Thanksgiving Day was great I didn't over do it, never even felt full enough to bust. I had an after party to help get rid of all my junk, instead everyone brought desserts and left them. I should have tossed them, instead I ate them. I feel fat and like crap :(

CRYS, we all have bad days/weeks. You have recognized that you had a bad day. But there is good news. Today is a new day. Keep making the small changes and you will see results. I have been strugglng with my weight for about 5 years. A little over a year ago, I was in a accident and have drop foot in my left foot as a result. I regained alot of weight that I had been keeping off. However, I am following my own advice and starting over on a daily basis

Had a great dinner with friends yesterday. We had a few good laughs and had a delicious meal that put me well over my calorie limit. Looking to stay within the limits today and looking to walk most of the overage in calories off from yesterday.

I'm tired and I hate unpacking! Unpacking is the problem with vacations. When you get pack, you have to unpack your crap. I'm the same way when it comes to unpacking boxes after a move. I went to a fusion flow class today and my muscles got a great workout. I'm pumped about doing cardio kickboxing tomorrow. Still trying to avoid the scale but I think I do feel smaller, clothes fitting better. I don't measure but when I go to my study appointments they measure and weigh me. My next appointment is August 16 and I really want to impress them with a big loss. We'll see!

Good for u Joanna. Yeah, the scale is just a number. Believe me, I had to learn that too. I look for other indicators now too. How do your clothes fit? How's your energy level? Do u take measurements? Sometimes measurements show a loss before the scale does. I used to "peek" all the time and all it did for me was to get me anxious. Don't bother with it. Concentrate on how your body feels instead! Taking it easy when you're sore is def a good idea just keep on trackin those nutrients! Good luck to you!emoticon

Today I'm taking it easy since I had a hard workout yesterday and my muscles are really feeling it, good right. My eating has been good I have been under my calories and I'm waiting for the weight to come down. I should stop checking the scale so much and just let it happen I'm just so impatient for results.

Doing some deep cleaning today at my house. Getting rid of some much unneeded junk! Dusting furniture that desperately needed it! They're still painting my cabinets then it's on to my walls. That's gonna be a project. But if we all work together it'll get done!!

I've been staying in my ranges. SO, that's good. I treated myself to a small can of MT. Dew today. Not much in carbs cuz I got a little can. Eating well and it's showing. I've still got the mini goal of losing 7lbs by August maybe 12 or so. As long as I lose em I don't really wanna date it. But I'm anxious to lose em. I'm on a roll. I've lost 7lbs. so far so I'm in the right direction.emoticon

Hi everyone I'm still struggling to get off the pounds I gained by eating cake on my mothers birthday. I'm beginning to think its a bad idea to have cake at all since I don't seem to be able to control myself around it.

Courtney-I'm glad the pain has subsided I'm sure you will get your walking in now. I think the big drop in weight was probably water. I keep sodium on my nutrition tracker so when I will now when I may be retaining water. I quit smoking one year ago, I think you have make the commitment and believe in yourself. There are also medications now that can help you with quitting you may want to ask your doctor about it. You need all the help you can get right. You can do it just believe it.

Morning all-

Pain has subsided at injection site and neck is still ok. I did walk last night but only got a mile in instead of two. I had to listen to my body and stop I began to get pain in my back. So, today I'm gonna aim for 2 again.

Question--I weighed in yesterday--no change still 220. I weighed in today (same spot, same clothes, after pee) and it said 215. Gotta be water weight, right? I couldn't have possibly lost that much fat in one day, can u? Any input would be great cuz I'm confued. I stepped on 3 times and got same reading. I usually don't weigh everyday but I felt kinda "light" so I was curious.

Any smokers in here? I know it's living healthy room, but I'm curious. I still smoke but I've decided to try to give it up. TRY being key word. With trying to lose weight the healthy way it just doesn't fit in to a healthy lifestyle.

Well, hope to hear from u all later...Courtneyemoticon

Hi everyone I just got a gym membership last week and I have been trying to work up the courage to start the classes. I just get so anxious about going in for the first time, maybe tomorrow will be the day.

