Well, Mel2 the improvement with my back is that it is straighter, at least my daughter said it looked a lot straighter. Didn't help my knee any and he is a good chiropractor and a Christian man.

Still getting snow, bummer, even though I am off work until Thursday, granddaughter wants me to go pick her up bring her to the clinic here in town, and take her back home, it is a 30 mile trip one way, she is paying for the gas, said she would, and she wants to do her laundry while she is down here, I'm no sure I told her if it does not storm, but, we may be getting a storm!! Ugh

I have gotten out some Christmas stuff but now am out of the ,mood

Oh, my goodness, miracles do happen. It is not even noon and I am dressed and even ran some errands.
Going to a Genealogy Club meeting at 1. We are suppose to bring a dessert from a country our ancestry lived in. My relatives seem to be from Europe, so decided I would be safe taking Scones. Bought them yesterday, but last night I had to taste them. Bad! Ate 6 of them and had to go and purchase some more this morning. I cannot have sweets in the house.
Hopefully there won't be any left for me to bring home.

Gain some weight this week. I always do this after my brothers visit. We eat out too often.

Rosie, at least you have some improvement in your back. Hope it continues to improve.

Mattie, shingles can be very painful. I hope it is not the case for Vicki.

Carol, good rule. Getting carpets cleaned can really be a lot of work.
So sad with the fires.

Lee, isn't it great when we can find good excuses so we do not get out work done. How is Brian? He has been in my prayers.

Leona, sounds like today is a day to curl up with a good book and let it snow!

Frances, I am sure the kids will have great fun making cookies today. You have an icon of you running. Are you chasing the kids or running from them. HA HA

Sharon, sorry about the lost with your FB team. Use to watch football all the time when my DH was with me. But, now I don't watch much.

Betty, good to hear the cold is getting better.

Julie, that eye Dr sounds interesting. Hope he is helpful.

Maureen, after my DH had his massive heart attack, they told him that his heart showed evidence of several silent attacks. It is good you DH is getting this checked out.

Time sign off and get on with the day.

Last day for Chiropractic appoints. unless I go once a month for maintaining which I most likely will Not do, because I really did not see any improvement in my knee, just in my back. But, at this point I am not sure, anyway, we are getting more snow this morning, I hope no snow tomorrow

Morning ladies,

This is my rule for all the holiday gatherings is: I gotta love it to eat it, if I just like it, then nope.

Waving to all emoticon , it has been said before but I can't believe we are almost 1/2 way through December.

The carpet cleaner is coming this morning, (cancelled it last week) and goodness, I am a packer in that I can get so much into a small space. So......when I move it back, there will be a serious weeding it out going on for sure.

Fires are still going and it jumped into Santa Barbara County, Our Gov. said unfortunately this may be our "new normal", we have had fires all year. Of course, now it is hitting populated areas which is so much worse.

Have a healthy day

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

Good morning.
Back is better this a.m. so got to grocery 8:30 and home at 9. was 35 when i got up this a.m.
That's FL for you. Next week it may hit 80 again.

Frances you can make and patent something for Dot's nose. Call it a "nose cozy"

Sorry Dot. Glad you are healing and think probably your being tired is more due to stress.

Sorry you couldn't get to Minneapolis Leona, but sounds like a pleasant day planned.

Maureen I hope they can get to the bottom of your DH's problems.

Hope the cough stops Betty. I heard the flu has made it to GA. Hope all have had their shots.

Julie I've not heard of Eye neurology but hope the Dr. Can help you.

Rosie are the Chiropractic sessions helping you. I hope so/

Mattie Sue how is the weather there and how is your DH doing?

This isn't getting my work done. So will sign off.

Hugs all.

Hello all

Watching FOX & Friends and they are talking about the explosion at the Port Authority in New York. Steve's daughter is there trying to get to work and she keeps communicating with her father. emoticon

Maureen- Best to your husband. I have heard of this happening.

NAS- 80s. emoticon

I was going into Minneapolis today but the snow came and now it is a freezing mist there now. Traffic is horrible. Yes, Frances- It does keep me busy at home.
I need to finish a book today and vacumn .

Julie- I have not heard of a neurologist for the eye. My granddaughter in Texas is now working in neurology and wants to go to medical school for neurology.

Betty- emoticon

It is light outside now and I can see the snow is coming straight down and almost reminds me of a Hallmark movie.

Have a good day.
Take care,

Good morning! It was a very busy weekend - and it seems as if we've moved into the bustle of the season quite quickly. The tree is up and much of the decorating done, gifts are mostly purchased and wrapped, and baking is underway. Now, my goal is to just Keep Up! emoticon

Sharon, do you bake yeast breads or quick breads? Nothing like a fresh loaf, warm from the oven.

Nas, I hope you're enjoying those 80 degree days.

Betty, there seem to be a number of "bugs" going around this year. I heard one report that the flu is expected to be particularly bad, and the vaccine they're using is only 10% effective. Not a happy outlook. Take care of yourself - get lots of rest and orange juice.

Julie, good luck with your eye appointment.

Marlene, you must be very busy. Weather sounds nice.

Maureen, I hope everything goes well with your husband's tests. Scary to think he could have a heart attack and never knew.

Elsie, glad you're getting a little rest - and Tim's improvement is wonderful.

Vahina - funny.

Rosie, day off soon?

Leona, the pretzels sound good. And you're crocheting up a storm! The cold weather keeping you indoors must be good for your productivity. LOL.

Dot, good news about your nose, but sorry it feels "unpresentable." Maybe you could knit a little cap for it? emoticon

Sue, I hope you were able to rest up yesterday.

Mel, nice to have your brother visit, and now you can rest again.

