Hi Suzanne,
I'm between 13 and 14 weeks now. Due February 10th-ish. It's all going well except for the stress eating and subsequent weight gain. Blah!

Brian is plugging along with the cancer deal. It looks like he'll definitely need either chemo or a pretty major surgery. Both have risks and we have to meet with a team of oncologists to decide which is best. Keep your fingers crossed for us that we are able to make the right decision despite our complete inability to make decisions!!!

Emily- First of all, a big congrats on your pregnancy!! How far along are you at this point? Second, I am so sorry to hear about your husbands cancer diagnosis. Does it run in his family or just a random thing? Hoping he will not need chemo because my goodness I can only imagine the stress that would cause for both of you!! I am also happy to hear that he caught is very early!!
You know, I would do the best you can with your diet but between pregnancy and the cancer, I wouldn't let myself stress over that, too. You know yourself, and regardless of what you gain, you seem to be the type of person who will get it off, even if it takes a while.

Kristi- I was shocked to see you on here!! It has been a while. Wow, y'all have to go back to school early in NY!! That is crazy because I think you got out much later than the schools here. My daughter doesn't start until the end of August.
Are you able to enjoy NYC much this time around? I guess you either love it or you don't but I can totally understand wanting to get back to Atlanta. Will you move back into your old house?

I am going to Baton Rouge to visit my friend on Friday. Just a quick two day trip so I shouldn't do too much damage in the weight department while I am there, lol!! My weight is dropping but ever so sloowwwwly. I guess it is better than gaining, right?!

Hey ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA. As many of you know, my life has been a little crazy these days. A lot going on. It's not all bad, though, and *ahem* I have good news, too, (you can guess, I'm sure!) but I'm keeping it off facebook these days because I have a friend going through a very stressful pregnancy and another who just had a miscarriage so I'm keeping my mouth shut for a few more months to let them deal with what they are going through. The last thing they need is me throwing my good fortune in their faces, you know?

Anyhoo, so the hubby does have cancer, which sucks, but we're doing ok. We have about a month of waiting before we'll know whether he needs chemo or not. It's pretty stressful, especially with a toddler at home and me struggling through my own current exhaustion and nausea. I've been making it to the gym most days, just for sanity since L loves the childcare there and it gives this mommy a break, but I've also been eating, eating, eating. Food is the only thing that curbs the nausea, and it's also really hard to have self control while I'm supporting my friend (the one with the stressful pregnancy- her baby is pretty sick and we're all very scared about what some upcoming tests may reveal about the baby's prognosis) and of course, supporting the hubby through his surgery and anxiety about the future. Also, he can't pick up L for 6 weeks so I'm totally on my own with taking care of her even though he's still at home recovering from surgery. I won't let him drive to work until he can walk without struggling!

Exhausting! Mommy needs a vacation. Of course, if DH needs chemo he'll miss a lot of work so vacations aren't in the cards but I think if he's doing ok by late fall I'm going to push for a weekend away, just the two of us. Heaven knows we'll need it.

Ok, off to thaw some chicken for a healthy dinner at least! Hope everyone is doing well! Miss you all!

Hi girls! Me again! I am down to 2 more weeks of summer vacation and I'm so sad. It's hard to go back to a job I hate. However, now I'm down to 1 more year working there and we will return to Atlanta.

I've been getting in lots of running and working out this summer. It's so nice to have time to commit to fitness for a few weeks. Hopefully I can keep it mostly up once I return to NYC.

Suzanne- I have been reading your blog, you entertain me every day!!! I also have been avoiding the boards...I have been doing horribly with eating and have been inconsistent with my workouts. I did however run a 5 mile race last weekend...I finished without walking when I really had no business even running it in the first place because I am completely out of shape, but I did it- ran a 10:30/mile and got it done!!! I am also up a few lbs- about 5 to be exact. I am feeling horribly about myself, I can barely look in the mirror, all the weight is in my stomach, I can't stand it and it doesn't help that it's been warm and I want to wear tight/small clothing... BUT here's the kicker...I am going to Europe on Thursday for a little over 2 weeks. Totally a spontaneous trip...and then I am starting a NEW JOB when I get back. As you know from my previous posts, I have been miserable with my current job, so I am soooo excited!! I will be back on track when I get back I promise, let's keep each other accountable when I am back!!!!!!!

It looks like we have all been MIA for close to a month now. I hope that means yall are enjoying Summer and NOT avoiding the boards....like I have. Ha!! Honestly, I am up a few pounds and that is no fun but my motivation to lose it was lacking too. I am working on it though. I don't know how many of you read my blog but that is kind of the place I talk about my workouts and eating now. It is a fun little hobby but can be time consuming as well.

Erin- Have you found another race to run since you got sick before the last one?

Em- Baby on board yet? I saw on FB that you were having some vacation time. Is it weird to think you won't be heading back to the classroom this Fall?

Good for all of you trying to stay on top of your exercise and watching what you eat. I caved last week and purchased oreos ("They were on sale!" is not a good excuse!) and now I've got those plus cake in my house (from father's day). I'm not doing well at controlling the little nibbles. Gotta get back on track with my calories and exercise!

Hello!!

Planned my 4 mile run for tonight...cross your fingers for me...gonna try to run a flatter terrain than normal because I'm scared I won't be able to do it. If I can get it done then Sunday's 5 mile race is on...and that is definitely full of hills...so I don't want to tire my muscles too much today.

Hi ladies! The scale finally dipped below 115 for a couple days (was 115 today) so I'm feeling happy about that. When I got pregnant with Lyla I was 115 and I'm determined not to start the next pregnancy higher, so it's kind of my magic number right now. I look a LOT better at 111/112 but that seems like a lofty goal right now, so I can be happy with 114/115.

Meanwhile, I just had my second mocha of the day and had Five Guys for lunch. Ooops! Now that I'm on summer break, though, I'm hitting the gym every day and I've been taking L on walk every morning, too. Can you tell I'm not used to having free time? Ha!

We're meeting friends at the gym later for a baby playdate in the pool so I might even fit in a little workout beforehand. We'll see!

Hi ladies!!!

Got a 4 mile run/walk in earlier today...so feeling good. I also ran 3.3 miles the other day...thinking if I can get a 4 mile run in this week that I may do a 5 mile race Sun 17th that I missed last year because of my finger injury! I know it's gonna make me really sore...but I think mentally it really helps me to push myself to the limits when I'm not in the best shape...plus it burns calories which means I can have a treat or two on those days!

Shana- I hear you on the small indulgences...I have basically come to terms with the fact that I can't "cut out" anything completely from my diet...so I just try to limit myself as much as I can...and get a workout in when I can and hope it evens out. I can't imagine trying to be good after having a baby...I give you guys a ton of credit!!!

Suzanne- You said it- that's what I am telling myself....we are being healthy and good to our bodies...whether or not the scale is moving...it's better than I had been and it will hopefully pay off in the long run.

That being said...I have to mention that I put on a shorter sundress the other day...and my legs look like they don't belong to me...they are just so not toned/fat in the backs of my thighs, I guess age and being "idle" when I should have been working out has taken its toll. I don't think it'll be impossible to get rid of but I have my work cut out for me!!!!!

Have a great weekend!!

Erin

Hi ladies, the babe is napping so quick check in from me

I want to try cross fit too but it's 25 bucks a session and I pay 90 for my gym :/ oh yeah, and I'm not working lol.

Sooo, I'm still at 131. Wtf?! However I know I'm shrinking bc my clothes are fitting better and my tummy isn't as juicy. Stil...that's nearly 10 pounds above pre preg weight. I saw some pictures od myself from last weekend and i definitely look bigger all over - that watery bloated look. Breastfeeding is going great now so I don't want to quit until she is into solids but it's hard putting my desire to hard core diet aside.

