Crystal so sorry for your loss.

Gail it sounds like you had a nice trip, even though you didn't get to some places. You have your work cut out for you, and you have a lot of organizational skills it seems to be able to arrange all the stuff you have to get rid of.
Sandy I know what you mean about trying to not clutter up your house, but I am losing the battle, I have boxes I still haven't unpacked because I don't know where to put the stuff.

Pat hope your husbands tests come out ok.

Val have fun with your Monday lunch.

Crystal - I am very sorry for your lost.

Gail - Hang in there. Don't take on too much.

Pat - Hope all goes well tomorrow with DH at his appt.

Well, we got another load today and we have one more tomorrow and we will clean and be done. I had to throw out a couple pair of shoes, that I really didn't wear. that was full of mold. DH said that he is really glad that we are out of there. We have washed everything that we have brought over to the new house as we just don't want any problems health wise. We did throw out a few things that we just were unsure of. The house is starting to come along just trying not to clutter it. Putting items on ebay to sale.

Well, fall is here. It has really been raining the last 2 days pretty good. They even talking about snow again for the Mountains. It was only 56 today.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Crystal so very sad to learn of your loss. I am glad that she didn't have to suffer but it is so hard to lose those dear to us. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Val I hope that you enjoy your two days off and get to do something relaxing and fun.
Sorry work has been so stressful but happy to know that you have the right attitude about it.
Gail it sounds like in addition to all you have on your plate you are going to be even busier. I hope the gym helped to relieve your back pain.
Sandy it sounds like you have some minor wrinkles to work out-hope they are soon resolved and that you will be able to get done with moving the last little bit out of the rental.
Today we went out to breakfast with friends and then to a flea market. We wanted to check out bath fitters-they do remodels of tubs to shower conversions and I knew they had a booth there. They will come out to give us a free estimate. We had hoped to have John do it but he isn't anxious and if he isn't anxious then I don't want him doing it because that is when things do not go well!
DH goes for his labs tomorrow and then we can get him on the antibiotics. We are also hoping the other lab can get him in for the other tests to see if he has blockage which is contributing to the infection.
Abbie has been on her antibiotic for a day-hope to see an improvement in her within the week.

Crystal, I'm so sad to hear of your MIL's death, but as I recall it's kind of what she was wanting. The one positive thing we can take from it is that she is no longer suffering because of the loss of her husband, but I know that still leaves a deep hole in the hearts of the people who loved her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Good morning!

Just stopping by to let you know that my mother in law passed away Thursday morning. It was 10 weeks and 4 days after my father in law died. She died at home in. Her sleep just as her husband did.

We went to Charleston Thursday and we're on our way back home now. I have to work tomorrow and Tuesday and then back to Charleston Tuesday night. Funeral is Thursday.

A very hectic and sad time for us!

Will come back when I can.

Crystal

Good morning:

I don't believe it. When will it stop? I just heard from my dear friend Celeste's husband. Celeste, as you may recall, died from lung cancel late this past May. Well, her husband just called and told me he's starting chemo; he has lymphoma. He's depressed and is turning to me. I was not on the phone a long time so it was all right, but he asked me to call tomorrow. I think I can do this from time to time for short conversations, but there is no way I can spend the hours and hours I spent with Celeste every week on the phone. I'll play it by ear for now. I cannot turn from a good person with a fatal disease. He is in his late 70s and has multiple health issues, so I don't think he will conquor the disease. Additionally, he is really lost without his wife. Her passing has devastated him.

Today I'm driving my friend to the bus. She is going to Turkey for a couple of weeks and I'll be looking after her sister. It's not a big deal. Her sister is a very dear friend and I only need to take her to the supermarket once a week and be there in case of emergency. The biggest problem with the two of them is that they are both VERY hard of hearing. One doesn't use a hearing aid and the other has an aid but her hearing has gotten worse and she won't spring for a new one until the old one dies. It is very frustrating trying to have a conversation with either of them. Ah, such is life.

I'm planning to go to the gym today for a bit of heat therapy. My lower back has been stiff, especially in the morning when I awake. Any of you experience this?

Wishing you all a great Sunday,

Gail

Sandy: There's never a dull moment, is there? Hope the kitchen problems are soon resolved.

Val: Woo Hoo! Sleep in and enjoy your days off.

Nan: Do you have something special planned for today?

Enjoy each day.

Gail - Glad that you are home safe and sound. Your trip sounds wonderful. I use to be a Office Mgr. for a doctors office for 25 yrs. Before that I worked in retail and restaurants. So, I learned to be very organized.

Val - Good for you. Glad that you are able to go home for Christmas. But, it is to bad that you don't get holidays off. Have a wonderful time on Monday with your friend.

Well, they went to install my dishwasher and when they opened the box the New dishwasher had 2 nice dents in the front of it. So, it will take 7 days (work days) for them to get a new one to me. The cook top is also a little too big so we have to grin down the granite on the inside just a bit so the cook top will fit in. So, we will get that done and when they come back with the New dishwasher it all will be ready to go in.

We have about 2 more loads to pick up from the old place and we will be done. It has been raining all day today. Hopefully tomorrow we can get the rest of it in between the rain and be finished.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Gail, I'm so glad that your trip went well for the most part. Sorry the weather cut into it somewhat, but Iceland and Greenland will always be there and that could be a very nice trip for next summer. I know it's back to the grindstone for you now, so I hope that you were able to stock up a bunch of extra energy on your trip. Please do your best to take it a little bit easy once in a while so that you don't exhaust yourself right away as you go back to you monumental task. I wish I lived closer to you so that I could take you to lunch with me and my former coworker every Monday. emoticon

So now my work week is over and I can sleep in and do whatever I want to for two whole days. emoticon It really hasn't been a bad week, but it's kind of stressful having the bosses harping on not having one minute of overtime all the time while still expecting us to do more work than we've ever done before at our lab. emoticon The latest fun thing is that since New Mexico is a right to work state the company doesn't have an obligation to give us any holidays off...so everyone is going to be working every holiday that falls on one of their regular work days unless they request a holiday off and their request is approved. I requested Christmas off at the very end of December last year because I've worked it 2 years out of 3 and my mom really wants me to go visit this Christmas...and I only found out this week that my request has probably been approved. I'm going to buy my plane tickets this week and I've already told my bosses that once the tickets are purchased they're out of luck if they change their minds.

