LeRoy, I love to walk! It is the easiest exercise for me too. If I walk alone, I pray and meditate. When I walk with my husband, son or friends we talk. I also have been doing an exercise video. The music is Southern Gospel. It is great! We have snow in Michigan so I haven't been walking outside to often. I was able to walk outside last week because it was so nice. I have found a place to walk inside now. Rhea
Today is the first day of the rest of my life!

I find walking the easiest exercise. I love to walk, I meditate while I walk, sometimes I listen to tapes (sermons) I don't listen to music very much or the Christian radio. Sometimes I just walk along praying and praising my Lord and Savior. I love to sing praises while walking, although I do get some funny looks at times.
Do something good for your body, take it for a walk.

Thank you for your prayers and inspiration. I will work on exercise..plan to walk this week on the 1.5 mile track around our park. No snow here, North Carolina, but rain is on the way this afternoon and tomorrow. HAVE BLESSED NEW YEAR

I dislike exercise too but I actually force myself to do it because I realize its the only way to shed those extra pounds and stay healthy. I also work in a very stressful environment and I find it helps me get rid of alot of toxins and stress. To keep it interesting I have alot of different activities I love to do and haved worked hard at finding the one I'm passionate about. My husband and I mountain bike, walk and rollerblade in the summer. In the winter we cross country ski, treadmill, and step/dance aerobics as well as free weights. I still haven't lost any weight though because it's my eating habits that are terrible. I need prayer in that area.
Barbara626 I will pray for you too get inspired about an exercise and get passionate about one that you will like. I have tried so many different things and not all of them I enjoy i.e.pilates.
Anyhow, we woke up to about 15cm of snow so there is about a foot 1/2 of snow sitting on our car and driveway. It is so pure white, fresh and clean it looks so beautiful.
God Bless everyone and keep motivated and inspired. Oh yes, I had an aweful eating day yesterday and I won't tell you how much.

Great motivating post. All that talk about walking out in the sunshine and open air is causing my heart and soul to long for summer. Yep, I'm a Canadian, there is snow all over the ground and its a tad cold tonight. However, I do cross country ski and when we get a little more snow and the trails are groomed I'm going to put my body into action and praise the Lord for my health and ability to move physically. I love all these posts and reading what everyone has to say. Each of us are created so uniquely by God it's exciting and yet at the same time we are the same in God's eyes. Bye for now and talk to you fellow weight loss buddies later.

Yes I must admit I have thanked God not only for the beautiful scenery, the beautiful sunshine but that I am able to walk at all. I was reminded of Joni Erikson who is a christian songwriter/artist and much more who is permanently paralysed.
There are people who are totally house-bound and can never get out. Yes I thank God.
I am reminded by the Psalm 103 'Praise the Lord O my South, Praise the Lord O my soul and forget not all his benefits' This was preached in a small fellowship a few weeks ago. The Reader said we should have an Attitude of Gratitude when in our deepest darknes moment. It has stayed with me all this time.
It's so eacy to fall into despondancy which is what the devil will have us do and he catches me out many a time. I can litterally feel the sinking feeling.

I just wanted to say I totally agree with what y'all are saying. I've spent the last several years trying to justify using time to go exercise when I have all these responsibilities at home and at work. I really like the way you put it; "Taking care of our bodies is not selfish, but a way to thank God...". That is awesome!!
"Exercise is the action of thanking God through the movement of our bodies" I just keep saying that over and over to myself, This will help me so much. THANK YOU!!
This is so true, whenever I am up in the early morning I just have to thank God for everything. Being out in the open air, up with all God's creatures makes me really appreciative for life. I have this great cd "Gotta Have gospel VOL.2", that I listen to when I am walking so my spirit and my body are strengthened.
The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. Prov 13:4
What a great message! You can PREACH it, girl! I actually work at a gym currently, and that's one of the things I try to get across to people -- it's that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and taking care of these bodies is not selfish, but rather a way to thank God for our bodies and all that they can do! Especially when we consider that some people don't even have all of their limbs. I remind people that we should be so grateful that God has given us all that He has, and to take the best care of what's been given us. Thanks again for the wonderful message and the thoughtful way you put it. Together, we're... Getting fit for the King! Toodles - Shapinup
the movement of our bodies. Each morning I get up and walk/run I am praising God for each limb He has kept in working order. I am acknowledging that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Not to mention that the very act of early morning exercise out in the open air is a great time to commune with God and seek His counsel in regards to how I should move about my day. I love Him and I pray He deepens my developing love for exercise. I pray that He also encourages each of you each and everyday to stay on this journey towards better health.
