Seems my posts are always about me, I do go back and read but unless I write down what is said I don't remember who said what.

I slept pretty good last night but I am tired this morning. I am dreading standing on my feet most of the day. I made the church bulletin last night and will print it this evening so that is done. I think once I have coffee and some breakfast my body will perk up. I have a card table to take over to the building for the concession but it is heavy so I think I will see if someone can come and take it over for me. I need to go early and make sure the coffee pot is turned on. I got it ready yesterday so all it needs is the switch turned on. Also need to get the tea made. Other than that all seems to be a go.

Hi everyone,

I just finished reading all of the comments over the last two days.

My prayers for all who are in need of them.

My compliments to all of you who are so active in the garden, with the lawn work and the weeding. Congrats to you who mow the lawn, wow, my hat is off to you.

The mystery of the lost dress, that the Post Office lost. I hope your granddaughter gets it, I think it is wonderful that you will make a new dress again for her if the one you made doesn't show up

.Leona's Book Review was really good. I like the fact that the story goes back and forth between the different time zones. Like an historical story within a modern story

I hope everyone who is battling allergies is feeling better. Please take care of your selves and get enough sleep. I didn't feel well today and I took a nap and felt better.

Dot, I am so glad that you are OK after falling. At least you were dancing and you probably got overenthusiastic. the fact that you are not hurt seems to say you are in good condition.

Good Luck to those of you who are babysitting. Sometimes the little ones can be a handful, it gets better as they get older.

Mickey, glad to hear that the scalp mole was not cancerous. Your doctor is wise to make sure that they got rid of all the cells.

Kathy, glad to hear your hubby is coming home next week.

Elsie, your tree was split by lightening I guess. glad to hear that it didn't hit your house. We had a tree on our front lawn that got split down the middle by lightening years ago. It killed the tree and my husband and his brother had to remove it.

Marlene, have fun at your town celebration. You are a hard worker to handle the concession stand.

Some of you have experienced the computer acting up, me too. I can't believe how many times I had to write things over again when the message kept disappearing. seems better today.

I am still trying to master this way of not missing anyone. I tried to write individually as I read each person, but that didn't work so well, I hope I didn't forget anyone. What I did was I made a list of everyone's screen name and their first name. then I tried to write a little something about what each had to say and it helped me in writing this. I hope that I will get the hang of this like all of you have. emoticon emoticon

Catching up as usual. Have delivered a couple more parcels and almost finished the 2 sets of books for May.
Mickey sounds like a very good Idea to make sure no cells left behind. That way they will not have a chance to turn up elsewhere.
Sunny here today but still on the cool side ,not quite double digits on the Celsius scale yet but should be for the next couple of days.
Elsie sure love the prayer picture on your posts. Not smart enough to know how to move it., and won't even try. Am going to be sort of lazy and "ditto" Frances, Lee and Mel's lovely posts.
As always each of the friends and families on here make my prayer list a long one and hard to make sure no one gets missed, but I try. Time to close and head off to bed. Good Night and God Bless Sweet Dreams. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Hi everyone, another 'fall' day here. Will head to bed a little earlier tonight, we are going on a bus trip to West Point tomorrow and the bus leaves at 7 am. The bus comes at 6:30 am and since I want to sit in the front half of the bus, I will be there at 6:30 am.

Kathy-glad your DH is coming along and I hope he comes home soon.

Elsie-nice to have grandsons aroun to help with the outside work.

Betty-hope the dress was insured

Barbara-I usually use a stylus when I use my IPhone, if I don't I make too many mistakes.

Dot-hope the warm water and washcloth helps with the eye itching.

Mel-although the bx came back, not cancer, it was highly atypical, so that means it could be a type of precancer, so they want 'clean margins' so none of those cells are left.

This is it for today.
Take care.

Another day of sleeping in late. Nothing on my agenda today. So last night I stayed up late watching a movie. Might go to Costco today, but might just stay home and save some $$.

Elsie, hope it warms up for you. We are having some nice cool weather here in Az. In the 70s.
Usually by this time it is in the 90s.

Lee and Dot, Brian, Pam, Patrick and Chris are in my prayers. So sad to see them struggle with their health problems.

