I had planned to walk early today but it was a light rain when I got up at 6 so decided to doze a little more and when we got up at 7, it had stopped. DH headed to coffee and donuts about 7:20 and I headed out to walk. I walked for about 90 min as I added some more steps this morning to try to get closer to 10,000 earlier in the day. I knew a little after 9 I was picking up the company (community) truck to go get flowers for the park. I got them to agree to let me use it instead of my car. Didn't want the dirt in in and it won't haul as much as our van. Besides I might as well use their gas! I have used my vehicle all these years - time to use park truck from now on! New board told me it was ok-old board would not let me drive it!!!
Vicky & I got 8 flats of flowers, 2 ferns, and 8 singles and also a bag of potting and one of garden soil so we have our work cut out for us. Not sure if this will be all we need, but decided we would get these planted first and if we need more-make another run!! Hopefully I can get started late tomorrow or Thur morning.
I had to rush as we didn't get back and unloaded till noon and DH had to be at the cardiologist office at 12:45. That was a quick shower and we were off by 12:30. Didn't have time for lunch so after we got done there, we picked up Vicky & Sonny and went to the next small town and ate out on the patio looking at the lake. Nice and relaxing.. DH did fine at the dr-all sounded good and he will see him again in 6 mo.
Vicky & I went to the pool for about 90 min when we got back-the guys fiddled with water pipes at our house. DH says he will go with me tomorrow afternoon. We will ssee.
Getting late and my batter is getting low-watching the Cards play so typing in the bedroom laying in bed!!
Pat

Gail, thank you for the update on Kurt. If you hear from him again, please tell him that we're thinking of him and hope that things work out for him and he's able to join us again soon.

emoticon on selling more of Vic's stuff. I know it's a huge weight of your chest each time a bundle of stuff sells and I know that sooner or later you WILL get it ALL taken care of.

As for me, working for a living is a really lousy way to have to spend 1/3 of your life, but slowly but surely it's getting stuff paid off for me. (Hooray!!) I got my second credit card paid off this month, only 2 more and a car loan to go. I'll get there while I'm still young enough to enjoy it. emoticon Working very hard at keeping up the new habits so that I don't get into another huge credit mess again once this one is all paid off...

I'm not sure exactly what's up, maybe it's just extra dry here right now. You'd think my body would be used to that after all the time I've spent living here in the desert, but apparently you'd think wrong. My blood pressure has been okay, but I've had really bad nosebleeds the last couple of days. When I was a kid I used to get them because of my allergies, wonder if that's what's up right now? Whatever it is, I really don't like it very much. I'd much rather leave my blood in my body where it belongs.

Anyway, I hope that the rest of you are having a great week so far. Try not to let things you can't control get you down. This too shall pass. See you later.

There was much rejoicing!

Gail so glad you had a wonderful time with your friend and even better got to go to your favorite restaurant. It is great that some of your stuff is selling-yeah-more $$$ for another getaway???? I am glad you found someone to put things on the internet for you.
I worked in my yard after my walk today. It was time to cut the poinsettias back. Then I started on edging-that is a job I hate but it needs to be done every so often so.....today I got started on it.
Vicky & I put out the yard ornaments we made last week and while I was carrying one to the golf cart, the glue came unglued and a vase and plate fell to the carport and of course, the plate shattered. I swept up most of it, but still need to drag out the shop vac and go over the floor as I walk out there barefoot.
Hope all of you have had a wonderful Monday.
Pat

Good Evening:

Well, today I sold some art books and also received some money from books that were sold a few weeks ago on an internet site. Tomorrow the fellow who is doing internet and Craigslist sales for me will stop buy to pick up more stuff for this next internet auction. I'm taking it easy, reading mysteries and really enjoying life.

It's been very nice here but I've stayed in because I know at this time the weather will play havoc with my allergies. It's all right. Seeing sunny skies perks me up.

I heard from Kurt and he landed a short term teaching job that he hopes will turn into a permanent position. That guy needs a break. I hope things turn out well for him.

Wishing you all a happy evening,

Gail

Going to sit down and finish my budget for May and then get my Dave Ramsey Envelopes ready to begin using for next month. I'm a little anxious about starting but definitely determined to make it happen!

