I have only lost 3 pounds this month altogether. I really need to hurry to reach a 5 pound loss. I think I may have time to lose another pound or 2 before Feb gets here emoticon

Lisa...That's what sparkpeople is all about. Caring about your friends here who are doing the same thing you are. We all understand what each other is going thru and how it makes you feel when someone else notices something that YOU are doing. I love spark people. It is the best thing that has happened to me! Lisa, you do emoticon on that treadmill! Way to go!

There is a virtual walking club, where you can walk across the USA...you should look into it. When I finished walking across Illinois, I printed off a copy of the "Certificate of Completion"...I have it in my weightloss journal.

The virtual walk is just another fun way to track your progress!

Teri, it takes me 2 1/2 hours to do 10 miles, but I break it up and do 2.5 miles (15 minute) at a time. I was doing 5 miles at a time but my treadmill tries to overheat now.
emoticon On that note I did 10 miles today and drank my 8+ glasses of water, sure am saving money on diet coke these days, lol.

Lisa...You are really mean on the treadmill! How long does it take you to do 10 miles, anyway? I do 2 miles on my eliptical and that takes me 25 minutes if I am hauling a$$. I want a treadmill, also, but I think it would take a long time to do 10 miles. Good job you are doing!! Keep up the good work, Teri

Lisa..no I havent tried anything like that. According to my husband he dont have a problem, but I think when you drink jim beam and coke for 12 sstraight hours in a day..you have a BIG problem. He is killing himself. I watched my grandmother and dad both die of alcoholism, and now I am watching my husband do the same thing. And if they are in denial, there's not a thing you can do to help them. All I say is, its your liver!! His B/P was 179/98 Sunday morning and his sugar was 151..down from 266. He dont think he has any worries(called hard headed and stubborn...know it all)but I know differently ...Oh well enuf of him..I lost 1.5 pounds this week. I am down to 198..1 more pound til I have reached my 40 pound mark...YAY me!! I hope everyone is having a great day. My next 2 days should be good...I am off on Tuesday and Wednesday and usualy he dont drink on my days off. We stay home :( which is ok with me, cuz if we were to go somewhere it would be to a bar. I am a bartender. The last place I wanna go on my days off is to a bar...lol !!! Take care everyone!! Stay on track!! Teri emoticon

Teri, hang in there. Have you tried any support groups for familys of alcoholics? If not, that might be helpful.

Today I did my 6 miles on the treadmill and 100 crunches and the rest of my strength exercises. Glad tomorrow is a day off, although I'm sure I'll still do the treadmill.

Hi Teri - am glad today was better - it was my first day back at school, and I'm still trying to figure out routines that will work for me - it's harder than I thought, but maybe I'll get it together soon!
Walked on the treadmill 20 minutes very early this morning,
stayed within calorie range - might have to eat a little more tonight - could be low, and drank my water
A good day... Linda

Teri, today is another day, another chance, another start....don't fret over your food choices and don't let those choices set you into a downward spiral...it's just food! You have so much on your plate with work and homelife, an occasional "feast" might be in order! Then hop back onto the diet wagon...we're here for each other!

Linda, I think I'm going to have to try that Salsa/Beef recipe, it sure sounds good.

Last night I had turkey and feta burgers (w/o the bun)....so good. It's a SP recipe...

So sorry to hear about your weekend Teri. I know it must be awful and then to feel bad about eating on top of it.
I am grateful for finding this great group of friends you have on your board, so i am sure they all send you good vibes for a better week, as do I.
I just bought a slow cooker and am going to try the brisket recipe - thanks for the great ideas for recipes. I have not been on sparkpeople for very long and learning a lot.

WEll today hasnt been much better than yesterday. Still in a crappy mood, leftover from yesterday. It's really hard living a life with an alcoholic. So mentally abusive when drunk, and the next day its like nothing is wrong or ever happened. I have been seriously thinking about a divorce. With all this stress going on in my life right now, I just sometimes feel like just hell with everything. Today I went to burger king and had 2 whopper jr's and a fry...got home tracked my food, and hated wht I did. There was 440 calories and 27 grams of fat in just 1 whopper jr, adn I had 2! Then I split a king size french fries and there was 600 calories and 47 grams of fat in that, but of course, I only atre half of them (like that was a plus)..lol Oh well tomorrow is a new day and maybe I can get back on track. I have worked too hard this far to blow it. Hope everyoen else is having a good day. Don't forget to track them foods. Just like the whopper..no one knows what they really are eating unless you TRACK! I have had 1645 calories already today and my limit is 1550. Not that much over, but a very poor choice in foods. I promise myself tomorrow will be better. Teriemoticon

I had a good day today - weigh in day, and I'm down 3.5# in 6 days - probably just water, but I'll take it as a loss.
The beef was awesome! I realized as I read and re-read information, that a little bit of beef is not a bad thing - and wanted to get something really lean. I bought a regular brisket (not corned), and trimmed the fat - then put it in the slow cooker for a long time - most of the day - after I added a jar of Chi Chi's mild salsa and a jar of water. It was so tender, there wasn't any fat, and it tasted so good. I made a salsa to go with it from one can of black beans, one can of corn, about a cup of diced mango, half a large Vidalia onion, lime juice, and some Splenda. MMMMMM - it worked out well.
Tomorrow I go back to school, so I'm already planning tonight how to walk in the morning, have my clothes and books all ready tonight, and pack my lunch, too!
Have a good rest of the weekend. Linda

PS - tonight's dinner is my fake alfredo - Barilla plus pasta plus steamed shrimp and fresh green beans...

Terry, sorry to hear you had a bad day, don't forget that we sometimes just have to put ourselves first in order to be any good to anyone else. Take a deep breath, collect your thoughts and I'm sure you'll get right back into the groove.

Welcome aboard Clisa. It wont take you long to figure it all out and you'll be just like us. I couldnt figure it all out just 5 months ago, and no I am a leader on 2 teams. You just need to track all your food daily. That is so important and stay within your given calorie range, drink lots of water and exercise at least 4 times a week for 30 minutes if you can and you will definitely lose weight. Post on the threads. We are all here for the same fat reason...lol and we all give and get lots of support here. you will meet lots of good friends here at sparkpeople. Jump right in and start melting those pounds off. you can do it! Welcome! Have a great day and good luck on your journey! Teriemoticon
