Afternoon,

Finial had a day to get out in the yard and clean it up. We are expecting rain again next week but, wanted to get rid of the dandelions that have popped up. Also started to get the soil ready to plant my garden. It was really beautiful here today. I had a great time.

Hope that everyone has a great rest of the weekend. Can't believe it is already the end of April.

Good Evening:

Sorry I've been missing in action but this past week was really a bummer. Vic went in to get his blood tested. Afterward we ran a few errands. When we got home there were 2 messages from the oncology nurse telling Vic he has to come back to the hospital for a transfusion. We went right back in the car...never took our coats off... and headed to the cancer center. Vic got two pints of blood and since it takes hours to order the blood, get it transported, and infuse it, we didn't get home till almost 7pm. I was exhausted emotionally and physically.

My food has be TERRIBLE. This is such a tough time.

Thinking of you all and wishing you a good weekend.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Good Morning Everyone, and TGIF!
A good friend of mine lives in TN and she said that 15 people in her neighborhood died as a result of the tornadoes. Her house was safe, so we were waiting to see her post on facebook saying they were alright. It just makes me want to be more prepared, but we don't have too many tornadoes in WI.

I am really looking forward to this weekend so that I can spring clean and weed out the extra stuff. I am taking my whole saturday to try to downsize one big closet. Wish me luck:)

Good Morning Everyone,
Pat, still thinking of your husband here and hoping you get that call soon. I heard recently about tornado warnings for central Texas, so I always think of my sister and hope she's okay. Getting closer to the end of the work week, and I couldn't be happier.

Hope you all have a great day!

I haven't taken much time for any of my sparking this week. In part, DH has been busy on the computer a lot. But mostly because I have been out of the house quite a bit.
Last evening, I created something for a bulletin board that took me two hours on the computer.

The news before we went to bed last night: Severe tornadoes in the southeast. Moderate tornadoes throughout the US. Tornado Warning for area about 50 miles southeast of here. We were under a Tornado Watch. I hope all my spark friends are safe.

Wow, it sounds like everyone is keeping busy and being productive. Megan I hope you got to celebrate your anniversary-maybe just on a different day. Like someone else said, we pick a date close to ours and try to go out with some of our good friends.
Our cardiologist' nurse called this morning while we were at breakfast-we normally go out on Wed with a group from our community and since many are leaving in the next 5-10 days we had a rather large group today-about 20 of us so it was a nice get together and we just forgot about our troubles for an hour or so. However, she wanted to know if the nephrologist had called yet and when she found out they hadn't, she wanted me to rattle their cage so I made that call but the dr wasn't in this morning so hopefully we will hear something later this afternoon. I don't know if he will want to see him or what. I tried to call back to give the nurse this info, but she was on another line and was to call me back, but that was about 4 hrs ago so guess she forgot me. It wasn't earth shattering news so I am not going to leave another message at this point!
After that I decided I had to try to get my normal stuff done so got a load of laundry going, then placed a refill on a couple of prescriptions, etc. I have watered all my potted plants and then a friend came by and he helped my hubby fix my washer-the outer shell has been off for about 2 yrs-ever since DH put on a new belt-and he couldn't see good enough to get it back on right and the machine works fine, but the outer casing keeps hitting my toes when I bend in to take out the clothes so this is going to be sooooo much better. I think my threatening to buy a new washer made him finally ask for some help to fix it. This was a lot cheaper for sure.
This afternoon, he is over at dad's with another friend, who is an electrician, and hopefully they are figuring out what is wrong with dad's electric and we can get his microwave back in the correct spo on his countert. It is sitting on his table right now and I worry if he should lean on the table, it might cause it to fall over as it has a pedestal base. Can't move the microwave too far in on the table or dad can't reach it.
I am sitting home waiting on someone, read that anyone, from a dr's office to call us! At least we are getting a few things done around here even if things aren't ideal.
Tomorrow my brother is to come down to visit dad and help me with some tasks at his house so depending on docs I guess we will manage all this. DH has to see the oncologist early tomorrow morning. See, it is never a dull moment around here.
Have a great day.
Pat

I have to kill the spiders for my husband as well, but he kills any other bug for me, so I don't mind the spiders. We harvested our first tomato from the garden and have several more growing, so I'm really excited. Our tomatoes didn't produce any fruit at all last year. We're having my husband's father and grandmother over for dinner tonight since it would have been my mother in law's birthday. It will be nice to spend the time with family.

Megan, my DD is the one who clears out the spiders for her DH. He's scared of them. I just cleared out our 2010 tax files and now I just have to bring them to the basement and put them in totes. I think we have room in the totes we already have. If not, I'll have to clean one out and start burning the old records. I think we have records dating back far longer than we are required to keep.

DH has been cleaning out the basement and doing a good job, but it's slow going. We're having days of rain and this is when he gets busy down there. I almost hope it keeps raining so he'll finish it up. I want him to get my big work table cleaned off so I can start making baskets again.

Hi everyone...I have been working in my yard, moving bricks as we are moving our outdoor fireplace, moving hay/straw to uncover plants, etc. Hanging clothes on the line, etc.
I am bending, stretching, reaching, weight lifting, etc...gardening is such a workout I fall into bed and sound asleep within 5 minutes!

Good Morning Everyone,
Does anyone know where Kurt is? I hope he comes back soon. Well, my anniversary ended on a good note. My husband killed a big spider in the bathroom for me after a week of nudging from me. If that isn't love, I don't know what is...LOL!

It's mid-way to the weekend, and I'm actually getting excited for the weekend because I'm going to buy some more rubbermaid tubs with lids to weed through some more items on Saturday while my husband works.

Have a great day everyone!

Congratulations Megan! You'll just have to continue the celebration on another day. That's not too bad. DH and I always pick the weekend closest to our anniversary to go out to eat. That's how we've celebrated for the past 31 years will probably continue to. For a long time, we picked a different restaurant each year, but we started to run out of them. There are only so many up here!

Pat, I know this is disappointing, but unless you pick another dr, I guess you have to have faith that your dr. knows what's best. Just take it easy and try to relax, if that's possible. I hope everything goes okay for you.

Leslie, I really don't mind the hot flashes that much. It honestly just feels like someone turned up the heat a bit or like I just opened the oven door and they don't last long. Once I start exercising regularly, they always go away completely. I went to the gym yesterday and used the elliptical for 30 min. I'll just keep going and on the days I don't go, I'll have to remind myself to work out at home. In a week or so, the flashes will stop on their own. I've had some bad side effects from herbal supplements, so I try to stay away from them. Thanks anyway, though.