Good evening everyone-another crazy Pat day!!! I didn't walk till about 7:15 this morning-got a good night of sleep. However, walking later meant the sun really hit me in the eyes when I faced the east!! DH was still asleep when I got home so I got my breakfast and read the Sunday paper before heading up to deadhead the roses and pull a few weeds. I cannot believe how much work they make. I hauled off 3 five gallon buckets of cuttings and weeds.
Vicky called just as I got home and asked me to go to Bealls with her and Faye as they had 25% off everything today and I had another $10 off coupon so I got myself a new pair of Crocs! Yeah for found $$$$.
This afternoon we went with Roger & Ruthie for a late lunch and then to Sam's Club as it had an open shopping day (1 day pass). I had gotten a bathing suit I really liked there last year but nothing there this year-only 2 piece suits! Came out with raspberries, strawberries and oranges instead.
DH sat while we shopped-he is a bit sore from the walking yesterday so didn't want to push things too much by doing a lot of walking today. We didn't make it to the pool today but hoping we can make it tomorrow.
Have a great week.
Pat

Actually, I want it to be a surprise for my parents. So I think what I'm going to do is get the MC and give the card number to whatever restaurant I find that's nice enough for a 50th anniversary dinner. Then whatever isn't used up on their dinner I'll just spend on groceries or gas or whatever. It's good to know that those cards aren't good forever so I don't end up wasting any money that's left over on the card.

There was much rejoicing!

Val: Go ahead and buy the Visa or MC, BUT, be sure to tell your parents to use it ASAP. I got one for Christmas one year ($100) and thought they were good indefinitely. THEY ARE NOT. By the time I tried to use the card there was no money on it.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

CMESLIM, that's a great idea. Thank you very much. I might have thought of that myself...eventually...like after it was all over... emoticon I like your idea much more than the idea of calling and giving my credit card number to some stranger almost 1000 miles away. That sounds like a much safer way to accomplish the same thing. I'm not going to try to go frugal on this at all, but then you can buy those cards for just about any amount you want to. I think I'm going to be able to make this work. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

I think I feel perpetually tired but it is because I have been doing everything. Hoping now that DH can do a bit more he can start gradually to help me some-however as long as he has to use the cane, he is still going to be limited in what he can do. But there is light at the end of this tunnel!!!!
Took DH to a big rig truck show this afternoon and he enjoyed that but probably more walking than he should have done-we did about an hour there. He came home and slept for over 2 hours and has kept the leg up pretty much all afternoon after getting home.
I haven't accomplished a lot today-walked and then fixed breakfast for everyone-my brother and wife spent the night with us as they came down for bike weekend in town. I did get the laundry from their visit done and put away and all the dishes washed and put up this afternoon. I enjoyed their visit but was glad to see them head home about 11 too.

VALI_T have you thought about purchasing a Visa/American Express gift card from your bank or from the store that you can use to make the payment on? That way you can be safe with your credit card and still arrange a nice dinner for your parents.

Sandy emoticon m emoticon I'll bet you're really happy to have this weight off your shoulders. I hope that things continue to go off without a hitch.

My parents are going to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in June and I've been trying to figure out something really nice to do for a gift. I don't generally give them anniversary gifts because years ago they told me that I didn't need to because their anniversary was really just between them. But I figure 50 years is a big deal and I want to do something. I was thinking about arranging to buy them dinner at the Arizona Inn, where I know they sometimes spend their anniversary...but then my mom told me that they're going to go to Mount Rushmore for their 50th anniversary. Well that kind of threw a kink in my plans. emoticon

So I pumped Mom for information while trying not to let her know why I was doing it. She told me what hotel they were staying at and when I looked it up online it looked like the restaurant at the hotel is pretty basic. (Apparently my frugal mom picked a frugal hotel.) I'm going to call the hotel and ask if there is a nice restaurant in the area and if there is then I'll call the restaurant and arrange to pay for them to have a nice dinner on their anniversary. Then I'll get a card for my parents telling them what I've done and mail it to the hotel so that they can give it to them when they check in.

So the reason I'm telling you guys all of this is that I want to see if anyone pokes any holes in my idea. Does anyone see any problems with my plan that I have not thought of? The only big problem I see is that I'll have to give my credit card number to the restaurant ahead of time, and I'm not entirely comfortable with that. But I have a feeling there are ways that I could work with my credit card company to minimize the risks of doing this. Please let me know if you have any thoughts about this. I hope that you're all having a fabulous weekend. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Good Morning:

It was lovely yesterday and it's beautiful again today. The sun is out and it's 47 F with a high expected in the high 60s. Anyone have special plans this weekend? My friend is taking me for a birthday dinner tomorrow and I'm looking forward to the celebration and seeing her.

Gail

Sandy: I am SO happy for you. What a blessing that all the stress is behind you.

Pat: You sure had a busy day. Where did you find the energy to make dinner? Glad to hear about the good news for Bill. I'll bet he's a happy camper!

