I am training for the warrior dash, that I am doing with a friend in Alabama. So running and weights are on the agenda today and probably on and off this week.

well.. I'm getting ready to leave in 10 minutes for an 8.x miler from 41 and Gunn to City Hall. This is the 5th consecutive week I've made that run btw. I've eaten like a horse though, and I kinda got that under control again. I need to do some weight work too.

Time to get this thread re-started!! What have YOU done today to get closer to your goal?

Nothing for me yet today... but I'm planning on a Shoulders workout this afternoon... and a run!

Is this the one called "Claxton". uhhm... how 'hilly' is this...or do you know. This month is '10K' and I want to do one I can finish :-/.
BTW.. team member StevenBush1 is my son... and guess what he's suffering with??? SHIN SPLINTS!!!
I told him to post here because you are the resident expert on them!

He's lost 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks!!!! Woo hoo!!!

It you go past the base toward Bonaire on 247, it's the shopping center where Edge Fitness and La Cabana mexican restaurant are. Next to Statham's Landing subdivision. There's a 5K and a 10.5K.

Not real sure about the 50K/marathon weekend right now. I did the 10K Saturday and I am hurting again. These shin splints will NOT go away. I'm making an appt today to go back to Piedmont and get them to look at it.. I hate the drive all the way out there, but I seem to get better results with them than when I see the doctors at Middle Ga Orthopaedic.

We'll see,

But knowing me, I'll suffer through them anyway, just got go up in levels in the Marathon Maniacs, and then rest until June.

Yeah. She can do it. She's incredible. Bonaire... local pointe? I'm going to take a look to see what wifey's schedule is like. Maybe I can try that one.

Oh my! I will see what is going on next Saturday. The one next Saturday, is it a 5k or 10k? I know I am not ready for a 10k. But I should be able to swing a 5k (off and on jogging with more walking that jogging).

Do you think you can do the one next weekend at the Landing Pointe shopping center in Bonaire? I'm planning on doing that one too. If my shins hold up. LOL

They better, I have back to back marathons the next weekend. A 50K on Saturday and a marathon on Sunday! (It scares me every time I say it....)

I wanted to do the 5K but just found out I have to babysit my nephew tomorrow and we have to do lots of work outside around the house. But I so want to! emoticon

Glad your shins aren't hurting as bad. Mine are feeling great today, even after jogging last night. I put ice on them when I got back home and took a Motrin. No pain today.

I got my 3 miles in yesteday on the treadmill.. and a little ... but very little... pain in my shin today. Nothing like it was on Wednesday after Tuesday's run. Hopefully this time it'll be gone by lunch too, like it was last time. I skipped the ab work yesterday. I was completely lazy when I got home from work and didn't get my run done until it was time to cook dinner, then by the time I got dinner done, I didn't have time to do anything else.

Tonya - I totally understand about the rushed days! Wednesday used to be my crazy day, too.. until my daughter quit cheerleading and I didn't have to take her to tumbling anymore every Wednesday night. Now, the busiest day is usually whatever day my oldest daughter has to go somewhere and needs my car. I'll be so glad when she gets her own car!!

Today, I get off work at 2:15. It's usually 2:30, but I managed to actually get here early today. THAT is nothing short of miraculous!
I'm planning on a walk on the treadmill and the ab work that I didn't do yesterday. LOL.

Tomorrow I am supposed to be doing the No Excuse for Child Abuse 10K, but not sure my shin will let me do 6 miles. I may do the 5K instead.
It's a run walk.. so if anyone is interested in going, even if you aren't a runner.... I put the info on the 2012 Events thread.

That is awesome Becki! I didn't get my workout in yesterday. emoticon Wednesdays are a tough day for us. I babysit my nephew and our daughter. Our nephew gets to our house around 6:45 in the mornings and doesn't leave until nearly 4:00 in the afternoon. Then I had to fix dinner, help kids with homework and get everyone out the door for church. Didn't get home until about 8:00. Then I was very tired. I know, I know, I should have got up around 5:45 and did my exercise. All of those are excuses. I have to make sure I get my 8 hours of sleep. I am off track and I can feel it. When I consecutively get 8 hours of sleep for more than a week I feel so much better!

Yesterday, I did 30 minutes of upper body strenght training and then walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes, probably close to 2 miles... my gagues are screwed up because my treadmill is like 15 years old, but it felt pretty close to a 15-16 min/mile pace.
Great hour of workin' out.

Today, I am hoping to get a run in (3 miles, Lord willing) and work abs.

Tonight's workout was not as hard as the previous time. Jogging is getting easier and I am thankful! It feels so good to be able to jog. I will be glad when I can jog more frequently. How long did it take until you guys could jog everyday? Or do you jog everyday?

This evening I went walking/jogging with our 15 year old. She did really well and was jogging right along side of me. I thought it would be a hassle to take one of the kids with me. Guess I was wrong. I will start taking at least one kid with me when I go. I want them to be healthy and in shape too. I am tired of not having energy. Plus, I felt so much better mentally and emotionally tonight after our workout. I think I am officially addicted to jogging! emoticon