Good Morning Everyone,
Pat, don't give up hope; take each day as it comes and make the most of each one. Easier said than done, but better to be positive and stay the course until the doctors figure something out. We're all here to listen, so keep us posted....:)

Today is my 3rd wedding anniversary with my husband. We won't be going out to celebrate, but it's because our favorite restaurant isn't open on Tuesdays....odd. It's pretty rainy here today, but I've got another busy office day, so it should fly right by. I hope you all have a good day!

Good Evening-we got another surprise today-no heart cath tomorrow! Wasn't expecting this one. We are both trying to figure out what is going to happen now. If they can't do anything or it will affect his kidneys, we just don't know what they can do to help him with this chest pain and it is scaring us even more.
At this point, we are just trying to keep it together and going to have to go on with life until dr's figure out what they can and can't do but it isn't going to be easy.

For the mild hot flashes, you might consider using Dong Quai. I don't think there are any med interactions, but I would check with a pharmacist or health food specialist who sells supplements to be sure in case you are taking any other meds.

This is our second beautiful day in a row, but I'm back at work today. I can still look out the window and see it, though. I get out of work at 3:30, so that's not too bad. The thing is, I obviously do not do what I should when I do get out, so I'm heading to the gym directly after work, where I will either use the treadmill, the bike or the eliptical and then go home. I need to get serious, since I added a few pounds back on and I need to lose them before I can start losing toward my goal again. Shame on me!

Got a good review/eval at work today. Otherwise, it's been a crazy day. I'm looking forward to the workout. I've found that as long as I workout regularly, my hot flashes stay away. They've come back, so I need the workouts again. I actually have very mild hot flashes, but no reason to have them at all if I can find a way to make them go away. I'm also hoping that I can regulate my migraine as well, since I'm getting too many of those. Maybe I just need to exercise more?? It hasn't always worked in the past, but I'm willing to give it a try anyway.

Good Morning:

I'm really concerned about Vic. He's been sleeping a lot since his last round of chemo. I'm wondering if he will need a transfusion or if his body is just readjusting to getting treatments.

Last night we went to a good friend's for Easter Dinner. It is always nice to be part of celebrations with good friends.

Hope you all had a good Easter and that the week ahead is especially bright.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

I have been busy with Lent & Easter activities in recent days. We had a great day, but my daughter's family could not come as they have respiratory infections and productive coughs.

Today, I am going to a regional hospital that is an hour away for the MRI of my low back and hip. Then we will eat lunch. Mid-afternoon return to the doctor for the verdict. I have put on a lot of weight since all these problems with my back developed. I need to really take control. I cannot do much cardio - so far. So, I need to make bigger changes in how I eat.

Hope all of you have had a wonderful weekend. We have picked up quite a few new members in recent days. If you are new, just jump in and "chat" with us. It isn't a true chat, but we do tend to respond to each other on this and other threads.

Good Morning Everyone,
I'm a bit groggy this morning, mostly due to the fact that I relaxed too much this weekend and didn't want to get up to the alarm. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, and it got up to 60 degrees here in WI, so we enjoyed the sun. But the rain is coming again. I have some plants that come back up every Spring. I'm not sure what they are, but I'm sure the rain will help them to pop out again soon.
Have a great day all!

Happy Easter everyone and thanks again for all the concern and support.
We have made it thru everything and hopefully now the funeral is over, the healing will begin. I guess this will all be more real to us when we get to go north to see the kids.
We have had friends in this afternoon and about 4, 13 of us went out for Chinese. I had offered to cook, but everyone said no, this would be easier. We were totally shocked when one of the ladies paid for the meal for everyone! She had won big at bingo this past week and shared her bounty with all of us. We are so blessed with wonderful friends. I hope each of you have a great support system too.
DH had a fairly good day. I let him sleep in this morning and he has had just one bad spell so looks like we will make it to Tues and praying they will find out exactly what the problem is.
Have a great week-I have to get back on track-this has proved to me I really am a stress eater!

Hi Everyone,
I had a pretty decent day today. No cooking or cleaning; just usual grocery shopping. Boy, were those parking lots packed! I almost had to fight for a parking spot....ugh! My husband and I just went out for mexican food at a new restaurant that just opened. I was good and brought home half of it in a box:) I hope you all have a good night.

Good Morning:

I haven't been on the computer much because I've been having a lot of pain in my left arm/shoulder. When I sit at the computer it can get worse, though even in bed or sitting in a chair resting my arm often doesn't help. I'm going to call to make an appointment next week if it doesn't let up. I injured my arms a couple of years ago when Vic was very ill. I was doing a lot of heavy stuff including lifting and I might have torn something. PT helped ....my right arm/shoulder healed completely.... but the left side never got to 100%, and without exercise it got worse again.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter,

Gail

Frosty: I encourage your DH to take good care of himself. I understand his desire to be there for the kids, but his condition can get worse if he doesn't tend to it and then everyone will worry about him on top of everything. Taking care of his health is the greatest gift he can give the family.

Enjoy each day.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been away for a few days and I knew your DH was having some problems, but I hadn't realized you had this as well. I just can't imagine. We were away visiting our new grandson, so my heart really hurts for you right now. I am truly sorry you both have to go through something like this, as well as the rest of your family. This isn't easy in any case, but to go in this way always brings up a lot of emotions. I hope everyone is okay.

Thank you everyone-you are all a wonderful support system and it is helping us cope. I am reading these to hubby. He is not doing well-I think he should be in hospital but he wants to be available to talk to the kids so resisting. Keep us all in your prayers-this is not going to be easy.
You are all the best.

This has been a horrible day. We got the news that our grandson who was in the horrible motorcycle accident last Aug committed suicide this afternoon. It has really throw us for a loop. We can't just pick up and head north due to hubby's chest pains that we don't know what is causing. We had just left hospital to pre-register him for the test when the call came in.
Thanks to those of you who have been sending condolences. It is certainly appreciated.
Make sure you tell your loved ones you love them every chance you get, you just don't know when you won't get that chance again.

Hi Everyone,
I just heard a great story from a dear friend of mine. Her fiance' just retired about a month ago and all of their debts are paid off. They are so ecstatic to be debt free:) I can't wait until I know that feeling:)

My hubby and I are beginning to plan our move down to TX from WI in two years. Has anyone ever owned a home and had the issue of trying to sell either while moving out to a new home or apt? We don't know how this is going to work since we need both of our incomes to live on. Rather than clog up this thread, if someone could send me a spark message with any tips, that would be great! I'm saying two years because we need to pay off enough debt and fix up our house more before we can sell and move.

Hubby out doing errors while I go though all the rubbermaid bins and clean them out. Doing Spring cleaning. Now that we have been back in Washington state for a year I am going through the items I put away until we were sure we were staying in the house we are renting. We signed a 2 yr lease. We decided that it is better to rent right now than to buy especially financially.