Suzanne- you are down 3 pounds while pms-ing? That's great!

Erin- I hear ya on the wine! I have been having 1-2 drinks most nights and it's just so hard not to after an especially long day

Em- I can sympathize with the squishy feeling... I never imagined pregnancy would turn me into such a mush but I too had to take it easy the last trimester bc I had low fluid and I was so scared of having to be induced so I didn't do much but walk at the end- not the best for retaining muscle!

My goal for the weekend is to limit myself to one indulgence a day. If I am having alcohol, no dessert and if I choose dessert, no alcohol or just a smaller portion of both. Ironically, weekends are a little easier for me bc my husband is around and I'm busy getting done everything I can't during the week bc I have an infant to tend to.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Em- I also have an interest in CF but man, the boxes around here are pricey!!! $100 per month and that allows unlimited access but when I pay $30 for a gym membership it is hard to justify it.

I had to limit my exercise with Liam due to placenta previa and bleeding in the 2nd trimester so I know how that goes. Honestly, DIET is the biggest factor in looking good through the middle and you upper body is pretty easy to train and see results without bearing down too much. You know something that is AWESOME for the lower body and very low impact is walking in a super high incline on the treadmill. It is supposed to be one of the BEST booty exercises you can do!!

Erin- Just remember that even if you aren't losing weight you are still being kind to your body by working out and eating healthy. Yes, we all want to look good but that isn't the only benefit to treating ourselves well. I have to remind myself this same thing when I am not seeing the numbers I want.

I quit tracking about two days ago but am still keeping track in my head. I will go back to it but I needed a break from it for a few days. Like you, I am just trying to do something each day even if it is just a 25 minute Jillian Michaels workout. Something is better than NOTHING!!!

By the way Erin, thanks for commenting on my blog. For those that are interested, I am doing a giveaway so check it out!!

Hi All...just checking in quickly...still counting calories and trying to get a workout in everyday(even if it is a short one) just not seeing any results on the scale at all. I know it is the weekends that are killing me...but I have been doing great with food it's just the wine...I can't stop!! Plus I am totally stressed beyond belief with work stuff so I think that has to do with my holding onto the weight. I am trying to stay strong though I know eventually I am going to have to see some loss......

Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Suzanne- I am vey excited and I definitely plan on working out a lot while I'm a SAHM even when I do get pregnant. I worked out while PG with L and it was often the only thing that helped me feel less nauseous, oddly enough. I do plan to cut out things like squats, deadlifts, etc, though, because they put too much pressure on the pelvic floor and I think L was early because I had a crummy cervix. Sorry if that's TMI! So basically, I have to dial down the intensity and avoid anything that requires bearing down in any way, which are usually the best exercises for building and maintaining muscle, unfortunately. The biggest issue I have with getting pg is that I feel like I lost so much muscle the last time and I still haven't gained it back. Today I weigh the same as I did when I got PG the first time but I look much worse and that bothers me. I was pg in a bikini with L at 20 weeks and I HIGHLY doubt I will be in a bikini with the next kid.

Off topic, but I SO want to try crossfit, but I know it isn't worth it when I could get PG any day now, and they don't have childcare anyway. I've been lurking on my local CF blog, though. I have two friends who are married and are big into CF these days and they look AMAZING! I'm so jealous.

Howdy ho!!

Erin- I am keeping up with you on My Fitness Pal and you are doing great keeping your workouts consistent!!

Em- Just think, in a couple weeks you will be able to go to the gym as often as you like! Even if you do end up getting pregnant, you should still continue a moderate workout schedule and now you will have the TIME!!! I am sure you are SOOOO looking forward to SAHM status!!

I am still at a 3 pound weight loss. I have been PMSing big time so hope to see a pound or two drop this week. I am SOOO tired right now though that my exercise has been lacking. I seriously can barely manage to get through the day but tomorrow I plan to get a run in at least. PMS sucks!!

Hey ladies! I've been super busy wrapping up the school year and building a wall/patio combo in our backyard. It's incredibly exhausting and a great workout but I doubt I've lost anything since I've been starving after long hot days lifting concrete bricks!

Sigh. I REALLY REALLY don't like how my belly looks right now and I hate the thought of started my next pregnancy at a higher weight and overall increased flabbiness but it's so hard to watch what I eat enough to make a difference. My goal is to weigh myself every day this week as a reminder to eat well. I'm also going to take my measurements tomorrow. Ick! I'll even post them for accountability and then I'm going to put some effort into making good eating choices this week. I think I can, I think I can!

Yay great job Suzanne! I have been counting the good and the bad the last week...just lots of unplanned and planned drinking "events" for me...I have been really good with food but hoping after this weekend is over I can start the drinking only moderately on weekend again. I have been getting some decent workouts in though so I'm happy about that. I broke my "streak" on Saturday...because we went to a wedding and I couldn't get a workout in that morning...but I got a good run in yesterday and a walk in today and am counting...so I should be ok...

Happy Memorial Day!!

Hope you ladies are enjoying the long Holiday weekend!!!

We are about to head out to a BBQ/pool party and this will be the first indulgence for me in over a week. I will probably have a couple cocktails but plan to practice moderation with everything. I even got up and got my workout done this morning. Whoo hoo!!!

I seem to be stuck at a 3 pound weight loss but for a week I cannot really complain. I have PMS right now so I know I am also holding on to some water weight. Hopefully in a few days I will see more of a loss. I have been logging my food/workouts and rarely go over 1400 calories per day so I assume the loss will occur soon!!

Shana- Can you maybe plan an afternoon snack that is a little more substantial than chocolate or whatever snack you are having? Maybe an apple with some nut butter or string cheese and turkey, something with protein and a little staying power. I am the same way. Afternoons are hard for me, it is when I get hungry and lose all energy. And yes, staying home all day DOES make it hard not to snack. I have been doing it for three years now but it took some time to get used to it.

Erin- I have been weighing everyday just so I can see weight loss on my fitness pal, lol! It motivates me but I am scared since I lost 2 pounds I am going to gain a little back(water weight) and have to move my weight back up. That will be sad;( Calorie counting is what works for me too though it can be a pain in the rear. I am willing to do it though until I hit my goal. I can do anything short term and hopefully in another 4 weeks or less I will be at goal!

Hi all, quick check in for me- I'm holding steady at 131. Scale won't budge. I had to take another break from running bc I think I pinched a nerve in my back. Ugh. My body can run marathons but having a baby has completely worn my body down.

I am coming to terms with the fact that if I want to lose I may have to track. My downfall is always around 3-4pm. I'm tired. Baby is cranky and I'm hungry. I need a plan to get me through that danger zone every day. I have been exercising but for me it all comes down to food. I have too many chocolate chips here and tbsp of cream in my coffee there. The snacking has to stop. It's hard being home all day everyday and not to snack!

As much as I don't want to.... I'm going to start tracking tomorrow.

Suzanne- I am totally with you...if I can lose .5 a week that I actually KEEP OFF...I will be very happy!!! Scale was down to 132 this am, so I'm slowly going down to my "safe zone" which is like 130ish...I did go to the gym last night so I was happy about that! It's been 8 days that I have either stayed within calorie range or worked out or both...I think counting cals is still key for me!

Anyone else on myfitness pal on the board?

As long as you are staying in range for the most part, the weight will eventually come off. You will probably see a big loss all at once. Besides, body fat % is what really matters!! I also LOVE that you get extra calories for working out. I swear, when I don't feel like working out, I think about getting more food and it really helps, ha!!

I am really hoping that I can see a 1.5-2 pound per week weight loss. That will motivate me to keep going BUT if I can lose even .5 pound per week I will be happy. Every little bit adds up!!

Hiii!!

