Good Morning:

I've got some pillows that should be recovered. It's been ages since I sewed and it seems like a giant effort at this time to get restarted. I'm going to see if there is someone in the TimeBank who will do this for me.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

You sound like Crystal Gail - remember her?
But she wears falls or something because her hair is thin. It is funny. During Christmas break when I had my granddaughter, I took her to a museum that had a Crystal Gail display. She grew up in Indiana. Anyway, my granddaughter was fascinated.
But, I wouldn't want to deal with all it takes to care for it. I have kept my hair short for over ten years.

There were some new lupus drugs released about the same time. My dtr who has that diagnosis was told by her doctor that he didn't want to prescribe it until a report on how the first year of prescribing it after it was released by the FDA came out. Your doctor may have an opinion on that too.

SRIVERS1
Thanks for the reminder. I have been meaning to get back to welcoming new people. I think I have only welcomed one this year. There are often many newbies this time of year that only last until January 2nd. So, I concentrate on those that huddle & post on the team. Also, if we look at the team bloggers, it will flag the ones who are first time bloggers. All of us who chat can help with this.

Darla
I chuckled at your story about naming the kids Peanut. We are so thrilled about this baby. Peanut has been wanted for a long time.

Penny
You ought to have strong muscles. emoticon I hope we get to go blueberry picking next summer.

Emmie
I love your list of goals. I like it that it includes so much more than your weight. emoticon

Gail,
Thanks for the message.

Kurt,
Our days have been cloudy more than sunny. Hope you are still taking your dog on walks.

emoticon Yesterday, I had some fun time , but also some unpleasant news. My best friend from elementary school & I went out for a mid-afternoon lunch at Applebees. It probably made me go over calories - I don't know how to figure them. We had a lunch special. I had a half of a Corned Beef sandwich - which probably wasn't too bad. I also had tomato basil soup, which was delicious, but probably had loads of hidden calories.

The unpleasant part was that I am being told to reduce my walking and start using a cane. My physical therapist did work with me on some alternatives. Such as a recumbent bike. I have found this overwhelming. I wanted to walk the dog - but I am suppose to reduce my pace and not walk as far as I took the dog. The dog does love it when I brush her, so I guess that will be my special time with the dog.

I didn't cut my hair at all for 15 or 20 years. I really wanted to have it get long enough to be able to sit on it...just one time...but my hair won't grow past the middle of my back.emoticon Now I like to have it short because I can actually make it look good (or at least decent) without a lot of trouble. I really like for everything in my life to be cheap and very little trouble. (Yeah, I'll admit it...I've gotten old and lazy.emoticon)

I've heard a little bit about these new MS drugs but I don't really know a whole lot about them. I'm going to see my neurologist in a month or two and I'll ask her about them. MS is another area where I like as little trouble as possible. I'm not big on drama.

I'm not sure why, but suddenly I'm just falling asleep at my computer. If I have anything important to say then I'll just say it tomorrow. Good night, all.

There was much rejoicing!

Just wanted to stop by and say Welcome to all our New members. With the New year we have a few New Members. I hope everyone gets a chance to stop by & say Hello to the New members.

Sixty - It's always good to see you in the chats.

Vali - I went from long hair to short and I love it. I am sure it looks good on you. The picture you have up now, the cut looks so cute on you. So, the new cut has to look really good.

Kurt - You always have some great ideas and are so helpful with your links. RA is Rheumatoid Arthritis. RA effects the joints and some times causes deformed joints. It effects the shoulders, wrist and hands. The worse part, for me, is my right side right now. I have spasms some times that are very painful and causes my fingers to turn under. I had since a 2 doctors in California and the both say that I need to massage and stretch the hand out. I have like a knot in the middle of the right hand and it is causing my hand to curl up. So, now I am seeing a third doctor here in Seattle and she is wanting to run test. I hope that helps explain RA.

Hope very one is having a great start to the year!

