I'm doing a bit more music making than I really prefer right now because one of our musicians (organists) is suffering from shingles on her face and her eyes are almost completely swelled shut. She is very miserable. At any rate, I am filling in for her every other week-end and doing the World Day of Prayer that she was planning to do. Otherwise I wouldn't be quite so busy.

Hello - Mary, will keep your friend in my prayers. You sure stay busy with musical activities and you really seem to enjoy playing for your church. You have a gift many of us wish we had in being able to play the piano.

Jane, thank you for explaining why you get cold/hot. I had thyroid problems many years ago but I had the kind where you would lose weight. It was during the time I was going through my divorce from my first husband and I attributed the weight loss due to stress, unitl I went to the Dr. I had to have surgey and now take a thyroid medication once a day. Hope you get to attend some of the festivities that are going on in your area. Enjoy the day.

Today is a beautiful day so I got to go walking outside. Will probably go down and do the threadmill for a while, also.

Wishing everyone a very blessed day and be careful.

HUGS

Good morning all. The bunch of us do have our health problems don't we. I guess it goes with the territory to some extent but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

March definitely came in like a lamb in SW Wisconsin so I fear for the end of the month. Not that I'm superstitious or anything but March is definitely untrustworthy where weather is concerned.

Meeting with the choir director this morning to pick out music for our next couple of outings. Then I have to gather all our tax info as the accountant is going to pick the stuff up tomorrow. Until this year I always did my own taxes, but the accountant who does the taxes for my son's business will charge me less than I was paying on Turbotax and I don't have to worrty about making any mistakes so I am going to let her do them.

Then I have to attempt to clean up a little clutter as the rest of my week is pretty busy. Yesterday I went to visit my friend in the nursing home and she hasn't gotten any worse, but is at the point of having to be lifted from her bed to the chair with a lift and unable to walk at all. She seems alert and talks perfectly normally but then just drifts off in the middle of a conversation and you just have to wait until she comes to again to resume the talk. I don't think she has any pain so that is a blessing.

Hope you all have a good day.

Mary

Hafa Adai every one! It is Chamarro Month on Guam with many activities in the different villages, schools and the university. There will be an enactment of the landing of Magellan in Umatac Bay that occurred in 1521.

Lupe, no, I am not diabetic, praise God! Thank you for asking. I have hypothyroidism which is being medicated. The problem is that age, weight, stress and many other things can affect what the thyroid does or doesn't do. Some medication makes me have a low temperature (97.6*) in the morning and then a high temperature (99.5*) in the early afternoon. Got that changed and have been doing better until recently when my temperatures have really dropped. From what I understand my body may not producing Free t3 and the medication I am on does not provide it. If this is the case then I will need to take another medication so my body has the t3. Hopefully the bloodwork today will confirm or dispel the issue. At least I am not loosing my hair as I was awhile back.

Having hypothyroidism is part of my weight problem. It makes it easy to gain and difficult to loose. It can be done but is a challenge.

Sorry, got carried away.

Good Afternoon everyone. Hope everyone is feeling better. I woke early this morning with pain in both of my legs. Then I remembered I hadn't taken my Gabapentin which I take for restless legs. So I took that and was able to sleep for a few more hours. I received my chair exercise DVD's in the mail on Sat. I watched them yesterday and will do one this afternoon. They look pretty easy to do.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning - Sharon, good to see your post and I understand about cold weather affecting your bones. The weather does that to me, also. Have a good day.

Nola, glad you got the rain you needed and how nice to that you and your cousin have reconnected. Enjoy your day and be safe.

Jane, hope that with your bloodwork that Dr. can find out if it is your thyroid causing you to be cold so much. How is your sugar - are you diabetic ? When DD's sugar gets too low she gets very cold. Just a thought! Hope your body starts to feel better. It is no fun to be cold all the time!

Not doing too much today. Weather was cold this morning so did the threadmill and bike in our fitness center. Really getting to enjoy the threadmill. I am going to try to do that this week so when it is too cold/hot I can have that option for exercise. Did two 15 minutes sessions on threadmill and two 10 min. sessions on bike. Felt good afterwards.

Wishing all a good day and blessings to all.