Val: So sorry to learn that you are so exhausted. It's good that you don't have to fight the traffic in any circumstances. In my last job I started at 7am. and finished at 3:30pm. It was great because I was 3 miles from home and at those hours I missed the am and pm rush.

Enjoy each day.

Evening all. Another full one and I am totally wiped out tonight. I walked at 6:30 this morning then home to try to do a few things before we headed to the dr. I got a couple of bills paid-I do some thing by phone when I can but it all takes time! I also had to do DH's pills for the week so got that done before heading out. (Yes, the moon was awesome this morning)
Of course today the dr was running late but we got good news. No more walker-he is cleared to put full weight on the leg! He is to use his cane for the next 3-4 weeks and get exercise in the swimming pool but no rehab.
After we left there, we headed to Wal-Mart for a few things and then we went across the street to Aldis for a few more items. Our last stop was at Office Depot and I now have a new printer-just have to get it installed.
We got home about noon so guess we didn't do too badly. I didn't think Tommy & Annette would arrive till late afternoon and I was right-they got here about 4. They came down for bike week-held the last weekend of April for the lastt 17 years. They were glad to get inside and into the a/c as it was a warm day.
This afternoon I tried to get a few ore things done-ordered DH's refills on some of his meds. That turned into a fun session. I attempted to do it online but it didn't like something so after trying several things, I had to call them and then I went to tech service and they wouldn't help me since DH wasn't here to give them permission to talk to me! Duh, he doesn't know the 1st thing about a computer. Guess I will see how it goes tomorrow-maybe it will let me on then, if not, will call next week to see if we can get things cleared up.
I cleaned out a shelf in my built in hutch and put the divided storage dishes I used for dad. While doing this, I took out an old purse and cleaned it out and guess what I discovered-some $$$ I had tucked in it. Glad I looked thru it before pitching it!!!
I made cashew chicken with broccoli for dinner for all of us and we had a salad with a new Italian dressing to go with it. After dinner, we took them for a ride in our little Prius. They are thinking they might like to get something more economical for Annette to drive and was quite impressed with it.
We visited the rest of the evening and now we are all ready for bed so I best get some rest so I can start things all over again tomorrow.

Pat

I was so doggone tired this morning that I did not even look up to see the moon on my way to work at 4:45, but I did see it yesterday morning when it was aaaaaaalmost full. There are a few nice things about driving to work at that time of the morning and getting a good look at the moon while I'm driving to work (if I'm awake enough to be that alert, which I was not today) is one of them. The other (main) one is that there's virtually no other traffic on the road, which is especially nice when I'm as tired as I was this morning. (At one point in my 10 minute drive I thought to myself that I really was not safe to be driving in my exhausted state but since there was almost nobody else on the road at that time I didn't cause a terrible accident. Gotta get some decent sleep this weekend because this morning was NOT cool.)

Sandy, I'm so, so happy to hear that the soil inspector gave you a good report. I know that you're going to be really happy to get this sale over and done with.

I'm sure I've got a bunch of other things to say but I'm so doggone tired that I'm going to take a quick look at my email and then go to bed at my work night time even though tomorrow is not a work day. I hope that you all had a really great week and that you've got something fun lined up for your weekend.

missed the full moon, I will look tonight also.
Great news on your house coming along with the sale, our 4 plex is supposed to close on Tuesday. We were hoping for a bit more but this is a all cash offer so we will just take it and be done with it.
Pat you sound as busy as ever, Gail are the books spiritual based or what exactly?
Have a good evening everyone.

Gail - I am glad that you had a good day.

Pat - I am glad that Bill's test came out fine and he is getting better. Don't forget to take care of you too.

Val - I am so pleased that your doctors apt went well and things are going good.

Well, the VA inspector came through today and all went well with that. The Soil engineer was there today too. That was the best news - the house has not moved since they did all the work back in 1985. The husband is flying in from South Carolina tonight and they are going over all the paper work again and signing them tomorrow. So, hopefully they don't come back with something else for me to do. If, they don't then we are done. So keep those fingers cross.

We have had a great time seeing family and visiting with our son. It all has been great but, it will be nice to get home. The weather has been good this time. Oh, Nan yes everything here is blooming and my allergies are going crazy. The one reason I am looking forward to getting home.

I home everyone is having a good week. Take care!

Good Evening:

Yesterday was a very good day. If you want to know details read my blog. Today I ran some errands and then returned home to finish my Charles Todd book, WINGS OF FIRE. It was very well written and gives deep insight into the human mind and spirit. Have any of you read any of his books? I'm about to start Todd's third publication, SEARCH THE DARK.