Happy Friday Everyone!
Sounds like everyone has all kinds of things going on and everyone is working on their goals. I want to be able to read 100 books this year too and have to get busy! I am almost done with one of them that I got for Christmas.

Vali- I am sure your hair looks cute! I have had mine short and long. My Mom thought since I was older it should be short but I think it looks better long and so does my daughter. I don';t think age has anything to do with whehter it should be short or long. Some people look better with it short and some with it long. But I like your picture and I am sure it looks really cute on you!

Linda- I am so glad the baby is doing so well. I will keep her in my prayers that she continues to carry the baby full term. We called Maddie Peanut before she was born and we still call her that! It was my son';s nickname for her! We reallly like Jeff Dunham the comedian ventriliquiist and he has a really funny puppet named Peanut and he is our favorite!

I go home Sunday so just a few more days here. I came Dec. 21 so I am kind of ready to go back home. I get pretty tired being around Maddie all the time. she has more energy than I do! lol I really have to get this weight off so I can keep up with her! lol

It was the warmest on record, for that date, yesterday. We got the wash hung out to dry, all the water containers cleaned out & refilled & the Pampas grass cut down. We had enough to fill the goose house, the duck house & the blackberry bed. Next spring we'll transplant some & give the rest away. That'll make more room for the blueberry bushes. Today isn't as warm but it's still nice but, for some reason, I just don't have any energy at all. Bill got the shelf cut & he'll put it in tomorrow.

Hope the changes they say's coming prove to be good ones for us all. 2011 was really bad for more than a few reasons.

Kurt, hope that you find a really good job with regular hours this year,

V. do you prefere shourt hair? I bet it is cute.

Hope eveyone has a good & safe day! emoticon

Good morning team. I have been missing in action at least one day.

Got good news last night. I think I share about a month ago that my daughter was pregnant, but we were concerned because she has a history of miscarriage. She finally had an ultrasound yesterday afternoon and the baby appears to be healthy. Due in August. The 8 year old sister is calling the baby peanut because s/he looks like a little peanut with arms and legs on the ultrasound. Everybody is thrilled.

I will try not to be a stranger this weekend. emoticon

Val: Vic and I watched the national news this evening and Diane Sawyer did a piece on the huge breakthrough in treating MS. They have just approved drugs that can reverse the damage. Please look into it. I understand the FDA just approved several drugs and three more are on the docket for approval.

Kurt, RA is rheumatoid arthritis. Luckily I don't have it, but I know a lot about it because it is very closely related to MS. I've had a few friends who've had it and it's nasty stuff.

It didn't get colder here today. In fact, it was a whopping 33 degrees when I left for work this morning...I started getting worried about global warming with this heat wave.emoticon

I got my hair cut this afternoon. It's shorter than it's been in quite a while...and I no longer have a husband to take a picture of it so that everyone can see it. So you'll all just have to take my word for the fact that it looks pretty cute.

My mom and I are going to go to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show early next month and I got my plane tickets this afternoon. Southwest has fares (can't remember what they call them) for $49 one way and that's what I almost always get. I got non stop flighs both ways, but they also had 3 flighs from ABQ to Tucson that had a stop in California "on the way!" Why in the world would anyone want to go twice as far and then turn around and come halfway back?? My mom and I laughed about that over the phone. On the way home I could have stopped in Denver, which makes a little more sense...but why bother when a non-stop flight from ABQ to Tucson only takes an hour and ten minutes? (And costs the same.) I'm just quite amused by the fact that someone thinks these flights are a good idea.emoticon

I'm really, really glad that tomorrow is Friday and I don't have to work this weekend. The kitties and I are going to catch up on our sleep. (Poor Muffin Kitty is so tired that she's asleep standing up on my cable modem right now.) I hope you all have a fabulous Friday.

There was much rejoicing!

SRIVERS1:
What is RA?

VALI:
NYC weather is warming up again -- is it getting colder where you are?
It was "unseasonably warm" today (according to the radio, I slept most of the day), and it will get much warmer on the weekend.

