More storms here. Woke us up at 5 am and Abbie was really nervous and kept moving all over the bed-finally settled on her daddy's head so about 7 I got up with her and she sat with me in the recliner and finally got her settled down. When the rain settled down a bit, we headed over to check on my dad and he was just getting up but doing ok. I helped him with his morning tasks and got his paper in for him and I have been hunkering down in the house ever since-mainly holding Abbie and catching up on some of my reading. Did get the sheets changed and now doing some laundry. Just sitting and watching the news cover the storm and praying we don't have any more damage here. Hoping the tornado warning is lifted soon.

Good Morning:

I have been using organic fruits and vegetables a lot, especially since Vic was diagnosed with leukemia. The last things he needs are an abundance of pesticides and insecticides. Bananas, eggplant, broccoli, and produce with thick skins like melons and avocados need not be organic, but the dirty dozen, e.g. tomatoes, berries, apples, peaches etc. need to be organic.

I always look for produce bargains. Aldi's is great for non organic fruits and vegetables. Also, sometimes my local supermarket has reduced produce (organic and non organic) but you need to be careful because frequently the stuff is over-ripe or moldy. Any way, in my town we have a co-op. The prices are very high, like Whole Foods. But, I discovered they have a reduced produce section where the prices are GREAT. The produce is never rotten, over-ripe or spoiled. Some of the items are misshapen: peppers that are concave instead of being perfectly round. Other things are surplus when a new batch comes in. I can often buy organic produce for less than the same thing laden with pesticides. On my last trip I got a bag of organic apples for 89 cents a pound, blackberries for $1 a box and fancy mushrooms for $1.29/ pound. You might check out to see if you have a reduced produce section in your grocery or a co-op that reduces surplus or misshapen fruits and veggies.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Thank you for the welcome, Frosty! :)

Jane Lee, It's been a long time since I've visited Hillbilly Housewife, but you'll learn some really good stuff there.

Another good source, is the book, "The Complete Tightwad Gazzette". While a lot of the stuff is a little outdated, reading it will put you in a frugal and more resourceful mindset, I think. :)

Welcome Carolina Girl. You have found a great team.
We have had an exciting day here-storm hit between 3:30-4 and lots of damage in our park. Check out my blog to see pics of the damage. A couple of people had major damage to their homes as did our marina and swimming pool cage. Luckily no one was hurt and our home and my father's had no damage. We are supposed to be on the alert for another round tomorrow. Talked to some friends in the area and both of them had damage where they lived so this was a widespread storm.
Stay safe everyone-days like this make me more aware of how quickly things can change-in the blink of an eye!

Coupon party what a good idea. I find in Au that Aldi helps the other stores reduce prices and have there own brands available to compete. My daughter shops a lot at Aldi and feels generally their quality is better. I think their fruit and veg are usually cheaper.

Welcome Carolinagirl

As for Aldi's, I guess everything depends on the managers and patrons of a store. Here in Madison, WI, the Aldi's on the west side is spotless. It's one of the few places where I will use the toilet.

Enjoy each day.

Thanks for the tips and the welcome, SRivers! I do usually use the store flyers to look for sales. I buy most everything at Aldi, but if I can get it cheaper somewhere else, I will do that. I keep a pricing book (well, index cards) to compare prices. I do use the coupons from Walgreens. They usually have pretty good deals on soaps and paper items. ;)

Morning All,

Welcome Carolinagirl! If you are looking for coupons, you might want to check your local stores website. they usually will have coupons. Also, check your mail as sometimes they send coupon in with the junk mail.

Another way is to ask friends and family to save the coupons for you. I have a coupon party every week to exchange coupon that I don't use and I give them to someone that does. It's great fun. At the same time we exchange recipe's also. We have also started exchanging seeds and plants too. Some of us have too many of the same plants.

I hope that helps.

Thank you Nan & Sixty for your sweet notes on my page. I am doing really good today. Have been having bad allergies which caused me to have a bad migraine for the passed 2 days. The fall from skiing wasn't too bad - just sore. Don't realize the muscles you use. I had a great time with my Hubby. He loves it when I go with him, even though I am still on the bunny hills. He is just proud to see me out there not giving up even with the falls. emoticon

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm so happy to have found this team. I need to check and see if we have a Kroger in the neighboring town, too.

