Val that is wonderful news. I am glad things are moving along "fairly quickly". I just do not like debit cards for that reason. As Gail said, when I had problems with my CC it was quickly taken care of.
Gail how great to have your D-I-L to help you tomorrow and I am sure you enjoy having the company also. Sorry to hear about the difficulties with her sister.
Sandy how great to start your own company and be able to make a little $$$. Real estate is doing so much better out your way than down here. Hope you get the garage cleaned out and the cars inside before the storms start.
We went to our Wed breakfast this morning and had 16-the snowbirds are returning. It is nice to see them again. Our community is filling up and before long all the birds will be back in the coop.
After breakfast, we stopped at CVS, Publix, Target, the jewelry store to get a battery for DH's watch and Goodwill. before arriving home about 10 min before my brother arrived for a visit. He rode his Harley down from Jacksonville and we had a nice visit and then took him to lunch. I had my mammogram scheduled for today and didn't want to reschedule since this time of year it is hard to get in. What a fiasco that was-I just went on Medicare last year and paid for my own mammo but they weren't sure if Medicare would pay since it was a few days short of 1yr and 1 day. They finally got that cleared up (I had told them when I made the appt. about this so thought things were ok) and over an hr later I got my test. I was scheduled for a bone density test tomorrow but since they did all this, they went ahead and worked me in today. It was 3:30 when I finally got back home and I had gotten there at 1:30. My brother had headed on home so he would not get into rush hour traffic so I missed having more of a visit with him because of all of this.
DH is still having major issues - wishing Mon would get here so he can get into the new urologist. If it gets any worse, he is going to Urgent Care or the ER-one can't live in pain all the time!

Val - That is great news for you.

Well, I am trying to finish thing up in the garage today so that we can get the cars in the garage by next week. It looks like we have a storm pattern that will start early next week and then continue. DH wants to get the cars cleaned up and then put in the garage to keep them clean. We are off to do errors now so hope that everyone has a great day.

Sandy: Wow! That's so ambitious of you starting a new business. The very best of luck to you.

Val: So glad your cards came in the mail and you can now go on with your life. When I had the fraudulent use of my credit card the bank simply credited my account. It was quick.

Mary and Tammy: How are you guys doing? Thinking of you and hoping you post again soon.

My daughter-in-law called me yesterday afternoon and asked if she could spend the night. She is still looking after her sister and it's tough going. Her sister is bipolar and it's a chore to get her to take her meds. Also, she is not dealing with the realities of her life. My poor dil can't stay here in WI forever, but she is worried about her sister and feels she cannot yet return to NC. She took me to dinner last night and will be helping me today, raking, packing music scores, and totaling up my donations YTD. I've got a lot of donations for Hospice and the University of WI Friends of the Memorial Library, as well as donations to our local community radio, the Rape Crisis Center, Easter Seals, etc.

The weather here has been quite cool and gray. It will be gray most of the time for many months to come. UGH!

Wishing you all a good day,

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Well I got my new credit card and debit card in the mail today. That was quick. I faxed the form to the fraud department at my bank and supposedly after they do their investigation I should have my money back in my account in 3 days. I don't know how long their investigation is going to take but I can't see them not finding in my favor in the end. From now on I only use my debit card to make purchases where I can see the person checking me out, no more using it online. What a hassle this has been, but at least things are moving forward now.

I had a pretty decent day today and I hope that the rest of you did, too. I don't really have much else to say so I'm going to sign off and go to bed. Have a great Wednesday. emoticon

Pat - That is great news about your bathroom. Glad you got your water back so quickly.

Gail - Be more than happy to come and help you. If I lived close to you I'd be there in a flash.

Nana - Hope that you had a great day.

Val - Good luck on your new work schedule. I hope that everything works out with the bank here soon and that you hear some quickly.

Well, I had lunch with my friend today and I am going to start a cleaning business where I am cleaning homes that are going to go on the Market for Sale. These are ones that have no furniture in them or have been flipped. I will come in and clean them up and make them presentable for the clients. I will be working more with the Realtors. DH will be helping with the bits and getting supplies and transportation. Right now it seems that it is about $ 250 - 350 a house. I am going to make business cards for us and get them to my friend so she can hand them out. So, I am excite about that. Tomorrow DH & I are going to go to Lowe's and order the new vanity for the half bath and do a few errors. It is to start to rain again here tomorrow and we are suppose to get snow in the mountains also. emoticon

Hope everyone his having a good week. Hey everyone! Halloween is almost here and there is still time to join in on the Halloween Challenge. emoticon

Gail, the TV in my bedroom is a very small one...and it's sitting on top of a DVD/VCR that I have just never bothered to set up. In the other bedroom there is a larger television which has a DVD sitting on the shelf below it...you guessed it, not set up. I've thought to myself many times that I should just go ahead and set one of them up but there are various reasons why that would be complicated, and so I just haven't done it. I really should just get one of those DVR's that you can get through Comcast. They would set it up for me and I could record the races in case I fall asleep watching them. I guess I don't care as much about it as I used to because I've let the situation go on for a couple of years.

I got the form from the bank in the mail on Saturday and I'm going to fax it to them from work on my break today. I don't know what the outcome is going to be, but I guess I should know in another week or two. What a pain in the hind end... emoticon I'm getting ready to start my new work week in another hour or so, nothing more to report right now. I hope that the week is going okay so far for the rest of you.

There was much rejoicing!

Good morning everyone. I am a bit "loopy" today-up late for the ballgame-boo hoo-we lost! Up early to walk and be ready for our "workman" to return to finish the bathroom. DH went to his usual Tues coffee and donuts. I walked for about an hour and did about 2.5 miles. I will need to get out again later to finish up my steps.
Our water is shut off in the whole community today so things are kinda funky here. I am not sure what I should be doing-don't want to get dirty or sweaty as not easy to wash up so I have been reading! Guess it is OK for me to have a "lazy" day! DH just said water is back on so that is a a plus-at least for the toilet! We still have to boil water till we get the all clear which will take a couple of days for that.
Gail-the dr we need to see if the urologist and the gastrologist and he has the appointment with the urologist next Mon (2nd opinion) and still waiting on gastro to set up the appt. Hoping they call today as he is miserable. The primary and nephrologist think he may have a source of infection near the prostrate and want that checked out. We are finding if he takes Tylenol it is giving him diarrhea and that is something new. He can't take any other medicine for the pain so that leaves him in the lurch. Bless his heart, he keeps going so that is something. He is also hurting where he pulled the groin last winter doing exercises for his hip with that heavy boot. May have to see the orthopedic dr if this continues.
Bathroom is coming along-the doors are almost ready to be installed-walls up the he is doing the trim on that right now I think another couple of hours and that job will be completed.

Sandy: You are a wonder! Down to 10 boxes, eh, want to come help me? Actually, tomorrow hospice volunteers are coming and they'll be taking several bookcases. WOO HOO!

Pat: It's horrible that your DH is having such a bad time with your health. Isn't anything they can do to get him in to see a nephrologist sooner? Perhaps he can be on a waiting list in case someone cancels.

Val: Are you able to tape the TV shows you want to see? Shame that you didn't see your favorite racer win.

Enjoy each day.

