Good Morning:

Well, it snowed all day yesterday and we got a boatload of accumulation. That being said it looks beautiful out there. But looks can be deceiving. It's very cold and will get colder yet. I'm probably staying in today with a good book. Jonathan Kellerman's THE WEB is the next one on my agenda.

What are you all up to today? Hope everyone is feeling well.

Gail

Val and Penny: We haven't heard from you in a few days. Hope you're doing all right.

Pat: How is Bill doing?

Enjoy each day.

Good Afternoon:

It's been snowing here since very early this morning and I'm sure glad I don't have to go out. Yesterday we hit a record high and today...well, that's Wisconsin weather for you.

I went to my PT appointment yesterday and I retrogressed. It's my own fault for not doing the exercises. I have been down these past couple of weeks dealing with the tombstone and finding I had not made much progress on the sale of Vic's things. Now I won't have an excuse. Yesterday I contracted with a local business to sell Vic's collections. They took a bunch of stuff yesterday and were supposed to come again today, but with the weather, such as it is, we may just wait a day or two.

BTW I read a very disturbing feature on yahoo a while ago and put the link in the blog I posted. There was a settlement between the banks and merchants whereby merchants may charge consumers who pay with credit cards. The merchants are up in arms and are between a rock and a hard place. If they start charging consumers they fear a loss of business.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Enjoy each day.

What an absolutely beautiful day-but it is all supposed to come to a crashing end by tomorrow evening if I can believe the weatherman. We are supposed to fall from 85 tomorrow to 65 on Thur and have rain Wed evening into Thur. Of course, we are supposed to be getting our driveway done Wed and Thur so this might mess that up. At the same time, repairman is supposed to be here for our refrigerator so it should prove to be an interesting day.
Hope all of you had a good day today and got to enjoy a bit of warmer weather and don't experience any bad storms.

Sandy so glad to hear that you were able to get great accomodations. - I just hate it when they misrepresent things. Hope you all have a marvelous time.

Gail all that nasty weather you are having-you will be glad to come south. I think your idea of staying in is probably a great one.

We have two more days of temps in the 80's and then will get down into the high 60's or low 70's for a few days. Guess we can't expect April weather in January but sure has been nice.

Had a crazy day-walk, take car to shop, walk home, walk some more, work in the yard, clean up, go out to lunch with friends, clean the refrigerator, now time to get off here and relax a few minutes before bed.

Thank everyone. I am glad that that part of it is behind us right now too. We are in Whistler, Canada and it is snowing and beautiful. The hotel we had booked we not what we had booked. We had asked them to change the two bunk bed for a queen as our son is 6' 4" didn't happen and the place was dirty. They had told us there was two bathrooms in the suite and there is only one tiny one and you had to duck as there was a duct system that run though the middle. Anyways they wouldn't even do anything to help at the front desk and DH is a Priority Club Member with the Hotel so he called the main number and complained. Long story short we went next door and got a beautiful suite for a little more but with everything we wanted.

I hope that everyone is having a great beginning to a new week. Have a good one.

Penny: We have a winter advisory. There is to be icy precipitation starting at noon. UGH. I'm not going anywhere.

Pat: My sister lives in Aventura, about a 20 minute drive from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. I'll be visiting with her in Feb. With this awful weather I keep focusing of warm, sunny days.

Feel like I might be coming down with the sniffles so will stay in bed and drink hot tea today.

Enjoy your Sunday.

We're going to wait a bit go get another freezer. And we'll be putting it in the craft room close by the other freezer when we get it. . Bill moved the refrig over where the freezer was & now wants to put in some shelves where it was. I have several of the old time coffee jars that I use to hold flour, sugar & etc. So he'lll build the shelves just wide enough to sit the jars on. That should make keeping track of what we have on hand easier as well as adding to the kitchen.

They called off SS & church this morning as we have ice on all the side roads, drive ways & country roads. Right now it's raining & supposed to get a bit warmer. Right now it's still in the 20's. If it does that should get rid of the ice. We'll see. They've been proved wrong before. The bird stations are all full of birds.

Not much else going on. Hope everyone has a good & safe day!

Morning everyone. Hope you are all staying warm and having a good weekend. I felt good yesterday-nothing broke so I count it a good day!!! Have to take the car in for repair tomorrow. I will drop it off and walk home-shop is about a mile from our house.
We are working to get our carport cleaned off as it is to be resurfaced Wed & Thur. Hoping for once we don't get rain! Of course it is predicted for both days. I normally am wishing for more rain, but just not then! Oh well, it will get done when it gets done.
I am up early to do a little sparking and about ready to get dressed and head out for my walk. I have to get my cauliflower salad made after that and by noon we will be off to our friends for an afternoon BBQ. Feels good to be going to socialize-we have pretty much not done any groups since we got ill in Dec.
Enjoy the weekend ladies.

Gail are you coming down to visit Florida. I believe you have a relative down further south from us??? Weather has been great so hoping it holds if you are heading our way.