But things aren't really as bad as I'm sure I've just made them sound. I still really like my new work schedule and I've learned through long years of practice not to let things bother me if they're not important in a real way in my life. I don't have the energy to waste on being stressed over something that's as small in the scheme of things as a job. Hopefully things will get better some day but if not, at least I have a job that pays the bills and provides me with pretty good insurance. A lot of people can't say that so I consider myself very fortunate. (I picked the right field...there are always going to be jobs in hospital laboratories.)

Anyway, that's about it for me for now. I hope that you're all having a fabulous weekend, that someone can do something for Pat's hubby's infection, and that Sandy and Gail recover from their recent energy expenditures. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Gail glad to hear you enjoyed your trip even though it didn't go quite as planned. It is good to be flexible about things. Reading was a alternative. Sounds like you are right back into the thick of things.
Today we took Abbie to the vet. Her skin issues are allergy related. She got a shot and is on medication for the next 10 days. She also told me I can bathe her twice a week as that will clean the allergen off of her hair and help it clear up faster but then I have to also give her a fish oil tablet to help replace the oil the washing will take off.
Gail I get my steps in only because I get up very early and walk before I get my day started. I am happy that it is finally cooling down so I can walk later in the day-the 6am or earlier time is wearing me down!

Good Afternoon:

The trip was a good rest and I'm grateful for that, but with the weather what it was we missed all the highlights. Instead we stopped at very small ports which were charming but with nothing more to see after a couple of hours. That's OK. I didn't have that much energy to walk for hours on end like I used to. Furthermore, sailing between two storms was pretty rough as it was and one night and I spent 22 hours with my head in the pillow. That wasn't too bad; several guests barfed.

After leaving Copenhagen we set out for Norway. I went on a side trip to the ski area where the Olympics were held, a sculpture garden and the Munch Museum. The gardens were very lovely, but the museum was awesome. Munch went through several periods in developing his art, and the works he produced were all wonderful. I think that museum was the highlight of the whole cruise for me. Afterward we stopped at a little port in Norway, a little port in Scotland and a little port in Ireland. Hopefully, one day I will get to the Giant's Causeway near Belfast, and to Iceland and Greenland. Maybe I'll fly to the last two next summer. I've been told Iceland Air has some great packages.

The guests on the ship were a very friendly bunch. Something tells me we were all pretty like-minded because we set our sights on Iceland and Greenland. Yes, a lot of people dressed for the formal nights, but quite a few didn't. I have a few "formal" things that don't wrinkle, so I brought them and they were perfect. Since I didn't have trips to the major spots I had some money to play with so I went to the spa three times and took advantage of their specials. Once I had a full body massage, another time I had a foot, neck and shoulder massage and a facial. The last time I had the 3 aforementioned services plus a hand massage and a scalp massage. Oh, what a treat! It was soooo relaxing. I also read about 5 or 6 mysteries, went to a few shows on board, and did a little on board shopping. The cruise had Bijoux Turner watches for $10 each and I got one for myself, one for my daughter and one for one of my granddaughters. I got the other two granddaughters dainty earring/necklace sets, also $10 each. I love those watches. They are so unique and "high fashion" and last forever. I got one last winter, but it died a few weeks before I left on my trip because I accidentally left it in my pants pocket and threw it in the washing machine. LOL

Since my return I've been doing some errands, a couple of laundries, and getting things in order. Travis will come Monday morning and the ladies from hospice should be coming on Wednesday. Also, I've 18 boxes of books in the garage for the university. Disposing of all this stuff just goes on and on.

My food started out very well on the trip and some of my clothes looked so baggy I couldn't wear them again. I eased up the last couple of days but I didn't go off the deep end, and I've stocked up on the "good stuff" since I got back. I learned that eggs and dairy seem to be all right for me, but if I eat more than a little gluten my allergies kick in a bit. Also, I've been eating berries and other anti-inflammatory foods and have not needed to take Ibuprofen at all in over a month. How good it that!

Though the return is pennies on the dollar, I got a over $2500 from the last two auctions and there is another one on right now. I'm not expecting more than a few hundred on this one. Still, the money is enough to plan another trip. Getting away every month or two is the only thing that is keeping me sane. In addition to getting rid of books, vintage collections, and a household full of Vic's parent's stuff, there are some things I'm uncovering are really heavy and difficult to deal with. Just before I left I found a listing of all Polish people who the Germans put in concentration camps between 1941 and 1943. I'm expecting to uncover hand written transcripts of political trials in Russia during the Stalinist era, and that's going to be heavy too.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Sandy: I don't think I've ever known anyone as organized as you.. What kind of jobs have you had? Your employers must have thought you were a Godsend. It's great that you are finally in the new home and things are the way you want them to be. I see you have a soaking tub. Lucky you. Does it have jets? Enjoy your new house, sit back and rest for a while.

Tammy: It's great that you like your new job and coworkers. That makes life so much more pleasant. Sorry your DH doesn't clean up after himself. I never had that problem with Vic but the kids, well, that's another story.

Pat: It's heartening that will all Bill is going through he's still up for some socializing and fun. Good for him. As for you, I don't know how you do so much and still get in the 10,000 steps. So happy you had a good belated birthday weekend in Ft. Meyers. You deserved it.

Nan: How are you doing? Going out to lunch with the girls? What are you reading these days? When I was on my trip I discovered Baldacci? Have you read his mysteries?

Val: It's good that you've been getting so much rain. Your land in NM is very parched and I'm sure it soaks right into the soil. I'm delighted to hear that you are going out with friends and look at it with anticipation. Laugh a lot, enjoy the excitement of the races, and do make something with those beads. Earrings maybe? Glad your mammogram came back negative. It's always a relief, isn't it?

Dusty: Apple butter and cherries....mmmmm...

Penny: Don't know how you managed to weed and clear your yard in such heat and humidity. How's Bill doing since his surgery? How has your vision been since you are off those meds? Any better?