Good morning all. It is a rainy, dreary day here and these old bones of mine are stiffer than a starched collar! Hope the weatherman is correct that the rest of the week will be nice weather. Maybe then my bones will stop complaining.

Had a great weekend. rain Saturday night which sounded so good on the roof. We needed moisture so badly. It turned to snow just up the mt from us.. and some other places around got snow, but just rain for us which was fine with me. after moving from Colo. I've seen my share of snow.

Had a nice day yesterday visiting with a cousin that is leaving on Tue to go back to Miss. for the summer. Hopefully be back this way next winter. We have just recently connected in the last few years. spent many summers together when we were kids then lost contact..50 yrs later, here we are having a good time again.

Must get to the gym this morning, then have a client this afternoon so need to get to moving. sometimes I sit down here at the computer and stay too long. I'm sure none of the rest of you do that.:-)

Happy Monday everyone. The sun is shining this morning so we are off to a good start here. I haven't heard a weather forcast lately so don't kow if it's supposed to be warm or cold. I am sort of hoping for some sort of disturband tonight or tomorrow so we can say March came in like a lion as the old saying goes, because I surely want it to go out like a lamb.

I played for Mass yesterday at 10:00 instead of my usual Saturday night. My granddaughter was a server for that Mass so it was a family affair with my daughter and all three gd's there. Also had one of my favorite singers, a good way to start my week.

I came home and my son and littles gd came for French toast and sausage for lunch and then I settled in with a good book to watch NASCAR, rode my exercise bike between the race and the Oscars and then watched the Oscars. I stayed up too late and will probably hate myself before the day is over but so be it.

I hope you all had a good week-end and will have a good week.

I have done a lot of resting today. I am getting blood work done tomorrow because my thyroid is not behaving itself and I have been really cold at night. I do not have air conditionig and I keep the fan off me when sleeping but my body temperature has been really low getting down to 97.1 the other morning. The low temperature woke me up and kept me awake for about three hours. I did get the heating pad and put it on my hips and then on down the legs.

Janice, I hope your legs are better.

Looks like the rest of you are doing OK although I am not sure if I would want Turkey Buzzards around.

Take care all,

Janice, thank you for telling us what your condition is with your legs. My BIL was diabetic and he had Neuropapthy so I can kind of understand your condition. In his last year he really suffered from this and that was hard not just on him but also on my dear sister.
Hope you can get some relief from this and that the Drs. will be able to help you. Prayers are with you, dear friend.

wishing all a good night and HUGS to all.

Oh what a lovely day it was .. worked in the yard, burned old plants from the flowerbeds, and went for a walk.

Definitely spring is upon us as all of my perennials are breaking ground ... and the TURKEY BUZZARDS came back to western Ohio today ....

Just starting to rain, a downpour for sure, and looks like we might get a couple inches or possibly more. Well, it is Oscar time ... good evening to all.

Hello everyone. Hope your Sunday is going well. I didn't make it to church this morning. My legs were acting up.

Lupe, I have a condition known as Ideopathic Peripheral Neuropathy. I see one of the top doctors in the field at Ohio State University. A lot of people with diabetes can get this but they don't know what causes mine as I am not diabetic. They can treat the pain somewhat but at this point there is no cure unless it happens on its own. So I do as much as I can and hope for the best. Best wishes to you. Janice

No feeling below the knees sounds serious! Do take care.

Nothing exciting going on today. We had Marathon Sunday today so went to Sunday School, church and then had lunch with the church family and came home.

Janice, how long has it been since you have not had any feeling below your knees. Does the Dr. know what is causing this and is it something that can be treated? Hope you start to feel better soon.

Wishing all a good night and restful sleep.

Good afternoon to all. I have been absent for a few days again. I had my yearly check-up at Ohio State and I have been feeling a little bit down. Feeling ia an ironic word because the problem is that I don't feel anything below my knees. My Dr. wants me to look into using hand controls. I am sure it could be worse so I just will go on. Mary, I hope if you have surgery that it will help. Carol, it is nice to see you back. A wonderful and blessed Sunday to all. Janice

Hello to all - Mary hope you are enjoying your day and I understand about wanting to read the ending of a book! April will be here soon and hopefully you can get your surgery in if that is what the Dr. is recommending.