Roz, it's nice to think of you swimming in the sea, while temperatures here are plummeting into the 20s and 30s. Enjoy!

Jazzy, we got about an inch of snow - and then it went away again.

Lee, I'm sure you'll get your decorating done at your own pace. No need to rush.

I've dawdled over coffee this morning, and now need to make hay. We're baking cookies and treats today, so I'm making a "lazy" dinner - a faux lasagna constructed in the slow cooker, using a package of cheese ravioli. Among the treats this week will be Nanaimo bars and little candy wreaths made with marshmallow and cornflakes (sounds horrible, but everyone tells me they're delicious). The kids and I will be up to our elbows, I'm sure.

Yesterday was a nice day with sunshine, warmer temperatures and no wind. It will change today. I did my 60 minutes walking and gave Hailley her bath. I baked bread, a pumpkin dessert and soup for dinner. I also did some small cleanup chores around the house and then watched the football game. We weren't so lucky this time. We lost and I was sad but next week is another game so hope we rally then.

Good Morning everyone,

I am going to my tap class today...I want it to be the last one, but since several can't make it...we will go one more week. I will not do much tapping today, but just wanted to come by to see my gals.

Didn't feel like cooking yesterday, so I ordered a pizza and really enjoyed it..Had a lot left oveer, so I put it in the freezer for another day or two.

Cold is better but still coughing...this was a bad bug..so be careful out there...Georgia's whole family in NC has it...My dd had it...so take care...

Still keeping Tim in my prayers. Plus all those folks affected by the fires in California...

Wishing you all a happy day..smiles, Betty :)

Went to church this morning and it was chilly--48 degrees feels cold when it was 80 the day before. Met with people who are planning and presenting the second of a two day membership class for people who want to join the church. The class will meet next week after church and they will probably join at the Christmas service. I have been on the membership committee for about 6 years, chairing it until a few months ago. We manage to complete a project about once a year and this year it was improving the membership process.

Tonight I read through everything and enjoyed getting the "next chapter" in the lives of our group. Will have to sign off now, as must get up early for an appointment with an eye specialist--he is a neurologist of the eye who makes recommendations to the neurologist about how my eyes are being affected by my auto-immune issues.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Julie

Peeking back in . Had something to eat and went out for coffee to see if anyone else showed up from our car group.. Only one other guy turned up . We sat and gabbed for about an hour then came home. Just watched NCIS and am here to check in before closing down for the night. DH has Doctor's app't and another on Tuesday . That one is for heart tests , not sure what will be found with that. Has apparently had a mild heart attack but don't know when . This has been all found out since early November when he had the ear wax problem, Nurse practitioner made him se the Family Doctor which has found all the rest including Type 2 diabetes. Think I might have to make an app't to see my replacement Doctor as my old one has retired recently. When I saw him earlier in March that when I signed up with the new one. Think this new one is female , but not positive. Had no reason to go in to see as yet. May need to go just to satisfy my curiosity. Time to get off here for tonight . Good Night and God Bless.. Sweet Dreams Stay safe. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

We had a few snow showers last evening but nothing stuck around. I didn't go the church today as it started out in the low 20's and just got into the 30's. Tomorrow, we are supposed to be about 40, but colder again Tuesday & Wednesday.

Hi. Just popping in to say I'm having a snow day. Looked out to see the truck buried under about 4 inches. Plow filled in the end of the driveway. DH said stay home if you want to ,I did. Played on this catching up on the emails and then played "Free Cell" . After lunch took a nap as DH was watching football games.
I don't do much decorating for Christmas as only the two of us here. Usually go to see DH's daughters and DGK's at his ex's. We are always welcome and then ago to my DS and his family on Boxing Day My decorating is usually just Christmas cards strung up. Have a small tree just no place special to sit it. Not really scrooge but some days feel like it.
Time to think about food again so will close for now. emoticon emoticon Maureen

Hello all,

I should have been on here this morning.

I did make church this morning and then to the grocery store to get the Sunday Papers. I really only get them for the coupons and then scan the paper.

Prayed for Tim, Brian and also Rosie as I know this is hard without her son this year. I did say a prayer to cover all. emoticon

Dot- Glad it is over with for you.

This morning Father pulled out a "scroll" and had a proclamation to read. All church members in the last 5 pews must move forward. I was a few minutes late so I was about 3 pews from the back. A bunch of us moved. emoticon

Watched the Army Navy game and Army won. My father was in the Army so I was for them. I did feel for the Navy kicker as he missed the kick at the last minute that would have won for them. emoticon

The back road I drive to get to the county road was good as they had sanded the hills. I have three hills and only one that is fairly steep. It is not by any trees or houses so the sun hits it and that helps melt the ice and snow. It was my first time out of the house this week.

I finished dipping the pretzels. I will package them so the kids can take them home at Christmas.

I finished crocheting a scarf and when I was looking through my bin (s) of yarn, I found
another skein of it so I will probably do another scarf. I started a Granny Square afghan with the colors purple and white. Not sure who will get it but needed to keep busy. I may crochet the last row in gold and give it to one son who collects Vikings emoticon and Twins emoticon things.

Need to do some more reading.
Best to all.

Take care,
Leona

Wonderful to see our new members Roz,Julie, and Jazz posting and joining in the chatter. you will learn who is who very quickly. You are already picking up names and making reference to
members. I am finding all of you very interesting. Love new friends!

I am having another rest day. For some reason I feel completely warn out. Yesterday I did not do much of anything either. I thought this nose thing would not sap my energy but it sure has. I walk through the livingroom and long to finish decorating the tree but I just have not got what it takes to bend and stretch to do it, unusual for me. I can push myself to do stuff normally...but not this time. A few more days and will have the plastic surgeon do his thing and then will have a few more no energy days...what a pain! But I do know it will all pass...am finding out that as
you get older the body just cannot bounce back as quickly as it used to. Accepting that is a challenge.

