Good Afternoon:

Today the library came to pick up the rest of the boxes of books and the tree service just left after having trimmed the trees. I was going to remove two locusts in the front but my daughter told me not to do that if I had any inclination to sell because large, mature trees are a big selling point. I hope to get to the gym today and read. The ladies won't be coming this week because hospice needs them to work in the store, so I'll be saving everything for next week and the week after, and the week after, etc...LOL

Arthur calmed down a bit yesterday and last night but I still had to take aspiring twice yesterday. Any of you sometimes have that problem?

Enjoy the day.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Pat, I actually heard about the explosion at that Blue Rhino plant on the local news this morning. Scary stuff but I'm glad to know that not nearly as many people were hurt as could have been. I hope none of the injured end up dying. We've seen enough of these tragedies recently to last several lifetimes.

There was much rejoicing!

We had a bit of excitement down south - not sure if any of you saw it on the news-a Blue Rhino Plant (makes the propane for BBQ tanks) in Tavares blew up about 10:30. It sounded like a bomb went off and then more explosions kept going for a long, long time. On the news they said 53,000 tanks blew up! We could see the glow from where we live-it lit up the sky for hours. We stayed up till about 1 watching the report on the news. Thankful no one was killed outright but 4 of the workers are in critical condition in 3 different burn units-2 in Orlando, 1 in Gainesville, and 1 in Ocala.
Staying up late didn't help me or DH a lot-we were up by 6 as I have to walk early or it gets too hot. DH went for his coffee and donuts this morning with Sonny. I worked in the park gardens for about 90 min after my walk. I have to get it done before 11 or it almost makes me ill on these hot days. I actually came inside to work by 10 today.
DH helped me and we have most of the stuff cleared out of the spare bedroom. I have a bag for the thrift store, 1 of Abbie's old toys to give to the dog rescue-she gets so many given to her at Christmas so I will share them with some less fortunate pooches. I sorted some things from the RV that we hope to sell at the next community yard sale. Tomorrow I hope to pull everything out of the closet and get it sorted and that room will be decluttered!
This afternoon I went and made Abbie's grooming appointment at a new place. It also has doggie daycare so she will get to play with the other pooches before and after her grooming.
Pat

We have a home to look at hopefully tomorrow. Just really nothing new that peeks my interest right now.

Weather has cool down right now but, we are expecting some rain and thunder storms here tomorrow night. Hopefully no lighting as we have 2 fires going on right now up in the Mountains. We can smell it not see it. The fires are not close to us. But, it is effecting my asthma.

Gail - You are doing a great job. It must feel really good watching it all go away and having so much room.

Tammy - Your kitties are so cute. And sound like so much fun.

Pat - Glad that the two of are out and about. Glad that everything so far went well with Bill.

Val - That was too funny in a way. I hope that he found his cat. It really isn't the type of weather any animal should be out in especially a cat.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Gail, thank you so much for your prayers. I treasure every single prayer that is said on my behalf because I know that every single one is answered. Not always the way I might like, but they're being answered by the One who knows better than I do what the best answer is. I'm not looking forward to the prep at all...but I think I'm the only person in the world who has ever actually looked forward to a colonoscopy! emoticon I want so answers, doggone it!

I can't believe it's only Tuesday. We've been so busy at work that I feel like at least a week must have gone by since I woke up yesterday morning. No wonder I'm so tired. emoticon

I only have to get up at 3:00 in the morning 3 more times. Hallelujiah!! I've seen glasses that say "Beer is proof that God loves us." Well not having to get up at 3:00 anymore sure does feel like proof that God loves me. emoticon

Anyway, I'd better get to bed. I don't want a repeat of the MS issues I had because I was so tired this morning...Everyone have a really great Wednesday.

Hello Again:

It's another cool day and all I can say is the weather has been crazy. First is was so hot it felt like the third layer of hell. For the past few days it's gone down to the 50s with highs in the 60s or low 70s. What's going on?

Yesterday I came across some more film from the 1940s and I'm going to get my courage up and have it developed. I fear it was surreptitiously taken at the camps or in occupied German countries during WWII. I've got at least 6 such rolls.

Arthur came to visit me the last few nights and it hasn't been pretty. Thankfully, a couple of aspirin seems to put him in his place. What next?

Hoping you all have a very happy day.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Good Evening:

I'm about to drop. The professor and the student were here for 6 1/2 hours today and they just left. I was going to go to the gym, but I'll consider it a big accomplishment to just take a shower, wash my hair and brush my teeth. I wasn't lifting, but I was with them all the time to make sure that some serious stuff didn't get tossed. There must be over 50 boxes of books destined for the library. South Central Wisconsin Libraries is sending a truck over tomorrow morning. I cannot wait!

Things went better today because there was a lot of room and the boxes were pretty accessible. The next, and hopefully final load of boxes, are tucked along the west and north wall of the basement, and things will have to be cleared out before we can get to them. Tomorrow will be a day of rest and Wednesday the ladies will come from hospice. Friday morning Travis will be here and it will be another carload of things to put up for the next auction. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

I did without gluten today and it was OK. Hope I can get used to it.

Gail

Val; I'll keep you in my prayers. Hope they can figure out your stomach problems.

Sandy: So glad you're so positive about the house hunting. When do you have to be out of your current place?

Pat: It's good that Bill was able to help you even a little by shredding the papers.

Enjoy each day.

Gail, I hope the professor didn't leave you with a bigger mess this time. Hopefully it worked out for him to work in your garage. I just know you will be so happy when this is all over with.

Sandy it sounds like you are staying positive and I am glad you are happy with your agent. Real estate really just be hot out there. Things are moving here, but nothing like your area.

Val I would not like your schedule-I hate getting up to go walking at 6 am. However, many moons ago I did work swing shifts for Delta Airlines - it seemed I never could adjust to the schedule because it was constantly changing.

