Gail I hope you get better soon. Nothing worse than feeling miserable. I was sure happy that the Claritan took care of things for me this time. I really do pray that this is going to work with selling your stuff on e-bay and you can recoup some of the $$$.
I have had another great day. Our weather is almost back to where it should be for this time of year. I walked about 8:30 and let DH and Abbie snooze. I got them up when I got home and after breakfast we took her for a golf cart ride to potty park! She looks forward to going there a couple of times a day. They sat and enjoyed the sunshine and visiting with folks while I did some much needed yardwork. I quit when I got a big trashcan full of weeds I pulled and trimming of the shrubs. That took care of the west side of our house so next week I will start on the backside. I should have had this done but...hmmmm, guess I have been busy lately.
We had a luncheon this afternoon that we went to-sponsored by the boat club. Beautiful day down by the lake. We came back home about 2:30 and DH & Abbie napped and I decided to catch up some reading.
This evening I finished getting in my 10,000 steps and spent another hour watering things around here and doing pill boxes for the week. It is a never ending list of things I need to do and I whittle away at things.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter Sunday.
Pat

Hi Everyone:

Yesterday I took a 4 hour nap. My sinuses are still a problem but I am feeling better. If you caught my latest blog then you know that yesterday afternoon Celeste called to tell me that two of her doctors suggested she not go to CA for the surgery. She has been fighting a lung infection for several days now and they said she would likely get pneumonia if she went ahead with it. So, after frenetically searching for rooms and flights, I had to call back and cancel. Right now, the way I feel with this sinus trouble I'm glad she called the trip off.

I believe I found someone to sell my things on line for me. I gave him a bunch of different stuff and we'll see how he does. Among the items were vintage collectibles ( china and toys), music scores, books on music, vintage (WWII) suitcases, new model cars, and vintage electronics. If this works out I imagine I'll get things moving rather quickly, and I'll be able to clear out the living room sooner rather than later. Even with more stuff gone, as always, it looks like I've hardly made a dent.

Wishing you all a happy day,

Gail

Pat: You're like the Ever-ready bunny,,,,always on the move. Where do you get your energy? Bummer that you never know when the PT will come. That's unheard of.

Enjoy each day.

Quick note as it is late and need to help DH to bed. Had a great day. We went to Wal-Mart and Aldi's early as we never know when the physical therapist will come. DH wanted to ride along just to get out of the house. We were back home by 9:30 and the therapist arrived about 11. I was out for my walk and missed her. I also washed the car and gave Abbie a bath as it was so nice out. We went to dinner with friends early evening and was back home by 6. What a great day.

Oh I hate sinus headaches. I feel for you. Well that is new, everytime I misspell a word it is underlined in red.
Well I overdid it today i think by working on the fence, either that or trying to do crunches, my back is killing me tonight. Not sure which one caused the pain or a combo of the two.
I read a blog that talked about flabby skin after losing weight, and I thought uh oh I better start doing something about this stomach now.

I hope you all have a good evening and weekend. happy Easter to those who observe it. emoticon emoticon

Gail - Have you tired chicken noodle soup with a little curry powder. It will help open up the sinuses. Also warm moist compresses draped across your face for 10 mins. at a time helps too. I think that it is a wonderful thing that you are doing for your friend and I am sure she really appreciates too. I will keep her in my prayers and thoughts. You take care.
The only other thing I would suggest is a over the counter medicine called UMCKA is all natural and it was recommended by my Allergy doctor. He takes it 2 days before he leaves on a plane and takes it for another 2 day after. Then does the same when he comes home. It works really well. The only thing is you have start taking it as soon as you start to get sick or just before. But, check with your doctor so it doesn't interfere with any of your other medicine you are taking.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and a Happy Easter!

Good Evening:

I was in most of the day and only went out briefly for an errand. I'm miserable with sinusitis and am taking everything to clear it up. I've got to get well and stay well in the next couple of days. My friend, Celeste, the one with stage 4 lung cancer isn't doing well. There is an operation of sorts with which a doctor in CA has had success. I told Celeste I'd go out to CA and be with her for this procedure. It will be some time next week. God, what she is going through! My heart breaks for her. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and send her good energy.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Tammy how wonderful that you got an offer without even having it listed. I know when we sold our rental property and rvs that I was even happier than when we bought them!!!! Here is to an uneventful closing.
Sandy I hope that soon you will be able to sell your house. Nothing worse than wanting to sell and not even getting any offers.
I slept in this morning and then had to rush so I was ready for my friend to pick me up at 9:30 to head to the gym. I forget how much extra time it takes to help DH get things done somedays. I am so looking forward to him being able to do more on his own. I hate to be an "airplane wife" but it is faster and easier for me to do things for him than wait for him to do them. I keep saying, Just 4 more weeks!!!
After the gym it had warmed up enough that I finally got the fertilizer spread on our yard. I had a little left so I used it to spread on our neighbor's yard in hopes his weeds won't invade ours!
After a meeting at 2 (they were nearly an hour late and I was not happy with them) I got out and walked-I would have thought I had more than a little over 5,000 steps as much walking as I did doing the yard and at the gym but that is what my little fitbit registered so I walked long enough to get past 10,000 before heading home to finish up my 2 loads of laundry and got the bed remade and then fixed dinner.
Hope you have had a good day.
Pat

Gail: I had a sinuses headache, Sat, Sun, and Monday, it must be the grasses coming up and the wind. I hope you get feeling better.
Pat: You seem like the energizer bunny, you never seem to stop going, I have a lot of energy compared to some people but you make me look like I am standing still. Its no wonder you are tired.
Sriver: Yes I guess that makes sense, my stepsister lives in Cal. And she is a realtor, she said the market is starting to bounce back, but it is probably slower than some of the nearby states like you said, I hope you get it sold soon.
We have a 4 plex that has been costing us more than its making and the price had gone up a bit from what we paid for it, so I called the realtor about how much we could get if we sold it now, It wasn’t as much as I hoped for so I just forgot about it, I didn’t list it or anything just made a phone call. Then a week after the call, someone gave us an offer on it. I thought what the heck, its not even listed. So we decided to go ahead and get out from under it while we could make a small profit and made a counter offer for a little more and we are waiting for the closing. But I was amazed that we didn’t even have it listed and we got an offer on it.

