Wow JM settings would be nice, but you can do the workout easy enough without them ( it doesn't really matter if you're off during her segments.) Our Curves has the JM workout available when people want it. Not everyone does it, however and sometimes they just leave it off. I like it and it can easily be done with the volume turned down when there's people who aren't, doing it.

Wow! That's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing that Semetcalfe. Last night at Curves they had moved the stretching machine and had extra recovery boards for sale. I'm going to ask tonight when they're getting the new machines because I bet it's soon!

My Curves got a new trial version of the Smart kiosk (to test it for Curves), that has a Jillian setting! I did the JM workout last night and timing was spot on. You are on the machines at 50% capacity and for 20 seconds, to save energy and time to get in position for the Jillian moves. Great!

I am a curves owner, we are loving the workouts. Reading through some of the comments here quickly. It was never meant to be used and played all day long, it is a class. Offered for a half hour at a time. We are doing them Mon, Tues and wed at various times and will add more as we go.

We also do Zumba in the circuit and body Basics toning.

I did the Jillian Michaels workout today. There are thing I don't like about her coaching style, yet her exercises do work. I do feel them, yet some of the exercise I modify.

I heard the same thing. People were upset that she showed so much skin. . If I looked like that I would be showing skin too. We don't have the new mats yet, so I am using the recovery boards for jump rope and the high knees. It helps for me. My new goal is to be able to do at least one full push up. I am still on my knees.

I just joined Curves today and had my first circuit training session for 35 minutes. This is going to be GREAT! Determined to lose at least 20 pounds by May 1, 2014. Possible? Have the Spark book and am committed! I don't know about JM she seems ruthless on Biggest Loser! Scary!

I'm very neutral on JM too. She's okay, but there's other fitness people I like better. But I agree. The workouts are good. I saw some people on Facebook complaining that's she's too scantly clad and that's why they don't like her. Personally, when I feel exhausted and like I may not finish that last 5 seconds, that's when I don't like her, lol. Although, in a good way.

As far as timing goes, you do lose a few seconds, but isn't that true before the JM workouts too? Has everyone been using the recovery boards a FULL 30 seconds every time?

I actually don't like Jillian Michaels, but I do like the workout. Fitness experts are always saying to vary your routine. The basic workout is the same, only what you do between machines has changed. Also, as long as they don't have her too loud you could just ignore her. Also, it's just a video clip so I would think it would be easy enough to just not play it all the time.

LOL Anniesusie.

Some women at my facility don't seem to like it either. So last night my Curves coach turned the volume of Jillian down and turned the music up, but left it on so I could continue doing the workout. My coach said that she's going to start doing the Jillian program at certain times now because 'so many' ladies don't want it on all of the time… interesting.

This is my second week with Jillian at Curves. I have to say it has caused somewhat of a turf war at our facility. Some of the women just hate having it on. I figure, so what? Just do your regular workout then and "change stations". The funniest comment I heard was a woman running in and yelling, "is she (Jillian) on? I couldn't sit on the toilet for 4 days! I love it". I did my regular curves smart workout last night and had significant improvement in strength. I need that boost for sure.

Loved your blog comments. I really liked the comment about the heartrate while trying to keep up with the video changes. Very true! However, it works out fine if you fall behind the Jillian segments. Im not as sore today ether.

I hope everyone is having a great day. My Curves coach decided to surprise us with the Jillian Michaels workout yesterday instead of Wednesday. I agree that timing will be somewhat of an issue but overall I LOVED it. It's just the extra boost that Curves needs in order to remain innovative. My curves coach said that they are going to work on that timing issue. They are going to change the videos every month and so hopefully they can work out the timing so you can do the equipment part with the keys and make it count in the computer. In the meantime, I am so sore today. Holy smokes.

You are so right about the timing. The first day I was totally lost. Today it was better but I was still off. I mentioned it to my coach. Guess, I wasn't the only one confused. Curve's eventually will get it fixed, I'm sure. New things are always going to have bugs in the system.

It's true, I think Curves definitely needed a makeover. The "Jillian" workout does not work with the Curves "smart" computer keys. You can't time it that way at all. You'll be late for all your videos. So my Curves coach recommended using Jillian on you cardio days and the Curves smart on your strength days.

I did my first Jillian Michaels workout Monday there. It was the first day for the club. We're starting slow, Monday nights, Wednesday afternoons, and Friday mornings. Our owner is closing the other club she owns and once that is done, we'll have more. It was tough, but fun. I was nervous. Really nervous. Four months of doing regular workouts and then this... but it was good. I think change is what Curves need to keep being effective. And it always optional! Even if you show up for a class. I have been so sore since Monday though. Ouch!

from cheri (new member): What can I say? This is my first post (other than introduction) and my Curves Center started Jillian Michaels this week. She is but so awesome! You will love it. Of course, I was somewhat sore today. The new web portal is also great. But it does have some issues (they're working on it.)

Hi,
I have been going to Curves now for around 3 months, 3 times a week. I wasn't going to re-join as my weight loss was slow, but I have to admit, I feel one million times better and stronger. Plus, no injuries.
So I tried the new Jillian workout at Curves. I am thrilled. I was really worked and loved that it still incorporated the circuit. My Curves is very close to my house and although it's hours are limited, I can still manage to swing in there at least 3 times a week. There are modifications also in the workout, although they really want you to oush yourself with a goal to the more advanced moves. Needless to say... I re-joined.

I actually went and joined Curves yesterday and the owner told me that on January 15th my center will be getting the Jillian Michaels workouts. However, she said that they will be doing them at designated times so that everyone doesn't have to participate - I don't know if this is the same at your center. But YES, Jillian is coming to curves and I'm excited about the new challenge. This will definitely help step up the workouts so far as cardio is concerned. After I do it, I think I'll post a review blog or post.

Everything I know is Second Hand since My Curves closed last year and there is not one close to me anymore.
As I understand it, the Machines will be the same, but the Recovery Boards will be replaced by Mats where you do various exercises at 110% Exertion. The mats will be thick enough that Ladies with Knee Issues should be able to participate? The exercises on the Mats will change every month?
Also the Curves Clothes will have Less Advertising and More Spandex on them.

So as I was working out this morning, the owner told us she had some exciting news. She said that a lot will be changing soon and that Jillian Michaels is teaming up with Curves. She said I will love it, but I've seen Jillian's workouts and they scare me! Anyone else hear about this??
