Think about this with me for a moment. If we do not stand, Satan will certainly take everything from the church he can get his hands on. If he takes away the Bible, what will the following generations eat? If he takes away our desire to witness, who will tell the Good News? If he takes away our will to pray, who will call on the Father and stand in the gap for this world. If we do not fight, then we will certainly lose those things that give us power and make us great for the glory of God. If we do not fight today, then people starve tomorrow. If the field is not protected now, those who follow will have no harvest to enjoy. DID YOU KNOW? There are some things worth fighting for! So it is in the church! We could just stand back and watch the church go the way of the world. We could just run away and hide while the enemy tramples everything we love under his feet. Or, we could decide today that we will take a stand! We could make up our minds that we are tired of seeing the devil hinder the work of God. We could resolve in our hearts today that there are some things that we worth fighting for! DID YOU KNOW? When does the enemy come against us? Often, he will come in the midst of great blessing and great victory. Often, he will come when we are involved in doing wonderful things for the Lord. He will come when our minds are occupied with other things. What a lesson for the church! How many times do we find ourselves engaged in the busy work of our lives and in the busy work of the church when we come under attack from the enemy? I think that too often, we are like the church of Ephesus, they were busy for the Lord, but they did not even realize that the enemy had inflicted a mortal wound in their heart. They were so busy doing good things that they did not see the enemy when he attacked and wounded them. DID YOU KNOW? Regardless of what the day may bring into your life or mine, we can rest assured that He will secure us in the present. Thank God, we are the partakers of His divine providence as we move through all the valleys, trials and burdens of our lives. God works in our present, just as He has in our past. Whatever comes our way is part of His plan and is a product of His love and blessing upon our lives. That same blessed assurance belongs to us as today. DID YOU KNOW? David enjoyed what we all long for: absolute victory! I would just like to remind us that the same God that strengthened David is the same God Who has promised to strengthen us! He is our Protector. He is our Preparer. He is our Promoter, He has promised us the victory. Regardless of what you face, know that God is always leading you toward victory in your life and one day, He will allow you to sing the same song of praise the David offered. DID YOU KNOW? God had enabled David to enjoy victory over every enemy. David had been able to achieve the impossible time and time again because God had sustained him through every test. Whether it was a lion, bear or giant, king, soldier or son God had allowed David to experience victory over every obstacle he faced in his life. The saints of God enjoy the same kind of relationship with our Father. In times of temptation, He gives us strength to overcome. In times of testing and trials, He supports us with His presence. He sustains us with His power. He supplies us with His promises. Thank God He is a God, Who sustains His people! That ought to fill our hearts with songs of praise! DID YOU KNOW? David called on the Lord and God heard his cry and delivered him! There were many times in David’s life when the gates of the cities of men were closed off to him. There were times when he could not go into Jerusalem, nor could he run to the Tabernacle. But, even when the cities of earth were closed to him and offered no help or hope; the gates of Heaven, and even the very throne room of God was opened to his cry. When he lifted his cry to God, God heard him and moved in power to help him! This is the kind of blessing all those who know the Lord enjoy! DID YOU KNOW? Our King, the Lord Jesus, is also returning one day? He is coming, (John 14:3; Rev. 22:20a), and we are to be looking for that time when He will return, (Matt. 25:13). We should be longing for the day when we hear that heavenly shout and the trumpet of God – (1 Thes. 4:16-17; 1 Cor. 15:51-52). Our soul should yearns to hear the "Midnight Cry", when it shall be said, "Behold, the Bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet Him." That is the day we are living for. The day when we will take a “ air ride" to a better country, and cheat the undertaker at the same time! DID YOU KNOW? True dedication manifests itself in a life that wholeheartedly follows the Lord Jesus Christ. It doesn't worry about the cost or the consequences. It is enough that the Lord has saved that sinner and has called him to follow. He is willing to leave all behind and follow the Lord wherever he leads. Such was the case with Abraham – (Gen. 12:1-4); with Peter, Andrew, James and John – (Matt. 4:18-22). True devotion doesn't ask why, how, where, what or when. True dedication to the Lord Jesus simply responds by saying, "Yes". DID YOU KNOW? TODAY’S THOUGHT