Dot, that was interesting tip for the eyes. Will give it a try.

Marlene, I hope the weather clears up for your celebration tomorrow. Sloppy Joes sound good. I have to go through my pantry more now that I am by myself as things get out dated.
I have a hard time not buying things in quantity.

I don't do Change the Word, so cannot help with that subject.

Helen, sounds like you have a great handy man.

Barbara, never kept a diary, but now after reading your stories, I wish I had. I do have a few letters I wrote to my parents and it highlighted some of our activities.

Frances, you got up and dressed and posted your message before Breakfast. What a woman!

Betty, so sorry to hear about the lack of delivery on the dress.

Kathy, I sure hope your DH will be home soon. It has been a long haul for him and You.

Maureen, the system sounds great. In the business world it always good to re assets your procedures.

Mickey, What do you think they are looking for as they make a further excision? If they already said it was not cancer.

Nas, hope the laptop is working better for you soon.

Have a great day.

looks like the wind and rain from this morning has abated a bit so I'm going to get outside for a bit or until the wind picks up again....temp is up to 67/19 C now. I did have the heater on for a while to get the chill out of the house.

Take care..........Elsie

Lee just wanted you to know Brian and Pam remain on my prayer list along with Patrick. Just wish he had received better news. Praying for you also. Chris couldn't have his Chemo yesterday...blood work was not good.

Hope the hot wet wash cloth works for the itchy eyes. Sometimes they drive me crazy. I did ask him about the Tears drops and he said okay to use when eyesf are gritty, tearing, or otherwise uncomfortable. I don't use your Brand, found them to heavy for me. I showed him what I use and was told those were okay.

Hi all:

Thanks so much for the prayers for Patrick, even as you've been praying for Brian and Pam.
They are certainly appreciated and know that I do keep others needs on my prayer list.

Dot interesting info on the itchy eyes. Will try it. I use Thera Tears 2 to 3 x's a day for dry eyes.

Hope your renditions of the songs get released Camey.

Leona, I hope your DD''s mail problems get solved soon. I think lowering the postage even so small, will be their excuse now.

Marlene, you sure got a lot done today and then going to help out at your meeting hall.
Hope you can rest beforehand, if you are needed to cook. Interesting tidbit about sloppy Joes. I wiill think of it when I have one. (I do like them as a go to meal once in a while.

Best wished you both you and your DH Kathy.

Maureen, sounds like you have worked out a good system for your AVON. Hope it cuts down the stress level .

Elsie, hats off to you. I don't do yard work anymore. (don't have to as part of HOA dues, but don't think I could if I had too.

Mel I will try using the weights while I peddle. Hmmm hope it isn't too much like walking and chewing gum. Coordination is not my best suit.

Did the dress get there yet Betty?

Charlotte, I pray you have recovered from the trip and time will ease the loss of your brother.

Will you be able to enjoy your one day off Frances. I sure hope you do whatever brings you happiness and peace just for you.

Mickey, sorry to hear about more surgery on your scalp. wise to have a plastic surgeon do the honors. Good Luck and God Bless.

To all I missed...and everyone.
Great big hugs,!
Lee

Just dropping back in to chat. Just finished lunch, no breakfast so had it for lunch,
One egg w/ turkey bacon and toast. ( my 40 calorie a slice bread. It is not bad )

Opthamologist eye appointment went well. Eyes in excellent shape. This doctor did my cataract surgery in 1998. Said, "everything looking good see you in two years". I only use 150 reading glasses, because find eyes get tired. Told him eyes also get itchey. He gave me the following tip. First thing when I get up...run until water very hot and wet a wash cloth...press the cloth over your eyes and you will no longer have the itchy eye problem...hard to believe. But I will try it. I did get some itchy eye drops...and he told me they had an ingredient that dried the eyes so I had stopped using those. Do use atifisual tears drops and those are good for dry
eyes.

Have lost this message twice so figure I had better close..Helen I did not read your message as a joke when you asked for help with the word game...knowing Marlene had started that thread thought she could help. Anyway it shows us our messages are read by all. I love to read them alway interesting and funny...sometimes.