How is everyone doing today? Hope you are all feeling well and have had a few laughs.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Another full day down south-Wed is our breakfast morning and we had 8 show up today. I had planned to walk before we left, but just could not drag myself out to walk at 6 am! So I had to walk when we got home in the heat!!!!!!
I am still shopping for a printer so stopped at a couple of places on our way home and then the grocery store to get the sale items-the sales run Thur thru Wed. Abbie got a bath this afternoon and I baked a dutch apple cake to take to bonfire (hot dog roast) this evening. I also did a bit of housecleaning, got the salt into the water softener and then spread my last 2 bags of mulch (now I need to get a couple more as I didn't have enough to do it all). I also had to water all my potted plants - hot and dry again! Had to give in this evening and turn the a/c back on. My days always seem like I have more to do than I have time to do it!
DH is doing good but tonite his feet were swollen-a new wrinkle. I am hoping it is because he was on them more than usual the past couple of days and has been craving pickles-too much salt! I keep teasing him that he is pregnant!!! No more pickles for him for now. Swelling has gone down since he put them up but they have not done that before-something else to worry about.
Sandy I am so glad that it sounds like things are moving along and that the buyers are very motivated so doubtful they will back out. I know you weren't wanting to spend a lot more but sometimes it is the answer and allows us to move forward with our lives.
Val glad you had a good report at the dr. Enjoy hearing some good news.

Sandy, it sure does sound like these people are unlikely to back out on buying your house. $10,000 for a soil engineer is one heck of an investment for anyone to back out of. I have to stay in a job I'm really coming to dislike because I don't want to lose $1,000 by breaking my lease to move out of state before next July, so I can only imagine how motivated $10,000 would make me to stick with my contract.

Pat, emoticon for DH's PSA! That's really great news. I hope his pneumonia clears up soon and that he's able to stay healthy for a while. How is he feeling these days?

I had a really good appointment with my neurologist this afternoon. I have very poor balance, but that's nothing new. I fatigue easily but again, nothing new. My MS has been stable for at least 4 or 5 years, possibly as many as 10. (I'm too old. I can't remember when I stopped using one treatment and went back to the one that works.) Couldn't ask for more on that front. emoticon

I hope you're all having a great week.

There was much rejoicing!

OK, here is the latest on the house - I received the report for the inspector and the termites. I will have to tent, which is fine. The inspector was too picky and that wasn't a problem - but we passed. We received the itemizes list of thing that they wanted us to fix. We went over that today with my Real Estate agent. A few thing we will do as it is a VA loan but others we will not. It is all working out and they really want the house. They are investing a lot of money into it by getting a soil engineer out to check to be sure that the land has nor moved since 1985 when the house was fix. That is about $ 10,000.00. So, I don't think they will back out . I think it is a smart idea for them to get a update soil information. So, when they go to sale they can show the next owners. I am very happy with very thing. I am signing the escrow papers tomorrow. The soil engineer comes out Thursday and then that is the end. My Agent seems to think that everything will be fine. He is getting me the best price and is still working his magic.

The trip has been great. Our son has been so happy so have us. I told him about the house. He was sad but, was glad as long as it was what I wanted. He is a great son.

Gail - I am glad that you are seeing a grief counselor. They do help. I had lost my mom and my boyfriend within weeks of each other. And then lost a patient that I was very close to. All at the same time. It was very hard. The counseling really helped. I was glad as I meet my Husband a year later.

Pat - I hope Bill is doing better. I think about all you are going through each day.

I want each of you to know how much I appreciate you. I may not say it often enough but, I am proud of all you for all that you do. Each of you are special and amazing people. With what is happening in the world today I feel I need to tell each of you how very special you are. You doing thing without thinking and you go out of your way to help others. You are truly special. And I am very proud of all you. The Challenge Pass it Forward or Kindness you all have don't an amazing job. Keep up the great work. Here's to Boston! Let's never give up as no one will keeps us down.

Have a great week!

Gail glad to hear you are going to grief counseling and that it is helping. I know it did wonders for me when I went. I really think it helps to work thru things. Sounds like you continue to move forward-slow but sure!
Tammy I thought it was beautiful around Coeur d'Alene (did I spell that right?????). We camped there for several days several years ago. We drove completely around the lake-what a beautiful drive and saw an eagle - got some great pics.
Sandy glad you arrived safely and sounds like you are really going to be busy while there. Will the closing happen while you are there??
I have had a busy day-DH went to coffee and donuts and I walked at 7 am and then home for a bite and my volunteers & I worked on weeding another bed-with 3 of us it didn't take too long. Then we came to my house and we constructed 5 more garden decorations-I will try to post pics soon. We also painted 2 trike planters and the base of a glazing ball holder.
DH has already gotten his PSA results-still 0.0!!!!! emoticon
Had a visit with his primary physician this afternoon-he listened to his lungs and all sounds good and unless he has a problem, he doesn't have to see him till Aug! Slowly but surely we are making progress and minimizing dr visits.
When we got home we had about an hour and then went to a farewell dinner for some of our snowbird friends. Didn't get back from that till after 7 and about dark we were invited down for birthday cake for our friend Sonny so it has been a really full day but a lot was accomplished.