Sandy glad to hear you FINALLY got it all approved and set up exactly like you wanted.

We had a great day-so happy the weather is back in the 70's. I got a lot done today. I got a haircut but the gal cut it too short so now it is going to be really hard to do anything with it till is grows out some. Oh well, I will survive and it isn't the end of the world.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

OK, so I called the Court system again today to find out IF I got my postponement for the trail. emoticon I finial got it. So, it is on March 1st and I got it set up by phone so we don't have to go down to California. I am so happy to get it all taken care of before my son arrives and before we leave. Now, I can relax the rest of the time we are gone. When we get back I just have to do taxes and call the Attorney let her know what is going on with the court date.

Well, I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend and with no mishaps i.e. Refig going out or teeth breaking or batteries going dead. emoticon emoticon

This must be the time for things to go on the fritz! We realized our refrigerator, the one we just sunk about $400 into fixing the icemaker and auger on is not cooling properly! DH thinks it is the fan that went out and not the compressor since the freezer is working great so I guess we will sink some more $$$ into it. However, we can't get the service tech out till next Wed. Luckily we have a 2nd refrigerator in our outside Florida room but it certainly is a pain to have to run out there to get anything but we will deal till then.
Gail may I ask where you are going to sell your jewelry and coins? I have some I would like to sell but don't have any idea where to go. There are always advertisements of people coming in to motels and buying but I figured they would rip a person off.
Can't remember if I told you we finally got a new lamp for our family room. We have had this horrible black hanging lamp that came with the house when we purchased it and it always has reminded me of a dungeon with it's big black chain, etc. Well, I have a nice small hanging lamp that has an extension arm on it and it looks so nice on that wall in place of that huge monstrosity.
Now we think the ceiling fan in the family room is going out-it is making a horrible rumble when it is running! Guess that is the next thing we will have to replace or maybe the washer-it was making weird noises yesterday! I guess it is always something. All of our appliances came with the house and are about 12-13 years old so I guess it is just the time when they will start to conk out.
Well, I imagine it has warmed up enough now that I can get out and go for my walk. I find if I go earlier not as many people stop me to talk! I need to go to Wal-Mart so will go there after I get in my steps. Not looking forward to that!
Have a great weekend.
Pat

Gail the body shop is less than a mile from our house so I will drive it up and walk home from there Monday morning. If we need to go anywhere, we are lucky to have friends who will take us. DH will have therapy on Tues so he will need a ride to that and I don't think we will get the car back till later in the afternoon.

Sandy, yeah, like it wasn't cold enough for you...you have to go to Canada to get a little bit colder. emoticon emoticon It was still warm here today. In fact it was supposed to get up to 60 or 63 degrees this afternoon! I'm not sure exactly how warm it got, but it did feel nice when I got off work. I'm so pleaed that we don't have the kind of weather that some of you are having here. I lived in upstate New York when I was a kid so I do remember that cold that seeps into your bones and just won't go away for hours. I hope that those of you who live up north are keeping warm. I don't want to hear about any frostbite this week. emoticon

Gail, that's great that you were able to get enough money for the jewelry you didn't want anymore to pay for everything that your car needed. I was able to make enough money to keep me from bouncing checks one time when my former DH was eating me out of house and home and I had rent coming due. It's too bad that you can't make that kind of money selling Vic's collections, but oh well. At least the jewelry kept you from having to take out a loan or dip into savings in order to deal with your car.

I'm sure I have more to say, but I haven't been sleeping well and I think I need to go to sleep early this evening more than I need to try to remember what I wanted to say to everyone. I hope you all have a great Friday.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Afternoon;

Well, it was another one of those strange days. On Tuesday I spent a chunk for a new battery and tire rotation, and today I shot a wad to fix the steering mechanism. This week the car was a big expense. Ah, but wait....

For years I've had some silver and gold jewelry that I haven't worn in ages. Some of it was in need of repair, and in one case I only had one earring. Today I sold them and some more coins I recently found. Surprise! I got enough cash to more than cover my auto expenses. I tell you my life continues to be a roller coaster.

It's very cold and gloomy here and that has contributed to my need to hibernate. I did run errands today and managed to go to the gym. Woo Hoo

! Now I'm down for the count and will probably watch TV.

Sending hugs to all,

Gail

Penny: So sorry to hear that you had that mess with the freezer.

Val: I bet you can't wait to get your new teeth. Won't that be a relief!

Sandy: Keeping you in my prayers and hoping that your California property issues are quickly resolved.

Pat: I bet Bill is in 7th heaven now that he has his hearing aid back. Good for him and great that it was still under warranty. Sorry about your mishap; will you need rides early in the week when it's in the shop?
It was great to hear that your friend's cancer hasn't spread. Will keep him in my prayers.

Enjoy each day.