When the child of God stops and ponders just what God has done for him through Jesus, it is plain to see that we have more than abundant reason to love Him with every fiber of our beings. John reminds us that our love for Jesus is rooted in the fact that Jesus first loved us. Yet, we need to dig a little more deeply! Think of what you were and how you have sinned against the Lord God. If you and I got what we deserved today, we would all be in Hell right now. If we received justice, we would have been forever separated from the presence of God. However, through Jesus, we have received grace. Now, because the Lord loved us to the extent that He willingly sent His Son to die for our sins, and because He willingly reached out to us when we were dead in sin and couldn't get to Him on our own, it is apparent that we owe Him a debt of love and devotion. When we stop and think that Jesus willingly suffered all that He did just so we might be saved by grace, it stirs the heart! If it doesn't move the soul to love and to worship before the Lord, then there is a problem at the heart of your Christian experience. True love for Jesus is always born of a sure realization of what He has done for the child of God. DID YOU KNOW? The next time you are cursed, attacked, threatened, lied about, etc., what are you going to do? Well, you can step outside of God’s will and handle it yourself. Or, you can take the high road and leave it in the hand of God. By the way, if you determine that you are going to be like Jesus, you had better keep a tender heart ready to forgive, and you had better a skin as thick as that of a rhinoceros because you are going to be attacked. Sundayitis - (Also known as “Morbus Sabbaticus”) - This baffling condition produces symptoms that are only seen on Sunday. It produces acute laziness in the person afflicted. It causes them to sleep in, or it can make them spend the day in the mountains or at the lake. This strange disease never seems to affect singings or eating meetings, but only those services where the Word of God is featured. Symptoms are usually worse from 9 AM to 12 AM. During the afternoon, the sufferer feels better until 5 or 6 PM when the symptoms return. The patient is almost always better by Monday morning allowing him to return to work, but sadly he usually suffers a relapse on Wednesday that keeps him away from prayer meeting. DID YOU KNOW? Will you be waiting when He returns? When the truth of what the Lord has done for you dawns in your soul, you will be possessed by a love for Him that cannot be explained. When you consider that He has forgiven every sin, removed the penalty of your sins and even broken power of sin; how could you not want to see Him? When you remember that He loves you and keeps you and blesses you with more than is ever deserved, it will touch your heart and will cause you to long for His return. My friends please do not let the return of Jesus catch you looking at the world and all its treasures. Instead, strive to found looking for Jesus when He returns. DID YOU KNOW? The Bible tells us that there is a King named Jesus who left this earth one day to go back to Heaven. Before He left, He gave His people some precious promises that stand as a glorious hope for the people of God. These promises are a great blessing for those who know and love the King. But, they signal doom for those who do not know Him. Now the truth of the matter is this, not everyone will meet Jesus the same way when He returns. Some will be excited and happy, others will be caught off guard, still others will be found lost and undone and will find that an eternity in Hell is all they have before them. The question I have for you today is this: “How will you meet the King”? DID YOU KNOW? What happened yesterday can never be changed. But, you do hold the key to tomorrow. You should never allow the hurts of yesterday to control your life today. It is a shame when we drag around the baggage of what someone said, what someone did or how we were hurt. It does nothing but strangle the spiritual life right out of you! You say, “I can’t forget it!” Jesus says, “Come unto me, all ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”. He also says, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness”. Where we fail, He prevails! He will give you the grace to forgive and He will give you the grace to forget, if you will bring it to Him! If you will bring it to Him, He can really make the past “the past”! DID YOU KNOW? There are many in today’s church, who are also afflicted with a root of bitterness. Because of some events in your past; because of what someone said to you or about you; because you didn’t get your way at some point, your feelings are hurt and nothing means as much to you as getting your pound of flesh. You are angry at someone else and you want revenge. You are hurt and you want them to hurt. You are offended and so you give them the cold shoulder, or purposely go out of your way to avoid having to speak to them. You think you are hurting them, but in reality, you are hurting no one but yourself! How? Friend, your bitterness will kill no one but you! When you and I allow bitterness over the hurts, slights and events of life to control us, we are committing slow, spiritual suicide. We are allowing our very spiritual life to be strangled right out of us! When we allow our hurts to linger, they will grow into a root of bitterness that will stifle anything spiritual within our lives. DID YOU KNOW? Have you ever heard of the word “hypocrite”? It was how Jesus referred to the scribes and Pharisees. It is an interesting word! It was originally used to refer to “an actor, or one who plays a part.” In the famous Greek tragedies, one actor would often play many parts. This actor would have a different mask for each part he was to play. As he transitioned from part to part, he would simply switch one mask for another. Hence, hypocrisy came to refer to someone who “plays different parts