I only have an evening class right now, and I'm not getting much sleep during normal evening hours, so I don't see much of the day.
So far, the New Year isn't much of an improvement over last year.

Been busy getting ready for our son to come in. He had to work so had to move the dates. So, he will be here on the 10th of January. We leave to go skiing on the 11th. It is close by but decided to get a cabin for two days instead of driving 2 hrs up and 2 hrs back. It's a Mt. that we have not ski before and have wanted to.

I have a doctors appt. next month as I believe I have RA. My hands have been getting worse. At this time it is only in my hands. Some of the symptoms - Fatigue, soreness, stiffness and aching, particularly in the morning and afternoon, Low-grade fever and sweats,Weakness and loss of mobility. I get night sweats due to Menopause too. But, I do have trouble sleeping due to pain in my hands and lower back. So, I will have test done next week to be sure.

I keep my hands and body active as much as I can even if I am in pain. I take 2 Aleve a day. That helps for the day. I don't want to so down or allow it to interfere with my every day doings. I have worked very hard to keep my self busy and active and this is not going to stop me. It will be a challenge but, life is all about challenges and is one that I will meet head on. I will keep my spirits up and keep going.

Wishing very one a very happy and wonderful week and new beginning to a great New Year.

Hello Friends,
I called Medicare last night and I do still have coverage so I called in my Bipolar meds and they filled them here. Cindy paid for them and Erin will pay her back today when she gets paid. So I was able to take the right dosage last night and feel great today! I have Medicare and Medicare part D for my prescritions and they are much cheaper like that. The first check starting back takes a long time I just did not expect it to take this long. I will get a check on the 3rd of every month and it is direct deposited so I just keep calling my bank to see it if it in yet. I called SS and they have sent me a letter she read that I will get $304 and then my monthly check will be $766 which is more than I thought it would be. Then I can make $1000 gross or less at a part time job and still keep my check. Social Services does not pay well and the most I could make right now full time is $24000 and by the time they take out taxes and my insure and my medicsations would be $400 a month verses $52 now then it really seems smarter to just stay on disability. Plus it would be a lot less stressful to work part time than it is to work full time. I regret now I went back to get my Masters. It will take me forever to pay off my student loans! Maddie is at preschool today and it is so quiet here! she needed to go and play with her friends though. she had twin friends that lived here but they moved to Wisconsin so now all she has is her school friends. But it is good for her to get use to going to school and she will have to go all day every day in a few years. It is nice here. About 70 degrees! I hate that some of you are having those cold winters. It is like that in Oklahoma and I sure don't miss that kind of cold! I think San Antonio is pretty mild too. It does get cold in San Antonio but they have not had snow in 12 years! My electricity would go off in Oklahoma and ruin everything in my refrigerator so I am glad I won';t ever have to deal with that again! Hope everyone has a good day! Darla

I got up early & did the wash as it's supposed to get into the high 50's today ( 60's tomorrow) before dropping back to the low 40's on Saturday. I really like the smell of clothes dried on the line besides it really cutting down the electric bill using the dryer. Later today we're cutting down the tall grasses & putting it in the duck house.

Just wished winter would get here & get over with. I'm ready for spring.

Hope everyone has a good & safe day!emoticon

Here's the link I sent Kurt on the Neti Pot. BTW, my PA allergist also suggested using boiled or distilled water since other bacteria can get into the tap water.

I was kidding, too. I thought it was amusing that your weather started to get warm just as our temperatures dropped.

HarpLute sent me a link about that deadly amoeba last week.
Hopefully she'll see this and post it for us because I've forgotten where it is.

If anyone hasn't heard about this situation:
if you use a neti pot with tap water that hasn't been boiled and filtered, you risk death from an amoeba that invades the brain. The amoeba is OK when taken internally by mouth, but not through the nose.

Oh Darla, I hope that you get that darn check soon. You need to have your meds. Just for the record, I always refill my prescriptions a few days early so I'll have extras in case I can't get them on time one month. My insurance will pay for a 30 day presctption every 24 days so I get 6 extra pills each month. You should ask your pharmacy how it works with your insurance or Medicare and try to save up a few extra pills in case your check is delayed again sometime in the future.