I did my morning walk and then didn't accomplish much the rest of the morning. We ate breakfast and then took Abbie to potty park and stopped to chat with Vicky & Sonny and it was 11:30 before we got home! I got busy and put together a vegetable soup in the crock pot but didn't get it cooking till almost 12:30 so it wasn't done in time for dinner. Luckily I had some frozen slices of turkey pot pie from a previous meal so I thawed them and heated that up and we had that with a fresh ear of corn.
This afternoon we started to declutter our spare bedroom. I got DH to shred some old paperwork for me and I caught the ironing up and did some sorting. We worked about 90 min and I called it quits for the day. I am going to have a load to take to the thrift store to donate before we are finished.
I finally sat down to read the newspaper and then I caught up my paperwork for the park. I get a budget I use to purchase things so I took my receipts and got my cash balanced to turn in for month end.
A little before 4 Vicky called to see if I wanted to come to the pool so headed down for a refreshing dip. I got home about 5:30 and got busy on dinner.
Hope all of you had a good day.
Pat

Strangely enough, having that man approach me about his cat didn't freak me out the other day. I'm usually really suspicious of strangers who approach me, but I didn't get any kind of bad vibe from this guy at all. And then after he asked me about the cat he just walked away so I guess I just never got the chance to feel uncomfortable about it. (Either that or I was just embarrassed to be caught holding a 12 pack of toilet paper. emoticon ) I sure hope they found their cat because that was one godawful storm the poor little thing got stuck out in. I'd be worried about any animal that was outside that night.

My week started out okay. We were busy as all heck today at work, but at least that always makes the day go by pretty quickly. I didn't accomplish everything I'd wanted to accomplish today, but I did get a lot of it done and tomorrow I'll be in the same department again so I should be able to finish the rest of it. This is my last week of having to get up at 3:00 in the morning to go to work.

Next week I start on my evening shift schedule, and the week after that I have my colonoscopy on Monday. I'm not looking forward to that at all, but hopefully we'll get some good information from it. I'm really not expecting them to find cancer or anything like that because the only real symptom I have is diarrhea that just won't go away, but sometimes I get a little bit nervous because I know that it is a possibility. I go back to see my new doctor on the 20th so I'm hoping to get some answers by then.

I hope the week started out well for the rest of you. I'm going to go read the rest of my emails and try to go to sleep early tonight. We had lots of loud thunder that kept me awake last night so I could use a calm night and some good sleep. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

My Agent has been fine. It's been the other Agents that have not been showing up. On the weekends DH & I go on our own to look, if our Agent doesn't have anything for us or we don't have anything planned.

So, nothing came up on the MLS Market today. DH went and played Golf. Thought he could use a break. I did some cleaning and Laundry, packing, along with a few other things around the house. I have now gotten the Guest room all ready for my BIL to arrive. He is coming in August 6 and will be here a week. Then my SIL is suppose to come up for a visit toward the end of the month.

I am hoping that we will have a place by either DH's birthday in September or at the latest by mine in October. I really love Halloween and the Holidays and would like to be all moved in by then.

Hope you all are having a great week!

Good Morning:

PBS had a piece on the Virgin diet a while back and I recorded it. Just last Friday I listened to it. Think I'm going to try to eliminate gluten from my diet for a week and see what happens.

Tree service is coming today to trim my trees and remove two bushes that died last winter. Also, the UW professor is coming this afternoon to sort books destined for the UW and archival materials for an institute in NYC. I'll be so glad when this nightmare is over.

Wishing you all a good day.

Gail

Good evening. I can relate to being tired Gail. I get up early to walk every morning or I can't get my walk in so I often don't get enough sleep. I thought I would get a nap this afternoon, but DH invited Vicky & Sonny over to play cards. So, no nap, but we had a good time even if the guys beat us pretty badly.
We had quite the thunderstorm this afternoon. It rained hard off and on and then a slower rain for another couple of hours.
Hope all of you have had a good day.

Gail, I am here I have checked in and read the posts a couple times but I have been busy and grumpy while my A/C was broke. I is fixed and I am doing much better. I hope you enjoy your nap today.
Pat that is good they cauterized the bleeding spots, I hope that fixed the problem, you are rally having a hard time with your DH, I really admire you for taking care of him and still getting your exercise and things you need to do done. I tend to shut down under that kind of stress. And do nothing but worry and eat.
Val sorry you didn’t get to go to your concert, that’s good it is rescheduled. That freaked me out when you said that guy came and asked you about a cat, there are a lot of scams by predators who use that to lure women into wherever they want to abuse them, I am glad it was a real cat missing, well not that I am glad the cat is missing, but glad it wasn’t a predator stalking you.
Sandy just keep looking and try to keep smiling. I have 2 kittens and they are cute but also a pain, they don’t like to be ignored, when they want attention they want it NOW, they climb my legs, walk all over the keyboard, run between my legs when I am walking, I have almost tripped several times from that. I am sure they will get less clingy once they get al bit older, I am just mom and they want mom.

Have a great afternoon ladies.

Good Afternoon:

I'm dead tired and will probably have a good, long nap today. I finished a third book last night and didn't get to sleep till 2am. This morning I was up by 7am. Yuk!

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Gail

Val: I hope that concert comes off in September. What a disappointment. I know how much you were looking forward to it.

Pat: So glad the cauterized Bill's bleeding spots. Hope everything is better for him now and will keep my fingers crossed that the biopsies come out negative.

Sandy: Wow, you really have had a stream of bad luck with agent's not showing up. Maybe it's time to get a new one.

Tammy: How are you doing? We haven't heard too much from you.

Nan: Are you back from vacation yet?

Enjoy each day.

