Welcome back to Spark! It's great that you and your daughter are doing this together. Seek out teams that share your interests and get involved. The more you reach out and participate the more you are visible to "friends".
As far as diabetes/obesity my only suggestion is to read books like Engine 2, Eat to Live, The McDougall Program, Skinny B!itch. One theme you may notice in all of these books is a vegan diet. The vegan diet is proven to reverse diabetes and a lot of other diseases.

I became an SP member last year and did okay with tracking and stuff for about 2 months. I did lose some weight but kind of lost my motivation. I have had little support at home to do this on top of owning an income tax business, going to graduate school, getting ready to take my CPA exams here in Illinois, and doing my volunteer work with Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary). I've been watching the last three-four seasons of The Biggest Loser and yesterday my daughter (SABRYNA93) and I decided to start our own BL challenge. I'm hoping that being able to work with/against her I can stay on track (get back on actually) and get to my goal. Since I started this last year and with my slipping I have still managed to lose 24 pounds so far on my road to losing over 100. I don't have a lot of friends on SP so I'm not sure how to stay motivated besides my daughter. I have health issues like HBP and border-line Type 2 diabetes. WTTW (Channel 11) recently had a show on which I have not yet watched the entire show about a newly coined term - Diabesity (diabetes and obesity) - and how to work with/through/around it. It's about an hour and a half show and I just haven't found the time to watch all of it. Any suggestions to all of this? Thanks for the responses.