Gail, thanks for that list of tips. I think I'll be able to put some of them to good use.emoticon

Kurt, let's be clear now...I never actually wished cold, awful weather on you. I was just very envious of you when I was having it and you were having a nice warm New Mexico type of winter. We're still having cold nights, down below 20 degrees again. (Actually, it was 13 degrees when I left for work this morning.) But we're having pretty nice afternoon temperatures. I wish I could send you some of our afternoon temperatures. I fixed the zipper pull on my leather jacket today so tomorrow I should actually be able to zip it up and stay warmish. Now I won't have to use either the Dillard's or Macy's gift cards that I got for Christmas to buy another jacket...AND I'll be able to keep on wearing my favorite jacket for a while longer.

I got to work on time again today. Second day in a row, been quite a while since I managed that feat. (Luckily my boss doesn't really seem to care that I'm 10 or 15 minutes late almost every morning. Probably because I get so much done at work before 7:00 in the morning, even when I'm late.) Everyone at work is all upset about this buy out thing. Personally, I'm not going to worry about it and I'm not going to spend too much time trying to divine what's going to happen before the new company lets us know what they have planned. People keep asking me do I think this is going to happen, or do I think that they're going to do that. Well how in the world would I know? I'm Super Tech (really, that's my nickname) but I'm not psychic. Someone from the company is supposed to come tomorrow to answer our questions, guess I'd better take notes because people are going to be asking me what was said...even though they'll have been in the same meeting that I'll be in tomorrow. (Apparently Super Tech is a very important community leader as far as her coworkers are concerned because most of my coworkers seem to think that I always know what's going on. I should make up some rumors and see how many people believe them...)

For those of you who are using neti pots, I read an article from Dr. Mercola (a natural health care doctor I really trust) about how using tap water in your neti pot, especially in warmer states, can cause you to be infected with an amoeba that can then get into your brain and kill you. Two women were killed by this amoeba. Anyway, I'm going to find the web address for the article and post it tomorrow because it sounds very credible to me and I remember that some of you were using neti pots. In the meantime, everyone have a great day tomorrow...and Kurt, do try to stay warm...

There was much rejoicing!

Hello Friends,
I am running out of my medications and have not got my check yet for them to take out my medicare so I can't get them filled either so I had to not take one of the main ones for my Bipolar last night and was awake all night. I took a nap which helped but I have been exhausted all day. Will be glad when I get my check. Hope everyone had a better day than I did. Darla

Got a call from the doctor's office yesterday about the stress tests. Seems that I have a partial heart blockage. He's going in on the 17th to check it out. I leave for Texas on the 10th & return on the 16th. My GS is graduating from the AF base camp or whatever it's called. Third day of not taking the Lipitot & still feel sore & achey. But at least we may have found out what's wrong.

It's in the 50's & windy today.

Hope everyone is doing OK. emoticon

Hi Again:

I just got an email from a friend that gives wonderful tips that save space and money. Here they are:

These are great!!

.
Clever ideas: hull strawberries with a straw
Why didn’t I think of that?! We guarantee you’ll be uttering those words more than once at these ingenious little tips, tricks and ideas that solve everyday problems … some you never knew you had!
.
Clever ideas: use a walnut to heal furniture scratches
Rubbing a walnut over scratches in your furniture will disguise dings and scrapes.

Clever ideas: WD40 for cleaning crayon off TV screens
Remove crayon masterpieces from your TV or computer screen with WD40 (also works on walls).

Clever ideas: store bedlinen sets inside their pillowcases
Overhaul your linen cupboard – store bedlinen sets inside one of their own pillowcases and there will be no more hunting through piles for a match.

Clever ideas: bowl as iPhone sound amplifier
Pump up the volume by placing your iPhone / iPod in a bowl – the concave shape amplifies the music.