Couponing is something I haven't done in many years because it's been years since we subscribed to the newspapers, since internet came along. Anyone have suggestions for getting started when we don't have a Sunday paper delivered? Would it be worth it to get a weekened subscription?

Carolina Girl - Welcome to our chat thread. We will start a new thread for April 1.

I would have to drive 30 miles round trip to the nearest Aldi's. It has been years since I have been inside. The place didn't look clean [doesn't have to be fancy, but I want clean.] It would cost almost $5 in gas to drive it.

We have two chain groceries. If you use their store card the prices are about the same as a store owned by a local family. I can often get really good bargains at the family owned store, though.
Thursday is Senior Citizen Day at the one chain. I can get an additional 5% off my bill that day. Plus, this particular chain has been having 3 coupons in the newspaper every week. I have to watch that they are making me spend more than I need as they require $25 in the grocery order. Last week, I purchased $26 of food, used two coupons. Got a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi free - planning to donate it.

The other chain store is Kroger [goes by another name in some towns.] Kroger's medium eggs are routinely 89 cents. Occasionally the large or jumbo go on sale for less than the medium. Since it is getting close to Easter, I am expecting them to start marking them down soon.
The fruit - I can find those kind of prices now and then but not continuously. I know I bought 99 cent pineapples back at Christmas. It wasn't that cheap last week.
I tend to shop at two stores during the week. The one with the Thursday senior discounts doesn't have a lot of items.

Today, is my soup supper event at the church. We have been having one every week. I am in charge of this one. I am going to plug in several crock pots with soup that others left yesterday. [Aren't those crock inserts great?!]

Good Morning:

I regularly buy non-organic produce at Aldi's. Do any of you have one in your area? The produce is very good quality and the prices are incredible. The other day I got 4 lbs of naval oranges (99cents), 2 cantaloupe (99 cents each), and a pineapple (99 cents). Is that incredible or what? Large eggs were also a very good buy at 89 cents a dozen. I also find that many other items are very good quality and inexpensive. Meat and staples such as cereal, nuts, canned goods and bread are among the regular good buys.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Just a quick note to say hi to all. Had a full day-got in my walk in a lite mist this morning. Then was off to a meeting, back home to take Abbie to be groomed and met up with friends who had already taken their dog to the groomer and we had lunch while waiting on our "babies" and finally got home just before 5 tonite. Got in a little gardening and now watching The Biggest Loser. Have a great nite.

Hi Everyone,
Things have gotten really busy for us over here. We went out to eat for my husbands birthday last night. Mine is coming up on Saturday and I'm planning an outing to a popular pub here with people at work. Plus, the temps are finally getting into the 40's, so that's better than 30's. Spring, here I come:)

This morning's temp is still in the 20's, but we expect it to be in at least the 40's as the day goes on.
I am going to be working on getting things ready for a Lenten soup supper today and tomorrow. It is a little difficult to keep everything really healthy.

I hope all of you are having a great early spring day. emoticon

Our weekend was chilly at best and this week has been fog and chilly I don't think we even hit 50 today. My husband has had a cough for 3 months and we know can say for sure that the weather will effect it . We have 5 doctors working on it and still no clues but I have hope he is having a CT scan of his head.....I could put in some jokes here but we hope to see if the sinus are the problem with post nasal drip. Frugal has taken on a new meaning with all the medical bills.
On the brighter side the garden is full of daffodils and it looks lovely. Send us some rain please.

Sounds like such a wide spread of weather affecting everyone-some cold, some wet, some hot. Hard to believe all the difference out there. We had a wonderful BBQ on Sat-ended up with 36 showing up, Way too much food, but I sent most of the leftovers home with others so that got it out of here. Sunday I pretty much crashed after the past couple of weeks. Did walk in the evening and we were up early this morning before the rain to get our walk in and was glad we did because it started raining a little after 9 and has rained steadily all day but I am loving it as we are so dry and having lots of wildfires so hopefully this will helpt that problem. I spent a good part of Sun watering at dad's - in case we didn't get this rain - he doesn't have a sprinkler system and I have to move the sprinkler all over the yard! We are limited to watering 2 days and wk and Sun was the day. Had I had my fortune told, maybe I could have saved myself the effort.
Tomorrow Abbie goes to the groomer to get shaped up. She only goes 2-3 times a yr and the rest of the time I do it.