Well everyone have a great day

Darla - Welcome back. we all have missed you! Glad to hear that you are doing going.

Motelmom - Idaho, Oregon, & Washington state all the homes are going quick and have bidding wars. In California they want everything perfect and priced to sell or they don't even bother. If the house next door sold for a $ 10.00 difference than what you have yours listed at they would even consider bidding on your home for $ 10.00 less on yours they just leave and move to the next house. It is really crazy in Calif.

Pat - What a busy day you have had. It may me tired.

Gail - I hope that you had nice relaxing day after the day you had. I am glad that you are feeling better too. You did the right thing by staying in bed and getting some rest.

Spent the day running errors. Hey! You all will be happy to know that the renter finally cashed the check I sent him but, never cashed the first check for $ 100. We think he may have been so mad at getting it that he tore it up. So, in reality he only made about $ 500 out of taking me to court as it cost him $ 500 to take me to court. So, I made out better.

Hope all you are having a great week.

Welcome back Darla. I have been wondering how you were doing. A weight loss is a loss so rejoice and revel in it. Here is to getting on down to onederland. Glad you will have more access to the computer with having your own here.
Gail sounds like you had a busy day. I have been having those too. I had thought this week was going to be less to do but it hasn't happened. I am still not getting out to work in the yard/gardens. It has been too cold. I did my walk this afternoon as it was in the 40's this morning and I really didn't have time.
Had our usual Wed breakfast, stopped at the grocery store on the way home and then had a 10 am finance meeting. I had to leave that early since I had a 11 am appt for our car. That was scheduled before this meeting was called so I could not skip it. We had tint film applied to our car windows to help with the heat down here. Two of them didn't adhere properly so they had to redo them and apply the windshield strip they forgot to apply. By the time I finally got home it was 12:30. DH was wanting some lunch and I got busy and made a semi-homemade turkey pot pie for our dinner which is baking as I type. It will feed us for 3 meals!
I finally got out to walk about 2:30 and made it home about 3:45. I did get warm enough I removed my coat so it has warmed up from morning.
I am hoping to get to bed early tonight - I just seem to be more tired than usual and not sure why. I realize I am under stress and doing pretty much everything around here and helping DH but it should not be making me soooo tired-at least that is my thinking!
Hope everyone is starting to warm up and thaw out. We supposedly have one more day of cold temps before we warm up and by Easter we are supposed to reach 82!
Pat

Got to the gym today, wrote out some birthday and Easter cards and returned the bathing suit and bra I bought earlier this week. What a day! I'm just going to curl up with a book and rest. My sinuses are wreaking havoc with me and I've perpetually got a Halls in my mouth.

Hope the rest of you are faring well.

Hugs for all,

Gail

Sriver: I think it depends on the area you live in, here there was a bidding war on houses that I was looking at, so I think it depends on the price range and the area. I hope you find someone to buy yours.
It looks like a possible sunny day today so I hope to get some outside work done.
well have a good day everyone

Didn't realize I had been absent since Sat. Been full days and only so much time to Spark! We had a Palm Sunday brunch at our clubhouse and invited our friends, Roger, Ruthie, Don & Lin to attend with us and later they came back to our house and Vicky & Sonny came and we played pegs and jokers. Not easy to get DH out of the Florida room but we managed! They didn't leave till almost 6 and by then I was ready to crash and read the Sunday paper.
Mon I took DH to see the surgeon and he says things look good and for the next month he is allowed to put 50% of his weight on his left leg. We had to wait for the therapist to come Mon in the late afternoon and he showed him how much weight he can put on it. He is not to walk a lot at this point-he is still to stay in the wheelchair for the most part but this does make it a lot easier to go into the bathroom with the walker-he was having to hop on the 1 foot and it will make getting into the shower a lot simpler too.
I have been walking daily even if it has been cold (at least for Florida!). Today was gym day so Margaret and I put in an hour there. She is new to it so I showed her several new things she can do.
Have a pretty full week going even without any more dr appts. Therapist comes M-W-F and we never know till the day what time. Drives me crazy-I would like a set schedule for the week but they don't operate that way and we get a different therapist most days which doesn't give any continuity to his care in my estimation. We did both like this last young man-he was very thorough and showed him exactly what he wanted him to do.
We have a freeze warning for tonite. Hard to believe this late in the year. Guess all of us are still waiting for spring!

Gail, take a look at onehanesplace.com That's where I buy my bras these days. They have all kinds of brands and I have definitely seen some front closure bras at the site. (I bought one once but it's not my favorite.) Good luck. :-) (My demon spawn computer won't let me use the Spark emoticons and it's making me crazy...)

There was much rejoicing!

Gail - Thank you. It seems that today people do not make offers anymore on homes. You have to have the houses price down to what they want. So, it is not like when we were growing up or our parents.

It sounds like everyone is busy. Copperpenny, glad to here that you are doing better.

Everyone have a great week.