Any ways, I am also getting ready to sell some items on Craigslist that we do need. We have been given a really nice couch that I want to use in the den as it sits more people then the couch we have now. So, we are going to sell the one that is small. Hubby has a pair of skis that he doesn't want and I have a very old record player and a few other things also.

Working on the garage and in the yard today. Hope everyone has a great week.

Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. We have had a busy week (mainly me-hubby is doing mostly relaxing instead of much helping). Yesterday we hosted 9 people to dinner as a thank you for my helpers here in the park. These are the people who are always willing to help me when they can-they too all have health issues and we all have to work around that. Vicky's husband has been refinishing our park benches and that is quite a job and he has 6 to do and has 2 done so far. Karen's hubby has been helping plant the big stuff and projects we heed a strong back for, Betty's hubby will help haul stuff (or did until he traded his truck a couple of weeks ago!), Donna is always on the lookout at yard sales for things I can use in the park, and of course, the ladies help me with the weeding, planting, planning, pruning and anything else I think we need to do to spruce things up. Karen worked in a florist shop so she is our artistic one and a big help when I do the Halloween and Christmas decorations.
I made the Healthy Mousake recipe that I got off of Spark recipes and the other contributed to the meal-we had carrots, a salad, some nice fresh bread and of course dessert. We had a nice healthy meal and a glass of wine and kicked back and enjoyed just visiting as most of them will be leaving in the next week or so to head to their northern homes.
Today I had to walk alone as my hubby took dad to coffee and donuts and my friend Betty had a bum knee so didn't want to push it and her hubby decided if she didn't have to get up, neither did he!!!
I had a meeting to go to at 10 and got home about 12:30. Hubby stayed home and rested instead of pushing himself to go. We had a late luncheon at 2 to say goodbye to some of our snowbird friends. One couple is heading back to NY in the morning and two more couples will be leaving in about 10 days. I don't envy them heading back to the cold weather-maybe it will be getting warmer up there by then.
This evening I have worked in my gardens and watered at dads and then did another 2 mi walk with my friend and helper, Vicky. I was so hot when I came back I had to take a cold wash cloth and hold it to my forehead. I don't handle the heat well anymore.
Hubby is trying to take things really easy and today was a fair day - tomorrow we have to go get him pre-registered at the hospital so that is a step towards finally getting to the test and finding out what is going on.

Linda, I wouldn't feel bad about having clothes in 3 to 4 sizes. I have a pair of jeans in every size from 7 to 18. My husband does the same thing because it saves the money of buying new stuff all the time.

I have six more Hoarders shows to go catch up on. I DVR the re runs as well as the new shows until I've seen all of the old ones. If we're eventually moving out of state, we're going to need to keep cleaning house as much as possible.

Still on the topic of hoarding, I'm so impressed with DH. He finally got his side of the office completely cleaned. Then he took out a bunch of paperwork that could have been either shredded or burned and decided to burn it in the stove. Now he wants to finish working on cleaning up the basement so he make some room down there for hanging some things from the closet in the laundry room. Most of the stuff that literally gets "stuffed" in there belongs to him or to DS...who is living just one room of an apartment...and everything is spilling out of it. We need to clean it out, I've tried, but as soon as I do, both guys start tossing things into it and it's a mess again.

Still cold up here. We're getting more sunny days and we've had some heavy rains, so the snow is melting and we don't have a lot left, but the rivers and streams are quite close to the banks and some are very close to flood stage. Some have flooded small areas as I happened to notice today in my travels. We're in for some rain on Wednesday and Thursday, so of course, more flood warnings. I've only managed to do a little yard work with DH, I don't dress as warmly as he does, but I hope it warms more so I can stay out there longer. Either that, or I have to borrow his union suits and wool socks.

Laurie

Happy Monday Everyone!
I think everyone has something they hold onto especially sentimental things. I put together a scapbook of my life when I was growing up. My Mom was missing all of it and I did get to show it to her before she died. She just missed my entire life in school and my kids lives and so have my brothers. It is just ridiculous how they act. But I am just going forward with my life and with my kids. They are the joy of my life especialy my little 3 year old granddaughter Maddie! She makes me laugh every day!!! Now that I have the car settled I an work on my apt and talk to my step dad about the house. Hope everyone has a good day!

Darla - Thank you for the prayers. I think my husband thinks I am a hoarder. I keep sentimental items. I have a couple of handmade baby blankets that I received from relatives for my kids over 30 years ago. I also have a small box of dolls and a few items my father brought me from foreign countries when I was a child. I have books that I don't want to part with: Perhaps 2 rows on the book shelf. I have lots of cook books: another2 shelves. And I have books that I use as reference regularly now. I don't have enough room for some of the materials. I really don't consider this hoarding.

On the other hand, I have clothing in 3 to 4 sizes. This keeps me from shopping. But, he thinks it is ridiculous.
One of my goals this year is to clean out the cedar closet that is in our garage. The idea was for it to be for out of season clothes. However, my husband jams things like Christmas decorations in it which prevents it from being used what it was designed for.
We have a two bedroom home with closets from the 1950's. DH doesn't seem to understand that they are small by today's standards. The home I lived in before this one had the same amount of storage on the main floor. But there was about 3 times as much storage built in the basement. We don't have access to our board games and many other items because of our storage issues.

Frosty - enjoy your dinner with your company.

Megan - it is cooler here again and raining at the moment. Hopefully it will clear later in the day.

emoticon Everybody have a healthy week.

Good Morning Everyone,
It's quite an interesting morning here as I'm incredibly exhausted for a change. Normally, I can pop right out of bed, but not today. My husband tried his hand at making chorizo and eggs and I can't stand the smell of egg in the morning, but he half burned the pan trying. I forgot to put the margarine to start it off. Hoping the rest of the day goes better. It's cold here today; only a high of 40 and tomorrow we have light snow coming in. If this is Spring, it's messing with us here in WI. I hope you all have a great day!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Palm Sunday.
Congrats on gettting the new Sentra Darla. Enjoy.
We have had a nice but busy day. I took care of lots of little things around home and did some baking as it was cooler today and we are having company for dinner tomorrow.
We had invited friends to come to our Palm Sunday brunch today and they arrived about noon. We had a nice time there and was joined by two other couples we are close with. In all, we had about 115 people so a nice turnout considering that a lot of our snowbirds have already flown the coop.
We came back to our home afterwards and played some cards with 3 of the couples. By 4 everyone was gone and hubby was able to relax. He is continuing to have chest pain so thinking he may not make it to the 26th at this rate.
Have a happy, healthy week.
Pat

Happy Sunday Everyone!
Sorry to hear that about your pastor. Hope he has a speedy recovery and does well. Will keep him in my prayers!