Cleaver ideas: Re-use a wet-wipes container to store plastic bags.

Clever ideas: baby powder to remove sand from feet
Add this item to your beach bag. Baby powder gets sand off your skin easily – who knew?!
.
Clever ideas: Use wire to make a space to store gift wrap rolls against the ceiling, rather than cluttering up the floor.

Clever idea: Find tiny lost items like earrings by putting a stocking over the vacuum hose.

Clever idea: use shower caps to hold shoes when packing
Store shoes inside shower caps to stop dirty soles rubbing on your clothes.

Clever idea: Microwave your own popcorn in a plain brown paper bag. Much healthier and cheaper than the packet stuff.
.
Clever idea: use upside-down muffic pan to make cookie bowls. Turn your muffin pan upside down, bake cookie-dough over the top and voila – you have cookie bowls for fruit or ice-cream.
.
Clever idea: Use egg cartons to separate and store your Christmas decorations.

Enjoy each day.

Time for a joke. This is from Reader's Digest:

For the Mrs.

Even though there was a blizzard raging outside, I made it the half-mile to the bakery, where I asked the owner for six rolls.

“Your wife must like rolls,” he said.

“How do you know these are for my wife?” I asked.

“Because your mother wouldn’t send you out in weather like this.”

Enjoy each day.

OK, Vali, here's the moment you've been waiting for:
FREEZING in NYC and very windy.
I only have an evening class, so traveling to work is worse -- no sunlight. I was wearing gloves, but my hands were frozen before I reached the train (it's about a mile walk).
The train I take is above ground and the stations have very old-fashioned electric heaters in the little enclosed waiting area halfway up to the platform -- everyone was waiting by that little heater trying to warm up their hands, so it wasn't just me.
The students in my class are from warmer climates, and some of them didn't even take off their hats and coats because they claimed it was cold in the classroom (it wasn't).

Today was a much better day for me. Slightly warmer weather. (Hooray!) No time warp so I made it to work on time, which is a rare thing for me these days. And I didn't screw anything up at work today. I actually got a lot done, which is no longer as surprising as it was to me when I first started working out of my best department a couple of months ago. All in all, a pretty good day.

I signed a new lease last week. I signed a 15 month lease because hey, I certainly was not planning on moving until I get all of my debts paid off. Today I found out that my company has been sold, and to the company I think is the worst one that could have bought it. (From a lab tech's point of view.) Don't know yet whether or not we're all going to have to apply for our jobs again (the way the techs did the last time we got bought out), whether we're going to lose all of our vacation time, or whether any of us will have to move to Denver where the headquarters of this huge laboratory company is. I picked a really great time to sign a nice long lease, didn't I?

Well that's all the gripes I have for today.emoticonSixty, I hope that you're feeling a bit better. I hope that all of you are having a decent week so far. Thanks for all of your encouragement. You're as good a bunch of friends that I've never actually met as I've ever had.emoticon

Vali - it does sound like a lot of stress going on right now.

Today I went back to Curves and it was a bit tougher since my surgery. But since my surgeon gave me the go-ahead he just said please skip the shoulder exercises, and I did. I am glad to be doing things again that I have had to skip for the past four months, while recuperating. Hope you are all having a good day.

Hello Friends,
Vali- I use to have black outs like you described and be a long ways down the road and wonder how I got there. It was part of my mental illness and I do it when I am under extreme stress. The last one I almost had was when I was taking care of my Mom and going to college. But now that I am not working or driving my stress level is way down. My kids are right and I think I juwst need to work part time and draw my disabliity from now on. So it could be stress causing that to happen. I go back home Sunday the 8th and get into San Antonio about 9 pm. I have had so much fun with my daughter and granddaughter and Cindy her babysitter and Erin;s roomate. We watched 3 of the Harry Potter Movies and now i want to see the rest! Chris has all the books and so now I have to read them . Then there is some other new books out called The Danger Game I think and the movie is coming out in march,. Erin always manages to read the books first and then the movies come out! Hope everyone has a great day!

