Good Morning;

An English Sparker sent this joke this morning in the aftermath of our presidential elections; you've got to love the English sense of humor.

Enjoy the day.

Gail

A MESSAGE FROM THE QUEEN

To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

In light of your failure in recent years to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. (You should look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary.)

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except North Dakota, which she does not fancy).

Your new Prime Minister, David Cameron, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections.

Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed.

To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

-----------------------

1. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour,' 'favour,' 'labour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise.' Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary').

------------------------

2. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as ''like' and 'you know' is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as U.S. English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take into account the reinstated letter 'u'' and the elimination of '-ize.'

-------------------

3. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.

-----------------

4. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not quite ready to be independent. Guns should only be used for shooting grouse. If you can't sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist, then you're not ready to shoot grouse.

----------------------

5. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler. Although a permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

----------------------

6. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left side with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

--------------------

7. The former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline) of roughly $10/US gallon. Get used to it.

-------------------

8. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.

-------------------

9. The cold, tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. South African beer is also acceptable, as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of the British Commonwealth - see what it did for them. American brands will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine, so that all can be sold without risk of further confusion.

---------------------

10. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie Macdowell attempt English dialect in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.

---------------------

11. You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancies).

---------------------

12. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries.

--------------------

13.. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad.

-----------------

14. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776).

---------------

15. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 p.m. with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season.

God Save the Queen!

Enjoy each day.

Good Morning:

Well, we didn't quite get the storage unit cleared out yesterday but it could get done within the next two weeks. I hope so. Val and Pat you are both right. I let go of the loss almost from the get-go. It's water under the bridge. Getting rid of clutter is in the forefront. Right now my living room is filled with boxes and my basement and garage are still stuffed. At least the other rooms are airy and un-cramped. When I get rid of most of the stuff on the main floor I'll redecorate. I've wonderful friends and family helping and that support is priceless.

Wishing you all a happy Sunday.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Sandy I am sure what the realtor told you about selling quickly sure made you feel like all this work has been well worth it. Keep us posted and will say a prayer that it does move right away.
Gail I am glad you made so much headway today and it sounds like you will soon have this storage unit emptied too. I just know that will be a relief for you. I am sad that you were left to deal with all of this. Things like what you are dealing with is why people need to be prepared for death. I know we still have to pay for our creamation-we have come to this decision after having to ship my dad back to Ill for burial. It was very expensive and I am sure it won't get any cheaper. It will make things easier for the kids and neither of us want to be buried down here but don't want to spend big bucks to be shipped home so-they can just bury our ashes. I have a quandry-I have a cemetery plot with DH #1 already-we were married almost 22 years and he is the father of my sons. DH #2 and I will be married 22 years the 25th. The kids wanted to know what to do about burying us-should I make it easy on my sons and be buried by their father or what? May just let them decide and not worry about it!
I had a great time today-went to some community yard sales with 2 other couples and then out for lunch. We always have a great time when we are together.
I should have been home cleaning house but .....didn't - needed some fun time too. Guess I will get up early and do a quick once over-I keep things picked up, just need to dust and mop the kitchen as we are having company tomorrow afternoon.

Gail, I've been getting up at 3:15 in the morning for so long that I can no longer sleep in when I don't have to get up to go to work. Well, I can sort of do it...just as long as I don't try to sleep past 5:00. emoticon Even when I'm completely exhausted I just can't sleep later than 5:00. What works for me is to get up for an hour or so, eat a bowl of cereal or drink a cup of decaf coffee, and then go back to bed. (The coffee is not the best idea because then I'll have to get back up to use the bathroom.) I don't know why I have to get up for a while in order to be able to go back to sleep, but that's how it works for me. Maybe it will work for you, too.

You know, even if you're getting very little money by selling Vic's stuff, at least you're getting rid of some of the clutter and going forward you're going to be better off financially because you're not paying for those two storage sheds every monty. I don't know how much any of that helps right now, but it is getting you closer to the simplicity I know you want to have in your life. Keep at it and the peace of mind you gain will be more than worth the money that has been lost. (I know that was the case for me after my divorce was final. I'm saving money by not having my former DH around, but the peace of mind is worth a LOT more than that.)