Morning everyone,
I had a long weekend away from home for some work, and I ended up getting sick and it was cold so it wasn't all that pleasant, but I did end up losing some weight because I couldn't keep any food in and therefore did not add much to my belly.
Gail I usually look in the fall when they are closing out the swim suits and you can get one for alot less money, then I just save it for when i need it. I do the same with winter clothes, if I wait until around Feb. some stores will discount the winter items up to 90% off. Of course at that point you have to take whets left, but to me a sweatshirt is a sweatshirt, i don't really care what color it is to do yard work in.
I am attempting coffee this morning, not sure how that is going, my stomach is protesting a bit.
have a good day.

Good Morning:

It's been ages since I bought a bathing suit and I was shocked when I saw the prices. They were about $100 or more and they were definitely NOT flattering. I went to Target and found one that was the most flattering and best fit. Best of all it was just over $42 with tax. I still think it's a lot, but it's been ages since I bought something new. I was really at their mercy since I needed a suit that I could get into myself. My range of motion is limited, because of my arthritic shoulders. I've yet to find a front closing bra. Maybe I'll go look today.

Sandy: So sorry that you're having trouble selling your home. Hopefully it will go faster with the new, lower price.

Be happy and enjoy the day everyone.

Gail

Been busy doing a little spring cleaning these last few days. Figure I'll follow in Gail's foot steps and get rid of a few things. I did donate my Old Christmas tree this year. I also figured I'd get ahead of the game this time before we fine a house to get rid of a few more items and I can start packing things up to that I am not using.

House is still not sold yet. Lowered it down as there are over 203 forecloses in the area and about 5 - 7 just in my area alone. So, hopefully it will sell soon with this new price.

Going to my Aunt and Uncle's for Easter. Hope that everyone has a wonderful Easter week!

Good Morning:

I'll run some errands today if I can get my butt out of the house. I need a new bathing suit and some bras but I hate trying stuff on and going from store to store. Some women at the gym recommend Target. Since I go in the hot tub so often for heat therapy my old suit (about 20 years old) is on its last leg.

It's cloudy and nasty here today so I'll probably read or watch some movies when I get home. Yesterday I saw a 1948 movie, THE BOY WITH GREEN HAIR. TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES featured it and I recalled seeing it back when I was a little girl. I even recall the movie theater where I saw it. Are any of you familiar with it?

Hoping you are all doing well today.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Good Morning:

Spent half the day and all evening and night in bed as I felt a cold coming on. I had a very long nap and slept most of the afternoon. That and the anti allergens plus some chicken soup were a huge help. Feel about 90% this morning.

Yesterday my daughter went with me to buy a cell phone from which I can text. I texted my granddaughter and grandson and was tickled pink. I've got to get the cell phone numbers of the girls in NC so I can text and call them too. Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks? Not saying I'm comfortable with it but I'm rolling with the punches.

It's been cold but sunny here and each of those sunny days is a blessing. I really feel for you Penny with all the horrible weather you have had. It gets very old after a while.

Ladies, I am so happy for all of you who will be with your families at Easter. Enjoy the day. I have a good friend for 49 years who is single. Every Easter and every Christmas she has had Vic and me to dinner and this year I'll be going alone to her place. I'll bring the hors d'oevres, stuffed mini peppers. This is the first year I won't be celebrating Passover. It was always a family thing with Vic. There is no shortage of Seders I could go to but am just letting it pass. With Vic gone, my son and his family in NC and my grandson in NY there would just be 4 of us and I just don't have it in me.

Wishing you all a blessed Palm Sunday.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

The storms hit us this morning. We're supposed to get between 5 - 10 inches of snow. It began as rain, then turned to sleet & now wet snow. Can't see the neighbors house across the road as it's really coming down. Needless to say we're in for the day!

Yesterday I took a lot of stuff out of the glass cabinets in the living room. Put Bill's Iris dishes & my art glass in. Now I have the dinning room table full of stuff to pack & take to the Agape House. Have this "lady" who thinks I should give her everything I don't want so she can mqke some money off of it. I really didn't mind until she became so pushy. I'm trying to do something everyday. In time it does add up.

My scars almost flat except where the nave "used" to be. There's still a ridge with a sore spot on top. Wouldn't you know it's right at the waist band?

Val, I seem to be getting away from the computor also. Also I don't text. We're still on dial up & it's getting to be more of a pain with kicking you off more & more.

Don't understand the jusdge. Seems like he was a lazy sort. But I am glad it's all behind you. Don't people relaiaze that it'll atch up to them when thy do someone else wrong? Think that's called karma.

Gail, sounds like you'll be finished by fall. Have you found anything that you'd forgotten about but was so happy to find it again? Sometimes I feel like it's Christmas when I open a box of something I'd forgotten all about.

It's getting worse so better get off this thing. We have lots of woods around us & it's been know for the electric to go ogg.

Hope everyone has agood & safe day!

Gail I am sure a yard sale/thrift store would not thrill you at all!! However, I mainly shop for items for the park and clothes for me. As I am changing sizes, I try to purchase a few items to wear as things get too big. I hate to spend a lot of $$ so this works for me. Today I bought a nice pr of bermuda shorts for $1 and a pr of knit capri pants I will wear to the gym for 50 cents. They look new, but the elastic is twisted so I will fix that and be good! I also bought a birdhouse for the park for $1. I am usually looking for specific items and mostly for the park! To me it was mainly an hour away from here and some ME time today! DH stayed in bed and I woke him up when I got back so it worked great.
I had to take the car back to get the tinting checked on the windows and they are going to have to redo the front windows-they put in a seam and it didn't disappear like they said it would so Wed they get to redo the job!
I did my steps and DH and the dogs rode around in the golf car while I walked!! Even got a couple of loads of laundry done and gave Abbie a bath and gave DH a haircut. Made some progress!!
Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Those in the path of this late storm-stay safe and warm.
Pat

Gail, I don't text. I've done it maybe 2 or 3 times when I felt like I really needed to do it, but I think it's a major pain in the butt. I'd rather just talk on the phone...isn't that what phones are for?? But all of my work friends (who are mostly younger than me) would rather text than talk. I just don't get it, but oh well. If I can't get something done by making a phone call then it's probably just not going to get done.