Crystal: Darling you sound so frustrated with the school administration. Sometimes organizations don't appreciate the vital work of volunteers. Keeping the HS kids engaged is keeping them out of trouble, teaching them teamwork, and enabling them to tackle the books when the time comes. Sounds to me like the school administrators are in the wrong jobs. The welfare and education of the children must be priority 1.

Enjoy each day.

Pat - I hope that they get to the root of the problem and find out what is going on with DH.

Val - Well, you made it through the week. emoticon Enjoy your weekend!

Gail - Glad that you are home. Can't wait to hear about your trip.

Nan - Glad to have you pop in.

Well, we get the rest of the appliances put in tomorrow. The cook top is arriving tomorrow and they are coming back and installing the dishwasher too. We had to have the plumber come out to put in the new line and turn off valve as the others were plastic. So, after tomorrow there are no more appts. I had Lowe's out today to fix the Refrig. handle and lock it into place, as we couldn't figure out how to do that. Come to find out you had to unscrew the front panel on the bottom and then adjust the feet. emoticon Well, who could have seen that one. It was the Manager of the install dept. that came out and fixed everything for us. So, that is fixed. We have all new light fixtures in all the bathrooms now as we found that none of them were put in right. I am glad I have done what I have done it has made the home better and safer.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Gail so glad that you made it home and looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Val hope that you get thru Sat and get to enjoy Sun & Mon. I guess you have it right, just be glad to have a full time job. Seems down here one of the major medical centers is treating people so badly that the head honcho resigned because staff are talking about unionizing and it is really bad..

Took DH to the dr today. He still has an infection so going to do more testing. I am praying we can get to the root of the problem. Dr's staff forgot to put the diagnosis code on the orders to run a urine test to culture it and get to the root of things but now it will have to wait till Mon!
He prescribed antibiotics but now can't take them till this test is run.

Hope all of you have a good weekend.

Well one more day closer to my days off, I think I'll probably make it through this week. We have a student right now that I really love, probably because I only have to work with her for an hour or two 3 days a week. emoticon No, actually she's really great and I wish that we had an open position for her, but we don't and we probably won't have one unless/until my concert friend finds another job. She's looking for one because she's the person who is the most miserable with our new boss and the current despotic situation at work. I don't want her to be unhappy...but I also don't want her to find another job. I love working with her too much to just be able to let go easily. I wish I knew how to make things better for her, but I really do not. I've offered to take some of her duties from her, but apparently too many of them are interconnected for her to be able to give any to me.

It's just a weird situation at work right now. Boss who is not at all personable, and company that doesn't want us to earn a single minute of overtime unless we can well and truly justify it. emoticon I keep getting told to go in 15 minutes late to shave off the little bits of overtime I accumulate, which is just so irritating. Oh well. At least I have a full time job that pays my bills and such. So many people these days are being cut down to part time hours and having to work more than one job. I shouldn't complain so much...but I think you guys know me too well to think that I'm going to stop. emoticon

Anyway, today was a much, much better day at work. (Thank goodness.) 2 more days of work, then my concert friend and I may do something on Sunday, and then on Monday I go see my new primary care doctor. I saw her a few weeks before I had my colonoscopy and I was supposed to have a follow up visit with her a couple of days after the procedure, but I got it in my mind that the appointment was a couple of weeks later so I missed it. So Monday I go see her and find out how the blood work I had drawn a week or two before the colonoscopy turned out. Then I'm hoping to have lunch with my Monday lunch friend, and then it will be time to start a new work week on Tuesday. What excitement I have in my life. emoticon

We've been having warm afternoons here (mostly in the 70s) but a friend of mine who lives on the other side of the mountain had frost on her windshield this morning. She said that because of the early freeze she lost all of her tomatoes and I think something else in her garden. Here in town it might get down to freezing tomorrow morning, which is kind of odd. It's really early for a hard freeze here, but then it's been a pretty cool summer so I guess we should be prepared for anything.

Sandy, I'm so glad that the house is working out so well for you. I hope it keeps up. And now that I've spent a very long post just yammering on about myself, I hope that you've all been having a great week and that you have plans to do something fun this weekend. I hope that Gail is having a wonderful time on her cruise, can't wait to hear all about it when she gets back. Have a fabulous Friday. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Pat - Luckily it was only day of snow. But, it is the beginning. It looks like we will get more this weekend in the Mnts. as we are going rain. They say you need a vacation after a vacation. I hope you get some rest.

Val - I'm glad that your week is getting better toward the end. I hope you have a great weekend. I am beginning to start to relax a little too.

The Plumber came back today and installed a new pressure gauge as the one here went out. But, the plumber gave me a big discount on that since he was just here doing all the new lines. I am so glad that I did that. DH and I are really comfortable here in the new house more than we were in the rental. DH said that the first week in the rental he felt uneasy about the rental. But, with the new house he didn't have that feeling.

Tomorrow I have Lowe's coming back out to fix the handle on my new refrig that came off on the freezer area. Then we have a few errors run and things to return. Saturday we are sleeping in and loading the kitchen.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. emoticon

Val sorry work is so draining-it is no fun to not enjoy working as one does it daily 5x a wk! I am so happy I am retired.
Sandy - SNOW - that is a nasty 4 letter word!! We retired our snow shovel too- emoticon Hope you are managing to get more put up so you can use your garage.
I am a bit vacation tired today. I did walk at 6 am as I had to be at the dentist at 9 for my cleaning. Good report there and glad it is done for another 4 months. I went to the grocery store after I out of the dentist. We had no bread, milk or fruit! Haven't accomplished much since about 1-I have felt really tired so decided to catch up on the newspaper and my e-mail as I did just a bit while gone. Had a notice my in box was approaching capacity so decided I needed to take care of that.
Busy day tomorrow and now time to go get us some dinner.

Well today was only a better day in the sense that I was in a department I like better than the one I was in yesterday. Well, that's not entirely true. I had huge analyzer issues yesterday, today I just had more work than 3 people could have easily kept up with. But oh well, at least it's over now. Tomorrow's another day and I only have about a quarter of my weekly stuff left to do. Piece of cake. emoticon

Sandy, I'll bet you can't wait until you're totally and completely moved into the new house. I know that you'll be much happier without the previous owner's color schemes. Enjoy the house...once you get a chance to relax a bit.