Suzanne- I know you love feeling sore even if it is a little uncomfortable!!! Yay for the pound, either way it's got to come BACK off even if you already lost/gained it once. I am LOVING my fitness pal...while I haven't been super strict with my foods, I think I am staying within range everyday(for some reason it's set at 1200 calories while my sparks is set slightly higher than that) and I love that it adds in workout calories as well. Somehow it doesn't seem as hard to workout now knowing I can add those calories and give myself a little food cushion for the day.

I plan to head to the gym tonight, it's gross and rainy here...so I'm thinking it's a good night for the elliptical and some ab work. Tomorrow night(weather permitting) my volleyball team starts...so I plan to get a quick walk/run in before the game and then hopefully burn some more calories playing.

My #s have not been so great...have been trying not to focus on it, but I weighed in at 134 this morning...BUT according to my scale my bf% is down a few %s since I started working out, so hoping that this is just muscle gain and I will see my losses in the next few weeks.

Hope everyone else is doing well!!!

Hi!!

Shana- How is your challenge coming along? Are you getting in your crunches and pushups?

Erin- I know you are chugging right along because I saw on My Fitness Pal that you had a 6 day streak. Whoo hoo!!! Are you liking using the app? It REALLY helps me and I down a pound. I would be excited BUT that is two pounds up from what I lost a few weeks back so it is like starting over.

My abs are SOOOO sore today. If hurts to laugh, cough, sneeze...ouch! I know my exercises are working though and my tummy needs help ASAP. I look bloated all the time and I hate it.

Hope everyone is good!! Check in when you get a chance:)

Yay people are here!!!

I have worked out 3 days in a row this week, don't think I could have said that in the last few months...it's a start, also been tracking calories and doing well with it. The weekend is SO TOUGH for me...but gotta stay committed if I want to see results.

Suzanne- I am so with you on the ups and downs...can't seem to even get close to what my "low" was last month...but got to keep chugging along. I got in a long run/walk tonight and last night...did Insanity on Tuesday and am going to do Insanity Cardio Abs tomorrow am and then some arm work. Just do what you can do...running seems to be the catalyst for me so I'm trying it out again...I just get so bored with the same workout routines...

Shana-glad you committed to goals for the Challenge, I am on a 3 day streak(as long as I am good for dinner tonight)!!

Hi everyone

Erin I thought about what I want to do for a challenge and I think it's going to be to fit in 100 pushups at home throughout the day and 150 situps. In addition, I want to eat 5-8 veg/ fruit servings a day. I can do challenges if it's adding something instead of taking away. I never do well at challenges like no chocolate or tracking. I just don't have it in me :)

Suzanne, I have been reading your blog, I want to check out that book you wrote about. I'm reading bringing up bebe right now. Im enjoying it!

How is everyone else doing?

I have worked out every day this week so I feel good about that but man I sit around a lot! Having a baby makes it really hard to be active during the day. She has been super fussy this week so today I'm just keeping things really low key and quiet so she can sleep as much as she wants. I think she was overstimulated - hoping to get out later because it's beautiful here!

I would do a challenge but I suck at them and never follow through. Just being honest, lol!!!

I need to do SOMETHING though! For the life of me, I cannot lose weight and keep it off. I lose a couple pounds and then the next week it is back. I am getting uber frustrated. I think I am going to start running again because I feel like that always helps.

Erin- I am like you. I have had a hard time getting to the gym and have had better luck being motivated to workout at home. it is just easier and more time efficient to workout at home rather than driving 15 minutes there and back.

I am making it my goal to be 5 pounds lighter by this time next month. I HAVE to be!!!!

Em- Sorry this wasn't your month but like you said, it gives you a few more weeks to work on your fitness. I do look forward to hearing baby news though!!!

I'm sure everyone is super busy as usual...just wanted to check in today...I am on point with my calories today and decide to try Insanity Month 1 again...I just can't get motivated to get out of the house so this will have to do for now. I took a "Day 1" picture and it's up on my page...I am hoping to see some real results this time around but at least I know I'm getting a good mix of cardio and strength with it and burning calories. If I can stick with it for a month I will definitely be in "running" shape again, as last time I did Insanity I tested myself and went from not really running at all to being able to do a 5K at the end of 4 weeks just from the workouts. Wish me luck!!

Thanks for the feedback Shana...Is anyone else up for a challenge??? Perhaps we can tailor them to our own needs? Like just try to "streak" whatever you are looking to work on whether it's eating, working out or both(or anything else like drinking water etc). I want to work on both, but have decided that if I'm not counting calories(like on the weekend) I MUST get a workout in on those days...I want to see how long I can keep a "streak" up doing that...

Let me know! Hope all are well!! Happy belated Mother's day to all you Mamas!

Hello ladies! Well, this was not my month to get pregnant again, which is fine because it means I have some more time to shape up first!

Shana- so glad things are going better! You might be surprised to find that some of the pounds start fading away over the next few weeks. My weight loss came in fits and starts in the first 6 months or so, regardless of what I ate. The only easily noticeable change for me, actually, was quickly gaining 3 pounds after I weaned. I'm still annoyed that I let that happen!

Anyway, this week has been a diet disasted with my anniversary, mother's day, etc, and next weekend I'm in a wedding. Eeek!

Hi girls, I am on interest but use a made up username. I never use the same username for any sites bc I don't want them connected. Suzanne I actually follow you on pinterest. My username is primary colors and I created a twitter account so it wouldn't connect to facebook. It's hard hiding these days!

So, anyway, breastfeeding is going sooooo much better! However, I think that as long as I bf I will hang on to 8 pounds or so that I really dont want. I have been running 5-6 miles 2-3 times a week and strength training 2xs and nada on the weight loss. I haven't been eating badly either so I think I'm just going to accept it for what it is.

Erin- I would be up for a challenge- a food one would be better than exercise just because Its really hard to commit time these days.

Em- exciting you might be pregnant :-)

How is everyone else doing?

More excuses for me tonight...my allergies are horrendous(even while going for allergy shots) and I have had a wicked sinus headache all day...so I couldn't go running, but did go for a 30 min walk, better than nothing. On the bright side- I did track ALL day...and I am within my calories for the day!! Yay!!

Yeah, lets pinky promise not to facebook or pinterest anything from this site. I hate that all these sites are getting connected. I come to this board to talk to you girls about things that I DON'T post on facebook. Otherwise I wouldn't need spark! Yuck!

Anyhoo, I'm still hovering between 115-116 which sounds good, I know, but doesn't look good on my short self. According to my body fat scale I'm around 24-25% body fat but in the past when I've gotten checked by calipers, it's always a few percentages higher, so more like 26-27 which is NOT good.

Sigh. I'm in a wedding next week, too, so you'd think I'd have the motivation to be good for one week in order to look my best but the stress of work and PMS (I think?) is making me tired, cranky, and wanting chocolate. Plus, I highly doubt I'm PG but the fact that I might be, makes me so unmotivated to step it up a notch because the thought of getting fitter seems like it will have to wait. I'm hoping that once I'm sure this month was a bust that I'll feel the push to kick it up for the next few weeks.

We'll see. I just ate a big brownie, though..... :-P

Suzanne- I noticed that too when I figured out what Pinterest was...I just figured we all respect each other's privacy and wouldn't dream of doing that...

I have been LAZY the weather has been crap here...the sun is finally peaking out today...so I WILL go for a run/walk tonight after work outside. Also- I got the iPhone- was waiting for it to really start tracking calories again, my blackberry was just waaaaaay too slow. Suzanne- I will add you as a friend on MyFitnessPal, I think my login is ELavery322 if you get to it first.