Gail so thankful you were close to your family - that had to be scary to be stranded in that cold. Glad you do keep a blanket. I worry about my son as he works in Williston, ND and sleeps in the truck when they don't need him as he often works 24 hours on to be there to service the equipment so grabs sleep when things are running good and it has been extremely cold up there. He says he has rigged some kind of a heater and runs the truck off and on to keep it warm and he wears special gear to stay warm. Also, they have caps you can put on your tires that signal when they are low-we have them-but not sure they are worth the money if your car signals you it is low. As Val says, get yourself a gage at an auto supply store and ask them to show you how to use it. If you get it at a place like Wal-Mart they won't show you.
Val that is great that you finally have a date to look forward to to get your teeth. I feel so luck I never had to wait to get my bridge put in for any length of time.
Sandy I hope you have a nice visit and trip with your son. As if it isn't cold enough where you are, you head into Canada!!! I hope you have decent weather. Hoping and praying that things get resolved with your California property.
Copperpenny so sorry to hear about your freezer. That is really bad that you lost food. I know that is really aggravating and a mess. I didn't get the door shut on ours and didn't realize it till the next morning and lost quite a lot last spring. Ours is in our Florida room and when I got something out I guess something was sticking out so it didn't shut and voila, I had a mess too!
DH got his hearing aide back yesterday so he is happy. Glad it was under warranty and didn't cost us anything. We also got an estimate on our car and it is under our deductible so won't turn this in. I can't believe the damage it did when I pulled up and got over the concrete barrier in the parking lot and when I backed out the plastic cage under the engine caught on the concrete and that caused the bumper to pull loose from the fender! Will be even more careful from now on. Will get it fixed next week so will be without a car Mon & Tues.
Today was our weekly breakfast out and had 18 come and everyone was chatty so we didn't get out of the restaurant till after 9 and then I stopped at Walgreens for more claritan and then the grocery store to get some items I needed to make vegetable soup. I made a huge pot and let it simmer most of the day. I shared it with our friend Ruth, and with Vicky & Sonny. Tomorrow I will give Roger & Ruthie a container.
Please keep Vicky & Sonny in your prayers-the cancer was not in the lymph nodes, but got outside the prostrate. He has to wait 7 weeks and get another PSA reading. Then the dr will decide if he needs further treatment. He is having complications and is very depressed and angry about all of this and taking it out on Vicky. I walked with her twice today - I can't solve the problem but I can be a good listener. DH will try to cheer him up. We went thru a lot of this last winter so he can relate to all of this.
We had our annual meeting today and now have new officers for the coming year.
Well, getting late so guess I need to head to bed.
Sorry folks but we hit 69 today and going to mid 70's thru Tues and then into the low 80's. I will try to huff and puff and send some warm weather north.
I am feeling quite a bit better-seems the claritan is doing the trick. DH is still coughing but no fever and he says he is feeling some better so maybe the warm weather will help get us well.

Val - That is great news for you about your teeth. I'm glad things are going better.

Copperpenny - Sorry about your freezer. That must of been a mess. I hope you got a new Refig. by now. It is good that you had another freezer though.

Gail - Be care out there. I am glad that you carry a blanket in the car with you. But, with the Temps being so low and no heat that wouldn't have been good. Glad that your granddaughter lived close. I always tell DH to take a blanket with him with he goes up skiing in case something happens. He some times gets stuck in traffic coming home due to accidents.

Pat - I don't feel too prepared for my son but, thank you. We did some cleaning today. How are you and DH feeling? I hope that the two of you are starting to feel better. At least you don't have the cold weather like some of us.

Nan - It is always good to hear from you and here what you have been up to.

Well, had to deal with California again today they still don't have my postponement done yet. When I call about the Telephonic they said I need to let them know the change of date by 3 PM the day before the original date of the telephonic which is Jan.31st, which when we are out of town. So, DH got on the phone after I found that out and he was able to find out that I will get the postponement but, we just don't know when in February. So, DH will be calling them again neither to say.

I was able to get some wash, cleaning and baking done. I still need to go to the store but, will do that when our son comes so he can pick out a few thing for the trip too. It's was a good day. It start raining here today which is good as it brought the temps back up a little. Well, at least we are in the high 30's now and now the low 30's Mid 20's like we were. I know some of you are having some very cold weather. Please be safe and stay warm.

We are leaving Sunday for Canada and I will keep in touch. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Gail, I'm a couple of days behind here but I wanted to answer your question about that shooting. It happened 2 or 3 miles from my apartment complex so yes, it was kind of close but not close enough that I was ever in any danger. It was a terrible thing. Too much crazy (and sad) stuff going on involving guns these days. On a totally different topic, after you've had someone show you how to check your tire pressure (it's really easy) you should buy a tire gauge and keep it in your glove compartment. That would almost guarantee that you would never need to use it. emoticon

So the good news for today is that I went to see my dentist after work today. That's not always good news but today he wanted to check to make sure that the frame for my bridge is going to fit...and it did! Next Thursday I'll be getting my real fake teeth put back in. emoticon I can hardly wait...

It was warm here today. Not late spring or summer warm, definitely not Tucson, Arizona warm. But warm enough that I didn't need to wear the wool coat I wore in the morning when I was leaving work. We've just been having schizophrenic doggone weather. I'm sure we'll get another blast of really cold air before winter is through with us, but we're not going to have anything anywhere near what Gail (and many others of you, I'm sure) has been dealing with. I hope you're all staying bundled up and warm.