I watch Hoarders all the time! It makes me want to get rid of stuff too and I have. I only have a one bedroom apt so i don't have that much stuff just like all of you want to get rid of even more! As for my Mom and Step Dad's house that is going to be the chore. It is so dirty and dusty and my kids and I quit going back for Christmas a long time ago because my daughter and I are allergic to dust and we would both just get sicker than a dog staying there. But I do think once my stepdad passes that my kids and I can clean it up and put some new carpet in it and paint the walls and sell it. It is in Odessa Texas and I don't want to live there again. But I could use the money to buy me something nice and just pay most of it down and have it paid off by the time I retire. It is a sickness for people to live like that. My Mom had mental ilness Bipolar that was never treated and addicted to prescription drugs especialy pain pill and my step dad was a alcholic when they married but she made him quit drinking and smoking but she never gave up the pain pills! lol She just quit cleaning house when she had her major stroke and could still walk but just got lazy and would brag on not cleaing it for 7 years! So it is a mess. But i am sure my son and I can get through it all and get it cleaned out to sell. My apt wont' take long at all. I am mainly just have a lot of clothes to give away to charity and books! I have a ton of books that I need to go through and try to sell or give away to the library. I love to read! Went to the dr for my hernia on my belly button and no surgery for now !! But i have gained 15 pounds since jan! ugh! so I am joining the YMCA again and going ot start swimming after work every day and they have some yoga classes I want to take too. Hope everyone has a great work week! oh, got my car! It is a Black Nissan Setre 2008. Sold my old car for $500 to a friend and made over half back what I paid for the car which was the down payment and tags for my new car! So excited! Have a good night! Darla

I am feeling overwhelmed this morning. I have learned that my pastor has a serious condition that will be requiring surgery in about 2 weeks. His wife has become a dear friend.

I am going to be picking up some of his duties for the time being, as I am considered on the staff - as the volunteer parish nurse. I will be available for home visits to shut-ins, etc. Dread the idea of driving very much. But I intend to do this. Plus, his wife knows she can call me or my husband at any time.

Good Morning Everyone,
It's Sunday morning, and I'm feeling pretty tired. But after my coffee and a good breakfast, I'm hoping to wake up soon. Today is our usual cleaning day, and the only extra stop for me is going out to get my hair trimmed so I can continue growing it out longer. Hope you all have a great day!

Another "typical" day for me, got my 3 1/2 mi in early - was home by 7:30 but it was still muggy from the humidity. Then it was a quick bite of breakfast and I got busy cleaning house-hadn't done it really good for about 10 days sooooo tried to get it spiffed back up for company Sunday and Monday. Hubby tried to help by vacuuming, but he doesn't move furniture so I had to redo the family room but at least he got the middle! I still need to mop but will get that in the am.
We took an unplanned afternoon jaunt with friends to a flea market and Sams Club. I picked up some eggplant and tomatoes there. Got home in time to get supper for dad-was about 20 min late (he likes it at 5 which doesn't always work in my plans!). I try to accomodate him as hubby should eat early too to avoid acid reflux.
Tonite I have spent about an hour watering everything since we didn't get a drop of rain and the heat dries things out fast in this sand.
I have my day planned for tomorrow so it will be another fairly early day.
Hubby had a little episode about 5 am, but he didn't wake me up and he was feeling better when we got up. Sure is getting more worrisome waiting to find out what is going on.
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.
Pat

(CAPS FOR VI)

IT'S VERY WINDY, RAINING & IN THE LOW 40'S. CAN'T GO OUTSIDE & DO ANYTHING & JUST DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING MUCH INSIDE EITHER. SO WILL PROABLY WORK ON GS QUILT. I GO ON TUESDAY 7 HAVE THE FIRST EYE SURGERY. FROM WHAT I HEAR I WON'T BE DOING MUCH FOR A WEEK AFTERWARDS. I KNOW IN TIME WE'LL GET IT ALL DONE . I'M JUST TIRED OF SEEING IT THERE WAITING FOR US.

I FIND IT EASIER TO GET RID OF STUFF WHEN I HAVE SOMEONE TO PASS IT ON TO! THE NEXT THING I WANT TO DO IS GO THRU THE WHAT NOTS & THIN THEM OUT. I KNOW SOME REAL HOARDERS & TRY NOT TO PASS ANYTHING THEIR WAY. I DON'T NEED TO ADD TO THEIR STRESS.

STORMS COMING SO HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GOOD & SAFE DAY! emoticon

emoticon Hello Team emoticon
I am sipping on a cup of green chai tea. It is soothing, but has caffeine. I really need to get moving. We had a really busy week, and I haven't finished some of the things I routinely do during the week.

I went to the podiatrist on Thursday. Learned that I have callouses on the soles of my feet that are causing pain and keeping from exercising as much. He removed them, and made me new shoe inserts to distribute the pressure in my feet better. At his recommendation, we then bought water shoes for me to wear during water aerobics. We felt fortunate to find them in our hometown at Walmart.

Gail & Darla
I get too upset watching the news lately. I have been using that time to wash dishes and try to forget it. I guess I should be more interested. I also get upset about our state politics. We are one of the states where the Dems ran away to IL and were still collecting their pay checks from the state.

Frosty
Hoping your DH remains stable.

I have had my share of insomnia in the last few months. I saw a Dr. Oz show that spoke about seven things you can do for your health after age 40. For sleep, they suggested "valerian root" tea. We bought some from a "health food" store in the town where one of our daughter's live. We only have an herb shop here [sold in pill form.]. We were able to get the teabags. The clerk advised to check the odor, as some people cannot get past the bad smell. So, I sniffed the box. It doesn't smell great, but I can tolerate it. I have to add a little honey to tolerate it. I have only had it for a week. I have only had one night that I slept poor. Be sure to read the label about food-drug interactions. You aren't suppose to use it in combination with a lot of things.

Megan - I need to do some serious shredding. Perhaps I should schedule a day just to do that. When we bought this house, I worried because it is only two bedrooms and has very limited closet space. When I watch HGTV, and see people think they don't have enough closets - and notice they have three times what I do - I use it as an excuse for my excess stuff. But on the otherhand, I have seen the limited closets for big city apartments. Then, I have a lot. I am half way done putting winter items into vacuum bags.

Good Morning Everyone,
I'm glad I put up that Hoarders topic....it brought out some interesting stories:) I know it's still keeping me in check here. We don't have a basement, so every closet is full to the brim as it is. But every once in a while, I pull a box out of one that I haven't looked at yet to trim down.