So I will be old Grandma sitting in her chair knitting! Never thought I would see the day.LOL

God bless you all,
Dot

Good what ever time of day it is where ever and when ever you are reading this. It is 11.37 as I write.

We have been having a few scattered showers yesterday and also this morning but not heavy enough to keep you in. Those of you having snow hope it is not too much.

Our church service was interesting and edifying . There were a few absentees because we have our Christmas concert this evening so they may have decided that they won't make two trips.

Mel2,-----We swim in The Gulf of Paria once the tide is favourable. .There are so many seniors all retirees who have that early morning swim, or soak or walk in the sea ..
It is such a pleasant form of exercising.
That is a good idea to use the firm mattress for your back along with the correct exercise, that should greatly alleviate the problem.

Vahina---Hi,,lovely and unusual name. I too always need to have a rest after some trips..
I guess that's expected at my age ...:)

Have a blessed rest of whatever time it is wherever you are everyone,
Much Love,
Roz.

Mel my computer is 6 years old but my friend said it needs a cleaning out. The problem he has two kids who are in games all the time so hard for him to get to me.

I had fun at the vet dinner yesterday. There is a singing state trooper who sings for a lot of occasions and he sang at the vet dinner. He sang to me twice and the second time he sang Blue Xmas to me and I sang right back with him and everyone clapped.

We came home in the snow but it wasn't bad but today no church as roads are icy. Sun is out but Tues more snow that they say will go to a mix. I hate all this snow in Dec with so much to do and places to go.

I made the beds today and sheets in the washer and will put in the dryer. This way tomorrow I can go get the sr tickets for the xmas party.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts. I have bumped the nose a couple of times with my hand and it is sore to the touch. But is healing okay and no swelling. Guess that will come with the Plastic surgery on Wednesday.

Finnished my baby blanket yesterday...and started another one. No way I could cover up my nose so staying home for church. It is the Christmas music program today and I do hate to miss. Gurss I am vain...a bandaid won't cover and it is an ugly site.

Love you all,
Dot

Sharon, you got a lot done yesterday. I like and agree with your attitude of gratitude for the good days.

Elsie so happy the got Tim off the ventilator and hope he stays off and the fluid can be
treated and removed. Thanks for sharing what ever bits of news. Prayers. Belated Happy Birthday for your DGGD..

Dot glad all went well and know you look forward to a pretty nose tip. Glad no more MoHs on it.

Leona I did save that list of surveys etc you sent such a long time ago. Maybe things will settle down so I can get to it.

I just put out a 3' table tree , but do decorate the house. Still haven't done that. Yikes

Julie, your tree decorations sound interesting.

Frances I bet the tree smells wonderful and looks great. My X and i cut down our trees for the 6 years we lived in Utah. (Rocky Mountains) We lived at the of the mountains at that time.

Maureen when do you find time to decorate what with all the Christmas orders?

Betty you sure did a lot yesterday for having a cold. Hope you feel better soons.

Hugs all,
Lee

Leona, I have never driven so I rely on my kids and grandkids to take me. I used to use the bus but now just don't have the patience for it. The roads here are pretty good now and they should be pretty clear after today. It is supposed to be in the upper 30's. Yesterday was a nicer day. It was a little warmer and not windy. The sun was bright and it looked beautiful. I did my 60 minutes of walking and cleaned out and organized some of the things I have put together for the Boy's Ranch that are in the front porch closet. I also did some other little organizing projects and did some reading and a little cross stitching. It was a peaceful day and I am happy for every one of those that I have. Have a great Sunday.

Good Morning everyone,

I am skipping church this morning because of my cough..If it calms down, I might go to later mass. Just don't want to spread the germs.

I discovered a little gift I had picked up for Georgia earlier in the season and forgot about it...so I wrapped it and took it to the post office ..also stopped at the vets to pick up food for Mitzi...then a stop at the market for a few things...it was a light snow but traffic moved along. Glad to get home.

I had a little pearl pendent for my Great granddaughter.. It was such a small box that I put it into several larger boxes so it would look more impressive under the tree and be more fun for her to open.

My Christmas tree is a pull-up tree...It looks like a hula hoop with pine and you pull it up and put a rod in the center and you have a tree with lights. I just couldn't deal with the large trees anymore and this one loos pretty and festive.

As soon as I get rid of this cold I want to bake som crumb top cranberry bread to give to my neighbors.

Dot: So glad the surgery is over and went well.. You have such a great attitude..

Frances: How does the tree look? I bet you put a lot of handmade ornaments on it..

I always love the magic of Christmas...Smiles, Betty :)

Hi Ladies. Today was laundry day as usual. Had to go to laundromat to dry the clothes as my drier is not working . Either have to find a repairman or buy a new drier.
Carol have seen the fires on TV and wonder have some of the ones burning been set by arson or from lightening. Scary thought if someone is deliberately setting them.
Frances for sure the tree will be wonderful perfuming up the house.
Dot good to know the nose is okay and is cancer free.
Elsie great to hear Tim is off the vent and starting to eat soft foods. Hope the fluid gets removed from his lung. Prayers will continue. Love the picture with all the puppies and kittens. Hope you are able to get a good nights sleep too.
Time to go think about going to bed myself. Good Night and God Bless Sweet Dreams Stay Safe. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

very tired tonight..