That's about it from my neck of the woods today. Everyone have a great Hump Day tomorrow. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

We went to Bill's skin doctor today & when we left it was snowing. But when we got back to the interstate, to come home, it wasn't. Funny how it just snows in some places & then leaves others alone. But it's really cold & the wind doesn't help at all.

Our freezer went out & we has a mess to clean up. Bill got the stuff still frozen put in the other freezer & we had to open up all that had thawed & give the chickens. Both cleaning the freezer & taking it to the chickens was a very cold job. I don't think it'd be so bad if the wind hadn't been so strong.

Just want to stay home the rest of the week

Hope everyone' keeping warm & safe!

Good Morning;

UNBELIEVABLE! I just had a scarey experience. I took my friend to the bus stop at 4:30AM this morning and had no problem. But when I tried to restart the car the battery went dead. Understand that it was -6F and the wind chill was about -20F. We have a weather alert warning of the dangers at such wind chills. The inside of the car cools off mighty fast at that temperature. I called for road service for the first time in my life and was told there would be a 45 minute wait. At that point I almost pushed the panic button. I have a blanket in the car, but was feeling the cold get to me quickly and there was no place that was opened at that hour where I could keep warm. By good fortune, my granddaughter lives 1 block from where the car stalled so I called her and waited at her place for a while. The road service arrived and got my car going pronto. As I looked at the dashboard I saw the icon that lets me know when one of my tires needs air. Oh goodie! I don't know how to test the tires or add air so I'll have to go to a gas station and have someone show me. What a harrowing experience.

Going to curl up with a book and a mug of tea now.

G.

Enjoy each day.

Sandy it sounds like you are pretty prepared for your son's visit. Hope he heeds your advice and packs for your weather. It is hard to imagine the temperature difference when one is not in that same weather.
Gail I cannot even imagine dealing with your temperatures anymore!! I did when we lived in Stl. Louis but we left there 12 years ago so have not dealt with winter weather since then! However, it got even with us last summer, we had to deal with the 100+ temperatures while on vacation last summer.
We are running about normal temps right now, but after the 80's we had for 10 days, it feels cool. Pretty bad when I am complaining about 72 and you are 0!
I am still fighting a head cold and can't seem to get it cleared up. I have not gotten my energy back since having the flu in Dec and guess my resistance is still down. Of course, all the visits to the dr's offices has not helped even with all my hand washing and using sanitizer!
I had a meeting this morning and need to get done here and type the minutes since I have been the acting secretary!

Gail - That is cold. You be careful when you go out. I don't blame you for not wanting to download the games. It keeps your computer safe. I don't know if you hear about Java or if you have it installed in your computer but, there has been some problems with hackers been able to get information by using Java. The FBI asked that everyone uninstall it. It helps run computers, some Cell phones and Ipads. They say until the maker of Java can correct the problem no one should be using it. I know with my Norton it will not allow me to use it. I uninstalled it and ran Malware and I was OK. So, you are smart by not downloading anything.

Didn't sleep last night, I had a bout of insomnia. So, I should sleep tonight. I did a lot of cleaning yesterday and I think I over worked my hand and shoulder as that was what was keeping me up. Just took it easy all day today.

Everyone take care and have a great week!

Good Morning:

Well, it's 1F now and will go down below zero tonight. The anticipated high for today is 4F. That's not really too bad. The problem is the wind chill. There's an alert on till late tomorrow with anticipated wind chills of -25F to -30F. It's been a while since we've seen this kind of weather. Boy, am I glad my car is in the garage!

Tomorrow morning I'm picking a friend up at 4:30am and taking her to the bus. She's visiting friends in AZ and the only non-stop flights go out of O'Hare (Chicago). It's a 3 hour bus ride from Madison but lots of people do it because if you fly from here you need to change planes and the cost is prohibitive. I really don't mind because I can come home and go back to bed. The only other thing on the docket for tomorrow is a meeting with the Rabbi to discuss Vic's tombstone, but that's not till 4:15.

Feeling fine today and had a good night's sleep. Wasn't bothered by the knee or the shoulders. Woo Hoo!

I'm going to start a new book today, DEVIL'S WALK, by Jonathan Kellerman. It's another Alex Delaware mystery.

Stay well and do good things,

Gail

Val: There was a yahoo feature that said there was a shooting in Albuquerque. Did that take place anywhere near you? The shooter was a teenager and several children died.

Sandy: I don't download anything from the internet and so I don't play pogo games that require a download. Also, I like to play with robots; it's less intimidating...LOL

Enjoy each day.

Gail - are you on POGO playing games? As I play on there a lot and love the games. Right now I am sew up DH's PJ bottoms for our trip as they are too long. But, I am making more grocery bags as they were such a hit at Christmas that my friend showed it to another friend and now she wants me to make a few as her friend wants to buy a couple.