My hubby works for a paper shredding company, so today, we're taking a whole box of stuff to shred for them to dump in the shredder truck. What's nice is that they recycle the shredded product down into a pulp that goes into making new products. I'm pretty happy with my coupon organizer purchase recently. It resembles alligator skin and zips so I can keep the water out. But now, it makes me want to clip more coupons to put in it and there's only so many sites you can hit to get them until you're going to repeat sites. For example, a lot of sites promote the smartsource coupons but you can only print those so many times.

Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Morning All,

Did sleep at all last night had insomnia. I get it every so often. I think this time it is do to the fact that my Hubby's friend it coming back to stay for a week only. I'll believe that when it happens. Told hubby under no terms is he allowed to smoke at all. He clothes smell like smoke. Hubby said no problem. The guy is only 25 yrs. old and look at my Hubby as a father figure. I wish the guy would just listen to my Hubby like a dad.

Anyway, Thank you everyone for all the support and help. I am hoping that this will all go away soon. I have one more week without the guy here. In the mean time I am going to enjoy it as long as I can without him being here.

My footies are sore tonite-walked 3.5 miles early and then I worked with 2 of my volunteers for 3 1/2 hours planting and weeding. We got those flowers all planted that we bought yesterday. That is a start to what we need to get done but like they say, Rome wasn't built in a day! This evening I walked another 2 miles with one of the ladies who helped with the flowers so now my tooties say they are ready for a rest but will get up and do it all over again tomorrow morning!
Hubby did walk this morning but otherwise has taken it easy today and only had a couple minor pains so maybe we are going to get to the 26th-taking things a day at a time.
We have a lady who lives 2 houses from us and she is a hoarder and a shopper. Every day the UPS truck stops with another purchase for her. She can't even drive her car it is so crammed with stuff, as is her Florida room, carport, and I hear you can not get thru her house. Our board is wanting to do something about it-she is not to be keeping things outside and I wish her family would intervene, she needs help. Two years ago they cleaned out and I think she is paying for a couple of big storage units-it is an illness and she definitely needs some kind of help. If there was a fire, she would perish and probably take all the homes around her,
Hope everyone has a great weekend planned and no one was close to the tornados' path. Looked bad on the news.
Pat

Good Morning:

Well, there are hoarders and there are hoarders. My husband is a hoarder, but he has OCD, so EVERYTHING has always been in neat piles. Before he got sick we had so many neat piles around the house that there were places I could not dust, vacuum or wipe down for decades. When he got sick I had lots of help in packing and storing things. Now my home is easy to clean but I still think we have too much. I'm not about to argue with him now that he's back on chemo. Let him do what he wants. As long as I can clean and sanitize so as to minimize his exposure to germs I'm fine. One change that has remained is there are no piles on the floors or tables, and there are very, very few tchotchkes around that are not in a display case with glass doors.

Got some very good news. We've had several hail storms here in south central Wisconsin this year and the roofers are doing a phenomenal business. All up and down our street people are having their roof repaired or replaced. We put on a new roof in 2002 and Vic insisted on getting something really good. We got a roof that was guaranteed for 50 years and could withstand 80 mile an hour winds. I thought he was insane; the roof would definitely outlive us. Guess what folks....in the years since, we've had at least 2 very bad hail storms, tornadoes, high winds, and heavy snows every year. Every year you see the roofers. Well, I had the roofer come out to see if we had damage. NONE. Even the vents and eaves were in great shape. What a relief.

Going to start reading some new authors this week. When I find one I like I read everything by him/her in the order of publication. Mysteries are the best escape for me, but I don't like anything gory.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

It's mud season here, so DH can't work. Now that we have our taxes done, he's putting his time to good use by finally going through his files and sorting all receipts and putting them away. I came home to find that he had actually cleaned his side of the office, something I had been after him to do for quite some time. There was one box he completely ignored for at least 3 or 4 years now, but he finally cleaned that one out. 'Course, if he didn't know what to do with something, he'd put it on my desk. No problem, I tend to toss everything or shred it.

I've been dong a lot of that over the past couple of years. DH likes to say I'm the pack rat, but I've found as I keep going through things, that it's pretty even. I'm willing to part with a lot, I toss, I give away, I sell...he has to think about his stuff or says he can't do anything it right now. A lot of what he says is my mess really belongs to our adult kids or again...to him! When he told me I needed to clean up my stuff in the basement, I went down there, looked around and found that I didn't have to do anything. Just as I thought, all my paint supplies and tools were on the shelves where they belonged. I had tossed everything that was useless. The rest belonged to him and our son. He was down there before Christmas cleaning and he's back down there again. His mess, he can clean it.

I've watched that hoarding show and every time I do, I start looking around and I want to start tossing. After the first couple of shows, I cleaned out the drawers to the end table in the livingroom. It feels so good to open a garbage bag and toss a bunch of stuff I haven't looked at in years and definitely don't need and just toss it all. It's so liberating. I try to give anything useful to others, clothes are given to charity, furniture is given to our kids, nieces and nephews, etc, but so much is tossed, shredded or burned.

A few years ago, DH's parents moved out of their very large, very old farm house and into a very small house they built. It took quite a while to clean out their old house. We got some of their small antiques and they really had to purge a lot. They still have their fair share of things, but DMIL is still going through some of it. She doesn't want to leave anyone with too much to deal with. It won't be a mess, although it will still be a lot.

BTW, Maine is finally getting rid of the snow. We don't have a lot felt on our property and I should be able to start hanging my clothes on the line pretty soon. How nice that will be.

Laurie

Megan, I used to think that they had to look pretty hard to find people to be on Hoarders, but then I started at Adult Protective Services and turns out it's much more common than I thought, especially as you get older. Seeing all of that definitely helps me keep my "collecting" in check.

It is too bad when families can't work together for their parents. My husband's family is moving his grandmother out of her house into a retirement community and it's a big ball of drama, although most of the family has been helping out, but not agreeing. To be honest, I've been trying to stay out of it as much as possible because of the drama. I think we are going to head over there to help clean up the house this weekend, so hopefully everything will remain passive-agressive instead of erupting into full blown fights.

Hope that everyone enjoys their Friday!

Good Morning Everyone, TGIF! Has anyone watched the show "Hoarders"? I tape the episodes and watch them when I have time. But I swear, that show keeps me in check so I don't have too much laying around the house....:)

I'm ready for the weekend. I'm hoping to actually spend some time with my hubby since he doesn't have a work project to work on right now. Hope you all have a great day!

