It is hard to believe it was almost 4 years ago that I found Sparkpeople. I have been gone for quite awhile and my weight started to creep up instead of going down. So I am back doing what I know I need to do, and with the understanding that there are a lot of friends out there, whom I have never even met to help me along the way.

Check out my hobby of sewing American Girl , Our Generation, My Life dolls, and Build-a-bear clothes and accessories. We are creating handcrafted jewelry, stocking sewing patterns vintage and modern

Other team members got me thinking how I've come along the last four years.

SparkPeople helps me be consistent. A place to check in and track my workouts has kept me accountable. I enjoy spinning the wheel and see my points add up!

I have noticed some weight loss when I join a Spark Challenge.

It's become a habit to exercise each work day and now adding weekend workouts.

I need to work on tracking my food intake. When I do I see more consistent weight loss.

I have learned alot about weight loss and getting healthy. I have changed my foods. Less processed and lots more fuits and veggies. I have weaned myself to only half a sandwitch and still feel full

I also have gotten off the morning caffeine addiction. No more bad headaches when I don't have my morning caffeine. Don't get me wrong...I still enjoy coffee and tea...I just don't have to have it first thing. Now I crave a tall cup of cool water.

The consistent exercising helps me reduce stress. It also seems to rev me up and jump start my day.

Guess I have come a long way in these last four years. Although the scale doesn't show a whole lot of weight loss....I had gotten up to 197 and now I'm a stable 184...the scales are moving in the right direction and I have strong legs...no flab on them. Working on feeling my waist again and my pants are looser...not so tight and binding. So I am making progress. Must be like the Slowest Looser...one small step at a time!

Thanks SparkPeople!

It's interesting to hear you say that about time, Ti--I also say that about meditation! It's true for everything from meditation to exercise, I think--we never find time, we have to make it! Glad to hear your master's work is going well.

Jersey, it sounds like you've laid out a couple of areas that you know are problematic. And with the 'too much drinking' fun time, which I also get into at times, I find it motivating to remember that drinking changes our brains in a way that decreases healthy sleep and mood, and increases stress biochemicals--which are associated with fat around the middle! Helps me to 'take days off' when I keep that in mind--I'm pretty protective where my brain is concerned!

G'day team, checking in from the far side on the pond!

4 years huh? Hmmmmmm I've been wracking my brains thinking what i've been doing for the last 4 years, and I haven't a clue!

Like a lot of you, I did really well the first year or two then last year I made some pretty big life changes, going to university to do my masters part time after work really killed off a lot of my 'exercise time' so I slowly regained almost 20lbs, out of sheer laziness if I'm completely honest with myself. This year I have started off pretty inspired to get back to my goal weight, where I was most comfortable with myself, around 18lbs lighter than now. I will be back to university in March, though only taking 1 subject because I have realised that keeping fit and healthy is more important to me than gaining my masters emoticon , so I am going to stay focused this time around on what is really important. It seems that 2011 was a year for me to deal with curve-balls, so i'm ready for 2012 to be a little easier!

Take care everyone and well done to all of us for still being here.

Ti

Ps: Jersey you never find time, you have to make it! emoticon

Hi friends!

This has always been my favorite Spark Team! Over the last four years I have been in and out of checking in with you all and I have had ups and downs. Went from 205 to 170, back to 189, back to 170, back to 189, back to 170, up to 194, and unfortunately, to be super honest, I am now back to over 200. I attribute this latest weight gain to hurting my foot in the summer and being told not to exercise by doctors, and also having had a ton of stress at work, and a recent change in prescriptions. And no doubt too much drinking. emoticon emoticon

My goal right now is to lose ten pounds and get back under 200. It would be nice to be able to celebrate 4 yrs with an accomplishment like that!

Deb, I have really fallen off with meditating... I would like to work 10 minutes back into my day again, but those ten minutes have been hard to find lately. I'll see.

Four years, that is crazy. The first six months or so, I did really good with losing, tracking, and so on. After that, I have been living in Ghana, India, London, away from Norway, so I've had to get used to different lifestyles, routines and so on, which has turned into yo-yo losing and gaining and maintaining, mostly maintaining and gaining.. But luckily I have stayed around the same, 165-175 lbs. But now, for this year, I am going to reach my goal (150 lbs), I really want to and I think I can do it! I am very motivated and I am doing good with nutrition and ST, just need to get into cardio and I think I will see the pounds "melting off"! :)

I know... 4 years seems like no time and forever, all in the same breath.