What a crazy day. We were up very late watching the ballgame and BUMMER, the Cards lost! I got up at 6:30 so I could walk early. The service guy for Bathfitters was to arrive between 8 and 10 so wanted one of us to be here. I got home a little before 8 and DH & Sonny & Abbie headed out. Of course, the tech did not arrive until 10! While they walked, I worked on cleaning out more paperwork. DH swears I just work hard to fill up the trash can!!! He is probably right but at least more stuff is now gone and more has been sorted to shred!
I also dusted our bedroom and cleaned some in the bathroom-hopefully won't take too much to put it all back together when it is done.
I sorted coupons and pitched the ones that were expired and I went thru restaurant coupons and pitched those also. My refrigerator looks a lot better-not full of coupons hanging on it! We don't use them too often, but hang on to them, Just in Case!!
DH had to go to the nephrologist at 11:30 so Vicky & Sonny arrived at 11:15 to housesit. We were back home before 12 so it was a quick visit fo us. His creatinine was in the normal range this check so dr was very happy. He thinks DH should also see the gastro dr so when we got home, I called our primary and asked what happened to the referral he gave over 2 wks ago when he saw DH. Well, somehow it never got faxed over so now it supposedly has gone over so waiting on them to call. DH will not have to see the nephrologist for 6 mo.
This afternoon I read some on my e-book so working on getting done with 1 of them. I am about 1/3 done with this one. Guess I will read some more tomorrow while the tech works. He has the tub out, has changed the plumbing, and base installed. He needs more plywood to fill in where the tub was so will bring that tomorrow. He says he will be here by 8:30 tomorrow and should be done by noon. The walls are sitting in our carport ready to install. We are looking forward to getting it done. I have to say he has really kept things neat-no mess for me to clean up.
DH is sleeping so best wake him up-almost time to watch the ballgame!!!
Pat

Val: I'm so sorry for all you are going through. I had my wallet stolen and the thief used my credit card at Target. It was horrible, especially since I was still taking care of Victor. It finally worked out, but not without a lot of effort and aggravation.

Pat: Sorry you didn't score more steps; it must be maddening.

I made apple sauce and a meat loaf today and will be freezing it after it cools. It's really so nice to just nuke something for a meal. I've lots and lots of organic apples that were given to me by my daughter-in-law's mother. They are keeping nicely in the garage, a nice thing because they would have filled up my fridge.

Wishing you all a good day.

Gail

emoticon On Saturday I got a form in the mail from my bank that I'm supposed to fill out and send back to them as I try to get back the $1337.50 that was fraudulently taken from my bank account on October 17th. One of the things on the form/affidavit is a line asking if who I've contacted trying to fix this and what the outcome was. So this morning I called Verizon Wireless, which is the company that appears to have been the recipient of the 5 fraudulent charges made to my bank account. I was on hold for more than 30 minutes, which made me remember one of the reasons why I no longer use Verizon. I was told that they can not help me because I do not have an account with them. emoticon (Hint to all: there are more reasons than just the time you'll waste on hold for NOT choosing Verizon for your cell phone business. They have great call quality but the company really sucks.)

So I'm done with that for today. I'll fill out the affidavit form my bank sent me and fax it to them from work tomorrow. With any luck I'll see my $1300 again in this lifetime. For the rest of today I need to go to Wal Mart and the Post Office. Then I can come home and just relax for the rest of the day. Oh, Walgreens, too.

Working the night shift was okay, though I'm glad that I don't have to do it particularly often. I came home after work, ate breakfast and then watched the beginning of a NASCAR race. I couldn't stay awake for much of it, though I did wake up just in time to watch the last 5 minutes and see my favorite driver win his first race in over a year. Wish I'd been able to stay awake and watch it now, but who would have known that he was ever going to come up with another win? I'm probably going to work one more night shift next month, and then hopefully never again. I'm sure the extra money will be nice (especially considering that I've got so darn much of it missing right now) but feeling this way for two days just isn't worth it.

I hope the week is stating out well for the rest of you.

There was much rejoicing!

It registered about 450 steps which wasn't even close to a mile! Guess climbing into the washer and going round and round is not the way to get ones steps! emoticon
Val hope you have had a good day today-after working the night shift, I imagine you have slept a good part of the day. That is kind of a bummer since you will really only have Mon as a day to do things now. So sorry to hear about your friend. Glad you are there for her and going to lunches - I am sure she appreciates that.
I had a full day planned but as you know, things change in an instant. We stayed up late to watch the ballgame so slept in this morning. I didn't get out to walk until 8:30 so didn't get home for breakfast until almost 10. After we ate, I went in to work on my ironing and had planned to get it done and then clean out the bathroom in preparation of the bathroom work tomorrow. Well, Vicky & Sonny dropped by and visited for about 45 min and we decided to play cards this afternoon soooo I had to hustle. I fixed us lunch and then needed to go pick up my medicine at Target. Imagine my shock when the tech told me $92.31. My 2 meds are usually $20 total for a 90 day supply. They took one of the drugs off the $10 drug list and it was now over $80. Well, that drug is still there. I will be calling my dr to see if he feels it is ok to prescribe another one that is on their $10 list! I will check at Wal-Mart to see if it is still on their $10 list so I have options.
The boys wiped the floor with us today-we gals had no luck at all at cards. After they left, I got the rest of the ironing finished and scanned the Sunday papers before meeting Vicky to put out some more decorations in the park. We had previously purchased 2 metal flowers that we hung on shepherd hooks and we had rescued an angel that another lady had painted and it turned out lovely. She did a wonderful job.
We had leftovers for supper and after whizzing thru the Nascar race, we are now watching the Cards play. What a game last night.

I'm getting ready to leave to go to work in a few minutes. My friend and I had a fun "lunch" this afternoon, though we were the only two who showed up. The guy we were doing it on a Saturday for got called in to work this morning but I'm probably going to work a night shift on a Saturday next month so we can try to work it out to get together with him at that time.

The friend I got together with this afternoon is having some issues with a pathologist who has been writing reports on her CT scans and things like that. She doesn't like the fact that he wrote the most recent report in a different manner than all of the others, to which I would generally say "oh well." But what she really doesn't like is the fact that on this most recent report he says that there were a couple of spots in one of her lungs. So she wants to ask her oncologist to have a second person look at the scans and she was asking me if I thought that was allowable. Well of course it is! You can always ask for a second opinion or a second person to read your scans, though insurance won't always cover it. But I think that the real bottom line is that her cancer may be spreading and she doesn't want to accept that possibility. Of course I didn't say that to her, but it did make me feel sad for her. emoticon

Gail, what a not fun bunch of photos to find in Vic's stuff. I'm sure that he had his reasons for keeping them and I'm sure that one of the universities will be pleased to have you donate them, but I know they must have been really hard for you to discover and have to look at. My late husband was always reading books about Hitler and the Nazis, and he was thrilled when he would find one that had information and pictures that he hadn't seen before. He told me that it was because he wasn't going to allow something like that to ever happen again without anyone speaking up about it. Maybe that's why Vic had those pictures? I believe that you are Jewish, so perhaps he was trying to document things that happened to "his people" at that time. Doesn't make it easier even if I am correct, but it might explain why he had those devastating photographs.

Anyway, off of that depressing subject and on to another...working on a Saturday night. I hope that you're all having a great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Val hope your day went as planned and the night shift worked out ok for you and then you can have your 2 days off!
Sandy it sound like you have come up with the perfect solution. I had a pedestal sink back in STL and never really cared for it. Some people really like them but like you, I like my storage!
Gail that find had to be so hard. I am sure all this will be good for history but not pleasant to look at. I guess every little bit you get thru is that much closer to being done with all of this.
Today DH went to a few yard sales with his buddies and I stayed home as I didn't see any that really interested me. I walked and forgot to put on my FITBIT. When I went looking for it I realized it was still on my bra strap and I had started a load of laundry! Yikes. You know that little thing took a licking and kept on ticking! So far it is still running fine. I dried it off really good and didn't know anything else I could do for it.
I got the last of the roses trimmed in the park and did mine out back today. I also gave Abbie a bath, did our linens and a few clothes, managed to get some ironing done and even read a couple of chapters. I have 3 e-books checked out so have to get them read before the library zaps them back! I have 3 more on hold but who knows when those will be available. I will try to read some every day so I can get them read before that happens!
DH has not felt great so Mon we are going to try to get him set up with another urologist for a 2nd opinion. We also have the workmen coming to install the shower, DH has an appt. with his nephrologist so it is going to be a busy start to the week!