Sorry I have been MIA. Bill had his procedure Thursday afternoon and we didn't get home until 9 PM. When we did, I tried to get online to let you all know about it and no internet connection. I wasn't up to dealing with it at that point so didn't call until Fri morning and they didn't make it out till today so, no internet.for 2 days
They called to come in early for Bill's procedure-said to come at 1:15 and then we sat and sat! Might as well been at home where we have nice recliners. They finally took him back at 3 but he said that it was after 5 when he was taken into the surgery area and I got to come back about 6 and wait for him to get out. It was after 7 when we walked out of there!! Bill was starved so we stopped at Olive Garden to get him soup & salad. Vicky & Sonny came to meet us. By the time we finally got home it was after 9!
The dr found 4 sites where it was bleeding internally and he cauterized them. He also took some biopsies and we will get those results in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this will help him get over the anemia and tiredness. I am sure that more bloodwork will be ordered to check him in a month or so.
Val have you considered getting the window guards so you can leave your windows cracked without getting rain in there. We consider them a necessity down here.
Gail good for you for letting the professor know you will be moving him. So hard to deal with inconsiderate people. I am happy you are already planning your next trip. We just want to be able to plan a week or so get away but haven't been able to yet!
Sandy sorry nothing has come up yet but hopefully soon-it is out there, just be patient.

Well we didn't get to go to our concert last night. I wasn't feeling really great and my friend was afraid that her dogs would destroy her house based on the way they had reacted to the thunder and lightning the night before. (She told her Doberman "Maggie, no!" right as the lightning flashed and the thunder boomed simultaneously, and that dog was not a happy girl. Probably thought that was how mad Mom was. emoticon ) So we went to a few places to get gift cards for the monthly giveaways at work instead. We drove around in her jeep with her dogs, which was really fun for me. He dogs are real sweethearts and I'm not the slightest bit allergic to them. Hooray!! When I got home Little Kitty was not impressed by the fact that Mama smelled like (oh heavens!) DOGS! She kept sniffing my hands and then got as far away from me as she possibly could...while still sitting on the computer desk... emoticon (I felt like I had been severely punished...until I washed my hands and she forgave me and snuggled up on the bed...)

Our concert was canceled after the opening act played. Our friend who went said that the organizers/officials/whoever told everyone to leave and get out of the rain. (I guess it was pretty bad again last night.) The concert has been rescheduled for Sunday September 22nd so we should both be able to go to it...as long as the weather calms down a bit...I'm not going to complain about this weather at all. We've been getting as much rain in a night as we've gotten in entire years recently, and goodness knows we can use it. Last night while I was waiting for Stephanie to come pick me up I realized that I was down to my last roll of toilet paper so I went to get another package out of the trunk of my car. A gentleman came across the parking lot and asked me if I'd seen a little black cat. He said that she had been outside when the storm hit the night before and had not been home since. I didn't have the heart to tell him that if she was outside during that storm then there's a really good chance that she drowned because of the rain that was just pouring down in what has been described to me as sheets. I hope she finds her way home, but I'm really glad that my own kitties were not out in that biblical downpour.

So anyway, I hope that you're all having a great weekend. Thank you to everyone who finally sent us some rain, though you can take back the 70 percent humidity and I won't be at all sad...

There was much rejoicing!

Val - Oh, I hate lighting. It scares me. So, I feel for you as that would keep me up too.

Gail - Hang in there. Tomorrow is another day.

Tammy - That kitten sounds really cute.

Pat - I hope all goes good tomorrow with Bill. My prayers are with him.

DH and I went and looked at 2 more homes today. One house was supposed to be a Open House but, yet again no signs no Agent. So, I called and left a message. The other we drove by just to see if we could hear the freeway. And we could hear it pretty good. So, I will look some more tomorrow to see if anything new comes up.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

This past week has been very difficult for me, so today I was very lazy and didn't even get dressed. I've been reading all day; finished one book and read another. Will now start on a third.

Sandy: Hang in there. The right home will come along.

Enjoy each day.

Sandy I am glad you are getting closer to your dream house.
Val it sounds like you had quite a storm. My one kitten woke me at 3;30 just crawling all over me meowing, I took her downstairs and made sure she had food and water and shut the bedroom door so she couldn’t get back in!
I hope you had fun at the concert. That sounds fun.
Gail it sounds like you are just plugging along, it sounds like that professor is not very considerate of your things. How rude. You did the right thing by letting them know how you feel.
Your next trip sounds wonderful.
Pat I hope bills appointment went ok, that is hard no food or water until late afternoon. I would just sleep as long as possible if it were me.
My kitten is crawling all over the keyboard so time to gojjjjjjjjjjjjj

Well we had some WEATHER last night...and as usual, my car windows were not closed all the way... emoticon Apparently we started having lightning around 11:30 and then right at midnight I was awakened by a HUGE clap of thunder. Got up and used the bathroom, and the thunder just kept on coming and coming for a couple of hours. It started raining really hard and I was thinking about putting my nightgown on and going out to close my car windows when I saw a really bright flash of lightning followed by a really loud clap of thunder before I could even count "one thousand one." Apparently that kind of lightning with immediate thunder was going on all over the city and some people got to see one heck of a show, but I was trying to go back to sleep. In the morning the front seats of my car were just soaked, but oh well. I found a towel in the back seat, folded it up, and sat on it on my way to work.

So that's how my day started, with too little sleep and a lot of noise that really stressed out my poor kitties. Then my analyzer had issues not long after I got to work and I spent my entire day dealing with that. emoticon But now it's over and I've only heard a little bit of thunder recently. It may rain tonight, but my friend and I are going to go to this concert unless all hell breaks loose. Hopefully we won't get rained on too badly...or struck by lightning...I hope the rest of you have a really great weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

I worked this morning with Travis and away he went with another load for the next auction. I've given him some rather expensive things this time including some train sets (still in original boxes), tools and accessories, and jewelry (a vintage man's watch).

I've already planned my next break: a trip that will take me through northern Europe, and then to Iceland, Greenland and Nova Scotia, Canada. I've been working especially hard since I returned from the Ukraine, especially focusing on ridding myself of the archival materials and books. It has been very stressful. Today I discovered that the professor had simply tossed stuff off to the side in a heap. At the bottom was on of the boxed train sets. I was heartsick when I saw that the box was badly crushed. Anyone into toys knows that the box is sometimes worth more than the toy. This discovery bothered me all day. I think working in the garage will help a lot, but I'm going to be down in the basement as the professor goes through the boxes to identify those that are pertinent to him.

Val: Hope your day tomorrow is especially good. Enjoy the concert.

Pat: How did things go for Bill today?