There was much rejoicing!

Good Evening:

Well, I think one more trip to the storage facility will clear it out....I hope. This woman who is helping me is a master at organization. She works fast and can store things so efficiently to maximize the use of space. To boot, she's an angel.

I just got back from HALF PRICE BOOKS. I've been bringing many books and DVDs there for several weeks now. Today I got $140 for Vic's stuff. I know it sounds like a lot, but as much as I get it doesn't approach what I need to pay the lawyer, the rest of the funeral expenses and the headstone. I haven't even started looking at headstones, but I've got time on that.

I keep getting up at 4am and I'm not sure how to stop that. Any suggestions? Today I went to exercise and was feeling fine after a 4 day hiatus, but when I got off the elliptical cross-trainer my left knee buckled. I've been limping about all day. Perhaps I pulled a muscle.

Enjoy the weekend and be good to yourselves.

Gail

Sandy: So glad things are going your way with the sale of the house.

Enjoy each day.

Thank you everyone. We are so happy and pleased. We got to sleep in today and we were very happy. Tonight we are having dinner with our son and tomorrow we see the family for a lunch. Monday we leave. Glad we got it all done. Everyone including the Realtors are saying it is going to sell fast as it looks so nice.

Welcome Amy to the Team!

Well, the November Challenge is up and I hope everyone joins in. There are 3 to pick from so I made it a little fun. Hope everyone is having a wonderful 3 day weekend. My love to all of you.

Sandy that is great that you managed to get all that done and at a bargain price. emoticon

Gail you must be feeling great with getting more and more "stuff" out of your life. I hope that your friend, her daughter and you will be able to get the other storage unit emptied out and that will be a savings to you. We have always thought it isn't the big items where we get into trouble, it is the little items that add up over time. That is where we can save big time.

I walked at 6:45 this morning and it was quite nippy out there. However, by 10 it warmed up nicely and by afternoon it got warm enough to move into capris. I worked planting pansies and doing other needed things in the park gardens from 10 till after 2. I took a break and read the newspapers and then went back and worked another hour and got most of the area by the office and clubhouse planted. Just 3 more big bed to do and several smaller ones.

I didn't sleep well last night so hoping tonite is better since I will be up early again tomorrow to head out to some community yard sales.

Nite

Gail - That must be a really relief to you to have empty out the storage and got rid of all of that. You have done such a great job.

Well, I got everything done at the house for next to nothing. We found an amazing guy that did all the work that would have cost me over $ 6000.00 for only $2000.00. We found out the gate we had to replace usually cost about $ 2000.00 to replace only cost us $ 100.00. A lot of the work we did ourselves but, other things we had someone else do. We are really happy with the way everything came out and worked out. We have even been able to see the family and our son. We are leaving Monday for home. We both are really tired.

I have put a challenge up for Thanksgivings. I hope everyone joins in. Have a great weekend everyone.

Good Evening:

I've great news. Today I sold my new snow-blower and new lawn mower to the same man. He'll pick it up on Saturday. What a break! My friend and her daughter will be coming over Saturday to help clear out the second storage unit and she thinks it will be cleared before the end of the day. OMG...I hope so. That's $107/ month more in my pocket. That's right; we were paying $214/month to store empty boxes, outdated computer stuff and boxes of junk. We cleared the first storage unit the end of Oct. and what a relief that was.

Feeling very good, but haven't exercised since Monday. I've been working my duff off getting rid of stuff. Yesterday I dropped off stuff at Easter Seals and brought yet another load today. Also, today I brought 9 boxes of stuff to Hospice. You cannot imagine.

Take care all and enjoy the quiet...no more political stuff.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

I'm also glad the election is over. We went at 10:00 am as that's when there's the least ammount of people. This time the line was all the way to the exit door! I heard that more people voted this year than in years. I just wished they'd pass a law that they had to tell the truth on anything they put out on those running for office. As it was no one should have been elected! Now if they'll just put America first & work together.

Today the sun came out for the first time this week. It's been grey, dreary ,cold & wet. The winds still strong but there's still leaves on the trees. I need to put some leaves in the blueberry beds & the rest on the garden. Maybe tomorrow.

Everyone around us is sick. One lady thought she had poison ivy but turns out to be shingles. She says they're very painful.