Carol, welcome back and glad you decided to stay with this team. My name is Lupe, 66 yrs., married 37 yrs, 2 children, 7 grandkids and one great-grandson, Jeremiah Isaiah. If you like you can pics of some of my family on my SP.

Nola, is your area in AZ, getting some of the rain that the state has been having. There seems to be some crazy weather on the West Coast. Have a good weekend and enjoy it.

Did some running around with DH since it was a pretty day here. Got back and just going to take it easy.

Wishing all a good one and make the most of what is left of your day. HUGS

Hello everyone, I need to catch up with everyone. I got caught belonging to too many teams and couldn't keep up. So I left a few and will only keep up with the best.
I'll reintroduce myself. I'm Carol from Central Wis. close to Green Bay. I'm 64, married 41 years, 4 grown children, 5 grandchildren. I walk with a cane due to hip problems and I have Parkinsons. I do chair exercises and use a pedlar.
Today we have 3 grandchildren here and we are entertaining them while their mom studies.
Right now Grandpa is out playing in snow with 3 and 5 year old and 11 month old is taking a nap.
Have a great Saturday everyone.

Good morning all. I slept in a bit this morning. My computer developed a virus suddenly yesterday so I was computerless. I called my computer guy and he finally came about 7:00 last night and got it off for me and then sat around visiting until 9:30 after which I sat up until the wee hours finishing a murder mystery. Not smart I know, but I can do that on week-ends without too many consequences. I had to find out if they caught the bad guys before I went to bed.

Not much going on today. I don't play at church until tomorrow morning so I actually have a whole day to myself. Maybe I can actually get some housework done. I am getting bad about letting things go because when I do very much my back starts to hurt. If I am going to end up with surgery I would really like to get it over with, but right now can't even get in to see the doctor again until April 7.

Hope you all have a great week-end.

Hi, I've been to the gym twice this week. need to step it up a bit or at least get out and walk. It has been beautiful weather but somehow just didn't happen. dh wanted to go somewhere, and of course I go along, also had a couple of clients for CST. that takes about 2 hrs out of the day each with this special client. Now need to think of something good to fix for dinner.

Hope it has been a good week for you all and I sure hope to be a more frequent contributor of this site..

Good morning all! It is raining so instead of being out in my yard I am sitting at the computer.

Welcome to the gang, Melody! So glad you joined us and wrote on this forum.

I am going to a funeral mass for a long time teacher this morning and then a birthday party for a one year old this afternoon.

My body temperature is really out of whack this morning and so at 75* F, outside temperature and 80* room temperature I am cold because my body records 97.9. The thyroid is messing me up again. Night before last I woke up with it down to 97.1* and unable to go back to sleep until I pulled out the old heating pad and warmed up my hips and then legs.

Nuf complaining. Have a great day all.

Welcome Melody. My name is Mary, I'm from SW Wisconsin a 68 yo widow with four kids and 8 grandkids. I spend a lot of my days chauffering kids to and from wherever and I babysit my youngest gd a lot. I am a church musician also so spend a fair amount of time on schedules, playing for funerals etc.

This morning I played for my second funeral this week. I have had so many music outings of one sort or another and a couple more coming up in a two week period and all with different music that I am getting somewhat overwhelmed and I have little stacks of music sitting all over. Hopefully I won't get my stacks mixed up. I worked with a new soloist this mornining but it was a Catholic service and she is not Catholic and wasn't familiar with the Mass parts so the pastor and I had to do a little improvising. All turned out well though.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hello Everyone,

I don't know if I ever actually posted on here after I joined or not, so just in case, let me reintroduce myself. I live in SC and the weather here had been warm (in the 70's) for the past 3 or 4 days. Today it got really chilly, well it felt chilly with the rain (64). I have 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 20 to 21 months and I babysit the 21 month old on a regular basis. I need some encouragement to get out there and walk more, I was doing good and then I started lagging. Well, I will talk to you later. Hugs, Melody

I just love coming to this message board every day to see the total HIGH you folks are on all day long ... finally hit 40 degrees here so I bundled up and took off walking .. supposed to get some rain and snow soon so needed to get myself out of the house. Went out and got all my birds fed for the next couple of days ... well, birds, squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks - ducks & geese fly inside the fenced yard on occasions also. So soggy back there I had to wear my snow boots ... our little lake is just about all melted now which is a good sign we might be fishing by April when they close the gates and refill it to normal level with the spring rains.