Good Morning:

Well, it has been quite an eventful morning. I went through some boxes of my father-in-law's and separated trash from archival materials. Pictures or mementos were in one stash; significant historical materials went in another. I was going through pictures and came upon a few envelopes with some photos that were not of the family. I really lost it when I saw what they were...photos of children and adults in the camps and ghettos in 1943; men on their knees waiting to be shot, etc. I could barely look at them. I also came across photos of a Polish document that describes conditions in the various ghettos in Poland. I just glanced at this and set it aside.

I'm going to get dressed and run a few errands. There is nothing more to be done today.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Thank you Pat.

Well, I think we final decided what to do about the downstairs half bathroom. We were going to put a cupboard up on the wall. But, the more we thought about it if we put over the toilet someone would hit their head ( our son is 6' 3") and if we put up higher I'd need a higher step stool. Then thought was to put it in the corner but the same thing. The reason for it was they had a Pedestal sink so there is no storage. So, now we are going to change out the Pedestal sink for one that has storage under it so I can put TP and extra towels. Then that room is done. My Wall Oven will be installed the week of Nov. 11th. It arrives at Lowe's Nov. 8th.

I hope that everyone is having a great weekend. emoticon

Well my week is mostly over now. Just one more day, and it's actually going to be a night shift. A little bit of overtime for me tomorrow and a little bit of extra money for working on the night shift. So tomorrow I'm going to get up a little bit earlier than usual and go to lunch with my Monday lunch friend and another coworker who has been wanting to go with us if we ever went to lunch on a Friday or Saturday. Then I'll come home and take a nap, and then go to work at 9:30 in the evening. I've never worked a night shift since I started working at this site so it should be interesting.

Work has been crazy this week...but at least I'm never bored. emoticon I hope that all of you have plans for a fabulous weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy it sounds like you will have things in order in no time at all. I am in your corner though, I can't wait to get things put up.
I have been busy here today trying to get caught up - only gone 4 days but it is amazing how much one needs to get done. I got one big project taken care of-I went online and did the comparison on Part D drug plans for both of us and I am changing mine but DH will stay where he is. I also went online to check where DH's meds were. I had ordered them over 2 weeks ago and we had a call a few days before we left that they had shipped so expected them to arrive while we were gone. Lo and behold, when I check, there was nothing showing it had been shipped! I talked to a rep last time since it would not let me order them online so not sure what happened but I have a confirmation this time and again I had to call! For some reason it will not let me order his drugs online or at least some of them! Hopefully they will show up in a week or so!
Hope all of you have a good weekend.

Pat - Glad that you had a good time but, sorry to hear about your friend.

Tammy - When it comes to moving I have gotten pretty good at it over the years. As a kid we moved a lot. Then I moved a lot when I got older. But, I am not planning on moving again. I Hope ! I just don't like having things in boxes and if I am not going to use them then it is time to get rid of them.

Val - Hope things have gone better for you the rest of this week.

Gail - Sounds like you are making great progress.

I have order my new wall oven and it was on sale plus I got another $ 25.00 off. And the guy that installed the cook top and dishwasher is the same guy that will install my oven. So, I my set. He will take the microwave out for me for no charge. Been busy finishing cleaning the last of the shelves in the kitchen today and then was able to line them and put the dishes in. I am down to about 20 boxes now. So, not doing to bad.I have tossed out a few things and have a few things to put on EBay. I have give a few things to friends that I know that they use or need.

Well, I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend. emoticon

I'm back!!! We left home Mon at 6:40 and got home this afternoon at 4:30. We had beautiful weather but much cooler. This morning it was 39 in Atlanta and we were just south of there overnite. The leaves were beautiful along the Blue Ridge Parkway. That was such a lovely drive. I will try to get pics posted soon. It has been crazy since we got home. Phone has been ringing, friends dropping by, had to make some calla and of course, had to go get Abbie!
The shower folks were trying to ahold of us while we were gone-they will be out Mon and Tues to install the new shower. Didn't expect it for at least another week so will be glad to get that done.
A friend called to let us know one of our camping friends had passed away so had to send e-mails to everyone I had addresses for and called a few so anyone who wants to can send his wife a sympathy card. We had a very close group where we wintered for 6 years.
I am tired so will try to catch up with all of you now that I am back.

evening everyone, hope you all are doing good, I am tired tonight, I think I will go to bed early to try to get caught up on my sleep. I seem to be in a slump with my eating, I hope I get out of it soon. I am going to weigh in tomorrow and we will see just how bad it is.
Gail that's good you got rid of more stuff.
Val that's terrible, I hope you get it all straightened out.
Sandy it sounds like you are moving along on your house, I am in a slump with that also, its been a year since we moved in and I still have boxes to unpack and pictures to hang.
Pat must be on her trip, hope she is enjoying it.
Have a good evening

Good morning;

Well, a man from the UW came yesterday evening and took all of the chemistry glassware and paraphernalia that Vic had stored in the basement. He will get me something from the university that attests to the fact that I donated these things, and he'll give me an estimated value so that I can claim it as a deduction for tax purposes. Some boxes that I thought had chem stuff had household items and clothes. Those things will go to the hospice thrift shop.

The food is still on track. I made another batch of bean, vegetable and meat soup yesterday and froze most of it. It's great for days such as we've been having.

Hope you are all doing well.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Val - I hope that everything gets straight out for you. That is the worse thing to happen.

I have gotten rid of a few more boxes today and did some laundry. I was able to hang some pictures and fixed the washer from wobbling. Still cleaning out cupboards of spices only have 2 more to do. Sent DH out to play golf today as he really needed the break after being sick and all the work.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Because of what happened with my debit card I've decided to check each one of my credit cards online every few days to make sure that none of them gets hijacked for fraud. Well today I checked them all...and that card with the $300 credit limit that I was going to use for online purchases so that nobody can get access to $1200 at my expense again got hacked! There was a charge for $100 at a Wal Mart in Arkansas. I called the credit card company to check and see what was going on because I know that Wal Mart is based in Arkansas, and the supposed purchase occurred in Arkansas while my credit card was safely in my wallet in Albuquerque, NM. So I had to destroy that card, too. emoticon I'll be getting replacements for my debit card and that credit card within about a week and a half, but this is all just a royal pain in the patootie! I've still got 3 other credit cards I can use if I need to, but I'm getting kind of tired of all of this. I'm not paying them off for other people to use, doggone it!

Someone was in my apartment while I was at Wal Mart IN ALBUQUERQUE today. I know because they locked the lock in the door handle and I only ever lock the deadbolt lock unless I'm going out of town. I know that they're switching us over from coolers to heaters tomorrow and the next day so I'm sure that's who was in here, but I wasn't expecting it to happen today so it kind of freaked me out a little bit. I got my hair cut and went to Wal Mart, and then when I got home I found that both locks on my door were locked. So they saw that I'm a bit of a mess and hadn't cleaned the cat boxes for a few days. Oh well. I'll survive.