Gail there are parts of Idaho that are very beautiful, but I think a lot of areas have beauty in different ways.
That's good you are going to grief counseling.
The Geek squad in your area must be better than the one where I used to live, I bought a computer from best buy, but I did not buy the extended warranty, well it broke after only a short time but they would not look at it because I did not have the warranty, I had to send it back to the manufacturer and get a new one. So I was not impressed at all by there service, and we have spent thousands of dollars at that store.
Oh well the same people can't be everywhere at once. Its the same with Les schawb tires, in the town I used to live in, they had the best service, so I just assumed they all did, but here not so much.
Sorry I am just rambling on. Have a good night.

Good Afternoon:

This morning I went for grief counseling and I think it was a good session. I scheduled another which will be in two weeks. Getting through stuff isn't easy but I'm moving forward.

Today I brought my computer to the Geek Squad (Best Buy) to find out what I need to do for backup. I got it there when they cleaned up my computer after the computer was compromised, but I couldn't figure out what to do with it. They are very nice and didn't charge me for the visit. I now know how to use it and also learned how to change my password. LOL Woo Hoo!

It's a gray day here...OK, so what else is new?...but I'm going to make the most out of it. Tomorrow the volunteers from hospice will be coming so I can get rid of more stuff.

Sending you all lots of positive energy.

Gail

Tammy: Idaho is supposed to be breathtaking. Lucky you.

Enjoy each day.

I find it easier to make healthy choices if its on hand and already prepared. and it gets easier the more often you do it to make healthier choices, in my opinion.

Wow that is warm, 97 at this time of year, stay in the air conditioning if possible.

Good Afternoon:

Well, I just arranged for the hospice volunteers to come by on Wednesday to help me load up another van of donations. Yesterday I found a brand new box containing men's roller blades and another new box containing a pair of men's Adidas shoes. They should get a lot for those. I'm also giving them two new director's chairs and other assorted items. Will drop the stuff off this afternoon.

I went to the grocery Saturday and bought fresh fruit. This morning I had coffee and fruit (blackberries, 1/2 banana, and an orange. I also made a large salad for lunch. If the food is pre-made I'm more apt to eat sensibly. Do you find that to be true?

Hope to get to the gym today.

Best to all,

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Gail, so sorry about your troubles, that would weigh heavy on my mind also. Don't be so hard on yourself about your body image, take baby steps, I have to remind myself that the weight did not come on over night so it surely won't come off that quick either, and realize you do have a lot on your plate of life right now. emoticon

I don't have a big yard, but we just bought the house in Oct. and the yard had been neglected so it almost like starting over, but we are trying to salvage the grass, and the fence was in bad need of a power wash and stain, and I want to plant a garden but the area I am going to use is a weed patch, so I am slowly working at that, I have some area cleared, and we finally got the fence stained, the weather was not being helpful the last few weeks. so today I am going to start planting, it is supposed to be warm enough and no rain. I am excited, this will be the first time in about 12 years I have been able to really garden, so we shall see if I still have the brown thumb my hubby says I have. emoticon
I hope you all have a good Sunday

Good Morning:

Yesterday was a cold but sunny day; today we're back to cold and nasty. No matter, it'll be a great day. My granddaughter, her boyfriend and my sil are coming at noon to help out with a few things and afterward the whole family is taking me for a birthday lunch. I can hardly wait.

I am really disgusted with myself about my body and weight, but just don't have whatever it takes to get a grip. I haven't even had the were-with-all to do cardio exercise or PT. Not good. I've got some stuff on my mind over which I have no control and they weigh heavily on my. First is Celeste, my dear friend who is in stage 4 with lung cancer. She started chemo because the other treatments didn't work. I guess the surgery is out.

Next, that accident that I had with the cyclist last fall is not yet resolved. He's suing me and AllState. An AllState attorney is handling it but it still is worrisome. This is a very pro-cyclist city, and right or wrong the cyclist could be given the benefit of the doubt.