Sandy: So, how was the open house? Are you interested?

Enjoy each day.

Gail, I think you handled the situation with the professor just the right way. I think it's wonderful that he's able to get historical data for the university from some of Vic's stuff, but he's obviously not after simplicity the way you are. And with all of the visits from Travis, where do you think you'd like to travel next? You're never going to get rich selling Vic's accumulate stuff, but at least you're making room for yourself in your home and getting to see places you otherwise might never have seen.

Tomorrow my friend and I are going to see Luke Bryan and then I'm going to work on Saturday. I've had a few nice paychecks recently, but I'm really tired of working overtime all the time. A few two day weekends will be very nice, I'm sure. (I almost remember what those were like...) I hope Friday is a great day for all of you.

There was much rejoicing!

Pat- I will keep Bill in my prayers. Glad that Bill's eye is doing better.

Gail - I am glad that you were able to have someone to help you get the mess all cleaned up and that he was kind of enough to take the empty boxes to the curb for you.

Going to look at another house tonight as they only allow people to see the after 6:30pm to 9pm. Weird but, OK. So that is the plan.

Weather has been a little warm. It was 86 here yesterday. It is suppose to get cooler to the next couple of days.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Yesterday I emailed the professor and indicated it would be best if he work in the garage. That way the basement will be able to accommodate the others who come weekly: the hospice volunteers and Travis. I carefully worded the note to focus on the benefits to him as well as others.

Travis is coming this morning and I figured I'd go to the gym, the thrift shop (to drop off the receipt for my donations), and grocery. I'm out of those Karlbrun sparkling waters.

Hope your weather is as beautiful as it is here,

Gail

Pat: Will be thinking of you and Bill today; good luck to him.

Gail, good for you. We all reach our breaking points at different times and you have obviously reached yours. Hopefully all of this will go better in the future and if not, I guess you'll just end up with more boxes of stuff to throw away instead of letting people look through it for is historical value. Hopefully it will not come to that, but I don't think that your concerns in this regard are at all unreasonable. (At least the student was aware of the fact that you needed some tidying up of the mess the professor has been making.)

Pat, how incredibly exciting to finally be able to use your shower! Hooray!! How is Bill doing today?

I'm too exhausted right now to try to tell you all about how frustrating work was today so I'm just going to go to sleep now and if tomorrow is equally frustrating then I'll tell you guys all about it tomorrow evening. Until then, everyone stay cool and have a great night.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Evening:

Well, I worked for 2 1/2 hours this morning with the student . He straightened out some of the mess the professor had left, and he hauled boxes up from the basement. We took the trash to the curb and filled 10 trash bags. They were left right beside my recycle trash container for the pick-up this morning. What a relief to get those out of the way. This afternoon the ladies from the Hospice Thrift Shop came and we worked filling boxes with my donations. I had over 100 coffee table books, vintage clothing, collectibles and furniture for them. After they left the total donations came to $3,500... that's assuming the prices they charge for the donations.

Travis emailed me this morning and told me the last auction brought me $1, 094. See, I told you the auctions would pay for my trip. Right now I'm so exhausted it's not funny. Tomorrow morning Travis is coming again to take another carload of stuff for the next auction. Crazy what people will pay. In this last auction a Dracula figure in the box went for $92 and Mr. Potato Head went for over $60. On the flip side, several items I was sure would bring in a good price sold for only $3.

I was so upset on Monday after the professor left that I wrote a letter to the chief archivist of the institute in NYC. I told her I could not pass the materials on letting her give little or no thought as to what it is taking to get these materials to her. I was not bitter, nor did I want sympathy. I just wanted her not to take me for granted.

Well, it's the showers and bed for me even though it's only 7:15 PM.

Sweet dreams,

Gail

Sandy: Just hang in there. We are all behind you.

Enjoy each day.

Pat - I am so very happy that Bill's eye is doing better. I will still keep him in my thoughts and prayers that it will continue. I am so glad that you were able to get out and have some fun and away from everything for a while. emoticon

Gail - Val is right. Can you say something to the Professor about how he goes about it. You have worked so hard is getting things together. Or maybe you can put all the things he wants in one area away from everything else so he won't bother anything. That is just not right.

Cooperpenny - The guy is from India and the problem really is the fact that I am a women that is buying a home with a man as a couple with cash. It is my own money so my boyfriend/DH is not on the contract. Plus my Agent is a women. In his country the women have no say, money, rights and so on. Most of the people who come from India to the US don't carry their culture rituals with them when they become US citizens. But, some still do. As a friend told me - it's offenses that this one does. That is why he would come down in price. We can't say that for sure but, it might be a good possibility. Then the time before that we had the people who first started with moving out Sept. 1 and money on table for rent and another place to live to another buyer offing them to stay till Oct 4th for Free. But, I had cash for then they came back to me and asked if I would do the same. We are renting. So, I figure if their new house is not built yet and we live in the Northwest - well, you kind of see were I'm going. Plus there starting this now before we buy - NOPE, I'm out of here. So, we are still looking.

So, speaking of which we looked at 2 more today. One that looked good was not so good as it had renters as the owner left. Plus too small. The other didn't look good and needed work - Really needed more work then we wanted to put in plus the price wasn't right. So, we will be back out tomorrow.

And, Yes the right one is out there we just have not seen it yet or come across it. But we are close. My Agent has been really great and very encouraging with me. I was pretty down yesterday and She and DH gave me a great talk. And along with reading all of your comments. So, thank you!

Hope you all have a great week.

First, the good news-eye seems better again today. Thanks for the prayers-they are working. I managed to get out today and have a nice girl's day out. Vicky, her daughter, granddaughter and I were got for about 7 hours. We introduced them to thrift store shopping and they loved it!!! Felt good to get away and forget things for a few hours. I did call to check in but that was it!
Gail couldn't you ask the professor to keep things a bit neater? Maybe he just is oblivious to what he is leaving you-men don't seem to notice these things!
Our shower is almost done. John came while I was gone but Bill was here. He now has the shower door on, the holder for the shower soap and shampoo, the new towel bar and toilet paper holder. He has to install the grab bar and the trim on the outside and he will be totally done. Will be so nice to take a shower in there!
Sandy hope something comes along soon, but like someone else said, the right house is out there, you just haven't come to it yet.
Thanks again to all of you-I am so thrilled that today things look better again.