Good Morning:

I was feeling better yesterday but thought it best not to go out too soon. It's been cold here and very unpleasant outside. I'm almost 100% this morning...dare I say...so I expect I'll go out later to the gym and supermarket.

Megan: Happy Birthday to you and your dh. Boy, it's warm in your neck of the woods. Here in Madison it's 24. Thankfully, the sun is out.

Hugs for all of you,

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Happy Birthday Megan and husband! Sounds like the celebration is off to a good start, other than the cold. It's hard for me to imagine still being that cold when we've been in the 80's for a couple of weeks. Hopefully, some of our warmth will head up north soon!

Good Morning Everyone,
Another cold day in the 30's here today, but we'll make it through. It's going to get warmer soon, so I'm thinking positive:) Last night, the in laws started off the birthday celebrations for both me and my husband. They made healthy brownies and we can now go out to dinner and I can get my nails done thanks to presents. My husbands birthday is tomorrow and mine is next Saturday, so his parents celebrate them together. I hope everyone has a great day!

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IT STARTED A RAIN/SNOW SLUSH THAT TURNED INTO THE BIGGEST SNOW FLAKES I'VE EVER SEEN. WE NOW HAVE OVER 5 INCHES OF SNOW. I SURE HOPE THIS IS THE LAST SNOW FALL OF THE WINTER. IT'S SUPPOSED TO GET UP TO THE 40S & RAIN. 2-4 DAYS OF THAT. OUR RIVERS/CREEKS ARE ALREADY FULL. WE DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE. DH DID THE CHORES.

THIS PUMP IS REALLY A HENDERANCE AS YOU HAVE TO CARRY IT LIKE A PURSE. IT'S TOO HEAVY TO USE AS A FANNY PACK. THE HOSE TENDS TO CATCH ON THINGS. THEY SAY IT'LL HEAL ABOUT 75% FASTER WITH IT. I SURE HOPE SO. AT NIGHT WE HAVE TO PLUG IT INTO THE ELECTRIC. IT MAKES A SOUND LIKE SOMREONE SNORING OR SOMEONE SUCKING THE LAST OUT OF A GLASS WITH A STRAW. I DON'T NOTICE IT MUCH DURING THE DAY BUT THE CATS GO CRAZY WHEN THEY COME AROUND IT.

It looks like a sunny day. Temps in the 20's. Typical Saturday for me. I need to do some errands, like return library books. There are free activities in our local community center. It is aimed at children and families. There are art work displays from the schools, but also artists giving demonstrations, including ice sculpture. It sounds like it is free, so we will try to take advantage of this.

I am going to have to start a rehab program for my back problems. It has been going on way too long. My medical expenses are making me tighten the purse strings.

Admiral emoticon I would love to see your trees. We have a huge tulip tree in the back yard & four or five crabapple trees. So far, I can't see much happening on them. But then, the weather hasn't stayed above 30 very many days. The robins are here.

Frosty emoticon We grilled in spite of cold temps for my daughters birthday last weekend. Sounds like your life is really busy.

Lisa emoticon I hope you are enjoying your kitchen by now.

Megan emoticon Hope you are finding a deal on a water heater. Glad to hear the good news about your health. Also, that you have your meals down to a science.

