Hi Margo,
My trip is not until March of 2014 but I'm sure it will come quickly. I almost have enough money saved up for the trip. Hope there will be more peace in that part of the world before I go. I will be starting up choir practises in September so there will be a little extra cash for me, however my regular higher paying job (support worker) begins to slow down as my availability becomes lesser when doing the music stuff. Sometimes I feel that I just cannot win, but at least I am happy! Good thing my husband works full time.

I got into my course and am busy preparing for that. All the kiddies are in school again; the summer sure flew past after we had that non-Spring cold and rain!

The holiday in Cape Cod was great. When's your trip, MaryBeth? Hope your music jobs have been fruitful. It's odd being retired and having similar amounts of money as when one was working but no chance of "extra" or juggling paychecks, etc. I do spend more sometimes but don't feel like I can "make it up", just do without somewhere else or something.

Have a nice holiday Margo and I hope you get the program you want.
This month will go by so quickly I'm sure. I have a wedding to play music for on the 17th. That's $100.00 I can put away towards my trip. I am going to try getting organized for my music jobs this month so that I am prepared when choir practises start up again in September.
Family reunions are happening for me at this time of year also - had one this past Sunday, then one on the 18th. In September comes another family reunion and then in October I have a niece getting married.

I'm on vacation this and next week; cannot believe summer will be almost over when I get home. I should learn next week if I got into the school program I wanted.

I am just getting back into my work routine - casual/call-in support worker, church organist/choir director. Still going to physio twice a week probably until the end of May. Hopefully by that time I will be going for nice long walks and getting a lot more exercise. I am taking a mini vacation for our Canadian Victoria Day weekend, just going to visit at my daughter's place, spending time with my one and a half year old granddaughter. My hubby is going off on a fishing trip - separate vacations seem to work well for the two of us.

I'm just back from a "working" vacation and trying to figure out where I want to go from here with my project. I have some health issues worrying me and want to see what I can do this month before I see my doctor the beginning of next month. I'm hoping it is just the weather and other issues causing problems but I want to lose a few pounds and get more "settled" than I was travelling around in January and February.

When December 1st hit my life began to get crazy busy. Tis the season for all those Christmas gatherings and much musical stuff going on. I have learned to say NO to some things because I simply cannot do everything. I am a very involved person in my community. I have never understood why every group seems to want to have a Christmas gathering - be it a pot luck dinner or just having an outing together. My body cannot keep up with all the things that need to be done at this time of year, so naturally I tend to come down with a head cold. This cold started just three days ago. Today I am really feeling tired but have tried to keep going. I am going to bed early tonight though to try and get some extra rest.
In January my husband will be having his top teeth taken out at hospital; in February I am having a total hip replacement. So there have been lots of arrangements being made for medicals. I did not do much Christmas shopping this year, just a basic gift for each grandchild. We had to have our roof shingles replaced in November and a bit of work done in the bathroom so I don't want to go into any more debt. Our weather has been good - no snow shovelling to do yet which is fine by me.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

This month is going so fast; next week is Thanksgiving! The weather just changed for good; no more Indian summer; cold, wet, and dreary today. The cleaning people come again today, we skipped a couple weeks because of the hurricane; now I have to run around here in a few minutes and collect towels and rugs from the bathrooms to throw in the washer and straighten up enough for them to work without having to deal with so much clutter.

This month is still . . . fleas. I was vacuuming before 7:00 this morning, DH's and my 23rd wedding anniversary; whoever thought "for better or for worse" would be fleas?

Interesting I posted previously in this thread on June 12 and here it is August 5 and I'm thinking the same thoughts. "It's not whether you have a difficult problem to solve, but whether it's the same problem you had last year/month/".

Anybody have anything interesting planned for Valentines Day? I brought and card and small box of chocolates for DH with me but don't think he has anything for me :-) Love having the moral upper hand, LOL.