by hiding behind different masks.” Someone who wears their church face on Sunday and lives like the world on Monday is a hypocrite. By the same token, someone who loves you to your face, but secretly despises you in their hearts is also a hypocrite. They are merely playing a part and hiding behind a mask. .” DID YOU KNOW? This period of David’s life was the hardest he would ever face. Yet, face it he did! And, he faced it with the help of his friends. The people God providentially placed within his life made the road easier and the burden lighter. David was a rich man, not because he had wealth, position and power, but because he had friends! Thank God for our friends! They are like fine jewels affixed in the crown of our lives. When God gives us people like He gave David, He has blessed us above measure. Thank God “there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” DID YOU KNOW? One of the all-time greats in baseball was Babe Ruth. His bat had the power of a cannon, and his record of 714 home runs remained until Hank Aaron came along. The Babe was the idol of sports fans, but in time age took its toll, and his popularity began to wane. Finally the Yankees traded him to the Braves. In one of his last games in Cincinnati, Babe Ruth began to falter. He struck out and made several misplays that allowed the Reds to score five runs in one inning. As the Babe walked toward the dugout, chin down and dejected, there rose from the stands an enormous storm of boos and catcalls. Some fans actually shook their fists. Then a wonderful thing happened. A little boy jumped over the railing, and with tears streaming down his cheeks he ran out to the great athlete. Unashamedly, he flung his arms around the Babe's legs and held on tightly. Babe Ruth scooped him up, hugged him, and set him down again. Patting him gently on the head, he took his hand and the two of them walked off the field together. That is the kind of Friend the saints will find in Jesus! He came in when we had no hope. He gave us just what we needed when we needed it. He did, not the work of an angel, but the work of a Savior in our lives. DID YOU KNOW? Sam Davis was a Confederate spy executed at Pulaski, Tennessee, for his crime. When captured by the Union army, he had in his possession some papers of vital importance. After examining the case closely, the officers in charge knew he must have had an accomplice in securing the papers. He was court-martialed, led out before the firing squad and blindfolded. Then the officer in charge put forward a proposition: "If you will give us the name of the man who furnished you this information, you may go free." Sam Davis did not hesitate in his reply, "If I had a thousand lives I would give them all before I would betray a friend." I am glad to report to you that the saints have such a Friend in Jesus! He loves us so much that even when we were His enemies, He gave His life on the cross to save our souls. He even called us His friends when we were acting like His enemies. He is a Friend Who loves us like we are, even when we are unlovable. He loves though we often act foolishly toward Him. He loves us even though we do not deserve His love. He is a faithful Friend! Many people will be your friend when all is well in your life and when they can benefit from being around you. A real friend loves you when you have absolutely nothing left to give! Jackie Robinson was the first black to play major league baseball. Breaking baseball's color barrier, he faced jeering crowds in every stadium. While playing one day in his home stadium in Brooklyn, he committed an error. The fans began to ridicule him. He stood at second base, humiliated, while the fans jeered. Then, shortstop Pee Wee Reese came over and stood next to him. He put his arm around Jackie Robinson and faced the crowd. The fans grew quiet. Robinson later said that arm around his shoulder saved his career. DID YOU KNOW? If there is one glimmer of light in this dark, tragic tale of David, it is in the fact that God brought David through it all and restored him to the throne. If God did it for David, He will do it for you! God will never desert you. He will go with you even as you face the consequences of your rebellion against Him. He will give you grace to get you through the pain and that heartache of your sin. And, He will be standing there to receive you when you come to yourself and head for home. DID YOU KNOW? Evangelist Sam Jones used to tell the following story: “While I was preaching in a certain town, there was a boy who would come into the back part of the church and lie down and go to sleep. He was drunk. His father, who was a good Christian man, would take him home. One morning after one of these experiences, the boy came downstairs. The father met him and said, "Hold on, Son. I want you to go to church with me and be a Christian." The son said, "No, Father, I do not want to be a Christian. I am not going to church. Please get out of my way, for I am going to town." The father pleaded tenderly and said, "Son, your mother has slept little for nights. She is almost dying. You are killing us all. Please go and become a Christian like your father has." But the son glared at him and said, "Do you know who the man is who gave me my first drink?" The father answered, "No." Then as he rushed past him and out of the door, he angrily said, "You are the man, sir." The father said that if the boy had shot him through the heart, it could not have hurt more. Yes, we reap what we sow.” DID YOU KNOW? There is a verse in the Old Testament that says, “…and be sure your sin will find you out,” (Num. 32:23). That is not a threat. It is not even a promise. It is just a statement of the facts. TODAY’S THOUGHT