Good Morning Everyone,
I had quite a ringer of a day yesterday. I had found a lump almost a month back and finally found out yesterday that it wasn't anything cancerous, so there's a plus. But the tests were a little painful to find out. Then, ended up with a bad migraine that I tried to sit through lunch with seeing as though my hubby and sister in law had gone with me. A nap and some migraine meds cured the migraine later on. But then last night, when I was feeling better, we went out for a small ice cream:)

So, now that I know I'm healthy, I'm hoping to start off the weekend right, despite the fact that it's 30 degrees outside still. But I'm also losing inches after tweaking the food I've been eating a little more; every week, I'm analyzing what I'm eating and trying to make something else a little bit healthier. I hope you all have a great day:)

Good evening all. Day has been weird, didn't set the alarm so got a phone call at 7:30 that our friends were standing out front waiting for us to walk so threw on clothes and off we went! Glad we got it in but tonite my feet are really aching. I was on them till after 3. I cooked from 9 till about 2 but got everything done I wanted to for tomorrow.
Then it was time to get dad bathed and finally Abbie got her bath-we were about 6 days past normal bath time so was glad to get that done. She got brushed out later and her new bow in her hair and looks so sweet. She got 2 golf cart rides today-folks just stop by and take her for a ride around the park-what a pooch. Of course it isn't like we don't take her for rides all the time but she is such a social little gal!
Hubby isn't feeling great so if he isn't better he is heading back to doc next week. They did his stress test and an echo but he is still having chest pain so think it is time to go ahead and do the heart cath.
Planning to take it a bit easy next week as it has been hectic the past couple of weeks.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Hi everyone, it's been a hectic day here. I still own my apartment that I lived in before I got married over 15 years ago. I had a great tenant for nine years and she's bought a townhouse - yay for her! Now I have carpeting to replace and have to show the place to prospective tenants - ugh, did not need another thing to add to my list! Oh well, it's all good since we have the money to install new carpeting and I got my money's worth out of the old since it's over 20 years old. emoticon

Frosty and Lisa, I really wish I could send some rain your way -- would SNOW do? We're expecting an inch on Sunday!

Lisa, the kitchen makeover sounds great! It'll feel so good when it's all finished and you can stand back and admire it.

Meagan, yikes! the water heater is major cha-ching expense! We've had at least a couple of water heaters to replace over the course of 15 years and taking care of his place, my place and our place! Weird stuff going on with your tub; I don't know about you, but my sweetheart gets really nervous when anything resembling a plumbing issue happens to us.

Have a good evening, everyone!

That kitchen makeover sounds right up my alley. Unfortunately, the only exciting thing we're having done soon is to replace the water heater. But my tub has been leaking a bucket a day; that could've been sent down to FROSTY....LOL! Luckily the tub leak is gone as of this morning. Not sure why, but I'll go with it.

Frosty, I'd make the same trade as you - some warmth for some rain. Our aquifer is already nearing the level where they require water restrictions and summer hasn't even started yet.

My kitchen mini makeover is slowly approaching done. We've repainted the cabinets, put up an art project, and my husband put up the roman shades yesterday. Doorknobs and lighting are all that's left.

I'm looking forward to a hopefully relaxing weekend. We've had out of town guests the past two weekends, so I was doing extra cleaning for them. This weekend we have a baptism to go to then my husband starts his new job (!) on Sunday, so I should have some quiet time. I'm hoping to finish pulling the lava rocks out of the front beds - another project that never seems to end.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I wish I could send you folks who are freezing some of our warm weather and you could send us some of your rain. We are sooo dry.
I was up before daylight to get the sprinkler at dad's going and then we were off to walk by 6:45 this morning. I knew if we didn't walk early I would not get it in today as I had to be at the dentist by 9 am. Glad to have that done and nothing bad. Came home and busy cleaning the carpet in my bedroom and doing laundry and running back and forth to move the sprinkler at dad's. Then we went with friends to another town about 25 mi from here and we did some thrift stores and Sam's Club and stopped to eat at a Chinese buffet-not good but I did try to concentrate on the veggies but know it wasn't a great day food wise so just had a bowl of raspberries for dinner tonite.
I think I am almost ready for the big BBQ on Sat-will cook tomorrow and hopefully have time Sat morning to go to a big community yard sale before the guests start arriving!
Never a dull moment here.

Hi everyone! Today was cold and raining, ugh! Tulip magnolia trees are in full bloom though, so that gave me a smile today when I saw them in DC. Had company over for dinner now I'm ready to chill with my sweetheart.

Gail, I've never worked at polls. It always seems like the volunteers are a little bored, but I usually vote during the slow portion of the day.