I just want to eat reasonable...and WORKOUT, I just can't get my butt up to do stuff...I am so sick of hearing myself say this...when it comes down to it I am my own worst enemy. In my mind I just keep thinking, if I could just get to a point where I workout consistently that I'd continue...but it is hard to start those "streaks" as even when I did the first month of Insanity it seemed like I was on a good roll and just dropped off from there. I am HATING the way my legs and stomach look in all the cute spring/summer stuff out in the stores right now. I have a number of weddings and events coming up in the next few months and I want to feel good about my body...just need to push myself.

Anyone want to start a team goal or something to try to motivate each other? Let me know...if I know I need to accountable to you guys maybe I will stop being so lazy.

I still haven't been consistent with tracking my calories.

Suz - maybe I'll try fitnesspal to see if I can keep up with it better. I'll track for a day or two then I'm back in the hole. I'm not tracking consistently enough to lose any weight! I've been loving late night sweets and random snacks too much...UGH! Last night I ate a pile of cake and ice cream. And I wonder why I can't lose anything LOL!

Erin- Have you thought of tracking your calories? I am on myfitness pal and it is really helping!! I lost two pounds this week. I am not eating any particular way, not cutting anything out but I am watching my calories and tracking my workouts and it seems to be helping. If you join, look me up.....user name is Suzriley1.

How did the second interview go? I hope well...I know you are more than ready to leave your current job. Fingers crossed for you!!

HELLO!

Emily - Oh my goodness! I TOTALLY know how you feel. I feel like I'm so hungry all the time! I'll eat dinner and 15 minutes later I'm raiding the pantry! It's so weird. I have to force myself not to eat. I make sure to drink more than enough water too so I know I'm not dehydrated! I have a very long day as well and once I get home it's tough not to just give in to whatever everyone else is having then of course I'm snacking with the kids before bed. That's why I've been tracking my calories more often...it's been a real eye opener!

I did a Jari Love weight video this morning and added a step and it sure got my heart rate up! It was as high as it is in the warmup for the Insanity videos at times!! My problem is definiately NOT the gym. I'm there every day I'm at work. I was also working out on Saturdays, but haven't lately b/c my husband works every other weekend it seems like it's hard to fit it into the day with my regular house cleaning, laundry, and kid time. I just HAVE to watch my diet. I weighed in this morning 5lbs heavier than I have...so 155lbs. YIKES!

Hey ladies! First, I should say that my profile pic is from, like, 3 years ago! I put it up as motivation and I do NOT look like that now. I was probably 110lbs or so back then and I'm closer to 117 now, plus I've lost so much muscle.

However, I have been making it to the gym a lot recently so that's a step in the right direction. My problem is that after nearly 2 years of pregnancy/breastfeeding I just can't seem to convince my belly that I don't need those extra calories anymore! I'm always so hungry and just can't seem to motivate myself to take that extra step and cut back just a little bit in order to lose some stubborn fat.

My husband still commutes over an hour each way for work so I'm on my own with L until dinnertime- getting us both ready to go, working for 9-10 hours, getting her home, making dinner, etc. It's hard to find the energy to make good choices. Overall, my eating isn't even BAD. I just need to eat a little more veggies and a little less sweet stuff.

Ok, I'm about to run out of work and hit the gym. I'm too tired to focus on work right now!

Wow- there are post!!! I guess all I had to do was go away for a few weeks! Hi all...I know some of you from long ago(Bree-HI!) and I'm sure will get to know others!

Sooo...not gonna lie...I need to get motivated to start burning some real calories, I have been doing well cutting out bread/pasta/potatoes etc but I am not seeing results like I was...I think my body is sick of the rollercoaster, and I have to say mentally I am sick of it too. The key is lean protein and lots of veggies and fruit and real working out.

Just went for a 50 minute walk...glad I got out to do something but wish it was a 50 minute run. Oh well gotta start somewhere right...hoping to get back into running, there is a 5 mile race next month that I'd love to enter since I was injured and couldnt run it last year...so we shall see.

For tonight my focus is on my interview tomorrow...wish me luck, it's a second interview so I am getting closer...

Erin

Hi girls!!!
I'm checking in-
Bree- thank you for sharing your experience. I have an ample supply so without that I would have probably thrown in the towel long ago. I was able to pump and bottle feed when the thrush was really bad. Now that we are on the mend I had a few days/weeks of oversupply which was very uncomfortable! I think I'm getting everything evened out now though, thankfully!

Suzanne- I loosely had the approval of my doctor to start exercising. I had a very "easy" labor- no tears or cuts (my baby was only 6 pounds) so she said I could start easy exercise around week 2 or so... By week 3 I was starting to feel really down and my husband actually told me to go to the gym because he knew it would perk me up- and it did. I really needed the endorphins. So after that I just started building but I definitely went out too hard. I have had to back off a bit

Em- that's great you are staying home. It's so hard to do everything and do it well... There just aren't enough hours in the day! It will be great if you are ready for number 2 - you can focus on home and your family without feeling stretched.

I did ok today- planning a salad for lunch. I don't use spark for logging anymore either, I use the livestrong app on my phone, it's so much easier!

Well, just checking in to make myself feel better...we had our "Spring Fling" today at work...its just a special day I have for my employees where we have breakfast, order out for lunch, and try to regroup. I brought mini cinnamon rolls, blueberry scones, and fruit for breakfast then I ate 1/2 slice of pepperoni pizza, chicken with Madiera sauce (the chicken was fried btw) for lunch, and a chocolate cupcake filled with ganache with hazelnut buttercream icing...oh my...frightening! I didn't even attempt to count today. It would be great if I could watch what I'm eating for more than 1 day!!

Hope you are all having a great day!

Hi Girls!!

I'm back on again...haven't been tracking since last week, but I really have to keep up with it! I feel horrible about myself!! AHHH!

Shana - so glad to see you! I saw on FB that you were running again after your sweet little girl was born. I went all out too quickly too PP and had to ease back into working out after I completely exhausted myself. I did a workout video the day after I came home! LOL! I BF both my kids but also had a tough time with milk supply. It hurt so badly at first, but my 2nd I made sure to treat my nipples with lanolin BEFORE the baby was born and mine were pretty close together so I didn't have so much to get used to the 2nd time around. I would bleed and just want to cry from the pain. I was able to take 12 weeks off with both kids so I pumped a ton while I was home than dragged that dreadful pump everyday to work. It was so hard!!! It was also good when I started losing my supply I had enough in storage to supplement what I could produce in a day. I tried everything to make more milk and nothing worked. I heard thrush is awful! Myka weaned early b/c I got pregnant when she was about 7 months so within a couple months she was totally weaned (her choice). Josiah I nursed longer, but was down to 2-3 times/day by the time he was 11 months. He was totally done around 14 I think. Like Suzanne & Em said, don't feel guilty about quitting. Whatever works for you!

Em - So exciting you're ready for #2! My transition to 2 wasn't too bad, but I remember thinking at the time that I would better appreciate them being close in age later and I am lol. At the time it was a little crazy. I felt like I had no time in between. I was nursing or pregnant for like 2 years which I know happens to a lot of people but then pregnant with #3 I thought I would die hahaha. I'm so happy for you that you can be a SAHM. I'm sure it would be rewarding although ideally for me I would want to work part-time. You DO look great BTW :)

Suz - I'll have to look into My Fitness Pal. I used to have SP on my phone but never downloaded it again when I replaced my phone. Anything to make tracking easier! I feel like I just can't get on top of my weight!! I know it's my eating, but for some reason I don't have the will power I used to have. Weekends are so hard for me b/c we run around a lot and I'm always eating on the fly...snacking all day long and eating places I shouldn't. It's so frustrating! I don't know what a 1,200 calorie day feels like...I feel like I'm starving right after I eat lunch! I'm sure my stomach just needs to shrink some...