Hugs to all,
Dot

If you read my post correctly, you would see I was just joking! But it sure brought a lot of attention to Change The Word. Maybe we'll get some new members to respond.

Nothing happened to change the word. What happened was people stopping putting down new words and it stopped. I put a word today, but you need more than one to keep it going.
Later, when we can find no more words, and there are still a few, I will change the word.

Helen, I am sure you can find some words in change the word.

Well, did my wash and I forgot to change the setting before I started the water, so had to wash clothes again because they was a little water and had to run the machine. My other machine you could chg setting even if water was running.

Mel, copy and past the site in search, on the regular one, not spark and you should be able to get it. He is not the best singer, I have been told by friends. So far, he has not got the rights back from the daughter of the publisher, but I have. So I can try to contact singers for the songs I wrote without him, but not the ones we wrote together because he doesn't have the rights and you need both parties to have them. I have been trying to contact singers and some answer and some don't. I have to do a search and see if I can find them as finding their clubs are no good because it is fan mail then.

Well, will leave to see gd in her gown for her senior prom tonight, and tomorrow the communion and then we are free till Mother's Day. Then we start again in June with birthdays and confirmation.

I am sending out another children story, Monday. No time to go to post office today as have it in long env and don't know the postage.

Made chicken today and tried something new. I am always trying out stuff I invented. LOL

I put potato flakes on top of chicken after I flattened it in a cutlet, then It. bread crumbs, P cheese, relish and Honey dressing. Cooked for 30 min at 350. It was good.

Nothing wrong with "Change the Word"

Yesterday I actually got out of the house and trimmed rose bushes back that were rubbing on the house when the wind blows. I took what I cut off and got new starts and put them in the ground under pots hoping they will take off. I have at least three rose bushes that I started that way. If they don't take I am out nothing and got a little exercise in the process.

This morning I decided it was time to do something so I swept the kitchen floor, shook the rugs and put them back down. I was in my pantry closet and decided it needed attention and did a little rearranging. I also remembered I was supposed to change the furnace filter so I did that. Now just sitting here typing.

After lunch me and the other lady are going to work at the building where we are sitting up for concession tomorrow. She has not said anything about me helping her cook the hamburger for the sloppy joes but if she does I will help.
According to legend, a cook named Joe at Floyd Angell's café in Sioux City, Iowa, added tomato sauce to his “loose meat” sandwiches and the “sloppy joe” sandwich was born. And the rest, as they say, is history!

If you're heading for Calgary, the Calgary Comic Expo 2016 is featured next few days. They even have a parade today. Guests, Stan Lee, Wm. Shatner, Harry Potter cast, Bruce Campbell. . .

Sound like The Big Bang Theory? I thought it was just a show about nerds - but they do exist! LOL

AND. . . Tom Arnold was on an early show - he's appearing in some bar in town. He's still as zany as ever!

Well, you guessed it. . . I won't be going to any of these today. Heading out for my newspaper this morning and then Kevin should be arriving to work on the fence. He's really done a lot around the place that needed attention.

Prayers going out to all those in need.

Good Morning all,

Especially to you Frances. I sometimes have to put my hands in very Hot water to stop them aching, then use good ole Ben Gay. I had to get up at 7:30 this morning so I could wake-up enough for an eye doctors appointment. It takes two cups of coffee and an hour for me to get started that early in the morning...don't think I could manage being dressed and everything by 6:30. God Bless, you can do it...try a little Charlston it does help get you going, only do not fall..
I am fine, no aches except the normal ones I always have first thing when I get up. Creaky bones LOL.

Well I just killed an hour better head for the shower and get dressed.

Hugs to all, BBL,
Dot

Finally my GD called and told me how to get out of my froze computer. I was using my phone but I am so slow trying to type on it. I gave up and did housework.

Its still old here. I need to mow my lawn. I need to wash my car. Not going to while its so cold. The wind is cold. If the wind would not blow maybe it would be warmer here. I even had my electric blanket on last night.

I could have killed that lady on the phone last night. She called 3 times after 10:00 pm. Woke me up twice. All she wanted was to sell me was viagra. She got a piece of my mind but just kept on talking about viagra. OMG.

