Yesterday I harvested figs, wax beans, purple beans, and swiss chard. The day befor that figs, yellow pear tomatoes and red tomatoes. This is the best vegetable garden I have ever had! I think it was the manure.
I used up all the beets but I planted more. I will put up a recipe for Borscht at my site today.

Just some tomatoes for me. The hard rain and wind of Irene destroyed most of the plants. I harvested what I could before it hit.. but not all.

In the last two days: three kinds of tomatoes totaling about 2.5#
Last night I made chef Meg's roasted tomato recipe. I am planning to freeze half of it.

I will probably have to do these in small batches. I found that it worked for every kind of tomato I have.

Our garden is "going-like-gangbusters", and the harvest is honestly a little intimidating. Tomatoes, kale, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, green beans, dill, kohlrabi and Japanese eggplant are the current treasures that my garden has produced.

I hate to waste food and while I am doing my best to freeze/cook/dry all of the goodies, I need to constantly remind myself that not using every last green bean is forgivable.
That's my frugal nature for you!

Have a great day, everyone!

Actually, two days ago - 2 red bell peppers. They were only 60% red, but one looked like a bird had been pecking at it. I left them on the kitchen counter. Today, the bird damaged one was totally red, so we had it with lunch. The other one is almost red. Those are selling for about $2 each in the store yesterday. I think I just paid for several plants.

One lonely cucumber, 2 sad tomatoes and some runt onions! lol That is what we have gotten so far, and it isn't looking too good for those poor plants, the heat has been horrid and barely any rain:( But, our corn, lima beans, and watermelon seem to be doing well still! We should have lots of lima beans to harvest soon and a couple of watermelon (small personal size ones) should be ready soon too :)

Unlike most of the rest of the country the northwest has been cool, still only one day over 90. I still have lettuce to harvest (it usually bolts in June), we are eating radish greens (better than radishes), mustard greens, kale, a few peppers, zucchini, onions, basil.
Usually eastern WA is in the 90's by now and no rain in July and August. This is a very strange year weatherwise for us but I'm grateful.

Tomatoes, onions and jalapeno peppers. Green peppers soon. Had to pull out and burn my cucumber and zucchini plants because they were growning baby stink bugs. They had produced a lot before that.

I didn't plant this year. But my neighbor (who rarely does) started a nice little plot and has already blessed me with zuccini. Another friend has melons already. I am loving the fact that I have shared in the past and this is the year to receive.

Bless all my gardening friends.

Earlier this year, we asked what you planted. Marpet commented that she was pulling weeds.

I hope all of you who planted are harvesting something edible?

I have tomatoes and emoticon and some herbs.
