Welcome to the team! That weight gain really sneaks up on you, doesn't it? I gained nearly 30lbs in (eek!!!) 3 months! But no we're here to look at those mistakes and make them just another life lesson. :) I hope you love your time here.
My only tip is to track absolutely every little thing. If you can, track the items before you eat them. It's easy to look back on something and say "crap, did I eat that?" It's good to look at something new and say to yourself "No, maybe I don't need to eat that.

Hi Nicky! I must say that as soon as I joined SP and posted a few times, the responses I recieved were welcoming, motivating, and encouraging- I hope you're getting the same feedback! I love how you said your goal isn't just to lose weight for your wedding, but to develop a healthy lifestyle...I think that outlook is the one that brings the most success. I've tried dieting for this or that, but it's really wanting to get HEALTHY that has motivated me most.
I'm right with you on the depression issue- I've never been as down as I am right now, and I too am the largest I've ever been. This site has made me realize that there are people out there just like me, and it's been a great experience so far- there's nothing like a few encouraging words from people that are/were in similar situations to get my butt back on a treadmill...if they can do it, so can I!! I've also noticed that the high I get from being on the treadmill for just 30 minutes is incredible, and it definitely helps with the depression!
I do, of course, have a few specific goals: I'd like to lose 25 pounds by my birthday (end of April), and my biggest goal is to run a 5K before the end of the year (I've NEVER been an athlete, so that's pretty huge for me). I'm sure you'll see much success before your wedding day, and you'll look stunning then and for the rest of your life! Congrats on making the decision to get healthy- I'm right there with you!
Hi! I'm Nicky. I am 24 and currently at 215 lbs. This is the heaviest and most depressed I have ever been in my life. I completely understand your desire to make a change and am right there with you!! I am also looking for a lot of support from people going through similar things and I hope we can motivate and encourage eachother sometimes, I know it always helps me to have feedback!
I think you have already made two steps in the right direction by working out two days in a row. Keep that momentum going. Always focus on the end result. I put up pictures of people I admire for their health and beauty. (Not swimsuit models that make me feel like crap, but elegant women who look HEALTHY) I also have a picture of me in all my FAT glory in shorts and a sports bra hung up next to a picture of me at my smallest/healthiest point on the fridge, so everytime I go to open it up, I see what I know I CAN look like if I make the wrong or RIGHT choice. It has helped tremendously because it reminds me that only I am in control of my nutrition decisions and those decisions WILL have an affect on which picture I end up looking like on the outside.
I am not in a rush to lose this weight, I am looking to tone, get in shape and shed pounds slowly over the course of the next 8 months and then continue a healthy lifestyle beyond the day of my wedding (September 2012). I would love to hear more from you about yourself and what your goals are and how you achieve your motivation! Best of luck!!

Hi All, my name is Heather, I'm 27, 5'4", and 194 pounds. One year ago I weighed 145, but lack of exercise, poor food choices, and drinking wine on the regular have resulted in me being a total fatty. I ultimately want to weigh 125, but right now I'm just trying to get back to where I was comfortable most recently.
I'm hoping to find support in this community- it's awful being so young and feeling so OLD! Knee problems, digestive issues, general fatigue, etc.- they've got me feeling worse and worse every day. I recently had a photo taken with a friend who is 5 months pregnant, and if I didn't know better I'd think we both were! It was heartbreaking. The next day (yesterday), I hopped on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I did another 30 today. And I'm hoping that this is a true beginning to a lasting lifestyle change that will help me lose weight and be healthier in general.
I'd love to hear any tips from the other team members and I look forward to being a member of this team!!