Tim is off the ventilator for the time being at least. His left lung has filled with fluid so respiratory is doing very aggressive treatments hoping to clear the lungs so he doesn't have to be put back on the respirator. He did get to drink water and eat some applesauce. Most of the IV's have been discontinued. He still has a chest tube from the surgery Thursday to plate 3 of his ribs. He had drifted off to sleep just before I left so didn't say good bye to him as I didn't want to wake him.

my eating this past week has been so far out of whack...today is a great grandson's first birthday....only had a cupcake...

soon be going to bed....Elsie

For some unknown reason I slept nearly 8 hours last night--probably a record for me--and woke up feeling wonderful. However I missed those early couple hours that I have before everyone else wakes up and did not get into Spark and did not do my fitness tapes. Finally got to the fitness tapes about an hour ago, and got through all 3 of them, though the last is still a long way from good form.

Dot--I am so glad that you nose surgery went well. I wouldn't let it keep me home, though. A pretty scarf around the neck and lower face would be perfectly lovely.

Leona--I live in SW Florida and in a fixer upper house we moved into about 2 1/2 years ago. I put in shrubs all around the house, all along the fence in part of the back and side yards and an additional two large gardens. Most of it is shrubs but also a number of trees and flowers. My main goal is to provide plants for butterflies in this land of grass and palm trees!! I have a number of pictures of my gardens taken before and after IRMA on my spark page.

I love to read about all of your Christmas trees. I have a small artificial tree, a wreath that is decorated with official white house ornaments, and a ceramic manger scene that my mother painted when I was growing up. When I was a child, we always cut down a tree and every year my dad put a bigger, stronger stand under it and more and more wires to the walls, but our cat always managed to knock it over. She was a powerful twenty some pound cat who never bothered anything in our house except the Christmas tree.

Yesterday was a busy day. Chris had a doctor appointment at 10:45 and a couple of stops to make. Then we went to lunch (where I get the trivia paper), so some trivia and jokes for the next few days. After that, we went to the grocery.

After putting away groceries, I just sat the rest of the day. Always tired after that excursion.

Trivia #1 Question: What actress played the role of Princess Leia in the first Star Wars film?

Well, my brother left yesterday, so my life is back to my dull routine.

Roz, that must be nice to swim in the ocean whenever.

Dot, nice to hear you are cancer free and the surgery went well. Take care.

Lee, I had X-rays on my back last week as I have been having trouble sleeping due to pain shooting down my legs. They did not see an problems. Never tried Flexeril. But, I did take the foam mattress pad off my bed and went back to sleeping on a hard mattress. It seems to be working. Will give it a try for a week.

Frances, I am sure your home smells wonderful with a fresh tree. Love that smell. Sounds like you had a great adventure yesterday. I bet the children enjoyed it.

Camey, no I have no problem with a slow computer while on Spark.

Carol, that is sad that a person was trying to start a fire. Pray you stay safe and the fires are soon under control.

Rosie, I did eat breakfast, but still not dressed. Really don't have anything I have to do today, except make out Christmas cards and I can do that in my PJ,s. LoL

Leona, the pretzels sound wonderful. But, I am sure they would not last very long as I would be snacking all day long.

IrishEi, it sounds like you are getting some nice exercise. Water is always the greatest and easier on knees and etc.

It is almost noon, so I had better get off and hopefully get something done today.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
I like a chatty group and I see everyone is busy with Christmas prep or otherwise.
I still have to get a gift for my older daughter and youngest grand daughter..

One of our traditional Christmas drinks is sorrel and I have lots on my tree in the back yard which I will pick later this evening.

Went to a funeral yesterday and it was like a reunion seeing folks one had not seen for ages.. The person was a well known music teacher who played for many churches and schools,She was the organist at one of our churches.

I usually go to the market and grocery on Saturday mornings but didn't do market today.

Went swimming in the sea yesterday and i got a good workout.

Tomorrow is our Men's fellowship Christmas concert at church and I'm singing in the choir. I'm really looking forward to it as it is usually a fun time. It is free and many hampers will be given out..

Have a blessed time of day everyone,
Much Love,
Roz.

Good Morning,

I was able to take the dressing off my nose this morning and it is not pretty. However, it is cancer free and clear per the MOH's procedure. Next Wednesday I go to the Plastic surgeon to close up the MOH wound and make me pretty again...smile. Had a local and no pain even when it wore off. Had two procedures, and long waits in the waiting room for the results. I took one of my baby blankets I am knitting so the time went quickly. Had many people comment on the pink blanket.

The Pastor of my church just called me. He called and prayed for me yesterday morning early and called this morning to find out how I am. He is so sweet I told him would not be in church Sunday, they are doing the Christmas musical and would love to be there but guess I am vain and can't cover a nose. A bandaid is impossible, stuck on the tip of my nose even if
I could keep it stuck there. He laughed when I told him that. The Plastic Surgeon will operate on Wednesday and hopefully leave no scars. Then I will heal and be back to normal.
Thanks for your concern Frances and Leona.

Frances looking forward to seeing your live tree decorated sounds like a perfect tree. I will be finishing up decorating mine today...and the rest of the decorations.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Hugs and Blessings to all,
Dot

Good morning all. I took a Flexeril for my sciatica yesterday (after I ran errands) Never drive after one. Slept a part of the afternoon away. Took another before bed and helped but guess slept out. Raining with a cold front (39 they said). So will take one more about noon or after I have breakfast, maybe brunch. Nah just 9:30. It helps.

Dot I too hope you did well with your "nose job".

Leona yes, I did post that link a good while ago. It gives me chills. They don't make many stars like that anymore. Terrible to kick the young man out. I would think the other patrons would leave in protest. Not in today's world I guess.

Bet your tree is as beautiful as your back is sore Frances!