Talked to our son today and he is so excited. I think he has finally learned that it is better to pack early. He told his Dad that he was going to start packing today so that he knows what he still needs. We sent him a $ 100 gift card to Sport Chalet for Christmas so he could get his board waxed and buy what he needs for the trip to come up. Mom has been trying to teach him it is better to pack early as if there is something missing you have time to get it or get it ready. Plus everything is in one place ahead a time. I also send a list of thing for him to bring as last year he showed up in a t-shirt and shorts and it was snowing and 29 degrees. He was pretty cold. I told him No shorts this year. HA!

I hope that all of you are having a great weekend. Have a great week everyone!

Good Morning:

The wind was fiercely howling last night for hours and hours. It's going to be in the low teens today and will fall below zero by tonight. Right now it's calm and sunny. Gee but it's great to be inside!
I'm going to chill out today. That means read, watch some old movies and play computer games. Do any of you do Sudoku? I love it and do the EVIL ones, which are a step above HARD. I also like to play HEARTS, BEJEWELED, SCRABBLE, and BOOKWORM.

I hurt so much yesterday so I went to the gym and sat in the hot tub. I felt a bit better but my knee hurt too much to exercise. Afterward I went to the supermarket to pick up a few things and my knee hurt so badly that I was near tears. When I got home I went for the Ibuprofen and a short while later everything was fine. I was even able to do my PT. A friend told me that it takes a long time for the meniscus tear to heal and you do have good and bad days till it does. This roller coaster had me a bit perplexed.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Sandy: What are you sewing?

Enjoy each day.

Sandy I hope you have a great week with your son.
Gail it is good to hear you are getting a little return on your items. I know it is pennies on the dollar but at least it is something-maybe to fund another trip????
I didn't get a lot done today-walked this morning and then visited with friends who kept dropping by so didn't accomplish what I had planned for today but it will wait for another day. I did work in the park gardens this afternoon and deadheaded the roses and that filled 2 five gallon buckets! I did get another volunteer to help us so maybe that will lighten my laod a little bit. In the summer it is just 2 of us to do it all so always grateful for help during the winter.
I gave Abbie a bath today since it was warmer - I like her to air dry rather than using the hair dryer.as that dries her skin out too much.
I am still struggling with a cold-I guess it is just going to have to run it's course.

Good Morning:

The night before last I was up half the night with the onset of a cold. Come to find out yesterday that my sil who helped me a few days ago has a bad cold. Thanks Reed! Anyway, I've been drinking fluids like crazy and taking Benedryl. I'm much better today and think I've warded it off.

Yesterday was a very good day. I brought magazines, books, CDs, DVDs, and coins to the various places that have been buying from me and made quite a haul. I got about $385! Today I'll make a trip to the Hospice Thrift shop and run some errands. I will also go to the gym for heat therapy in the hot tub. If my knee doesn't hurt too much I'll exercise too.

Got to run now but will be back later.

G.

Enjoy each day.

Val - Glad to hear that things at work are going better and that your new co-worker is working out.

Pat - Keep an eye on that Phone bill. I know that a lot of people have gotten rid of home phones and are just using cells. Glad to hear that you and DH are doing better.

Gail - Nice to hear you are taking a break now and again from the orangizing, moving and cleaning of all the items. You some times have to take a break to get a handle on it or you can become overwhelmed. I did that when my Mom past and all most got rid of some important papers. I got so forcus on cleaning up that I got tunnel vision. Luckily I hadn't started shredding yet, I was just gathering all the papers up to do it as they were mostly from 1960, When I talked to my Aunt. She said make sure you look the papers over before you get rid of them. You know it was hearing my Mother telling me to really look. Sure enough I almost got rid of papers that had to do with the houses foudation that I would of needed to sale the house. So, I am glad that you are taking a break.

I have been busy relaxing and sewing - which is relaxing for me - and reading. Now, I am going to get cleaning this weekend to get ready for my son to come to visit for a week. he arrives a week from this Saturday. I can't wait to see him.

Hope everyone is having a great week and have a great weekend also.