Em- First off, how are you not in shape to have baby #2? You look tiny and toned in your profile pic!!! I am so excited for you to experience being a SAHM for a while. While it can be tough at times, it is worth it for sure!!

Shana- At least it sounds like you are producing a decent amount of milk. I think I despised pumping so much because I could only get(if I were lucky) 2 ounces in 20 minutes. Not very productive in that department, lol! I hope you are able to get in the groove soon or get to the point of feeling okay not doing it. Did your Dr. approve you to start working out again 3.5 weeks after delivery or is that something you decided on your own? You are so dedicated!!

Do any of you use the app my fitness pal? I like it better than Spark for tracking so I have been using that the last couple weeks. My goal is to track there until I get back down to the lower 120's, something I hope happens in the next 6 weeks. If you are a member or decide to join my user name is Suzriley1.

Em and Suzanne thank you so muchnfor responding. You both have valuable input and experience and also different experiences!

I havenseen a lactation consultant and gone to several breastfeeding support groups. I have also been on an antibiotic for a month to treat the thrush and now I'm using some different medications. We have really good days and really bad days. I really want to breastfeed until she is starting solids and I have pumped and frozen quite a bit so my goal is to make it 3-4 months and then use my frozen stash. some days it seems possible and others not so much!
Thanks again for sharing your experiences!!!

I'll be back on tomorrow. I bought a good stash of healthy food for the week so I hope incan stay on track and make good choices!

Woohoo! It's like a reunion around here!

Shana- sorry you're having such a hard time. Breastfeeding was REALLY hard for me at first but once we got in a groove it was something I really enjoyed and Lyla was mostly weaned around a year but finally fully self weaned completely at 15 months. BFing was something I was really dedicated to but I don't blame anyone who chooses not to. If it's something you want to continue, I recommend getting some additional help from a lactation consultant but if it's really starting to detract from your quality of life or negatively affect your relationship with your baby, then don't feel guilty about giving it up. Formula is food, too. I, alas, did NOT lose weight when she weaned. It took a while to get down to my pre-preg weight after L was born but I think I hit it around 7-8 months, then maintained. After Lyla weaned, which was about 2 months ago, I gained some weight back and I'm now up 3-4 pounds from there and not loving it.

Bree- Welcome back! Your kids are SO CUTE! I always check out your pics on Facebook!

Kristi- you're still teaching, right? Teaching is so intense these days! I've been working 10 hour days but still only leaving work because our babysitter is only open for 10 hours. Then I come home and work after L is in bed. This is a big part of why I'm staying home after this school year. I'm just stretched too thin to be the kind of mom or teacher that I want to be.

Ok, I have to get to bed.

Oh, and I think we're ready for kid # 2 so I feel like I'm running out of time to shape up before that! Eeek! I need a kick in the rear! Glad everyone's checking in!!!

SHANA- With my daughter I was only able to do it for about a month and that included supplementing. I had PP depression due to having a C-Section and was not eating hardly anything so my milk supply was awful. I quit because of the depression and as soon as I did I felt 100% better so no regrets there. With my son, I made it about 2 months because I had to go back to work and pumping just was not something I was interested in. I will admit, I am one of the more "selfish" moms when it comes to getting my life( and body) back. Breastfeeding is wonderful and the perfect food but in my opinion, if it makes you even a little resentful(as it did for me) it is not the healthiest thing to do.
So, I say do it as long as it feels good for you and when you decide to quit don't let yourself have guilt over it. Trust me, there will be about a million other things to feel guilty about later on (like forgetting to strap your baby in the car seat, lol). You may run across some judgemental people but hey, they are not you and aren't in your situation!!

Good luck and enjoy that precious baby girl!!!

Hey everyone! Looks like some of the old timers are checking in- Bree, kristi- hi everyone.

Well I had my little girl about 6 weeks ago and she is such a sweetie! I still have 10 pounds and many inches to lose ://I think I'll be one of those people that holds on to the weight until I wean. I have been dealing with a lot of nursing issues too- it's been really emotional and painful- I've had thrush for almost 4 weeks and the pain is excruciating. I have been working out since about 3.5 weeks postpartum. I did recently really hurt my Achilles- I think I went out too hard.. I was just so excited to run after not being able to for so long. Anyway, I'm going to do my best to start Tracking my food. My initial plan was to breastfeeding for 3-4 Months so I won't be cutting my calories too much but like I said, I'm struggling with it in general so I'm not sure what ill do. For those of you in the board with kids, how long did you breasted, if you don't mind my asking. It's such a heated issue.... And there is so much mommy guilt that goes along with it. As if dealing with the hormones and extra weight and sleep deprivation and everything else isn't enough!!! Ha.

Hey Bree! So good to see you on SP again!! My goodness, I think you stopped checking in shortly after Myka was born so it has been a while!! Of course, I still "see" you on Facebook and think to myself all the time just how adorable your kiddos are!!

I agree, the body really changes after having kids. It isn't so much my weight but nothing will ever seem as toned, that is for sure!!
I got the Insanity workout videos from a friend and there was just way too much jumping and heavy plyos for me to be able to do it. Even after a couple workouts my knees were killing me. I just try to change it up by lifting weights at the gym, taking kickboxing and Zumba classes and doing what I can at home. I am trying to make it about a lifestyle.

So, are you going to be trying for a 3rd child? I still think about it from time to time but I doubt that it will ever happen. Life has just become too easy now that we are out of the baby stage.

HEY GIRLS!!

Remember me??? I figured I'd drop in since I just started tracking my foods again on SP last week. It feels strange to be back here. I see a couple familiar faces though!

I'll give you all a little update...I now have 2 kids (Myka and Josiah) and have gone up and down in weight. I had a m/c September 2010 and since then I put on almost 20lbs!! I'm about 150ish now and would love to get back down to 135 where I was in 2010. I got the Insanity workouts for Christmas and started in January. I did the full 60 days but the 2nd month I couldn't do it exactly as the program stated b/c I got tendonitis in my ankles. It hurt so badly to jump but I still transitioned to the 2nd month videos. I have been doing 3 days of Insanity cardio and 2 days weight training since March...some weeks I do the opposite and up the weigh training some. I can't seem to lose ANY weight!! It's so frustrating. I finally decided to get back on SP to track my calories. I hope that makes the difference. I feel like my body has changed so much since I've had kids and the m/c really screwed me up (at least that's how I feel). What worked before certainly does not work now. Any suggestions? I'm all ears! I would also like to start P90X but don't want to spend the money. I'm actually thinking about being a Beachbody Coach too!

I'm really looking forward to chatting with you girls again!

Good to be back!
Bree

Erin- I don't know many of us that do well on vacation! I know I tend to indulge. I mean, it isn't like we go often so when we do, it sucks to set limitations. I am sure much of it is water weight and once you get your diet in order you will drop a few pounds pretty quickly!!

I am still hanging out at 132-133 but I am counting calories and trying to get to the gym at least 3 times per week but would rather do 4-5. By the way, I got the Brooke Burke video and it is great!! My butt and legs were SORE the next day and the funny thing is, it didn't seem too hard when I was doing it. It is a really good workout without being TOO hard. When they are too hard sometimes I tend to not want to do them.

I'm back!!! And I DID NOT do well being away...working out or eating/drinking...I am up to around 135 again...but started low carb again today...hoping to drop atleast 2-3 lbs this week. Then this weekend I need to limit the drinking, I think that is the key for me...too much excess bloating and calories from it!

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

I'll check in again when I have some more time on my hands!

Oh fun- let me know how you like the new workout DVD...when I get back from vacation I am hoping to gear up on working out...while away I hope to get in a nice hour or so walk on the beach everyday, figure it can't be too hard in a tropical paradise!