Rosie I hope you get done what you have plans for. I have been planning to decorate for a few days now. Maybe today I'll do some.

Irish glad you got to enjoy the lighting ceremony.

Carol I have a niece in San Diego and she tells me fire are about an hour north of her but hey have evacuation plans in case. Hope the winds stay lower or not at all. I like that "should do but don't really wanna.

I will be back later to get an update on Tim and Dot.

Hugs,

Good morning! Yesterday the family and I went out to cut a Christmas tree. My son-in-law, who is from Puerto Rico and has never cut a tree, got the honors - what a hoot! Turned out, he did well (with a little help from this old farm-gal) and now we have the most beautiful blue spruce - nearly perfectly symmetrical. Can't wait to decorate it today. Of course, all that hiking over hilly terrain - and helping move the tree - in rather chilly temperatures has left me pretty sore this morning. Tylenol will set me right, I expect.

I need to go to the store today, also, but we're supposed to have sleet/snow flurries and I really don't want to be out in that - especially as the first snow of the season almost guarantees a lot of incompetent drivers will be out crashing into things.

Leona, I use Goodreads, mostly to keep track of what I've read. I did try for one book a week this year and overshot by 6 or 8, I think, but I read a fair amount of mysteries/light fiction, which is very different from most non-fiction or "serous" fiction. It's probably more realistic to count pages read than books.

Dot, wondering how the surgery went and hoping you are well.

Everyone seems to be fully involved in holiday preparations. It all sounds so festive and fun! Wish we could travel around (tele-port) and visit one another at this time of year.

Morning ladies,

Excuse my yawning, I kept waking up most of the night and finally gave up about 5:30, feel tired before the day gets started emoticon

Today we don't have anything planned or I should say "must do's" so that means I need to start on my list of "should do but really don't wanna."

Maureen - I go to high tea, just once a year, it really starts of the holiday for me.

We are still under fire warning because everything is so dry and humidity is about 2%, plus there still are major fires going. They went looking for someone who tried to start a fire in Anaheim Hills (not far away) but when people saw him and yelled, he ran away, so the police were called but don't think they found him.

Have a healthy and a safe day emoticon

Leona, I was just thinking, I'm not going to get anything done, if I don't get up off my butt and get going, I still need to get dressed and eat breakfast , I guess I just need some of I don't know what lol emoticon Yes, I work, but it is just part time, and then there are some days that I have appoints. and other places and things to do, and you are so right about the days, they are so short, I think after some time this month later on the days begin to start to et longer? Seems to me that I remember my DD saying how much longer it stayed daylight, each night even if it was a few minutes or so.,, I am also on goodreads.com but, I very rarely if ever go there, I have never won any books on there how do I find you on there. I have however won books, but not on there. You mentioned winning an Amish book I love reading Amish books, that is mostly all I read. I do like other books, but stick with the Amish emoticon

Hello all,

Rosie- Sometimes it gets late at night and I know I have not done a project I was supposed to do like water the plants. I think getting dark so early is part of it. I used to make a list when the kids were small and it seemed to help me feel like I had accomplished something.
Remember you still work and that is a great accomplishment.

Sharon- Nice of your grandson. Do you still drive?
Are the roads cleared of ice there?

Betty- I bet it looks nice. emoticon

Julie- Where do you live? Pruning trees is a chore.

Irish- The Christmas Lighting ceremony must have been so nice to see. emoticon

Lee added a link on her post. Check it out. It was emotional to me. It is on her last post.

Maureen- It is goodreads.com and there are groups. I made the challenge to read 50 books this year, which is the amount I try to read each year. There are many groups and for some the challenge may be to read a book title by the alphabet or historical. I like the historical and cozy mysteries for example. I post my reviews, my books I read are there, I enter the contests to win a book, when I do a challenge the books are listed and there (like Spark) are chats.
When I win a book, I like to read and review. They no longer can require you to write a review because it is a win but I feel it is a courtesy to write one if I do win.
I am also on LibraryThing.com but not as involved.
Let me know what questions you have after you get in to the site. emoticon

Today I want to dip some pretzels in Ghirardelli white chocolate. My daughter said they are so good.

They are talking about the Army Navy game on FOX. I have to be for the Army as my father was in the Army. emoticon

I will check in later.
Take care,
Leona emoticon

I went to Silver sneaker twice this week and felt good. Went to PT and they want me to have 6 appointments for Water therapy since I had that Fall back in September. So I have 4 set up this month and will see how it goes. My knees are both feeling better since the fall, but the PT said it must have tightened up my hips, that is why I cannot bend like I did before. Hopefully this will help.
Going to a Christmas Candle lighting ceremony this afternoon for Bill. My youngest daughter Colleen is coming with me. Should be very nice.
Lee, Hope all is well with you. Merry Christmas and all the best to you as we prepare for the holiday and new year. God bless.

Yesterday was 31 degrees F. with clouds and very light wind. It wasn't a bad day. I did my 60 minutes walking and went grocery shopping with grandson. He had the day off so he was the one to take me and that got it done earlier than usual. I did some small cleaning things and sorting some more stuff. One day at a time and someday things will be in order again,. Have a great weekend.