I hope you're all having a really great week. I'm too tired to write anything else, think I'll just shut the darn computer down and go to bed.

There was much rejoicing!

Val - I hope you had a better day today.

Pat - Was wondering were you gone off to. That was nice of DH to do for you. I am glad that enjoyed the pictures of the house and got to see what I was talking about.

Well, we did some errors today. We were able to get through a few more boxes and touch up some of the paint where we changed light fixtures and installed new thermostat. We also rearranged the furniture in the den to work a little better.

We have already gotten snow in our local Mountains here. So, I am wanting to get things unpacked to get the cars inside. We are having rain and it has gotten cold.

Hope everyone is having a great week or at least the week has gotten better.

Sandy your pics sure do show a lovely home now. What were those people thinking???? Hope now you get a chance to relax.
Val glad you got to visit with friends and hope that you had a better day today.
I have been gone for a few days-we took a mini-vacation to Ft. Myers. DH had planned to take me for my birthday but my son & family came down to surprise me so we had to postpone the trip. We had rain the last 3 days but not all day so we had a nice time. Lots of beach walking, We spent the better part of a day at the Ford/Edison homes, played some cards with our friends during the rainy periods and got soaked a couple of times!
Late and tired so will catch up with you more later.

Crystal, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's mom. Working in hospitals for the last 23 years I've seen it so often, when a couple has been together for their entire adult lives and one of them dies, the other is quite likely to follow within a year. Unless the surviving spouse has something in their life that makes them feel like they have a reason to keep on living they frequently just give up. I hope that this is not what his mother is doing. Does she live close enough to you that you could go visit her every week or two? Or does she have other children who are close enough for that? Is there a grief support group that she could join? I just hate to think of her being so miserable now that her husband is gone.

Well girls, my day at work was absolutely awful, but at least it's over now. emoticon Tomorrow is another day and I just have this feeling it's going to be a lot better. (If it's not I may just have to curl up in a corner and cry, but I'll be in the department I feel more comfortable with tomorrow so it should be better...even though I'll have a darn student for a couple of hours after I get to work.) I hope that the week is going well for all of you, and I hope that Sandy gets some rest soon. Everyone have a great Hump Day. emoticon

Thank you everyone. I am glad that you can see now what I have been talking about. Today I have the Plummer changing all the valves and lines to the sinks and toilets as they had plastic ones. Plus a new faucet and I had to have another toilet put it in as the was about to go. So, this house is now up to code and I don't have to worry about any leaks happening or coming though the ceilings now. I wasn't cheap by any means but, it would of been more if I hadn't done it now. The guys were good and gave me discounts as much as they could to help.

Crystal - Sorry to here about DH's Dad. I will say a prayer.

Nan - Thank you for your kind words.

Val - Thank you for yours too. Glad that you got to spend time with your friends. I hope that you enjoyed the concert.

I hope that everyone has a great week.

Good morning!

Sandy, WOW! The house looks wonderful! You guys have done a great job with it. I’d hate to know what the previous owners were thinking when they painted some of those rooms!!!!! I hope you and settle down soon and enjoy it.

Pat, can you ship me a piece of your German Chocolate cake??? That is my favorite dessert, but I don’t eat it often. I try not to have it unless it’s made from scratch. Do you have an easy recipe? I’d love for you to share it.

Val, I see your weekend was busy. I wish I had a weekday off on a regular basis so I could get some things done. I have a cleaning at the dentist on Thursday, but I have to take off for it on and then either take vacation time or make the time up.

My hubby and I went to Charleston this weekend. His mother is not doing well. He lost his dad in July and his mom and pretty much given up. So sad….

Last week of the month for me and crazy busy! Hope everyone has a great day!

Crystal

Very nice. You and DH have put a LOT of work into changing this house from a freak show to a home people can live in. Some of those colors were just too much to believe. emoticon I hope that you're able to get unpacked and then get some rest. Goodness knows you deserve it.

My work week is finally over. On Sunday I'm going to watch a NASCAR race, or at least try to. They're not always that great these days. Then I'm going to dye my hair again in spite of the fact that I said the last time I did it was going to be the last time for all time. My concert friend convinced me to keep on doing it for a while longer because I really love this hair color, so I think I've got enough dye kits to be a redhead for almost another year. Guess I'll just see how I feel about whether or not it's too big a pain when I run out of kits again. emoticon

Monday I get a dental cleaning and after that maybe I'll do some cleaning around the place. What an exciting "weekend" I've got planned. emoticon I hope the rest of you are having a great one.

Ladies, the pictures are up for all of you to see. We did another run to the house today as it is to rain pretty good tomorrow and we had some items to get out of the shed. Looking forward to hearing what you all think.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I am relaxing tomorrow and watching football.

Val that is wonderful news-set for another year. I have to go for mine the end of Oct. Will be glad to get all these tests behind me!!!
Sandy so happy that you are all moved in and now you can take your time getting it all just the way you want it. It was a long summer but now you have the home you want.
I got my walk in and then it was time to get down to business. I gave Abbie a bath as she is going to spend the next 4 days with friends while we go to Ft. Myers. Vicky & I ran our errands and that took pretty much the rest of the morning.
I took time to sit and relax and read the newspaper before taking a nice 90 min nap! When I got up, I got the packing done for our trip and except for the last minute things, we are ready to go!!!
Not sure if I will be able to get on there, if not I will be back by Thur.
Have a wonderful week.
Pat

See? I knew you'd feel better once you got rid of a tiny little bit of the stress you've been under. Now if only I could convince my concert/work friend of that...

When I got home from work today I found a letter in my mailbox that tells me that the mammogram I had a couple of weeks ago was normal. emoticon I'm safe for another year. emoticon

I've got one more day in my work week and then I can relax for a couple of days. I hope that you all have an enjoyable weekend planned, and that poor Sandy can get all of her unpacking done without finding any new headaches.

There was much rejoicing!

Well, we are in and got things up and running again. The movers were great and wonderful. It took 8 hours from beginning to end. We still have a few more things to get out and that is just our clothes that are hanging in the closet. We got to be about 1am last night and we were up as soon as the sun cam up as we were so tired last night that we couldn't even put the blinds up that we had taken down when we had the house painted. So, I cleaned them today and we hung them so that we can get a good night sleep tonight. We have no one coming over, no appointments and nothing to do. We went to the store today and picked up a few things.