The thing that was really good about today was that I got my hair cut and it looks really good. If I still had my ex around I'd have him take a new pic that hopefully would be better than my current profile pic, but he's not around so you're all just going to have to imagine my pic with shorter and redder hair if you want to know what I look like with this new haircut. emoticon Anyway, I hope that the week started out well for the rest of you...and that nobody messes with any of your credit cards...

There was much rejoicing!

Val - I am really sorry to hear about what happen. I hope everything gets straighten out.

Ran more errors today and ordered a New wall oven as the one we have just is not working. It is 12 yrs old and who knows what these people did to it. So, thought it would be better to get it now before the holidays come and it goes out in the middle of me cooking Thanksgivings turkey. they are to come out to measure the old one this week or next.

It looks like we are going to need 2 new under the counter lights and 1 garage light. We bought new light bulbs and when we replaced the ones that were burned out or they weren't there. We found that the lights didn't work. I found that one of 2 lights in the under the counter light fixture lights was broken and the other fixture just one of the 2 didn't work. In the garage one of 2 bulbs works on one unit. Today I got my Chair covers for my 2 white Captains chairs that have been in my family, they are as old as I am if not older. HA! Any ways, they came today and they make them look really pretty. The color is camel and kind of a cord material but a waffle pattern. The chairs were white leather and made the room feel a little cooled, plus when you sit on them in the winter they are cold and in the summer you sick to them. Now you won't.

emoticon Halloween is around the counter and I hope everyone comes and joins in on the Halloween Challenge. There will be prizes for the Best Sparkpage and Best Icon and the Scariest Left Trick or Treat. Come join you don't want to miss the Booo Fun! emoticon

I got messages from several of my Spark teams about how the Start page was going to be changing, but most of them had a link that didn't work so I was only able to see how it was going to be changing a couple of days ago. I have never used the Start page that much so I guess it will take a while for me to really notice the changes.

Tammy, my mom pointed out that credit card companies are always willing to work with you when you dispute fraudulent charges but banks aren't always as flexible. Mine was good because with the 5 identical charges on the same day it was pretty obvious that something fishy was going on. I think that once my new debit card comes I'm going to reserve its use for local purchases and use my credit cards online. Especially the one with the $300 credit limit. It will be much harder for a fraudster to get $1200 out of me that way. emoticon

Got my hair cut today and then went to Walmart. Tomorrow it's back to work for another lovely week of baloney. Working for a living is a rotten way to have to spend 1/3 of your time...but at least it pays the bills. emoticon I hope the new week is starting out well for the rest of you. Have a great Tuesday. emoticon

I've gotten an appointment with my regular doctor tomorrow (3:20). Haven't taken any asprin since last Wednesday. Friday (5:30) the heart doctor's office left a message to reduce the asprin & see my reg doctor for rhe bloody urine. Course, by that time her office was closed. But still no pain. Still no word from the eye doctor on when I can get the right eyd done.

People from accros the lane came over Friday & took all the stuff we wanted to give away. They're interrested in buying our indoor wood furnance & boat, trailer & 3 motors for it. Really hope that they do.

Supposed to have a feeze within the week. I'm just not looking forward to winter this year.

Hope everyone has a good & safe day.

Nan: Yes, it's very gratifying to be slimming down. As I've mentioned, I'm not looking at portion control, just what I am eating. I've tended to have black coffee and fresh fruit for breakfast. Today I had a big salad, some slices of summer sausage and cheese, and some cantaloupe.
It was all very satisfying. I'm planning on home made chili for dinner.

What kind of meals are you eating, Nan? You seem to be close to your goal weight.

My mom had a good suggestion. I'm going to start using my credit card with the smallest limit ($300) online and then paying it off right away so that I can use it again. I think I can still use my debit card for paying for things around town, but apparently it's not a very good idea to use it online. Using a credit card online instead of my debit card will keep the idiots from gaining access to my bank account the way they did this time. And since I've still got my little $300 credit card from when I was trying to build a credit history for myself when I hadn't had a credit card for 15 years and no longer had a credit history, I can use that card so that if someone does get access to it and try to use it they'll only have $300 at their disposal instead of the $7,000 and $8,000 they'd have with my other cards. (As my credit history has gotten better, the card companies have been continually increasing my credit limits, which I don't really like but apparently can not change. I do NOT need anyone gaining access to one of those cards.)

These are all things I should have thought of myself, but I'm just not used to having a credit history that anyone would want to (or be able to) mess with. Life just gets to complicated for me sometimes. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Val so sorry to hear of all your problems with your debit card. I had never used on until Aldi came to town because they aren't as safe as a credit card. I rarely use mine and doubt I ever will use it much. I had my credit card stolen and that was a nightmare-took me a year to get it cleared up but at least I wasn't out a dime. Recently had someone try something on it but guess what, stopped them quickly and hopefully they won't ever try that again-I got a totally different card from my bank within a day! Glad you listened to your body and got the needed rest.
Tammy nice to hear from you again and hope life slows down soon.
Sandy it sounds like you continue to make progress on your unpacking. Before long, it will done and then what will you do with your time??? Hope you find another dr who will actually listen and do something for your DH.
Today was busy, busy, busy but we are ready to leave tomorrow. I walked and then got busy getting the last minute stuff done. Abbie had to have a bath, DH needed a haircut, I got everything packed up, did some work on the roses in the park, took soup down and put it in the fridge for friends who will arrive while we are gone (they will have something they can just warm up instead of having to cook or go out), did a couple of loads of laundry and took Abbie to our friends who will keep her while we are gone.
We are supposed to have Wi-Fi on the bus so hoping to keep up with all of you!
Pat

Tammy: I missed you and am so happy you are back with us. So sorry your life has been so stressful. Do you still like your job at the school? Wish you could get your DH to cooperate with you and pick up after himself. Did you try letting things go? If you do nothing maybe he'll step up to the bat.

Val: I had my wallet stolen in a Panera restaurant over a year ago and boy was that a mess. The person went right over to Target and within a few minutes charged $1700+ that went through. They tried to charge two other purchases over $2000 within minutes but those sales were rejected. The credit card company refunded the fraudulent charges but I had to change so many things and replace others. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this and hope you can sort things out very soon.

G.

Enjoy each day.

Hello everyone, sorry I have been mia for so long, I spread myself to thin and then life has gotten pretty stressful this last week, so I quit one team that was taking up a lot of my time.
It makes perfect sense to me Sandy.
Val that is not good about your bank acc. Like my DH says, there are people out there that this is their full time job, to find ways to take peoples money, so they are pretty good at what they do. It is scary.
Gail I hope you are not as overwhelmed as you were on the 17th. Clutter does that to me also, but my DH seems to thrive on it, it’s a constant struggle for me it seems. If it get to bad just cut your losses and donate all of it and have someone just come take it all.
Pat I am sorry your DH is in pain, I would get a second opinion.
Well I hope to be able to visit more with all of you again. Have a nice Sunday.

Val - It was probably a good thing that you didn't go to the wedding if you were that tired.Your body was telling you something.

Gail - yes, DH has glaucoma. We have known about for some time and we have been waiting for the Doctor to put him on the medication but, never has. DH has gotten test 3 times now and it is at 19 and I know that is really high. The doctor still hasn't done anything. The floaters have gotten worse. When DH told him about that the doctor just said everyone has those. But, I know DH gets them a lot more often then I do as he is always rubbing his eyes and saying there are nits in the air. When there are none. So, time for a new doctor.

GOLDDUSTTWIN - If you go down to Challenges you will see the Halloween Challenge. Look forward to you joining in.

