Patty. you have the right idea.

With this weather, staying in makes saving easier.

Good time to use up freezer items also.

Stay warm and safe, Nan

The 16.7" of snow helped me save tons - I'm not going out in it.

God grant me the serenity to change the things I can, to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Ordered 2 pair of athletic shoes from amazon. They have a promotion for $15 off $75 purchase on select items and free shipping. Plus, their prices are cheaper than anywhere else for what I wanted. So great deal for me emoticon

Local grocer is advertising buy 2 get 1 item free..

I think it is really a saving if you have a coupon
also for the item.

What do you think?

Giant Foods had a special: Buy $30.00 worth of Scottissue and get $7.00 off at register. There is also a deal on UPromise for $5.00 credit to my account when I buy the same $30.00 worth of Scottissue.

I saved $12.00 and have enough toilet paper to last for next few months!

Of course, the coupons are in TODAY'S paper...oh well.

My best savings is making my own shampoo, conditioner and hair gel.
Have been doing this for a year and a half now.
My hair is stronger and I never have dandruff any more.
My 20 year old son washes his hair this way too.

Shampoo: 1 and 1/2 Cup warm water with 1/2 Tablespoon 20 mule team borax dissolved.

Conditioner: 1 and 1/2 Cup warm water with 1/4 to 1/8 teaspoon citric acid dissolved. "the kind you use to can with."
You can increase or decrease the amounts. This is just my recipe.

We use squeeze bottles that you can buy cheaply. My friend uses her old shampoo and conditioner bottles that she washed out well.

It doesn't lather. You get used to it emoticon
The citric acid removes any excess borax.
There is a transition period. You may need to shampoo more often. Oil glands are used to your scalp being stripped of oil, from using Sodium L'something sulfates, so they overreact at first.

Gel: 2 and 1/2 Cups of distilled water in a small saucepan. Add 2 Tablespoons whole flax seed. Simmer about 20 to 30 mins. You will see the gel forming.
Strain through a fine wire strainer into a glass bowl.
Add 1 Tablespoon coconut oil. Stir till oil is dissolved.
I sometimes add essential oil for fragrance, I like Patchouli.
Pour into a squeeze bottle with a large opening and keep in the fridge.
Take it out of fridge and into the bathroom during your shower, it warms it up .
Put a little in your hand about nickle size, warm between your hands before applying to your hair. My hair is short, I use about 4 to 5 nickle size amounts in my hair.

I'm thinking, I might be posting too much and too long. Sorry emoticon
If you have any questions, just ask.
I'll never use store bought hair products again.

You have to get any silicone out of your hair first, so the first shampoo, will have to be a shampoo that does contain that nasty sulfate, if you've been using a conditioner or styling product that contains silicone.
There are places on the internet like "curly girls" that talk more in depth about this natural shampooing process.
It really is working wonderful for me and my son. And it saves us so much money too.

Raspberries at Kroger for 99 cents--

BTW-- shoppers should be alert to the fact that items are excluded from sale deals like the BOGO deals at Publix. Just bought salsa, BOGO, but I picked up one flavor that was excluded from the sale offer. This was NOT specified on the shelf sticker, and I did not know it until I checked my receipt after my purchase. I went to the service counter with receipt and the product for a refund. Be alert and watch out for "exclusions" by monitoring the clerk as items are scanned at the check out. (Daddy always taught me this) Ha.

God grant me the strength to reach my goal.

Ralphs was having a sale on Healthy Choice Steamers (frozen entress) for $1.88 I stocked up on those got about 14 (for me and my boyfriend for lunch). So I have 1 w/ a homemade salad of mixed green, tomato, red onion). My lunch daily cost less than $4!!!

Also...got a deal on shampoo...lol. Clipped coupon for $2 off 2/pantene pro-v (got 7 bottles) came out to $2 a bottle (cheapest I find is $2.99/bottle)

Wish that we had Trader Joe in our area of Alabama---
I guess the closest one is in Nashville, TN--

What a nice gift from students-- those gift cards!

God grant me the strength to reach my goal.

$61 in fresh groceries from Trader Joe's using gift cards my students gave me. I only had to pitch in 36 cents! :) Also spent $12 at Stater Brother's for cereal and mac and cheese using another student-given gift card. I still have $3.48 on it! :) Not bad!!!! :)

I bought a bunch of grapes for $ 1.49 a pound-- red seedless kind. I thought it was a great price until I saw the Kroger ad--- 99 cents a pound for the same! Ha.

God grant me the strength to reach my goal.
