Yep - FB is addictive!

I stay so busy these days and get really tired (slightly anemic). Hoping the warm weather will help keep me motivated - I do better with higher temps and more light.

I still check in a look around from time to time. Health issues have been dragging on, but things are looking up, feeling better. I got sidetracked with facebook and the games on there. I started doing Zumba and I love it. I have been watching my food choices and I am down 10 lbs. So... Hello to you guys!

My SparkPeople Virtual Walk Challenge: walk from Tampa, Florida to Bellair, Texas (989 miles).
Started 4/29/2008.
Finished 4/29/2009.

Hi, Barb! There's three or four of us still here (and the team will remain at least until 2015, as long as I do :-) I'm going a bit slower about this, figure I didn't gain it in a couple years, it might take more than a couple years to lose it so I'm trying for 10% loss/betterment a year now.

I'm still hanging in. Got complimented by my doctor. He doesn't see me very often as I am pretty healthy. Said he thought I was losing weight just by looking at me. Wow, that sure made my day last week! Unfortunately the scale does not reflect how I look, but I know it is simply because muscle weighs more than fat.

I actually had 3 weeks off for Christmas vacation. Ate too much, spent too much too. Glad to be back to my normal schedule. I give myself a couple of weeks to recover. Jan 14th is my big day. The magazine is coming out. I hear that my picture is the first in the article and it is a full page! Lorraine

Trying to get myself organized and re-dedicated to being healthy. We lost one of our dogs over the holidays (Hunter Hound to lung cancer). Between the sadness of this, holidays with constant travel (along with a little bad weather), and my 50th birthday, I have been entirely derailed.

I'm starting to get organized toward packing. Our RV ran out of propane; we've been keeping the heater on a bit to keep the pipes warm these below freezing nights and I guess its cycling on has run it out finally so DH has driven it up to the hardware store to get that taken care of. I've whittled my three lists down to only two; one a grocery list for tomorrow, the other final prep things to do.

I may subscribe if I can't find one on the newstand.

Deni, what a pain not being able to open drawers and cabinets in your kitchen easily with no knobs! I bet you're thrilled anyway to have it all almost done and be able to get on with day-to-day life?

I leave for Florida for a couple weeks on Monday. It should be a bit of an adventure, we're driving our RV down there to sell or set up to go stay in for the entire month of February. These last few days of getting ready and getting all my Christmas things done early/in time (we won't be back home until the week before) are a bit hectic but I've instigated a couple new safeguards to eating and activity so it is easier for me to get enough and the right kinds, etc. I've started back drinking a couple 16 oz. bottles of water each night too and that has made a huge difference in how I feel I think.

Well, let me get this last box of books loaded in the car and go pick up the RV from its repair shop. My day has begun in earnest now, no more lollygagging on the computer.

I started new second job in the afternoon. I am struggling trying to figure out how to get in as much exercise as I was doing before. Did ok on maintaining weight during week long Thanksgiving vacation. I actually lost a few pounds that I had gained. I will be off work again for three weeks for Christmas break. I really am trying not to bring junky food into the house. If I don't buy it, I don't have it around to tempt me. During Christmas break I am planning on forcing myself to go to water aerobics. I just haven't wanted to get into water and then be cold. I will share with you all that I will be featured in a article in ALL YOU magazine. I had a photo shoot back in October. The article tells about my weight loss success story with my two little dogs. It should be out December 15th.

Just tired - the kitchen renovations are done (except that I STILL don't have knobs) and I have been trying to get the house organized. Problem is that my husband keeps collecting furniture! One of his clients decided to 'down size' his home and gave my husband a really nice sofa, love seat, 3 chairs, 2 sofa tables, a coffee table, 2 lamps, and a bed. They are now in my living room that I had cleaned out and organized. Need someone to help with the heavy stuff because hubbie works all the time!

Attending TOPS meetings once a week and weighing in. Trying hard not to over eat and to choose the right foods. Working on improving my arthritic condition by going back to physio and having massage treatments. If I can relieve some of the pain then I hopefully can start exercising more often and go for walks.

A LOT can be done lying or sitting with a little ingenuity. A certainly walking isn't comfortable for a lot of us- but we plod on as best we can.

I am feeling frustrated because I just found out that I have 2 Spigelian hernias. That kind is found in the upper stomach above the hip bone area. I have been told not to do any exercise that involves those muscles. Pilates is out. So is water aerobics too. all I can do is walk my dogs. Lorraine

Since doing the Wog thing for so long and always having a Hound in tow- I try for Speed to Burn more Calories now. I'm halted on all the other Workouts until my Blood Work is found a cause of the Cell issues. I've got problems too many. I'm also having the Mammo Follow Up I've put off too long today.