Good morning to all - woke up to a cloudy day with misting rain so have not been able to walk outside but might go to finess center in our complex and do the threadmill.

Mary, if you get any more active, you will have to get a pair of roller skates to do all your errands. Have a great day.

Jane, I would love to see that rose garden in Portland. I bet it is a sight to see. Take it easy and get some rest.

My RA is bothering me some today so will try not to do too much - just resting for now.

Wishing all a great day and be blessed.

HUGS

I don't know about energy, I just try to keep busy. I don't want to be one of those people who vegetates into retirement. So far I have done pretty good but need to get this back problem resolved so I can be more active.

Today is my day to take elderly friends to coffee. Then practice up for another funeral tomorrow morning. Littlest GD is going on her first girl scout outing tonight so she's all excited about that.

I got a shock when I logged on to the start page this morning and saw the new format. I thought I had done something wrong it looked to different. I guess I will get used to it, but now I have to think about where some things are located. I guess that's good for my brain too.

Hope you all have a good day today.

Mary

Lupe, my favorite flower is the also the rose. There is a rose garden in Portland, OR, that is world famous that I love to go to. There was a very short hedge around many of the flowers the first few years my family took me there that I would step over to smell the roses. Then they raised the hedge so it was hard to step over... The hedge is now gone. I never picked any of the roses but smelling them is a must.

I have done too much for the last few days so when I got home this afternoon I had to take a nap before I could do anything else.

Winding down now and getting ready for bed.

Have a great day all.

WOW talk about a bunch of energy ... you all before me today sure keep busy ... did a little exercise on the WII for 30 minutes and then some band exercises ... watched a movie on NETFLIX while drinking my early morning coffee ... now I'm going to clean up the house a bit and hope the temperature rises about 30 degrees today (no chance I'm afraid) ... sure would like to hit the outside walking paths but since I'm just getting over my cold really good, better not "play" outside in the cold. Have a great day to all ...

Good morning - Mary you sure have a busy day today. That is good that you and GD have a special day together. Take care and be careful and safe.

Nola, good to hear from you and the workshop you attended sounds very interesting.

Jane, DH would always buy the seeds and plant the lilacs in our yard. They used to bloom very pretty so I guess Texas weather is okay for them. My favorite flowers are roses. Have a good day.

Did my walking early this morning and getting ready to go downstairs and see if they need some help in the office in our complex.

check back later!!!

Good morning. .. Haven't been here for several days .
Attended a wonderful workshop at a Monestary about an hr from here. was a 4 day workshop on Energy Anatomy. Very intense, long and fullfilling at the same time. I felt saturated by the time it was through..
Now back to the real world.

I have a busy day ahead. I play for a funeral at 6:00 tonight which is the same time I am supposed to have my littlest GD to school of religion so we will be doing some shuffling. The kids get out of school early on Wednesdays so she comes to hang out with me until time for school of religion. Even when I am not needed to babysit for her, Wednesdays are her day with Gramma and nobody messes with us.

I think I finally got the musicians schedule for church done up through Easter and all the music picked out, but this is my first year doing it without Carla and I sure miss her. She was the one who always knew what extras we needed for various special days and I have e-mailed the pastor three times in two days to verify things. He is grateful that I am doing this and very patient about answering my questions. Hopefully next year I'll know what I'm doing.

It's supposed to get above freezing today and actually be sunny at the same time so maybe some of the accumulated ice from the last couple days will melt. We can only hope. I envy those who are seeing tulips. I fear it will be a while for me, but I do have a nice big round bed with tulips, crocuses, daffodils etc. that come up in my front yard in the spring and it's very pretty when spring finally comes to Wisconsin.

Have a great day all.