6/5
What David had done in secret, the Lord would do in the open. Everyone would know what David had done and he would pay the price in full view of the world. This is one of the great tragedies of sin in our lives. It has the power to expose us. It may be hidden for a while, but eventually, the truth will come out and the sin and the sinner will be exposed. Think of what this could mean for your life and your family. Think of what this could mean for any ministry for the Lord you might hope to have. Protect yourself and stay away from sin. In the end, it will always tell on you. DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Never think for a minute that sin can be successfully hidden away forever. God knows exactly where it is buried, and when the time is right, he will place His finger right on the sore spot and He will press. He will confront that hidden sin and expose it for what it is! That will be a shocking day in the life of the guilty party. That is why it is so important for us to keep short accounts with God! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

When we sin against the Lord, we can be sure of His chastisement. It may not come immediately, but it will come. That is His promise. Constant guilt, loss of joy and peace, the sense of God’s displeasure are all the regular companions of those who walk away from the Lord and who refuse to deal with their sins. If we could learn to do it God’s way, it would save us so much sorrow and heartache. Like he “check engine light” in your car, when it comes on, you can ignore it, you can break the light, or you can get the problem fixed. If you ignore it or break the light, eventually, you will harm the engine. If you fix it, everything goes back to normal. The same is true with guilt. It is the check engine light of the soul. When it comes on, do not ignore it, but take the problem to Jesus and get it fixed. DID YOU KNOW? Sin led David deeper and deeper into its prison and farther and farther away from the Lord. This is how sin always works! It is never satisfied, but it will lead you along, taking you deeper and deeper, ever tightening its grip on your heart and life. Don’t be deceived by the giant that dwells in your heart. He will settle for nothing short of your total destruction! When the Bible says “the way of the transgressor is hard”, (Pro. 13:15); it means what it says! DID YOU KNOW? Such is the power of the giants that assault us. They first ensnare the mind, and then they seem to erase all reason. People in the grip of lust or some other fleshly desire often do things that they would never do under normal circumstances. When they get in the grip of their giant, they lose their senses and become intoxicated with gratifying their fleshly desires! When a look is allowed to linger, lust will be conceived; and when lust is conceived, sin is always the result, (James 1:15). DID YOU KNOW? It isn’t the giant of sickness, suffering, sorrow, poverty, pain or any other external giant that you might can name, that is going to give you the greatest trouble in your life. The giant who is going to cause you the most trouble dwells within your own heart right now. Many people fear the giants of life. Things like health problems, death, financial crisis, etc. seem to leave us quaking in fear. Yet, we never stop to think that it is the giants that we carry around with us day by day that we need to fear the most. DID YOU KNOW? That is the power of grace! It takes the lost sinner, changes him completely and gives him a seat at the Lord’s Table. It takes us from our Lo-debar and makes us one of God’s children. It puts us on even footing with all the rest of God’s precious saints. When you embraced His grace, He elevated you to a new position. You are not beneath Abraham, Moses, the Apostles or any other saint of God. You are His child, seated at His table and His grace has taken care of your past and your infirmities. That is the power of grace! No wonder it’s called amazing! DID YOU KNOW? What a picture this is of the lost sinner who encounters grace. When Jesus first calls there is fear brought about by conviction, (John 16:7-11). The sinner knows that he deserves nothing but judgment and damnation from the hand of God. Yet, the call comes and it cannot be denied. When the sinner responds to the call and is ushered into the presence of the Lord, he falls down in humility, reverence and worship. Then, the King speaks and He reveals the fact that grace has turned away His wrath, opened His heart and His Heaven and that grace offers to restore to the sinner everything that sin took away! If you have experienced God’s saving grace in your life, then you know how overwhelming it truly is. DID YOU KNOW? David discovers that one of Jonathan’s sons is still living. He also hears the news that this man is crippled. Yet, the response of grace is not to ask what kind of man he is, or even how bad he is crippled. Grace does not concern itself with the man’s background, his surroundings, his abilities, his appearance, his future potential, etc. The response of grace is to ask “Where is he?” As soon as David hears where this man is, he sends his servants to “fetch” him. Grace said, “I am not concerned about his condition, I want him just like he is.” DID YOU KNOW? What should our response be when God says “No”? We should first remember that we are who we are and have what we have because of His