Today was a cool and over cast day. So, we just cleaned and did more unpackaging, organizing and cleaning. I even got rid of a few things and made a pile to put on e-bay, good-will, trash and gifts. Some of the items I have are still in the box so I can give as Christmas presents this. I even found something to send to my daughter for Christmas. I am getting through it. So, it was a good day. Was glad to get things organized I feel more better and together, if that makes any sense.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. emoticon

Gail, we can register for two years for every emissions check we have done, we just have to pay two fees at the same time. The federal government forces us to get emissions testing done here before we can register even though our air quality had never once been outside of the standards until a few years ago, and then it was only for a few days or weeks. Other cities that are required to have the emissions checks have been mostly out of he standards for many years, but Albuquerque was forced into the program even though we had never been outside of the standards at the time. Oh well. My bitching isn't going to change anything. Anyway, back to the point, we have to get the emissions check every other year and then we can either pay for a one year or a two year registration.

I was so exhausted from getting up early every day this week that I slept until about 3:45 this afternoon! Guess I really needed the sleep. That's about the time I needed to have been leaving ABQ to get to the wedding on time, so obviously I did not go. I will have to make my apologies to my friend, but I just couldn't do it. I love my friends but I also have to look out for my health, and I could feel yesterday that I was right on the verge of getting sick so I just stayed in bed until I felt that I would be able to get up and cope with my day, and that ended up being too late to get to the wedding. It's probably just about over now (started about 40 minutes ago) and I hope that everything was perfect for my friend. She deserves it.

When I got up and functioning, I had to call my bank because yesterday I discovered that someone had put 5 charges on my debit card for about $265 each that claimed to be charges from Verizon Wireless, with which I have not had a contract since early in my marriage to my ex husband. (So nearly 10 years ago.) Thought I had about $1200 in my account...but it was showing an overdraft when I looked last night! They're going to send me a form to sign and put the money back into my account in about 10 business days, but I had to cut up my debit card and now I will be without one for about 2 weeks. emoticon Oh well. I'll just have to physically stop by the bank to get some cash to carry around...and hope that it takes a little longer this time before some darn fraudster gets a hold of my information and tries to take all my money again. So this afternoon I checked all of my credit card accounts online to make sure that none of them had been compromised, too. Luckily none of them had, but I guess I'd better start checking all of them at least once a month just to be sure. Oy! The modern world can sometimes be a bit much for me. emoticon

The apartment people are going to come turn my heater on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I guess it's time. Sometimes in the afternoons it's still pretty warm in here, but sometimes at night it's pretty chilly in the bedroom so I guess I need the heater now. I've got a fan at the foot of the bed all year round because sometimes I just get hot and that's not going to change. But it's nearly winter now so I suppose I'll be needing the heater for a while. I just need to tidy up a bit before they come in to take care of it...don't want them to know what a mess I am most of the time...

Anyway, that's it from my corner of the world for today. I hope that all of you are having a great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Dusty: I much prefer the cord phones. Some friends of mine are hard of hearing and they don't hear well with the cordless.

Val: You renew your plates every 2 years? Here in WI it's every year. As for the wedding, don't go if it's too much for you. Driving at night is particularly unsafe if you're too tired.

Sandy: Sorry to learn your DH has his eye pressure up. Does he have glaucoma?

Pat: I find shopping...any kind of shopping... exhausting. I especially hate to try things on. UGH

Sorry that Bill is still in so much pain. Poor guy, perpetual pain is more than just a bummer. Hope your bus trip goes well and you get to enjoy some time away from home and all your obligations in your community. BTW, when are you leaving for the trip?

Nan: What are you up to this weekend? Do you watch football? I never got into sports, except for the Olympics.

Enjoy each day.

Val glad you got your car "legal" again. Guess you need to put a reminder in the computer so it will jog your memory because if you are like most of us, you will forget in that length of time!

I spent the morning out at a big community yard sale with Vicky-they had lots of stuff inside and outside of their clubhouse and then individuals had sales so we also went to a lot of those. I got a couple of items for the park and somehow we had the back of the Prius loaded! Vicky got several things also. It was just an enjoyable time out-we let the guys go on their own so it was even more enjoyable-they weren't rushing us!!

I have done my ironing after I got home and got most of our clothes laid out to pack tomorrow. Abbie is now packed for her stay with friends while we are gone. I did some paperwork and balanced the checkbook - those fun things one puts off! Good thing-there was a little $$$ left in the account so guess we are good for a little longer!

Have a wonderful weekend.

I AM RETURNING TO THE "OLD STUFF". I HAD A WONDERFUL CORDLESS HOME PHONE SET BUT WE GOT RID OF IT AND GOT THE NEW PHONE THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BETTER SOUND AND SECURITY...HAH! I WAS TOLD TO PUT THE BASE UNIT IN ANOTHER JACK BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE THE WALL JACK...SAME PROBLEM IN MY OTHER ONES...SO TAKING IT BACK TO THE STORE AND BRINGING UP THE CORDED TELEPHONES I HAD IN THE BASEMENT...ONE FOR THE BEDROOM, COMPUTER ROOM AND LIVING ROOM. WE ARE GOOD TO GO..CHECKED THEM ALL OUT TODAY...SO I WON'T BE SPENDING MONEY ON TELEPHONES UNTIL THESE DIE.

Well it only took me 3 days...but my car is finally a legally registered vehicle that I can safely drive on the streets of Albuquerque without having to worry about getting pulled over for not having a registration sticker on my license plate. emoticon Since the state is apparently not going to send around notices when it's time to get your car re-registered anymore, I'm going to have to make sure that I remember to do it again in 2 years. I don't want to go through all of this stress again next time. emoticon

I'm supposed to go to a wedding in Santa Fe (60 miles north of here) tomorrow. I think it's all going to depend on whether or not I'm still completely exhausted tomorrow I've had to get up a couple of hours early all week long and I'm definitely going to have to sleep in tomorrow. We'll see if I can get enough sleep to feel up to driving up to Santa Fe and then driving home in the dark tomorrow. Other than that, I don't have any big plans for this weekend. Gotta do a little bit of cleaning and vacuum. On Tuesday or Wednesday the apartment folks are going to switch me over from the cooler (that's actually not working right now anyway) to the heater. I don't really want them to see how messy I've let this place get recently, so I guess I'd better straighten up a bit. I hope the rest of you have more fun planned for your weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Pat - Will say a prayer for DH and hope they find out what is going on soon.

Penny - Glad that all went well with your surgery.

Gail - I hope all went well with Travis today and he was able to take more off your hands.

DH saw the doctor today and his eye press is up. The doctor doesn't understand why he hasn't been put on eye drops yet. So, we are going to get another opinion as he has been having such problems with them and the other doctor is just not really doing anything. We did a few errors and got a bite to eat. Then did a couple DIY things here at home. We are now going to relax and watch a college football game and the Baseball highlights.

hope everyone has a great weekend! emoticon

Penny glad the surgery went well. Hope the other is soon so you can get equalized!