Hubby update-fairly good day today-only one minor episode. Still hoping things stay "stable" till test.
Darla-I wouldn't delay cleaning out. It can be a real pain-when we moved my dad down to Fl, I had a week to find him a place here, negotiate on it, get it pretty much ready to move in-did that in 2 days, then drove 18 hrs to him in ILL, spent the next 6 days cleaning out his house which he lived in for 20 yrs and had moved stuff from his last house where he lived another 21 years. If we had had more time, I probably could have sold stuff for more, but we ended up with a dumpster which we filled 2-3 times (thank God for dumpster divers who came daily and cleaned a lot of stuff out of it!) so we didn't have to pay to dump it more than once. my hubby held court outside selling stuff every day, and we gave the rest to some thrift stores. I had wanted him to have an estate sale and just walk away with the personal stuff he wanted and let them also sell the house, BUT he gave some of the major furnishings to some relatives so they wouldn't do the sale and I ended up with all this work. I worked from 6 am till 9 or 10 pm those days and all we moved down here was a little 6x8 trailer of his stuff! I still am not right after that-I could hardly walk after being on my feet all those hours but it got done! Of course, my brother who lived in town didn't come by and lift a finger, another who lived a couple hours away came twice and worked for 3-4 hours both times and my other brother also lives in FL, he took off work and brought the trailer and helped move stuff back and get him settled in! He is the only one who helps at all with dad. After what this did to me, I vowed to not leave such a mess for our kids so I try to keep things minimal and not collect a lot of stuff. So those of you who hang onto stuff, think about what will happen when you take your "dirt nap"-who will have to clean out, have you left things in good shape so your kids won't have something to make them want to pull their hair out.
Less is more, it really is.

Hello Everyone!
Glad to know I am not the only one with stuff! lol I do think I would like to just sell their house and keep the money. It might take some doing for it to pass inspection but I think my kids and I could come up with that. It will just be a pain the butt to clean it out! They were both pack rats and 27 years of stuff! But I could make trips down there on weekends and get started on it for my step dad who is in poor health himself. I sign the papers on my new car tomorrow!! I am exited!

I agree with you Gail. The legislators make tons of money so they just protect themselves and forget about the every day people! My best friend is married to a State Reprentative here in Oklahoma and he is a very good honest man! They do it to help as many people as they can! I have known her since I was 7 and him for 20 years before he was this! He is just Gus to me! lol Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey, if you think you have stuff, you should see what we have. Unbelievable. My DH is a pack rat. When he became ill gobs and gobs of stuff was packed up and stored. Now I can pretty easily clean my house. I clean and sanitize once a week. We keep clean and Vic knows the rules: buy whatever, but make sure you have a place for it so things don't stack up or clutter the floor or surfaces. He appreciates the importance of this since his numbers dropped and he is back on chemo. I told him plain and simple, he'd have to go into a nursing home if things got bad and I couldn't easily clean. (With leukemia there are no white cells to fight infection, so a little thing can easily turn into a big thing and then you die of pneumonia.) As for me, I'd just as soon sell 90% of our things. I'm a minimalist.

We have a large house and I really wish we had something much smaller. The house is all paid for and to move into something smaller would cost too much. On the plus side, our home is very conveniently located, we have great neighbors, and since we've kept it up maintenance is low. So, I guess I'm not going anywhere.

Now to another matter. The budget deliberations are really a sore spot with me. I don't know how our legislators in all good conscience can refuse to collect more taxes from the very rich. If they just go back to the tax indexes that were in force during the Reagan era we would be much better off. Also, getting rid of pork barrel legislation...usually tacked on to something needed...a whole lot could be saved. Why did Alaska need the bridge to nowhere? Why couldn't they have used the same dollars to put people to work saving the Alaskan environment? The thing is, all this ineptitude in Washington will have a devastating effect on the weakest amongst us. OK, I'm coming down off my soapbox.

Enjoy your day.

Gail

FROSTY, I'm paying off one of our cars in Aug, too:) Darla, Congrats on being able to get another better car:) Sounds really nice:) As far as the house goes, if you don't want to live in it, I would sell it. If you let it sit, it would just incur more issues as time goes on.

We've been sifting through our belongings here from time to time, trying to weed out the unimportant items. When we finally move down to TX, we don't want to have a lot to tote down there. I'm starting to think how this will work to move out of state. We have a house right now and won't really be able to afford two payments until it's sold. I'll have to do some research online and find out how people make a move like that.

Thanks Gail! That is good to know they last a long time! I drive my cars until they fall apart or get wrecked! lol I have had 5 wrecks in the last 4 years and tore my rotator cuff in one of them and had to have surgery then had a hysterecomy last May! Hopefullly things will calm down now and I can just work and have a nice car! Now to tackle my apt with 5 years of stuff in it! It is not bad but just would like to get rid of even more stuff. The older you get the less stuff you need and when you die your kids have to deal with it like we are Mom! My Step Dad still lives in the house and he wants to leave it to me but not sure I really want it! They have lived in it 27 years and it needs a lot of work and I would not live there again. It is in Odessa Texas. But I could sell it and get the money for it. Not sure what to do. Any suggestions??

Not sure we are going to last till the 26th-DH is still having more chest pains-at least early today after our walk-he may have to stop walking till we know what is going on but when we saw dr Mon he said it was ok. What to do, what to do.
Darla-Congrats on the new car. I bet you are getting excited. We are about to get ours paid off-Aug here we come-it is so exciting to get a new vehicle but to me even more exciting is making that last payment! We don't buy new-look for a good low mileage used one but hopefully this one will last us another 4-6 years as we don't drive a lot of miles and I will just make the payment to savings so hopefully we won't have much to pay when we do need a car.
Gail-It sounds like you have quite an arrangement with the co-op. Good for you it is great to get good food for your hubby.
Linda - hope you found out what is wrong with your foot.
Well gotta run, have a chance to get in an extra couple of miles with a friend.

Good Morning:

Well, it's supposed to get to 70 today but the temps will plunge thirty degrees or more tonight. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts. Hope to get to the gym today.

Vic finished the federal taxes last night and will do the state taxes today. That shouldn't take too long because most line items are copied from the federal forms. I'll be so glad when that's behind us. UGH.

Today I'm going to cook up the collards I got at the co-op the other day. A lady in the supermarket told me that if you put a pinch of baking soda in the pot the collards will be nice and tender. I saw a recipe on line today where they have you soak the collards in baking soda and water before you cook them. Any of you try that? Also, I saw a recipe where you add a couple of drops of hot sauce. Has anyone tried that? I was thinking soaking the greens in water with a bit of baking soda, and then sauteing them in a bit of olive oil. I don't want the grease of bacon, but thought of adding bacon bits and perhaps a drop of hot sauce.

Enjoy your day.