pure, perfect grace. We should remember that He is the Potter and we are but the clay. We should assume the place of a humble child before His presence and trust Him to do that which is best. Our goal in life should not be to reach our dreams; but to see His perfect will carried out in our lives. There is no greater honor than being used by the Lord to bring glory to His name, even it isn’t the way we hoped it would happen. DID YOU KNOW? HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! Some of us have witnessed the death of our dreams. We have watched as life has altered the plans and dreams of our youth. But, I think if we will take the time to look at all the Lord has done through our life, we will see that He had something far better in mind for us than we could have ever dreamed up on our own. God always has the best plan! DID YOU KNOW? HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. There are people who have heard the Lord say “No” in their heart. Perhaps as a young man, there was a desire to be a preacher of the Gospel. You told God you would do it, but it never worked out. Perhaps there was a dream in the heart of a young lady to be a missionary or to give your life in some other form of service, but that didn’t work out either. Perhaps there was a dream in your heart to make a lot of money so that you could give to others and to the work of the Lord, but that dream never came to pass. It is as if God said, “That is not what I have planned for your life. I want you to take a different path.” There are others who will hear Him say “No” to their dreams of the future. Do not despair! God has a plan just for YOU! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

The word of God is filled with both "precepts" and "principles". Just like life, a speed limit sign is a precept. It is a law that does not change, regardless of the circumstances. A road sign that says "Drive to Survive", like you will find at the Maryland state line is a principle. It allows a little flexibility, but it still directs your way of life. In the Bible, an example of a precept is, (Matt. 22:37-40). An example of a principle would be, (Gal. 6:7). (Phil. 4:6) is a precept, while (Rom. 10:13) is a principle; (Rom. 12:1) is a precept; (Heb. 10:25) is a principle. There are many more that could be listed, but do you see the difference? A precept is a clearly defined law for living. A principle is a general statement about how life should be lived. However, whether it is a precept or a principle, the heart after God's heart takes them both seriously and applies them without question! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

We remember the spectacular, the traumatic and the glorious. However, when God remembers, He remembers something quite different about us. To find out what God remembers about this man, you have to turn to the New Testament. Some 1,000 years after his death, Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, reveals what God remembers about David. The passage is Acts 13:22. The statement is: "I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will." What a testimony of a life well lived and found pleasing to the Lord! The believer who goes after God with a heart to know Him; and who seeks His face according to His revealed will; is going to receive that which he is after, (Gal 6:7). When we stop trying to get on us through fleshly means and through worldly shortcuts; and we go after Him by honoring His Word and respecting His holiness, He will bless us with His presence and His power for His glory! Doing things God’s way will put a shout in your heart, a song on your lips and glory in your soul. When we line up with Him and go after God with all our hearts, we will be changed forever! We must learn the truth that there are no shortcuts to holiness and obedience. DID YOU KNOW? God’s blessings come only through obedience, and those who defy His Word and His will are going pay a terribly high price. The best thing a child of God can do is align them self with the Word of God and walk in humble obedience. Failing to seek God’s will is just as dangerous as ignoring what He has already told you to do. His children should always pray before they make a move. Trying to carry out God’s business using the methods of the world is a recipe for disaster. We have no business trying to carry the church on the new carts of the world’s wisdom. It is to be carried on the shoulders and in the hearts of the people of God! We are often guilty of reaching out with our hands instead of reaching up with our hearts. We are guilty of trying to do spiritual work in the power of the flesh. We attempt to do the work of God with our hands and never really get under the burden. That will never work and God will not bless it. DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. This Ark was vital to worship in Israel. It was symbolic of God’s presence among His people. It was often carried into battle in front of the soldiers. It was central to their lives; their worship and their relationship with God. But, the Ark had not been kept in the central position that it deserved; and, as a result, neither had God. We do not have an Ark like Israel did; but we still need the presence of God just as much as they did. We need God in us and we need His power and His manifest presence in our lives and our worship. To this end, God has given us Jesus! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

When the winds of adversity blow into our lives, we can be assured that God will show up in power in His time.