While cleaning I found an old diary from 1998. Holy cow was I busy. Didn't know I did so much.
I had 6 little ones here I was taking care. Played at church sometimes 4 Masses. Would take the kids with me and give them each a quarter if they were quiet and good. Once I was playing and singing a song any my GS came up and hugged me and gave me a kiss. I taught all my Grand kids to play piano. Mowed the big lawn, planted the garden and painted the house. This was the year we had the ice storm. We were all sick still I played at church and had all the kids. This was the year my X SIL shot and killed his new wife and himself. I am only as far as May in the diary. Its funny all the things that happen that you forget. I almost wish I had more diaries you have exact dates for things that happened which no one can remember.

As usual got to get to getting.

Whew! It's one thing to be up at 6:30 - quite another to be up, dressed, and ready to deal with the day - especially as it's raining and my wrists/hands are achy. OK that's my grumble. Done. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes and support. I think this is the first time I can actually say I feel every single day of my age and then some. Maybe I'll toughen up and get used to it.

Betty, that dress saga is such a disaster! Did you send it USPS FedEx or UPS? And did you insure it? I rarely use USPS for anything since I've had several issues with them. Well, don't give up hope - it could still arrive.

Elsie, it's nice you can do your yardwork yourself. I do think the physical activity helps keep the body flexible.

Kathy, I hope your husband gets well and home quickly. Try to find something to keep your hands busy (and out of the cookie jar) if you can!

Maureen, your system of delivering two books is an excellent one - probably increases orders too. No, Kilean has not been through a separation before. I think he's just a calmer temperament, plus he's old enough to understand, somewhat. Also, since we were together so much during his first 1-1/2 years, he tends to look to me much more than Mag-Pie does.

Mickey, good luck with your "further excision." I'm glad to hear it's not cancer.

Helen, I looked at your word game, but I didn't understand the rules and couldn't come up with a word! Now I see how it's played. LOL.

Dot, it's good you weren't badly injured in your fall - maybe you should skip the Charleston and only do the Minuet from now on!

Marlene, it sounds like you'll be busy on Saturday. I hope the weather holds and everyone enjoys the festival.

Lee, sorry to hear Patrick's numbers are up again. Hopefully, the doctor will have some good advice next week. Try to take care of you while you're taking care of everyone else!

Mel, the pie was worth it, wasn't it?

Barbara, Leona, Char, Janice and anyone else I missed: I hope your days are going well and spring is at least showing itself.

Time to fix breakfast for the kidlets.

This is getting to be a real saga about the dress. So far it hasn't been delivered...They are to call the post office today and see what the next step is...I have a feeling that it is lost and I will be making another dress. I will see what today brings.

My prayers go to Lee's Brian, Dot's Chris, Mels Dh and all who are not feeling well.

Marlene: Good luck running the booth...sounds like yummy treats will be offered.

I am going to do a little cleaning today....My fridge needs some help...

Wishing you all sunshine and smiles, Betty :)

The tree that split is away from the house so no danger of it hitting the house.

My grandsons have volunteered to do the lawns for me but as I told them---someday I will have to get someone to do them but I want to as long as I can. I did run the weed whacker for about 20 minutes today just to test it out---it worked great. I haven't gotten the trees or bushes trimmed yet.

Did 2 loads of laundry today and hung them out. Got in a good nap this afternoon.

If it doesn't rain tomorrow I will be outside either on the mower or running the weed whacker.

Take care...........Elsie

dh got out of the hospital a week ago today. He has been in the Nursing Home here ever since.
If all goes well he will come home on Monday. I can't stop eating--my usual reaction to worrying situations. Hope to get back to sanity soon!