Frosty, please, please send some of your warm weather up to Virginia!

Gatorjoy, 2 and 6 are precious ages! I have a 3-year old angel choir at church and they're a handful but I could just squeeze them till they popped, they're so much fun!

Hello Everyone!
I am trying to get motivated on getting back on track with my eating but really just in survival mode and just eating to eat. I just feel lost not taking care of my Mom anymore and I have to just stay away from my 3 brothers who are very controlling and mentally and emotionally abusive. They just can't face reality that I am a grown woman with adult children and a grandbaby! None of them have ever been around us enought to know us. so ridiculous! I get along better with my ex husbands family than I do my own! lol It has been a good day at work and got in all my calls. Now to just go pay my cell phone bill and talk to my daughter like I do every day! She is so sweet!!! Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Everyone,
Still here; just busy, so more days pass before posting. We had one of those cold days where you come out to your car after work and everything is iced over really thick. Spring is so close, I can smell it. Sooner or later, it'll warm up again:)

Hi everyone-haven't chatted for a few days, been super busy. Trying to get a lot done at home and had an outing with friends on Tues and today went for my mammogram-had been 2 yrs so bit the bullet and got it done. We are having a BBQ on Sat to say bye to some of our snowbird friends so trying to get ready for that-expecting 35-40 people so ....you know how that goes. Everyone brings something but we are doing the meat and I am doing the baked beans and potato salad so I can control what is in them. Weather is beautiful down here-warm days (85 today) and cool evenings. Walking early before I get started on anything else so that I get it in. Doing lots of gardening too. Hoping things slow down after the party!

Hello Everyone!
I have a co worker that told me about a free Zumba class at one of the churches here in town so I am going to do that tom night and see how I do. I know it is not easy but it will be a start. Going to start going through things at home to give to Salvation Army and weed out my stuff. You only need so much and I have lived in my apt for 5 years so it is time to get rid of things. I got my picture badge so when I get paid the First I can join the YMCA to swim and do yoga classes. Should be fun! Hope everyone has a great night!

Gail,
I cannot imagine what you are going through. If Vic is up to it, could you take a short walk together? Or, perhaps take a walk with a "girl friend" and get some exercise plus have somebody to share your experience with.
About polls. I have never done that at all. But I always see the workers standing for long periods of time. There are only two people sitting with the books.

Krazy,
I have a pair of slacks in my closet that are a size too small. I was trying them on regularly & using these pants a a goal to reach. I need to start doing that again. Perhaps you can do the same with the shirts.

Admiral,
Good to hear from you again. Dollar Tree is my new favorite store.

Darla,
Sounds like you are making progress. Baby steps in the right direction can get you to your goal.

Lisa,
As the weather gets nicer, I seem to get busier. Sounds like you have a plan to get in some exercise.

emoticon I am headed to the Y for water aerobics. This afternoon, I have plans to visit some family with my granddaughter.

Good morning all! Seems like it's been busy around here lately. We had a BBQ on Saturday and an old friend came for a quick overnight visit on Sunday. I hadn't seen her in years, so it was great to catch up. I haven't been doing well on working out the last couple of weeks, but I'm trying to get back into it. Walked for about half an hour last night, so that was a good start. My husband is starting a new job where he has to be at work at 5, so I'm hoping that I can get up early as well and get a workout in before work. We'll see how that goes.

Good Morning:

I'll be working at the polls in April for the first time, so today I need to go in for training. I took two shifts so I'll be there from before the polls open till after they close. Anyone ever do that?
I live very close to the polling place so that is convenient, but now that I've committed to an entire day I'm wondering if I took on too much.

Hello Everyone!
I went back to work today which was good. I just get real off track with all my health problems when I go out of town and it takes me a few days to get back on track. I got my picture badge today and so on the First when I get paid I can join the YMCA and swim laps each night after work and they also have some yoga classes I want to take. I have been watching Suze Orman and Till Debt Do Us part and reading some books on finances too. I have a little bit of debt besides my student loans so I am just trying to get that all paid off so I only have my student loans to pay. I do so much better when i am around my kids and I think I just need to save my money and move down with Chris and Caitlin to San Antonio. I signed a 6 month lease on my apt and will just save my money so i can move in Sept. I just want to keep going forward with my life and not looking back. Everything in my life is better when I am around my kids! Hope everyone has a great night!

