I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you all. My name is Peggy aka DaiseyDuck and I am your Illinois team leader. I have had quite a wonderful journey with SparkPeople and only recently took a break from the site due to the sudden death of my father. Today I sat down to check my e-mail and was incredibly surprised to see entry after entry titled "Illinois Sparkers has a new member!" I wondered what could possibly draw so many people to join the team so quickly, and decided I needed to stop by the team page to check it out. I have to say I love seeing the excitement on the threads! After a quick check back through my numerous e-mails, I found a couple I thought I should share with you:
#1 "I wanted to let you know that we are making some exciting changes to each of your state teams! We are very excited to recognize each of your team’s as the “Official State Team”! Because of this, we ask that each of you change your state team name to “Spark [state] – The Official Team”. For example, if you are the Spark Ohio State Team you would now be “Spark Ohio – The Official Team”. Please note that with this change you will see an increase in members and hopefully activity. Moving forward, SparkPeople will automatically place members who live in your state into your team when they join SparkPeople, and next week we will move all current SparkPeople members who live in your state to your Team.
In addition to becoming the official state team, we have added some pretty cool features and tools that will help your team lead the way in health and fitness!
- Each state team will have its own vanity URL linking to your team page. For example, Spark Ohio- The Official Team will have its own URL at www.sparkohio.com in
Jenny and The SparkPeople Team "
#2"Hello to our State Team Leaders!
My name is Dave, and I am a SparkPeople employee. As you know, we are moving all of our members into the state teams where they live. We feel this will be a fun way to help members further connect, and also do things like state-to-state competitions in things like fitness minutes and SparkPoints. We've moved about half our members to state teams, and the other half should be moved by Tuesday. "
Ok, so that answers the question many of you have been asking "How did I get placed into this team?"
Now, moving forward, I see that I have my work cut out for me. I would love to add a co-leader to this team. I will be checking in with the State team leaderboards to see effective ways to do this. I am psyched to see the team grow and I love all the chatter. I apologize for not being here these past weeks to welcome each and every one of you more personally - Please know that the welcome mat is officially out and I am so very happy that you all are here with us! I promise to get the team a bit more organized over the next few weeks. I appreciate your patience as I get through this holiday season with my grieving family.
Have a blessed holiday season!