Hi Ladies. busy day today, windy and quite cold. Did manage to get several orders delivered. Still have plenty to keep me busy . Truck has a new exhaust system on it. Had to replace a new winter tire. Screw nail in the edge of the sidewall. Had just had 4 winter tires put on about 4 or 5 weeks ago. Have sent the one to see if it is covered for road hazard. Had to have repaired as no spare, so not sure if it will be covered. Time will tell.
Leona do the 50 books come from one of your places for reviews or how does that work ? Are they a particular kind of book, like romance, western or just stories. I was curious as have not heard of a program requiring a person to read a special number of books in a year.
Jazzy enjoy visiting your GS and family. Do you like the new WW program? Congrats on the weight loss.
Carol sounds like the High Tea was a lot of fun. How often do you go to the Flex Class?
Elsie Hope Tim is soon off the vent. Have they been able to set the breaks in his legs? Prayers continue for him and the others here that need them. . Time to shut down and get ready for another busy day tomorrow. Good Night and God Bless Sweet Dreams Stay Safe. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Overdid a bit today. Somehow decided to prune about 8 feet off the top of a big bush that was here when I bought the house--some sort of native bush with small white flowers and purple berries that the bees and butterflies really love. It was pretty damaged by IRMA, but most of it survived. I used to be about 30 feet tall, but I prune it down to about 9-10 feet once a year.

I'm off to slumber land now--hope you all have a restful night.

Carol- What a nice get together. emoticon

I was also up real early again. Last night I got up around 1 AM because I had not gone to sleep and had a cookie and some milk and watched some Hallmark movie and then went back to bed.

Fires there are so terrible. I keep watching it on the news. emoticon

Jazzy- Group hugs are nice. emoticon emoticon
You will get to know us.

Rosie- Nice neighbor. emoticon

NAS- emoticon for the niece.

I got another book I won in the mail today. It is an Amish novel. emoticon

Lee- I watched the video and it was so emotional. If you have had it there for awhile, I did not notice it. I shared it on Facebook.

Did you see the young college student kicked out of a college coffee house because he was wearing a baseball cap with the American flag on it?

Betty- I have a small Christmas tree I put on the fireplace mantle and a Santa today. I wish I could fine the Naivety set I bought in Spain. It is small and would fit on the mantle. When I saw it in the store window I had to buy it.

Irish- Nice to see you post. emoticon

Doris- I have been making lots of cookies and freezing them as well as the dough.
Makes life easier and not as rushed.

My son bought the ribs at Costco yesterday. They were hard to find last year. Scandinavians have ribs,Swedish meatballs and Swedish Sausage as the main dishes. I will probably make the bar-b-q sauce next week. it is a recipe from my husband's mother.

We have Christmas Eve dinner as the Scandinavians do. When I was a child we had a turkey on Christmas Day. My mother was Italian.

emoticon and emoticon sent to ones who need it.

Take care,
Leona emoticon

Great that Tim is responding, my brother and I have a friend, (went to school with him) this past summer, his son was in a Bicycle accident, ended up about the same way as Tim here, he was in the hospital for quite some time and at first they did not know if he would make it, have been having prayer for him, and it has been working, he still is recuperating, and still has a long way to go, Prayer works and we'll continue to emoticon for Tim

We got quite a bit of snow yesterday, my neighbor snow blowed my driveway,
I worked today and go back on Sun.

Morning ladies,

LOL, well I have been up since 5:15 and just finished my coffee. This morning, one item led me into another and my regular early AM schedule, disappeared. But it is only 8:15, so I sure can get it back.

Stretch and Flex today and a run to Costco, the refrig is looking bare. Had a wonderful time at High Tea yesterday, there were 54 women and we took the entire area that overlooks the ocean. We laughed and got to know everyone at our table of 8. Oh my, the munchies , if I had been smart, would have brought a beach bag with a plastic lining and just shoved the munchies in it.

The fires are still roaring and the devastation is beyond words.

Waving to all emoticon

Hello on Friday.

Yes, everyone sounds busy and jolly as it should be, on these holidays upcoming!.
I am so pleased that Tim is rallying and I wish all good things for his complete recovery.

I missed yesterday as I did get to the school at 8:30 and had my readings from Rayshawn. There will be only one more before the holiday and I have a package for him next week.

My food shopping took over an hour, so crowded, and after I made it up to my second floor with the overfilled cart, my back really felt the strain. I rested it a bit and then decided to bake Gingerbread. I will freeze most of it today and we will have it for one dessert when my daughter and family are here for the holidays.

I am tempted to try something new for Christmas Eve, that is is the baking category, but have not yet decided just what.

I must get to the cookie making right now or the day will 'slip' away with nothing accomplished. I will make only Butter Crescents today and save another recipe for Sunday.
Tomorrow we are to meet for the writers club, however, we are expecting at least an inch of snow by morning and I should not travel early with the auto as I have to take the Interstate to get there. Time will tell!

Wishing you all peaceful days...Do not overdo... Love, Doris emoticon emoticon emoticon

Just got back from church. Holy day. Day Mary went up to Heaven I think. I can't keep track anymore. Not sure what I will make for lunch. Might make broccoli, chicken, and pasta.

We are supposed to go to the vet free turkey dinner Sat but expecting snow 3 to 6 inches so not sure if we will still go.

I have to do my bike and I am tired. I wanted to sleep this morning but had to get up for the church.

Time is going so fast.

Good morning all.

Jazzy have a great trip and enjoy your family. Congrats on the 3 lb loss.

Ei..so nice to see you here again.. Merry Christmas to you as well.

Roz we are getting to be an international group with you as a resident of Trinidad and NAS in Bangladesh. Wow. and fun to learn about your parts of the world.

Frances enjoyed reading yesterday's note, note, note. lol

Elsie so glad to here of improvement for Tim. I hope they can get him off the tube soon. That will be among my prayers for today.

Sharon, all I can say is BRRR! I don't think I could take the cold again.

Again Frainces. WOW on the 12,000 ancestors. That you found the the time and patience is remarkable.