I have been thinking lately that I'm STILL DOWN 90 POUNDS and trying to celebrate that success. But knowing that I was down 150 pounds hurts a little yet! But I'm definitely making plans to change that in the coming year.

One of the things that initially tripped me up was that I was going so hard, so fast, so strict with myself... and when I tried to assimilate into "real life" I didn't do too well. I was maintaining, but not losing. And then injury, losing Cam, more injury, surgery, illnesses... I "fell down the rabbit hole" and started gaining, gaining, gaining...

But I have learned SO MUCH, even in this past month. I'm ready to move forward again. To care for myself and put my health first. I'm excited for the new year for sure!

My goal for our Anniversay is to be back down 100+ pounds. Totally doable - as long as I focus! Tracking, exercise, and NOT working 12 hour days - because they just kill me in every way.

Wow, has it really been 4 years??? I've been and gone... and am probably on my way back. Tons of research, and obviously years later, I am healthier. Once I find my way around the site again I'll be able to tell you how much!

Okay, update. I hit my goal about a year ago! 145!!!

Wow--four years is longer than I realized. That's a lot of life changes. Good luck on your goals, Swimman. And good work--almost nothing feels better than knowing you are there for your kids.

I have made some changes I was hoping for at work, and am happy with the changes and my job. Our family is doing well--and I have a grandbaby. Did a "bucket list " trip this past year, taking all the kids and their spouses to the beach for a weak--wonderful house, beautiful beach, great time.

I lost all the weight I needed, and probably a bit more--about 14 lbs. But have gained back 6 to7 of it. Which still puts me under my "drop dead" point, but I want to lose about 4 more. NOT back to where I was--it was really not right--but a bit further away from the edge. I don't like to be so close to that point!

So that's my goal for the next 8 weeks. to NOT gain during Christmas, and to lose about 4 lbs by our anniversary.

My goal for the coming year--stick with walking again, which I got rocky with this year--I want to be consistent. And I'd like to do Pilates this year.

And I want to move my meditation up to twice a day regularly, and more consistently practice mindfulness/welcoming during the day.

Oh--and to get my spending back under control!! Christmas has been a bit wild!

4 years is a good long time ... a little but less than an eleventh of my life!
Accomplishments first:
Started life as a single again after being married 18 years of marriage.
Lost 60 plus pounds - gained back 20 but I'm working on knocking off the remaining 16!.
Met a special person and we had a son, Ivan, 7 months ago - who is wonderful!!!!
Supported my (almost) grown daughter as a Dad when she really needed it.
This is a good start to all that I feel really "accomplished" about :-)

Where am I at?
Welllll, that's a big one ... needing to find a job, problems with my partner, dealing with the stress and depression from my situation, losing the weight I've gained back, living the active - healthy lifestyle that keeps me healthy and happy and involved all at the same time.

My goals for the next 8 weeks?
New job found first off, being there for my two kids, working on having a healthier relationship with my partner, and keeping up my RE - FOUND healthier lifestyle food and exercise wise!!! Numerically speaking, losing 12 pounds.

I want to be able to say in 8 weeks that I am continuing my healthier lifestyle and making all those improvements in the various areas of my life, including being conscious of what I eat and the exercise that I do.

How am I going to celebrate? I'll work on a hood answer for this one... I've got 8 weeks and a lot of time running each day to think about it :-D

So I got to thinking this morning about our upcoming four year anniversary on SparkPeople.

I know we don't have a ton of activity on this team anymore, but there are lots of active members out there - I see you on the Team Stream!

I think it would be great to take a moment to think about where we are right this moment, and about what we want to accomplish before our anniversary, which is about 8 weeks away.

That's sooooooo much time to make positive change.

What's your goal for the next 8 weeks?
What do you want to say that you've accomplished come Feb 10-16, 2012?
How are you going to celebrate your success?

Post your goals, accomplishments and celebrations here!