Pat

Good Evening:

You wouldn't believe it; I don't believe it. I worked with Travis for three hours this morning and he took a carload of things away for the next auction. In the afternoon the professor and a student came to sort things that go to various UW libraries, Friends (for their book sale) and the institute in NYC. The professor is well meaning and a hard worker, but he leaves everything in shambles. Instead of packing the book boxes with some care he just throws it all in. Instead of lining up the boxes of books, he has them on top or beside each other with a lot of wasted space. The student arranged the boxes so they take up less room, so now the garage is a workable area. They went to the basement and started going through the boxes there. I nearly died when I went down there. There is no room for the Hospice volunteers to open the boxes and do their work. The student will come Wednesday morning and bring the boxes they've filled up to the garage. Wednesday is garbage day and I don't know what I will do: my recycling bin and garbage bins are overflowing. Today I made three trips to the nearby low income housing. They have dumpsters there and I unloaded 3 SUV loads of empty boxes to be recycled. They must have 10 or more boxes of trash already set aside in the garage and I don't know what I will do. I'll see if my sil will come over and take an SUV load over to the recycling center. It's mostly newspaper articles, notes and other paper stuff. I cannot wait till this is over. I can't wait. The professor and student came at 1:30 PM; they just left and it's past 8 PM. I was going, going going all day. Now I just want to take a shower and hop into bed.

Sorry for sounding off, but I'm so frustrated. I try so hard to get things done in an orderly fashion so that the professor, Travis and the volunteers can work efficiently, and he comes in and it's like a cyclone hit the place. He leaves a messy trail wherever he goes.

Sweet dreams all,

Gail

Pat: Still praying for you and Bill.

Enjoy each day.

My S-I-L came & picked up my GS Fri evening. Sat they had a pool party for him. Later it rained 2 1/2 inches in an hour. A town 6 miles from them had 5 inches in an hour. They had flooding where they'd never had floods before.

Bill went to the aution & got me a recliner /rocker for my sewing room. The old chair was so old it just came apart. Sat I cleaned out drawers in the sewing room. I have 2 sacks started for 2 friends. I'm going to move some stuff around so I'm sure I'll have more to give. Most of the things I've done has been out of sight. I'd like to be able to see some results. harp, you really must be feeling great at getting rid of so much. I think it's easier to collect than get rid of.

Pat, hope Bill's eyes are getting better.

Val, do you like conserts? My DD liek to go to them. She took my DGD (& 2 other girls) to a concert in Minn. Can't remember the name but it was 9 hours one way. The said it was worth it.

Shiv, I hope that you get a house soon. This is crazy. What will that guy do if no one gives him what he wants?

Hope everyone has a good & safe day!

Pat so sorry about bill, I will keep you both in my prayers.

I am managing to stay cool , thank-you Gail, my DH is miserable because he is to proud or something to take a cool shower or bath or run through the sprinklers, I figure if he gets hot enough he will. Wow 60’s is nice, that’s where the temps are here in the evenings and it is nice.
It sounds like you need to take a break from all the stress of sorting and getting rid of stuff, maybe take a day or two off for just you to recharge your batteries. So sorry you have to go through so much stuff, it has inspired me to de-clutter more now though, because I don’t want my kids to have to deal with what you are going through.

Sandy I hope your house finds you soon. Its out there somewhere. Maybe this is just a test of your patience because the right house just hasn’t come on the market yet.

Val, yes the other day I just sat in a cool tub until my skin wrinkled, it has been 100 + for about 6 days, and of course that is the time frame our A/C broke, but its supposed to be a few degrees cooler the next few days. I am doing good, I even poured water on my dogs yesterday, they looked so hot, they gave me a strange look but they didn’t seem to mind it that much, today I may take them out back and drench them to keep them cool longer.

Well I have a ton of zucchini to blanch and freeze, I am for sure not going to plant 5 plants next year maybe 2, and next week I will be drowning in tomatoes and then winter squash, I need another freezer! but at least it hasn't ripened all at once.
Have a good day everyone.

Pat: You may be sure that I'll keep Bill and you in my prayers. I can imagine the stress you both have right now. Just take it one hour at a time.

Tammy: Please take good care if the weather continues to be so bad. I'm so sorry for you; going without AC during such heat is dangerous. Be sure to drink lots of water and soak in a cool tub of water if you get too hot.

Sandy: Hope something breaks for you soon. Do you have a specific deadline?

Enjoy each day.

Pat - I really hope that things go better for both you and Bill here soon. But, really hope that Bill's eye does get better.

Tammy - I really hope that they get the part for your A/C in sooner than Wed. That has to be awful. Running through the sprinklers is fun.

Well, I ended up going out today to check out a couple of houses. Narrow it downed to 2 homes that I would like to take a look at. Hoping to get a few more to look at but, not a lot to really see.

Weather here has been pretty good. Which has been good since I have been getting the guest room ready for my BIL to arrive the first week of August for about a week or two. Then my SIL is coming up after.

Prayers please - DH's eye is not as good today. So worried it will do what the other one did. So scary for both of us but really bad for DH. If things continue to go downhill, will get in touch with the surgeon. He is scheduled for an endoscopy on Thursday. Just really stressing us both out. We need something to go right for him.

Shower project is 3/4 done-I got the new shower door today and John will come tomorrow to hopefully get it pretty much finished in there. I still have to buy a towel bar and toilet paper holder. I decided to put new in since the old ones do not look very good.

I am supposed to go with Vicky & her daughter tomorrow to some thrift stores. Will go if DH is doing ok.

Good Evening:

It was hotter than blazes here for a few days but after the rain today it got downright cool. It's now in the high 60s. I think it's going up to the 80s again tomorrow but I'll be OK.