Rosie, my son Brian also has Fibromyalgia on to of everything else Not nice. Will add that to prayers for your DG

Leona and Julie I am keeping my car as well. I hope they don't get the driverless cars anytime soon. I have enough trouble driving defensively. I guess they said that when horses were replaced by autos. But I see no reason for it all to go to all that extent to change roads for them and taxpayers pay. I guess they don't do well with potholes etc.

Hugs for all for now.

Hello all,

Elsie- Wonderful that Tim is making some progress. emoticon

Julie- I will also keep my car. Thanks for the laugh about being 107. emoticon You never know.

Frances- emoticon You encourage others so much.

I stand back when I pull things down as I had also been hit. My mother told me one time she took some ground beef out of the freezer and it hit her on the foot. I still cringe when I think about that.

I saw where they were getting horses in California to safety. I really feel for those people. Safety emoticon for all the brave firefighters.

When I post the bonus points, I think of Helen as she always seemed to get big bonus points. She was a special lady. emoticon

Supposed to snow tonight.

Everyone-Cleaning, dusting and sweeping counts as exercise you know. emoticon

I will do some more crocheting today and some reading. I am behind on my book challenge on goodreads and not sure if I will make the 50 books to read this year. emoticon

Take care,
Leona

I am keeping Tim in my prayers and hope that he will soon be breathing on his own.
Yesterday started out at about 6 degrees F. and it did warm to the 20's. I did my 60 minutes of walking and the rest of the day was a bust. I was so tired that I slept off and on in my chair all day. I guess we all need days like that. Hope today is better.

Tim is still on a vent in ICU.....an attempt today to take him off the vent was unsuccessful. He did have one surgery to have 3 of his ribs plated so they won't damage his heart and hopefully the pain will lessen. He is moving all 4 extremities and will answer yes and no questions by nodding his head appropriately. Progress is slow but he is getting there...Thanks for all the prayers...Elsie

Just read through all the postings today. What interesting information---between what we all have done and are doing and will do, there must be material for a novel!!!

Concerning driverless cars, I heard over NPR that Florida already has a plan for their use and there is some regulation that any time a new road is made or a road is extensively remade, provision must be made for these cars. A major testing site will be near Tampa. I think that they are a wonderful idea, but would never trust one myself.

I drive a Prius which I bought used in 2005 and unless the Tesla gets affordable, I intend to keep the Prius for the rest of my life. It now has 109000+ miles and I should be able to get about 250000 on it. Since I'm averaging about 8000 miles per year, it will take me about 31 years to get to 250000. By then I'll be 107 and probably needing a driverless car or a chariot to get around.

I spent the last couple days sweeping, and have now swept the screens around the pool on both the inside and the outside and swept nearly all of the outside of the house. I hope to finish the sweeping and tomorrow and have about 4 windows that still need washing. Then all the glass (windows, doors, mirrors) inside and outside will be done.

Julie

Hi ladies, I'm late tonight and tired after sorting and getting the parcels ready today. The extra 3 cartons missing yesterday showed up about 3.45p.m. this afternoon. Had to stamp the new brochures with my name and number with the date for January 2018.
The temperature is down in the 20s. Forgot to look at the Temp today ,just know there is about 5 inches of snow out side on the driveway and yard. Shoveled a path so the mail and paper boy could get to the mail box. DH took my truck to get the exhaust system repaired and was gone most of the day. Had to borrow a car from the shop to get home as my truck was not complete.
Prayers for all who need them are as always ready. Time for me to get ready for bed before I fall asleep here. Good Night and God Bless. Sweet Dreams Stay Safe. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen

Leona, be careful knocking things down that way, also. I've been "beaned" on the head doing exactly that.

I really just stopped in because, tonight, I hit 12,000 people on my family tree! I've been working on a line that branched off back in the early 1800s, then emigrated to Chicago, into Missouri, Kansas and Texas (so far). These are now 5th cousins - still well within the DNA range, but certainly not "close cousins." Anyhow, I'm celebrating emoticon and going to watch "The Great American Baking Show" or "Top Chef" both of which start tonight. Feet going up....

Hello all,

They are talking about the Olympics on FOX. Russia will not be there. I had forgotten that Carter did not send us in 1980. Too bad it is so much politics. emoticon

I was watching The Mummy with Boris Karloff. He really had a voice, I think, that matched his movies. emoticon

Carol- High Tea. Nice. emoticon

I saw the fires are near San Diego.

Rosie- emoticon for both of you.

Frances- Better than losing all of the posts. Funny it happened. emoticon

New members please keep chatting with us. You will soon get to know us.

Yesterday I used my cane and pulled down food from the very top shelf and threw away expired. I am forbidden to get on a step stool unless someone is here. I do a pretty good job on the shelves that are lower. It was dry goods and no cans or jars but getting old.

The lake iced over more with the very cold temps but still open in parts of the lake. I am staying home. Because there was rain and the snow and then cold, the roads are still not great. Sunday should be inn the 30s and better.

Take care,
Leona emoticon

I don't know how I feel about driver-less cars yet, but just think: can they really be any worse than some of the (many) idiots on the road these days? emoticon

As for our Santa's Workshop activity: We managed to assemble a wagon full of gifts, Santa's toy bench, and a Christmas tree - plus at least a dozen figures and countless gifts and toys (stickers affixed to foam cut-outs), before we decided the project is more than a one-time proposition. We'll work on it again, tomorrow.

Also ran out to pick up the car from the garage and take-out for lunch. Now the kids are getting ready for their annual photo-shoot. I'm not crazy about the posed pictures, but their parents like them - and it's cute to see them all dressed up in their Christmas finery.

