So many great ideas here! Just yesterday, I bought a message board for .99 that I am turning into a jewelry display board for sale items for our church auction.
"Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use."
Cloth napkins. I'm getting away from using disposable products in the kitchen, so I love getting high-quality cloth napkins for $1 a set. I just got some great Easter Bunny ones that must have cost a mint originally for $0.79 for a set of 4.
Angel - I love what you were able to do. I think that is the best I have heard of what can be made with a dollar purchase!!!. How lovely that you are able to carry on some of your culture. I wish we could all have such knowledge.
Many years ago I had the chance to take my girls to a couple of Pow Wow's in Canada and one here in the USA. I love the art work and leather works too. Please continue to post lovely pictures of your work!!!!
Watching salt intake also trying not to buy foods that have high fructose corn syrup, sugar, rice syrup, corn syrup, fructose, sucrose etc. in the first three ingredients.
No foods that have more than 3 ingredients that I can not pronounce.
If an item has more than 10 ingredients I put it on the Do Not Buy List as it is too processed.
WHILE I LOVE TO SHOP AT THE THRIFT STORE I FIND I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHILE IN THE STORE. THERE'S SO MANY "BARGAINS" THAT I COULD OVER SPEND EASILY. AS I'VE BEEN TOLD (GRANDMA) IF YOU DON'T NEED IT THEN IT'S NOT A BARGAIN!
Get crafty and redecorate! Just recently I bought 2 packages of coffee themed wallpaper border from our local disabled veterans thrift store (we are in the process of redoing our kitchen in coffee theme). We rent, and there isn't enough of it, so I can't actually use it as a border on the wall. Instead I have been saving coffee cans and vegetable cans to paint and then decorate with the border. I will use them for various things- bigger ones can hold utensils or be used as canisters for noodles, flour, sugar, etc. The smaller ones can hold pens/pencils, loose change, twisty ties, or whatever. Oh, and I signed up for a deal for a free small can of paint so I don't have to pay for that! I can decorate my entire kitchen practically with free, recycled, and dirt cheap thrift store items this way! Can't wait for the paint to get here so I can start!
I use those $1 items as decorative items in the park where I live. Use it to do theme decorating for different holidays-lots cheaper than the big box stores. I also shop thrift stores and get things really cheap to also decorate with.

Oh, Great Spirit Whose voice I hear in the winds, And whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me, I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people. Let me learn the