Thirdly, I've got another attorney handling the MC charges on Vic's card before he died. I agreed to pay it but wanted a copy of the last bill paid by autopay and the charges following that bill. I had asked for it way back in August shortly after he died but never got it. I called several times after being hounded to pay it and was told by MC to disregard the notices until I got the statements. They never came and I forgot about it. Long story short, a collection agency is after the $$. I still want to see those statements and after I pay whatever is rightfully due, I want to be done with it without any follow-ups. Ah, life... lots of little stones along the way.

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend.

Gail

Pat: Glad you are getting out to walk. Good for you!

Val: I hope your computer worries are behind you. It can be so frustrating.

Sandy: Hope the soil engineer's report is satisfactory and you can move on. It's a real pain when things drag on and on.

Tammy: What kind of stuff have you been doing? Do you have a big yard to care for/ Do you garden?

Enjoy each day.

Thank You everyone. Just got news tonight that they have hired a Soil engineer to come out and check the house out. As it did have a crack slab but, was fixed back in 1985 in the right way. We haven't had any problem since. So, hopefully it all comes out good.

We made it to Red Bluff, California AND BOY! is it HOT! It was 88 degrees when we arrived at 7pm and it is now 10:30pm and it's still 70 degrees. Not use to this kind of weather.

Pat - anytime you and Bill come up this way let me know. The two of you have a place to stay. We would love to have you. Summers here are very nice.

Motelmom - Sorry, about the first deal but, hope the second one goes though. Realtors drive me crazy.

Val - Sorry to hear about your computer.

Gail - I hope the weather warms up soon for you. I'll send some of this California sun your way.

Nana - Thank you for the send off.

Take care all will try to check in tomorrow. Have a great week.

Sandy that is great news. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that everything continues going well and closing goes on without a hitch. Have a nice time in CA. Then back to happy house hunting for you! We liked the Olympia area when we were in Washington and at one point thought about relocating there but then had another thought-we do not like cold weather!!! However, love visiting there in the summer and I love their Sat market. I got the best red raspberries I have ever eaten there.
Motelmom sorry your 1st deal fell thru but will pray that your counteroffer is accepted. You are so right-real estate is no fun and I am sure it is even less fun these days with all the new rules on lending.
Val sounds like you had an exciting time with the computers! I am dealing with printer problems and now it won't even copy so guess I will check the ads tomorrow and see what I can find reasonable and just bite the bullet and buy a new one. It actually isn't the printer that is so bad, it is the ink!!! What is really aggravating is I just spent about $40 on ink for it and I doubt it will work in a new one!
We have had rain most of the day but I did manage to get in my walk this morning between showers. I had planned to work in my flower bed as it was cooler but the rain kept me inside so I cleaned in the house instead.
Hope all of you are having a good weekend.
Pat

Sandy great news on the house I hope all goes well, Our offer on our 4 plex fell through, they couldn’t get a loan. But we got another offer from the guy who built them, we countered and we are waiting to see if it is accepted. Isn’t real estate so much fun?
Pat sorry to hear about your husband.
Hope the rest of you are doing good also, and rested up after vacations and broken computers and stuff, have a good evening.
I am tired tonight, I did a lot today though so it’s a good tired.

My relatively new computer died on me yesterday and I did something very not frugal...I bought another one instead of trying to get the first one fixed. I got the first one from amazon.com and didn't have a service contract of any kind for it, and also I was just fed up with the fact that it was my 3rd HP to take a dump on me. (Don't ever buy an HP if you value your sanity. They have a good reputation, but they are NOT good computers.)

So anyway, I'm up and running again with my new Dell. This one has a service contract that actually covers 2 computers so I think I'll see if I can get the one that's 2 computers ago fixed. It has a lot of data that I never bothered backing up. (Live and learn...) Now that I've got the Dell set up I can just enjoy the rest of my day. Not sure what I'm going to do, but almost anything will be more enjoyable than setting up a new computer.

I'm glad that they found that second guy who planted the bombs at the Boston Marathon. My heart is still hurting over what this jackass and his brother did so I hope that they put him on trial and then put him in jail for the rest of his life. Or maybe in Gitmo. I don't necessarily hope that he gets put to death but I hope that they lock him away somewhere that he can never get out to walk the streets and threaten people again. People have the right to practice any religion they want to, and I would never try to take that right away from anyone. But I've got a problem with a religion that tells its adherents that it's okay to kill anyone who doesn't practice their religion. This world is just getting really ugly these days.