Hope everyone has a good & safe day!

I agree with all of you-Thank God the ads are finally done and we can all relax and get back to our everyday life!
DH & I went to breakfast with our Wed group this morning. So glad he is feeling good enough to get out some. After we got home, he had PT with the therapist and then the nurse came and then it was time to see the gastro dr to get the results of his tests. Results were mixed-no cancer, but still not sure what is causing his tummy problems so now doing test for celiac disease-I have to schedule a time with Quest for the bloodwork and once he is out of the sling he wants him to swallow the pill cam. Hopefully one or the other will give us some answers. He has lost 10 lbs in just under 2 wks. 5 he lost during the prep for the colonoscopy and another 5 since surgery. I am the one dieting and he is the one losing! Something is wrong with the picture. I have to work hard for every pound I lose and he is doing it without trying.
Not a warm fuzzy feeling.

I'm absolutely thrilled that the election is fiiiiiinally over. I'll have to admit that I'm not entirely thrilled with the outcome, but then I really would not have been thrilled if it went the other way, either. Both candidates really suck and I'm very disappointed that we can't come up with anyone better than Obama and Romney to run for the highest office in the land. Oh well, at least it's over. Now we can all get on with our lives.

I think that's all I have to say at the moment, or at least all I feel like saying right now. I hope that you're all recovering from the endless election. Have a great day tomorrow...and take the time to realize how happy you are to be able to turn on the TV without seeing political ads for the first time in a long time. emoticon I'll talk to you all soon.

Good afternoon everyone. I hope that you're all doing well. I had a perfectly awful day at work...but then those are the kind that go by the fastest. You walk in at 5:00 in the morning and hit the ground running, and then you look up at the clock and it's 10:00 and you're wishing that you could stop and eat some of your lunch, which you manage to eat around noon...and then you look up again and it's time to go home. I wouldn't want every day to be like today, but at least it went by quickly.

I've got to say that I'm anxiously waiting for this election to be over with, hopefully before the end of the year. Before today there has only been one other time when I was actually glad that my late husband wasn't around to see what was going on...and that was exactly 4 years ago. Randy was a political animal and he would have been driving me crazy yelling at the TV day and night, both this time and last time around. I would give anything in this world to have him back...but I'd really like to be able to put him in cold storage for a few months around each election... emoticon

Gail, bless you for spending the time to be a poll worker. Regardless of how people vote, it is such an important obligation for each and every one of us and I admire and appreciate you for donating your time to work at the polls. I have a dear friend who goes door to door to talk to people and get them out to vote and I appreciate her, too. (By the time I'm doing with work every day I don't have the energy to do that sort of thing so I appreciate people who do.)

This evening I'm going to make soup while I listen to some of the election returns on the TV. I was going to do it this weekend but then I decided that all the chopping and such would be a nice mindless thing to do while I'm listening to the TV tonight. I hope that you all have a good evening and a wonderful Wednesday.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Afternoon:

Taking a break at the polls. Working 6am-9:30pm. Lots of turnout. About 50% of eligible voters in this ward already voted so far.

Please try to vote everyone. Every vote counts.

Good Evening-So much going on. I hope all of you have had a chance to vote or will be able to tomorrow-no matter who you are for, exercise your right to have a say in our government.

DH got out for the 1st time today-he had to go for bloodwork and then sat in the car while I ran a couple of errands. He did really good all things considered. Next trip out Wed.

Hi everyone! We're still settling into our new house and living in Michigan. We love it here, but there's a lot going on with little stuff for the house, just getting used to living in a house again after years in apartments or condos, etc. I'm enjoying the lower prices in Michigan, but I'm still looking for the best savings and quality for the money.

A lot of travel this month: we're going to Frankenmuth tomorrow for a couple of days, then the following week we're traveling down to Charlottesville, VA to see our college GS, then it's Thanksgiving week!

Have a good day!

I am a licensed insurance agent and I used to be a chief health planner for the state of Wisconsin. I know the Medicare law very well. Your friend's aunt was not dropped from Medicare. Medicare (T19) will not pay for nursing home care if there is no improvement after 5 weeks. This has always been the law, always. Medicare was not designed to pay for long term care (nursing home care). That is why the insurance industry sells Long Term Care Insurance. If your friend's aunt is indigent, she will be eligible for Medicaid and Medicaid will cover her nursing home care.