We did the Mother's Day party at our place for ex-wife and her boyfriend and 2 of 3 sons and daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren. It was very pleasant, the weather cooperated and everything. It was actually three people's birthday celebration too, so there were presents.

We decided to hope Memorial Day here also, but just for sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. I hope the weather cooperates for that also, we have to have it on the Monday itself as one son works the weekend days. We'll have 4th of July next but that's all we have planned I think for this summer.

Mostly this month I have 3 medical tests to make sure my heart and kidneys are in good shape after my blood pressure scare of last week. I'll be glad to know those things (think I'm fine) as they might keep the doctor happy for a year or two :-)

Well, I had a stock that suddenly did well so I had my husband well it and asked could I trade the profits for a new fridge and we went and bought one this past Saturday so I'm content for at least another couple weeks :-) It gets delivered this coming Wednesday.

Tuesday I have my quarterly doctor's appointment and had a concern I was very concerned about and was wishing would go away and I think it did; I think it was related to what I've been eating/drinking and not doing (exercise :-) and I got scared enough a couple days ago to make changes and things are going better now so I think I've been scared back on the straight and narrow; at least know I've started recording my food again which I haven't for a long time.

I asked if I could get a new fridge with the bottom freezer before Mother's Day and was told we couldn't afford it yet so that's disappointing. I tried for a "medical emergency" reason :-) as it kills my back anymore to unload the groceries into the one we have but I guess I have to give DH a break after the last 4 months of spending, spending, spending. Hopefully for 4th of July, LOL.

They are coming to pick up the last of my old furniture tomorrow afternoon; then I will have to vacuum like crazy with my new vacuum and arrange what's left; the delivery the new pieces of furniture (queen sleeper sofa and two love seats, we gain a bed and 1 additional seat for guests in the living room :-) on Tuesday morning.

For my next purchase I'm looking to badger DH into getting a bottom freezer refrigerator. I'm tired of not being able to use the bottom shelf easily in what we have now and one of the drawers is permanently broken, etc.

I don't have that much energy :-) I threw out the pants and just decided I wouldn't buy from that store anymore. I'm going to use the throwout to help me lose enough to get in my old pants I have in the next couple months (lightweight, Spring pants).

I'm home from vacation and getting back in the swing of things. We've been working on bills/mail and I've done 2-3 loads of laundry and vacuumed (two cats left home for a month make for a lot of fur on the rugs!). I went to the grocery store yesterday while DH was napping and got enough to get us started, I made meatloaf last night and will make chicken and biscuits tonight, and a little pork roast tomorrow night or vice versa.

GG! You should also report to BBB- they will take actions to see they re-compensate U. Also the CDC- mold is too hazardous. And I'd talk to the Laundry Detergent maker too.

Hurricanes are over-rated; I've lived on the East Coast 96% of my life. Hurricanes are a summer problem, until November and we'd probably come down just for most of the winter, wouldn't be here when swimming was required, LOL.

I've spent the last two or three days trying to track down and fix a clothing problem. Apparently one of the pair of jeans I bought in January to replace the pair that had to be cut when I fell and hurt my knee Christmas Eve was full of mold/mildew spores from the warehouse that didn't show up until they were washed. All my laundry washed with them "caught" it and it took 2-3 washings (and each time I'd add "more"/different clothes so more would get infected) and a professional to figure out what probably happened, when I told her it was new. I sent a letter to the parent company telling them where I'd bought them and when and that I would not be buying any more clothes from them but they might want to fix their warehouse problem (turning the clothes?) so it didn't happen to other people so they no longer had "satisfied" customers. Maybe it was the store's fault, don't know; obviously the jeans I bought had been sitting around somewhere. I've still got a trace of leftover smell in all my other clothes but just threw out the jeans that were the carrier; they still won't stop smelling, even after 3-4 washings with hot water and strong detergent and hot dryers (and last try, laying in the sun to dry).