My dear friend who died at the end of May gave me an Amazon gift card a couple of weeks before her death. She felt awful that she had missed my birthday. I went on line today, and, with the help of a friend and a techie at Amazon I was able to order some slacks. I hope I got the right size, but I was assured I could send them back if they didn't fit or if I was dissatisfied. It was an ordeal for me. ( I wrote about this in my blog today.)

Tomorrow morning Travis is coming to take another carload of stuff to auction. In the afternoon the professor and a helper are coming to go through the boxes of stuff and sorting the archival materials and the books. The last time he was here he worked for about 8 hours straight! If things go as I hope they will, the ladies from Hospice will come on Wednesday and take a carload of donations. Also, I'm planning on bringing some books and CDs to the book store. UGH So much to do! I'm getting tired just thinking about it.

Gail

Tammy: Good for you for making so much at your garage sale. I have too much stuff to do that so I'm just letting Travis put the stuff up on his auction site for me. It's draining enough as is because we go through everything together and I catalog everything. This week's auction closes tomorrow and some of my things are doing well; others are doing poorly. I guess it evens out. Whatever it is I take what I can get.

Enjoy each day.

Tammy, when I get overheated and know that my swamp cooler isn't going to help the way an air conditioned apartment would, I sometimes take a lot of cold showers. Not as fun as running through the sprinklers, but at least they cool me down for a while.

There was much rejoicing!

Hello everyone just checking in, the heat here is miserable also and my A/C broke Thursday, and they can't get the part until Wed. or Thursday, so I am doing all I can to stay cool including running through the sprinkler. its fun and it helps keep me cool for about an hour.
I had a garage sale this weekend and although we did pretty good, we made about $350.00, it wiped me out getting ready for it and then having to be out in the heat with it.

I hope you are all doing well and trying to keep cool in this heat. I hope none of you are in the storm areas, some people are having a lot of problems.

Val sorry you didn't get to go to the concert but I am sure the rain was much appreciated. I am sure that was not fun running out to close your windows. We have the vent guards on our car so we can leave our windows down a little and not worry about it raining in.
Sandy sorry this one didn't work out either. It is so hard to believe how people out there aren't willing to be "reasonable" about what they are asking for their property.
Gail it sounds like you are well on your way to another trip. That is wonderful. You are becoming quite the world traveler. We are looking forward to going away for 4 days in Oct. It is only to NC - will go to The Biltomore House, an Oktoberfest, and visit the aquarium in Atlanta (going by bus tour). I would like to do more tours like this so I don't have to drive. However, it may soon be possible that DH can start driving again. Could be interesting after 10 years of not driving!
Bathroom is coming along. Only 2 more rows of tile have to be installed. He will be doing the grout tomorrow. I think by early next week we will be able to shower in there.
Twelve of us went to dinner tonight and had a nice time visiting. Felt good to sit back & relax.
Hope all of you have a great weekend.

Good afternoon

I made it to the library and the bank, but I had no energy for the gym. The heat is positively oppressive. Just going from an AC car to the library drained me of all my energy. It's unbelievable! There was a boy of about 16 in the library vestibule who was curled up in a fetal position. Two other boys were with him. They were trying to get him a few paces into the library which has AC. I mentioned he might well be dehydrated and suggested they get him some water right away. It's so dangerous and my heart goes out to those who must bear the heat. Did you hear that three people in Milwaukee died this past week?

Travis was here today and left with a van load of stuff. He's coming back Monday morning to get more stuff. Also,, the professor is coming Monday afternoon to sort things that go to the UW, the NY institute and Friends of the Memorial Library . While I'm at it I'll also sort out things that will go to the book store. I made a good amount this week between the bookstore and auction and will put the money toward my next trip. I expect I'll have all or most of what I need by the time I leave.

OK,don't laugh. My friend, Pat, teasingly asked me if my next trip was to Iceland. Well, guess what? I've planned my next trip and I'll be taking a cruise of northern Europe, Iceland and Greenland. With the exception of Copenhagen and Halifax I have not visited any of the other ports of call. It's only one day in Iceland but that just might be enough. I'm not about to be trekking on a glacier or taking long, long walks. I'd like just enough to have a good look-see. If I want to go back in the future I will.

Just working a few hours this morning and running two errands I'm bushed, so I'll sign off for now.

Sending many hugs,

Gail

Val: That rain is sorely needed. Sorry you're missing the concert but you desperately need the rain. Hope your little kitties are all right. Many animals shake and shiver when they see lightening or hear thunder.

Sandy: Hang in there girl. There will be lots of folks who say no but one will say yes.

Penny: How did the week go with your GS? I bet he kept you on your toes. LOL

Pat: You too, take it easy. Send Bill my best.

Well my friend and I were supposed to go see Alan Jackson this evening...but it's absolutely pouring down rain right now for quite literally the first time all year. We were getting pretty big hail for a while, too. And the front windows of my car are not closed all the way...again. emoticon Luckily it's all coming pretty much straight down so hopefully not much will get in my car. I have this sneaking suspicion that the last 10 minutes of rain and hail have at least doubled our total rainfall for this year and I think that's a very good thing. We've had so little moisture this year that I'll take whatever we can get...even if it means a wet car. emoticon

Okay, so it started raining really hard and stopped coming straight down so I had to go take an umbrella and close my car windows. The front seats are kind of wet and there are pretty good sized marbles of ice on the seats but it will all dry out on its own sooner or later. I think the rain is slowing down now, but it was pretty exciting for a while. The noise from the hail scared the heck out of my kitties and now we're getting thunder, which the girls definitely do not like. I think they're probably both under the bed right now. I'm thinking that this concert may not happen for us tonight, not if there's still thunder and lightning in another hour or two. I really want so see Alan Jackson...but I'd rather not get hit by lightning... emoticon I do love this weather, though.

Sandy, I'm really sorry that another house has not worked out for you. I think it's quite amazing that in this economy so many sellers seem intent on getting their high asking prices instead of taking reasonable offers and being done with the houses they want to move out of anyway. Nobody seems willing to budge or compromise and of course they're going to lose out in the end if they continue to behave that way. emoticon Oh well. I still feel confident that you're going to find the right house at a price you're willing and able to pay. (I really wish there was an emoticon of crossed fingers.)

