this is an excellent thread and gave me the giggles. i almost snorted coffee all over my screen! i too married a 'rugged' bad boy looking man who is a big softy and old fashioned too! i am not a 'feminist' per se...so i appreciate his old fashioned ways.

LOL Cathy too funny.. Yah my hub is wonderfully clueless about his looks. Only a certain type of woman goes for him.. the ones who like a man who looks really rugged and masculine.. and or umm bad boy. For me I actually chose not to date him for 3 1/2 months because I thought he looked "too bad boy"! lol
HearthHealthy... Yes it was an ego boost for hub although he was a bit embarrassed by it. I tell him all the time young girls are hitting on him. He thinks it's creepy that they must have a Daddy thing as he puts it. He is only 45,but he feels he looks older as his hair grayed and grizzled (balded a bit) after his years on chemo. His face is so nice though and those gorgeous amber eyes tend to grab your attention. He doesn't see it which is fine with me because usually the guys who know they are attractive are not so pleasant!! lol
Reeku.....socially awkward.. mostly yes he is. A lot of it though was being raised by a couple old enough to be his grandparents vs his biological mothers age.. my MIL is 88... and was his foster mom for years until she adopted him. So many of his mannerisms are very old fashioned. I love it that way!!
Harley.. yes some harmless flirting is good.. for us to realize that our spouses are still quite attractive and desirable..grins.. helps fuel the fire..although since Hub and I are still fairly newlyweds (2 yrs this Nov..together 4 yrs total)... I tend to still have the hots for him..
I love it! My husband usually has no idea when a woman is flirting with him. When I say anything, he tells me I'm imagining it! But if a man had touched my hair, let alone traced my tattoo, he would have knocked the guy out! Sometimes it's nice to know that strangers find us attractive. It keeps us from taking each other for granted.
Great stories, ladies!

Haha! Fabulous!! Its definitely always a tricky subject to bring up tattoos with someone else - I've experienced both sides of that. It seems like your husband is as socially awkward as I am - I never have a clue when people are flirting either! Most people just want to talk about tattoos, artists, etc - but then there's just some people that take it a little too far and I have to throw in one of those "oh yes, my husband loves my tattoos as well" kind of statements, it usually gets the point across real quickly!

LMAO! Awesome :) Hubby got a slight ego boost and flirty girl got knocked down a peg. Good times :) Tattoos just bring it all together. lol... thanks for sharing! :) hehe
Once, I was in a store and a guy noticed the one on my back (not sure how he saw it with my hair down, etc...), but he proceeded to move my hair and trace it with his finger! I mean, if it was someone I knew, it would probably be pretty erotic and he was super sexy (totally tattooed up with sleeves and such), bright green eyes, really tall and super muscly, but... a stranger none-the-less! Anyway, so during his tracing, he was asking about the tat and I said "my husband got me that for my birthday" and he said "what about your boyfriend?" I was like "huh?" He said "I could get you another one for Christmas..." LMAO! I was like "oh, umm... no thanks" and walked away. HAHA See how different men and women can be??? LOL! Good times!
My husband has two full sleeves, back work and chest work.. His tatts on his arms are always visible and usually when he's out and about he'll get comments and or compliments. People with tatts tend to notice others with them... Just the way it goes.
Well the other day on his way home he stopped at the grocery store to pick up some things for dinner and to grab me bandages for my boo boo toe! Into his first aisle he noticed a younger woman (mid 20's) with a gorgeous sunflower 3/4 sleeve. He said nothing as he felt awkward asking her about it. (in general my hub is shy when it comes to talking to women, it's a manners respect thing he was raised with and takes very seriously). A few aisles over they bump into one another again.. she looks at him smiles, and they part ways.
Once again bump.. this time in the bandage aisle as he grabs supplies for my wounded toe. Finally he decides it's worth asking her because he know show much I would love this piece. She lights up as he asks her about the tattoo... tells him she got it at the shop I plan to get my piece at .. woo hoo..go Jeff (the artist I want)... to which he responds.. It's such a great piece.. I know my wife would love that. Young girl turns away in a huff, lets out a sigh and walks away!!
Hub was mortified.. he realized belatedly she thought he was flirting with her..