It was a "plus-sized" women's store so that has decided me (again) that I'm not buying any more plus-sized clothes. I'm changing my ways.

I'm down in Southern Florida, enjoying the warm weather. We've mostly been running around, looking at houses/condos to see if we can take advantage of the real estate situation and get a second, Florida home, for the winters. I haven't liked what is available "cheap" so upped the price and have been looking for a home we could move to instead. They have really nice, big homes with private pools and lake views for the same as our house in Maryland. But it's getting too hard to drag my DH with me and get him thinking along those lines. I may be through with that and just going to enjoy the next two weeks here.

I gave the last of the candy to the trick-or-treater I decided would be the last one - he was one happy turtle! Then I turned the lights out.

Have fun with the writing. One of my friends here is also participating in the NaNo.

Going to be MIA for a while - leaving tomorrow on vacation and will probably be overwhelmed when I return.

We went grocery shopping last night (our store is 24-hr. and I suddenly decided that I preferred and an empty store at 8:00 p.m. to one on Saturday morning? LOL) and I bought more candy but just gum and sweet tart sorts of things (that I like). I did take out all the Reese's Cups and pile them on hubby's table and replace them in the bowl with "junk". But the bowl started with stuff that's just too tempting to me; M&M's and KitKat bars, LOL.

I did get the decorations out front yesterday, finally, so I feel completely ready for tomorrow night; I even know I'm making something in the crock pot so I won't have to worry about cooking or eating while kids are coming to the door, I'll make dinner anytime and self-serve sort of.

U sould like me! Unfortunately, the DH was along for this yrs Trick or Treat shopping. It's like living with a huge RAT in the house. I've placed the stuff in an Enclosed Container in the Hall Closet. Odd times of day & night there this almost quiet rustling and shuffling of things in the Hall, emoticon

Sounding HOT! and sexy.

Everyone about ready for Halloween? I've been steadily eating the candy I bought, LOL, hope there's enough left for Sunday.

Let's shift to the Vent Thread and all yell "ARRRGH!" - the aggravated one, not the pirate one. Although ... running at them with a sword is occasionally tempting!

We can always hope? Unfortunately, the Minor Medical advised the DH to NOT do any strenuous activity until all this was checked over- not able to do until next week. So now he's gone from Comatose (still not working), to a Vegetable with a bad disposition wanting me to feel 'sorry' and wait on him hand and foot. Of course he still isn't following the Medical Directions at all:(

Why are most husbands like that? Mine is still healthy - although I see the problems coming. So far he is in the "walk it off" camp and wants me to leave him alone. Will it continue?

Emotional has become a standard lately for me too- cried in Sam's Club today. A very rude person who may or may not have been disabled decided to yell at me at the top of his lungs, a long story that when I cried he just 'shrugged'. The DH didn't help things either- I'm in quite a bit of pain and didn't want to be there to begin with, since he's in pain too- his issues take presidence of course.

Longer story on Spark Blog- needless to say, I'm burnt out and don't know how often I'll get here onto Sparks. I can barely take care of myself without help, and now I'm supposed to take care of both of us regardless- not fair and I don't know how it will end. The DH has notoriously disregarded my pleas & Drs to do something and take care of his health issues. I don't see him changing at all and don't think that he will either.

October has been difficult. It is breast cancer awareness month, and this year I find myself being very emotional. Perhaps this is because (in addition to hormones) I reached a milestone - being a grandmother - and my friend is not here to share it with me.

On a happier note - now that I have a working oven, I have been baking. There is something about the measuring, kneading, and aroma of fresh baked goods that is SO comforting. After a couple of tries that were less than stellar, last week I made a nut cake, muffins, and a poppy seed braid bread.

I've been doing some of the same you've mentioned. Surprised to find so many missing in action? I've also got additional Health Issues to deal with this week. I'll try to keep all informed- surgery on the wrist or worse may be closer than I thought.