Deni, sorry for the Boo Boo's; now the falling part? I've got that covered too. The last one was a dozy when I stopped and Bandit didn't. Very lady like split envolved and still didn't get a bruise! I even impressed myself, emoticon

I am trying to build my distance. Since I have limited time, that means I have to go faster.

Speaking of that - I was running Monday when I spotted a father wtih 2 small children. The kids ran onto the walkway right in front of me. Managed to avoid them, but took a spill onto the cement when I over corrected to avoid a tree. I am scraped up and SORE! Good thing I played goal keeper in soccer - I still know how to fall!

I have a $60 Omron pedometer that connects to my computer, can work well just stuck in my pocket, etc. I put it away for several months and now the battery appears dead and it's one of those flat/hearing aid kinds so I have to wander up to the drug store and hope I can find the same/right one. I may not for awhile though, I know what route I want to take, think I'll just walk it, to heck if it's X distance!

I'm doing okay; managed to walk last night (wanted to start walking yesterday), after dinner, about half a mile. I'm smoothing out a few wrinkles but making more as I go along, isn't that the way? (see my recent blog post)

Hi there. I am still hanging in too. I joined TOPS in January this year because I needed a place to go where I could be accountable. I have managed to take off 9 lbs. but have missed three weeks of meetings in a row. I gained back a couple lbs. - get kinda discouraged. The arthritis in my right leg doesn't seem to want to settle so I struggle with the exercise part. Will keep on trying my best - wish I did not like food so much either.

It still feels like I am just starting sometimes! My biggest problem is complacency - I get into a routine and stick with it. Just started trying to push myself a bit more on my running days. Complacency is a big part of what made me need Spark in the first place!

We're coming up on 2-1/2 years people. Can you believe we've been here at SparkPeople this long?

We could probably ALL use that kind of Nurse! Funny, while on Vacation I did just that- woke up everyday at the same time and got about as much sleep as I always did. Go figure? Since coming back we have to reaclimate to the TN heat and humidity and now working on the fluctuating wake up due to the DH 2 differing Jobs.

The Prescription Vit D helped my stomach and hair issues too!

That's good vacation was good for you, Shell!

I'm doing pretty good; the new D vitamin pill seems to be helping my sleep duration any any one time but not necessarily the start/stop of it, LOL I need a "nurse" to put me to bed the same time every night and get me up in the morning, same thing.

The heat is not a problem for me this year. For some strange reason here in So. California it has been much cooler that usual for this time of year. in . My dogs sure have been enjoying the dog park in the evening. Lorraine

Yeah, I'm still sitting in cool, dark corners of my living room too much too, LOL.

The exercise thing has been rough for me as well. It is SO hot outside when I get home. Since the kitchen remodel, construction people have been in and out so I don't feel comfortable exercising in the house. If I wait until it cools down, things pop up to interfere. Making it most days! The biggest problem is trying not to snack too much on the days I don't get the exercise in!

Lately I have been struggling to get my exercise in. My left knee has been giving me problems. I get so frustrated when I am exercising and I have to cut it short because of pain. I have been snacking more too. I do know that I have learned to recognise when I am off track and so far I have been able to correct myself. Lorraine

Yep - a bit addicted to FB myself (especially Farmville). But, keeping in touch with my friends and family plus a little 'mindless fun' has been a great stress reliever.

I'm here. I've lost and regained some of what I've lost but not all, am still much healthier and on my lifestyle exploration journey here at SparkPeople. I all but abandoned SP for Facebook last summer but decided I wanted healthy in my life more than mindless fun :-) so came back fulltime.

Still here! I have been in maintenance for a while, but I love my Spark friends and still need help staying on track.

I lost 60 pounds or so and currently maintain within a 5 pound range. I need to loose more at some point, but I'm pretty happy with where I'm at in relation to where I have been. I am staying with Spark and am now doing a lot (and I mean a LOT) of dancing. And I continue to track my food intake, exercise, etc. As far as I am concerned, I have changed my lifestyle and plan to stick with it. I slip up now and then, but then, who doesn't. Over all, my life style is a healthy one now, thanks to Spark!

I am wondering how many of us who started our weight journey in April-May of 2008. Odds are that there are not that many who have truly changed our lifestyle permanently. I continue to attend a support group for accountability. I also have registered with the National Weight Control Registry. I have been able to maintain my weight loss for 9 months without much effort by continuing to eat healthy, weigh myself and get plenty of exercise everyday. Lorraine