Gail sometimes I wonder what I am running on! Today was up at 6 am again so I could walk before we took off to go to a community yard sale in The Villages. That is rather upper class area and we expected to find some nice things and I guess they did, but we were disappointed. It was mostly glassware and knick knack type items and a few clothes so I didn't buy a single thing. Had I known this, I guess we could have slept a bit later! Vicky did find a pr of shorts for herself and one for Sonny. We stopped at Michaels after we left there to look at their closeout items for fall-didn't have much left-we got 2 metal flowers that we will use in the park gardens. We went by one of our favorite thrift stores and popped in there. I came away with 2 wine glasses for 50 cents. Last of the big spenders. We stopped for a late breakfast/early lunch on the way home. We were disappointed there also. We had been telling folks how good it was and today, not so good.
We were back home by noon and I was so tired that after I took care of several things around here and read the newspaper that I took about an hour nap-might have slept longer if someone had knocked on our door!
Tonight is another ball game (GO CARDS) so will likely be up late again and then up early again tomorrow!
Luckily I too had leftover soup which we had for dinner. I love leftovers, DH not so much.
He is still having lots of issues so say a prayer that nothing too bad happens while we are on the bus trip. We are trying to get him in to see another urologist as he is just not happy with the one who has been treating him. Surely there is something that can be done to lessen the pain. He keeps going but I know it isn't easy.

Had lazier surgery on my left eye 10/10 & I can see. Next will be the right eye. Right now my stomach gets upset as the eyes aren't balanced. Wednesday night my urine was red. Called the doctors office the next day & he was in surgery. I quit taking the asprin as my regular doctor wasnted a smaller dosage. Still haven heard from him.. Bill was looking at the paperwork that came with the blood thinner pills & it had a long list of what medications not to take with it. Well, the other pill I refused to take was on it. Just wished they'd get it all straightened out.

Had over 900 email which took time to get rid of as we're on dial up & I couldn't see what was on the screen for so long.

Hope everyone is OK.

Pat: Where do you get your energy for all the work around your home and gardens? Also, it's great having guests but I always find it takes the next day to clean up and put things in order. Maybe it's just that I have so much on my plate that everything is exhausting, and need to recuperate after guests leave.

Val: Any plans for your days off?

Sandy: It's always a relief to have a good dental visit and be done with it for another 6 months. The thing I DREAD are the bite wing xrays I get every couple of years. I gag something awful.

As for unpacking the boxes, it's good you are doing it slowly. It can get overwhelming.

After Travis left yesterday I got to the gym and relaxed in the hot tub. I had soup and chili for dinner and it was great: just heat and eat. I've been having a large salad for lunch and throw everything on it: lettuce, tomato, cukes, artichoke hearts, bacon bits, olives, cooked broccoli, and some cheese. If I go out today I'll get a couple of avocados. One of my favorite salads is lettuce, slices of orange, avocado and nuts. Any of you try it?

It's not even 2am but I went to bed at 7:30 PM last night so I'm not sleepy. None-the-less, I'll try to get back to bed.

G.

Enjoy each day.

Gail as the others have said- emoticon job! I can't imagine this job you have been doing. I am glad that you have been able to take breaks and hope you are planning your next get away.
Sandy - great news on the checkup. It is always a good feeling when the doc tells us we are ok!
I am so tired tonight but will soldier on. I walked at 7 am and Vicky & I worked in the park gardens after getting in our steps. We put out 4 more shepherd hooks with birdhouses today-not hard work, but a lot of deliberating as to where to locate, which houses to use, etc! I got some Christmas supplies put in storage that folks had donated and put Epsom salts on the roses I pruned back in hopes it will encourage new growth. I am starting to see new shoots so pray this will work.
I cleaned the kitchen and guest bathroom after that and finally got my shower and warmed us up some leftovers for lunch. Vicky, Sonny, Don & Lin arrived about 1 and we spent the afternoon playing cards. The gals were on a roll today. The first game we beat them so badly they gave up after the second hand! Everyone went home about 5 and after doing some other little things around here, I finally got to sit down and really relax about 6:30!
The rest of the week looks pretty full too but guess I will get to rest up next week on the bus trip-NOT!

Gail - I am so very proud of you. You have been an example to all of us. And you are right about cleaning things out for our families as I went through that when my Mom died and I promised myself that I would not ever do that to anyone. Plus DH won't let me as both his parents were hordes and they had a lot more to go though when they died. So, Gail emoticon job!

Saw the Dentist today and got a good check up. emoticon Then ran a few errors and came home and empty a couple more boxes and then organized the garage. I did cut back a of couple bushes out front as they were starting to both me every time I got in and out of DH's car.

Have a great rest of the week everyone! emoticon

Good Morning:

Things are still moving along but I'm losing steam with clearing out the house. This is getting awfully old. The first year I went away every couple of months as a break, but now it's not a break, it's an escape. For over a year now, it's like moving every day I'm home. Even if I have a day of rest I've got all of this looming before me. Please, if you love your family, get rid of everything you don't use.

A friend came by with some apples yesterday and went down to the basement to see the progress. He wants Vic's drill press so I'm setting it aside for him. The thing weighs a ton. He asked me how much I wanted for it and I told him he was nuts; after all that he has done for us and all he has given to us there is no way I would take anything from him. I'm so happy that there are friends, neighbors and family who would like things and I give it all to them with a smile on my face. Everyone has been so kind and generous and continues to be so.

My food is still pretty good. I've discovered some gluten free crackers that I like but other than that I haven't been buying breads, cookies, cakes etc. Actually, I'm not one for sweets so the desserts don't beckon to me. The bread looks nasty so I just keep my distance. I think I'm losing inches because clothes are fitting looser and that's very nice.

Travis will come by later this morning and I'll send him away with another van load of stuff. I decided to sell some silver plated stuff including a tray and two covered casseroles. I've had them for years and years and never used them.

Someone, I think it was Sandy, said that my home will be empty and I'll need to get furniture. Well, I'm at the point where I can see that eventually happening. But first things first; the floors need to be replaced and I'd like to get new lighting. My daughter suggested I get carpet for the upstairs and hard wood for the downstairs. We'll see.

I haven't been to the gym for a few days and should try to get there today. Truly, I'm at the stage where I'm paralyzed. I don't even feel like reading. Not good....

Hope you all have a pleasant day and don't sweat the small stuff.

Gail

I have always gotten a notice a couple of months before the date when I need to renew my registration in the past, but not this time around. I'm kind of ticked because I'm sure I'm going to have to pay a fine for being late. Oh well. Gotta get it taken care of. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Val - When they send my re-newel for my car they let me know I need an emissions test. Up here it is easy. You drive in pay $15.00 they hook the car up to a machine and you are done in 15 mins and you leave. I couldn't believe how easy it was. In Calif. it was a pain and the cost was $ 75 - 100. And it took an hour.

Pat - Way to go on the results of the colonoscopy. Glad that thing were OK. Don't over do it to much. Go Cards!

Gail - I am glad that you are not able to see the end of the tunnel. It is always a good feeling.

Well, I have a DDS appt. tomorrow and then a few errors to run and get my Flu shot, now that I am feeling better and over the cold. I get a teeth cleaning so that isn't too bad. The mornings here have been pretty cold - they have been in the 30's. My appt. is at 10:30 am so it will probably be about 46. From our bed room window we can see the Mountains and they still have snow. It is really pretty to see.

I hope that everyone is having a great week. emoticon

Yep, the definitely let you know in both MO & FL. They want to remind one to pay that $$$! Hope the fine wasn't too bad. I keep a spreadsheet so I know when things are due which helps me know when things are coming due and I can compare expenses from year to year.

Gail that is wonderful that the light is finally staring to burn a little brighter in the tunnel. One of these days it is going to be broad daylight!