Yum- I can't wait to try the chicken/pineapple thing- and I just pinned a Quinoa Burger recipe, I may try that but it asked for Almond or garbanzo bean flour, but I may just use egg as a binder. I knew Quinoa was good for you because of the protein, but I guess I neglected that it doesn't have gluten in it- great for low carb! I also am going to try some more veggie/bean oriented "burgers" when we get back...throw that on a salad and there's a great, healthy, homemade meal...

I am back down to 130 even today- that makes it 3.6 lbs in like 8 days that I've lost. I am excited to not look so bloated(atleast for the beginning of my trip) in a bikini...and I figure there will be tons of fresh fish to eat there so I'm hoping I can really stay away from heavy starches/carbs and just have a cheat here or there.

Erin- That is wonderful that you are seeing a steady weight loss!! I am going to give the low carb thing a try next week but I need to stock up on some foods first and plan meals for next week that do not contain pasta or rice. I think I can give up bread and pasta pretty easily as long as I have my fruits/veggie/quinoa!! I need a fairly quick loss to get things moving!!

The teriyaki sandwiches were awesome!! I will make them again sure and yes, it would still be very good without the bun. I loved the grilled pineapple, gave it such nice flavor.

I just ordered a Brooke Burke workout DVD that I should get sometime late this week. I am excited to try it for something different. I have been scaling back my gym time(for my kid) to three days a week so I wanted something new to try at home on the days I workout at home. I will let you know how i like it once I receive it!

Suzanne- glad to hear from you!!! Funny- I was just telling my bf about that chicken recipe I pinned off of you the other day...I am going to make it next week when we are back from vaca- I think even without a bun it would be delicious!

I went down to 130 lb. yesterday, but back up to 131.6 today, but I am OK with that because yesterday was a holiday(alot of sodium and I had a little rice) and it could have been much worse. I have been just cutting out bread/pasta/crackers/pretzels/potatoes and I have to say it's not that hard. I have still been eating carbs in form of fruits and veggies and some dairy(greek yogurt, protein shakes etc.) and also I had rice twice(but just a little bit each time) but for the most part I think I could do this for a while. I can't believe the results in just a week...especially since it has been SO hard for me to lost any weight in the last few years...so it's motivating to keep me going. Yesterday I really want a cookie or some sort of cake/dessert thing...but I got through it and I am glad I didn't give in.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Hi Erin! Yes, we are safe, thanks for asking! The tornadoes were about 20 miles from me but only about a mile from where my husband was working. It was pretty scary and hopefully that is all we get this year. I hate Spring storms!!!

Wow, 3 pounds from low carbs, you almost have me convinced, lol! I can do LOW carb but I have a hard time with NO carb because I do work our pretty intensely. Are you getting carbs from things like sweet potatoes at least? I think you should see good results with anything under 150 carbs per day so while you do see quick results you don't want to be super lacking in energy. My goal next week will just be no carbs after lunch. I will allow oatmeal for breakfast and some for lunch but after 3 pm just strictly meat and veggies. This has worked well for me in the past so hopefully it will work again!!! I need something to work because I am feeling really fluffy right now. Bleh!!

I hope everyone has a nice Easter. We are keeping it low key. Church, breakfast, egg hunt and a nice lunch. Erin, I am making the teriyaki chicken sandwiches that you repinned on pinterest. I will have sweet potato fries and deviled eggs to go with. I should be good if I have small portions, especially since I am NOT making dessert!!

Ok so I am having mixed success...haven't eaten a starch/bread/pasta, etc. since Sunday and I lost 3 lbs!!!!!! This is insane, but it shows that it really works. That said, I don't have as much energy as I usually do, and have been lacking on the working on. Not that this is an excuse, but I had an unexpected interview this week that I had to prep for and a side job that I had to work yesterday...so it was a busy week. I head to St. John on Thursday- hoping I can keep the good eating going...even while there. I am sure I will indulge but it isn't that hard to eat this way, it just takes time and prep and a little willpower. I am MAD at myself, last night we ordered some thai food and it came with a fortune cookie and I ate it, I don't even really like them I just usually eat them because I believe your fortune will only come true if you do, but I wasn't even thinking about it being a carb because I had already avoided them during the rest of the meal! Oh well, good news is that it's not like I ate a whole cake or anything, and I didn't "want" it I just ate it out of habit. Today I am up a little on weight but I think it's from the sodium from last night and I wasn't able to drink as much water as I usually do yesterday. Back to it today!!!

PS- Suzanne are you around? I saw on the news there were some tornados in Texas, I think that's where you live- hope you and all your love ones are safe!!!!!

Hello ladies! I'm on spring break right now and celebrating by going to lots of hot yoga classes, the gym, and I cooked up a giant pot of sausage, kale, and white bean soup for healthy easy meals for the week.

Unfortunately I'm having a hard time cutting down on my sugar again which is really holding me back but I'll keep trying!

Suzanne- I am trying to cut out bread/pasta right now too...going away next week will be hard but when I get back I am gearing right back up...

Still feeling motivated, glad you are too, we can do this!!!!!!!!

Also, not sure if anyone has experienced this, but I believe since I updated my goals the other day my calorie range changed- now it is something in the 1300s-1700s, where as before it was the 1200-1500ish range. Is this because I hit 30 or because my goal weight is now 118? Oh well...I am still gonna try to stay around 1400 if possible....

Hope everyone gets good workouts in today!!!!!

I think I am going to pick up Jillian Michaels new kickboxing DVD this week. I read good reviews about it and it is 3 different 20 minute workouts which is not a ton but her workouts are very effective and make the most of time. I figure they will be good for early mornings and late evenings when I wasn't able to do much else.

I am also thinking about trying to cut out gluten to see if I see a difference in sugar cravings and bloating. My spark friend that I met today used to have awful bloating and sugar binges. She cut out gluten and it has made such a difference in her mid section. I do love my pasta/bread but I know that kind of food easily packs on the pounds. Boo!!

Erin- I saw that you are feeling motivated!! Me TOO!!! I didn't have the Blizzard but I dont even want it anymore so I am all good!!

Yes Suzanne, I am with you, we have done it before and we know how to do it, we just have to do it again!!!!!

You are right about running, I need to get back into it, I have been a bit, but it's nice enough out now(early spring) that it should be more of a focus for me. I know I have to start lifting again too...that is hard for me at a new gym, but I think I am going to try to start going to the gym early am before work a few days a week and get workouts in that way.

Have fun meeting a Spark friend!

Maybe have the Blizzard and just call that the end? That is usually what I do, I mean it's not the best thing to do but sometimes I just NEED whatever bad thing I want, and then I can move on from it.

Tomorrow is a new day...I am feeling good, motivated and hopeful for this week. I am DETERMINED to lose the weight this summer...I want to be skinny and sexy!!!!!!!

Erin- Set backs in weight suck but at least you know something can be done about it!! I need to get my eating in control. I am hanging around 132 and that is just too much for me. I really do not feel good in shorts or bikinis unless I am about 125. I WILL make it happen though!! We have done it before and we WILL do it again!!!

Are you running much lately? You always seem to do really well when you pick that back up? I figure the weather is just about perfect where you are for running right now. It is going to be 90 here tomorrow but I think I will get my butt up early and get a nice little 3 miler in before it gets too hot!

I am actually meeting a Spark friend tomorrow. Her name is KellyFit4U. I have known her for several years now from being on here and she is in Texas with a friend visiting some relatives so we are going to meet. I am excited because she is such a doll on the phone and email!!

I am STILL fighting sickness and now PMS on top of it. I have not eaten well at all the last few days and I am craving a Blizzard terribly but trying to hold off. We will see!! Why do hormones have to be so darn hard to deal with, lol!!