I can't remember if I complained yesterday about how much I dislike Windows 8 so I'll just say it again. I hate it!! But this computer only cost me about $300, which is not at all bad for a computer, so I'm going to have to learn to deal with it. I've been wanting to start spending less time online and this new computer with the worst operating system I've ever seen is going to take care of that for me. It's okay...I can live without texting and I'm sure I can live without spending hours on my computer every day.

The weather has gotten nicer here, but today it's kind of chilly again. That's okay, soon enough it's going to hot enough to make me sick when I have to spend time outside, so I'll enjoy this weather while we've got it. Only one more week of work, and then I'm going to visit my parents in Tucson, where it's much warmer than it is here right now. Hopefully my kitties won't destroy the apartment while I'm gone...

So in line with my goal of spending less time on the computer, I'm going to wish you all farewell so that I can read the rest of my emails and go do something else. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Morning:

It's 3:30 am and I'm up with a stuffy nose...allergies. I stay up a bit then go back to bed.

What a day yesterday. A friend came by to help me and we wound up setting aside lots more stuff for hospice and 13 boxes of books for the University of Wisconsin library book sale. With the books I have boxed in the garage the grand total is 17 boxes of books for the library. Also, my friend loaded 6 boxes of books and CDs into the SUV for me and I brought them to Half Price Books.

Today I'm supposed to go with my daughter to get a cell phone. She's putting me on her plan since she has a free line. It won't cost either of us anything more because I make so few cell phone calls (perhaps 3-4 a month). I just need a phone and will get one that will enable me to text. I've got to learn to do that if I want to stay in touch with my grandchildren. Do any of you text?

No big plans for the weekend other than to get myself to the gym and to try to get back into the groove of PT exercises. For the past month I've almost always only used the gym for heat therapy for my arthritis. It really works and I've only had to take one does of ibuprofen once or twice a week,

Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend.

Gail

Pat: The idea of garage sales or thrift store sales repels me right now since I'm moving forward disposing of huge quantities of "things". I don't feel like I want or need much at all. I will treat myself to a new food processor since the ancient one I got from Goodwill decades ago has started to leak. Aside from that I'm good. The kitchen appliance I use the most is my immersion blender. I already gave hospice my electric knife and blender and I'll be giving them my bread machine and mixer. Now that I've stopped baking there's no need for those. If I do make something on occasion I'll use my wire whisk.

Gail you are not alone-shopping is not my bag either UNLESS it is a thrift store or a yard sale!! That I enjoy because I can get some bargains. My feet are also wide-I usually buy men's tennis shoes to get a decent fit and have been buying sandal for dress shoes-I can get away with that down here!!
Did some grocery shopping after lunch with friends today. We went to the medical supply office to return the knee chair that DH could not use. I was going to do it next week, but decided to do it today since Roger also needed to go there-no sense in wasting gas on a 2nd trip.
Hope the weather is decent in the morning-plan to go to a big community yard sale early and be back before DH gets up for the day! He would like to go but until he gets out of the wheelchair it would be hard as it gets sooo crowded at these sales. He would get run over or run over someone.

Gail, I've got very long feet that are also very wide and very flat, so I feel at least a part of your pain about the shoes. And I really hate shopping, too. I'll do it with a friend and maybe even enjoy myself just because I'm with the friend, but other than that I tend to run in, find what I'm looking for, choose what I want and then get out of the store really fast. I absolutely hate shopping... emoticon

Sandy, you absolutely got screwed, but I'll bet you're really glad to have it all over and done. $900 is a lot to have to send to a man who's already taken so much from you, but at least you never have to deal with that tenant again in your life. And people wonder why everyone is moving out of California...

In case anyone is wondering...I think that Windows 8 kinda sucks. It's very frustrating, but I guess it might be okay for people who have smart phones. I had a Windows 7 computer that just totally died a few days ago, taking with it every single darn thing that I hadn't gotten around to backing up, which is to say absolutely everything. (Well, most of my music has been backed up to flash drives and my iPod, but I lost everything else.) I already had this new Windows 8 machine (for a couple of weeks) but I hadn't set it up because such things are a real pain in the hind end. I'm still not 100% finished setting it up (even after 2 days) because I just don't care that much about computers anymore. I'm trying to stay offline a lot more than I used to, but I sure do wish that I'd saved all of my documents and pictures...