I am feeling better now that this is all over. I can eat and drink now without having to run to the bathroom 10 mins.later.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend.

Val I guess it boils down to what we are used to! Glad that your MS has not been as bad this summer-that is definitely a plus.
I pretty much got everything done that I wanted to this morning-I was out to walk by 6 and got in my 10,000 steps by 8. I needed to trim my sweet potato plant and a friend wanted some starts so took her the bucket of my trimmings for her to plant. After that was done, I grabbed my yogurt and then got busy and finished up the decorating in the park that I can do on my own. I have a couple of things I need help with so hopefully Vicky & I can do that next week when we return from our trip. I also put out my Halloween decorations at home so I have that done for this year!
I did a quick run thru of the house as I had company coming at 11:30 and then into the shower to get cleaned up and ready for them. They arrived as I was attempting to get the minutes sent out from our finance meeting on Wed. I wanted to get that taken care of before we left on Sunday. That gives everyone a chance to study it and r. aise any questions they might have before our next meeting next Fri. Our goal is to have the budget for 2014 hammered out and ready to present to the board of directors at the Oct meeting.
We went to lunch at a new restaurant to celebrate Lin's birthday and came back to play cards. I am happy to say that at least today we split the win. Gals won the 2nd game - emoticon . I made German Chocolate cake for her birthday as she is a chocoholic! Everyone seemed to enjoy it and I hope the blood sugar doesn't go crazy as Don & Sonny are both diabetic!
Abbie decided she wanted to go home with Vicky & Sonny so they took her with them and we let her stay for about an hour. Little imp thought she might get some treats I do believe. Of course, she does really care for them and they kept her when we went up north. They are fond of her so it was no problem.
Gotta get packed tomorrow and run some errands-will be another busy day!!

Pat, I love life without humidity and mosquitos. We've got our share of ants, though. I'll take the humidity for now, though, because it has gone along with temperatures that have been in the 70s and 80s all summer. emoticon We've been in the 90s one or two days this summer, and not a single day over 100 degrees. Hooray!! The kind of heat we usually have here in the summer really does a number on my MS so I'm more than happy not to have it this year.

Sandy, I'll bet all the stress in your life recently has a lot to do with your current health issues. Luckily you'll be moving into the new house soon and maybe your stress level will go down at least a little bit after that. I really hope you'll take a day or two to just rest after you get moved. I think you really need that. Constant stress isn't good for you.

I hope that Gail is having a wonderful time on her vacation. I think that she needs this vacation even more than Sandy needs one, which is to say A LOT. I hope that the rest of you have been having a wonderful week and that your Friday is fabulous.

Crystal you brought back memories (maybe some fond, but some of just a hectic time) as I worked in the accounting field and my life always revolved around the month end and year end closings and working on budgets! I don't miss it a bit anymore!! I even hate to balance my checkbook anymore but I always do it.
Sandy do you think the problem might be your nerves. This has been a trying time for you. When I get too stressed it can cause me problems that I don't normally have. Hopefully things will settle down as you get all done and start enjoying life in your "new" home. Glad you are finding these issues out and getting them resolved as you find them and not having to deal with them later.
Val I can't imagine life without humidity, mosquitoes, and nasty little ants. I stepped in a mound today and the little buggers attacked in an instant. I am expecting to see some nasty welts by tomorrow morning even though I quickly knocked them off, they bite first and ask questions later emoticon .
We had big plans for today but Vicky hurt her back so we had to cancel things. We were to try out a new restaurant for breakfast and then either go to BJ's or some thrift stores-had not made up our mind. Oh well, there will be another day!!
I worked on putting out more of the Halloween/fall decorations this morning and got the big tub done - just have a smaller tub and a bag of stuff to put out.and that job will be done for this year.
Gotta go water-the rain is missing us so I have to keep using the hose!

Good morning!

Been MIA for a few days! Things have been hectic but I’m proud that I’m making progress! I have more energy and exercising isn’t as hard as it was before. My mindset is getting better.

Looks like everyone has been busy! Sandy, I look forward to seeing pictures of the new house. You’ve sure put a lot of work into it!

Pat, I hope your hubby feels better soon.

All the talk about the gardens and canning has made me long for home! I hated it when I was growing up, but now I appreciate the canning process. Not only the savings, but also the quality of food.

We’re ending our fiscal year at work and there’s much to do!

Take care all!

Crystal

Pat, if your humidity got down to 10 percent you would drink more water, use more lotion, sweat less and be much more comfortable. At least that's my opinion on the matter. I'm getting used to a bit of humidity this summer but the 87 percent this morning was a bit much. emoticon Along with all of this rain and humidity comes mosquitos, which we almost never have in New Mexico. Not many in my area, but a couple have gotten into my apartment this summer and they really freak me out. I've had to study all of the nasty things you can get from being bitten by a mosquito and I do not want any of them. One was in my bedroom over the weekend. I didn't realize it until the cats jumped off the bed to try to catch it, which sent it flying right at me. I don't know what happened to it in the end, but at least it flew out of my bedroom.

There was much rejoicing!

Pat - Hope that DH is feeling better now that he has the Meds.

We took both cars over today full. I had to leave as I had another bought with diarrhea again. I am not sure what is going on with me. DH sent me home and told me to get some rest. It just came on all of a sudden yesterday. I got up this morning and felt fine had a bite to eat and a cup of coffee. Then had to run to the bathroom. This is not the time for me to get sick. I had to take Imodium AD to stop it or I'd never be able to do anything. We have so much to do. The dishwasher wasn't able to be put in as the people that lived there were so cheap that the lines that they used for there dishwasher wasn't good and the installers didn't have the extra lines to or what we needed to install mine. We have a handyman that is coming out Friday to do some work for us so, we will see if he can do that too. These people were so cheap I can't even believe it.

Any ways we are getting thought it all and the weather is being good to us. It is start to rain on Friday and then pour on Saturday. So, we will be relaxing in our new home and unpacking and watching football.

I hope that everyone is having a great week and Thank you for all your support.