Hi everyone, it's been a long while since I've chatted with the team. I've been overwhelmed with good stuff and I'm seeing the end of it (I hope). Hi to those I haven't seen on the threads before!

I'm having a good day at home, it looks like it might rain this evening. My sweetie traveled to Kenya and just got home on Sunday. I'm thrilled to have him back safe and I spent a whole dollar celebrating his return: went to the dollar tree, bought a package of balloons, blew them up and distributed them between his closet and armoire. emoticon

Have a great evening, all!

Good morning all!
@ Linda: Have a nice spring break with your granddaughter! My daughter is 11 and the times I get to spend with her is precious!
@ Gail: May the Lord be with you and your family during this time of trial! Check out yoga exercises and especilly breathing to help you deal with the stress and exercise at the same time, it really helped me during my unemployment!

The kids that I'm staying with bought me some XL & Lg T shirts while at their dad's. A few XL's fit with a little tightness but I WILL work out of them! Went from a 3X to a XL! Ehaw!

Good Afternoon:

Got to fess up. I got up enough courage to step on the scale and saw that I hit 200. I don't want to be there and the last thing I need is for me to have health complications because of my weight. It's a vicious circle what with depression over Vic's leukemia, constant stress and fear, and coping with food. Add to that that I haven't been exercising and it's a terrible combination.
Right now I'm just trying to hold everything together.

Thanks to all of you who have been sending good wishes, comments, and goodies my way. Your prayers and kindness touch me deeply.

Gail

Enjoy each day.

Darla I am glad to hear you had fun in Amarillo Texas and that you enjoyed your stay here. That's my nick of the country.
It is windy here and going up into the 80's our gardens are looking good with all the spring flowers coming out.
We enjoyed the warm weather this weekend, ate out on the patio. We think the grill may make it until fall but it has seen it's better days.
So glad spring is here now no more snow!
Back to work have fun,

I had so much fun the 5 days we spent in Amarillo Texas for the wedding. My son and daughter in law just stayed in town and hung out with family so that was a lot of fun. We ate breakfast at IHOP this morning then I headed home. Everyone is home safe now. My daughter had to drive with my 3 year old granddaughter to Phoeniz Arizona and they got extremly sick last night and Maddie kept getting sick and has a fever now. But they are home now so maybe they can get some rest and be okay tomorrow. It was strange seeing my ex and his girlfriend. I had not seen him in 9 years and he has really let himself go. I have been just really attracted to him since high school but this is the first time I was NOT attracted at all! lol I have been with a good looking military man for 4 years so makes a huge difference! lol It was a fantasic time for everyone!!! Now to get ready for work again tomorrow! Hope everyone has a great work week!

Krazy, congrats on the new job:) And it's nice to see the man behind the name:) Sounds like you had a great day yesterday, way to go!

I had a decent Saturday; I made healthy choices where I could and went healthier grocery shopping this time around; cost me a little more, though. It's a very very rainy Sunday here in WI today, but not really going anywhere except to get gas in the car later. Have a great day all!

Not only did I play volleyball for the first time in I don't know how many years last night with my daughter Rhi, and not only gained some weight yesterday (both from eating white flour, or known as bread addiction and hopefully muscle from volley), I also got a job! Praise God!

Hi Everyone,
Hope your weekends are going well so far:) Darla, I know it's hard to say goodbye to loved ones and go back to our hometowns. I'm moving to Texas eventually to be near my sister, but until then, it's hard every time we have to say goodbye. Glad you had a great time with them all, though:)

Good Morning emoticon It is a sunny day so far.
Planning to view the SUPER MOON this evening. We have been seeing the moon near the horizon before dusk. It will be the closest to the earth at 3p.m. Eastern. It is suppose to have been 19 years since the moon has looked like it will today. It is one of our daughter's birthdays. We are having a SUPER MOON theme party for her. I went to the Dollar Tree & bought a silver garland with stars on it to use for decoration. I also made her new pillow cases. [fabric for the pillow cases was a bit steep.]