Roz, I think I missed your arrival on the team. Welcome! When I lived in Toronto, I had a very good friend who came (to Canada) from Trinidad. She introduced me to so many new foods and customs and we always had good times together. Miss her a lot. Anyhow - I am Frances, mother of 3, grandmother of 9. I live (mostly) in the northern tip of Virginia and (sometimes) in upstate New York. When I'm not running around like the proverbial chicken, I sew, knit, garden, quilt, walk/hike, cook and bake. Also read (excessively) and do genealogy (also excessively, according to some).

Dot, good luck with your surgery. I'm sure it will be fairly painless and certainly hope that for you.

I found a how-to video on youtube that I think shows the boxes my friend, Sophie, used to make. It's at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfzsml06cF
g
There are a couple of other videos using old greeting cards for boxes and other projects, as well, if anyone is interested.

There are a couple of other videos using old greeting cards for boxes and other projects, as well, if anyone is interested.

Got the wash done and ironed drapes and DH put them up. Bike done too and once the mail is done I am going to lie down and watch a Christmas musical show.

I have church tomorrow a holy day so I will be holy going tomorrow and Sunday.

We got the wine for the family party and took it to my son's house now have to get the tonic. That is my job.

Expecting snow Sat afternoon into night and early Sunday, a dusting so they say. But how can it be a dusting if it snows that long? I don't want snow for Xmas where I have to travel.

Az is doing what they can for the fires in CA. They sent out 25 firetrucks and firefighters to battle the fires. So sad.

Carol, is your air getting the smoke from the fires?

Rosie, I will put Darci in my prayers. I have a DD who has similar health problems.

Dot, I read that your shoulders are one part of your body that does not age. So the cold shoulder tops look good on all ages. I am sure your look great in yours.
You are in my prayers for your surgery tomorrow.

Nas, hope you wake up feeling better. Take care.

Leona, I don't trust driverless cars either. But, they would be nice as we get older and cannot drive. One would never have to depend on others to drive.

Frances, wow, a 10 day break for you. I am sure you are full of plans. I just went through my cupboards and threw out out dated items. I need to be careful that I only buy what I need.

Sue, my SIL in Southern Wisconsin (between Beloit and Janesville) put on FB this morning of the light snow. She said it was disappearing. Hope your disappears also.

Before I close, I need to welcome Roz. I am Mel and I live in Arizona. Hope you join us often in our chats. I also lost my DH almost 5 years ago. Will be 5 in May 2018. It is hard getting rid of his things.

I don't save cards. I keep them for one year. This year I will send cards only to those who sent me cards last year.

Time to close. Have some errands to run and then go hear Drew (DGD) sing in Winter Concert at her school. Then out to dinner with my brother. He will be leaving tomorrow.

It really is bad out in Cal. I do have some 2nd cousins in Cal. but, I don't think they are near the fires, my aunt and uncle have been gone for years now and their DD is also gone their son moved to Ill. some time back and it is their children that do live in Cal. I need to be thankful, that it is only snow I have to deal with right now, and I dislike shoveling and it has been snowing this morning, emoticon emoticon for those in the path of the fire.

Darci also has health issues, she has Fibermaglosis, (spelling) is on disability as she also has back problems and had surgery back in 2009 and has had a couple of hernia surgeries recently wich became infected what a mess Thank you all for the prayers, I'll have Tim and others in emoticon as well

Morning ladies,

The fires continue to be out of control with 1 of them burning over 90K acres. People lost everything and many have horse ranches and the horses also died. It is on the news 24/7 and the winds will continue until tomorrow night.

This afternoon I have High Tea at the Ritz Carleton. My financial planner takes the women clients every year. My DD is my guest and she loves it.

Nas - take care, hope you feel better soon
Leona - I am with you on driverless cars....don't trust them
Francis - those kids you watch are so lucky to have you, their parents are so fortunate also.
Marlene - glad you received a good cardio report
Roz - Trinidad didn't get hit with the hurricane did it?

Stay healthy, stay safe emoticon

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

Don't make todays choices be tomorrows regret

Good Morning All,

Leona I like your messages with the added Emoticons, you always do it so well. I have never been to Trindad either Roz...tell us more about where you live. Think we would all find it interesting. So glad you are posting and getting to know us and we you. It will not take long before you get to know everyone who posts and will feel at home. Just keep coming back to post every day.

The fires in Ca. are terrible and I feel for those whose home has been lost. Irma, the hurricane that came a bit to close for comfort this year reminded me how fortunate we are when the weather does not touch our homes. All I can hope for those in the fires path is they have insurance...I am sure it is expensive but know way you can survive without it. We in our area escaped the storm this year and we all are truly thankful.

Rosie, Darci is on my prayer list, along with Tim, Mickey, and all of you.

Leona, bought one of those tops you mentioned with the cut outs on the upper long sleeve...it is a small floral in royal blue and white. It is a Cotten and really very comfortable and dressy. I have gotten so many compliments when I wear it. I had debated on buying it, but am one of those people that like to be fashionable. As you said, this style is really in right now. It shows just the back of the upper arm and mine are not to wrinkled...I lifted weights for years. Don't do to much of it anymore.

Enjoy your day, I am off to Walmart to buy some more baby yarn. Doris how wonderful that you had all that yarn given to you. I liked that! Enjoyed your message and always do. You make my mouth water telling about the foods you prepare with such love always for others.

Tomorrow is my appointment with the Dermatologist who will be doing the prep to rid my nose of the basil cell cancer. Have to be there by 8:00am and sometimes this can be a lengthy procedure I have been told. So talking my knitting with me and a book on my kindle. Will let you know how it was later in the day or maybe the next day. Thanks for a prayer that it will not. be too sore.

Hugs and Blessings ,
Dot
