I am so glad I read this thread. I just added Sodium to my nutrient list and will keep a close eye on my salt intake.

I just read what everyone wrote about the struggle we all are having with this weight loss plan. But all was encouraging for me, to see we are all having the same kinds of ups and downs.
I seem to be at a stand still, but for this month of July I have changed goals again and just have to get better at keeping them.
I made a chart for myself and that always seems to help. As I check things off as I do them and then want them all done at the end of each day.
Thanks for all the encouragement, and saying that we can never give up, as it has crossed my mind lately.

Glad you could see about the portions like I did. I too have the measuring cups and spoons out on the counter with the scale. I can't afford to put them away and out of sight anymore!

Becky,
Oh My Goodness, how right you are! All the eating out we've been doing with our out-of-town company has sure added the sodium. Eye-balling the food doesn't work for me either. I had gotten "prissy" with the portion control as I've lost weight so now I'm back to keeping the measuring spoons and cups close at hand. Thanks for that reminder!

We are ALL worth every minute we spend on SP together or alone! It's the best site ever as far as I'm concerned. If I haven't already, I'm going to add you as a friend. Please feel free to add me to your list!

Jeanne,
You are so right! I had been skipping my recommended amount of water just because the kids from FL were keeping me so busy and out of the house! I did lose those 2+ lbs that I had gained during their visit. I've been slugging down water and measuring my food. I also had skipped my Curves workouts as well as the water jogging my so and I are doing together. All of that combined made for the 2 lbs I suppose. Thanks for your encouraging words. They came at a time I really needed to hear exactly what you had to say.

I either gained or stayed pretty much the same for several weeks. I made a BIG effort to drink all my water and walk (or exercise) EVERY day, and the weight started going back down. This seemed to turn the tide for me, but remember, muscle outweighs fat, so my may actually lose inches and gain pounds.

Hi! This was happening to me, too. I had to step back and take a look at what I was or rather wasn't doing.

First of all I WASN'T really measuring my portion sizes. "Eye-balling" wasn't working.

Then I realized that I WASN'T writing down everything that I was putting in my mouth. It could be as simple as a cracker, or a hand full of almonds. But those things start to add up.

Salt is another big one. Eating too much sodium is a big culprit to weight gain. So I put "Sodium" as one of the items to track in my Nutrition tracker. I WAS eating WAY too much salt!

So, step back and take a look. Don't give up! Don't EVER give up. You have already come so far and YOU are worth it!!

Please, don't get discouraged. First of all, don't weigh yourself every day, especially if you are working out. Secondly, I find that when this happens to me, it is usually salt-related. Be very careful how much salt you are consuming -- especially hidden salt. I have seen four pound fluctuations, and if that isn't discouraging, nothing is.

If you know you are doing things right, then it will show.

Good luck.

Don't be discouraged. Stay with the plan and you will soon see another loss. We get in problems when we get discouraged and give up.

I have confidence in you. You have made great progress so far!

It is a journey, please don't beat yourself up over 2 lbs. It happens to all of us at one time or another. Last month I worked out at Curves 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day and lost no weight but I did lose 5 1/4 inches so I couldn't beat myself up as muscle weighs more than fat. Take your measurements besides weighing yourself. That may help you to not get down on yourself.

When life hands you trouble slow down and stop to smell the roses. Life is so short, live like today is the last day of your life. Enjoy.
My name is Sherry and I am from Erie, PA but live in Ijamsville, MD for the time being.

Good Morning !
The way I'm feeling this morning, I could whine all day long! I've been so excited about this program because I haven't found myself hungry even once; haven't really gotten off the program for the six weeks+ I've been eating healthy. I've gone steadily done on the scale until today! I gained 2 lbs and can't, for the life of me, figure where I went wrong. The time I've been doing SP, I've come up against all kinds of temptations and odds. I retired this spring from teaching so along with the normal end of the year food fests at school, there were parties for my retirement, food gifts from my parents and kids and friends and on and on. Through all of that I stayed strong. Eating out I order salads, grilled chicken (or no meat), soups. I skip the chips at Mexican restaurants and salad dressings, fried foods and desserts. I've built character and motivation and strength and self-esteem in only 6 weeks. Today I crashed with the 2 lb weight gain. I need words of wisdom from all of you who are traveling this path with me. After all it is a journey with friends that keep most of us heading in the right direction.