Be that as it may, I'm very happy to have finally arrived at the weekend. I'll spend a little bit of time trying to get used to this disaster called Windows 8, read, and play with my kitties. And the most important part of any weekend is getting to sleep past 3:00 in the morning for a couple of days. I might make some jewelry...or I might not. Just depends on what kind of mood I'm in this weekend, and right now I'm just tired and over all of this computer garbage. I hope that all of you have a great weekend doing something that makes you happy. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Good Morning:

Well, for the first time in years I went shopping yesterday. After 3 + hours I had very little to show for it. I went to TJ Maxx, Marshall's, DSW and a local "intimate apparel" shop. The only thing I came home with was a very expensive bra that I'm iffy about. I hate to shop, just hate it. For a long time now I've been wearing sports bras because I can slip them on over my head. Because of a severe loss in my range of motion, now in both shoulders, I can no longer fasten bras in the back or even fasten them in the front and turn them. I really need a front closure. Let me tell you they are hard to find in my size. I tried the genie bra on at Walmart and it was a laugh. The 2x was too small and that was the largest they had. (BTW, the 2x night gowns in Walmart were so big, two of me could have fit into them. Go figure.) As for shoes, I've a problem there too. I have very wide feet and dress shoes are very hard to find. I went to a specialty shoe store in the mall a few weeks ago and even there I couldn't get a good fitting shoe with a little 2 " heel. There's another shop at another mall that I may try. UGH... it's so frustrating.

I dropped off my donation slips to the Hospice Thrift store yesterday and learned that all the volunteers had been talking about the two car loads of donations they got from my house. They really appreciated the stuff and I'm confident they'll get some good money from it. Among the donations were silver plated items, crystal, kitchenware, collectibles, retro clothes, appliances, and electronics.

I've got to do my PT exercises but I just cannot get up to do them. It's obvious I'm losing range of motion in my shoulders because of it and it's my own darn fault.

Wishing you all a sunny day.

Gail

Pat: Sounds like you and Bill are both doing much better. I'm so happy for you.

Enjoy each day.

A big woo hoo-I made it to the gym today-1st time since mid Jan. I am shooting for twice a week to start and when DH gets to where he can walk some I will go to 3. I had a full day and my feet are telling me about it-they ache tonight. I did over 13,000 steps-two complete circuits of the park and then just the ordinary day to day stuff took care of that.
I had to take the car in this afternoon to get the film put on the windows. Down here it really helps to have the windows darker-especially in the summer. I have to take the car back for them to check things on Sat and they didn't put the strip across the windshield so they need to do that while I am there.
We are cooler today and thru tomorrow but to be in the 80's this weekend. Crazy weather all over.
Nite all.

Gail: i am so sorry to hear about your husband. I used hospice a tiny bit when my mother was dying, but it was mostly counseling to help her and us come to terms with her upcoming death, she was already in a nursing home, so most things were covered for her there.
Unfortunately i am a collector of stuff also, my kids say they will just set fire to it when I die, i told them they can't because I will hide money in things! i am trying to stop collecting junk and other stuff.
My prayers are with you in your grief.

Gail and Pat Thank you so much for your support. The Judge was a jerk. Basically, the renter got paid for stealing all my furniture, is what it boiled down to. BUT! I am glad that I sent the check certified mailed as it is now sitting at the post office waiting for him to pick up. The bad part is the Renter is the one who has to notify the courts on whether I paid or not. I had to pay by the 30th of this month and I have proof that I did and I proof I sent it. After the 31st of this month he can't really do anything according to the court documents. As he will be fined if he does not notify the courts that I paid. So, the longer he waits to pick it up the better.

Gail - You are doing a great job. I know that these past few months have been a roller coaster but, you are doing great. It is a lot of work. It took me about 4 yrs to finally get rid of all the clutter that my Mother had accumulated over the year and her travels and my fathers. My Mother kept everything even old Phone bills. Lets just say I about 35 bags of shredded paper, old Christmas cards, birthday cards and junk. But did fine $ 120.00. Ha! So, you will always fine a gem some where.

Pat - You are another one that is unbelievable. You have had your hands full for the last few months with Bill and help others and working on the yard and house. Your both inspirations to us all. I am so glad that Bill is getting along. He is in my prayers.

Well, I hope that all of you have a wonderful and great weekend. Sun is shinning right now here. We did get a little snow this morning but, not much. The Mountains got 15" in the late 24hrs and it is still snowing up there. Hubby is going up to ski tomorrow.

Tammy: My husband was the recipient of their good work in the last few months of his life. They provided palliative medications, volunteers to sit with him while I ran errands, a nurse's visit weekly and 24/7 nurses on call ( which we used a few times in the middle of the night), and a CNA to bathe and shave him 3 times a week. Additionally, they provided medical supplies such as Depends, oxygen tanks, a wheel chair, a walker, etc. All of this was provided free of charge to all patients, no matter their income. Hospice even provided caregiver respite service, where, for a couple of days Vic went to their residence while I went on R&R. Their facility looks like a high end B&B and Vic had his own suite with a patio on the periphery of a large, lovely garden. Everything was free of charge. What many people might not know is that even if you have the very best insurance, when someone has cancer or leukemia, your bills for things not covered by health insurance can be a lot. We were spending a few hundred dollars extra a month. It's no joke.

If you know of someone who is at the end of their life, Hospice is a dignified way to go, whether services are provided in the home or at their facility.

Enjoy each day.

Sandy: So sorry things didn't turn out the way you had hoped, but, as you say, it's time to move on. I too have cried a lot with all that I am facing, but I too must move on. It's just in the past several days that a certain calm has come over me and I'm no longer frenetic about getting everything out of the house ASAP. It gets done when it gets done. As long as I chip away at it I'll eventually see progress. In the meantime, it does my heart good to give to worthy causes.

