That's a really good idea, MYTURNJ. I usually stay away from stairs, I have COPD and a bad back, my body doesn't like the stairs! But when I go to the store, or anywhere else, I park away from the door so I have a longer walk......every step helps!!

emoticon ZANYGIRL1... Feels good to be moving again.
It's a emoticon day today so won't be walking outside but will do my best to get my emoticon steps in by wandering around here at work whenever I can.

One of my tricks... I'm on the third floor in the middle with the restroom at the end of the hall and stairs at both ends of the hall so when I need to use the restroom I walk down to the "facility", then down the stairs to the first floor, thru the building, up the other stairs, then back to my desk. It's doesn't take very long but the break is good for my head, good for my heart, good for my legs, and... the more water I drink during the day... the more trips I make! emoticon

Yes - Good Morning Tuesday! No rain here yet so hoping to get outside for a quick walk soon. Looking forward to getting back on track now that my knee is feeling better.
I wasn't able to do the Illinois emoticon on Friday but was so motivated Saturday morning after working in my moms yard that I ended up walking emoticon 3.8 miles!

Most everything to a point should grow in Southern Illinois. I'd get a catalog from Henry Fields or Gurney's (I'm sure you could request one online) and there will be a map in there that gives you codes of what grows in your area. Most seed packets at the store do the same. A good clue would be if they sell it in your home garden center, it will grow in your area. Talk to the experts in those places, they will give you the best advice. Take advantage of their knowledge.

I have a question for you all. Do any of you grow your own food? I have a small yard and I want to make some raised beds to start a small garden. I also want to try growing some herbs in my home in hang baskets. Dose any one have any advice more me on what grows good in southern IL? emoticon

I had my grandbaby all weekend so of course did my best to spoil him but in the process... emoticon I was weak and broke down and had a Sweet Tea from McDs. I must admit that those first few sips were heavenly.... yes emoticon , but then I've been drinking sooo much water that all that sugar was suddenly just too too much and YUCK! I'm back to water. Soda was an easy fix... a side effect from my migraine meds makes all soda taste bad. All I can taste is the carbonation.
Now if my doc could just give me something to make pasta taste bad....

I have not had a soda emoticon of any kind in 2 years. I saw about two pounds drop when I quit. But I started drinking a lot of tea emoticon with sugar. I talk to my doctor and he said I need to cut the sugar in my tea and drink more water. Well I slowly cut the sugar down to 1 cup for a hole gallon of tea. But I had still not started drinking more water not tell I rejoined Spartkpeople again. I have been drinking at least 8 cup emoticon or more of water every day. I have also started drinking dec tea maybe one glass every other day. I have been drink more juice to help get my fruits in. But I notice I drink mostly Ice Water any more. Tho I plain to cut my sugar in my tea again.

I think my true love was a bottle of CocaCola. I loved it so much and drank at least 32 oz. a day. If I'd been given the choice of food or soda, I would pick the soda, every time.

In the fall of 2011, I quit drinking it. Promptly lost almost 10 pounds. I have not had any except for a very rare sip, of someone else's. But never Coke, which was my favorite. I have not had even a sip of Coke, because I am not over it. I feel like a drug addict. I miss it, think about it and feel like I could at any minute, just give in to it.
I can not even imagine what I would be like if I completely cut out sugar.

Linda: I will keep my eyes & ears open for quilt shows in my area. I'm always up for something new and this sounds like great fun. You've piqued my interest, that's for sure.

Oh my KATD! Never heard of a quilt show! Quilt shows are wonderful! But, of course, I'm a quilter and I would say that. But, if you ever get a chance, go to one. I'll bet you will love it. It's amazing what some people come up with. Quilts are no longer boring.

I gave up the soda and the chips in October KNOXIE so those are 2 things I don't have to worry about putting on the tracker. My problem is "comfort food".

Well I try and keep an honest tracker for Nutrition but I also don't always get in dinner and later in the day snacks. I have been better lately and hopefully I will keep it up but it is easy to forget those potato chips or that soda! I don't want emoticon to remember I ate them!

Oh I forgot, I went to the quilt show in Decatur, IL Saturday and I was very disappointed not a very go showing of full size quilts at all. 2 week earlier Springfield had an excellent one. I'm going to try taking a class on paper piecing. it looks interesting.

sorry it's been a while was out with the flu emoticon the only thing good about the flu is the scale for a short time shows 8 lb. down. Still not up to eating like I was before the flu maybe that's a good thing. I have been getting my fruit and veggie in since I was sick they seem to stay on the stomach without upsetting it. we when out for supper tonight and it is not settling at all.
emoticon I have never been much of a runner the sister are too big for much running. emoticon I do like to walk. I think that why I keep a my ticker on my fitness minutes. the Ticker will always move that why.

I strive to log in everything, in the Nutritional Log.
There are days that are shockingly high in calories. So, I try & find the silver lining. At least I'm doing pretty good with my vitamins & minerals. And then there are days where it all just comes off the rails. It's just a disaster and there's no doubt why my weight loss is going at a snails pace.

As for running during my period: I just do it. Only severe cramps will prevent me from exercising. I did the couch to 5K and loved it. My first 5K race I took first in my age group.

Can't help it, but I am looking forward to menopause. I'm sick of getting my period.

emoticon Sorry Ramona! I keep an honest tracker too, but, unfortunately, I don't finish it out usually after lunch. I get busy and decide not to do it. Not a good thing either. I've not gained but I can see if I keep doing that, I am going to start getting lax and start gaining. Fruits and veggies aren't a problem for me to get in (when I have them). My problem is the bad carbs. I have to steer clear of them. Like you, I work real hard at getting my activity in.

I hope everyone is still keeping an honest tracker I would love to fill it in with all the right foods, however that is not what I did. I kept it honest, log every bad thing I eat and reached over 2000 calories. Four day in a row, no wonder I gained 5lbs this week I may get my fitness minutes in but I keep eating to many calories and today was no different, again with no fruits or veggies emoticon

Happy Monday everyone! Hope your Weekend was Wonderful!!!

Question for the day is a little personal so cover your ears if your sensitive. During that, you know... time of the month... how do you keep up your regular workout routine?

I'm on week two of Couch to 5K and really want to keep training as my first marathon is coming up in 4 1/2 wks and though I know I'll be able to walk the whole thing I'd really like to be able to run a good part as well. Yes - crampy and uncomfortable and grumpy but don't want to take four days off.

Thoughts?
