Here we are a week later and two snow storms have now dropped a bit of snow on our landscape. I have getting some good exercise completed due to all this beautiful white stuff dropping in just for me to move to a different spot. And those spots are filling up too. It is time to go out and move some more now. We got a turkey in the oven as a donation to a Senior Citizen dinner today at the Elks Lodge on Low Street in Newburyport.

I just did get 35 fitness minutes completed this Tuesday morning.

Just outside these walls and windows is an Arctic Blast going on and the temperature outside here is 13 silly little degrees. That is bloody cold. Bundle up when you go outside this morning.

It looks like I am moving back to MA. This is bittersweet. My husband of twenty years wants to part ways so that he can rediscover himself. I am sad about leaving him behind in Florida but glad to be moving back home. I was not too happy in FL.

Good morning on this cold Wednesday morning after the "big" snow storm. How much snow did you get? We got less than two inches in beautiful Newburyport. And that is okay. I was outside shoveling at 6:00 a.m. in my exercise shorts after I put 15 minutes on the stationary bike. I was ready and warmed up.

We are having a cold spell with the thermometer holding about a minus three this Saturday morning.

In the past the city has run a snow removal machine down the Clipper Rail Trail to make it a passable walk way during the winter. Thee are a lot of people who use this walkway every day. If you have cross-country skis there is the Maudsley State Park that is available for use.

Good to see someone is taking a walk outside.

Today and tomorrow may be okay for a walk but then Thursday may be troublesome. We may get hit with a good snowstorm. So get your cross-country skis out for a walk in the park.

What do you do on a cold gloomy, rainy winter day - you make bread. Cheese bread that has corn meal, corn kernels and chili in it. This is going to smell good cooking and taste good too.

Hello Team Mates of the North Shore. I just came in from vacuuming up the falling leaves in the driveway , sidewalk and along the street next to the sidewalk. I just keep loading up my compost bins with all these leaves. It will keep my compost worms going through the winter.

I put down 20 fitness minutes for exercise doing this job too.

Good morning to all and to DIANNE.

I was up a little bit later than normal this Monday morning - at 5:00 a.m. and I did not get on my stationary bike until 5:30. I pedaled away for 20 minutes and then I picked up the kettlebells and worked with them for 10 minutes. When I get up I take five prunes and two dried apricots along with eight ounces of distilled water before I get on the bike. When I get through the exercises I take another eight glass of water. By that time it is breakfast time and I have my first cup of good black coffee.

Good morning, DIANE, and here it is three weeks later from when you posted.

It is logging your food/nutrition plus the water and your exercise too. And doing it regularly too.

I just did fix the Sunday morning breakfast here along the mighty Merrimack River. I fixed scrambled egg for two and I used three eggs but before I put the beaten eggs in I cooked up some mushrooms, onions, peppers and pepperoni in some olive oil then I put the eggs in and as it cooked we put some shredded cheddar cheese on top. In another cast iron skillet I cooked up two red potatoes and onions and got them nice and brown. But before I cooked this up about a couple of hours before I ate five dried prunes and two dried apricots with an eight ounce glass of water and all of this is a little over 600 calories. I had a half of a small banana too. Had two cups of black coffee - almost forgot. How does all that sound. WooHoo!

I have completed two ten minute sessions on the stationary bike so far this Saturday morning. I must mow the grass this morning and that should add up into some fitness minutes too.

We are motoring to the Harley-Davidson dealer in Everett (Boston Harley) this morning. That probably will not consume too many calories. But it is fun and exciting.

I know it's bbeautiful there. I used to work at the Immaculate Conception School every December. We are in the Cape Ann area and we also have pretty spots to enjoy!

Yes. the "Old Times" is quite near one end of the board walk along the Merrimack River. If you were to follow the boardwalk westward along the Merrimack and continue past the Black Cow Restaurant and the Plum Island Roasters Coffee House and then the Michael's Harborside Restaurant there is a walkway under the U.S. Route 1 Bridge that continues you on a paved way along the Merrimack River

If you visit our beautiful City Of Newburyport which is the birthplace of the U.S. Coast Guard with building of our first Revenue Cutter MASSACHUSETTS right here in Newburyport around 1790, you will find ample free parking in Cashman Park with an entry on Merrimack Street. You can walk the paved walkway from that park eastward into our downtown area.

I may have been where you are talking about in Newburyport. Is it near the huge "Old Times" or some name like that where used furniture and antiques are sold ? It's not far from Starbucks. I have been to Plum Island but don't know where the National Refuge is located.

Well you should visit Newburyport and walk the Clipper Rail Trail. The trail connects to a paved walkway along the mighty Merrimack River too. There is art along the Clipper Rail Trail if you take the time and can appreciate what the artist is displaying. We also have a board walk along the River as well.

Plum Island also offers walks on the National Refuge. And then there is the walk you may do along the ocean which you have already;

Well, I am not doing as well as last winter but I am slowly improving. First, I cut out the sugar.... Next will be any carbs. My husband and I walk along the ocean every morning.

Good afternoon Andrea on this beautiful Wednesday afternoon. Sounds like you are staying active working and walking through your discomfort. You do what you can do and just keep pushing yourself.

I was up at 4:30 a.m. and on my stationary bike at 5:00 a.m. I got 55 fitness minutes completed by 6:30 a.m.

I started in January.... Did well with food and weight loss. Threw my back out and regressed. I have been doing exercises for my back and now trying to get back on track! I am walking every day though.

Good morning, Andrea.

Not too many show up and post on any of the forums we have for this team.. Maybe you can change how things are for the team.

I do show up and toggle on the HUDDLE site each and every day but I am the only one.