Mary

Had another long day. Worked in the yard this morning for over an hour. Left the house after 1:00 p.m. to go to the bank to count money for Read-A-Thon. I get there early so when the person in charge gets there we can get the money out of the vault and have it taken to the room for counting. Left after 5:00 p.m. and ate a salad at Wendy's so I could go to Wednesday night church without going home. Went to the service and got home just before 9:00 p.m.

Lupe, do you have Lilacs in Texas or do they need a colder climate? So delightful that you have tulips blooming already!

Take care all,

Hello to all - Roc, thanks for telling me where you lived in Texas. Corpus is such a neat city. We were there about 3 yrs. ago and we also went to Port Aransas.

Mary, sorry to hear of your friend's condition. Will say prayers for her and her family and hopefully God will not let her suffer.

Jane, I too love Lilacs and Tulips. They have planted yellow tulips around our complex and they are starting to bloom

Wishing all a good day and God's blessings.

HUGS

I'll definitely smell the tulips and lilacs - neighbor has a lilac bush about 15-20 foot tall ... was snowing this morning and only 24 degrees today but expect it to warm up tomorrow.

So sorry about your friend, Mary ... will say some prayers for her comfort.

Sunshine in Wisconsin today. What a welcome sight even if it is cold and white outside. Nothing on my agenda today. I got a call this morning that my friend who recently moved to the nursing home and was settling in so nicely and seemed so happy is dying of kidney failure. I had talked to her last Wednesday and she told me she was sick and would call me back and never did. This is not unexpected, but we were all so encouraged by her change in attitude that we had hoped for at least a few good months for her. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

Still working on my musicians schedule. Too few people and too many spots to cover.

Hope you all have a great day.

Mary

Tulips! I went for years without seeing any live ones. One of the supermarkets bring them in now. Too expensive to buy though.

The flower I really miss is the Lilac and its sweet smell. When you see them in bloom smell them for me.

It is pouring down rain here and the wind is gusty and so I am going to curl up with a book or a crossword puzzle book. Tomorrow we are expecting a dusting of snow. Had a little bit of sleet yesterday. Glad it didn't start until I got home from church.

Jane,, This is one time I envy you living on Guam. It sounds so beautiful at times.

Mary, I hope that everything works out OK with you and your doctors. I see both of mine this week and next.

Lupe, I wish I could get out and walk like you do. I would probably fall flat on my face. My DGS is in San Antonio for his basic training in the Air Force. He is not allowed regular phone calls so I get my news second hand from his parents.

It may be a lousy weather day but otherwise I wish everyone a great day. Janice

Hello - Mary hope your Dr. visit is a good one with your neurosurgeon and that your regular Dr. can adjust your meds.

Not much going on with me - did my walking early as it is a beautiful morning here. Finished my breakfast and am going to start reading another book. Really did enjoy my reading during time we did not have our TV. Realized how much I like it and missed it as I had gotten away from reading.

Everyone have a blessed and productive day.

HUGS to all.

We got sleet and ice. Not a pleasant morning. Today I have to report in to my neurosurgeon on the success or lack of it of my last spinal nerve block and discuss where to go from here. I am assuming they will say make another appointment and then we will discuss surgery. I also see my regular doc today to go over my meds as they all need renewing. I am hoping we can adjust my diabetes meds a little as I seem to crash in the night fairly frequently and I am having nausea in the morning and sometimes all day since I started taking the one. New doc so maybe a new point of view. I also want to discuss the shingles vacccine and a colonoscopy. Not that I want one, but think I probably should have one. Being responsible isn't fun at all sometimes.

I got my kids safely to school in spite of the weather. We were the only school in miles that didn't have a two hour delay this morning so I hope everyone got there safely.

Not much else to report. NASCAR started yesterday and I told my 20 y.o. gd who is a Dale Jr. fan that I think she should think of switching her allegiance to the handsome young 20 y.o. who won the race in only his second cup race. She did agree that he was kind of cute. All in good fun. When she was younger her ambition in life was to be on Jrs. pit crew. Now she is a sophomore in college studying to be a social worker. Quite a change from a pit crew.

Have a great day all

Mary

Spring doesn't appear close to me as we got snow again last night, about 2 or 3 inches and there may be more coming tonight and tomorrow. I, too, am longing for spring.