Sandy it is surely a good thing that you are getting out of the rental - you are so right that mold can cause a multitude of health issues. Hope the move goes smoothly and you are settled in quickly.
Val I guess I have lived with humidity for so long that I would not know what to do if it got to 10%! It was bad out today-DH had trouble breathing but he did walk this morning.
I have had a full day-walked, then got cleaned up as our finance committee met this morning and we are nearly done hammering out the 2014 budget for our community. We are totally paid for-no mortgage on our community and we finance our improvement projects as we go so it is our job to figure out a budget to pay for major projects. Right now we are working on getting all the electric lines buried-we have 1/2 of the community done and will phase in the rest of it over the next several years. Our clubhouse is going to need a new roof so we are setting aside $$ so we are ready when the time comes, etc.
This afternoon I had my appointment with the gastro dr and my colonoscopy is now set for Oct 3. Will be glad to get that behind me. DH had to go for bloodwork after we got that done. Same doc ordered bloodwork each month to see if the cauterizing he did has had an affect on his anemia. There was no code on the order so had to call to get that so insurance will pay for the test. They gave us a sticker for the final order so next month this will not be a problem!
DH is still having pain-I am leaning towards a kidney stone so if he is still in pain when we get back (hoping he doesn't get worse in the next week!) will call the dr and see if he wants to schedule some tests to check for a stone. The antibiotic should be making a difference and it isn't making a huge one yet.

Pat, tomorrow morning we are forecast to have 90 percent humidity even though our two weeks of daily rain seem to have been the extent of what we're going to get for now. I'm sorry, but I'd much rather have my less than 10 percent back. I know it's not as good for my skin...but it sure feels one heck of a lot better...I hope they can figure out what's going on with your poor DH soon. UTI's are absolutely miserable. I worked late tonight, which made me get home later than usual, and a friend of mine told me that I wouldn't be nearly as tired if I didn't stay up all night on the computer (because I couldn't figure that out for myself emoticon ) so I'm going to glance at my email for a few minutes and then try to get myself to bed. I hope you all have a great day tomorrow.

There was much rejoicing!

Well, we did a load in DH's Subaru today. We also stop by Kohl's as they are having a sale plus I had a 30% off coupon. So, ended up saving a lot. Coit came out and cleaned the Ducts. He couldn't believe some of the vent. He also informed us that we are probably really luck as the furnace doesn't seem to have been used too much. I had told him that all the vents were closed and had furniture over them. He told me that the people from the old country of India don't use heat so they don't turn the heaters on. So, I think we have gotten lucky.

We did some more packing of the Subaru tonight and packed my car also. We just have our Clothes and the Black out curtains in our room and the curtains in the front door side windows. I am trying to wash everything before we take it over to the new place. I also have cleaned and of course dusted everything. We have been throwing things out with some of our stuff and replacing it as I have said the House we are renting has mold. They have a foundation problem that they just found out about. it has a lot of cracks in it and we think the roof has a leak. The landlord really hasn't done anything he said he was going to do when we first moved in. He has a big mess on his hands now.

Well, I may not be able to check in on Friday as we may or may not have internet service. But, will as soon as I can.

Everyone take care and have a great week.

Sandy glad the rain held off so you didn't get all the boxes and yourselves soaked. Soon thtis all just be a memory!
Val we live with humidity for about 6 mo out of the year. We should be getting lower humidity in about a month. We get excited when it gets down to the 60-70% range in the summer emoticon . You just take lots of shower-ha ha.
Got DH's antibiotic today-he will be on it for the next 7 days. I am hoping that this time it will knock out the infection. If it recurs, they are going to have to do more tests to find out why he keeps getting this. Until he had radiation he never had a UTI so....I am thinking somehow it is related.
Vicky & I started working on decorating the park for Fall/Halloween. It was pretty hot out there and we were both dripping but don't think it is going to get cooler anytime soon so we must soldier on! We are about 1/4 of the way done so hopefully we can get this done in another 2-3 days of working for a couple of hours.
I went for my eye test today and guess it went ok-dr called later (while I was decorating) and he spoke to DH-about all he got out of it was I should be good to drive for another 20 years!!! Men-no details, no memory of what they was really said. Oh well, it wasn't terrible news so guess I can quit worrying I am going blind soon!
Another full day tomorrow so guess I best get off here and get some sleep!

hello everyone,
It sounds like you are all busy and on the mend. I have been so tired after work and busy I just haven't gotten on the computer much. My garden is keeping me busy, but soon it will be done so then I hope I can get caught up on stuff, that's my story and I am sticking to it, emoticon I had to pay bills tonight so after I got that done I thought I would check in.
well time to do some laundry and look at my coupons and see which ones are ready to expire.
have a good evening.

DH & I got up early this morning and went and rented a truck. We loaded it with all the boxes and went over to the new house and unloaded. It took us about a total of 4 hrs. It was just the two of us and we did pretty good. It was also DH's Birthday today so I took him out to dinner afterwards. We got luck today too as it didn't start to rain till after we unloaded the truck and then it started to pour.

We are both tired and sore. We will really sleep tonight. But, will be back up early tomorrow morning to meet Coit, take more stuff over, clean and possibly put some stuff away. I promise I will get the pictures up this week. I thought I'd have them up today but, I am ready to go to bed.

Hope that everyone has a great week.

Well the mammogram was okay. No more painful than usual and since it was scheduled for 10:00 in the morning the clinic hadn't had time to get hopelessly behind (the way they usually do) and I got in and out within 30 or 45 minutes. Then I had a really fun lunch with my friend, followed by the two of us going to Hobby Lobby so that she could try to find something to do with her time. She bought a couple of puzzles and a sketch kit, something similar to paint by numbers, but for sketching. I got a little bag of pastel colored seed beads that hopefully I'll do something with sometime. (I have all kinds of supplies for making jewelry that I hardly ever seem to get around to using...)

It hasn't been terribly hot most of this summer, but it has been raining a lot and honest to goodness humid, which I find unpleasant but am learning to live with because a good deal of rain has come with the humidity this summer. However, today we had 60 and 70 percent humidity, which may very well be normal for a lot of you guys but is absolutely miserable to me. How do people live like this?? You guys who deal with this all the time have my undying sympathy.