Hi All,

Just checking in...I have been avoiding Sparks because I have been being baaaad and not eating right and not working out and I don't like going on here because I have to be accountable for myself, but that's the point right? I am also back to 134...which is a huge mental issue for me, which means I have gained back essentially all the weight I have fought to lose over the last year. But anyway...I am at it again, re-committing myself to getting workouts in. I have decided I am going to put a dollar in a jar everytime I work out. I know it's not alot but once I am at 100(hoping to get there in 3.5 months) it should be mid-July and hopefully I can buy something fun to wear on my better worked out body. Also my bf has said he will give me some sort of reward once I hit 128, I haven't been able to break 129 in a long time. He/I know I shouldn't be stuck on a number, but I think mentally it will help me. I am trying to cut out starch/bread for the most part. Going to stick with smoothies, and lots of fruit, veg and protein and see what that does for me. I really want to do this this time, I just HAVE to find will power and motivation. Anyone want to join me???

Hope you are all well! I got up and put my workout clothes on this moring...haven't worked out yet, but think I am gonna go do an Insanity Workout to try to get some leg work in!!!

Hope you're feeling better, Suzanne!

I'm kind of sick, too, with a really annoying cold. Meanwhile my weight hasn't changed much but I feel like I'm getting even softer if that's possible. I got a living social deal for unlimited hot yoga classes so I plan to spend my spring break next week going to hot yoga in the morning and the gym in the evening to kick my butt into gear. Wish me luck!

I thought I would pop in real quick and say hello!! Today marks the 2nd day that I have officially been counting calories and I am starving, lol! Hopefully tomorrow will be the day where it clicks and my body realizes it does not need as much food to be happy. I think I have probably been eating 500-600 calories over what I am supposed to, especially with snack food. That stuff really adds up!!

I have also had a fever for a few days and I think(fingers crossed) that it is finally going away. I worked out the last two days but figured I had better give myself a break today if I was going to get any better. I plan on doing Zumba in the morning so I will just not push as hard as usual. Something is always better than nothing!!

Hi All,

I've been MIA because I haven't been doing great with eating or working on...just too much stuff to do and not enough time to focus on me and being healthy...I wish it was easier. This week is the big week...30 on Thursday...ughhh. This weekend (starting Thursday) is going to be filled with fun, food, friends, family, drinks, etc. looking forward to it, but then I need to crack down and get to the gym on a regular basis and stop eating horribly on the weekends...I figure if I can get a few good weeks of working out and eating right in before my trip mid April I'll be in much better shape for when I get there and less likely to just say "I'm on vacation" and be lazy and eat crap...

Hope all are well!

I totally agree about lifting heavy. Finding the time is the hard part. For example, this upcoming week I'm at school from 7:30-7:30 on Monday and Thursday (which means I leave home at 6:45 and get home at 8) and then I'm leaving town Friday right after work, which leaves me with maybe one or two days to work out, and even that would mean that I don't have any planning time after school. Sigh....

I'll be at the gym this weekend, though! I know my real problem is my eating but I seem to have misplaced my willpower! I'm going to try on a bridesmaid dress next weekend that I ordered a size small so I really hope it fits!!!

I doubt you will ever look like Spongebob, lol! I would really just work hard on your lifting and not be scared to go HEAVY! That is what is going to change the shape of your body. Well, that and eating clean and I know how hard that is. Breastfeeding is great in that you do get more calories but like you said, after a year of it the adjustment will be hard. Maybe just stick with things like nuts, yogurts and fruits when you get snacky.

I have decided that going back to heavier lifting is a must for me. I love all my classes but my body really responds the best when I dedicate a couple days to really lifting and not just in a body pump class. I love the weight class but if I miss a class I am not able to always make it up. If I hit the weight room I can work it in at any time. So, my new plan is two days of full body workouts and two days of cardio classes like Turbo kick and Zumba.

Suzanne- of course you didn't offend me! (My friend who posted is just a very LITERAL person and doesn't always pick up on humor.) I've been joking all week about my departure from coolness, which is especially funny because until now I was driving a dented rusty 14 year old accord, which was WAY uncool! I really like to Odyssey so far, although it is HUGE compared to what I'm used to!

So, I don't feel like my diet is too bad or my fitness for that matter, but since I'm finally not pregnant or nursing after 2 years of being one or the other, I've forgotten just how HARD it is to eat well enough when I don't need those calories. As a result I'm not losing at ALL and probably gaining but I can't seem to find the willpower to get strict with myself. I feel like a major blob and I'm afraid that when I do get pg again I'm just going to turn into Spongebob.

I am REALLY trying not to be negative but I cannot seem to get my diet under control. Most of it is late night snacking. I feel like I need something sweet after dinner but one piece of chocolate leads to five or to a bowl of cereal or something else NOT good when trying to get in bikini shape. I feel like my workouts are pointless right now. I have got to get it right in my head. If only food did not taste so darn good!!!

I feel like I saw some of my best results when I was training heavily with weights several times per week but I also got bored of it. I now attend classes with one of my friends which is motivating but at the same time I feel like I cannot leave her alone in the classes if I decide I want to hit the weight room. Sigh.

Hope everyone else is feeling better/doing better than I am.

Emily- Let me know how you like your new van!!! I hope I didn't offend you on FB. I do think it is kind of hard to look cool driving a mini van but it is hard to look cool with two carseats in ANY car, lol!! I did love my Odessey and would still have it if it had better gas mileage. It was soooo nice having the DVD player and all the extra room for the kids and their friends.

Yes....going to continue to remain positive, just doing what I can for workouts and trying to make good decisions for food...the next few weeks are really busy and full of many different events where there will an excess of food/alcohol...so I am just going to try to make good choices but still indulge I am sure!

As for tonight, I am going to get a workout in one way or another...not sure what I want to do yet but may go to the gym if I can get motivated enough. I am thinking Subway for dinner since I don't feel like cooking and there isn't much food in the house to make right now. I guess there is my motivation, I have to get out of the house to go to Subway so I might as well go to the gym on the way...

Awesome job Suzanne on the last few days...it really is amazing how good you feel from just a few good days...as for NYC- this is the first show I have tried to get into. But I know they all have similiar ticketing options, where you basically submit a request online and then they send you a number of dates to choose from. I will let you know when I get the new date for Rachael Ray!

Have a good night!

Another day of healthy eating over here and a excellent workout!! I did a cardio blast/better butts class at the gym and it was bootcamp style. Loved it and have never sweated so much!!
Two days of eating well and I know two days will have zero effect on the scale but I was supremely disappointed when I stepped on it this morning. I will refrain from doing that again for at least a week.

Erin- Ah, shucks,,,,too bad you missed Rachel Ray but at least you know you have for sure seats next time!! Since so many shows are taped in NYC have you ever had the chance to go to any others? I would love The View, Kelly Ripa Live and well.....any of them, lol!!

Just do what you can when you can and don't let yourself get down. I find when I let negativity about my body, eating, ect come into my head I do SO much worse. My mantra right now is just doing what I can to be healthy and that includes NOT beating myself up over little slip ups.

Off to Pinterest now....I love that site!!

Suzanne- Nice, I'm glad you had a great day! It feels so good, lately I haven't had many of those, but they are a good reminder of how good it feels to be on track!!!!!

I didn't work out yesterday, but I walked at least 3 miles in NYC so I figured that was a good "workout" for the day...I didn't eat great, but did better than I could have...I am so mad I didn't get to see Rachael Ray, the line was cut off RIGHT in front of us...we did get a voucher for "guaranteed" seats next time they are available...so I guess it will be a few more weeks before I see her! They don't tell you the guests beforehand so it's a surprise and luck of the draw! I live exactly an hour train-ride out of Manhattan. What a great city...to visit, I am reminded every time that I could not live there...definitely an "experience" like non-other. I would say check Groupon/Living Social those types of websites for hotel deals if you are really interested in visiting...you can get a good deal on some really fantastic places to stay.