Sandy so sorry you had a jerk of a judge. I can't believe how the courts are these days. I have no good feelings towards them. We had rental property and it took us 8 mo to get the tenants out, 8 mo without any rent $$$, they tore things up, and judge still gave them 6 wks to get out! I almost got contempt charges for asking the judge if he wanted to pay the bills and fix things up so I could rent it again! Never got a dime of the judgement we got. Just be glad it is over and done and move on.
Gail you have made such a difference in a lot of lives by your donations. Without these donations, a lot of charities would not be able to exist. Glad to hear you are getting to the gym. I have made a date to go tomorrow morning with our friends who moved into our park. I am going to trust that Bill will be ok for 90 min on his own.
Val it is good to hear from you and hope you have a great time visiting with your parents. I love AZ in the springtime. The catcus blooming are so pretty. I agree though, AZ in the summer is HOT!! It may be a dry heat, but it is still HOT!
We went to our usual Wed breakfast and had a bumper crowd-21 showed up today. We had rain off and on so I didn't get all my steps in (afraid I would melt)! I had a meeting this morning that lasted 2 hours. Our monthly RO meeting had several items I wanted to find out what the vote would be. I had to leave before it was over as DH had a therapist coming and I needed to be here to let her in. Friends stop by later this afternoon and visited with us. This was 1st time they had seen our ramp. They were impressed.
Hope all of you are having a good week.

Company has finally left and we are getting snow tonight. But, having the wind today with the cold. We are to get another 15 inches of snow in the Mountains tonight on top of the 15 inches we just got since Monday. And now they said we are going to get snow at our level which is at 500 ft level. Is it Spring?

Pat, yes we finally got word on the court results. Believe it or not the Judge said I had to paid the renter back $ 1200.00. The renter even admitted to the judge he took it the items but, the Judge thought we had over charged. So, I only sent him the renter $ 900.00 and said that's all I had and sent it certified mail. It is typical of California as this Judge did not even read anything we sent down and sent all the papers back to me the next day, after he told us he was going to read it. The judge would not allow my husband to talk at all as his name was not on the suet. It was all bad. Even my attorney said the same thing. But, after weighting the Pro's and Con's of appealing the case it was better just do what I did and get it behind us and move on. He knows he was in the wrong even the judge told him and scorned him on that. I don't think he should have the money but, I'm tried of it and them and just want to move on. My doctor even thinks it would be better for me at this time.

Sorry for going on so much. Thank for asking Pat. I am glad that Bill is getting a long better and glad that you have some help. Take care of yourself Pat. Love Ya!

Val - Have a wonderful trip. My BIL who lives in Az. said it has been very warm there lately. So enjoy!

Nan - Always good to have you popping in.

Gail - Good for you! I have found things I don't use I will give away to friends that do need it or to the goodwill.

Motelmom - Great job on your exercise program. Keep up the great work!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Good evening:

Three volunteers from Hospice came today to work with me on cataloging and boxing my donations. The list covered 7 sides of legal size paper! All in all they managed to get it into a large van and a car. They were loaded to the gills. It feels good to give this stuff away to a good cause. My kids don't want it and it's just too much. If I don't use it I gave it to them. Many of the items were brand new, still in shrink wrap or boxed.

Off to the gym now.

Motelmom: It's great that you got in some exercise. By the way, what is your name?

Nan: So glad you enjoyed your time with friends.

Val: I know you'll have a great time with your family in April.

Pat: You and Bill are ever in my prayers.

Enjoy the evening,

Gail

I just looked back to see when I last posted...8 days ago. Did anyone ever expect that I could go that long without feeling the need to throw my 2 cents in? emoticon I've been okay, just guess I haven't felt like I had much to say for a little while.

Things have been okay for me. Busy, busy, busy. Work, sleep, work, sleep, you know how the drill goes for me sometimes. emoticon I have to make it through this week of work and then next week...and then I'm off work for 2 weeks. emoticon On April 3rd I'm going to fly to Tucson to spend a week with my parents when it's not as hot as it was at the end of June when I went there to spend my birthday week with them last year. I don't think I've ever gone there during the spring before. I mostly opt for visiting Tucson in the winter for obvious reasons. It's a really nice area (my folks actually live about an hour north of Tucson) and I'm looking forward to seeing it in the spring and to getting to spend some time with my parents. They're 71 and 72, which is not really terribly old when you're in really good shape like they are, but I don't want to have regrets later on about not spending time with them when I could have. (But I'm NOT going to feel any regrets about not visiting them in the summer ever again...)

Gail, it sounds like you're continuing to make progress with the "stuff." I know you're never going to be able to recover what Vic spent on all of it, but I'll bet that having an easier time walking around your home feels really great.

Pat, I'm glad that DH seems to be recovering nicely. It must be nice for him to be able to get out of that cast...and probably nice for both of you that he can take showers again. emoticon

I'm sure that there are things I should say to the rest of you but it's gotten really late because of the fact that I had to go to the dentist after work. I'd better glance at the rest of my email and then try to get to bed on time...for once...I hope that you're all having a really great week.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy what ever happened with your court case?? Did I miss something during our "fun times"?
Gail so glad you were able to let a few more things go. I guess every little bit helps. My goal in the next couple of weeks is to get our spare bedroom decluttered. It caught everything when we unloaded the mh so now I have to decide what I want to keep and what to donate. I also have some of dad's stuff still in there and need to decide what to do with it. I guess if I go at things one room at a time I can get thru stuff. Why does it always seem there are not enough hours in the day????
This week DH got his cast off on Monday and now is wearing a big clunky boot. The best thing about that is he can remove it to take a shower, take it off when he goes to bed and sits still in his recliner. If he had not broken his hip, he would already be back walking, but his stubbornness about walking on the crutches means it isn't going to happen for a bit! He also had PT on Monday and today the nurse came-had his BP not been way too high (not sure why) he would have been discharged today but now she will return on Fri. If it is normal then, he will get released, if not, expect her to come back next week.
This afternoon the eye dr checked to see how the infection in his lid was faring. He has to stay on the antibiotic for another 4 days and continue the hot compress 4x a day. We won't go back to see him for nearly 4 weeks. At that time we hope things are cleared entirely and we can discuss options for the cataract in the other eye. Always some health issue to worry about.
I got out to walk early this morning and had over 7500 steps in by 8:30 and hit my 10,000 before noon. Glad of that, I was hating being out there walking at dark to get my steps in but had to take care of other things for DH! I even did 3 loads of laundry today and for the 1st time in about 3 weeks, I cooked dinner! We have finished up the bounty of food delivered by our friends so now I am cooking things I know we should be eating!!