A little earlier tonight. Hope I can answer some of the posts. Lee and Mel yes I slept better last night but still had to get up once in the night. Running around much of the day with deliveries and new books for May to those with no orders. Have found a system that seems to work not too bad. Do 2 books for the next month at a time instead of trying to do all of them every 2 weeks. With about 25 to 30 orders every 2 weeks it goes by so fast. Not everyone orders all the time so it does work out but I start with 150 books at each delivery. Frances hope things calm down a little while Momma is away . I know how hard it is for Magdalena to realize when both are away every day. Has this happened to Kilean before or is it something new for him too.??
Betty ,hope the dress gets to Georgia today and we get to see her in it.
Dot ,hope that you don't have any bruises from the fall.
Lee ,will put Patrick at the top of the prayer list ,with Chris , along with Brian and Pam, Doris's family and Marlene's son. Also all the rest of this whole group. In case I have missed anyone will also "Ditto" Mel's and Mickey's posts. Leona the book review sounds quite interesting and I will be looking to see if it is available at my library here in the future.
Helen ,I will go check out the Change the Word line to see what is there .Have not really looked before. Time to close for tonight. Good Night and God Bless. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Hi everyone, chilly day but it was sunny. At least it wasn't a dreary day. Got a phone call tonight from my dermatologist that a biopsy on a scalp mole was, "...not cancer but severely atypical and needs a further excision." This will be my third 'further excision'. So now I will male an appointment with a plastic surgeon.

Marlene-I am sure you will be very busy with the concession stand. The beans with ground beef and bacon sounds delicious. May need to try that this summer!

Lee-Patrick will be added to my prayer list along with dot's Chris, Mel's DD and Doris' children.

Betty-hope the dress finally arrives and that we get a picture of her in it.

Dot-glad the fall didn't seem to do any damage.

Frances-your days will be very full, that's for sure. Poor Magpie-hopefully it won't take too long for her to adjust.

Leona-getting electricity in your hair before a storm is a new one to me. Guess it is better than getting achy joints!!

Take care.

I don't know what is wrong with change the word, I need more information. I see Mary Lou was answering her previous entry with a new entry. But that is okay if no one else is posting. Let me know and I will check it out.

Mel love your sense of humor ~ think I will change partners, maybe I will use a broom instead !

Lee no soreness has shown up yet from the fall ~ so think everything is going to be okay. So very sorry to hear about Patrick's PSA will be keeping him in my prayers along with Chris...who went for another Chemo this morning. God Bless them both with His healing power.

Helen, hope the word game get straightened out. Maybe Marlene can help.

Marlene the concession stand will have great food by the sound of it. Glad you and the other lady have help. You certainly do keep yourself busy with everything going on in your town.

Betty hope that the mail got to Georgia and everything turned out just fine. Hard to believe they would deliver it to the wrong address.

Okay to keep this message from getting to long am going to DITTO Mel and Lees lovely message. They are good at never forgetting anyone.

Hugs and Blessings to all,
Dot

Elsie, that is scary about the tree and glad you are safe. There was a lady this week that was killed when a tree fell on her house. I am not sure if it was in Oklahoma or not. They also had storms in Texas.

Son is back to work but taking it ealy. Our town has a celebration this Saturday and me and another lady are in charge of the concession stand. We always have help. It is supposed to rain again tomorrow but clear up by Saturday. I baked cookies this morning. Some of them were frozen ones that some one gave us that she had bought from grandkids and their school fund raiser. I think that was the last box. They are not has good as home made ones. We will serve sloppyjoes and hot dogs, also have beans that have hamburger and bacon in them, oh so good. One of the board members is making chile and he said with Fritos it will be Frito chile pie

Hi all. I'll keep this short as I am behind on things here. More running around for Brian and Pam and then Patrick called. His PSA is up again. (some of you know in 2010 he had his prostate totally removed) In 2012 PSA back and he underwent 37 treatments of radiation.(while working). Now his PSA has gone up 3 times and this means that somewhere in his body are cancer cells. We talked it out at some length and he will see his Dr. May 6 (next Fri). Dr. called him at work and he was glad so he can absorb it all. He said Mom.. I think I won't take hormone therapy as quality of life is important. God has this one. I understand completely as he is like his mom in that respect. time will tell. There I vented, and prayers welcome.

Dot I hope the soreness doesn't come on. Do be careful my friend.

Frances I do not envy you in any way shape or form.those long days of f just doing for yourself are hard enough. Prayers go out for endurance (which I know you have.) I do wish you could get some "me" days in there.

Good report Leona. You do make such good use of your time.

I must git as on Thurs I try to get half my cleaning done (for back) so best I not sit or wont' get any done.

Feel better Maureen. That's an order.
Hugs all,
Lee

Betty, the way kids grow, Georgia will out grow the dress by the time they deliver the dress.
Hope it arrives tonight!!