Courtney-I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain I hope it subsides sooner rather than later and you are able to get back to your routine. I have to have a spinal tap next month and I'm not looking forward to it.

um...I'm trying to deal with the pain at my injection site where I got a shot into my spine yesterday to treat the pain from my osteoarthritis. I should be good as new in a couple days, but from the day I get it until that time..It hurts like crazy. Kinda weird, a shot to take away pain actually hurts for 2 days. Probably cuz it's in such a sensitive spot. Neck spasms have subsided too, thank goodness. The last 8 days were hell. Between my back and neck..UGH..Luckily doc put me on new muscle relaxer and I got my shot. Should be helping anytime now. Weighed in--still the same. No gain-no loss. Not surprised. Exercise has kind of taken a back seat to the pain. Hoping to get my walk in tonight. Supposed to hit 98 so I'll be going after dark. Usually go 2 miles. I'm gonna aim for that but I've gotta start off slow to get back in the groove. May only do 1 and that's ok I'll be back up to 2 in no time. Eating has been in ranges so that's good. Hope all is well with everyone!

Good for you Jen! The heat in the Northeast is really starting to wear on me! I hate extremes... over 85 or below 15 and I just get cranky!

Maranatha32,

There are so many people out there that have no idea where to start such a venture for better health. Most wait and see what others do before they are inspired to do the same. All it takes is that one person to lead and others will follow. Lead by example! It is such a great feeling to know that your actions inspire those around you! Keep up the great work!

When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you'll be successful. How bad do you want to reach your goals?

Well, Im in my 30s but Im not feeling so healthy. I weighed in yesterday and gained 2lbs. I own it though. Last week was filled with mindless eating junkfood and lots of empty cal foods with little exercise. Kind of in a funk. But my body was def giving me signs. I felt so tired. I should have listened and MOVED but nope..Time for some serious change. Yesterday I stayed right in my ranges and ate very healthy. I walked 3 miles and Im hoping that will be a good start to my week. Hoping next weigh in will show a loss. But, on a better note, Ive lost 6lbs. since joining in April. Thats not bad.

My other issue, and please tell me someone else has gone through this, I can't sleep. I go to bed around 9 and Im up around 2. Im just not tired. IDK whats going on. Md has prescribed sleeping pill because Ive had this prob before. Obviously it's not working. Ive tried everything I can think of. Her latest advice is to take the pill every other day. Well, I tried that and NO LUCK! Ive been up since 2AM...Im not tired during the day either. UGH..I see her on thurs. and Ive been keeping a chart so maybe she'll see what Im talking about and put me on something that works!

So, hope all is well with everybody!

My sister is in her 30's as well and she said she's found it so much harder to lose weight. I've been exercising a lot more but not losing much at all. But I'm eating more. Sigh. I know that if I can just eat right with the exercise I'm doing I will lose weight. Maybe it will be tougher than it used to be but the laws of a calorie stay the same no matter our age. It takes a certain amount of energy to burn a certain amount of food. I've seen a number of older individuals on this site who've lost significant weight. If they can do it, so can we!

This is not easy at all... But is something we have to accomplish for ourselves and the ones we love... I know the feeling you all have been talking about... I have almost 8 weeks working out and I have lost just 4 pounds so far... Every time I weight is discouraging for me.. But also it's absolutely true that our bodys don't react so quick as before... I had a long long time without any exercise and started with the program "10 minutes trainer" and walking one hour every time I could... I think, in fact that whatever you do during 30 days, is going to turn into a habit... After those 4 weeks although I was not losing weight, I started to feel better and looking forward to the workout the next day.... I recommend A LOT start with a program easy to stick with.. Something fun... Something that you feel you need to find time to do every day... And well.. About eat clean, I'm with you all.... It's SOOOO hard... I still crave a lot of things... But now, when I eat them, my tummy gets upset, so that's something good for me.. Well guys, let's do it.. One day at a time... Every day is a triumph and at the end will be a very positive change in our lives.. Looking forward to hear more from your experiences on the way to the change.. emoticon

I know how you feel. I just turned 30 in March and my body doesn't recover as quickly as it used to from intensive workouts. You just have to toughen it out in the beginning and your body will start to feel different once you get in a routine. Good luck with your workout and I look forward to hearing about your future success!

I didn't make it through my entire spin class this morning. It was my first time and I've only been working out for 3 weeks. I am feeling physically better, but today I was feeling discouraged. It feels harder at 30 to be like I was in my early 20s and I hope that this sluggishness doesn't last forever.

Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.

Loosing weight, the healthy way is very hard, but I'm going to stick with it. Still I've only lost a small amount of weight, but at least I haven't gained either. Why is it that food that is unhealthy for our bodies test so good:-( . I have been making healthy recipes and they are good, but why do I still crave french fries and hamburgers.