God used wind to dry up the waters after the flood, (Gen. 8:1).
God used wind to bring the plague of locusts on Egypt, (Ex. 10:13).
God used wind to part the Red Sea, (Ex. 14:21). He stopped that wind to drown the Egyptian army.
God used wind to blow quail into the camp of Israel, (Num. 11:31).
God used wind to teach Elijah about the presence of God, (1 Kings 19:11).
God used wind to teach Peter about faith, (Matt. 14:22-33).

The wind may be blowing, and the outcome may seem in doubt right now, but we are to put our faith in the God Who rides the winds to give us victory in His time and in His way. It may look like defeat is in the wind, but God will always keep His promises to His people! No wind, regardless of how foul it may be, can deter the God of Heaven from keeping His promises to us! His promises include His presence, peace, provision, forgiveness, grace, blessing, joy. DID YOU KNOW? One of the first steps in yielding control of our life totally to the rule of King Jesus is to recognize our connection to Him. He is qualified to be our King because He died on the cross to redeem us from our sins. When we came to Him for salvation, we became connected to Jesus by His blood! Most of us came to Jesus to get out of our sin trouble, right? But, in any genuine salvation experience, there is also a genuine desire to repent and to serve the Lord. In other words, a person who comes to Jesus for salvation also understands that he or she is saying goodbye to the old life of sin and hello to a new life of service and submission to the Lord. You can’t have Jesus as your Savior if you are unwilling to have Him as your Lord also! It’s impossible to hold to the Lord with one hand, while still clinging to the world with the other hand. I know some will disagree, but it does not change the fact the Jesus is still, and always will be, the Lord Jesus Christ! And, when you got Him, you did not get part of Him, you got all or nothing! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

As we think about the warfare in our own lives, and of the times when we have walked in partial surrender to the Lordship of Jesus; what has been wasted in our own lives? Certainly time has been wasted. People have lost months and years of their lives and service to God because they refused to bow in total submission to the King. Testimonies have been wasted. Opportunities have died before our very eyes while we wandered through the quagmire of partial submission to King Jesus. Some people have allowed the whole of their Christian lives pass by, while they stubbornly refused to yield to His absolute control in their lives. What a waste! What a tragedy! Won’t it be sad to stand before Him at the Judgment Seat of Christ and find out what could have been? Won’t it be a harsh day when you have to stand and give an account of all the wasted days, wasted opportunities and wasted blessings? DID YOU KNOW? See a parallel between these events and what happens in our own lives when we come to Jesus for salvation. You see, when we are saved, we get a new King. I would just remind you today that we serve the Lord Jesus Christ. When a person comes to Jesus for salvation, they cannot accept Him as Savior today and then make Him Lord later. He is the Lord Jesus. It impossible to divorce His role as Savior from His role as Sovereign! In other words, you cannot have Jesus as Savior unless you are willing to have Him as your King as well. I realize that some folks don’t like that, nor believe that, but your objections do not change the facts. Jesus is Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all! DID YOU KNOW? It must have looked like Satan and his minions had won the battle against God, the day Jesus died on Calvary. I can picture the demonic hordes as they rejoiced in the death of the Messiah. It looked, from all appearances, that the enemy had won; that life had been defeated by death; that righteousness had been destroyed by sin; and that hope had been vanquished by hopelessness. I am glad that appearances can be deceiving! In Israel, Saul might have been dead and the Philistines might have been claiming new territory; but God still had His man! David would step up in a few days and set things right. The enemy had won nothing but a little more time. The day was coming when the King of Israel would destroy them forever. Thus it was also when Jesus died on the cross. Hell rejoiced; earth mourned and Heaven waited with bated breath. From all appearances hope was gone and evil had triumphed; but God still had His Man! Three days after Israel crucified their King on the cross; He arose from the dead; defeated His foes and claimed an eternal victory for Himself and all those who follow Him! Hallelujah! Christ arose! An old legend tells of a merchant in Baghdad who one day sent his servant to the market. Before very long the servant came back, white and trembling, and in great agitation said to his master: "Down in the market place I was jostled by a woman in the crowd, and when I turned around I saw that it was Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture. Master, please lend me your horse, for I must hasten away to avoid her. I will ride to Samarra and there I will hide, and Death will not find me." The merchant lent