I had one of those crazy busy days today. I got up at 6 am to walk as we had our first Wed. breakfast of the season as enough of the snowbirds have returned. We had 14 at breakfast today. At 10 was our first RO meeting of the season-it wasn't very well attended but 7 of the 9 board members were there so they were able to conduct business and we are moving along. They approved the budget that we, the finance committee, had prepared for them and now it will be mailed to the owners to vote on next month. It has to be approved by the end of the year so everything is in place to start 2014.
I had to leave the meeting early as I had to see the gastro doc at 11:45 to get the results of my colonoscopy. I was in and out of there in 15 min-no polyps but I do have diverticulitis so he cautioned me on that and will send me a reminder to set up an appointment in 5 yrs!
I went to get a haircut after I left there and my regular gal was in a bad accident-she ran into a curb with her scooter and didn't have a helmet on. She is still in the hospital so I had to have someone else do my cut.
JoAnn's is across the street from the shop so I stopped in there to look at Halloween decorations-they were on closeout and I got two metal ones and they are now put out. I wanted something new and taller to use up front at our entrance so got something for that.
My last stop was at the grocery store and I finally got home about 2:30.
I took a few minutes break after getting the groceries put up and then DH & I cleaned the living room, dining room and family room as we are having company tomorrow. I will finish up the bathroom and kitchen in the morning after my walk.
I am totally tuckered out and finally got to sit down to watch the ballgame after I got supper.
Not going well at this point!
Pat

Gail, I'm so pleased to hear you say that you can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I've never heard you make any statement even close to that and I'm sure it must make you feel really good. I'm also sure that light is still quite a long way off, but finally being able to see it must feel so very good. emoticon

I had a little bit of a difficult morning and had a very hard time getting out the door on time. When I got out to my car I found that someone from the apartment complex had put a big old sticker on my driver side window which I have not yet been able to get all the way off. When they came to check my fire extinguisher, which I had left outside my door for that purpose, they noticed that my car's registration expired in May! I had no idea because the state didn't send me a notice this year for the first time ever. So tomorrow I have to get up early, call my insurance agent to ask about getting a current insurance card because the most recent one I have in my glove compartment expired on the 9th of the month, go pay a fine and register my car. I think before the registering part I'll get an emissions check just in case I need one this year. What a pain in my hind end. emoticon My concert friend told me that the state has never sent her a notice before, but then she has only lived in this state for a few years. I have never not gotten one before, and I guess that from now on I'll have to pay more attention to when it's expiring.

So that's life in my corner of the universe. I hope the week is starting out better for the rest of you.

There was much rejoicing!

Pat: When the block of ice melted I noticed two springs, one on each side, had come off. They were undoubtedly lodged in the ice. My neighbor is very handy and she fixed them in place so now everything is fine. It's a nice little fridge and is very clean. The only thing it held all these years was film and some cans of soda.

Tomorrow I'm expecting a volunteer from Hospice. With the removal of many empty boxes today I am beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. One thing I came across is archival materials. There's lots of it and I dread going through that stuff. There are about 6 trunks in the basement and they must be loaded with all kinds of things. But first things first. I'll tackle the trunks in the end.

Sweet dreams everyone.

G.

Enjoy each day.

Gail-DH asks if the gasket is good??? That can keep it from sealing tight. He says to wipe it off really good with some soft scrub and then apply a thin coat of Vaseline to see if that helps it seal tight. If that doesn't work, he says the hinge might need adjusted and sometimes the refrigerator needs to have the feet adjusted so it tilts slightly to the back. Ok that is the appliance guys hints for the day!
Now on to the e-books. I took my tablet to our library today and they have a help desk and such a nice lady. She sat me down and loaded what I needed on the tablet. Then she walked me thru borrowing and returning a book. I would hope your library would do the same thing for you. After I ran some more errands today, I loaded 3 books on there for my trip next week. Our library lets us sign on for up to 8 books and to keep them for up to 3 weeks except for the newest ones and then it is 2 weeks. Most of the newer books have to be put on hold and then you will get them when it gets to your turn so it could take a few weeks. She told me that e-borrowing with Kindles can be a problem so it was good I got a tablet-Kindle has a glitch and it tends to charge people even though they are getting it from the library!
Today was errand day for me and I got a lot of accomplished Tomorrow is going to be a busy day also.
Time to pay attention to the ball game-Go CARDS!

Pat - The Birdhouses sound so cute. How is DH doing?

Gail - Boy! are you a busy one. Won't you be glad that when it is all over.

DH is doing much better but, tired. He did get a Flu shot when he saw the doctor. He played golf this morning. I stayed home and slept and did a few things around the house and hung a couple pictures, that I knew where to hang. Also got rid of a few more boxes. We should be able to get the cars in the garage by the end of the month, Hopefully!

Hope everyone's week is going good. emoticon

Good Morning:

Well, the past couple of days have been an adventure. We have kept an older fridge in the basement since we moved here some 35 years ago. The freezer has never been defrosted, so it looked like the arctic circle. You'd never believe....Sunday I unplugged it and have been defrosting it. What a mess and what a job! My neighbor came yesterday to help me. She carried a HUGE chunk of ice up to the kitchen sink and it took quite a while to melt the ice, even running hot water over it. The last of it has yet to be done and hopefully that will happen this morning. I'd like to keep this fridge for extra storage; it's very clean and works well. I don't know what the problem is but the freezer door won't stay shut. That's odd because it is perfectly hinged and no pieces are broken off.

Travis came yesterday morning and took a van load of stuff for the next auction. We found three more reel to reels, and lots more tools and hardware still in bubble wrap. There are many empty boxes and debris in the basement and my neighbor is helping me with that. Today we'll make a trip to the recycling plant to unload boxes.

As things thin out a bit I am constantly discovering new things. Yesterday I got to a cabinet that was loaded with DVDs and VHS tapes. What next? There are still lots of shelves with books that need to be packed up and brought to the book store. What they don't buy I'll donate to the University.

Well, best get started on my day.

Hugs for all,

Gail

Pat: When you learn how to download books from the library please let me know how to do it. I just learned yesterday that such a service was available. When I travel I usually take a bunch of books with me but taking my IPad will be much more convenient.

Sandy: Good to hear DH is better.

Val: How did you enjoy your days off? I bet sleeping in is a big luxury.

Enjoy each day.

Gail the hooks can be used for plants too but I like to display the birdhouses on them and at Christmas, I have decoration that I display on them so take the birdhouses down temporarily. I like to do different things with mine. We made 2 birdhouses out of metal tea pots and have them on one of the hooks. I scour the internet and gardening books for different idea!
Sandy glad that DH is feeling better. I guess it is that time of year that folks are going to be coming down with all kinds of things.
Today was Abbie's day at the groomer. She did a really good job on her-she came home with a pretty pink bow, a pink scarf and we had her tail dyed pink again-she is quite the little pink diva. Of course she knows it-I took her out to take pics and she was quite happy to pose for them.
We ran some errands while she was at the groomer. I now have a stylus and a cover for my tablet. I still need to go to the library to figure out how to download books from our local library. I don't have a pin # and it keeps asking for one-I just have a library card!!
Vicky & Sonny got in this evening. Glad to have them back home. They have been gone for 2 weeks.

Morning All,

Hope everyone had a great weekend. DH was sick all weekend with a sinus infection which really bothers his tinnitus and causes his ears to ring louder. So, he had a really hard time in sleeping. The meds final kicked in Sunday night and he got some good sleep. He is now feeling better this morning. We are meeting my Aunt and Uncle for lunch this afternoon. that will be nice and then afterwards we have some errors to run.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Good Morning:

Got to bring a load of stuff to Savers (Easter Seals) thrift store today. They get the stuff I would normally give to places like Goodwill. Hospice gets the good stuff. Also have to start disposing of empty boxes. There are sooo many of them.

