Oh you unlucky girls. I pray you both will find some improvement soon. Makes my life look so much less complicated - I only have arthritis and obesity to worry about so far. Being the middle child, and under less stress, I guess I have been lucky enough not to have the high blood pressure or diabetes problems that my brother and sister have. My hubby is now going through some testing for cardiac due to the fact one of his younger brothers has recently had bypass surgery. Hope he's OK but sometimes I worry about the way he is breathing at night time - keeps me awake sometimes.
Take care.

Treadmill Test- passed, flying colors despite now being out of working out until further notice for almost 9 mo.s
Ultra Sound of Upper body- no blockages found- Dr says he still hears one in my neck.
COPD- mild, mostly sport related Asthma.
Thyroid Levels- none- working on doubling daily dosages.
MRI- of my body- bad at neck, mid-back, and lower spine. All out of alignment, little or no cartilage left. Possible nerve damages or like.

I've got my blood tests tomorrow, to check adrenals, kidneys, make sure I don't have renal artery disease; next week I have a kidney/stomach MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram, checks the smaller blood vessels) and the week after that I have an echocardiogram for my heart.

I'm with Quenneville - I haven't been very active, come and go - hopefully here to stay again for awhile. But, it is nice to remember when I began this journey and connect with others who started at the same time. It's also nice to be mindful that these weight and health goals aren't always easily achieved right away but can be reached over time.

So, thanks for keeping this group open!

Wow, do take care of yourself Margo.
My life is still crazy busy. Can't wait till summer gets here. Things usually slow down then for me.

Well, I had a health scare last week and a couple trips to the doctor so have lots of tests coming up but that's gotten me even more committed (and I'm fine) and wanting to pass them in flying colors :-) So, I'm doing "everything" right (and even enjoying it). I hope this keeps up past this month (my last test, on my heart, is the 31st of the month!)

Gee, almost a high school reunion, too bad it is for a funeral :-) I know what you mean though; I'm currently reading Joan Didion's, "The Year of Magical Thinking".

Today I skipped out on school because I was asked to play organ at a funeral. I have been a friend of the family since childhood so it was an honor and privilege to play for this man's funeral. Funerals to me are a celebration of life and I look at them as reunions. Always nice to see the kids I grew up with now that we are almost senior citizens - can reminisce about the good ole days.

Wow, you're really busy! We drove a couple hours out to Winchester, Virginia, yesterday to listen to my sister-in-law's choral group. We hadn't seen my brother and sister-in-law for over a year, we all think; my sister-in-law kept joking, "Now what did you say your name was?".

I swear I'm still trying to get use to being back home instead of in Florida. The new furniture delivered last Tuesday is still a "big" deal to me, getting use to all the rearrangement. We have grandchild babysitting on Wednesday and then going back to Virginia to visit with DH's former business partner, his and his wife have a new porch or deck we're supposed to admire. We're all hoping it's a bit warm by then?

Nice to hear from you Margo. I have been keeping myself busy in all areas of life. Go to school one day a week, work whatever call-in hours I can get at the group homes, have two music jobs. Physically I have been getting physiotherapy treatments to try and get more mobility on my right side also getting some massage. Trying to remember to do the physio exercises twice a day is a challenge. Seems I am always running from one thing to another. At least I am not bored! I am excited that my daugher is expecting her first child near Halloween. She has been trying for 4 years to get pregnant. So, this will be #3 grandchild for us and we have a step grand as well.

I got new furniture and my old computing arrangement doesn't work anymore so I am choosing to work on the computer by battery, only, which means I, theoretically emoticon am working on other things during the day, getting more exercise and attending to my "real"/physical life. Unfortunately, that's not always happening. One day I read all day, another I watched TV. Yesterday though I got a bit more done so there is hope!

It is nice that the team is still here to remind us. I use it to remind myself that my other teams are similar, aren't necessarily used/unused because of something I have done or not done. It helps me feel freer to use SparkPeople in my own way and know others are doing the same.

I'm recommitting, since getting home from my month-long vacation last weekend. Spring is around the corner so there's hope there too. The month away gave me a different perspective on my life and routines and I hope I can use that to help myself achieve what I'd like this year.

Hello Margo and Shellpro
We all have our struggles. I know I have not been overly active on this team but I am glad that it is still here as a reminder of when I began with SparkPeople. I too have not made much progress in almost 3 years but am still hanging in. I have been quite active on some other teams that I have joined and i do try to check in every day. I do read some of the comments but don't always have a response - maybe I have been 'too silent'.
I hope we will still try to keep this team alive even if we only check in with each other once in a while, and even if it is only a very few that are still involved.
Take care!

No, you're not doing anything wrong! You work to get better, Shell, how hard for you! emoticon

I'm getting over my Christmas Eve fall pretty well; don't look hideous anymore and my leg gets a bit better each day.

I haven't been active due to bad health issues. I've been in a terrible state of dementia, failing organs, and deterioration vision- and I haven't been able to communicate with "real world" much less here at Spark's. I understand if disbanding or changing to a new Co-Leader may be necessary.
I don't know if or when I can participate on a more regular basis. I'm sorry.

I think we are not very active on this team because most people have dropped out of SparkPeople and using it for weight loss or lifestyle change.

Some, it's probably true, have gotten where they aimed for and either maintained or wandered away through time.

But then there are some of us still here but not using this team. The team says when we started here at SparkPeople and it can be perceived as being "bad" that we've been here almost three years and are still working on the same goals, some have lost and gained back and others haven't lost very much. Those who don't want to be reminded "daily" have dropped this team.

Then there are the very few of us who are still in here swinging, still trying to stay mindful of the whole journey, how long it can take and how individual it is. However, there are also some of us who would like to but are unhappy that the team has no "action". Welcome to my world; I have created or taken over teams, the great majority of which have no action :-)

I am here though and am not going anywhere in the next five years, probably. I just started my 10% team to lose 10% of my weight/change my lifestyle each year and it will probably take me four or five more years to get to a place where my goals will change from health and fitness to whatever will be next after that, if anything.