Just stopping by to say hello and introduce myself. I'm a frugalist to the point that others joke about it, but I sure will be happy when I've saved enough to buy a ranch in Montana with cash, LOL!!!!! emoticon

Looking forward to "meeting" all of you here in our virtual playground and sharing some thrifty tips. Hope 2012 is kind to everyone here!

Be brave enough to live creatively; the creative place is a place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of intuition. Well today was a weird darn day for me. It started out with me getting stuck in a time warp, which actually happens to me on a more or less regular basis. It was 15 minutes before 5:00 so I figured hey, I've got time to use the bathroom before I leave for work. Then all of a sudden I was washing my hands and it was 4:57! No idea where most of those 12 minutes went.emoticon Then I put my leather jacket on so that I wouldn't freeze on my way to work...and the zipper pull broke off when I tried to zip it up. (Anyone have any ideas about how I could fix that??)

So I got to work 15 minutes late and things just kept on going downhill, but at least days like that go by quickly.emoticon I looked right past a very expensive reagent that had already been made up and left in the fridge after it was used...and spent an hour making up another set.emoticonChances are very good that we will use all of both sets and not waste them but man, did I feel like an idiot.emoticonThen the analyzer in the department I've been spending most of my time in lately gave me a bunch of trouble, but after waiting an hour for a call back from the comany I got that all fixed. And while I was waiting for that call back...the analyzer I'm in charge of (in the department I've hardly worked in for the last couple of months) decided to screw itself up and get it's sampling needle all offline. I needed to change it, but I didn't want to get really involved in that and then get that call back while I was working inside that machine.emoticonFinally got both problems fixed and was able to take a 15 minutes lunch break. (I would have taken half an hour except for the fact that I'd been 15 minutes late to work because of that time warp thing.)

After my 15 minute lunch it was almost time to go home. (Let's do the time warp again...) So it was kind of a crappy day...but it went by really quickly. (Hooray!) The workload was pretty light because of today being a fake holiday, which was good considering all of the problems we had today. I hope that all of you had a better Monday Holiday Bill day than I did. Linda, I'm sorry that you're having so much trouble as a result of your radiation. I hope it clears up soon. Darla, how much more time do you get to spend with your granddaughter before you have to go home? I hope that you're all able to ease into the new weak gently, and that you don't make up a $400 reagent for no good reason the way I did.

emoticon

Linda - I am sorry you are having a hard time. We had a meal similar to yours yesterday. We also have pork and sauerkraut on the 1st day of the year. We had some pork chops and some sauerkraut. Actually, the sauerkraut didn't agree with me and I spent most of the evening with a stomachache. ugh!

Tomorrow we plan to finally go see the movie we missed on New Years Eve due to fog. On Tuesday's the matinee is cheaper so it works out better for us.

Hello Friends,
Linda- So sorry you are having so much trouble with your radiation. I hope it gets better for you and I agree with Gail the more you can find funny things to watch on TV or watch comedians it will help you a lot. Maddie is pretty good at making me laugh every day!!! And my kids both just love Ireland! We plan to take a family vacation there some day. Chris and Caitlin were married on St. Patrick's day and Erin's Birthday is March 23 so she has always loved it too. But I like my blacked peas and cornbread much better than I would the corn beef and cabbage!

I am on the Bookworm group too and several women read 100 books last year and I am setting that goal for myself this year. I love to read!! Erin's best friend from high school lives out here too and she gave me 2 books for Christmas that I am starting to read today. I am drinking more water here because they have ice and water in the refrigerator door. Chris goes to a water store in San Antonio and it only cost $5 for several huge 2 gallons jugs. so he can help me get water when I need it. Glad we are all working on our goals of losing weight. As I was packing to come here I found all my WW stuff so I can work on that again . I also found my Spark book I thought I had left in Oklahoma! So now I am all set for the New Year!