There was much rejoicing!

Dusty it sounds like you are going to have some wonderful "eats" this winter. I do miss gardening and all the bounty one gets but luckily I can go to the farmer's markets and get fresh pretty reasonable so that works.
I called the dr's office early this morning to see if he wanted to see him and here it is 7 PM and no call so I guess tomorrow after my dr apt we will go to Urgent Care again. I think that he either has a UTI or kidney stone and it is flaring up again and I do not want to let it get to the point it did Labor Day weekend when his fever got over 103. Right now it is just painful so hoping we can get to the bottom of this and finally knock it out.
I did manage to get in my 10,000 steps this morning-1st time since we returned. It did feel good to get back into my routine. Hopefully I can keep this going.

Sandy, what fun for you...clean the rental so that you can get your deposit back when you move out, and clean the new place just so that you can move in. emoticon I'll bet you'll be happy to finally get moved in and be able to rest for a little while.

The year that I turned 35 was not a good year for my family. It was the year that my first husband died and also the year that my mom's breast cancer was diagnosed. Luckily a lumpectomy took care of it, but I've been getting yearly mammograms ever since and tomorrow is the big day for this year. So I'm going to get this year's taken care of tomorrow morning and then I'm going to take my friend to lunch since she couldn't go last week. I'm hoping to take my concert friend with us and treat her to lunch, too, but it's hard to do things before work when you know you're going to stay up until 2:00 in the morning before you go to bed, so she may not go with us. After lunch I'll make my weekly shopping trip. What an exciting day I've got planned. emoticon But it beats the heck out of just about any day that I have to go to work.

Didn't do much with my day off and now I'm just waiting to see if the NASCAR race that got rained on in Chicago this afternoon is really going to be restarted at 10:05 Eastern time, which is 10 minutes from now. I'm hoping that it will because I won't be able to watch it if it's run tomorrow. I hope the rest of you have had a great weekend, except for poor Sandy, who I know has not. I hope that her week gets much better and that the cleaning goes quickly. Enjoy the start of the new week. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy this sounds like you are in the final leg of the move and that it is a good thing if the mold is starting to take a toll on you. I am sure you will really be happy to be moved in.

We went to breakfast this morning with Vicky & Sonny and this afternoon the 4 of us and our friends, Don & Lin played Hand & Foot and sorry to say the guys were meanies and beat us up but good! Guess we will have to get back at them next time we play! Am glad that the snowbirds are starting to return, it means cooler weather will be following soon too and more friends to do things with.

I am finally feeling human again and hopefully will soon be completely rid of whatever had it's hold on me.

We went over today and cleaned more of the house today. Just can't believe how much dirt and grim there is. Monday we will pick up a truck and start moving boxes over and then Wednesday the big items will go over. We have Coit coming Tuesday since they were unable to make it last week. Wednesday we also have the New dishwasher being installed. The cook top will be put in on the 24th of Sept. I hope. I'm just about finished cleaning here at the rental. I will be so glad to get out of here as the mold has become so bad. My allergies are so bad.

I will have the Pictures up hopefully tomorrow for all of you to see.

Hope that everyone is having a great weekend.

Yes, that apple butter sounds yummy. I think of it and Silver Dollar City near Branson, MO as they were always making some and you always got samples! My grandmother used to make peach butter and I never see that anywhere. Wish I had learned back then how she made it!

Glad that the rains are not as bad for you Val. I am sure you are enjoying getting some relief from the dry weather. We just have not gotten the rains like we should have this summer-no tropical storms to bring us any-not that I am wishing for bad storms but the rain would be nice.

I am so happy that your house is coming together and by next week you will be all moved in and finally able to sit back and relax!! I know it has been a long hard battle to find the right house and then to finally close on it, but you DID IT!!!

I walked this morning and then have done nothing else. I decided if I am ever going to get over whatever has gotten ahold of me that I need to rest and sleep and let my body heal so that is what I have done. I took a nap after breakfast and this afternoon just relaxed and read. We have another trip planned for a week from Sunday so I want to be feeling good so I can enjoy it.

Hope all have had a wonderful weekend.

We are definitely getting the edge of what's going on in Colorado, but luckily what we're getting isn't quite that bad. It rained most of the day today and it's supposed to do the same tomorrow. In fact, according to the little Weather Channel App I've got on my computer, it's supposed to keep on raining until 2:00 Sunday morning, be partly cloudy for about a day, and then start raining again. And I am absolutely loving it. Strangely, it hasn't felt nearly as humid as it felt earlier in the summer but we didn't get any rain at that time. I have no idea about exactly how much rain we've gotten, maybe I'll check that out tomorrow if I'm not busy at work.

Sandy, I'm so happy that things are coming along so well for you. Can't wait to see pics of your new digs. emoticon

I was told to come home from work an hour early today to mitigate little bits of overtime I've been getting by not getting out the door as soon as my shift is over. It's a hard thing to do sometimes, at least if you're a conscientious tech who wants to make sure that her work is finished before she goes home, but I guess that's not my company's big emphasis right now. emoticon Anyway, with all of this extra time I have before I have to go to bed tonight I think I'm going to read the book I started a few days ago on my Kindle. On Sunday my concert friend wants me to go out for burgers with her, a close friend who I think wants to be her boyfriend, and her new boyfriend. I don't go out much so I think it will be fun. Then on Monday I'm going to take my friend with cancer and (I hope) my concert friend to lunch. This is more socializing than I generally do in a week, but I think it will be fun. emoticon For now I'd better finish reading my emails and get off the darn computer. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend...and that I keep on getting lots and lots of rain. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Well, we received our New Refrig. today. So, now the house is really starting to feel like a home. We cleaned the hardwood floors today also before the Refrig came. We cleaned most of the downstairs today. We just need to finish cleaning the counter tops, a couple of the drawers and the inside of 3 closets. DH is going to clean the closets upstairs tomorrow and finish vacuuming. Then I will clean the two bathrooms upstairs. Then we are good to go.

My heart goes out to those that are living in Colorado. They are really getting hit with rain. Things are not good for them right now and I pray that things will get better here soon.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend.