Val how great that you get a new co-worker who you get along with really well and he is already trained-big bonus!!!
Gail glad you have had time to relax and just chill out-can I come join you-ha ha! Great your SIL was able to come and help and you found the elusive keys. I thought of you when I was at our RO meeting yesterday. We have a lady in our park who is a hoarder but she lives in a small singlewide trailer and the "stuff" has spilled outside-she has piled her Florida rooms and carport full, her golf cart and her car! The park is trying to do something about it as it truly is a fire danger with all the boxes and even worse, rodents and snakes have been seen. The board has been trying to get her to do something for several years and it has come down to now they will take legal action since the family refuses to step in an do anything. Such a shame as she really needs help.
We have been on the run the past 2 days. Wed I walked at 6 am as I knew I would not get to it later. We went to our weekly Wed breakfast and then back home where DH rested up and I went to the RO meeting. He had an appt with his surgeon at 11:45. They were running late so we didn't get out of there till 12:30. Surgeon was satisfied with his progress especially since he missed a number of therapy sessions shen he was ill. Hopefully when he sees him in another month he will be realeased. After a bite of lunch, we had a little time to relax before he had to go to his PT (at the same place as the dr!) and I went to the gym to get in a workout at the same time. We finally got home about 3:30.
Today was not a lot better. I walked at 6 am again as he had to be at the gastrologist office at 8 am - he did another endoscopy on his but went down further this time. He thought he would be cauterizing some sites, but they were not actively bleeding today so he didn't do that but took some more biopsies of some suspicious areas. We made it home from that just before noon. After making lunch DH slept pretty much all afternoon and I did laundry, made homemade chicken and dumplings, peeled potatoes for later and finally made some phone calls. Don't know if any of you have had this problem, but our phone company, Embarq, suddenly put a $4.76 charge on our phone bill!! I could not figure out why-well, it was to give us access to make long distance calls-not for a call!!! I told them I thought I would just have to get rid of our home phone-I didn't want to pay for something I am not using. Suddenly she could take the charge off and block us from getting it. We do not make long distance calls on our phone-it is free on our cell phone so why would I???? I thing we are going to have to really rethink whether having a home phone is worth the cost.
We have 3 more appointments tomorrow and then I think we can finally chill out!

IT HAS BEEN A GOOD COUPLE OF WEEKS.. WE WERE ABLE TO GET INTO THE POOL THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. THE TEMPS WERE HIGHER THAN NORMAL (80s) BUT THE COOL DOWN IS STARTING TODAY. THE TEMPS WILL BE IN THE UPPER 60s AND MAYBE HIT 70 IN A FEW DAYS. PLUS TODAY IT IS RAINING. WE HAVE NOT HAD MUCH OF THAT. SO THE FARMERS NEED THE RAIN FOR THEIR CROPS.I WENT TO CURVES YESTERDAY AND GOT ON THE SCALE. THE ONE POUND I LOST LAST WEEK IS STILL THERE. BUT I DID NOT LOSE ANYMORE. I GUESS I WILL JUST HAVE TO KEEP PLUGGING AWAY. I ALREADY DRINK A LOT OF WATER BUT I THINK THAT I WILL INCREASE IT.YESTERDAY I MADE A BIG MISTAKE. I TRIED TO LIFT SOME PLATES TO A HIGH SHELF. OF COURSE, SINCE MY ACCIDENT I CANNOT LIFT MY RIGHT ARM ABOVE MY HEAD. I USED BOTH ARMS AND ENDED UP IN SO MUCH PAIN THAT I HAD TO TAKE A PAIN PILL. IT WAS JUST HORRIBLE. SOMETIMES I EVEN AMAZE MYSELF WITH THE SILLY THINGS I DO.

Good Morning:

I couldn't do anything for a few days but read, watch movies and play computer games. But yesterday, my sil came over and helped me clear stuff out and arrange things in a bedroom Vic used to store his things, and I felt so much better. He also found the keys to one of the cabinets in that room and that was great. We had been looking for them forever.
Afterward we went out for lunch. I had iron broiled cod, spinach and cauliflower mashed potatoes. (It tastes like mashed potatoes but it's cauliflower. Ever try it?) When I got home I finished my book. For dinner I had a salad and fruit, so it was a good day food-wise too. Today I'm going to run some errands and start a new book. PRIVATE EYES, by J. Kellerman.

Sending you all hugs,

Gail

Pat, not to worry...I think all of the crazies are at home in bed at 4:45 in the morning when I'm driving to work. They do come out around here every time it rains or snows. 5 drops of water or snowflakes fall from the sky and everyone freaks out and forgets how to drive. My theory is that there are about 5 people in the state who know how to drive on ice and snow...and I don't have a high degree of confidence that the other 4 are on the road when I am. The roads have cleared up pretty well, though there is still ice in the parking lot at my apartment complex. I had to be really careful when I was carrying groceries in from the car today. The last thing I need is to fall and break something. Who would keep Little Kitty warm at night while I was in the hospital?

I had a really good day today, which was quite a refreshing thing. I've got a new coworker, and the really great thing about him is that I don't even have to train him! emoticon He's been working as a float tech for the company and was recently chosen to fill one of our open positions. The other really great thing about him is that we get along really well and work well together. He's even agreed to let me show him my weekly maintenance next week so that when I go on vacation my poor analyzer (really. It kind of stinks.) will get the attention it needs to keep on limping along.

So that's the state of things in my world today. (Also, none of my teeth have fallen out since last week. emoticon ) I hope that you're all staying warm and doing your best to stay healthy. This has been a really nasty (and early) cold and flu season so take your vitamin C and eat lots of chicken soup. See you again tomorrow.

There was much rejoicing!