Harplute

Enjoy each day.

Pray for our Nation emoticon and for all Americans emoticon to VOTE as if your life depends upon it because it does!
I heard from a friend last night who shared- in his own words, “I gots a better one for you. My darling wife's aunt was just dropped from Medicare. Yup that's correct she is 81 years old in a nursing home in Reno Nevada and Medicare notified the home that she had "not passed" the "5 week improvement assessment". So she is no longer eligible for medicare! Obama care strikes out at seniors.”

So, the renter is not getting any of his deposit back at all. The gate to the back yard has to be replace due to dog jumping on it and all the furniture he took. He talked to DH and said he gave the patio furniture to his buddy.

This place is so crazy. Today we saw a guy driving down the street with the gas nozzle still in his gas tank flopping as he drove down the street, My BIL said that is normal and it happens all the time. Then we saw a guy driving down the street with his hatch back open for no reason at all speeding down the street. We really can't wait to get back to the Northwest and to normal. It has been wonderful to see friends, family, and our son. But, the people in San Diego are crazy and weather is way too hot for us. It was 92 today.

We are almost done. We have the woodworker that will come tomorrow to work on the gate and fence that the renters dog damage. Then Tuesday the maid comes and Wednesday the carpet cleaner comes. Then we can spend time with family and then home.

Linda I woke up to the same fog you were in and it felt like I was walking in soup until the sun came out and burned it off. It warmed up nicely here too, enough that I went to the pool for an hour this afternoon.
DH is doing so well-I am amazed at how good he is doing. He hasn't had a pain pill since just before therapy Fri. Today he even drove our golf cart-maybe life will get back to normal in a few weeks. Now if we can just get him well enough to do dishes and help with the housework, ha ha!
Have a great week.

Good Evening:

Hope everyone is doing fine. I'm trying to move at a slower pace with all the stuff I've got to eliminate from my life. This morning I went through a box from Vic's parents' apartment and found old clothes...cheap stuff. They were in good condition so I donated them but the styles go back to the 1970's. Maybe someone will be happy to have a warm coat.

On the bright side I put a vintage Santa PEZ dispenser and it sold for $81. I'll be mailing it out tomorrow. That's my biggest problem. I never know when there will be a gem amidst the junk.

I was ill yesterday (chills and nausea) so I slept all day. Today I was a new person. I read my first Ruth Rendell mystery and enjoyed it. Any of you familiar with her work.

Take care and be well everyone.

Gail

Sandy: Sounds like things are going very well for you. It does my heart good.

Val: Hope everything works out well with that analyzer. As for voting, I could vote where I work the polls on Tuesday, but I voted absentee this time a few weeks ago. If you read my blog yesterday you know I'm disgusted with all the robocalls and political ads on TV. Imagine what our country could do with all the money spent on campaigns.

Enjoy each day.

I agree about voting. emoticon It is such a privilege. In saying that, I really will be relieved when the election is over. The commercials and the rallies begin so early and by election day, we are ready for the outcome.

I slept in a bit this morning but still made it to church. We had some "sea fog" and it was dreary early. When I came out of church it was nice and sunny. So it was a good day to take a short walk. Unfortunately, I ended up with an upset stomach. I didn't accomplish anything but I just haven't felt well. blah!

I agree. No matter which side of the fence you're on, voting is the most important duty you have for your country. If you don't vote then you have no right to complain if/when the people in Washington do something that you don't like. (And you know that sooner or laster they're gonna do something that ticks you off...) I went to an early voting site on Wednesday. I love my country. I will always vote. But I'm over spending 2 or 3 hours in a line waiting to vote on election day itself.

The rest of my work week was kind of stressful. The analyzer I'm in charge of was just a real pain in the hind end all week and service was in to work on it for the 3rd time in 2 weeks when I left work on Friday. If the problem didn't get fixed on Friday, the next step will mean a lot of work and stress for me so I'm really hoping that it's working correctly now. (We've got a backup that used to be mine, too, but it takes a lot of extra work.)