Helen, good luck with the new printer.

Dot, sorry to hear about the fall. Maybe you had better get a different dance partner. Fred is getting too old to keep up with you.

Camey, could not get the site to come up. Said I did not have that server.

Frances, I admire you. I don't think I could do it. Do you think maybe they could find a student who would come in for a few hours in the afternoon to give you some relief?

Leona, you always read such good books. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, a book reviewer and a weather forecaster all wrapped up in one.

Janice, good to see you posting and getting to know us a little better.

Maureen , hope you got lots of sleep last night.

Elsie, you make me feel lazy. I know I should get out there and trim my bushes, but instead I hire someone to do it for me. It is great you are able to do it all.

Mickey, that was great story about your DH and the ring. When ever my DH would sometimes ask me to do something, I would answer OK Warren. (Warren being my father's name) We would get a laugh out of that.

I think my pie eating caught up with me as I did gain some this morning. So will try to do more walking today.

Frances - I know they wouldn't load you with all that responsibility if they didn't think you could handle it. One day at a time, so they say. . . and then come here and tell us about it! lol

I think Peedle (Mary Lou) got us stuck on change the word thread. Maybe somebody out there can give us a hand?

Busy doing the regular stuff - and will attempt to finish getting my new printer set up.

Frances, You will constantly be in my prayers and I know many others will be praying for you too. Hope Magpie will respond to the love you shower upon her. Find your quiet times throughout the day to meditate and be replenished to carry on. Wow! God Bless you!

Have things to do today and getting a late start. A fall shook me up, glad to say nothing is hurt.
Will have a few bruises I am sure. But nothing that can be seen...lucky me! It was so unexpected as falls usually are. Dancing around the kitchen... thought my partner was Fred Astaire and tripped over his foot...lol. It happened a couple of hours ago and have no pain anywhere so am perfectly alright. I am blessed, so will get on with my day. PTL.

Hugs and Blessings to all,

Frances, I had the kids 7 to 5 five days a week. But I would love those memories back.

The day is growing away from me too fast and nothing done, except my bike and my mail.
Now have to go and start the fish as we have our big dinner in the afternoon. Tomorrow, will go see my gd's gown dress, with her in it and meet the guy taking her. Then the next day we have a first communion. Sunday, will rest. Tomorrow, in morning will wash and get the clothes done. Seems nothing else is getting done. Just not in the mood today for some reason. These allergies drive me crazy. Blocked up nose, lose breath for half second sometimes, when blocked, then the ear blocks, and post nasal drip. I think it is the dog but she is going on l0 and I will suffer it out. Not going to give her up and then they put her down.
Won't do that to her. Her hips are bad the vet said when she ex rayed them but she is still doing fine climbing the two stairs to come in. And she still runs, so she is still got a few more years before her time and I plan to let her live them out. Meanwhile, I will suffer. I will miss her when she is gone but I hope dh realizes this is the last one as he turns 80 next year. His back is acting up with the degenerated disc and herniated one. Well, Hailey is barking at me as she is hungry so I am off.

Well, my life continues: yesterday, my son-in-law informed me he will be working from 6:30 to 5:00 while they deal with the Texas flood claims. So I will have the children for 10-1/2 hour days for the duration. Oh - and 6 days a week: Sunday-Friday. emoticon

Leona, it's easy to add pictures and documents to Family Tree Maker. On the person's data section, click on the Media tab (the little book). Then click on "New." That will give you a couple of options, but if you have the picture in your computer, just click "Add New Media." This opens a window into your files - you can browse through your pictures, documents or downloads, etc and select what you want to add. Click on it and click "open" and it will insert it into the person's FTM file.

If you want to add it directly to the person's "title" page - at the top of their data - you can click on the icon there (the male or female profile) and it will show as their main picture on your tree as well as in the media section.

I try to add a picture for each person on the tree. If I don't have an actual photo of them I'll use a picture of their house or gravestone or even a birth register - anything I have to make them visible on the tree.

