outside.

Mickey- WOW! A bear would have been something to see. emoticon

Lee- I am sorry about the back. My husband had something for his back and it had batteries in it to kinda zap the back. Our daughter took it and she said it has helped her. I will find the name and let you know. Insurance paid for it.

Camey- My husband did not like frozen food except for things like enchiladas, which I always made for a couple of meals, and a couple of other things that were frozen so I rarely cooked ahead of time.

I would make cupcakes and muffins and freeze them. I make banana muffins instead of bread for example.

I did make some guacamole that I froze. Avocados are on sale now so I found you can freeze them. I smash the avocado, add some grape tomatoes,(cut into quarters) a little lime juice. I put a film like Saran Wrap on top of the mixture, put into a small container and froze. I took one out yesterday and the dip is fine. emoticon

Have you seen the news and the mother who slapped her kid around in Baltimore? She was so wonderful and so many say she should be Mother of the Year. She reminded me of Dr. Ben Carson's mother who was tough on her boys that she raised as a single mother. They knew her rules.

Barbara- I think if you like your hair, it is OK. emoticon

Need to get busy.
Take care.
Leona emoticon

I guess you need to get on here everyday. So much to catch up on and I don't really like to read.

I am been busy cleaning closets. 3 more to do. Then for all my drawers. I would like to get it done so I can get to something else. I have to get a life thats all there is to it.

So cute this morning. The dogs sat half way up the hill barking and watching 4 beautiful deer that were there. The dear just stayed for quite a while and didn't mind the dogs at all. Usually they just run off.

No one likes my hair. DD was going to give me a perm today but was called into work. I like my hair its so easy.

Just checking in before shutting down for the night. Busy with an Avon order and a couple of problems with things shorted. Watched DWTS 10th anniversary special . Lots of winners back for it. Lee thanks for the update on Mani. Watching the news about Nepal and Baltimore are really very scary and so sad. Thankfully aid is on the way to Nepal. Can only keep praying things settle down and the quakes stop All the talk of food makes me hungry but I find the water glass helps best to keep weight going down and stops the snacking. Nicer weather here today and hopefully continuing the rest of the week. Time to get slowed down for the day so Good Night and God Bless. Sweet dreams. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Hi everyone. It was a beautiful day, wish I could've been outside more. Was tired today, our alarm went off at 2 am. Guess the phone line was off, called Comcast and they said it would be back on by 3:30 am. But it took a long time to fall back to sleep.

DS called, my DGS left the garage door open, they heard a noise and opened the door from the house and there was a black bear in the garage trying to open the trash can. It got the top off and ran off with a bag. Never a dull moment!

Lee - sorry to hear your back is a 'mess' makes it difficult to get treatment and the surgery is very involved. If I was 10 years younger I would have had it done. By the time I got my appointment for the pain clinic, it had eased off and I canceled.

This is it for tonight.

Camey - To answer your question -right now I can't afford to have any goodies around the house, especially homemade! I'd gobble them all up at one sitting. I also don't like to freeze any dinners I've made other than chill, cabbage rolls or lasagne. And I hardly eat those anymore. If I do cook more than one serving, I just keep it all in the fridge and eat it for lunches later. My foods these days are pretty plain.

cushions all done, out of material and out of stuff to put inside so what is done will have to do. DD came and helped me. That was great because it is more fun if you have someone to help.

Nothing going on, I am going to get ready for bed and then read until I am so sleepy that I have to give up.
