Bellacuddles, I'm glad you were LOW in a GOOD way as you had another terrific weight loss! Congratulations on your success and we are all pulling for you to reach your goal! Great job!!

Sounds like we are all staying active and that's a good thing and yes, sure important to have enough water on hand with the excessive heat during the summer. Since we are back home for about a week I almost forgot about the difference in the temperature and went out without my water bottle. I was feeling a bit on the faint side by the time I got home again, so it's a good reminder!

Love seeing your posts and best wishes to all of us for August!

Yesterday I went with my hubby to the Fitness center and he signed up at this location for their Silver Sneakers program. I'm able to join him for only $5.00 per session and in one month I'll be eligible to join Silver Sneakers also! They gave us a nice tour of the facility and there is a large swiming pool and just about all the fitness equipment you can imagine. I'm excited to start in and plan on attending some of the classes! emoticon

When we flew out to Spokane last month, I wore my Nikes........they take up so much space in my carryon, and I packed my Ipod and walked at the airport...at least 20 minutes.....done, and I felt so much better, even just getting that little bit in.....it's all good, and it all counts!! Yae on your new shoes!!! emoticon

Good Morning Pals,

I'm so tickled because yesterday we got together with my cousin and his wife and I was bemoaning the fact that we do not have our bikes here at our RV park! Well, guess what? He happened to have three bikes out in his shed that he said he never uses and that we could use while we are here this summer! They will need lubrication, new tubes and tires, but my hubby is so handy with that sort of thing. We brought them home in the truck and now I can't wait until they are ready to ride! This is going to help me out sooooo much in getting the exercise going! Just had to share my excitement. emoticon

Barbara, I agree with you 100%! My motivation has somehow just taken a nose dive the last couple of months and it's really time to get focused again. I've been eating very healthy for the most part, but my mind kept telling me that I'm on "VACATION" so that must deserve diving into some goodies and stopping by the DQ a little too often. I'm sticking to my goal of 169 by Aug. 1st and will be very joyous if I can achieve that! If I get below that it would just be icing on the cake!

Leslie, that is wonderful that you are so close to your goal weight also! You have been working hard and I am going to be so happy to see you reach your KOPS status!

Everyone enjoy the day and I'm counting my blessings!

The Lord is my strength and my song.

Gals, I don't know about you.........but for me, I have to push harder, and I've not been doing that. I've looked back at last week's journal, and I've got 2 days of frowns.......when I've overeaten, and I know why....hubby was gone most of the day and I felt I deserved a treat or two. Backing up, he retired 2 months ago......had extra vacation time to take, but now the official retirement date was Friday, when he went into work in the afternoon, and last night when he got together with his comedian friend, and I just felt like I "deserved" treats.......I must remember our pledge......."even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see.........I will take off pounds sensibly!" I've got to get my direction back. July 1 is a new month and my goal is still August 1 to get rid of 7#. I did lose 1 of those that I gained, and I'm exstatic about that.......probably all the exercise I've done this past week!

WE CAN DO IT.......KEEP MOVIN.......GET RID OF THE JUNK!!

Bev, it sounds like you were doing a great job tracking your food and exercise last week and that is all we can do! Sometimes the scale is not a true indicator of actual fat loss either. It may be slow going but we will get to our goals eventually!

I can't believe we are getting so close to the 4th of July already! emoticon

Hope all our pals are doing great!

My weigh-in was tonight and it was not good. I would like to think it was because of all the hot humid weather we have had this week, but I'm afraid it might not be. I did track my food this week (one day I forgot to enter it so I entered it the next day but I think I remembered everything). I can't say I stayed within the range I think I should be every day, but with the exercise I did I don't feel like I should have gained .8 either, but I did. The group decided not to even weigh in next week, so I have two weeks to turn things around. Good luck to you Sunny and Barb- and anyone else who is reading this but not posting.

Hi Barbara and Bev,

Well, I'm late in posting this week, but I've been having a terrible time with my "Hot Spot" from my i-Phone that lets me get on-line! I seem to start out fine and then after a period of time it just quits working and I can't get out. I've been trying to take care of on-line bills, correspondense with my kids, etc. and by the time I'm ready to get onto Spark it's been pooping out!

Barb, I think I need to put my goal on a piece of paper and try to focus on it like you do! I did not loose this last week either in spite of all my good intentions. I did not gain a lot, but going in the wrong direction. I just told myself that I'm not wanting this badly enough or I would stay more focused!

I ordered one of "Hungry Girls" cookbooks online and got it yesterday. I have no excuse for not being on track, so will try to do better in the coming days! If we are setting goals for ourselves, I think I'll try to focus on being at 169 by Aug. 1st! I just have not been able to get under that 170 mark and I WANT to break through!

Bev, hope you had a good weigh in yesterday also!

Take care,

Sunny

I hate it when that happens! My scale does not weigh me the same as the chapter scale, but if I keep track of what I weigh on that one right before I go to my meeting and then weigh on it right before the next meeting whatever mine says I lost or gained will usually agree with the chapter scale- or be close. If I am only up or down by 1/4 pound or so I am never sure what to expect because that is too close to call. You will turn things around and get back to goal. Even if you don't quite make it by 8/1 I am sure you will be much closer. Good luck!