Today my friend is taking me to lunch. She's been wanting to do this forever, but she is very ill (COPD) and life is a struggle for her. I'd love to do so much for her but she is very proud and I have to always keep her dignity in mind. Usually I make big batches of food and bring her some. Yesterday I got about 8 plastic grocery bags filled with organic apples from my dil's mom's farm. I'm hoping to make a batch of apple sauce before I see her today. Will also bring here some chili.

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

Gail

Am down again this week. WOO HOO!

Pat: You really cleared something up for me. I bought some shepherd's hooks thinking that I could hang up side down vegetable plants on the hooks. The planters with the dirt were too heavy and I wound up donating the hooks to Savers. It didn't occur to me that they were intended for bird houses.

Enjoy each day.

Gail that is so emoticon that the girls helped you get more accomplished. I think with all the books you have already disposed of you could have started your own library! Yes you are an inspiration-we are all seeing how much trouble it is to dispose of things after a loved one passes. I know what a job it was cleaning out for dad so want to minimize things as much as possible for our kids.
Sandy so glad that your kitchen has come together so well. I am sure you will enjoy many, many meals that you prepare in there now.
Today was one busy morning. It was the first of the community yard sales and we had the bathfitter rep coming at 10 so we had to get there early to be back for him. I really didn't get to do it justice at the yard sale but I came home with 6 small shepard hooks and 3 large double ones so think I am in good shape for the park and hanging up the birdhouses at least for now. I also got a nice Halloween decoration-large heavy plastic-none of that cheap stuff that doesn't last-the old stuff sure holds up so much better than the cheap stuff they sell now.
I even managed to get the hooks painted before the rep arrived! Tomorrow I will be able to hang some of the birdhouses that have been waiting to be displayed.
Well, the man showed us all kinds of samples and we have contracted to have our tub taken out and it will be replaced by a nice walk in shower with a hinged shower door. We are both looking forward to getting it done. They had a tile pattern that matches the tile we already have in the bathroom so think it will all come together well. It will be about 3 weeks before they install it. They have to make everything to custom fit our space. The plumbing will be replaced and we will have the single handle control in place of the controls on the tub so they have to bring in a plumber to change all of that.
Hope all of you are having a great day.
Pat

Good Morning:

Boy, did those girls work as troupers yesterday and are they ever strong. They packed boxes of books, brought them up to the garage and loaded them in my SUV. I made two trips to the book store and brought over over 25 boxes of books. What they rejected I put aside for the university. I've got about 11 boxes so far for the university with what I have from last week and this. We emptied out a few floor to ceiling bookcases and so now I'll have more for the thrift shop. Travis will come on Monday morning and I'll get rid of yet more. Ah, but there is still so much!

We took breaks after about an hour's work and went through old photos of the family. The girls really loved the pictures of their dad, my son, when he was a little boy. They are taking some back with them to NC.

This week a friend will be coming to pick up some speakers I set aside for him next week. He has a truck and I'll ask him if he can help me take a bunch of empty boxes to the recycling plant. Vic saved empty boxes, and some are all right, but I have way too many. That is another thing that will take time to dispose of.

Wishing you all a happy weekend.

G.

PS I am flattered to learn that I'm inspiring you all to get rid of all your clutter.

Enjoy each day.

OK, the cook top is in and so is the dishwasher. They both look so beautiful and change the look of the kitchen. The black granite now looks so much better. I only have 3 more cabinets to clean and put lining in. We replaced the old glass pendents fixtures over the cook top with new ones but, I cleaned the what it hung from. And boy, was that a mess, they did come out really nice. Now the light over the cook top is nice and bright. DH couldn't believe it. We got the same glass ones as we liked the colors but, these look so much nicer. The dishwasher is really quiet and the cook top puts off a lot of heat compare to the one I used at the rental.

Pat - So, now you got the cleaning bug too. HA! I collect the small bottle of Shampoo and conditioners, shower caps, etc. from the Hotels too. I put them out when I have guest come in case they for get something. I also pick up toothbrushes on sale. My son has a habit of always for getting his when he comes up.

Gail - Hope you had a wonderful time with your granddaughters. You have all of us De-cluttering our homes now, which is a good thing. You are our inspiration.

Val - Hope you have a great week, you really deserve it as you work so hard.

The weather here is has become fall like we are not getting above 63 degrees this coming week. Excepting rain later in the week again too.

Hope that everyone has a great weekend! emoticon

We all must be in a declutter/clean it out mode! I didn't work on my closet today but will get back to it next week. I have to figure out what to do with DH's bi-pap supplies that he isn't using-he changed mask types and some of this won't work on his new mask so they are brand new and in pkgs-wish I could find someone to donate them to! I have 2 bags of clothes/shoes to take in.
Val, I collect the shampoo/soap, lotion when we stay in motels and we collect them and donate them to the soldiers. We have boxes in our clubhouse to collect them and other things to send in ditty bags, another box for the boxtops that are donated to the local schools, one for glasses that go to the Lions club, another for food for the Foodbank, and coupons that are sent to military bases as they can use them up to 6 mo after the expiration date. I am happy that our residents support all of these things.
I have to be up early tomorrow to walk, then off to a big community yard sale and back to meet with the rep about converting our tub to a shower. He is to be here by 10 so gonna have to be up by 6 am!
Have a wonderful weekend. Gail I hope you are enjoying those granddaughters!

Gail, I hope you have a really great time with your granddaughters.

I have two more days to work and then I get my weekend on Sunday and Monday. The last week or two I've managed to get rid of a bunch of things I didn't need by donating them to our monthly charity collection at work. Got rid of a bunch of extra soap and shampoo and that sort of stuff that I didn't really need and wasn't going to use because I've switched to other products. I always buy things in bulk so I end up having extras, and then if I stop using something I can't bear to just throw it away so it's great when I can donate things to a good cause. I still have a bunch of cleaning, organizing and throwing/giving away to do if I want to move by July, but at least I've made a bit of a start on all of that.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday.

There was much rejoicing!

What a difference a day makes! We were overcast yesterday but today the sun came out and it warmed up into the mid 80's and I wasn't prepared - went out for my walk this morning with a black t-shirt and was I sweating up a storm when I got back to my house. I quickly changed into a tank top and that was much better when I did my 2nd lap. We did start the day at 61 but hit 85 this afternoon. I decided to do more rose pruning and did the 4 in the center island in front of our clubhouse. That took me about 90 min and I got in lots of steps! We have rocks covering the area so I carried all the branches to the street as I pruned so took longer carrying them out each time! Now I am praying that the extra fertilizer will perk them up and they will come back bigger and better. If not, guess they will have to be dug out and replaced.
We went to lunch with friends this afternoon and then showed them around the area a little. They moved here from OK in Jan. About 4:30 another couple stopped by unexpected for a visit. They live in Fl for about 7-8 mo and in ILL the rest of the time. They had just returned about a week ago. They go to breakfast with us on Wed but do not live in our community. We were talking that folks are returning so thought we could start going our for breakfast again this Wed. I know our regular waitress will be glad to have us back.
I worked more on my closet today after we got back from lunch and hopefully will finish the top tomorrow. Then I can start on the bottom! Not sure why I let things get so bad before I tackled this-procrastination I guess! I actually did straighten it up last summer but it looks so much better using the tubs so thinking this is really going to keep things looking good going forward.
Sandy it was good to hear that things are working out for you and soon you will be able to slow down and relax and enjoy your new home.
Gail enjoy those granddaughters and hopefully they can help you get some more accomplished.
Have a fabulous Friday.
Pat