Well, as you can imagine my days are pretty full. Besides coping with the long days and responsibility, the children are missing their mommy - though they Skype every evening - and Mag-Pie in particular is acting out her unhappiness: lots of tears, lots of naughtiness. If I had to place a bet, I would say she, too, has inherited Anastacia's Grit! emoticon I may have met my match. LOL.

I am doing my book review and put it on Amazon, Library Thing and goodreads. You might like this read. It does need the next books in the series but I still liked it.

Review of The Inheritance by Michael Phillips
From Bethany House Publishers:
The death of clan patriarch Macgregor Tulloch has thrown the tiny Shetland Islands community of Whales Reef into turmoil. Everyone assumed Tulloch's heir to be his much-loved grandnephew David. But when no will is discovered, David's calculating cousin Hardy submits his own claim to the inheritance, an estate that controls most of the island's land. And Hardy knows a North Sea oil investor who will pay dearly for that control.

While the competing claims are investigated, the courts have frozen the estate's assets, leaving many of the locals in dire financial straits. The future of the island--and its traditional way of life--hangs in the balance.

Meanwhile, Loni Ford enjoys a rising career in a large investment firm in Washington, D.C. Yet, in spite of outward success, she is privately plagued by questions of identity. Orphaned as a young child, she was raised by her grandparents, and while she loves them dearly, she feels completely detached from her roots. That is, until a mysterious letter arrives from a Scottish solicitor. . . .

Past and present collide in master storyteller Michael Phillips' dramatic new saga of loss and discovery, of grasping and grace
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------

Leona's Review:

This is my first read by Michael Phillips and I look forward to the other books in this series.
The major characters are David Tulloch and Alonnah Ford who prefers to be called Loni.
The Scottish dialect is used through out the book and I rather liked it; it helped bring the book right to Scotland. Words like dinna, ken, ye, aboot, canna and nae.
The novel begins in June 1924, then late Summer 2005, November 2005, Winter 2005-2006, Summer 2006, July 2006, October 1953 and ends with July 2006.
The book goes back and forth between the Scottish characters and the United States' characters but flows smoothly.
The book is dedicated to Patrick Jeremy Phillips.
There is a map of Whales Reef, Shetland Islands, in the front of the book as well as the Tulloch Clan Family Tree.
I found it an interesting and easy read.
I received a complimentary copy of The Inheritance by Michael Phillips to read and review from Bethany House a division of Baker Publishing Group. The opinions are my own.

Hello all,

Quite a few here lived on a farm.

Frances- I like the picture of your grandmother. I need to learn how to do this on my Family Tree Maker.

Yesterday, I was watching Greta on FOX and it was a Town Hall Meeting with Trump. A WWll Veteran got up to ask a Question. The audience stood up and applauded him. It was so emotional and I saw the American Spirit in action. emoticon

I have some electricity in my hair and we have a touch of snow in the area. I have to go into Minneapolis today to sign some papers so cannot stay home. I get electricity when snow is in the weather forecast. My son asked me the other day, how was my hair. I can always predict the first snowfall. I also had this when I lived in West Texas and we were about to get a sandstorm.

I need to get ready.

Best to those who need it.

Take care,
Leona

Mickey, What a story about your meeting with the friend of 50 years. that's great that you still meet for lunch. I also like what you said to your husband to be when you saw how your Mother in law to be waited on his father. My Mother waited on my Father too. She prepared his dish for him. But my Mother was the strong woman in their relationship. My Father grew up without his Mother as she died when he was very young.

Lee, You asked about tnihe Gwee Gym. It is more similar to using light weights and high reps. You can feel it in your muscles. I think it can help firm you up. Not like heavier weights that build muscles. It is also good to use sitting or standing for arm movements while dancing etc. I like it for variety. It also feels good as you stretch it out and back etc.

The storm that went through last night split a tree that's in my front yard in half so now I will be finding someone to ut it up so I can haul it to the burning pile.

Today I hung out 2 loads of laundry and have another one ready to hang out tomorrow. Also picked up my walk behind weed whacker from the repair shop so will be able to get some of that done next week. Looks like the yards need mowing again. Still have trees and bushes to trim and plants to get into the ground.