him his horse and the servant galloped away in great haste. Later the merchant went down to the market place and saw Death standing in the crowd. He went over to her and asked, "Why did you frighten my servant this morning? Why did you make a threatening gesture?" "That was not a threatening gesture," Death said. "It was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Baghdad, for I have an appointment with him tonight in Samarra." Each of us has an appointment in Samarra. But that is cause for rejoicing—not for fear, provided we have put our trust in Him who alone holds the keys of life and death. DID YOU KNOW? God desires to save, bless and use people for His glory. Men, however, refuse to go God’s way and they live lives of defeat and ultimately they die tragic deaths. It does not have to be that way. God has a better plan. Jesus said this: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. It appears from that verse that we can either have the ministry of the thief or the ministry of the Good Shepherd in our lives. So, if you are out of step with God’s plan, let me encourage you to line up today so that you and your family might avoid the same tragic ending that befell Saul and his family. DID YOU KNOW? Jesus rescues us from the scrap pile (our earthly vessels), and puts us in the Kings service! God puts “His Treasure” (our eternal soul) in our trash can, so that the Excellency of His power may be seen as His works in us. Thank God He lifts the fallen, delivers the captive, helps the burdened and saves the sinner. Thank God I was found one day. What about you? DID YOU KNOW? As a stranger from the promises of God and the hope of Israel, we too can remember what it was like being outside of Jesus! We too walked the “course of this world” before we received the call of salvation. Our thoughts and tendencies were to pursue the deeds that characterize even the present period of man’s history. People are being left for dead! This is exactly how much the devil values your life and mine. He delights in using us up and throwing us away! The sinner only has one Friend, Jesus Christ. He is our true refuge. DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

When we are criticized and attacked, our best response is simply to carry on with business according to God’s Will! Just keep on serving God and be what the Lord has saved you to be. He will bless that attitude more than He could ever bless an attitude of bitterness and one that lashes out at its enemies. Did You Know? Let me share with you 4 steps to take when you are criticized by another. Perhaps these will help you when that next critic unleashes his or her long tongue against your life.
1.Accept criticism as inevitable.
2. Carefully examine the source of every criticism. Some may be valid, but many are not! Ask yourself, "Who is the one saying this thing?"
3. Decide not to take criticism personally. Look at it objectively and try to learn from it. Ask yourself, "Is there any truth to this?"
4. Commit the matter to the Lord and with His help rise above it! Allow Him to vindicate you in His own time and in His own way. If we fail to cope with criticism, we will become like our critics!

The wife of a hard to please husband was determined to satisfy him for just one day. "Darling", she asked, "what would you like for breakfast this morning?" He growled, "Coffee and toast, grits and sausage, and two eggs - one scrambled and one fried." She soon had the food on the table and waited for a word of praise. After a quick glance at his plate, he exclaimed, "Well, if you didn't scramble the wrong egg!" The moral? Some people will never be happy no matter what you do, no matter what you say, no matter to what lengths you go to in order to satisfy them. People like that are not worth the time it takes for you to try and make them happy. Does it hurt when people criticize? Yes! But in the end, the only Person Who deserves to be pleased at all costs is God! Therefore, let the critics criticize and the complainers complain. If God is pleased with your life and mine then we have accomplished something of the first order! Did You Know? John Wesley was deeply disturbed by people who seemed to enjoy criticizing others, especially those who were in the Lord's work. Once while he was preaching, he noticed a lady in the congregation who was well known for her critical attitude. All through the service she sat and stared at his new tie. When the meeting was ended, she came up to him and said very sharply, "Mr. Wesley, the strings on your bow tie are much too long. It's an offense to me!" He asked if any of the ladies present happened to have a pair of scissors in their purse. When they were handed to him, he gave them to the critic and asked her to trim the streamers to her liking. After she clipped them off near the collar, he said, "Are you sure they're right now?" "Yes", she said, "that's much better!" "Then let me have those shears a moment," said Wesley. "I'm sure you wouldn't mind if I also give you a bit of correction. I don't mean to be cruel, but I must tell you, madam, that your tongue is an offense to me - it's too long! Please, stick it out, I'd like to trim some off." Did You Know? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love.