Gail

SRIVERS, I don't blame you one bit for having that guys clothes put in the shed. If it's affecting your health, forget about it. Get him to go. I get migraines and I totally feel for you. I just had one yesterday that I managed to get under control.

So I wake up this morning, after having the water heater changed out and new, larger pipes installed around it. I went to take a shower and it was literally the difference between barely getting the shampoo out of my hair and standing in a torrential rain...:) So nice to finally be able to take a good hard shower for once:) Hope you all have a great day!

Hello Everyone!
I can understand how you would feel. Seems like he is taking advantage of your kindness. Both of my kids smoke but I wont' let them smoke in my apt! they have to smoke outside. I have never smoked or drank much either except for Diet Dr. Peppers which i am addicted to! lol But my ex is a alcholic and smokes so he set the example for them. We were just 17 and 18 when we got married. just too young to even know what we were doing. But now my daughter is 28 and my son almost 27 so I don' t have to see him anymore. Saw him at my son's wedding but we did not talk much. The wedding was great though! I am excited about my new car but kind of worried too whether I can do this. I am working full time at a sales job for office max and we have a quota we have to reach. I am getting off of disability and it is just kind of scary to do that but I think I can do this. l don't have to take care of my mom anymore and my kids can take care of themselves so now I just get to spoil the grandkids! I have a 3 year old granddaughter that is the joy of my life and my daughters boyfriend has a 9 year old girl and a 7 year old boy! Then my son and his wife will start haviing kids after they graduate college in a few years! I think it is time for me to get married again but it is not easy since i have been single the majority of my life! I was only married 5 years so I am very independent and set in my ways! lol The gardens and veggies sound fantastic! I have never heard of that before with the farm. That is great! Frosty hope your husband's heart cath goes well and they find what is wrong. I dated a 58 year old man for 4 years that just had a open heart surgery but he is doing well I just needed to break up with him. He never saw a future with me so it is time to move on! Hope to settle with the ins company tom. I got a call at 5 but I talk on the phone for my job so didn't have my cell phone on. Hope fully this is the call! Hope everyone is doing good! Happy Birthday Nana!!! Darla

Afternoon all,

Hubby took all his friends clothes and items and put them out in the shed. His friend has been smoking outside but, his clothes smell like smoke and mildew. My Hubby is even tired of it also. He feels like we are being used. I woke this morning with a really bad sinus migraine. I have been taking it easy. Hubby out running errors.

Thank you everyone for all the encouragement.

Hi Everyone,
The plumber came out and put the new water heater in and replaced some of the pipes with much better and bigger ones. I can already tell the difference in the pressure of the water coming out. I think my hubby might cry.....for the past few years, the pressure was so light that we could barely wash the soap out of our air in the shower and we were most likely wasting so much water waiting 10 minutes for the water to heat as well. It's a good day!

Good Afternoon:

I went to the co-op yesterday and got a host of organic veggies for next to nothing. Everything was firm and beautiful. I think I mentioned they reduce produce if it is misshapen, or if they have a bit left over when a new shipment comes in every day. There usually isn't much because they have the quantities pretty well figured, but I often can get some things. Yesterday I called first and the produce lady told me what they had. She was kind enough to set it aside for me. I walked in about 10 minutes later and got quite a haul: 3 large orange sweet peppers, a sack of hot peppers, a sack of collards, two kinds of fancy lettuce, and two egg plants. All of this organic produce was $6.28. I don't know what prices are where you are but the orange peppers alone are $7.50-8.00 for two here. I think I'll be relying on this a lot since it is not certain that I will be able to garden this summer. The garden area belongs to a local condo and this year there are at least 7 new condo members who have signed up to garden. They are given priority over outsiders like me. I should hear something next week.

Gail

Congrats on the new baby, MISSJEAN.

Gee, I get a chance to finally come back, then I don't visit again for a while. So much has been going on with everyone and with us. I wasn't able to come back because we were in NH with DD and DSIL. DD was busy giving us our first grandchild. We now have a grandson and he's just beautiful and wonderful and those other words grandparents use. We're very happy and are constantly thinking baby!

Linda, I hope your mom is doing okay and I'm sorry about your aunt.

Darla, sorry about the first car, but good news about the second one. Good for you.

I think Penny had a birthday? Nana also has one? I don't really know everyone yet, so forgive me since I didn't take notes.

We can't plant gardens around her until Memorial weekend. The chance of frost is too great. We can see most of our ground now, though. We've had enough sun and rain to help melt most of the snow we have. DH was out this weekend, pruning up all the apple trees. They sure look funny now. I don't have to worry about DH getting dirty. He works outside and gets dirty all the time. He's not crazy about pulling weeds, but he's so ready to save a bunch of money that he's ready to pull some weeds.

His brother has been boiling sap and making the most wonderful maple syrup. I've never liked the real stuff before, but I like what he's been making. It's so sweet and kind of thick. He even started selling some of it because he has so much. He's using some older equipment, so DH is going to make him some nicer, stainless pans for boiling next year. DBIL is having so much fun, he plans to tap more trees and really boil lots next year. DH will probably be in there helping him.

We're having some nice weather now and if the back yard starts drying out, I'll be able to start hanging my laundry out there soon. It's a bit soggy right now, but soon...very soon!

Laurie

To my frugal friends who have been chatting:

SRivers
I have the same allergies. They are worse when the trees start budding. Even if your smoking friend doesn't smoke in the house, the fumes will be on his hair and clothes. They call this third had smoke if the person is not actively smoking. If he is smoking in your house, your hubby needs to inform him that it causes you to have migraines, and that he needs to go outside. Your adult children perhaps don't understand about the "third hand" smoke and how it can trigger asthma for their grandchildren.

Gail/Harplute
Our CSA is costing $22 to $25 / week depending on the length of this years season.
we are splitting the share with our daughter, so it is costing us about $13 a week.
It is optional whether we help on the farm. They also offer camping for free near a pond on the farm. That alone is a big value for our daughter's family.
We visited the farm yesterday. I bought 2 pots of tulips for $5 total. One will be a birthday gift for my mother. The other, a gift to our new neighbor. We got a brief tour as it was quite muddy. We can buy organic eggs. They have also started offering shares for beef.
The shares for the produce - what we are participating in - will begin distributing in four weeks from now. We will be able to pick up our share on Fridays after 2:30p.m. Our daughter lives just four miles from the farm. We will take the food to her house and have it divided up before she gets home from work. I might even be able to have a meal on the table for her.