I can't remember if I've told you guys, but my 34 year old coworker who's got a stage 4 cancer that has spread to her liver came in to pick up some things and visit on Wednesday or Thursday. She looked really good and we had a really nice visit with her. They switched her to a different chemo drug and this one will apparently not cause her to lose her hair. (In all of this, that was the thing that she was most worried about. emoticon ) She's getting chemo every other Monday and she said that by the end of that week she feels pretty good. I just keep on praying that she'll come out of this okay in the end.

Well I have no more news at the moment. I hope that the next week is a good one for everyone, especially for any of you who have been affected by the superstorm. Stay warm and stay safe.

There was much rejoicing!

It is important for everyone to VOTE because November 6, 2012 will be the most important date that will affect the rest of your life. The Choice is Yours...never in the history of our country have so many issues that strike at the very core of being an American and our freedoms of religion, free speech , protecting the family, etc been brought to the foreground as this year!
So many jobs being given to China coupled with our high unemployment rate, SEE ABC NEWS LINK BELOW, our national debt , our insurance and low interest rates on our savings...these are issues that effect every American...Medicare Insurance premiums will increase ...this is a provision incorporated in the Obamacare Legislation delayed until after election. Check this out with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Be informed and vote your conscious....Remember if you don't vote for something on the ballot it is counted as a No vote.

Hi all,

The internet service at the hotel is really slow so it has been very hard for me to get on. Things have been going well. The renter took all the patio furniture, bistro set and dining room table and large potted plant that I have left for him to use. HD and I just started laughing. We have gotten everything done expect for having the carpet cleaned and the house cleaned. And some woodwork. We will be leaving here a next Saturday. It has been very hot here. Not what we are use to.

Hope everyone is doing well. I will be putting posting Challenges for November next week when I get home and have more time. Love to all of you. emoticon emoticon

I had a good day. I got into the pool for exercise and also a short walk. We decided to go out to dinner but I did not eat all of my food, brought some home in a box for tomorrow. I am getting very anxious for the election season to be over. Only a few days left.

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Remember to set back your clocks.

Gail that is so sad to hear about your friend. Will add her to my prayer list. It just keeps growing but we can all do that for each other and it doesn't cost us a dime. My walking in the morning is my prayer time-great time to commune while I am out walking and seeing all the Lord has given to us. Watching the eagles soar over our lake is such a beautiful sight.

We are back in the warm temps again-but DH is cold (he wears the cold jacket to keep the swelling down in his shoulder) and I am hot. He covers up and I turn on the fan-no pleasing us.

I missed being able to go out to the community yard sales today but it was also nice to just chill for a change. I even had time to sit and read the novel I have been reading for a couple weeks. If I can keep at it, I might be done in another few days.

Good Evening:

I was freezing this morning and just couldn't get warm until I exercised at the gym. Afterward I was going to run errands, but at my first stop I got very nauseous so I headed directly home. I've been sleeping all afternoon and finally a bit feel better. I just did my PT pulley exercise so I'm good on that score.

My friend Celeste called this morning. The pet scan showed some shadow and it may be the spread of the cancer. It's not clear. But right now her problem is she cannot eat, has been bleeding, and is afraid her colitis is back. That poor woman. She is absolutely miserable and told me she doesn't want to go on fighting. To make matters worse, she recently moved to Long Island, NY and the power has been off in her condo since hurricane Sandy struck. She and her husband are forking out $200/day in a terrible hotel in Brooklyn. Things work only intermittently and she and her husband are very uncomfortable. They didn't have much of a choice as to where to stay since so many of the rooms in the 5 boroughs of NYC were booked for those participating in the marathon. I worry about her, and the way things are going don't believe we will ever see each other again. She doesn't want me to come till she feels better and that probably won't happen. It's so sad.

Hope you are all keeping well,

Gail

Pat: So glad to hear that Bill is doing better and that he has friends around to keep him company. On another matter, my hat goes off to you for taking care of yourself in your efforts to get your blood sugar down.

Sandy: If it is possible, do keep us up to date on how you are doing.

Enjoy each day.

emoticon a chilly Saturday...time to start gearing up for the holidays. I share, recycle and save my shekels & watch my pennies in this economy and then I read about how work projects in America are being taken away from us.

