Riley needs a lot of sleep - about 10 hours a night. We have a "pup tent" - looks like a hoop shaped camping tent - that she gets zipped into every night. If we don't put her in by 8, she gets very antsy. When we say, "Get in your bed", she runs down the hall as fast as she can and jumps in. She gets a little Breath Buster cookie as her good night treat. We drape the front of the tent with a towel (sort of like a parrot), but the back and sides are open mesh. I turn on classical music for her each evening to drift off to sleep with... During the day, she naps depending on what is going on and how far we've walked. In the warmer months, she is much more active.
"This too shall pass."

How much does your Schnauzer sleep? I think my schnauzer is pretty active. He plays most of the morning, naps in the afternoon, and plays with the family in the evening. He sleeps a bit more because of the season and not be able to stay outside for longer periods of time. I would guess that he sleeps 12 hours in a 24 hour period.