I've been thinking about my goals as the end of the year wraps up. I've been working towards losing weight since August. I still have about 20 pounds that I want to lose. However, my vision is shifting.

About 2 years ago, I lost 50 lbs with Spark. My vision the entire time was to lose the weight. Once I reached goal, I lost the motivation. Money became an excuse (couldn't afford the gym), but really it was how I was looking at things. I've learned over the past 4 months that I don't need a gym. I've already lost 20 pounds through walking, running, and circuit training (with Jillian Michaels DVDs). I also strength train. I try to eat the right foods, and don't "punish" myself when I don't.

I've decided that although I still need to reach certain goals to lose the weight that I want to lose, I need to start focusing on healthy living. Changing my vision from weight loss to healthy living will help me reach goal (and maintain).

I'm really struggling with my pregnancy weight gain. My doctor thinks it's an okay amount, but I have to do everything in my power not to freak out every time I have a check up and have to get on the scale. It's definitely been a mix of emotions watching my belly grow since prior to getting pregnant, I was at my lowest weight and body fat percentage ever. Anyway, I'm trying to focus on the beauty of my belly rather than thinking about how fat I feel.

I'm only 2 lbs' loss away from a big landmark in my journey toward better health and fitness. The idea of being on a team and helping my teammates with points is a nice new additional boost to my motivation level. Being almost divorced, 34 with 3 kids, a ground level job and no prospects for my own home or vehicle in the near future, I sometimes don't see the point in looking any better - my romantic prospects are slim to none. But when I feel a new burst of energy to play with my kids or feel young again, I'm reminded that this is not to win anyone - it's for me, and for my children. :)

LCMCCREE thanks for your response to my post. It isn't cool but it is human! - Comparing and sizing up where we fit in. I am trying to cure myself of this very bad habit before it gets out of hand. A bit more work on my affirmations and consciously working on myself for myself without giving in to comparisons is how I plan to fight it. ... Staying away from fB and magazines with unrealistic images too. Just until I have gotten it through my thick skull that all I am is all I need.

You are not alone :) we never really are. There is always someone going through something similar to what we ourselves experience, I guess we just have to be brave enough to talk about it, reach out and learn from each other. Sorry you didn't get the news you wanted at your check up but I'm sure you will meet your goal! Enjoy the journey and Celebrate you too! emoticon

MH2SHEL... You are definitely not alone! I think it's safe to say that sooo many people do exactly what you do.. "comparing ourselves to others!" It's really not cool or healthy, but it is true. I've been avoiding fb a bit this week myself. To make things worse, I went to the Dr. today and found out I am a few lbs heavier than I thought I was. Can I tell you that I almost went into panic mode?!?!? Simply put, I get on fb and get depressed b/c I am single, no kids, not much family to speak of, and fewer friends than I believe I should have. Then, I remember that everyone has their thing, and the people who don't are narcissistic and equally as unhappy from time to time. Celebrate you honey!! I'm elated that you left this message because I honestly thought I was the only person who felt this way. Have a great night and an even better tomorrow.

I am trying my best to change my mindset today. I have been reading all of your post and they are so positive. I will try to keep this one positive too - but honest. I am going to stay off of my facebook for a week. I have this horrible habit of comparing myself to my friends on facebook and always coming up short. I can't keep doing this. It is unhealthy. Am I thinner than x, more or less accomplished than y? These are my friends and that is no way to think of them or myself. What is going on with me? It's like in an effort to improve myself I am becoming competitive in an unhealthy way.

Anyway I am just going to avoid my facebook for a week, try to stop comparing and just focus on self. Focusing on regrets and comparing myself to others won't help. I can't change my past or be anyone other than myself. I just have to accept that I am good enough just being me as I am right now. I'll get there.

I am in awe at how quickly our bodies transform when we remove some of the junk from our diets! Three months ago I was drinking about 3 cups of coffee per day, and about 2 glasses of tea. Today I'm drinking between 7-9 glasses of water, maybe a cup of tea and haven't had 1 cup of coffee! I have no idea how I cut the coffee out, but I'd like to add that I quick cigarettes cold turkey in January after 10 years!! I'm running and I'm healthier as a result of partaking in what's good for me! I'm 34 and am on my way to being more fit that I've been in about 10yrs. Come on 30 something's.... start loving our lives!

Feeling better mentally today. Although my side has been hurting. Tomorrow I will get up early and walk with my daughter. That will be nice.

I have such a head and neck-ache! Can't figure out why. Need to spend some time stretching and breathing deeply tonight.