I get up around 4:30 a.m. each day and get my fitness minutes completed by 6:30 a.m. I have a stationary bike and I also work out with the kettlebells each day. How are you doing? Are you reaching your goals?

Busy time of year. Getting the boat ready to go sailing for the summer. All this rain doesn't help. Am trying to stick to my food tracker but exercise is lacking. At a stand still with weight loss. Hard to wrap my head around the discipline to stay on track. One day at a time I guess.

Today is a wet Saturday morning in Essex County. Maybe we will go to Costco today in the rain. I did completed 15 fitness minutes on the stationary bike this morning.

I wonder why some people become members of this team but never show up and post on any of the forums.. What were they thinking about membership? Sparkpeople remarks that we are on a weight loss journey and that posting helps us in that journey..

Today is Thursday and it is somewhat wet. I completed 45 fitness minutes this morning starting at 5:10 a.m. this morning.

On Tuesday we went into Boston to the Symphony Hall and watched a performance of the Boston Pops conducted by Keith Lockhart. It was tremendous.

I was in Vegas in February. My husband and I went to the north rim of the Grand Canyon and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. There was snow on the top...something that I thought I wouldn't see again since we have moved to Florida.

This past week my pain has been awful but I am managing to do my walking regimen. It does help. If the weather continues the way it has been I will go to the pool and swim. It helps my pain and makes it easier to exercise.

Hope everything is going well for everyone else!

The last time anyone checked into our chat room to post was a month ago. Pretty quiet team for the North Shore of Massachusetts. I am presently in Las Vegas taking a week off and just enjoying our time here in the warmth of the day. We are going to a show at the MGM Grand on the strip called KA this evening. We did just get back from a tour of the Red Rock Canyon which is spectacular - almost as good as the Grand Canyon.

I was up at 5:00 a.m. and on the stationary bike in the fitness room of Tahiti Village just south of downtown Las Vegas.

I hear you. My weight has been at a stand still the last few months. I shouldn't complain because at least I am not gaining. Hard to motivate in the winter months. Starting back at the gym today and hoping to get back into a routine. I think it is great that you can get yourself to workout at home. Too many distractions for me. Guess we will just keep on going and hope someone will step in to lead the group. Really don't know how many members are active on this site.

Thank you for asking! I am a co-leader of one team already and it is not too easy to motivate people and make it feel rewarding that you have done something. I have enough difficulty in motivating myself to keep doing this - to drink eight glasses of water per day - to log my nutrition and to log my exercise. This is not easy. I have been dong this almost three years now and it still does not get any easier.

I visit SPARKPEOPLE every day and post on some sites and "huddle" on five teams that I am a member of and this is time consuming. There are not too many people that can spend the time that it takes. How are you doing in your weight loss journey?

Yes, that is right! I wonder what disappointed her to leave the leadership role so quickly. Some can make it quite time consuming and get frustrated with the amount of time something takes. Just logging and posting can take a bit of time. But it is supposed to help us all in this weight loss journey.

Anybody else interested in jumping into the position?

Good morning, Team Mates of the North Shore Massachusetts Team. I guess we have another snow storm coming and visiting with us this Thursday and Friday. What are they saying maybe aroiund six inches or so! It will probably make a mess of things for a while and then the sun will take it all away.

Looks like we need a new leader for our team. Anyone interested in taking up the reins of the leadership of this team?

I did get my 60 fitness minutes completed before 6:30 a.m. this Wednesday morning.

My fitness goal was to hit my power yoga class, which I did. Nothing like 90 minutes in the hot room to get rid of the headache and pump up my water consumption for the day. My handstands (wall) felt fabulous. The rest....not so much. I battle GERD and this morning was difficult. That being said, I did what my body told me to do today and pushed it just a bit farther. Hopefully the GERD will decrease as my weight decreases. I'm not 100% sure of the correlation, but we shall see.

My mother fell down and broke her knee cap last week...a result of this snow storm. She ended up having her knee cap removed and is now recovering in her home. She won't be able to go very far for at least a few months so sadly she and my dad won't be able to come visit my husband and I next month. I am very concerned about her and of course very sad and disappointed that I won't see my parents for a while. It has been over 7 months since I saw them last summer and at least another 6 months before I go up to visit them in MA.

We finally got our car out of the snow. Free - free at last. It had been snow bound for more than a week. It was three or four days before we could even see it. It was completely buried in the snow. By 10:00 a.m. yesterday, Saturday, we had it clear - started the motor - and got it moved out and we still had about another foot of snow under the vehicle that had to be removed. Yes, we got a bit of cardio/strength exercise doing this job. I had already completed 45 minutes on my stationary bike just to get warmed up for the exercise too.

Yes, you are right about the forced cardio exercise with the removal of snow. I am still removing snow from my driveway. I was able to use a snowblower to get a good bit of it but there are many tight areas that can only be done with a shovel. And then there is the placement of the snow I am trying to remove since there are limited places to put the snow I am trying to remove - so each shovel full needs a new decisiion.

The storm really helped boost up my cardio, I live on the 3rd floor (outdoor stairs) so had to shovel them 3 times, shovel my car out, and driveway Landlord was no help with that. And shoveled two days in a row my arms feel like they would fall off

Good morning and welcome to our "quiet" team. Spice it up and have fun.

I have been visiting many months with no response - this is going to be good for a change.

My snowblower worked very well yesterday - thank you - And the shovel worked well too. With all the exercise and snow removal I got between three and four hours of fitness. Went to bed and got over eight hours of sleep according to my FitBit.

I got 45 fitness minutes completed so far this Monday morning.