I'm not sure if we will have a meeting next week or not. I would like to do a weigh-in only, but we will see what the rest of the group wants to do. Several of us are struggling and I hate to miss a weigh-in because of that, but the 4th actually falls on our meeting night.

Unfortunatley, my scale and TOPS scale was not the same, and I was up a pound and we are off next Monday due to the 4th of July! But I DID set a goal of 8/1 to get rid of the 8# and be back at goal!!! I am focusing on that date and getting my visualization going!!

Welcome back home, Barbara! That sounds like a wonderful thing that you and your husband did for his folks and I'm sure they appreciated it so much. Those are the things that really make you feel great! I'm sure his sister was so appreciative as well. It's difficult when there are so many miles between families.

That is always such a nice feeling also when you get back from a trip and the scale shows that you have maintained! You are doing great and staying right on track. I'll be weighing in tomorrow (Moday), also, so I'll be thinking "light" thoughts for both of us!

There was a Lavendar feastival in Concho, AZ that lasts through the end of this month. We drove over there yesterday afternoon and even though most of the activities were already finished, we saw some pretty scenery and had a nice outing.

Hope everyone is having a great week. I'll check back soon!

Hugs,
Sunny emoticon

We arrived home late last night.........midnight, so I'm just getting my fridge restocked with healthy veggies and fruits and thawed out some homemade chili for tonight. The good news is I didn't gain any weight while gone for 7 days and did not lose any either, but I'm ok with, considering I did too much sitting and visiting with DH's mom who has dementia, but it was a very worthwhile trip to see hubby's family and so glad we went. Hubby did a lot of work and he and his sis also set up some housekeeping plans for his folks, as they are just too old to really do a lot for themselves and need some looking after, more than his sister can give, as she needs a time out as well!!

PS.....I'll be ready for my weigh-in Monday night!

Oh, that is too bad about your mom, Barbara. You can really hurt yourself so quickly and then spend the rest of your life regretting it. Your mom must be doing something right however if she has reached her 91st birthday. I know a lot of others not that fortunate, but quality of life is a big factor also. If she is not able to do the things she enjoys it is not a happy situation.

TOPSMOUSE, congratulations on your great loss last week! You were really feeling motivated, so keep it up and we love hearing the good reports!

My favorite thing in the world all my life has been walking and I am just having fits that my feet are causing me so much distress that I just can't get all the walking in that I normally love to do. I'm just going to have to find another passion that I'll stick with as faithfully as I always have done with my walking. I am missing my bike up here while we are on vacation but my hubby is hesitant about letting me get another one because of trying to get a rack put on our RV so we can get it home with us. There is a nice community swimming pool, so I'm looking into that as well. ALSO........... my B-day is coming up in Aug. and I'll be eligible to get into that Silver Sneakers program and I found out they do offer it at a near by fitness center! My hubby is already a member of that! Well, at any rate, I hope you are all doing well and having a wonderful weekend. The hubby wanted to go see the new Start Trek movie, so that is where we are heading this afternoon! emoticon

Yes, walking is the key, even slowly, even just parking a little farther away than you have to. I walked a lot more than I usually do this week - every day - and when I weighed in this AM I lost 3.2 lbs!

Sunny, with that positive attitude, believe YOU can do it!! See yourself where you want to be....how you want to feel and look. WIth my mom, who turned 91 in May, she is totally wheelchair bound, cannot even walk anymore, and I feel so sad about this, but a lot of it was her lifestyle. She did not exercise. She is only about 20# overweight, but growing up, I can remember, her serving a lot of fried foods; we had candy bars in our lunches every day at school, and I never even knew what broccolli was till I started grocery shopping myself and I love that veggie. She started with a walker only 4 years ago, and then I came back to TOPS after my dad passed on, and decided I was NOT going to be in that situation (my mom's). I can remember her moving the washing machine on her own....pushing it, and ended up in the hospital in traction when I was a young girl....that was the start of it....poor choices in not waiting for my dad to get home from work. She just wasn't strong enough to do it on her own....the muscles need to be built up. I exercise daily......movement is sooooooo important!

Let's all get on board the health train! emoticon

Boy, that would be great Topsmouse! emoticon Honestly, I'd be thrilled to loose say 10 to 20 pounds by the end of the year! Whatever we can accomplish I think we should jump in there and get it done. We have nothing to loose except the extra pounds, so may as well get started now!

Bev, I hope your hubby's foot will be healing up quickly. Sorry he had to go through that. What kind of foot surgery did he have? I'm sure both of you will be looking forward to him being able to be active again. August is just around the corner!

You know, it was sad to read about Barbara losing her KOPS status but it has made this team a bit more active as we all reach out to support her. I hope we can keep the interaction going. Sunny, I am hoping that in a few weeks we will be able to start doing some hiking again. We haven't done any for a while because my hubby was having a lot of pain in his foot, but he had surgery yesterday that should take care of that once it heals up. By the time we take our vacation in August he should be able to walk/hike with me again.