I hope that you're all having a good weekend that doesn't involve computer problems or people blowing up bombs in your neighborhoods. Get out and do something fun just to prove to the terrorists that we're not going to let them change our way of life. And hug all of the people you love because you might not get another chance to do it.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Morning:

Yesterday was cold and nasty so I stayed in. I spent the day putting things away, getting caught up with the mail, following the TV coverage of the hunt for the terrorist in Boston, and taking care of practical matters such as my renewals for insurance and lawn/yard maintenance. Also, I was on the phone a lot with calls from friends and family wishing me a happy birthday. I still wasn't feeling up to par so I just took it easy the rest of the time. I've been having acid reflux almost every day for the past couple of weeks and I had another tummy tightness (belly ache?). Thankfully, the Tums takes care of the acid reflux and the tummy is more a bit of discomfort, not pain. I love tomatoes and home made tomato soup and I think that's what gave me the heartburn.

Got some errands to do today and also need go through and clear up my files. I hate filing, just hate it, but it's got to get done.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Gail

Inspection went really good and they have pull the down payment on the house. So, everything so far is going good with the sell of the house. We are hoping that it continues. It has been crazy the last couple of days waiting to know how things where going to go.

My Heart goes out to Boston and those that were injured and killed in this horrible thing. I am just glad that they have found out who did it and taken care of them. Please say a prayer for them.

Pat - I am so sorry to hear about Bill. I hope he gets well soon.

Motelmom - We have been living in the State of Washington for 3 yrs. Which is where I am originally from. So, we will be looking for a home here as soon as we get back from California.

Well, all I hope you have a great weekend and week. We leave at 7AM tomorrow for California. Love you all. Will try to post during the week.

Sandy

Ladie here is the update on DH-his dr sent him for a chest x-ray and also of his sinuses today. They were calling with the results even before we got home-HE HAS PNEUMONIA again! I suspected he did and sorry I was right. He is on a strong antibiotic for the next week. Dr thinks this will knock it but if it doesn't she will give him another round of antibiotics.
That took all of the morning and then I had to run back to Target to pick up his meds as they didn't have them ready on when I stopped on our way home from dr and testing..
I did get out and walk this morning but haven't accomplished much else today except watering my plants and going to the pool for about 30 min-a strong wind and dark cloud blew in so I came home - this is the lighning capital so I don't take chances.
I hope to have a bit more energy tomorrow and do some in my flower beds-I bought mulch so need to finish weeding and get it spread. It is supposed to be cooler so thinking it will be a good time to work out there. (after I walk!)
Therapist came while we were eating supper (leftover vegetable soup) and he is now discharged- . One less thing to have to worry about since we never knew when they were coming!!!
Welcome back Gail-glad to hear you had a relaxing trip but sorry to hear you were ill for par tof it.
Pat

Good Morning:

Just got back last night after being away for a week. I just went to "get away from it all" including the nasty weather. Though I was sick for a couple of days (tummy trouble) it was nothing serious and I'm all better now. I got to read a lot of books and take it easy.

Sandy: Sounds like you're making out well with the silver and coins. And now the house is sold. Woo Hoo! So glad things have taken a turn for the better.

Pat; Hope Bill is on the road to recovery and things get better. You must be exhausted.

Val: Your vacations sounds like a blast. So glad you had a good time. You really needed the R&R.

Sending hugs to all,

Gail

Enjoy each day.

I guess you are getting lots of rain in the midwest. It is flooding in areas around STL. Some of the roads our kids travel are flooded so don't know if they will have a problem getting to work or not. Near DH's son it flooded a town right down main street and one lady was killed-drowned when her car was swept away. I also saw that up in north STL near where we used to live they had flooding issues too. I know flooding is bad, but I guess it will help river traffic (I used to work for a barge line & river traffic was restricted due to low water). Pray no more tragic deaths.
DH was released today by his surgeon that repaired his rotator cuff back in Oct. Glad he didn't think all the use of the arm in rehab did any damage. He has to see the pulmonary dr tomorrow. He is still coughing and fever was gone this morning but tonite it is lowgrade again-99.7. I am still wondering if it is pneumonia and not the flu. Will get dr to check him or call his primary back-do not want to go to ER if we can avoid it.
I went to the pool this afternoon for about 90 min. Felt great-we hit 91 this afternoon so a great way to cool off. I hope all of you get some wrmer weather soon.
Pat

On Monday it was springtime here. Yesterday it was a little bit cold (or at least cool) when I got off work at 1:30 in the afternoon. When I was driving to work at 5:00 this morning it was 32 degrees outside! What in the world happened to spring?? I want it back.

There was much rejoicing!

85 degrees yesterday - rain all night & all day - flash floods right now - 35 degrees tonight. A fairly typical spring day in St. Louis.