Sandy glad you are getting plenty of rest. I think that is the key to getting better. I sure have taken it easy more with this than anything in recent times.
Val I hope you don't meet any of the crazies out there. Down here it seems they all come out when it rains. Because we go long periods without rain the roads are really slippery when it does rain.
Gail I am glad you are relaxing and getting to enjoy reading. It helps when we can bury ourselves in a good book and forget our cares for several hours. What a great pastime on a cold, dreary day.
We have been quite busy-DH saw his primary yesterday and his x-ray showed the pneumonia is completely cleared up so that is a relief. His bloodwork didn't get to the dr so don't know what that will show. He has been on an iron supplement so wanted to find out if it had come up. I have been working in the gardens the last two mornings after my walk. I have had help the past 2 days so we accomplished a lot-almost have our gardens in the front of the park cleaned out.
DH had therapy this afternoon and the therapist really put him thru his paces. It was enough that he was aching tonight and we iced him down.
I am excited I got my Fitbit this afternoon so finally I can get an accurate count of my daily steps.
Have a great Wed.

Good Morning;

I contacted an old friend last night and we spoke for a very long time. It was good to reconnect. Have any of you ever done this? Funny how people don't change.

I read a book yesterday, SILENT PARTNER, by Jonathan Kellerman. Today I'll start another, TIME BOMB. It's a good sign when I have enough concentration to read. For the last several days my time has been spent watching old movies or playing computer games. These activities calm me down when I get anxious about working disposing of Victor's stuff. Whatever it takes, right?

It's cold here but sunny, so my mood is fine.

Wishing you all a good day.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

We had snow flurries all day today. It only got to 29 today. It is not as cold as some of you. I hope that all of you are keeping warm.

Pat - I went to bed early last night as I was really tired as I had did too much. So, I am taking it easy.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful week.

I hope you are all feeling better. I got the "bug" around the 23 or December also. I finally was over it during the first week of January. I had taken the flu shot but still was very sick. My hubby did not get the flu shot and he took much longer to get better.

I have been eating much better this month. I have only lost 1 pound but have lost 2" on my thighs.

We got snow today but our high temperature was about 29 and there were plenty of cars on the streets, so the snow all melted off...but it's likely to be nice and icy when I'm driving to work at 4:45 tomorrow morning. emoticon I don't like driving on ice or snow but I know how to do it so I should be okay. The only problem is that only about 5 people in this state know how to drive on ice or snow...and I don't have a high degree of confidence that the other 4 will be on the road when I am. emoticon But all in all, I know that plenty of people up north have it worse than we do so I really should stop complaining. I won't, but I should. emoticon

Got my temporary fake teeth glued back in today. My dentist's assistant told me "I thought that you knew you weren't supposed to eat until we get your real bridge back." If only. I could lose a lot of weight that way, but I'd be a bear to work with because low blood sugar always makes me very grouchy. (That's the nicest way I can think of to put it.) Hopefully only a couple more weeks with the temporary bridge. I'm sure I'll survive.

I think I need to buy a new computer. I really don't want to have to shell out the money, but this computer is trying really hard to die on me. I think it probably has a lot to do with former DH spending so much time on porn sites, but it could also just have to do with planned obsolescence. One way or the other, it's a big pain in the fanny. What were our lives like before they were controlled by our computers? emoticon

Well I'd better shut this piece of junk down and make something to eat for my dinner. Guess I won't be going a couple of weeks without eating. Everyone try to stay warm and have a great day tomorrow.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Morning:

It's 8F right now and the expected high is 22F. It's been like this for the past day or two. Yesterday was a very uninspiring cloudy day.

Last night and all day yesterday was the first time in a few days that I didn't need to take 1-2 doses of ibuprofen for my shoulders or leg. The leg is coming along nicely, and yesterday I felt no pain or discomfort when I did the PT exercise. It's strange, because some days it's almost normal and at other times my leg aches from ankle to hip. Can't wait till I heal completely.

It's supposed to be cold but sunny today and I really don't mind that. I stay in and feel safe and snug. I got a flu shot a couple of months ago, but still want to avoid people. With so much going around and many states hitting epidemic cases, I try to avoid crowds and people with runny noses, sneezing and coughs.

As you might imagine, staying in saves a lot of money. LOL But in any case, my needs are modest and there's nothing much I want to buy. When I do go out I bring things to the thrift shops or stuff to Half Price Books. I sold books and CDs on Saturday and pulled in $50. What they reject I give to the Friends of the Memorial Library for their book sale.

Sending you all hugs and hoping you enjoy the day.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Sandy if you had flu like we did, you are going to be tired for at least a week-10 days. I didn't think we were ever going to feel up to par. I am just now feeling like myself and I got sick on the 23rd of Dec!
Val so many problems with the teeth-aren't they a real pain. I have 4 bridges in my mouth and trying to keep all the rest of my teeth healthy but it is a chore. I go every 4 months to get them cleaned and so far I am doing good with that. Here is hoping that you get those teeth back and soon.
We went to a couple of flea markets with friends today. Had a great time and got a few bargains there. It was a nice day out.
We are still in the 80's and when we do cool down, we are only going to the mid 70's so loving it down here. Wish I could send some warm weather to all of you. However, the long range forecast is for warmer than normal weather in the west in the near future so hang in there, it should be warming up!!!
Pat

Val -I really feel for you as my joints are hurting in this weather so I can image what you must feel if it is even colder there. I will keep my fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes etc. crossed for you that this bridge works for you. emoticon

Starting to feel a little better but, still a little tried. Just taking it easy this weekend.