Frosty
You and your DH are somewhat in limbo now. I hope all goes smoothly for him and that any procedures needed can be done without open heart surgery.

emoticon Today, I have to drive out of town for a meeting. The price that gas has reached, $3.999, I have to think twice about going. I have one more meeting tonight in our town, plus I have a dentist appointment. I also have a podiatrist appointment on Thursday. I have something that is causing a lot of foot pain. It might be a plantar wart. It is keeping from walking, and the weather is nice enough to do so.

emoticon emoticon About Team Goals:
I received a message from Marpet about our team goals.
They can be a little confusing.
If you click on either of the fitness goals just once, it will automatically track for you [as the water drinking goal does for many teams.]
"Do 500 minutes of fitness activities per month" - anything you enter in minutes should automatically track.
"Walk/Run 5 miles per week:" - you need to track in miles [not just minutes.]
Not everybody has their fitness trackers set up the same way. But mine has a button where I can track miles. The screen that pops up will then also ask for minutes.

This morning, I added a new goal that is related to our team. This one will have a check box on your "Other Goals" page.
"Stayed within my spending budget today"
Each day that you spend money and stay in your budget, give yourself a check mark. If you cannot stay in your budget, you may need to take a look at your budget again. After all, everyday expenses have changed a lot on necessities in recent weeks as well as recent years.

P.S.
I have found that if you click on the individual team goals on our team page, you will find out your status with the goal.

Update-hubby saw cardiologist tonite and yes he is going to have to have the heart cath, they will be calling us to set it up from the hospital so don't know when, but the asst at the dr's said it would likely be sometime next week. Now hopefully he doesn't have any major issues between now and then!
Seems it is hurry up and wait! Dr told him to keep walking as it is good for him so we will continue to do our 3.5 to 4 mi most days. I am not letting him lift anything heavy and he seems so tired all the time so hoping it isn't anything major they are going to find. It is a "routine" procedure, as much as anything can be when they are invading your body, but he never does anything the easy way. Had cataract surgery-lost his eyesight in that eye, had back surgery-supposed to get out in a day-spent 5 days in hospital. You get the picture!
Gail, I am happy you can get those organic foods for your hubby as they say that is so important for people with cancer. Yay for that.
I can't believe how some "friends" take advantage of people. I feel sorry for you SRivers. Sometimes we have to take a stand. We do not allow smoking in our house and we won't even stay with hubby's kids because they smoke. I get mad at them for smoking around their granddaughters (our great g-d) because they both have asthma. I could strangle them for it and have encouraged our grandson to tell them they can't smoke around the kids but he won't tell his mom that. I think that just might be the jolt to get her to quit since ruining her health didn't! Ok, I will get off that subject!
I plan to stay busy this week to help keep me from worrying but hubby can't do a lot and reading isn't an option so he will probably sleep or sit and brood till this is over.
Over and out for tonite.

SRIVERS: Oh, you poor dear. I can only imagine what you are going through. I hope you told the friend he has to smoke outside.

Sixty: Those CSA's are great. I don't belong to one because I grow my own veggies, but I may have to rethink that. The community garden I use belongs to a condo association and if enough condo owners take plots there may be no place for me. I could try to get a plot elsewhere, but an alternative would be to get a CSA or participate in the Wisconsin Share Program. I can get organic veggies with Share for $17. 50/ month, (at least that's what it was last year) or I can go in with someone else and share a CSA.

Kurt: WHERE ARE YOU?

Today I went to the local co-op and got lots of great organic veggies for next to nothing. I believe I mentioned if they have a surplus or if the produce is a bit malformed they reduce it greatly. Today I picked up orange peppers, hot peppers (Vic loves these), collards, two kinds of lettuce and 2 egg plants. I paid much less than I would have for non-organic produce. Most of the things were well under a dollar. The very expensive fancy lettuce was 3 small heads for $1.29. I like to get organic especially for "the dirty dozen" for Vic. With the chemo the last thing he needs are massive doses of pesticides in his food.

Take care all and enjoy the evening.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Happy Birthday to Copper Penny.

Usually people in our area don't plant gardens until May 1.
Yesterday, we had a preview of summer with temps up to 86.
It is raining today and hasn't reached 60 yet.
Lisa, last year, my neighbors had trouble with deer eating their gardens. Our yard has fences on two sides and a dense row of bushes on a third side. We have never seen anything bigger than a groundhog in the yard.

I have a busy schedule this week. We have doctor's and dentist's appointments coming up. Plus a couple meetings tomorrow - I need to prepare for them. It seems the second week of the month is always packed with things to do.

The CSA we joined has potted plants [tulips, etc.] for $2.00 this week. We may go and buy something for my mother's birthday that is later this week. We haven't seen the farm since the snow melted. We can also buy eggs there. The produce distribution begins in about a month. We might as well learn our way around.

Happy Birthday Copperpenny! Frosty, I hope the doctor's appointment goes well. Darla, I'm sure you'll love living in San Antonio, but be ready for the heat! I've been here in SA since 2004 and I love it. Of course, I moved here from the swamp of Houston, so it feels relatively dry here. Seems like summer is starting early this year though - we've already had several days in the 90's.

Our garden hit a snag when our cabbages got eaten, but hopefully we've stopped the infestation and they won't get into the lettuce. We got some watermelons to replace the cabbage so hopefully those won't be as tasty to bugs. A couple of tomatoes have started, which is exciting because we planted too late last year and didn't get any. I'm having so much fun checking out what's happening out there every day!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Happy Belated Birthday Copper Penny:) I managed to get all of my cleaning done yesterday while pacing myself. Today, I get to go baby gate shopping after work quick so my animals don't have a big chance of getting to the plumber when he comes tomorrow. Hope you all have a great Monday!

Hello Everyone!
Frosty that is very scary! I will keep you and him in my prayers tonight and hope it goes well tom at the dr. Keep us informed!

Copper Penny Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day!

I went car shopping Sat and found a 2008 Nissan Sentre with about 43000 miles! I had been wanting to buy a Pathfinder but the miles were too much to get improved for financing. The salesman had just traded this car in because he just wanted another car! I drive them until they fall apart! lol So I am very excited to have such nice car and the first car I have had with a CD player and a place for a IPOD too! I also got my ring and my daughter got hers to remember my Mom. Mine is a heart shaped pink saffire with 2 diamonds on each side and little hearts cut out in the ring and my daughters is a opal with 2 diamonds on each side. Oct is opal and Mom was born on Oct 22! She was 75! I have a great paying job now but still want to move to San Antonio. I will just have to see how much money I can save between now and Sept when my lease expires. I am just so much happier when I am around my kids! They are both just so funny and make me so happy! My son and I are done moving! We want to just live in San Antonio the rest of our lives and it will be easier for my daughter and granddaughter to just come visit us at the same time. So I am happy about that! Hope everyone has a good work week! Darla