Good Evening:

A friend and I went to dinner yesterday and all night I was up with heartburn. I cannot figure it out because I didn't have anything spicy.

Today I sold 5 vintage bikes, a pedal car and a rocking horse to a local man. Tomorrow a friend is coming over to help me set things aside for the Hospice Thrift Store, and on Wednesday some volunteers from Hospice are coming to help me some more and to cart the things away.

Hope you are all doing well.

Gail

Nan: I miss you.

Pat: So glad you and Bill had a nice time yesterday.

Val: What have you been up to? Are you feeling well?

Sandy: What's new with you?

Enjoy each day.

Happy St. Paddy's day everyone. We went to our community dinner this evening-tickets were gratis-someone couldn't go so gave them to us. Nice end to the day and weekend and a delicious dinner.

Glad to have gotten thru this week and all the dr appts, etc. Today the home health nurse came and took out the staples for DH. Now if he can get the cast off he will be ready for a shower!!!
We had friends come to visit about 11 today. Had not seem them since all this mess with DH. We had a nice visit then went to The Olive Garden for lunch and back here to play cards. It was a nice afternoon. Felt good to just relax and not rush around for an appointment or try to catch up on stuff. It will all start up next week again but going to enjoy this weekend of chilling out!

Copperpenny.. 75 is cold to you? I will be wearing a t-shirt at 60 here. LOL it is beautiful here and around 60 degrees, I have been working outside most of the morning.
I am on track with my food today, and have gotten my goal + some in exercise today, i think I will have to change my goal for exercise, I have been doing more regularly. I started it very low so I would not be overwhelmed at the start.
Well I hope you all get feeling better and have a good afternoon.

Got the staples & drain tube taken out Tuesday. He (doctor) told me I didn't have any restrictions but Bill sure does. It's still very sore & I'm tired a lot but guess that goes with it.

Fisihed up going thru all my jewerly. Have some put away for the GK & took a bag of what I didn't want into the auctopn & gave to a lady with 2 teen agers. Told her to go thru it & take what they'd use 7 give me back the rest. That I'll take to the Agape House . It was just a small thing to do but I'm glad it's done.

It's really cold today. Friday it was 75. Might have snow tomorrow.

Hope everyone has agood & safe day!

Good Evening:

I feel a cold coming on and need to nip it in the bud. Rest and sleep usually work well as well as OTC meds and my RX for sinusitis.

I started grief therapy this week and felt better today. Found out there was a foul-up with my accounts at the credit union and had to go to two offices to straighten things out. When you put a block on financial accounts they don't let money come in our out. I had to go down and clear everything up. My biggest problem was my SS check which is due to arrive on this coming Wednesday. The credit union will take special measures to deposit my SS in my new account this time. I need to contact SS on Monday and give them the new account number. I know I'm feeling better because I was able to handle all of this calmly and patiently. I would have pushed the panic button less than a week ago.

Sending you all love and hugs,

Gail

Time for me-that is my walking time!!! I have told DH he owes me BIG TIME when he gets better. Ha ha!
Today was pretty much a repeat of yesterday. We did sleep till a little after 8 and then I got DH up, he washed up and got on clean clothes while I fixed him some breakfast. I was planning to get out for my walk when the physical therapist called to ask about coming today. TODAY, I thought it would be on Fri! Told her we had an open time slot between 10 and 11:30!!! She made us her 1st appointment of the day. Good thing.
We went out to lunch with the boat club today since it was too cold to go by boat, we could drive to the restaurant. Everyone was surprised to see DH there. It was good for him to get out and visit with folks. We got back home around 1:30 and after he came inside for a potty break, I took him back outside where he could visit with everyone coming by the house. I got in a short walk before we had to leave for his dr appt which was at 3:15.
Dr went over all the meds prescribed for DH at rehab and made a couple changes and then ordered meds for us at our online pharmacy and had me get a 30 day supply of one med and I had to get os-cal + D and vitamin D OTC. He will only be on these short term-they are to help with the healing of the broken bones. When we left there, it was another trip to the pharmacy. I was shocked-another zero cost medicine. I got the OTC meds and a elastic wrist band eh suggested to help the bad wrist.
We made it home a few minutes after 5 and another dinner was delivered to us tonight. We ate on it and I froze the rest so it would not go to waste. I have several meals that I can pull and heat up now. Biggest problem was getting inside to eat it-folks kept stopping by to visit!!
I went out and finished my walk after we had our dinner. I am a morning person so pushing to walk that late is not good-I have to figure out a schedule to accommodate that!!! Maybe when I get him thru this round of dr appointments things will settle down.
Pat

Home but still busy-went to breakfast with our Wed group. DH could not wait for a decent meal out! Home health had already called when we got back so returned their call and the nurse was already on the way to see us. She arrived about 10:30 and was here for an hour. They will likely only come 2-3 times. Mainly to check his dressing and change it until the staples come out. Offered help bathing him-he quickly told her NO to that one!! Till staples come out and cast comes off he can't shower anyhow.
I called his eye dr and got him in this afternoon to check what is happening there. He didn't get to see his usual doc but this one prescribed antibiotics for him (said eye drops were not going to clear it up as the lid is infected) and told us to put a warm compress on it 4x a day. Have a return visit in a week with his own doc.
Filled us with gas-1st time since we got the car-took 8 gallons for 3 weeks of driving. Love this-avg 44.5 MPG.
Picked up DH's script from Target-$0 cost-wow. Such a shock!
Used our heated seats for the 1st time this morning-DH's would not turn off so stopped at Toyota on the way home and the tech got it off but they have to order a new switch.
Then we made an appointment to get out windows tinted-that will be done next week. Down here one needs that to help keep the heat out.
I even managed to get 2 loads of laundry done and walked 10,000 steps. Now time to call it a day!!