I learned to drive when I was 6. I was sitting on the tractor waiting for my dad to get on when he put it in gear and turned the choke way down and said take it home. Well home was just across the garden...lol...After that I drove it very often. Spent most of my teen age years plowing and dragging the fields. Also helped my uncle plow his 60 acres. When I took driver's ed in school the instructor kept telling me that the car wasn't a tractor and I need to begin the turn as I approached the corner not after I got to it. I got my driver's license soon after I turned 16. My dad had to sign for it.

Very tired, nodding off at times but still have some work to finish.

Take care.........Elsie

Hi everyone, had breakfast today with an old friend. I met her in a local deli when we were both in our second pregnancy. Turned out we were married on the same day and our pictures were next to each other on the society page of the local paper. So we've been friends for over 50 yrs

Barbara- hope your flowers survive the 3" of snow.

Marlene-did your roof suffer any damage from the storms?

Betty-don't think I have ever seen a meatloaf recipe with beer. Hope Georgia's dress is ok.

Janice-I think most people learn how to drive easier with non family members.

Charlotte-glad you stopped in to say hello.

Frances-interesting story about your grandmother. Thanks for sharing.

Lee-when I find something something else I like- I will quit work! I must admit I am getting tired of the 40 min. drive.

Dot-glad you married a man who wasn't intimidated with an independent woman! My mother in law waited on my father in law hand and foot. When I was at their home, I took my ring off and told my now DH, "Here is your one chance to back out because there is no way I can live like your mother." He refused to take the ring and we joke about it now.

Take care.

I can get this on my favorite, but somehow the page does not come up when you click on the site here. See if you can get it. Maybe it only goes through in an email.

Having a lazy day so far. But, soon will have to get dress and go to a club dinner and then play cards. This club is called the company of friends and we meet twice a month at the golf restaurant in our complex for a drink and a early dinner if you chose. Every dinner that is purchased, a dollar is donated back to the club. We use the money for charity. We give to a Veterans charity, plus another called Ryan's House. The house is used for children who have a terminal illness and their families. So anyway, I like to go to dinner and make sure they get more money. We also have other events to raise money.

Camey, I also like kids. When ever I see a child in a store crying, I always talk to them to try to get a smile on their faces. Looking forward to hearing your songs.

Lee, I also like my Motion peddler. I have taken to lifting weights as I peddle.

Frances, what a great story about your DGM. I do think you take after her in spirit. You are one strong woman.

Charlotte. you do not have apologize for not getting on here too often. I don't get here every day and I don't have what you have on your plate at this time.

Leona, sounds like your DGD is becoming a strong women. She gave the saleslady a good answer. I wonder if Taz did eat any seeds if they will appear later in your lawn after she does her duty out there? A little fertilizer helps.

Betty, meatloaf with beer. Interesting!!

Janice, I looked up the Gwee Gym. I have something like that already, but not as fancy.
Will have to dig it out.

The strong woman in my life would have to be my mother. I remember her milking cows, driving tractor and doing lots on the farm. She also did all the cooking, cleaning and housework.
My father worked on the farm, but I never saw him do a thing in the house. In fact, he would come in from his chores, sit in a chair in the living room and call, "Mert, bring me a glass of water". She would get it for him. But, they were married over 60 years so it worked for them.
Later when they sold the farm and he went to work in a factory, she worked in the school cafeteria until they both retired.

Time to hit the shower.
I thought I might have gained some weight yesterday, but stayed the same. Last night after cards at my house there was two pieces of pie left, and I ate both of them before going to bed. Bad Girl, but boy was that pie good.

I had a nice lunch and brought the kids some goodies. They always know I will. They are growing up, one going on ll and the other going on 9. I love little kids. I have so much fun with them. Well, now home and going to work on another children story to send out.

Frances, nice story about your grandmother. I remember mine. She was a tough lady too.
She worked in the fields and even delivered a baby there. I was born with a mid wife. She got my first name wrong on the birth certificate and my mother's last name spelled wrong.
When I went to get my passport I noticed it and I had to go to court to change it, so just didn't bother because I ended up with the arthritis in the hips and the doc told me not to do too much walking. So the passports just sat here.

Weather is 60 but windy out and a bit chilly too. Hopefully, Sat will be warm as we are 60 again. It is that March wind still hanging around.