Yeah, this concert's not going to happen for us tonight. It's still raining really hard (halleluljiah!) and I'm not really in the mood to go sit in the super wet grass even if it does stop raining in time for the concert. Oh well. Either Alan Jackson will be back here some other time or I'll just have to miss out on seeing him. We've got another concert next week (Thompson Square and Luke Bryan) and on August 6th we're going to go see Train. I'll sit in the rain and the wet grass for that one, though I'm sure it's going to be quite dry by that time. This hasn't been much of a monsoon season for us, haven't actually had a good one in a few years, so I'm sure it's almost over...but I think I'll find myself a rain poncho or something like that just in case it rains the day that Train is playing...

So I'm sure that by now you're all wishing that I'd just shut up about rain and concerts. emoticon Pat, I'm so pleased that DH's eye surgery seems to have been so successful. What a gift for him to be able to see again. I hope things continue to go well.

And Gail, do take care not to completely exhaust yourself emotionally. You can recover from physical exhaustion with a bit of rest, but emotional exhaustion can be really difficult to recover from. You're working very hard to clean up the mess that Vic left behind, but please be sure to allow for the fact that you've suffered a huge loss and that emotional healing is just as important as reaching the simplicity that you're working towards. I'm glad that you're able to get away and take trips from time to time. There needs to be more in your life than just sadness and all of this exhausting work you're doing. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well everybody, have a really great weekend. The rain has slowed down but now the front yard (and probably a good deal of the parking lot) is flooded. Thank you all very much for sending me some of your rain. We all appreciate it very much here. Stay safe and cool...and please, please don't send me your heat. I've been loving this cooler than usual July even with the humidity people have been sending me. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Well, we will cross that one off our list too. The seller will not budge from the asking price at all. His Agent is so very frustrated at the seller as he will not budge at all. Even the wife is mad. But, in there culture the wife doesn't have a say. So, I am glad that I have a good Agent that just said No! We are not going any high as it isn't worth it.

So, I am glad. I have sent my Agent a few new homes that I would like to see but, would like her to take a look at and find more information out for me.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It has been warm here. emoticon emoticon

Gail you are continuing to make dents-you must be beginning to see some results in your house. I have to get busy and do some cleaning out-we have been in here going on 8 years and it is starting to feel cluttered-I like to think if something happened to us the kids would not have a big mess to deal with. If I haven't used it in the past couple of years, then I don't need it! Glad you are recupping a teeny bit of your $$$.
Sandy keeping fingers crossed that maybe the seller is finally ready to accept an offer that is lower than what he is wanting.
DH got a good report today at the eye dr. He will have to go back on the 6th and at that time he should get a script for new glasses. He could actually read the eye chart today-amazing!!
John has been her working on our shower. He has one wall nearly tiled and I expect he will be done with the tile tomorrow. It is looking good. Getting anxious to get it done.
I walked early and then did some weeding by the clubhouse. I was getting the area ready for the new mulch. The warm weather and the rain has really made the weeds grow.
Hope all of you have had a great day.
Pat

Good Evening:

Reed, my sil, came over this morning and loaded my car with 9 boxes of books. I brought them to another book store that buys books to see how well I could do. As it turned out they gave me $350 for the lot. Tomorrow Travis will come and he'll take thing for the next auction.

I got my butt to the gym and went around the track 3 times today. I'm working my way up, having started at once around the track. It was good to get it over with. I'm really dragging because of the heat. This weather is downright dangerous.

Stay cool everyone,

Gail

Sandy: Good luck with this new offer.

Pat: Hope Bill continues to feel better. I'm so glad that his vision is better.

Val: Yes, this whole thing...grieving and getting rid of Vic's stuff...is very exhausting in every way. That is why I work on it for a month or two and then I go away. I need to rest and relax after a month or two to get my second wind.

Enjoy each day.

Val - I am sorry about your episode. I hope you don't get them very often.

Gail - You are doing so good of a job of de cluttering. You never know what you have in ones home until someone passes. I realized that when my mom passed. Proud of you!

Pat - I hope that things calm down a little for you. You have been so busy lately. I hope that Bill gets a good report from the doctor.

Well ladies, we came across a home that has been on the Market for 82 days. It has been over priced and the agent told the buyer that but, they were in no hurry. Now they the husband is in Mississippi finalizing a deal on a business that he bought. So, we are hoping that he is now willing to take a lower offer. I am not getting my hopes up as he turned downed a offer that was below what he wanted before he is pretty set. He has till the 19th at 5pm to let us know.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Val sorry to hear of your episode. Hope things are going better now and you are able to get caught up.
Gail it sounds like bit by bit you are making progress. As Val said, it truly boggles the mind-Vic has to be a master at getting all of this stuff in your house.
Sandy I am sorry things didn't work out on the house, but one of these days the right one will come along. Even here in our little community units are selling this summer-3 have sold in the past several weeks and normally nothing sells in the summertime down here! I guess things are turning around.
DH has had a good day and sight is still improving. He goes to see the eye dr tomorrow for him to check things out. I imagine he will get a script to get new glasses.
I got out to walk early and then did some weeding in the park-one of the guys is to put down mulch tomorrow so I wanted it clean before he did that! Then I had to go get grout sealer and a grab bar for the shower. Sure hoping I finally have everything we need now! I am anxious to get it done so we can get the use of that bathroom back.
Have a great day.

Gail, I know that I told you once that I have a tendency to be a bit of a hoarder myself, but I can't even begin to imagine the true scope of what you are dealing with. With all the stuff you've already gotten rid of, to have enough left that you think it will take another year to go through all of it just kind of boggles the mind. I'm not going to criticize Vic because I have no idea what made him the way he was. What I am going to do is tell you that I think you're incredible for dealing with all you've had to deal with since Vic's death and still being mostly sane.