I've joined a couple new teams and am cleaning up my friends on here and focusing on a few new goals. I'm doing pretty well, am creating the habit of "Noon" breaking up the day between coffee/internet and what's next by taking a 10 minute walk out front of my house. Just making sure I'm dressed well enough to go out :-) and putting on socks and shoes, etc. helps my mind switch over and think of more in-person activities.

This weekend is my community's fall yard sale so I'm getting geared up for that, sorting things and planning.

Those snacky arms, the serpent hands (which mine never seem like theirs), and the head movements? Some are one's the Chiropractor had me do every time I visited! Not to mention all that nice Breathing? It really does help- part of why I love Yoga too.

I have a lot fewer shoulder problems these days. Not sure why, but my guess would be that the snaky arms help you work out the tension in your shoulders, lubricate the joints, and strengthen the muscles. Plus, just having fun is highly therapeutic!

I have to admit to giving it a try- though my giggle doesn't seem to be as quick as the girls I watch on FitTv, lol. I have to admit also to being impressed with how its made a difference in my arms, neck, and shoulder pain- why?

Thank you so much for your kind words here and on my Spark page. I do OK - I will never be Suhaila Salimpour, but I love to dance!

I highly recommend bellydance (or any dance). It will improve balance and flexibility, keep your brain active learning and designing choreography, enhance your creativity, and help you to make new friends. Bellydance is also a great excuse for wearing costumes even when it is not Halloween!

Deni, I wish you all the best with your upcoming show. Your profile photo tells me that you are probably an amazingly wonderful belly dancer! I took some belly dance lessons and got to the point where I finally went on stage to perform with a group. I guess that was a first and last for me but you never know, I just might go back to it again some day. I do a bit of dance at home sometimes because it is such good exercise.

OK - where's the don't like button?

Hope you MIL is doing better!

Just crazy here - preparing for our big spring show and the arrival of Conner Gabriel! Made it through moving my son and my parents' 50th anniversary. Can't wait until mid-May when things (hopefully) slow down!

I've too much on my plate in this Life- most too long to post here but feel free to visit the Spark Pg. Friday, my Mother In Law was admitted to Hospital with a Colon/Urinary Tract Infection that is causing Bleeding from an unknown source- she has only the one Kidney as the other had Cancer many yrs ago. We are greatly concerned due to her age and that they want to do a scope of both areas Monday- U know all Drs home for the Weekend! So she has to wait it out and just thinking about this makes me cringe- I hope that we can verify that she will be asleep for this proceedure!

March has been a slow month for me work wise. I am a call-in. I have no trouble keeping myself busy though. It kinda feels like retirement to me - I get to sleep in every day and take my time doing whatever comes to mind each day. Last weekend my daughter was home for a visit. I am quite busy with music right now getting ready for the Easter season at church. Have had more time to get out and exercise which is a good thing too. emoticon

Definitely worth the time and effort! Even if I didn't pass on my info to my children, it has been interesting, like working a big puzzle. You feel a connection to history that was not there before.

Things I learned:
- a gg grandmother died in the 1918 flu epidemic and wrote a barely literate letter to her daughter asking about my grandmother as a baby less than a week before she died
- one fought in the Civil War and was stationed here in Charleston. Nearly starved to death so he sneaked off guard duty one night during an exceptionally low tide to harvest oysters not previously seen. This one also nearly burned down the family barn lighting farts with his brother
- one fought at Cowpens and Kings Mountain and had a bounty on his head
- one lost a leg at Sharpsburg

Sounds interesting. I used to think about doing some of the Research of Family, especially after my Parents died. But now that I'll be the last of the lineage it just doesn't seem worth all the time and effort.

I've been working for a long time on my genealogy site I just started a month or two ago. It's ambitious and complicated and I think will be my project to last me the next 10 years. I hired a researcher in London, UK and there's stuff going on in the West Indies and it's pretty fascinating to me, like reading a good multi-generational novel :-)