Hoping to get a good workout in tonight maybe a run if I get home and it's still light out, it's supposed to be 60 today!!! I will also look for the trial coupon for WW...I am just curious about it now but don't want to commit the $$.

Erin- I have never heard of the app but I ditched my Iphone for an Android so I will see if the app is available for my phone.

As for weight watchers, I had to do a search for a free trial coupon on google and it gives you a special link for it but I never found it searching on the WW site.

How cool that you get to go to a taping of the Rachel Ray show!!! Do you know who the celebrity guest will be or do you find out once you get there? How far away from NYC do you live? I have always wanted to visit there but it is pricey with how much the hotels cost.

I had a great day! My body pump workout was awesome and my eating was on track....finally...haha!!

Food for thought- has anyone heard about Zombie's Run? It's apparently a new iPhone app that makes running "interactive" if that's possible-haha!

I am ditching my blackberry in the next few weeks, I think this may be first on my app list!

I am sad to report that I don't think WW does a free trial anymore, atleast not that I could find. I am just so discouraged with counting...I really need to just start planning my meals again, that is the only way I can stay within calorie-range...I know I can do it it is just time consuming...

Hmm...yeah I am sure DI is just busy with school, it's funny how "out of touch" I feel since I haven't been on facebook in 2 weeks.....weird!

I need a push of motivation tonight...need to go and do a quick workout and then do a ton of dishes and make dinner...

Then tomorrow- I am going to a taping of the Rachael Ray Show!!!!!! I am so excited!!!

Em- No wonder you were starving, 1/3 of a chicken burrito is NOTHING!! Next time grab a green salad or some fruit or veggies to go with it!! Either that or eat the insides and skip out on most of the tortilla.

Erin- I am still doing the extra minutes of exercise but I have to admit, the videos are really pretty easy. I really have to put a lot of energy into them but I do break a sweat when I give it my all and every little bit counts. Actually, low to moderate cardio is supposed to burn fat better than high intensity cardio so maybe it will help.

Great job on hopping on the treadmill and running a 5K. It really does make you realize there are no excuses when you see people without arms and legs or people much older doing the same things or MORE than you are. It is hard to get to the gym sometimes but we are so lucky because we CAN. So easy to take for granted at time.

I tried WW for a week but I found it to be more time consuming than counting calories. It is basically the same approach but you are counting points instead. I think if you went to actual meetings it might be helpful but doing it online was not for me. However, I know Di was liking it so go for it, it is always worth a shot!

Speaking of Di, I have not seen any updates from her on FB either. Maybe she is just super busy with school right now.

Suzanne- How are the extra workout minutes working? It is true that there are so many resources on Sparks that we forget to use. That being said- I think I may seriously check out weight watchers, I have been "reminded" of it everywhere lately it seems...and I think it is a different approach to watching what I eat rather than counting calories, I just don't like counting. Speaking of- have you seen any updates from DI on facebook(I gave it up for lent but I was wondering if she was around on there because she hasn't been on here in a while).

I have been better about making up workouts and such now that I have a better idea of what I can do at home, yesterday I did an Insanity inspired workout, and today I got to the gym. There was a 5K that I had been planning to run today but just never ended up signing up, so I put myself on the treadmill and ran a 5K there, figured I owed it to myself. It wasn't too difficult, but my legs are sore now, but it feels good! Also- while running at the gym the TV in front of me was showing a special story on a man that was born without his hands and feet(basically only partially developed arms and legs) and he was doing everything, including climbing to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro. In my head I was thinking "I can't complain that I don't want to work out and run this 5K when I am physically able to do it and some people are not". I guess sometimes you just need a dose of reality...that was mine for today. This week my goal is to get a consistant amount of workouts in, whether at the gym, or at home.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

Erin

Suzanne- I love your pinterest pins! I always get such good ideas from you.

I'm doing.....eh. I've been extra good about hitting the gym but I can't get ahold of my eating. Like, right now. I had about 1/3 of a chicken burrito for lunch and I'm STARVING! I can't figure out what to eat that will hit the spot but still be healthy...

don't know why Spark does that sometimes but it shows no new posts and then BAM they appear out of thin air. Weird!!

I posted a new blog today and I am going to do Sparks New You Bootcamp for the month of March. It is very easy and doable....maybe a little too easy, lol. I am going to keep going to my classes but I am going to add in the exercise videos they have set up for each day as well. Most are only 10-20 minutes long but I figure that extra workout will certainly help and not hurt. I just want to make sure I am meeting my full workout potential, lol!

My daughter had the tummy big today so no gym for me. Boo! My tummy is now kind of rumbly so I REALLY hope I am stronger than it because I don't want to be down and away from the gym anymore than I have too. Besides, I have a hair appt tomorrow that I don't want to miss!!!

Erin- The more you go to classes the less intimidated you will be. They can be tricky learning the moves the first few times but everyone has to go through it and you catch on really quick. I love group exercise, so much fun to me.

What an amazing birthday gift from your BF!!! That is a very good reason to stay on track. Going to such a beautiful place you want to feel confident and comfortable on the beach. Good luck with the custom bikini and post pics for us when you get it!!

Suzanne- watched your Vlog just now finally- congrats first of all on doing that, fantastic motivation, even more than pictures! Secondly, you are tiny and in great shape already, but I know how it is wanting to drop a few more pound and clean up our diets(I guess that's why we are part of this board right?)...I know you are dedicated and motivated so I am sure you will accomplish what you are setting out to do!

I didn't work out yesterday because I had some friends over to help me with my resume and such, I figure that was not time wasted, and also made a recipe for fish tacos which was pretty delicious and healthy! Tonight- I did a hybrid workout of Insanity Warmup(basically 15 minutes of cardio) and then a Pilates Abs Sculpting DVD. I am trying to squeek out the workouts without getting bored or just plain too lazy...and I made stuffed peppers with ground turkey and quinoa. I usually put couscous in them(I'm not a huge rice fan I know couscous is not a traditional ingredient in stuffed peppers) but the quinoa was a great substitute and a little extra protein. I forget to mention that on Sunday I made the quinoa pizza bites- I made them larger because I didn't have a mini muffin pan(have since got one) but I wasn't a huge fan, they were sort of dry to me and I didn't like the taste of the quinoa, it almost tasted slightly bitter to me. I think I got rid of that this time by using chicken stock instead of water when I cooked the quinoa, it just had more flavor.

Anyway- tomorrow is MARCH, which puts me at exactly 3 weeks until I turn 30. Not looking for a miracle or anything here but going to continue to get to get in as many workout minutes as I can and just try to keep my eating as clean as I can. Not sure if I mentioned this before but Tom(my bf) booked a trip to St. John for he and I mid-April as a birthday gift to me(well him too- oddly enough we have the SAME birthday, not the same year but still super strange!) so I want to be in decent bikini and cardio shape at that point, so I can workout in the warm weather and not be embarrased on the beach. As a birthday gift to myself, next week I am going to this store called Intimacy(it's a chain if you want to check it out it's www.myintimacy.com) where they do bra fittings and sell lingerie, swimsuits etc. I went there back in January and had the best experience ever. I bought a few(very expensive but needed) bras and vowed I would be back to buy more and get a swimsuit. Seriously, it was life changing for me(I am slightly well endowed in that area and have always had issues finding things that fit) I feel 100% more confident, can stand up straighter, and just think in general a good bra makes you look better. I am hoping the same will happen with a swimsuit from there, the best thing is they do alterations, so they can make something your size if it doesn't exist(which they did with the bras I bought). I just can't say enough great things about the store, I also got a sports bra from there, fantastic!!!!!! Ok enough rambling for me tonight.

Have a good night!!!

Erin