I'm very happy that this week is past its halfway point. We've been so crazy busy at work that I haven't been able to finish my normal weekly stuff or do most of the extra stuff I really need to get done this week. Hopefully I'll be able to get to some of it tomorrow because I'll be in my second department, which isn't generally as busy and in which I'll be working with a trainee who's already mostly trained. I thought I was having an MS relapse earlier in the week because all of a sudden I could barely walk without holding onto a wall or something, but that seems to have resolved pretty quickly and I'm almost back to normal already. (If one can call my usual state of being "normal." emoticon )

Everyone hang on and have a great rest of the week.

There was much rejoicing!

Good evening

Well, the ladies from the hospice thrift shop left a little while ago. We worked for about 3 hours and they left with a carload of things including vintage collectible, vintage clothing about 100 new coffee table books, electronic kitchen items and other miscellaneous things. The total donations came to over $2500, in large part due to the coffee table books that the thrift shop sells for $25-$30 each. Tomorrow my son-in-law will come to help me, and on Friday, Travis will come to collect things for the next auction. I can see the progress little by little. At this rate I just might have the work done in another year.

It's very hot today, in the 90s. Thank God for AC.

Take care, stay cool, and be sure not to get dehydrated.

Gail

Pat: I'm delighted to learn that Bill is coming along.

Sandy: Keep the faith; the right home will come along.

We got out 7 yr old GS (Saturday) yesterday & will keep him until Friday. Took him to Targets to shop. Last Thursday he broke his left arm. His school starts the 15 of Aug so he'll still be in his cast. Took a carload of stuff so my GD can put it in her cheeerleading rummage sale. While I was at it I also went through a large dresser & gave away 2 big trash loads of stuff. It seems like all the things I'm getting rid of is behind closed doors but still feels great to have it gone. When I was working it seemed like someone was having some sort of party every month. Didn't relizise just how much stuff I'd gotten over the years.

It's nearly a 100 & so humid. Hope everyone has a good & safe day!

Pat - I am so glad that everything went well with Bill's eye surgery. I hope the shower gets done just as fast.

Well, we didn't get the house and it is for the better as they started to ask for thing right off. We found out that they couldn't move out until the end of September, well, they could but, they'd prefer not to. So, one buyer offed them to stay in the place for free UNTIL Oct. 4th! So, they came back to me and asked if I would do the same ( as the Sellers were going to put down 2,500 for rent to let stay till Sept. 1st). I told them I would split it but, I would need to be in by Sept. 25th. So, they went with the high bid as I wouldn't let them stay for free and stay there until Oct. 4th when their house will be ready. So, go figure. They said they needed the cash right away and wanted to close in less than 30 days. Now they are closing, maybe, in 30 days.

I am going to take a little break for a few days and see what happens. We are going to look at one more tomorrow. Then I am going to get ready for my BIL to come in. The house is a mess since I started packing. I am going to at least get it into some organization so it doesn't look so messy.

Having really warm weather here it was 90 today. emoticon emoticon

Surgery is done and so far, so good. Tonight he is seeing things he hasn't been able to make out in a very long time. He was even able to read the clock across the room this evening. I have to put in eye drops - 3 of them - 4 times a day. Thank God they gave me a schedule to mark it down so I know what I have done.
Work started on our shower project today also so it has been a crazy day for certain. John has it all torn out and replaced the bad floor and wall and now the new pan is in and I love the gray that I picked out. Now I am anxious to get the tile up!

Nite all it has been a long day.

Tomorrow is the big day. We are both really nervous but have to have faith that things will come out good this time.
I went and got the tile for our bathroom project today. John will be working on the bathroom while we are at the outpatient surgery center. I expect to come home to a totally bare shower!
Thanks for all the prayers. We certainly need them.

Gail, my body never adjusts as much or more of the liquid that goes in comes out, I am a frequent visitor to the bathroom. My mom was also, maybe its hereditary.
That’s to bad pat about the possibility that the radiation may have caused the bleeding problems, I will keep you both in my prayers. My MIL just had some kind of operation on her eye where she is supposed to try to keep her head down for a month. Something to do with the pressure on the eye I think. She was going blind in that eye also.
You were busy cooking, wow.
I have a sleep study tonight, I am not really looking forward to that, I had one years ago and I did not get much sleep.
Val I had a colonoscopy and it was not painful or bad at all, of course Ai opted to be put to sleep.

Sandy I hope you find the house of your dreams soon.

OK guys, here we go again. We are putting another offer on another home. It's another one of those must have offer in by a certain time. Except this time the Agent called my Agent early this morning and left her a message asking if I was still going to put in a bid. So, my Agent called and talked to her. In the beginning she said they really didn't have any offers. Then she said that they are expecting an offer at 4:45pm. We think there really isn't one but, we will see. The seller was hoping that the would get $ 460,000.00 for the home. But, they priced it too high at $ 419,000. So, I am going in at the listing price but, I still am having a inspection. It all hangs on the inspection. I do know there is a crack in the firebox of the fire place as they stated that on the discloser.

Just taking care of business today and hanging around the house. We have the portable air conditioner going as we are having another heat wave here. It is 85 today.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Hi:

It's just after 3am and I'm up. No worries, it's just that I went to bed before 8pm last night.

Well, I'm a good girl. I got my water in yesterday and did well with the food. Also, I exercised and did heat therapy with stretches yesterday. What a difference! No pain and I was able to run up the steps to the second floor. Got to keep this up.

G.

Pat: I certainly will keep Bill in my prayers for his operation on Tuesday. I'm so sorry for what he is going through with all his health problems and it must be really tough on you. Take care of yourself dear friend.

Sandy: Wow! I'm shocked that agent never showed up. They work on commission so if they don't sell they don't eat. Maybe the agent had an emergency.

Enjoy each day.

Pat - He is on something that is for sure. To what it is only he knows or maybe not. At least I have blocked him from e-mailing me again.

We tried to go see one house today but, the Agent never showed up. There were at least 8 cars of people who were waiting to get in to see the house. I called my Agent, who wasn't able to show it today to us. She was going to call and see what happen.

Hope that everyone had a nice weekend. It was warmer than expected here and is only suppose to get hotter later in the week. Everyone stay cool. emoticon