Good Morning:

Sixty: I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult time with the radiation. A positive attitude is VERY important. I would suggest you get your hands on a book, dvd or TV programs that are funny. Laughter is very important. Be gentle with your self and pat yourself on the back for whatever you accomplish. You've got big fish to fry right now so don't put too much on your plate. Wow, how's that for a metaphor?

I'm please with what I did yesterday. I got in 4-5 veggies and fruit, drank 8 cups of water (two were coffee) and did 3 PT exercises. One day at a time, right?

Hope you are plugging away at your goals,

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Good Morning Frugal Friends emoticon I am looking for the sun to show it's face. It is spitting snow here.

emoticon About me. The most difficult time with the radiation was the last two weeks then the two weeks that followed. I am just past that a few days. I have had a time with food tasting funny. It has been difficult to drink water - and I was always a good water drinker before. I do drink a caffeine free herb tea. I also have been repulsed by veggies. Before all this, I ate a serving bowl full of mixed salad for lunch most days. I didn't mind fruit. I wanted starch over anything else, and ate meat fair. I also had trouble with colds & an ear infection during the last two weeks of radiation. That is pretty much resolved. But the antibiotic I needed caused tendonitis problems. I am beginning to notice a big improvement in that area.

Today -
I want to work on my exercise without stressing tendons.
Drink 8 cups of water. I have a few of those big hospital mugs. Just fill it twice & drink it.
I am going to start out small with my veggies.
I am going to try to be more careful with starchy foods.

Darla,
Interesting how traditions vary.
This was only half healthy - we ate sauerkraut & sausage with caraway seeds.
Should of had mashed potatoes to complete the meal, but we didn't.
Our Irish friends eat corn beef & cabbage.

Vali
I think your photo you use is attractive. We are all critical of ourselves.

Gail,
I have been counting my herb tea as water in past few months. I usually don't count that, and want to get back to counting water only. I prefer not to count even diet soda as the acid in it is bad for your teeth, etc.

I have a lot planned today. Going to try to conquer my to do list.

Hello Friends,
Thank you so much for the prayers for Gary. He was moved out of ICU today into a regular room so I am so happy! Melissa and I have been friends since we were in Kindergarden! I am just thankful he is alive and on the road to recovery. They had to put some steel rods in his leg but the surgery went well and now just for the long recovery. Thank you all so much. I know she appreicates the prayers too!

We are fixing to eat blackeyed peas and cornbread to start the New Year off with some good luck! I spent last New Years Eve with my Mom in the nursing home and she got to drink a real coke and she was a bad diabetic and I can still see the look on her face drinking that real coke! I lost 6 people last year that Ioved and was close to so hopefully no more in 2012! Hope everyone has a wonderful day with your family!

Linda!, very good decision to stay home last night. Seeing a movie isn't worth risking your life for in the fog on the biggest drunk driving day of the year.

Sixty, how are you feeling now that your radiation treatments are over with?

Darla, I'll be praying for your friend and her husband, as well as for the family of the driver who was killed in the accident. What an awful way for everyone involved to spend their holiday.

Kurt, I thought the photos were pretty good. My ex used to take pics of me every time I got a haircut and once in a while I used to post them. Now that I'm single again I really don't have anyone to take those photos, so oh well. I don't photograph well anyway...

I gave myself a little fright last night. I was really tired in the afternoon so at about 4:00 I lay down to take a nap, I guess expecting that I'd wake up in an hour or two. At about 9:00 I woke up, saw that it was dark out, looked at the clock and freaked out because I hadn't taken a shower and washed my hair, obviously thinking that I had to go to work in the morning. I started to get ready to take a shower but then I woke up enough to put at least a little bit of my brain into action and turned on the TV to see whether NBC was showing New Year's Eve stuff in Times Square, which of course it was. So I went back to bed until about 7:00 this morning. There are many reasons why I don't generally take naps, and that would be one of them. Getting old and stupid kind of sucks...but at least it leads to some amusing stories to tell.emoticon

I didn't make my New Year's necklace, though I guess there's still time for it. I'm still feeling tired so I may just read for a while and then make sure to take a shower and wash my hair before I go to bed. Don't want to wake up in a panic again tonight. The new year is starting out okay for me, haven't even been tempted to do anything that might lead me to need another divorce. My little kitty has been yelling at me all day long and I can't figure out why, but that's not so different from last year so I can live with it. I hope that the new year is starting out really well for all of you.