We've missed the last storm but are having the rain & our utility room has a leak! Our house is L-shaped as sometime in the past someone built an extention onto the kitchen that has 3 bedrooms , a utility room & a pantry, But the two end rooms have a roof like the main house & the utility room/pantry has a flat room in between & that's where it's leaking. It had a leak when we first bought the house but the owners fixed it & then we put an entire new roof on it. So now it's leaking --again. It's a old hose & I guess thye didn't have any requirements back when they built it. Sure is a pain.

Spent the morning looking for the gnome cross stitch patterns I'd put in my documents but can't find them.. You'd think that they would be easy to find but they aren't. So I ordered some from Ebay.

Hope everyone has a good & safe day!

Sriver: great news on the house, so happy for you. emoticon Where are you moving to?
Pat: sorry to hear about DH, I hope he recovers quickly, you are a very strong lady to do all this, and still find some time for you, good job. emoticon

Penny: that is a long time without power, it is good you have a gas stove. Its amazing how much we take those little things like turning on a light and using the microwave and computer, hot water, we just turn them on and they work, most of the time. We had the power go out like that once, it was also in the spring and we had a wood burning stove to cook on, But we went to bed pretty much at dark because there was not much else to do.

imreite: I also got a food saver for x-mas, I used it a lot at first but I haven't lately, the bags are so expensive I found I am hesitant to use it except to freeze meet or something. Maybe I can find a less expensive bag that will work in it so I will use it more.
time to get ready for work. have a good day

Penny what a long time without electric. Hope you didn't lose any food. We are in the process of having our power lines buried in our community. It is an expensive thing but hopefully we won't have as many outages during hurricane season! Although the way things happened for you it seems that doesn't guarantee anything.
DH is doing better today-fever is lowgrade so praying it is gone by tomorrow.

Last Wed, at 7:20 pm, our electric went our & didn't come back on till 12:30 am Saturday. Lightening hit a pole & went into the underground lines & then the winds blew over several poles. Over 5000 was out of power. This is the longest we've ever been out. Now they're sayng that it's supposed to be in the low 80's today & in the 50's tomorrow. When they meet we're supposed to have a really bad storm again. I'm glad that Bill insisted on having a gas cook stove. We'd gotten a kerosene heater (for the cfaft room) so that come in handy as well as all the candles & this light deer hunters use. I got in a lot of reading.

We went to the doctor, on the 9th, and stopped by Home Depot on the way back. Got enough plants for the church porch & for us. Got the church plants put in place & our hanging plants but not the rest. I'm thinking by Friday we should be able to get the rest out where they go. We need to mow so bad but it's too wet. Bill said he'd proably have to weed it all.

Hope everyone has agood & safe day. Thanks for sll the b-day greetings!

Just when I think our life is going to get back to "normal", God looks down and laughs. DH woke up not feeling good. I had been out at 6 am for my walk and left him sleeping but we were supposed to head out at 8 with Vicky & Sonny-he is taking radiation where DHwent and we were going to show them how to go the back way to avoid traffic but it will have to wait for another day. I checked his temperature since he felt hot and it was 99.8. However when his therapist came just before 10, it was up to 102.8 and his BP was also sky high. She wanted him to either see his primary or go to the ER. Luckily I was able to get him in to see his dr and he diagnosed him with the flu-AGAIN! Sent us off to pick up tamiflu and some pills to help with the cough. He has slept all afternoon and evening but the fever has come down to nearly normal now and BP is good. I am hoping this doesn't end up with him back in the hospital.
I am tired and it is late so signing off for tonight.
Pat

Sandy that is wonderful news about the house having a contract. Fingers and toes crossed that it closes as scheduled!!

Thank you everyone for joining in on the Challenge. You all are amazing and great inspirations. This Challenge will continue as long as each of you wants it to.

Took some more gold and silver in and got another $1000.00. That was nice. But, the best news is the house is sold. A nice couple bought the house and they signed the papers last night and it is in Escrow now. Things can always happen I know but, so far so good. The husband is in the Military and has a VA loan and has been approved. They are doing the inspection tomorrow. So, I will know more after that. They want to move in May 15th so they want a 30 day closing. So, that makes it nice for me as now I am on the hunt for a house up here when we get back from California.

Hope everyone has a really great week!

What a day-getting too hot too soon. Said we got to 89 but it certainly felt hotter! I got sunburned while working in the gardens. Guess I will have to stay out of the sun for a few days. However, we got a lot accomplished-another bed cleaned-will have to replace a few plants though.
This evening we had a beach party down by the lake-beautiful evening, good music, fantastic sunset.

nan, I like the idea of doing acts of kindness as one of our goals, I think I will make that one of mine. It feels good to do that sometimes.