Pat that is great news that Bill is home. It is great that you have lowered your triglycerides and your cholesterol down that is wonderful. Keep up the great work. Now that Bill is home I know that you will have your hands full. Please remember to take some time for you too so you don't where yourself out.

I hope that everyone is having a great week. Weather here is rainy and a little cool but, warm in the mountains. So, we are not getting any snow in the mountains. Have a great rest of the week everyone and take care.

Good Morning:

It's a busy morning for me: annual lab tests, meeting at the bank to change my ira distribution and then off to a PT appointment. I didn't mention it but I had a scare with the iras too. The year one reaches 70 1/2 you have to take a minimum annual ira distribution. The minimum goes up every year with your age, and if you don't take it the government taxes the amount you should have taken 50%.

I have an ira with the state and from the private sector. Someone gave me misinformation saying that I had to take the minimum from each, based on its value on Dec. 31 of the previous year. Well, I'd been taking it all from one source, not two. I nearly had a heart attack because the one I'm taking if from is the smaller of the two iras. Turns out this person was wrong. The government doesn't care where you take it from so long as the combination is what it would have been if you took each from its source. Whew!

Better get going now.

Wishing you all happiness today.

Gail

Pat: So glad Bill is home. It's great that you are changing doctors. The one that you have doesn't sound like a prize.

Enjoy each day.

DH is home-we arrived about 1. I think they kept him after noon so they could bill medicare for another day-paperwork should not take all morning as far as I am concerned. They knew yesterday he was to be discharged today so get your ducks in a row!!!! Oh well, we are out of there and plan to never go back if we can avoid it.
It rained off and on all morning but luckily where he got in the car was covered so that worked for us but at home it is wide open since I can't pull into the carport. Sonny & Vicky met us and helped get DH inside and carry in the remaining stuff that I didn't bring home yesterday.
I made it to my dr appt at 9:30 and she was running really late. I had decided if she didn't come in by 11 I was walking out but she arrived about 10:45 and didn't spend 5 min with me. Gave me my labs, checked feeling and pulse in my feet (didn't even listen to my heart) and that was it-come back in 6 mo!!! NOT, I am changing drs - going to DH's internist in Aug when I get my welcome to Medicare visit! My triglycerides dropped from 198 to 109 and my total cholesterol from 188 to 169. Still not happy with my fasting blood sugar-it was 115 and I need to try to eliminate sugar completely I guess and watch carbs even more to help with that. I had lost 20 lbs on her scales but she has a different one from last visit and CNA told me it weighs 10 lbs heavier than the old one which would put my weight loss at the 30 lbs I had registered on my scales.
Gail glad to hear you are going to visit your family. I am sure they will enjoy having you and you will enjoy getting to see their apartment.

Pat

Good Evening:

Another few very stressful days. (For the most recent challenges please see my latest blog.) Every little thing is like a mountain for me to climb, so when a problem comes up I hit the panic button. For the past couple of weeks I've been very depressed but I'm doing something about it. Today I went for grief counseling; it was long overdue. Afterward, I went off to the gym for some heat therapy. I've been so stressed that I haven't been doing my PT exercises. I can really feel the difference in the range of motion I've lost in my shoulders. My right one is almost as bad as my left. The good news is that my left knee continues to improve. Thank God.

Yesterday I made arrangements to visit my family in Charlotte in May. My youngest granddaughter is graduating from 8th grade and I decided to go her graduation. I'm looking forward to it. It will also give me the opportunity to see their apartment. They've been there a year or two but I never saw it because Vic was too ill to go and I couldn't leave him. This trip should be happy all the way around.

Haven't caught up on the postings yet; forgive me.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Pat, thinking of you--and sending prayers that recuperation will be 'uneventful.'

good afternoon everyone, it is a beautiful day here, I got off work and went on a short bike ride and did some walking in the store while waiting for a prescription, after I rest a bit I think I will do a little house work and maybe some weed pulling. i want to enjoy this nice weather,
my food has been ok so far this week, it seems harder now than it did the first month or so. I think it may be my food choices triggering some cravings. But maybe not ,now that I typed this I realize I was always at the top of my calorie limit the first month, and I have been trying to stay close to the smaller number, because I stopped losing alot of weight quickly, now I have to work for it. Darn it.
Well hope you all have a good day.

I went in at 7 am this morning for my "family training" and even though it was a major waste of time, I satisfied them and DH is scheduled to some home tomorrow. I have a dr appt at 9:30 and will head to the rehab center right after I get done and hopefully the wheelchair will have arrived and we will be on our way home before noon!!!! I plan to take a nap in the afternoon to help get back some of the sleep I have lost-doubt I will get it as I imagine folks will be dropping in to see him but the thought is good!!!
Friends took me to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch-great salad and had a small bowl of their tomato soup. I even managed to get my 10,000 steps in today. It will sure be nice to get back on track (at least that is my plan).