Barbara I was happy to read your post this afternoon also and see all your very positive comments! You are well on your way to getting that KOPS status back before you know it and we are all going to be so happy for you when you get there! I hope your trip to Spokane will be great. I loved it when we were in that location about 3 years ago. It is so pretty and boy, all those walking trails sound great! That is one thing I love about this little mountain community that we are staying at. We can go out hiking and just soak in the beauty of the surroundings and it feels heavenly!

I think we are all getting that momentum going on in our minds and it will be fun to see the scale going down for all of us! Making up our minds to do it is winning the battle!

See everyone on here lighter soon! emoticon

Barbara, it is good to hear things are going well for you so far. My weigh-in is tonight and I am thinking it will be very bad- at least according to the scale here it will be and they usually agree. The don't weigh exactly the same, but if this one says I have gained almost 2 pounds that one most likely will too. I'm not quite sure why I will have such a big gain, but it is what it is at this point. I exercised every day except yesterday and I didn't think I ate that bad this week, although I definitely could have done better. Tonight will be the start of my new week and I WILL have a loss next week.

I used to walk about 2 miles regularly but recently got lazy. I'm trying to get back to that level. This week I walked every day, even if just to the end of my block and back. I met with some ladies from my former chapter and one, who has lost close to 200 lbs now weighs less than me! That was my wake up call. Today I walked a lot and worked on a gardening project in a neighborhood park. Hope it pays off tomorrow when I weigh in.

I just wanted you all to know......I am taking those slow steps to get myself back on track.....sometimes it's one hour at a time....making those wise choices we all need to make. I got my 40 min. walk in. My back was sore before I walked, but within ten min. it felt better, and I've had back pain for years, so exercise does help!

I am vowing to be KOP again by the end of July. Visualization and focus...... emoticon

Thank you to all of you..........it's that first step that is so hard to do and then to keep doing it, and that is what I (all of us) really need to do. I had a very healthy breakfast and the same at lunch and I am eating ONLY when I am hungry!! I did have a moment where I wanted to go down to the basement (where I keep the sweet treats), but I caught myself and asked myself "Am I hungry?" The answer was no. I did my exercise of lifting my weights/toning cords for 40 minutes and felt good about that! I appreciate all of you coming to my aid, when I needed it most!

Hubby and I are leaving for Spokane on Sat, and we'll be gone a week.....not sure I'll be able to check in with Spark, but I am already thinking ahead to snacks and meal planning. We are staying with his elderly folks, and they are very healthy, so that won't be a problem and there are great walking areas, right out the front door, so I've already planned that in my mind....where most of my (our) battles start......it's the things we tell or don't tell ourselves, right!!??!! It seems like I heard a quote of this sort "Losing weight is 80% in your mind"!! So true, right!?!

Barbara, you have LOTS of company. Many of us have been in your shoes. It is tough when you first lose your KOPS status, but now it is time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move forward. You can't go back and change what has happened but you can start today to make a new start on getting your KOPS status back. Just don't let what has happened lead to even more weight gain (like I did). Losing that extra 7 pounds will be much easier than losing that 7 plus another 7. We will all be right here to cheer you on each week when you report your losses (I am confident they will be losses).

If you haven't already done so, go back to keeping a food and exercise log so you can see exactly how you are doing. I haven't been doing it lately and I know that is one thing that helps me to stay on track.

Yes, that ship has sailed.....I've made some bad choices; let some personal stress get me down, and NOW I have to pull myself together and JUST DO IT!! I'll get it back. Thanks so much for all your support, friends!

You know if you weigh outside the 7# that you have 2 weeks to get back down before losing status, right? Or has that ship sailed? We all have bad times. I'm struggling, too, but really just lazy. EVERYONE eats badly and goes off their program sometimes. The key is to say "That is over, that was then, this is now, I'm back on track now." Don't say, "I blew it." That just makes you want to give up completely. One bite at a time. We can and will do this.

I am what I think you think I am.

Barbara --- I'm here --- I totally understand.

I've lost and gained the same 10# for the last 3 years.

It's so easy to tell ourselves those little fibs about food --- "this one won't matter" --- this weekend won't hurt me"

I know it won't be easy getting back to your KOPS status --- but all I can say is think how it will feel to get there -- how you felt since reaching that status.

You can do it --- TOGETHER WE CAN DO WHAT WE COULD NEVER DO ALONE!

And you aren't alone -- sometimes -- I think I get it in my head that I'm alone -- and it just makes it worse!

I'm ending 2014 better than I started it.

I lost my KOPS status last night; I've been "fooling" myself too long......a little more of this, a little more of that, and one more cookie won't hurt! Yes, I've let the outside stresses of life get to me. Without going into personal details of the past 4 months, the 7# that got me out of leeway took me out of KOPS. I could throw in the towel, but I'm not! I've got to move more, get rid of the stuff that calls my name and get my self-control back! Any thoughts of inspiration for me........please? Maybe with this subject line, we can all help each other!
