Well I did a leg workout the day before that, so between the two of them... Let's just say that it takes a few seconds longer to sit down anywhere, hahaha!

Sore from rollerblading? I would probably be in a cast this morning if I tried that!

6/2 - 40 min walk, 30 min couch to 5K, plus strength training

5 min warm up, 30 minutes jog/walk (2 min/3 min x 6), 10 min cool down.

Spent over an hour walking on the beach. Nice shells today so I got some great leg exercises (squats)!

Friday I did some yard work (must be getting more fit - it didn't totally wipe me out!) and went for a 45 min walk at the beach (slow - walking with an injured friend).

Today, up at 6 and went for a 5 mile walk/jog. Then cleaned out the regular closet so I won't keep stumbling across things that don't fit. Tomorrow I hope to hit the bellydance closet!

It's not a marathon - only a 5K. I can easily walk this, so it is a question of upping the speed. Unlike back home, this is almost totally flat, so even easier!

Did my strength training today, plus 5 min warm up, 20 min walking, 30 min elliptical, 10 min cool down.

45 minutes on the elliptical.

I am a bit worried about the weekend. Going back home to see my new great-neice. It is so hard to exercise up there, not to mention there is usually not a vegetable at my parents (at least until the garden starts producing later in the summer).

Saturday I tried the elliptical - just a bit slower and shorter workout. Foot is still not up for it.

Dress rehearsal on Sunday - after the adreneline wore off, the foot REALLY hurt. Guess I might have to give in and have it checked.

Apparently! My younger sister used to be our designated sick and injured person, but she needs relief so I am stepping up to help out!

My husband just patched and painted the walls in the room where I practice dance and exercise. I have already dinged the walls practicing a cane number (he hasn't noticed that I also dinged the ceiling).

Sounds dangerous! I would probably let go and end up with a hole in the wall!

I'm a proud new owner of a 20 lb. kettlebell! I don't have the time or resources to do a kettlebell class in a gym, so I'm doing it at home with my husband.

One of the sites I found that I really like is called Art of Strength. Watching some of the videos, I really like the way the owner speaks and teaches. www.artofstrength.com/

The AOS kettlebells can also be found at PerformBetter.com with free shipping! And there is an intro package that comes with the AOS Clinic DVD. I got my husband the intro package with a 16 kg (35 lb) kettlebell. The DVD was backordered a couple of weeks and should be coming tomorrow.

I got mine from Target which comes with a CoreFit DVD. I was going to get me a 12 kg (26 lb) one from PerformBetter but chickened out! LOL

But, I was glad I got the Target one since we had to wait on the Clinic DVD. Anyway, this CoreFit DVD shows the basic six moves and comes with a short workout. The great thing is that in less than 15 minutes my heart gets pumping and my whole body gets a serious workout - I feel it in my arms, my back, my stomach and my legs! There's a learning curve to some of the moves but I think we'll be ready for the new DVD when it gets here. The DVD that came with my KB is really just an intro, not a full workout.

Can you tell I'm excited about it? I was really looking for something other than my FIRM workouts and this is definitely different. I feel mean and tough when I swing that KB!

There's a great KB SparkTeam called The Kettlebell Challenge. Check it out!

Thanks!

Do you own the kettlebells or do you use them at a gym? If you own them, do they have a video? I read about exercising with them and they sound like fun.

Saturday & Sunday: Out at the cottage, raked wet leaves, took several walks with my son up the hilly roads, hauled dead wood & broke it up, then decided to try to grade the dirt & gravel road around our cottage. Spent several hours with a garden rake, tearing up the road. Trying to change the slant away from our property. Made some progress, but tearing up a gravel road with a rake is hard on the hands! OOWWWW! My hands hurt so bad last night I had to take 5 advil to take away the pain. The silver lining...I have been strength training all winter so, I had the arm muscles to do it and no pain in the arms or back.! Also, all that work counts as calories burned & a cardio workout. I was sweating & my heart rate was WAY up the whole time!

Sunday - 60 min elliptical in the a.m. and dance practice in the p.m. We are doing a Saidi-style cane dance and it is pretty lively!

60 min elliptical, strength training.

MAGGIEODANAHER - My father doesn't sleep so well these days - unless he babysits the 4 year old grandson. Can't wait until my son and daughter-in-law decide to give me one so I can do the grandma workout, too!

So, Deni, you hiring yourself out as a mover now to make sure you get some good exercise? LOL

I babysat the grandkids, Tuesday, they're 5 and 4 and my husband's back wasn't 100% so I got the lion's share of running, going, doing, lifting.

I've been doing chores, grocery shopping and the like the days since. But now Spring's here, I can get out and do all the yardwork/gardening I need to.