We will start moving in on Monday. emoticon

Val I guess you are getting some of the rain that is causing such havoc in Colorado. Hope it doesn't get bad like it did there. Those poor people.
Sandy I am so happy that things are coming together and by this time next week I hope you busily getting settled in. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
I did manage to drag myself out and walk this morning. I only did 2.5 miles but will get back to my 5 miles in a few days-not walking much during our trip and then getting sick really threw a monkey wrench in things but I won't let it derail things.
I got my sweet potato plant pruned back today-I could not believe how much it grew in just 10 days! I cut back a 10 gallon bucket full and it is still huge!!
I was so excited when I got the call that my new sunglasses did come in this afternoon. Went right up to the mall to pick them up. That is certainly a relief to have them.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sandy, I'm so glad that you're accomplishing so much and getting everything in the house to the way you want it to be. (Goodness knows the color scheme HAD to be changed. emoticon ) When are you planning on moving in? You're going to be so happy once all of the work is finally done and you can just sit and relax for a moment or two.

We've been having rain, glorious rain. emoticon It's been raining a good portion of the last 2 days and it looks like it may continue for a few days more. emoticon My ex husband used to tell me that he didn't like rain because it was boring. (He came from Bogota, Colombia, where it rains every single afternoon and/or evening.) I always told him that here in the desert rain is a cause for celebration and that's how I feel right now. 2 days worth of rain has been AWESOME. It even made my hair a little bit curly for the first time in my entire life! When I got up this morning and looked in the mirror the front of my hair was all cute and curly so I just decided to leave it exactly the way it was. It will probably never look like that again, but at least I got one day of having curly hair. emoticon

2 more days in my work week. I've become a bit confused about what day I'm on over the last couple of weeks. Still love the new schedule, but I never seem to know what day it is until Friday and Saturday come. emoticon I hope the rest of you have fun things planned for your weekend...more fun than working and cleaning house...

There was much rejoicing!

New carpeting and hard wood floor went today. The painting came out beautiful and now the carpet is in with wood floor in the gym room.It really looks nice. Tomorrow we are suppose to get the Refrig. We are going to get a truck also and start moving the boxes this weekend over. We did go to Lowe's and pick up a few things but, we still need to go back and pick up a couple more. We thought we were going to need a new closet door but one of the carpet guys fixed it for us.

Taking pictures tomorrow with no furniture. Then I will take one after I have furniture in.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Made it home yesterday and been very busy ever since!!
Laundry done, car washed, things put up, car in for oil change, ordered new sun glasses (mine broke on the trip), grocery shopping done and Abbie bathed. Lots more to get done but ran out of time or maybe I just ran out of steam!!!

Clee,
Yes that sounds like a messed up deal, yes my grandson has football practices a few weeks before school starts and he is encouraged to work out and go to football camps during the summer, so that is crazy to expect kids to get the flow and how each other works in one week.
Its like that at most places of employment, they want everything done but fewer people and they want it done the same way it was when more people were doing the job. Some of the people in our district are staying over 3 and 4 hours without pay to get their work done. I go in about 20 to 30 min. each day for free just to get some stuff done because I can’t get it all done otherwise. But there was a huge shortfall of money last year so the district can’t afford anything or anyone it seems.
Oh well maybe next year I will apply at another district, we shall see, maybe things will get better as time goes on. I hope they do for you also.

Pat glad you are feeling better.

Sandy you are a busy woman, it sounds like you are making progress. I bet you are excited to be in your own house again.

I got home today and I looked around and just sighed, my husband had the day off yesterday and he canned some tomatoes, but he just doesn’t feel the need to clean up after himself like I do, so I cleaned some for an hour or so when I got off work, but it still looks like a very lived in house. Its just so hard to keep up on it all. We do all of the paperwork for the business from home so it looks like a cluttered office also, I made the mistake of letting the computer room be next to the dinning room, it is convenient but its always messy it seems.
Oh well, I am not going to make myself crazy over it, I have been in that frame of mind before and I wasn’t to happy about things.
Well time to go sorry for venting I hope you all have a good evening.

Good morning!

Pat the tour sounds like fun. I’m from Tennessee originally and maybe I’ll get to go on one of my visits home.

Tammy, the administrators at the school would really prefer if everyone left when the last bell rang. We’ve been told, “why are you doing all of that” as it relates to summer rehearsals, weekend practices, etc. In a high school marching band, we have to participate in every home football game. Each year, the first football game is the Friday during the first week of school. Now, tell me how you can start school on a Monday and be prepared to play on that Friday without putting in some time during the summer. The football team can’t do it, so why do you expect us to do it. Also, we are a competition band that has done extremely well throughout the state of Florida. But instead of encouragement and support, we’re told we’re doing too much. I’m still amazed that these administrators work with children?!?!?!?!?

Went to Lowe's today and picked up a New light fixture for the Master bathroom. We also got a few other items also. We picked up one vent cover in wood color to match the wood floors instead of the white one. We are going to try it first to be sure it looks & fits right before we change the others. We are almost done packing up the rest of the items.

I will be happy to get out of here as we are starting to smell mold. I am really allergic to mold and my allergies are really starting to bother me.

Tomorrow the ducts get cleaned and the next day the Carpet goes in. I also just found out that my Cousin and her husband are in town for the weekend. So, they want to come by on Thursday to see the house and that is the only day they can come. So, on top of the Carpet people coming I have my Cousins come by. emoticon I am hoping that the Carpet people come early and my Cousins come as they are finishing. But, with my luck they could both show up at the same time. HA!

Well, hope that everyone's week is getting better. :)

Thanks everyone for the well wishes-I am finally feeling better-maybe it was sniffing all that alcohol today-LOL! We had a good time taking the tour today. If any of you ever get a chance to take it, it is worth the trip off the beaten path to the little town of Lynchburg, TN to take the tour. The basic tour is free and takes about 90 min but does involve a lot of walking and has a lot of steps. They also offer a tasting tour for a fee. I believe it is $10 for that one but since we didn't opt to do that, I am not sure. After taking the tour, we went to the little downtown-it is shops and several restaurants around a town square. We were surprised that a lot of the shops were not open today.
We have continued following the path less traveled and managed to stay off of the interstate. Think we will try to make it home without getting on it.
Getting late and I am tired tonite but wanted to check in.