We have had a very busy week - mostly with family. With another birthday on the 16th & a third one next week. We have been away from home some. When at home, it seems that DH has spent a lot of time on the internet, so I haven't been on much.

Darla - what a neat day to have a wedding. As I recall, St Patrick had something to do with marrying the Irish couples.

I am off target on my eating this past week. I think I need to wait until the birthdays are over, but there are things I could improve in spite of that.

Linda - North East Indiana, USA `Goal to build myself up to reach 1,000 fitness minutes per month.

That's wonderful news, Darla:) Congrats to your son and new daughter and law:) We have a Red Robin restaurant here, so I just got back from going with my hubby. We have their rewards card, so that came in handy to save some money. Have a good night all!

Yesterday on St. Patrick's Day my Handsome 26 year old son married my gorgeous 22 year old Daughter in Law!!! They only spent $5000 on the wedding and it was great! The bridesmaid had blue dresses and cowboy boots on and the groom and groomsman and my ex husband all wore black tuxedos! I am stilll here in Amarillo Texas where it was spending time with my daughter and granddaughter who is 3 and was the flower girl! she did great! Then after the wedding was over picked up every flower to take home to Arizona which Mommy was just thrilled about! lol At the end they played the theme song from Top Gun and they all put on sunglasses and walked out! lol It was great!!! My ex and I got married at 17 and 18 . He had graduated but I had not. We are still pretty good friends after 29 years!! I have never in that time seen him dressed like he was at the wedding and I hit him on the arm and said you look pretty good old man! lol He is just a year older than me so we are both pretty old now! lol And i am way way off on my eating!! But I am getting back on track when i go back and start swimming at the y. Also 2 free zumba classes in town I might try too! But i know now I am moving to New Braunfels to be close to Chris and Cailtin. I have to be near my kids! I just love and miss them too much!

Taking Vic to the cardiologist for his annual physical this afternoon. He went for chemo himself this morning and seems tired now. Thankfully, he's not nauseated.

Gail - I'm sending good thoughts and prayers to you and your husband. My MIL went through chemo and it was definitely hard on her. Just keep going one day at a time.

Seems like it's been really busy around here. My husband's birthday was last weekend, so we went out for that then my parents came in for the day on Sunday. One of my old friends who I haven't seen in years is coming to spend a night this weekend, so I'm trying to clean up the guest bedroom, which seems to have become a storage room. Hubby has been helping with some repairs to his grandmother's house, so he's been pretty much done by the time he gets back to our house.

Gail praying for you and your hubby.
Life is chugging along here-beautiful weather predicted for all week. Walked 2.5 mi early with friends, then worked in gardens for 90 min before getting ready to go to the reunion dinner I was hosting at 2. Had 68 sign up for it and 57 showed up so pretty good turnout. 2 couples came back to our house and we played some cards before they went home a little after 6 and then I did 2 more miles to help make up for the ribs I ate today-has been over a year since I indulged and hopefully will be a year before I do it again! Finally found time to Spark before bed.

Hi Everyone,
Things have been crazy busy in my neck of the woods, but I'm still here, catching up on emails, etc. The sun came out today and melted more snow. I can't wait until Spring when the weather gets nicer and I can stand to be outside.

Morning All,

Been busy with work. Gail my heart and prayers are with you and Vic always.

Weather has been very wet here. Planning on skiing tomorrow. We have received another 4 to 10 inches of snow in the Mts.

Hope you all have a great week.

Good Morning:

I was down with a cold Saturday and Sunday but did take good care of myself. I'm so glad I had frozen dinners I prepared last week, so Vic just needed to nuke his food. Sunday I spent the entire day and night in bed resting and drinking tea. I didn't take any meds but did use my Neti pot twice and I think it helped a lot.

Yesterday I went with Vic for his first round of chemo. He goes 10 straight days a month. Today he went by himself. His spirits are good and he is taking things in stride, carrying on as though he was not ill.

I want to thank all of you for your emails and postings, wishing us well and keeping us in your prayers. It means so much to us.

Gail

Enjoy each day.