Hope everyone has a good one!

Sandy, you're having a veritable heat wave compared to us. Our HIGH temperatures aren't supposed to get UP to freezing until Friday. emoticon We only get that kind of cold a time or two in a decade here...and my joints are so not liking it. But oh well, I know that there are folks in this country who've got it worse right now so I'll just wear long pants and socks inside this week...it won't kill me... emoticon

Starting today I'm trying something called oil pulling in the hopes that it will help me to sleep for more than an hour or two at a time. It's kind of yucky, but it will be worth it if it actually works. I'll let you know after I've done it for a week or two. In the meantime, I'm being so darn careful with this temporary bridge of mine because Fixodent was so awful and also because I don't want to have to go to the dentist every day to get the thing re-cemented. I go back to the dentist in about 2 weeks to find out if he's going to be able to make my real fake teeth fit again. I really don't want to have to deal with having another bridge made, mainly because it would mean more weeks of dealing with these temporary fake teeth. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks. emoticon

I have no big exciting plans for this weekend. I'm going to dye my hair again, which is not the most exciting thing I've ever done, and I'm also going to try to restore the system software on my computer, which is one of the biggest pains in the fanny ever. Hopefully it won't be toooo much trouble...guess I'll just have to see how it goes...

Anyway, I hope that the rest of you are staying warm and having a great weekend. Maybe we should all go visit Pat in Florida... emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

We are having very cold weather here in the Northwest. Baby! It's Cold outside! 25 degrees last night and it was 27 this morning at 8:30 AM but felt like 22. It only got up to 38 today for the high. We are not to get above 40 till Wednesday.

Well, our company is here and I feel bad as i am so tired. I do anything and the next day I just want to sleep all day. They are friends of DH so they all went out today and did stuff and I slept. I did do some clean up.

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi everyone-I am trying to Spark a bit this afternoon so I can relax this evening! I got up and walked this morning before taking DH for another blood draw. He stayed in bed since he couldn't eat but got up and got his shower and was waiting on me when I got home about 9:45! His appointment was at 10:15. He will see his primary on Mon and hopefully they will have the lab results to him by then-I had trouble getting an early appointment and he had to fast so did not want an afternoon appointment so here we were the Fri before his appointment on Mon!
When we got back, I decided our car needed washed-it was so filthy and we haven't driven much with all the sickness but the windows were a nightmare and so I got out the hose and bucket and gave it a good scrub and then I wiped it all down with the chamois. I didn't get to the vacuuming but at least the worst of the dirt is off! While I was doing that, I was boiling some eggs to make tuna salad for lunch. I had stopped at the store and picked up a loaf of the stone ground wheat bread and decided tuna would taste good and be good for us! I also picked up a loaf of crusty french bread to have with the vegetable soup I made last evening. I know it is more bread than I need but I do love a piece of it with a bowl of soup!
We went to pick up the cans in our friends house-they set off bug bombs when they left last Fri so now we have that done for them and opened the windows to let it air out a couple of days. They will be home Sunday about noon. I put a container of soup up for them so she won't have to worry about getting to the store and cooking Sunday. He is going in for surgery (prostrate cancer) on Wed so will try to do what I can to help. They were sure here for us when we were so ill so now it is my turn to pay it back to them.
Well, I plan to read some in my book this afternoon-one of my new year's resolutions to take more time to read!!! DH is taking a nap so I will put the soup on to simmer a bit and cozy up in my recliner with my book for an hour or so!
Pat

PS Gail-book that flight and get down here and enjoy some of this Florida sunshine!! That will help you get over SAD! Wish she wasn't so far south - would love to get together if you come. We are in the central part of the state-about 40 min north of Orlando.

Pat, I hope that you all don't catch it. Several around heree have it & Bill seems to get it, get over it & then get it again. He's Can't take most meds so he has to tough it out. So far I've been lucky & not gotten it. I just get really tired & just want to sleep.

Gaie, ever watch Poirot or Miss Marple? I really love them. Really most British movies of that time. Just think, by this time next year you'll be wondering what to do next as you'll have everything finished!

Val, did they give you a time frame for getting this finished? Hope it's soon.

TTF, I had a pen pal in Austrailia for years. She wanted me to come for a visit & offered to pay. The hitch was she wanted me to stay for 6 months. I still had 2 teen agers (I was single at the time) & their dad wouldn't pay child suppore regularly & said he'd get me for "leaving the kids". Needless to say, I never got to make the trip. Besides I'd have lost both my jobs. But she did send me lots of pictures.

The sun's out, the winds blowing & drying up where the rain fell & it's in the 50's. Sunday we're going to have either ice or snow.

Hope everyone has a good & safe day!