I have read and seen video about a lot of the bridges to be reworked in the US and they are going to be worked on by Chinese workers from a Chinese company....Obama okayed this…so there go thousands of jobs for Americans and money not spent in America to help our economy! We are talking billions here...

Yes Gail I am following the dr's orders! She put me on the Dukan Diet since my blood sugar was 125 fasting and she wanted me to lose weight and hopefully we can get me out of danger of becoming a diabetic.
Sandy I hope things are proceeding with the sale of your home without any snafus. How long do you anticipate being in California?
DH is doing better every day. He has gotten to sit outside the last 2 days for a couple of hours and had lots of company to visit with. We so far haven't fallen into a routine but hopefully we will soon.
Gail are you relaxing and taking a break from cleaning things out? I hope you have been able to relax and take a few breaths and realize how much you have accomplished.

My heart goes out to all who have been devastated by Sandy. I cannot begin to imagine all they are going through. Has anyone on this team been in the path of the hurricane?

Pat: I cannot believe you dropped 15 lbs in a month. Are you under a doctor's care for this? How is Bill doing?

Val: I know what you mean about not sleeping well. I've been in a whirlwind and have not slept well either.

Sandy: So glad you arrived safely. Where will you be staying? How is the weather in CA?

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Gail

Start of another month. I ended October feeling like I did very well on my diet-I am down 15 lbs. I think it is only human to hope for more but that is a reasonable amount so I am content and will continue with my diet for another month. This is a long term committment and every day presents another challenge. Today a friend who we hadn't seen in about 6 yrs came to visit DH and brought donuts. One of those doggone chocolate long johns has been calling my name but if it isn't careful, it is going into the garbage disposal-then see how loud it calls. emoticon

Last night was the first night all week that I got a decent night's sleep. The rest of the week I got myself out of bed, got my morning stuff done, made it to work 4 or 5 minutes late but was good to go once I had a cup of coffee. This morning I had a heck of a time dragging my fanny out of bed, had trouble getting my morning stuff done but made it to work on time....and then just had one heck of a time waking all the way up even after I had a cup of coffee. I don't know what the heck was up...but maybe I should stop trying so hard to get a decent night's sleep. emoticon

I was having a decent day and getting a lot done...even though the analyzer I'm in charge of has been acting up all week long. I got people to sign a card I'd gotten for the coworker I told you about who has stage 4 cancer that has metastacized to her liver. I was signing it myself...when that very coworker walked in for a visit and to pick up something or other! She looked great, which is really not what I was expecting from a young woman who's getting chemo every 2 weeks. She visited with us for about half an hour and those of us who were there at the time really enjoyed it. She's hoping to come back and work half days, maybe by the end of the month. I hope that she's able to do that, as long as she can do it without pushing herself too hard. (Surprisingly, she would rather be at work than be at home feeling sick from her chemo... emoticon )

So that's about it from my corner of the world today. I really hope that all of our members who have been affected by the mother of all awful storms are doing okay, getting their electricity back and staying warm. Please band together to take care of your loved ones and neighbors until we get to the point where the help you need can get to you. It's easy for me to say from my kitchen in an unaffected part of the country, but we're all in this together and the rest of us are going to do our best to help you through all of this. Lots and lots of prayers are coming your way.

I need to find a way to get back on track this month. I've been slacking off for a while and it's got to stop. The only problem is that I'm not always very good at being strict with myself. emoticon But hopefully it will be easier once all of the Halloween candy and cookies and such are no longer everywhere...or maybe it will just get hard again with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up...Wish me luck. My goals for the month are to continue to stay on track on my diet-I hope to lose another 5-10 lbs this month. I don't want to put pressure on myself to lose really fast, just a steady loss!

Early it is! Well, I really need to get on the ball and work at exercising on a regular schedule and not just use the elliptical, but to use the free weights as well. I just read a tip yesterday that someone posted, stating that she/he looks at this whole thing as a job. Just something that needs to be done every day. Sounds like a plan to me.

I also need to sit down and work on my Christmas presents. I make a lot, so I need to do a little work every day in order to get what I want do, done. Not that I'm making a lot, but still, to get them done, I need to do something every day so I don't feel rushed or stressed.

Laurie

There was much rejoicing!