There was much rejoicing!

Good Morning and Happy New Year:

My food goal for the month is to drink more and log my liquids. Do you all count tea, diet soda and coffee, or just pure water?

As far as exercise goes, I want to resume my membership at the gym and get 3 cardio workouts a week. Also, I want to do all my PT exercises every day or as prescribed.

It may not sound like a lot but for me it is. I'm taking it one month at a time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

emoticon emoticon Happy New Year! emoticon emoticon

emoticon I made it to your page & photos without problem. My computer was downloading a lot of updates when I first got online. It slowed it down. Doing fine now.

emoticon
some of you have listed really good goals. I have lost 3/4 pound since Christmas, so I hope that is a good sign. 2011 wasn't a very good year for my health. I gained over 20# since February 2011 & my activity tolerance has dropped dramatically, being at an all time low. Most of this is to blame on issues with my back and hips. Medical treatments for DCIS put me down further. But all that is over. According to my physicians, each day show be better than the one before from this point on.

emoticonMy goals:
Long Term:
Be able to improve my endurance level to what it was in January, 2011.
Lose the better than 20# that I gained in 2011.

emoticonJanuary Goal:
~Walk the dog around the block once a day to start - progress to walking around 2 blocks by the end of the month. This grandma is looking forward to being able to push a baby stroller around the neighborhood this coming August.
~Resume at least one YMCA class. There are now 4 to choose from Even if I only tolerate 15". Too soon for me to go back to water aerobics - perhaps in February.

Weather forecast for daytime tomorrow is 54, then 44 for Monday, and down to the 20s on Tuesday. The evenings are already COLD. I'm using the oven to make dinner and that keeps this place warm.

Darla says she had some trouble getting to the photos on my page, but my page isn't private.
So, if anyone else has a problem, let me know.

So sorry to hear about the terrible car accident!

Happy New Year!

Hubby and I went out to dinner and had planned to see a movie. However, fog moved in and was getting pretty thick. We thought it may be better to come home for the remainder of the evening rather than drive in the fog on New Years Eve.

Hello Friends,
Well found out on facebook one of my best friend's husbands was in a bad car wreck last night and is in ICU. They did surgery today to put pins in his leg and he came through the surgery well but is still in ICU. The other driver was killed. So please say a prayer for Melissa and Gary Hula and the other family for me.

We have been watching Harry Potter the first 3 movies today. My daughter is a huge fan and has read the books and now owns all 8 movies on blue ray. It has been fun watching them. We have some champne to toast in the New Year. I know 2012 has to be better than 2011 with so many people I loved lost. My goal for this month is drink more water, excerise some every day and just take it easy since I will only be working part time from now on.I have some quilts that my niece makes and want to learn how to do that. I have some quilt pieces that were my grandmothers that I would like to learn how to piece together for a quilt for my bed.

Happy New Year 2012!!!!!!!

My goal for every month in the past few years has been just to get through it.
Not Terrific. Hopefully 2012 will be an improvement.

BTW, I've posted some new photos that were taken on the last day of the afternoon ESL class. I usually don't post photos of myself, but I decided to do it this time. The photo of the party food may not look great, but it was delicious.

I've already had all the bad things thrown at me early in life, so now that those are out of the way, my future should be wonderful.

My goal for the month is to get to bed on time most nights and eat more fruits and veggies. Also to eat less processed food and cook more because all the sodium in the processed food I've been eating has been doing a number on my blood pressure.emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

My goal for the month is to do more weights. I am happy for what I was able to accomplish last year even though I went up and down on the scale a little.

I am looking forward to the new year to clean out clutter , learn new things and better my routes to working out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
